Dating Tony Stark Headcanons

He's a menace. Literally. He's forgetful and negligent to everyone and everything else. But in your case, he's the exact opposite.

He's always on time, never forgets any of your dates, remembers your birthday and gets you something nice every year.

This is just the beginning.

You're extremely precious to him because you finally agreed to date him after many rejections. You were afraid to get your heart broken because of his playboy image but agreed to be his girlfriend eventually.

You liked Tony, you really did but you didn't want your heart broken. So at the beginning of the relationship, you told yourself to not expect anything much from him.

But he disappointed you. In the best way possible.

He showered you with gifts, and more importantly, time. He loved being in his lab, but he always made sure to reserve some time in his day to spend with you.

Sometimes, when he doesn't know what to give you, he buys you a bunch of expensive stuff. When you see all of those gifts, you almost faint because no way in hell someone bought something that expensive for you.

Women are jealous of you because of your relationship with Tony. You get hate mail, and rude messages and have a hard time making new friends.

You could care less. You love Tony and don't want toxic people around you anyway.

He may seem like a shallow and self-centred person, he is plenty self-centred, but he's not shallow. He has tons of files on you (with your consent, of course) and he loves to know more about you so that he can make you happier.

He's always scared of losing you.

You don't know this, but he has an Iron Man suit made for you for your safety and plans to give it to you on a special occasion.

Tony's not the perfect boyfriend, he knows that too. But he'll do the best he can for you because you're his beloved girlfriend, the one person who's irreplaceable in his life.

Sure, Tony Stark is a hero and entertaining and I enjoy him well enough, but his motivations more often than not boil down to being self centered and selfish (and the movies don't highlight that nearly enough, which naturally makes me care more than I actually do)

the caught some big bad guy, and vance tells mcgee its time for him to retire, citing the ep he got shot. he asks mcgee to take over as director of ncis. mcgee flashes back to the different seasons, and says yes.

we cut to a ceremony a while later. our current team is there. most of ncis is there. then someone, no, two someones, NO, THREE someones quickly rush into the room. mcgee looks up to see tony, ziva, and abby, all looking various shades of happy, abby looking positively ecstatic. mcgee greets them, telling them how glad he is to see them. tony tells him that they werent the only people to come. cut to the door opening one more time, and we do some cuts back and forth, finally revealing

gibbs.

gibbs tells mcgee that he has faith in him. mcgee gets all choked up, even calling gibbs boss once more. vance tells mcgee its almost time for the ceremony. before mcgee goes to the stage, gibbs tells him one last thing

“kate would be proud”

and mcgee just hugs gibbs, and gibbs hugs him back, patting his back. mcgee hurries off to the stage for the ceremony.

cut to the directors office, mcgee just enters quietly, walking around and observing his new office. he hears a voice, turns around to see kate.

she tells him that hes not a probie anymore, asking if he ever thought hed get this far when he was being shot at from a rooftop and being shielded by a car. he answers that he wasnt sure how he was going to continue working at ncis without her. she gestures to the office, walking around as the camera follows her. she tells him that he mudtve done /something/ right as the camera spins back around to focus on mcgee’s face.

theres a knock on the door behind him, and the camera cuts behind him, showing us that kate is gone, as we hear tony, ziva, abby, gibbs and vance enter the office. vamce tells him that he came back for the extra whiskey in the cabinet, and that the others followed him. tony remarks that they couldnt exactly go back to gibbs’ house for drinks after work anymore. abby hugs mcgee again, and ziva asks mcgee if hes gonna pour them drinks. he pours 6 glasses, then another one, setting it on the table.

vance asks who its for. gibbs just smirks, answering that its kate’s, isnt it? mcgee nods, and they all clink glasses, and the episode ends

Honestly, I don't think at any point Steve and Tony were friends. Maybe some comradery between allies but never true friends. But it is kinda funny to imagine that Tony is so used to his friends, Pepper, Rhodie and Happy staring at him with dead inside eyes constantly annoyed with antics that he didn't understand that when it came to Steve that wasn't a friendship when he did it

I'm now imagining Steve rolling his eyes and giving him that Disappointed Rogers™ look and Stark thinking they're now friends because everyone in his life has the same reaction to his bullshit 😂

They were never friends and I don't care what the Russos tried to claim in CW and subsequent movies. "He's my friend" - "So was I". Uh... when? When he kept the truth about Ultron? When he kept discussing his experience during the invasion as if the rest of the team hadn't been there too and were probably traumatized by it as well? When he made jokes at Steve's expense even though he had just been out of the ice for a couple weeks? When he refused to listen to him in the airport in Germany? When he declined to inform him of the Accords even though he knew about them beforehand and knew Steve, as an enhanced, would be directly targeted by them? When he almost murdered Bucky because he wanted to hurt Steve?

And those are only a few, there are more. I don't see a friendship there.

A point could be made that this is true for the entire Avengers team. TWS was a breath of fresh air as it gave us Steve, Nat and Sam as a group of actual friends and that was carried out until the end (even though I'm still pissed that Sam is not allowed to say anything about Nat, he never mentions her, I don't like that). But the others? Besides Steve and Bucky, the other relationships are romances: Wanda and Vis, Clint and Laura, Nat and Bruce. Thor seemed somewhat closer to Steve than anyone else but they never quite explored that -- which is a huge shame because in the comics they're AMAZING.

With Steve and Stark we're told they were friends and EG tries to paint them even closer but that's utter bullshit. They were co-workers who tolerated each other only when they needed to. I mean, who was Steve hanging out with at the party in AoU? Sam and Thor.
