Birdie Nest
Tokoyami x reader
MHA/BNHA Mainlist
Mainlist
Tokoyami is… an odd little man. Being a bird hybrid, of sorts, he had a lot of bird habits. Specifically habits of corvids. His room is filled with small shiny things and a few dozen gifts. Whether it was to people or from people, you weren’t quite sure; but it was sweet.
A make-shift nest sat in the center of the room, dozens of pillows and blankets and other plush things were arranged in a circle, slowly becoming smaller and smaller towards the middle. Transforming into a comfortable shell of sorts, and you sat in the center of it all. Wrapped up in the blankets and held by the pillows. Tokoyami was there too, his face buried in your stomach as you gently preened his feathers for him. “Such a pretty boy,” you’d praise, never failing to make his feather puff up as you did. “Such a pretty bird,” you purred out, making a content noise come from him. You loved this time of the year, when Tokoyami was all sorts of affectionate.
“I love you…”
He’d mutter.
“I love you too Pretty baby…”

Tokoyami headcanons-only one bed
Tumblr media
Both of you were comfortable with each other
Being partners you had to be
But maybe a bit too comfortable
You had developed a crush on him but you didn't want to lose him or risk running your teamwork
It was just another mission
Which is why you weren't expecting having to share a bed
Both of you on separate sides with a pillow between you, only because he insisted
That naturally made dark shadow want to get you as close as possible
One second you were on different side and in the blink of an eye you were pushed against each other
Dark shadow wrapped around you,not letting you pull away from each other
"I'm sorry about Dark shadow"
He just gave up trying to control dark shadow
"I don't mind"
You laid your head on his chest and instantly you felt his heartbeat quicken
"Fumi?"
"Yes?"
"Can we stay like this?"
You felt his hands around you, pulling you closer
"I'd like that"

fumikage’s fingertips are soft against your skin. the of the rope he weaves across your body is soothing with each pass. tonight, his work is intricate and beautiful. “i want to look pretty, fumi,” you’d said. fumikage lifted your chin. “but darling, you’re already the most beautiful girl i’ve ever known,” he’d replied with a smile. “that may be true, but i want you to make me look prettier.”
so with precision and warmth, his hands wrap and secure rope around your chest, your arms, your hips, your legs…. all carefully woven in colors you’d chosen for the occasion. the catharsis of being bound and in his hands slips in slowly as he lovingly caresses your skin. with whispers of kind words, he leaves soft kisses and checks on you as he works. when he’s finished, his eyes are looking down at you with adoration as he sees your hazy, content gaze staring back. and as he often does, he simply lays with you until you’re ready to be untied and held in the safety of his arms.

Another one? This is weird, flattering, but weird.
Fumikage Tokoyami is not really used to having admirers, let alone ones who would send him letters or write him poems. So when he had received his first one he was genuinely confused, and thought it was probably a mistake.. if not a prank. But they kept coming on a regular basis, so maybe, just maybe, it wasn't a mistake.
It was still strange, who would possibly waste their precious time to send him letters after letters filled with words of praise and admiration accompanied by beautifully written poems? He couldn't tell. But even if it turned out to be a prank, he would still be grateful since someone actually cared enough to invest their time and energy in doing it. That's what he kept thinking.
What he failed to realize though, is that it was never a mistake, nor was it a prank.
What he failed to see was the way your cheeks flushed and your heart hammered in your chest everytime he passed you by.
You liked him so much, and had plenty of chances to confess, but never the courage to let him know.
You're shy and awkward, same as him, and that was part of why you kept your feelings a secret for so long. Besides, you two have been friends for years, and you feared losing him in case he didn't feel the same way about you, so you settled for being his good friend.
_ "Look I found another one, can you believe it?!" He shook his head in disbelief as he finally joined you for lunch.
_ "Oh, yeah?.. well, apparently someone truly likes you," you responded aloofly making sure to keep your focus solely on the food placed in front of you, "hey lunch break is almost over and our patrol is scheduled right after, so hurry up and eat." you had to change the subject.
Will you ever be able to tell him the truth? For a long while, that was the only question you had no answer to.
Until one day..
_ "Hi y/n, are you ready for the morning assembly?" you had just gotten into your costume and was waiting to receive your orders of the day when he joined you.
_ "Oh, hi.. umm.. yeah I'm ready." you didn't mean to sound flustered, but for some reason you couldn't control your reactions around him.
The meeting went by in a blur, and you couldn't for the life of you focus on any of the instructions given.
"I'm going to make a mess today, I can already feel it." is what you kept thinking to yourself.
And you were right, nothing went according to the orders you were given.
_ "Heads up y/n! What the hell are you doing?" your supervisor wasn't happy at all.
_ "I'm sorry! I'm on it!"
From the corner of your eye, you were able to see Tokoyami eying you anxiously, he was aware of your distress but couldn't understand its reason, so you had to get it together first and leave everything else for later..
_ "Y/n, can I talk to you for a minute?" he approached you, eyes filled with unanswered questions.
You had just changed out of your costume and was about to head home and try to forget everything that happened earlier, but his sudden appearance changed your plans.
_ "What.. yeah, sure. Do you want to head to the cafeteria?"
_ "Let's just leave, I'll walk you home and talk on the way."
You nodded and left the agency side by side with him.
Numerous thoughts had battled inside your head, what did he want from you? Did he find out about your secret crush on him? Did he want to scold you for messing up earlier? Or maybe it was none of that. Whatever it was, you wanted to hear it and get it over with.
_ "So, what is it Fumikage?" you tried to play it cool, offering him a smile as you asked.
_ "Are you feeling alright?" his tone was gentle, as usual, "you were distracted today and I was really worried."
Your eyes widened and your heartbeat quickened as his words sunk in. He was worried about you.
Should you get your hopes up? Obviously none of it would mean anything if you don't gather your courage to confess your feelings.
_ "I'm fine Fumikage I promise, thank you for checking in on me." you took a deep breath and looked away from him before asking, "so, have you received any new letters?" you obviously knew the answer to your own question but you couldn't find any other way to bring up the subject.
_ "Oh, yeah, they're coming in as usual." he responded awkwardly, looking down at his feet.
You felt a little bolder so you decided to go a bit further, "what if one day you find out their identity? Or better yet, what if they finally decide to confess their love properly?"
_ "That's never going to happen." he sounded unusually stern, but there was a hint of something else that you couldn't quite understand, "I still don't think it's real." was he hurt? Disappointed? Both? Whatever it was, you hated it.
You wanted to let him know the truth more than anything else: "Fumikage.."
_ "Yeah?"
_ ".. No, never mind." you were still not confident enough for such a huge step, and telling him something important so casually like you were about to didn't seem right.
_ "It's fine you can tell me anything." his voice was warm like it's always been when addressing you. What more did you need?
_ "It was me.. the one who keeps sending you letters, that's me." you were a bundle of nerves as you finally confessed your biggest secret.
_ "Was it fun for you?" his tone had changed, "did you have a good laugh?"
What was happening? "Fumikage.."
_ "No no, that's fine, I was right after all." he raised his arms defensively and took a step back, "it was a prank, that's what friends do to each other right?"
You opened your mouth to explain yourself but it was too late, he turned around and walked away already, leaving you all alone..
Why did he react the way he did? Why did he misunderstand you?
You wanted to follow him but your body was stiff and your vision was blurry. You couldn't even tell when your tears started falling..
Things changed ever since that evening. He started avoiding you, not even a greeting or a polite head bow. You wanted to talk to him, to tell him that you were serious but he gave you no chance to do so.
You hated losing him so easily, if he didn't return your feelings, than you were to be content with your life long friendship. If only he would give you a chance to explain yourself.
_ "Oh, hi. What are you doing here?" he was startled as he found you outside his appartement one evening.
_ "Can we talk please?" you stood nervously half expecting him to shut the door on your face, but he didn't. His eyes traveled down to the cute little flower bouquet you held in your hands.
_ "Yeah sure." he stepped aside allowing you to walk in.
_ "This is for you by the way, a peace offering." you handed him the bouquet as soon as he closed the door behind you two.
_ "Thank you, but you didn't have to do any of this." he declared, placing it on the dining room table.
_ "Yes I did! This is the least I can do after hurting you that day! But please allow me to explain, it's really not what you think." you were desperate.
He looked at you for a moment but said nothing, and simply gestured you to carry on.
_ "I truly like you, not just as a friend but so much more", you took a few steps towards him as you decided to keep nothing in, "the reason why I haven't told you for so long was because I was.. scared." your voice trailed off and your eyes traveled down to your feet.
_ "Scared? Why would you be?"
_ "It's because I wasn't sure of how you would react, I honestly didn't want to lose my best friend, but I'm afraid I already have." you wanted to cry at that point, but forced your tears back before he took notice.
_ "I feel like an idiot." he chuckled nervously, "I was a jerk to you and didn't take your confession seriously, I'm really sorry for the way I acted."
Your face finally lit up after days of suffering, but for some reason you could no longer hold your tears back.
It was at that moment that he realized how serious you were about him.
_ "So, do you want to go out on a date with me? Say, tomorrow after work?" he cautiously requested, as he gently wiped your tears away.
_ "Ye.. yes, yes I do." it was the last thing you expected to hear him say. But not only did you have your best friend back, you also had a chance to go on a date with him. You were the happiest person alive.
What you failed to realize though, was that your feelings have always been mutual. And at that moment, he too was as happy as you were.

“Tokoyami?”
“Hm?”
You lightly nudged his shoulder with the tip of your socked foot, a silent gesture that you wanted his attention for a moment, waiting patiently while he finished the sentence that held his focus before carefully placing the leather bound book off to the side so that your gazes met from over the bed’s edge. The two of you had been reading in comfortable silence for the last few hours but that little nagging voice in the back of your head refused to quiet until outwardly expressed. Honestly it had been annoying you for weeks now and it seemed that today it was back with a vengeance. During class you’d hardly been able to look him in the eye thanks to its consistent whispers.
“You seem troubled by something.” Blinking, you nearly jumped when realizing that he had risen from his seat on the floor to sit across from you with neatly folded legs, red eyes watching you closely as Dark Shadow appeared from behind him. Tokoyami’s body language remained relaxed as you searched for words within the dark wine colored comforter until your spine stiffened with renewed resolve and tensed as you readily met his gaze.
A flex of your shoulders signified the activation of your quirk, a near bubble-like curtain emanating from your form to coat the walls and block the single exit to your bedroom, the exhale coming from between your lips almost coming out as a hiss as you transferred enough energy that should help it last at least for a while without you straining to sustain it. “I-I wanted to know if you’ll let me try something.”
It was hard for you to tell yet there was no mistaking the surprise that filled his face at your words. “I am unsure of why you act in this manner but your forwardness does you credit, something that I appreciate greatly.” The initial shock gave way to calm acceptance. “I see no reason to distrust you, (Y/N), please proceed.” Dark Shadow in particular looked particularly shocked when you gently cupped its face between your hands and brought it close enough for your nose to lightly bump against its beak. Bright red ovals appeared upon what you thought were its cheeks as he retracted with a whistle to disappear within Tokoyami. The shadow beast quirk holder seemed to mentally be attempting to find reasoning behind your actions until your own cheeks slowly began to burn.
Embarrassment nearly made you want to flee the room but then you remembered “oh, wait, this is your bedroom after all…you’d look pretty stupid if you were seen” and running away from this was something that would only haunt you for the rest of your life. “I’m sorry, that must have caught you by surprise—” Your words screeched to a halt as the arms that had been resting at his sides moved upwards so that a finger lightly brushed against his beak’s curve that would’ve corresponded to the same place your nose had brushed against Dark Shadow’s. “Did you…you fell that?”
“Indeed.” His head bobbed in a nod. “Did that answer your earlier inquiry?”
“Huh? Oh, well, not exactly.” The heat that had been rooted in your face slowly crept downwards until you were certain that the visible skin down your neck was tinted pink. “I guess you could say that was a trial. I won’t do it again if it displeases or makes you uncomfortable, I should have asked before doing anything—”
“Continue.”
The bed beneath creaked as he shifted closer to the point where your legs instinctively bent to give him move room until they were crossed like his own. His hands now rested upon the bends of his knees, leaving his entire body open in the nonverbal signal that he would not stop you from whatever was about to happen. “Say what?” You can’t help but question as he still shifts closer.
“Whatever it is that is making you hesitate, (Y/N), do not fret any longer. As of right now thanks to your quirk this is the most private place that we could be for you to unleash whatever it is that has been plaguing your mind.” Calmness radiated from his gaze as it bore into your own, his voice almost seeming to permeate the air with his words. “I will not lie, I have been worried about you for some time and though we have not been courting for long I have been curious-no, worried as to what has caused you to avert your gaze from mine.”
Silence fell again as you simply sat dazed at the amount of trust he was bestowing upon you. He was not a physical affection display kind of person, you’d learned in the last few months that his love language was affirmations and words of encouragement. Most would probably call you selfish for harboring such wants of him to hold your hand or embrace you, your own love language was geared more towards physical touches and acts of services, but at this point you felt nearly physically starved for something…anything that might satisfy this twisting in your gut. Fondness and admiration threatened to fill your chest as his head bobbed in a nod when you reached a hand out. He held perfectly still as your fingers brushed against the right side of his chest, your breath catching when feeling defined muscles hidden beneath the black tee he wore, marveling at how the underlying surface seemed to twitch at your fingers’ curious exploration.
Something suddenly pushed you from behind, causing you to fall forward and become practically plastered against his much firmer being, heat flaring wildly across your body when noticing that his arms had reflexively wrapped themselves around your waist. “Dark Shadow, that was not called for.”
“You know you wanted it!” The Shadow Beast’s tone had started off snippy but it ended with a knowing purr as its beak rested upon your shoulder when your lips parted. “Shut up and do what you wanna do.”
“Dark Shadow—”
“I want to kiss you!”
To say you’d rendered him speechless was the understatement of the century as you cowered when his gaze fell to rest on you.
You couldn’t move, breathe, heck you couldn’t even think of looking up at him right now! How freakin’ stupid could you possibly be?! “I know that with your features it wouldn’t be like a normal one but I still want to try! I don’t care that you have a beak or that Dark Shadow is a part of you, I still care for you in a way that I have to express it in some other way than just words!” The shaking in your hands almost prevented you from taking light hold of his shoulders as you took in a deep inhale while raising your head. Sweat was trickling down your spine as you took in his flabbergasted expression. Could you really go through with this? You’ve come this far, you might as well! He hasn’t stopped you yet or indicated that you should give up this crazy idea! “Please excuse me!” The air rang loudly with the resounding impact of your lips meeting Tokoyami’s beak. It had been so quick that both had to take a split second to realize what you’d done as you hid your burning face against his chest. Had you really just done that?! “U-umm, I’m so sorry!” You squeaked as his arms slowly fell away to land with soft thumps against the bed.
He resembled a puppet whose strings had been cut as you gently took hold of his shoulders and shook him slightly. A glaze had settled over his usually sharp, focused eyes as they remained locked upon a spot on the opposite wall. There was nothing there of course when you checked with a quick glance so your worry and self loathe grew the longer he remained in this bizarre state. The snap of your fingers managed to earn Dark Shadow’s jump, as well as a fierce nuzzle to the side of your neck, the air filled with subtle purring that you’d come to realize was a clear indication of its happiness.
Tears threatened to form in your eyes when his gaze turned glassy, your now trembling hands falling to rest in your lap. “I didn’t mean to break him, honest!”
It seemed to smile, the red ovals within its cheeks appearing. “You didn’t, he broke himself! His mind’s racing so fast that he can barely remember his own name!” An appendage appeared from its being to tap against the silent hero-in-training’s chest. “Earth to Fumikage! You’re checked out like a space cadet! Keep it up and you’re going to make her cry!”
Those very words may as well have slapped the guy out of reverie if the jump and crystal clarity that filled his gaze as it locked on yours. A strange emotion slipped down your spine as his unreadable expression grew stern, fighting the urge to reflexively retreat when he leaned into your personal space. “Whatever punishment you want to issue, I will take it gladly being as I was disrespectful and dishonorable—” Your words were cutoff by the sudden press of his beak’s arch against your lips.
The lids of your and his eyes lowered in unison as he repeated the motion again, the blood in your veins beginning to race as heat seeped into your skin via his fingers that rose to gently cup your chin as if to hold you in place. Boldened, you began to alternate positions with the hand still cupping your chin giving subtle squeezes as if appreciating how you continued to shower him with affection. Your hands that had been balled into nervous fists slowly relaxed and drifted until they rested upon his biceps when a tilt of your head caused your lips to meet another part of his face. His breath hitched when they brushed against the fine feathers that were normally hidden by the choker he wore so you took that as a sign to travel back upwards until coming to a stop at the frontal curve.
The two of you were nearly gasping by the time you separated, muted sighs and parted lips thirsty for oxygen telling of how the motions had affected your both. For several seconds you committed the near blissful expression he wore to memory as you fondly smiled. “I call them ‘Phoenix Kisses’, similar to ‘Butterfly’ ones but these are special.”
He blinked, the hand that had been under your chin falling down to rest on your thigh where his fingers began to rub soft circles into your visible flesh courtesy of the black shorts you wore. “And that is because?…”
“Because these are just for you, Fumikage, you’re the only one in the world who knows they exist and they do just for you. No one else gets them,” you whisper trailing your lips lighter than a feather’s touch along the curve of his beak.
A soft hum was your only warning as his arms suddenly snaked around you, a yelp slipping up your throat when he fell forwards until your back was against the pillows with your tightly tucked against his chest. His weight settled upon the bends of his elbows that were on either side of your head as you gazed up at him in curiosity. There was a smirk, no doubt about it, and a mysterious glint within his gaze as it bore into your own as Dark Shadow appeared from above. “Then we, as the receiver of such a wondrous gift, shall retaliate with our own answer of such emotion. It took you great courage to do so, (Y/N), and a reward is in order that we will gladly fulfill.”

If you write for Tokoyami, can you do one with a stressed out S/O in the midst of finals. Thank you 😊
Of course!! I apologize for taking so long.
my hero academia masterlist
Tokoyami realizes something is bothering you pretty quickly.
He doesn't confront you about it right away since he is unsure of what's bothering you exactly.
During the time he doesn't know what's bothering, Tokoyami does his best to make sure that you're taking care of yourself and that you know he is there for you.
He really wants you to know that you can come to him for anything and he is more than willing to help with whatever is going on.
Tokoyami is very much ready to listen to you if you need to rant and unlike the rest of the class, you are welcome to come into his room anytime you want to see him.
When Tokoyami finds out that finals are the reason why you're so stressed, he'll ask you if you want to ask Yaoyorozu or another one of Class 1-A's top students to help you.
If you say yes, he'll quickly arrange something for you.
Tokoyami will tutor you himself if that's what you're more comfortable with, although he may go to Yaoyorozu or Iida for advice on how to best tutor you because he wants to help you the best he can.
Tutoring/studying sessions with Tokoyami are very laid back.
He wants you to be calm during them and he starts out with easy problems to see exactly where you're struggling if you are.
However, that might not be the case.
You may not need tutoring or someone to study with at all and you're just stressed about getting things done.
Tokoyami will assist you wherever he can with that.
He'll bring you snacks and handle other things for you so that you have more time to work on whatever assignment you need to, especially if you're on a time crunch.
Also, Dark Shadow is perfect to cheer you up and help you relax. Tokoyami will let him out to help you feel better and help take a break for a bit.
Tokoyami will definitely treat you when you get done with finals and he's proud of you no matter how you do.

Beauty and the Bird
I went to work on one of my existing fics, only to discover a mystery doc. Upon reading it, I remembered that one of the Tumblr creators I follow answered an ask about Tokoyami getting hit with a quirk that erases mutations and he has the opportunity to give you a proper kiss; it inspired me to write a short one-shot. (Still not sure about the title though.)
Tumblr media
TOKOYAMI X READER w/ QUIRK
Synopsis: Gender-neutral, race-neutral reader has a mutation-masking quirk and is paired up with pro hero Tsukuyomi for an undercover mission.
A/n: You both are in your late 20s (or 30s, if you so desire). Reader did time in prison but it was for a morally good reason. A tiny bit of angst, but ultimately fluff. Not beta read.
CW: Use of the L-word phrase (a rarity for me).
Word Count: 830
Tumblr media
Life for mutants across the world isn't so great. You were helping a group of mutant rebels in an attempt to infiltrate the metro city council when your base - supposed to be a secret location - got raided by one of the national law enforcement agencies. In exchange for not going to prison, you agree to use your quirk on criminal informants involved in raids to stop organizations responsible for quirk trafficking. The effect only lasts 12 hours, but that's always been more than enough time for these stings.
Fast forward. You're now older and wiser than you were at age 20. Your time served turned into a career. Life has become monotonous. That's when your boss assigns you to an international task force for the purpose of stopping a Yakuza syndicate responsible for the majority of work trafficking between your nation and Japan. Ok, no big deal. It's what you've been doing for years, right?
Wrong. The op involves a pro hero going deep undercover. A mutant pro hero. And the only way to pull it off is for you to also go undercover as his partner in crime and …future partner in life!? You haven’t even been in a serious relationship for years and now you’ll have to pretend to be engaged to somebody you know nothing about beyond their name? You hadn't believed in love at first sight, but that all changes the moment you meet the Jet-Black Hero.
His shadow might be enamored with you, but the man himself is standoffish for the first month of op preparation. You're at your breaking point and you decide to confront him about his attitude. He confesses his feelings for you but, well, look at him. There are things he can't give you that other pros can. And, in his eyes, you deserve the entire Universe. After telling him you feel the same about him, he agrees to exchange phone numbers and you agree to give him time to "ruminate on this internal conflict" - still eloquent as ever despite feeling like a swarm of butterflies just took flight inside of him.
Over the next few weeks, he finally starts to notice differences between how you interact with other pro heros and with him; little acts of service, like wanting to share your food with him. He might not understand the appeal of memes, but it makes him smile a little to himself when a message pops up on his phone because you wanted to share something that made you think of him.
He finally comes to the realization that you see him when you give him a peck on the beak one afternoon only to then blush and apologize profusely for the kiss. At the team meeting the following morning, the people in charge make the decision to put you both in lockdown for a week so as to get comfortable with having to live together. Starting that evening. It's at this moment, he decides to tell you over dinner that evening that he wants to date you and see how things go. Although, he won't mention the part about seeing a future together with you. He doesn't want to push his luck.
You get to the safe house before he does, so you start to prepare dinner. You're cutting up vegetables for a stir fry when he arrives. You exchange pleasantries, but he seems almost…apprehensive? He says he wants to get some things put away and wash up for dinner, then disappears. You don't see him again until you shout "dinner's ready!" in the direction you last saw him.
You're setting the table when he walks into the room. You initially notice that the normally stoic man actually seems nervous. Then you realize his outfit looks more put-together than usual; that he wants to make a good impression in your eyes. And he smells amazing. A warm smile spreads across your face as he walks over to you and stops just a body's width away. You can see the wheels turning in his head, trying to find his words. The man who says the most profound things you've ever heard. Your heart flutters with joy that he's given you this chance to show him that he can give you everything he feels you deserve. So you take a step toward him and place your hands on his cheeks.
He hasn't even seen you shake hands with a single person who has a mutant quirk since you arrived; and now here you are, holding his face in your hands - his face. It took a moment, but once he realizes how your quirk works, he gives you a teary smile. Then he closes his eyes and places a hand over one of your own.
"Thank you," he says as a single tear rolls down his now fleshy cheek. You wipe it away with a brush of your thumb as a soft smile spreads across your face.
 "I love you, Tokoyami Fumikage."

for @maycat-19-142
a little checkin letter from tokoyami (featuring some short musings on humanity)
Tumblr media
Dearest May,
I trust that things are well with you, my darling. While I wish I was there with you, I’m certain that you are more than capable of managing your affairs through any situation. You may not believe it, but you have the skills you need to face whatever the world may throw at you.
How is the car shop? You’ve always been skilled with the machines there, it’s almost as if you can speak to them, finding what is wrong and fixing it with parts and pieces that work better. I suppose that’s the beauty of technology - how it can be dealt with so methodically. Then again, the complexity of humanity is so wondrous, is it not? How people can grow and develop and change as they interact with everything around them, connecting with some and developing such anger towards others. But that’s enough with my musings on humanity.
There are nights when the only thing on my mind is you, dove, your shining blue eyes and deep violet hair. The truly bright smile you give only a few people, with not an ounce of negativity there, even if it’s only for an instant. Hold on to those moments when things are difficult - such a feeling will return in good time. It always will.
Until I see you again,
Fumikage

While Tokoyami does possess some qualities of bird behavior like his spring heat, soft chirps and pecks when he’s nuzzling against your head or in the crook of your neck; it’s really Dark Shadow that has more bird like behavior. Every date Tokoyami brings you some small gift, it’s impulse for him; limited edition books, flowers, chocolates, even small little antiques or trinkets he sees in the shop windows while he’s on patrol. Dark shadow also brings you small gifts, his though; are more along the lines of small crystals or shiny little rocks he’s found, seaglass from when they helped Tsu patrol the beach even feathers from the top of Tokoyami’s head and at first Tokoyami is so embarrassed. Until one night when he comes to pick you up for your date and you’re running a bit behind on getting ready so you invite him in. And then he sees them; two matching display cases, the ones with the lights built in, as he moves closer to get a better look he sees that each case is dedicated to the items that both him and Dark Shadow have given you. In Tokoyami’s you have the books he’s given you on one shelf, prints you’ve made of the flowers he’s given you and even some that are dried out, and then a small dish where you have the ribbons from the chocolate boxes he’s given you and the trinkets. The jewelry he had given you was locked away in an antique jewelry box you had refurbished yourself. In the other display had all the little items Dark shadow had given you, they sat organized and polished to a shimmering gleam. The feathers from Tokoyami’s head were turned into beautiful pens. As he stood there admiring the cases you walked into the living room putting in your earrings, as he turned around you noticed tears in his eyes. When you asked him what was wrong he just simply stated that he figured you would have thrown away most of the things that dark shadow had given you or wouldn’t go though the trouble of saving the flowers he had given you or the ribbons from the chocolates. You simply shrugged as you went up to wrap your arms around him, “I love you Fumi; I love the both of you and if Dark Shadow thinks something is important enough for me to have it of course I’m going to save it.” Safe to say Tokoyami started planning your proposal later that evening

Sun-Kissed, Tokoyami x Reader
Pairing: Tokoyami Fumikage x Reader
Word count: 5.5k
Description: In which Tokoyami loves the moon, but finds himself falling in love with light and life instead.
                                                            *
Very seldom did Tokoyami ever find something that made himself and his quirk feel at ease. That isn’t to say that there’s nothing that does the trick, but when it comes down to it, there is only one solitary thing that he can think of off the top of his head. Whether it be a long day of hectic and draining patrols that left his body feeling worn and his mind lagging behind with a sense of aimlessness or a strange day full of questions that would nag him as well as peculiar situations that wouldn’t leave the forefront of his innermost thoughts, nothing felt better than leaving for the outskirts of town to find this one particular place. Ironically enough, he’d always find himself perched on a high branch, hands clasped together in his lap as he sat on the broad, sturdy structure of the branch beneath him, leaning forward as if to get a closer look at the celestial body that would dance on its tiptoes over the small body of water ahead of him. Beams of silver light radiating from the night sky would bathe Earth and all of its inhabitants in its soothing glow which filled Tokoyami with a sense of ease and wonder he’d never known before. And sometimes, if he listens just hard enough, he swears he can hear the moon singing softly to him.
From time to time, he’ll try to pin down an actual melody and hum to it, but more often than not it’s not quite right. He should have known better than to believe he’d be able to sing alongside the moon, it’s always been so mysterious in its ways. The moon, who causes phenomena that no one can quite explain, also sings a tune so unpredictable and delightful that one can only hope to join the night sky’s choir in their dreams.
Tokoyami has always been a dreamer.
It’s been clear since he decided to be a pro hero and since he’d been admitted to UA. It became apparent that he’d make his dreams come true as he poured himself into starting his own hero agency with a small group of friends he’d graduated with. Dreams were what made him feel so enthralled with the idea of sleep. And with a melody that hasn’t even made itself fully known stuck on his mind all the time, he realizes that dreams also give him hopes and goals. Hopes to know the melody one day soon and goals to dedicate whatever time it takes to figure it out. And, then, there are just some dreams that don’t come true unless they want to.
He learned that when he ran into you on the way home late one night. A woman so caught up with her own life that she couldn’t force herself to slow down if her well-being depended on it. He knew as much as he watched you hurry past him toward the bus stop, tapping your fingers rhythmically on the side of your leg and murmuring something to yourself, almost as if trying to dedicate it to memory. With brows knitted together over your bright eyes and the scowl on your face, most would assume the wrong thing. Most would assume that you were angry, but Tokoyami likes to believe that a tired soul would know the other. You weren’t angry, no, you were trying to keep yourself on your feet for the sake of whatever was in store for you next. It wasn’t clear what you were up to or where you were going, but one thing was certain… Tokoyami would dream of a chance encounter such as this coming to find him again when the time was right.
He’s always been a dreamer.
And, as fate would have it, it worked out in his favor, yet again. It would be a brisk, early morning. The sun is just beginning to start its day alongside Tokoyami. As the sun breaks its way through the horizon dawning a new day filled with the promise of countless possibilities, Tokoyami breaks his way through the canopy of the trees, perching himself on that high-up branch somewhere far away from town. He doesn’t have to work until later on in the day, so he has decided to spend the first part of his day trying to find some inward peace. It isn’t the same without the moon and her midnight waltz, but somehow it feels better because the sun has appeared. Well, the personification thereof.
He’s not sure how he’d never noticed the house on the other side of the pond, but here in the daylight, he can see it plain as day. A beautiful little cottage, nestled between a few sparsely placed trees, with the shutters opened and boughs of ivy cascading down the sides of it. It looks like a home, one that feels so strange next to the woman he assumed would never be able to slow down. Yet, there she is, tending to her gardens and filling a basket with fresh vegetables and herbs. The contrast in comparison to the woman he met that day is stifling, yet he can’t help but feel as though it makes sense.
Leaning forward in hopes of catching a better view, he ends up slipping off of the edge of the branch. As he begins his plummet back down to the earth which lies in wait beneath him, he summons Dark Shadow who ultimately lightens the impact. He’s not sure either one of them wanted to find themselves back on the branch, not when there would be a possibility of waking up with you closer. There was no need for waking up, he never closed his eyes. Instead, he lay there, staring up at the sky, his view slightly skewed by the branches that tower above him. The way that the smaller ones sway in the breeze is nearly hypnotic, with soft movements that look to be nearly choreographed by some higher power.
And hypnotic as those swaying branches may be, he can’t help but feel himself lose any semblance of thought upon meeting your eyes. Colored so beautifully and clear as the night sky he’d seen many times, there was absolutely no way he’d seen a color so beautiful before in his life. And, looking at you, he knew that there was nothing that had ever been created with more care and intent as you.
You were perfect.
He’d never been one to believe in all of the myths and fables that would convey stories of gods and goddesses that had roamed the earth and done wonderful things. He had no reason to, not really. There was really nothing that a god would be capable of that people he’d met throughout his life wouldn’t be capable of either. There were people that could change the weather with physical power of their own rite and those who could create devastation with so much as the flick of a wrist, people who could move mountains and change the tides. He’d known so many people that have faced greater challenges than any god he’d ever heard of, who had done much more wondrous deeds and still remained humble. He’d convinced himself that there was no god worth meeting, until now.
You lean down, examining his features closely, your hand lightly brushing through his hair. The touch is so soft that it sends shivers throughout his entire body, making even Dark Shadow shiver. “Looked like you took a pretty big fall,” you whisper gently.
“It wasn’t that big,” he answers with a shaky breath, afraid that if he speaks too loudly it will all end. “Well, it was, but I’m alright. Dark Shadow lightened the blow for me. It’s nothing I’m not used to.”
“Is that so?” You smile. “I guess that’d sound about right for a hero or something, though I can’t imagine any reason why a pro would be all the way out here.”
He sits up slowly and takes in his surroundings as if he’d never seen the place before. Yeah, everything looks the same. “I can think of a few.” He mourns the loss of your touch as you pull your hand away, eyeing him curiously. The daze is starting to settle as he speaks again, “I think I found paradise here.”
“I won’t tell you that you’re wrong,” you giggle. “It is pretty great, isn’t it?” He nods. “Thank you. I did it all on my own. It took a lot of work, but I like to think it’s worth it.”
“You did all this?”
“Yep. I do it every day,” you smile. “Would you like a closer look?”
He gulps, unsure of himself. He doesn’t want to be too forward by saying yes, but he doesn’t want to miss the opportunity to spend more time with you, either. He looks down at his hands, trying to study them for some sort of answer. Maybe, if he tries hard enough, he can find the answer written somewhere between the lines. Yet, there is nothing written there. “You wouldn’t mind, would you?” he asks.
You hold your hand out for him to take, “Not at all. I’d be honored to have somebody else see my home.”
He takes your hand and you help pull him to his feet. He didn’t really need the help, but there was no way he’d refuse your hand. Not now, and likely never. You lead him from the tree line and through the clearing of land between that and your home. The closer you pull him to the place he’d only just noticed this morning, the more at peace he feels. It’s almost as if every burden he’d ever felt or will feel is melting from his shoulders like the last heavy snow of the winter disappearing from the rooftops that they burden. He can feel warmth unfurling throughout his entire body and his steps grow lighter. He can’t quite place if it’s due to the excitement and wonder that’s been ignited by this chance encounter, or if it happens to be because he’s truly found paradise. No matter the case, he has no desire to fight it whatsoever. Even walking past the gate of the fence adds a certain intensity to it all. He could almost cry due to the relief that floods his entire being like water overflowing from a glass that was never meant to carry something of such a large capacity.
Once beyond the gate, the land around your home seems to expand over a greater area of land than how it looks on the outside. There’s even a small forest that peeks above the roof of the cottage and small farmyard animals that graze on the grass around the area. It feels like something straight out of a fairytale book. His eyes fill with awe as he tries to take in everything. There’s no way that this is the same house he was seeing from atop the branch of that faraway tree. “Pretty neat, huh?” you ponder aloud.
“Neat? This is… unreal. How did you do all of this?” he asks.
You shrug, “Call it a quirk or something like that.”
“Something like that?” he asks, incredulously.
“Something like that,” you smirk. “Come on. There’s a lot for you to see.”
He follows you through all of the gardens which grow a vast number of summer vegetables such as tomatoes, okra, a variety of squash, and many more. Not to mention the herbs, he can’t imagine how you’d use every last one. There are raised beds and plots of perfectly cultivated land, even an orchard where the fruit is grown. It’s hard to believe that there’s enough space for all of it. There’s no way that there’s that much space.
You even start to show him the field where animals such as sheep and cows roam and fill their bellies with the grass that grows so high that it tickles his ankles. Then, it’s on to the small forest that he saw from the front of the yard when he entered. It looks like it goes on for miles, but he can’t know for sure, at least not from here. He’d need a bird’s eye view to figure it out on his own. But, inside there are more animals, all of these being more of the undomesticated assortment. Deer, rabbits, snakes, frogs, birds, and so much more. Even so, they’re all so friendly with you. And, it’s then that he convinces himself you’re no mere human. No, you truly must be the goddess he initially believed you to be.
“I think we’ve done enough exploring for now. Lunch should be almost ready, would you like to eat something before heading home?” you ask. “And before you ask, I don’t mind. There’s more than enough to share. I’ve been working on a new bread recipe, and I think this one is it. It should be almost done baking, so while it cools we can cut up some stuff for sandwiches. I know it’s nothing special, but it’ll fill the hole in your stomach.”
He smiles, “No, it sounds perfect.”
“I’m glad to hear it.”
Within minutes, you two have returned to the front of the property and have walked into the cottage. The sound of wind chimes and soft music fills the silence that has been lingering between the two of you. You walk across the floor, setting down the basket of fruits, vegetables, and herbs you’d collected while you were outside, and go to wash your hands. Tokoyami stands in the middle of the kitchen, looking around at the pots and pans hanging from the fixture attached to the ceiling while enjoying the smell of the freshly baked goodies that are causing his mouth to water. You pat your hands dry on the dish towel by the sink and take the bread out of the oven, setting it out on the cooling rack. “Are ham sandwiches okay?” you inquire, walking to the refrigerator.
“Yeah, those sound great.”
He watches as you pull a number of things from the refrigerator, starting with the ham and a variety of cheeses, as well as jars of what look like homemade condiments and pickled vegetables. “Alright, feel free to use whatever you like, if you want a certain type of fresh vegetable, feel free to cut it up or ask me for some of what I’m cutting,” you explain. “It’s free reign.”
“Thank you,” he replies, turning to find a number of things to put on his sandwich. He ends up cutting up some tomatoes, red onion, and shredding some carrots. By the time you finish preparing the things for your sandwiches, the bread has cooled enough for you to cut a few slices of it off.
You both eat your lunch and converse back and forth for a while. He tells you of his work and you tell him of your life here in the cottage. You tell one another about things that excite you and make you feel at peace with the world. You ask questions, and so does he. The entire conversation feels organic, like the two of you had known each other ages ago and are just trying to learn about the people you’ve become during your time apart. It’s refreshing, to say the least. It gives you both hope and a sense of wonder about moving into the future of your friendship.
By the end of your meals, you’ve both become proper friends. He helps you clean up before leaving. You walk him back to the gate, the sun already beginning to settle back below its highest point for the day, starting to make its descent back below the horizon. It’ll be another few hours before then, but it’s weird to think so much time has already passed. He stops and turns upon stepping beyond the gate and smiles. “Thank you for showing me around and for the delicious lunch. I think the bread recipe is a winner,” he says.
“I think so, too. I think the key was good company to share it with.”
He nods, “I’ll believe you. We should try and do this again, sometimes.”
“I’d love that!” you beam excitedly. “It all just depends on when you’ll see me again.”
“And, when will that be?”
You tilt your head and look up to the sky. “Either on another really good day or a really bad one,” you reason. “I guess we’ll find out when we find out.”
“Yeah, I guess so.”
With that, Tokoyami takes his leave and heads on about the rest of his day before reporting in for his shift at the agency. As far as days go, this one turns out to be rather mundane. Only a few small-time villains doing silly crimes and the asinine process of filing paperwork on all of it when he gets back from the office. He tries to hurry through much of it, growing impatient in his efforts to make it back to his branch so that he may get a glimpse of that lovely cottage bathed in the moonlight.
But, when he returns, there’s no cottage to be seen. There are no gardens, no farm animals, no forest that he swore would go on for miles. All of it was gone. All that remains is a small plot of land next to the pond he used to sit and admire wholeheartedly. And, now, he can’t help but sit and look at it with disappointment sitting heavy in his chest. It doesn’t feel the same somehow. Yet, the moon still sings its tune and he tries to sing along.
In the days that follow, he didn’t get to return to his spot until after dark. With each visit, he would hope that the cottage would magically reappear, though he’s never surprised when it doesn’t. Maybe he’d dreamed it, perhaps it was never really there, to begin with. Is it possible he’d dreamt of you too?
No. That can’t be. He’d seen you, talked to you. You were as real as the air that he breathes. You were real, and he’d have to convince himself of that until he saw you again on a rainy day as you walked in a frazzled hurry just as you had the first night he saw you. He can see your eyes flickering around the city, taking in the sight of the buildings and the way that the rain cascades over everything in its wake, making all of it appear so dreary.
As he begins to approach you, he can hear you softly talking to yourself. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry I can’t work today,” you murmur. He stops where he stands as you draw closer, and he can see the tear tracks staining your cheeks. It could be the rain, but with the upset expression on your face, it’s plain to see that that isn’t the case. Besides, when you’re whispering that you’re sorry for not being able to work, it’s only logical to assume that you’d be crying. “I’ll do better tomorrow. I have to do better tomorrow,” is the last thing he can hear clearly before you walk past, fading into the crowd of people and their umbrellas.
The words would haunt him until a week or so later when he’d finally get to return to his spot during the day. Unfortunately, the cottage is still missing, but in its place stands a Tudor-style home. Smoke billows from the chimney in large clouds of grey, and there you sit in the window. You’re curled up on a chair in a position that looks impossibly uncomfortable, but you look content, especially with your eyes trailing along the pages of a book. He squares his shoulders back and again he can feel that relief just like the first time.
He knocks on the door and it takes you a moment to answer the door. But when you do, you’re smiling again. The corners of your mouth are pulled from ear to ear and there even seems to be a slight glow about you. It’s intoxicating, your smile. He hasn’t stopped thinking about it since you last parted ways, especially after he came across you that day. It’s good to know that you’ve smiled since then. He clears his throat, prepared to speak, but you beat him to it. “Well, it looks like it a wonderful day is in store. Look who stopped by,” you chime. “I didn’t think I’d actually ever see you again.”
“Why’s that?” he asks.
You frown, your thoughts etched across your face. “Well, I don’t know. It was more a feeling, really. Not many people tend to figure out how I work well enough to see me twice, at least not in this form. Would you like to come in? I can make you some tea.”
“Of course,” he answers. “I’d love that.”
He follows you inside, and it already didn’t look like your home from the outside, and it certainly doesn’t inside either. The open concept that once characterized your home is gone now, replaced by clutter and tight halls. Even so, sunlight streams into the open space. Perfect little rivulets of warmth, comfort, and light filling the air and bringing life to your new home. You branch off into the kitchen as he wanders into the living room to see a fire roaring in your fireplace, and despite the summer heat, it feels perfect here. You walk back in a few minutes later, humming a soft tune as you set down two mugs of tea.
Tokoyami looks at you with wide eyes as he listens to your softly hummed tune. Why does it sound so familiar yet so different? He listens carefully and realizes one very important thing. It’s consistent, he can follow where it’s going. He can hum along. There’s no capriciousness or touch and go about it. No, for once, he can hear the moon’s soothing hymn, though something tells him he’s no longer listening for the moon.
You take your seat across from him, in the same chair you’d been sitting in when he arrived. The chair is covered in soft, plush blankets and fluffy pillows, which you make yourself comfortable with before reaching out for your book. “Y/N, can I ask you a question?” He asks.
You look up from the book you’d just opened and nod. “Anything. Think you’ll ask the right one?”
“I can only hope so.” He pauses, trying to think of exactly what it is he wants to ask. A certain thought gnaws at the back of his mind, carving out any logic that seems to have held him together all this time. Nothing about you is logical, he knows it. From your sudden appearance to the strange things you say, and tying all together with the house. He takes his tea and cups it in both hands before speaking again. “You aren’t human, are you? You’re something more than that.”
“Hm,” you manage. “That’s an interesting question. Why that one?”
He frowns. He knows why he chose that question, but how does he explain it without running the risk of sounding insane? What if it turns out that you’re just a very peculiar girl? He shakes his head, “It’s just a hunch.”
You giggle, the sound is magical. “Good hunch you’ve got there. No, I’m not human. But I’m not more than human, either. I just am.”
“So, what are you?” He asks.
“I think it’d be more fun to let you figure it out on your own,” you muse. “You’ve already gotten this far. I have no doubt you’ll get it in time.”
And as time passed, the stranger you became. Your home was different each time, each one reflecting more on the person you were that day. On days you were happy and feeling more in touch with yourself, it was a cottage, full of all the wonderful things he’d seen that first time. When you felt more cozy and relaxed, it was Tudor style. There were other homes for other moods too, something modern on your more eccentric and idea-filled days, Craftsman for your more productive days, and the Mediterranean for your more restless ones. He loved each of them, he loved how they always looked so different. He never grew tired of seeing what each day had in store.
Though there were days there would be no house at all. Those were the days he’d run into you in the strangest places doing the strangest things. They were also the days when you would be so distraught with whatever was going on that you wouldn’t even realize who he was when he’d approach you to ask if everything is okay. Those days always left an empty, sinking feeling inside of him, something akin to a black hole whose singularity is centered at his heart and eats him up entirely. He never likes to see you upset, but to be put in a position where he’s utterly helpless to you made it that much worse.
Tokoyami was falling more and more in love with who you were. A kind, caring soul who strives to nurture everything within your surroundings. You bring light and warmth to those around you. To be in your presence is most similar to being wrapped up in a blanket fresh out of the dryer. To be with you is to be safe and comfortable. Everything about you screams light and life, and he can’t help but find it ironic that he’s grown so fond of someone he considers to be the personification of light. To have always considered himself the personification of darkness and to find himself falling in love with the light in such a way is funny. What’s funnier is that he never thought about the fact that the two work wonderfully together.
He’d heard it thousands of times before, there can’t be light without the dark and the other way around. And though he’s never cared much for that sentiment as it separates the two, he finds himself approaching it differently these days. The two do not take from one another. They aren’t separate, not really. No, there’s always a fine point where the two blend together to create a strange sublime space, a place where they coincide and mingle. There in that space, the two mingle harmoniously, fingers intertwined to create a beautiful contrast as well as something so utterly harmonious that people seldom take the time to acknowledge it— so rarely acknowledged that there isn’t even a name for it.
He calls it heaven.
But, who would be so lucky as to find Heaven and get to keep it? Heaven is meant to be longed for, not to be fought for.
Yet, here he is. Perched on his branch, in the dark. He feels hollow, watching the moonlight dance, knowing that today you saw his face and had no clue who he was. You kept muttering about not doing enough, not being enough. Hearing it tore his heart to shreds. He knows the truth. He knows that what you do is more than enough. He knows that you’re always doing your best, even if you don’t, even if others don’t. He knows.
He looks up to the moon, a friend he’s known for a while. He knows it's been a while since he’s spoken, but he feels compelled to do so now. If not for himself, then for you. He inhales deeply before letting it all out and whispering his onesided conversation to himself, his prayer. “If there’s someone listening, I just want to ask one thing of you. Just, let me have this. I want to have this. She’s become everything to me, and I don’t want to imagine a life where we aren’t with one another all the time. I want her to love me on her good days and remember me on her bad ones. I want to love her through all of it and support her, too. I know, I know that I don’t talk much anymore. But, please, just let me have this. This one thing.”
Tokoyami falls silent after that, soaking up the still silence that he used to relish in. Even the moon’s soft sung hymn is nowhere within earshot, and somehow he’s okay with that. He’s come to associate it more with the sun anyway.
The sun.
That’s it.
You are the sun.
He’d spent so long wondering when you’d just let something slip and give it away that he never noticed all of the tell-tale signs that made it make sense. It all comes together when he thinks of the warmth and the light that radiates from you in neverending waves. It makes sense when he thinks about your bad days and how it’s always cloudy or raining, how there’s thunder that bellows from behind the clouds and lightning that brings more destruction than it does life. After being by your side for almost a year, he realizes how often you’d disappear sooner during the winter months and how moody you’d gotten during the turbulent spring. But the summer, that’s when you shine your brightest.
He should’ve known sooner. He should’ve known. Because, just as the moon had fallen in love with the water and all of its ripples and mysteries, Tokoyami had fallen in love with you and all of the little things that made you yourself.
He brings it up to you over tea one day. “Y/N. I think I finally figured it out,” he whispers.
“Oh, have you?” you smirk.
He nods. “I think so. It sounds silly, but I think you’re the sun. I think you’re the personification of the sun.”
He’d said it so plainly, almost as if it were a well-known fact. It wasn’t anything you could’ve ever seen coming, so of course, it took you back a few paces. No one has ever stuck around long enough to realize that there was anything any different about you at all, but he’d figured it out in a few weeks' time… and a little over a year later he got to the bottom of it. The mere thought brought tears to your eyes, but for the first time in a long time, they were happy tears. Tears that would nourish instead of destroying everything you’d worked so hard to protect. You could tell that it made Tokoyami somewhat uneasy, so you assured him. “I’m fine, really. I just never expected you to get it,” you cry.
“I’m right?”
“Yes, you’re right. Gods, goddesses, myths, legends, whatever you want to call them. Some of them hold truth. I’m not the way that I am mere because I decided to be or because of some quirk. No, I’ve been around since the beginning of time, and not once have I ever met a soul that could figure me out the way that you have,” you explain. “And, it is such a great feeling. Even my sister, she’s found many that loved her kindness and her inconsistencies enough to understand why they are there. But you, born of darkness so you say, have been the first to truly discover me, and for that… I thank you.”
“There’s no need to thank me. I’m honored that I have been the one to love you enough to understand,” he replies quietly. “And, I’ll continue to do so throughout the rest of this life and any other I may be given.”
You look up at him, from across the small table the two of you are sitting at. For almost a year, this table has felt like such a massive gap between the two of you. Certainly, the lack of knowledge has assisted in maintaining that gap, but with that out of the way, it feels so minuscule. He watches as you lean across the table, bringing each of your faces closer and closer together so that they’re only a few centimeters apart. Your hand cups his cheek and he melts into the touch, knowing that Heaven might be his after all. You smile and press a soft kiss to the tip of his beak. Tokoyami looks up at you, his heart racing erratically in his chest. He can’t believe that he’d be so lucky.
Even years later, he still can’t fathom how lucky he’d gotten. Though the house changes every day, he gets to call your home his own as well. On good days, he gets to love you devotedly, with every bit of his being. Bad days still happen, and he’s still distraught at the sight of seeing you hurting, but at least you remember him enough on those days that he can be there for you. On the in-between days, the two of you enjoy everything that life has to offer. He spends years admiring and cherishing the heaven that he’d found, worshipping a goddess that worships him all the same. He hopes to sing her praises in his next life and every life after that. And, as he ages, watching himself turn feeble and grey, he watches as you remain all the same. Just as beautiful as the day he’d first seen you, and just as bright. He knows he’ll find you, always. And, when he sits to think about the life you shared with one another, he can’t help but feel immensely grateful that he was the one that got to be sun-kissed.

Class 1-A Boys Being Protective of You
Pairing: Izuku Midorya, Bakugo Katsuki, Eijirou Kirishima, Tenya Iida, Denki Kaminari, Shoto Todoroki, Mashirao Ojiro, Fumikage Tokoyami x Fem!Reader
Tags: fluff, established relationship, comfort, soothing kisses, protectiveness, slight threats, public display of affection
A/N: Had this one in the draft for the longest time and it was mostly finished anyway, so me being sick I decided to finish this cause honestly I need some wholesome stuff to think about right now.
Tumblr media
Deku knows a little something about people being bullies or just being pushy with what they want. He want through a lot because of that and won't tolerate such behavior in the slightest.
Before he might have been more meek or quiet but not anymore. Not when he has something, someone to fight for and protect. He's not the violent type though so he'd try to, and succeed very easily, at being menacing with his Quirk sparking around him and scaring your bullies away.
Tumblr media
Bakugo has an explosive temper as is. He has gotten a lit better at controlling it but do you think he'd be able to hold back if he saw people being mean to you? Hell no.
He's already grabbing them by the shoulders and screaming into their face to back the fuck off or else the Number One Hero and his classmate won't be the only ones with burn marks. Once they run away with their tail between their legs he calls them morons before turning to you and wrapping his arms around you in a protective guesture.
Tumblr media
Like Bakugo, Kirishima has a hot temper but he's more fired up about protecting you than beating living crap out of whoever is talking bad about you. That doesn't mean that he won't throw a few punches as a warning though.
Honestly one angry look from him combined with his body hardening can send most people packing. If it doesn't he will throw down no problem, ain't no way someone disrespecting you and getting away with it.
Tumblr media
Tenya can act on impulse when he's really pumped up about something but he mostly maintains a cool head. He wants to prove himself as a worthy hero and boyfriend so when you walk together his protective instincts go into overdrive.
He keeps his arm around you, smiling at you the whole time and talking loudly and energetically, lifting up your mood. Even if someone does try to approach and they display bad intentions he can easily remove both of you from the situation by using his Quirk without causing much of a ruckus.
Tumblr media
Denki is super high energy but he's also got an ego that can easily rival that of Bakugo. Because of that he often assumes that by his reputation alone no one will try anything funny with you.
If that does happen, while he can sometimes act like he doesn't handle fight situations the best no opponent is to powerful or intimidating when it comes to your safety. He'll even make himself go overboard if need be but that doesn't happen that often. He's very good at comforting you after the fact and does whatever he possibly can to take your mind off the incident, even if that means acting a little silly in the process. Doesn't matter, anything for you.
Tumblr media
Shoto is very level-headed unless provoked. Angering him is like asking for trouble and people do it anyway just because they want to see a reaction from Endevor's son. Usually he doesn't mind however when you're involved it's a whole different story.
He will gladly show them what he's capable of by turning up the heat around them enough to make them sweat bullets while he shields you from it with his ice and body. Immediately after they're gone he'll pull you into a soft kiss and ask if you're alright, cupping your face in his hand like you're his whole world.
Tumblr media
Ojiro might be a kind and gentle soul towards most people but he won't stand by while his girlfriend gets talked down to by jerks. He pulls you to his side with his tail and holds you to his chest, casting a deadly look to the people who were bothering you.
He'd rather settle it without resorting to violence but hey if they're being pushy he'll push right back. Hard. He's got enough sense not to go too hard on them, he doesn't want to kill them, but he roughs them up enough so they never think about harassing anyone ever again.
Tumblr media
Tokoyami is a hard person to get to, his withdrawn demeanor sometimes makes even you guess what he's thinking. That being said there's no doubt at what he's thinking when he's face to face with your bullies.
People are scared of him already so combined with his Quirk he can look like the stuff of nightmares, or dreams if it you. Since he obtained his flying ability he's gotten better at taking you away from harm before things escalate too much but he can't guarantee that he won't make your bullies think twice about approaching you when he's around.
