i've been doing a south park inktober challenge i found ^_^ i'm pretty behind but i'll catch up!

idk if awesom-o is my favorite of ALL the episodes but i've been meaning to draw it for a while so I took the chance!

I think it's kinda interesting how, while the Beasts are opposites of the Ancients, some feel like reflections to Ancients they're not directly related to.

Starting with the pair that feels most obvious, Silent Salt and Dark Cacao. Their designs especially seem similar with the armor, sword, and color palette. Silence also feels like it can be related to Dark Cacao's isolation during his previous arc.

This feels the same as with Pure Vanilla and Mystic Flour. Again with their color palettes, but also with their religious theming, both being obligated to help all those that seek their guidance.

Again, mostly similar vibe with these two. You could even argue that Destruction can be considered an extention of Passion in a way. These next pairs get a bit weaker with their comparisons, which is why I started with the strongest ones first.

My comparisons for Golden Cheese and Eternal Sugar come down to both of them having wings and some speculation I have. "Eternal" I feel could imply abundance, which may be a motivation for Eternal Sugar's slothfulness. It's possible they simply have all they desire, thus no longer having the will to do anything.

Lastly, for White Lily Cookie and Shadow Milk, the biggest point of comparison I have is that Shadow Milk Cookie's theatrical presentation could also be considered an extention of freedom (especially since it's implied that he used to be an academic). This is the one I really stretch the most with, I'd say.

Why do I bring any of this up? What I think about these possible links is that the Beasts reflect what each of the Ancients could become, if taken to their logical extreme. Also, with those that share their Soul Jams being their opposites (Pure Vanilla being truth and Shadow Milk being deceit, etc.), it can imply that each of the Ancients are each other's opposites as well. Opposites that mesh well enough despite it, anyway.

I'm bad at analysis, so do what you will with this. I don't know if this is anything. Implications and whatnot.

✨Dante has a small plush collection that is hidden in the back of his closet, ones that can be easily put under the floorboard for safe keeping of course. No one has found the stash yet, but it exists and Patty is partly to blame.

✨Vergil 100% sings in the shower but quietly enough that no one will hear him… unless you’re Dante, in which case that man is sworn to secrecy by threats of several swords through the back

✨Lady wears contacts some days to cover up her heterochromatic eyes, especially so when her favorite pair of glasses broke and she’s required to go incognito.

✨Patty is the ONLY person allowed to braid both Dante and Trish’s hair, the red Devil being subjected to the ordeals when she drops in

✨Nero doesn’t like hot chocolate because of one particular event back when he was within the Order of the Sword, will only eat it if offered from Kyrie (and in rare cases Dante)

✨Trish is the next best person (Nero is default when available) to go to when punishing/scolding Dante and Vergil when they’ve been little shits supreme, unintentionally using the all powerful motherly look of “do this again and I will turn the car right fucking around”.

✨Nico is a nerd. A nerd of all nerds beyond being a mechanic nerd, the awkward but sweet kind of nerd. You want to know what the run down is? You go to Nico, then Lady or Trish… being an arms dealer has its perks (and debuffs)

✨Kyrie is the multitasking goddess. No one, and I mean no one, can compare to her skills in not only planning stuff, but also finding the resources– MULTIPLE resources– for said things… just do not ask her to deal with anything demonic, her brain will fry and she’ll need to have a cup of coffee to fix herself.

By the way... that wing au

The air nomads are generally the people who got wings proportional enough to actually fly with considering their element and all, lots of sea bird wings and cliff diving wings there depending on if they were more or less nomadic. (Air Nomad dating custom? Death dives. Aang keeps asking katara to ride scary animals with him or watch him almost get eaten by sea monsters for a reason not that he knows that)

Earth Kingdom gets the opposite end of the spectrum as air and flight is very far away from their home element. Lots of burrowing bird types, flightless bird types. Some peafowl like plumage in some nobility lines.

Water tribe gets waterbird wings of course, or cold weather birds, again dependant on where they settled more or less water or snow (swamp tribes lent more towards the fishing / wading birds) they all have strong wings, for the swimming.

Fire nation get the rest. Wind is the sister element to fire, you know, and even if fire should stay rooted they've got flight in their bones. Lotsa diamorphic wings there like hummingbirds or birds of paradise. The fancy ones with fancy courting habits, you know. Partridge-grouse wings too. It's said that those particularly blessed get dragon wings.

After the war of course the national standard for wing beauty were agile statement wings of red and black. Fire Nation colors mostly, you know. Having wings too big or too small or too neutral toned was kind of a faux pas

Anyways. Zuko's wings are awkwardly large and pitch colored. They've always been oversized for him. It's unseemly especially because they make him clumsy. Any subtle gesture becomes unwieldy. Ursa coos over them obviously, she says they're perfect. Ozai wouldn't necessarily have a problem with them if Zuko could do anything useful with them (ozai's wings are half the size and a kind of mottled brown. He is absolutely not pleased his son is outgrowing him).

Azula has sharp, agile wings. Too small to fly with but flashy and perfect for posturing (she figures out how to fly by herself anyways). The pinions are almost transparent and are iridescent. They're sheened with an electric blue. I think she learns to weild blue fire entirely to match. Also, because anyone snickering about how ostentatious they are shuts up when they realize she color coordinates. With her fists. (Azula keeps flinging herself off cliffs. She keeps expecting someone to follow.)

Zuko learns to keep his wings bunched up tight against his back especially after being banished. (I cannot decide if ozai fucks up one of zuko's wings as well or if zuko manages to do it pre season 1. One of his wings Is fucked up though) They're a hazard in the ocean wind and spray anyways and he yells enough to cover for everything else (his scar, his wings, his failures) so they don't matter.

(Keeping them braced helps with his signature move. Not the Fire daggers; the break dancing kick. No one expects anyone to spin around on their back with fucking wings zuko what the hell??? But zuko has had enough of ending up on his back defenseless)

It's even more important after becoming a fugitive because his wings are too large for the earth kingdom. They draw too much attention. So do his eyes, and scar.

His wings are half the reason jet notices him on the ferry. (And his scar and his swords and his furious scowl and—)

(Zuko keeps throwing himself off cliffs. He does not know how to catch himself with jet flame the way azula does. He does not expect anyone to follow but he has, more often than not, latched on to someone and yanked them off with him.)

Zuko doesn't quite grow into his wings. Even if one wasn't messed up they're too big and heavy to fly with. But, little gold spots start growing in. Speckling along the plumage as he molts. Not ostentatious but pretty fetching.

Azula and Zuko make a pair, standing next to each other.

(So do katara and sokka. Katara's wings are round edged and wide. Fluffy, white and spotted. Insulating. Sokka's are sharp and blue-grey. A hunter's wings. A shore-diver.)

(Would it be funny if Jet had the wings of a wood pecker?)

Iroh keeps trying to get his nephew to relax but zuko has been tense since he was 11 there's no way he's relaxing now. His mom was the one to help preen zuko's stupidly large wings as a child, after she left he did a... passable enough job on his own and after banishment he just gave up. At first it hurt too much but after his wing recovered it was just too much work for something he didn't care for.

(Jet really wants to get his hands on Lee's wings. He'd thought Lee could fit in with them and preening was a group activity. Jet loved straightening out his kid's feathers. Jet does, decidedly, Not get to do this.)

(Jet lived most of his life in the trees, jumping from one branch to the next. He knows cliff diving when he sees it.)

It's the Gaang (it's definitely Toph, because she can't see and can only know that Zuko's too tense and stiff and holding his over large wings awkwardly as they go from temple to sea side to Ember Island and she decides that's it. He is gonna pick out the sand from her coverts and she is going to get his shoulders to untense if she has to throw rocks at him) (interestingly, and completely unrelatedly, because toph gets a lot of crushes but she's adopting zuko not courting him, did you know that some birds brings rocks to their loved ones. To make nests. The rock has to be a pretty nice rock to work) that finally gets Zuko to stretch his wings a bit.

(Zuko jumps off the ledge at boiling rock and sokka is the one that catches him. Locks talons. Pulls him back up instead of letting him fall.)

(Azula jumps off the gondola, and one of her friend's follows her just the once. And then they both turn away from her. She is dashed against the cliffside)

Enough that when katara and zuko confront azula the difference is pretty striking. Zuko's well groomed for once and azula is— well. She is definitely not the most put together out of the two of them.

(When azula sobs, defeated, wreathed in blue fire, her wings flap and flutter and beat, hummingbird fast and out of control)

(Zuko had used his signature move against her. No one expects someone with wings to spin around on his fucking back what the hell Zuzu)

Zuko is crowned and he makes his speeches and his friends pile against him like turtle ducklings or parrot-skinks afterwards.

(Azula doesn't stay on the ground. Because zuko helps her up and did she know dragons immolate to show their favor? Dragons use fire for everything, none of this flighty air nomad bull shit, they just spit plasma from their mouths and whatever not worthy gets incinerated and whatever is left is. Well, by process of elimination, figure it out Azula. You're friends burned you but you're still alive. You survived the flames.)

Happy anniversary to me and AO3!!

Here is the aforementioned more coherent post. I have divided it in two parts: a little note and a silly and self-indulgent section (affectionate) where I give some of my fics fun lil superlatives. I'll add a couple little factoids to the latter section, too, just for giggles.

But before all that: I'm not gonna get emotional this time, but I have greatly enjoyed writing Dragon Age fic. I told myself three things when I started, all of them comically incorrect now ("I'm only writing this one story," "I will never write a soulmate AU," and "I will never write a DA2 story; no way could I ever hold a candle to what already exists") and I am so, so glad I was wrong on all counts. I have grown so much as a writer because of fic and I have met some genuinely remarkable people. If you have ever commented, written something in the tags, kudo'd, or bookmarked anything I've written (and especially if you have ever sent me a writing prompt, bless you), from the bottom of my heart: thank you. It has been genuinely incredible to share my love of this series with y'all, and I can only hope you have felt as glad of the experience as I have.

That's really all you need to know---that I'm glad to know you, in whatever sense that means. Thanks for sticking around c:

Anyways! (she says, setting up the cake and candles and kazoos even though the room is otherwise empty)---

I was thinking about what to do for this anniversary that only I am keeping track of, and I decided (because of a trip I took when I was sixteen, which I originally recounted here, but which has no bearing on any of this so I cut it) that it would be funny to give my fics their own imaginary certificates. You know, like participation trophies. For my own entertainment (only a few though; there are twenty-three of them, and that's too many awards). Awards follow:

Best Punch: Your Fate for Mine; after I finished Trespasser the first time, I really wanted to deck Solas, so I let Cullen do it for me. It's the best one because it was the most satisfying to write C: (fun fact also: bless him, my husband proofread all the smut in this fic for accuracy lmao. special side award to my husband for being the best)

Best Kiss: Wander the Drifting Roads; nothing has yet felt as satisfying to me as Emma and Cullen kissing in the rain after all that time. I think about it Often. Also I wrote the first draft of this fic in roughly a week and a half---which is why it needed so much editing later :)

Most Persistent: To the Bone; because I swear to whatever higher power is out there, I tried so hard not to write a soulmate story but Salshira would not be stopped. In the end, I couldn't let the idea go and well, here we are.

Specialest Baby: Tidal Lock; because it is my special baby and the first fic I ever completed. I have a soft spot for it, and oddly enough it has the highest kudos: bookmarks ratio of my works at over half. It was extremely fun to write Cullen as a kid (he is soooo serious) and (for me) there's such a pleasant full-circle element to the narrative.

Best Smut: More than Memory; this one is my imaginary people's choice award, since it was received far and away the best of any smut I've written. I think, and it's just my intuition here, that it's on account of all the yearning. But maybe it's actually cus Cullen is, as always, a hot, hot mess C:

Hyperfocus Award: This one's a tie between Misericordia and Saccharine. As soon as I knew what to write for both of them, I achieved that beautiful state of not noticing the passage of time, anyone around me, the existence of my physical body, nor any of my pressing irl tasks. I wrote both of these in a delightful fog and then came back to it later as if seeing it for the first time. Extremely nice experience, 10/10, would recommend.

Blue Ribbon, Gold Star: A Golden Bell Hung In My Heart; this one gets a special extra award because I think it's probably the best thing I've written so far (at least from a technical standpoint, but it has a lot of my favorite elements, as well). It's one of the few for which I knew what I was trying to write when I set out to write it, and I think I achieved it unequivocally. Also, you know. Presents :)

Tumblr Ficlet Award: lol I am not picking only one. Here're my top three ficlets, based on how pleased with myself I felt when I initially typed them out: Lock and Key (I loooooove a good hurt/comfort), A Fool and His Gold (love yearning, too), and A Bond Beheld (because it includes that knight/liege thing that makes the Cullen romance so!!!).

For posterity: Unless I finish this short fenris/hawke piece open in the other tab, my final word count last year is 516,937 which is....a shocking amount. I probably won't surpass that this year, which is fine. I had no idea I had at least 450,000 words to say about Cullen, but hey, here we are.

Milites sure is proud of that crystal jammer of theirs. Too bad it's useless against us. If they do use the jammer again, before we can even think about destroying it, our first priority will have to be getting Machina and Rem to safety.

I think Machina's not so much upset about his brother as he is anxious about the future. He's already lost his family, so he's probably just worried he might lose someone else. We all have people we don't want to forget. To Machina, his brother was probably one of those people—and that's why this whole experience has been so traumatizing for him.

I always suspected Machina resented us for the death of his brother, but I might have been wrong. I think he was actually upset that we couldn't do anything to help Rem. More than anything, though, I think he was frustrated with himself—frustrated that he of all people couldn't do anything to save her, either.

She was very entertaining and I loved seeing her development throughout the game. That is one of my MAIN GRIPES with the entire franchise— we get wonderful character development and arcs for many characters, but unless they re one of the mains, the change doesn't stay and they go right back to how they acted chapters ago just for a bit.

A/N:Gotcha! As with many requests, I went from 0 ideas to three million over night 😂 can never win. It's also very important to me that you know that I had to pause editing this to pet my cat 😍

This is literally the best possible outcome, in his mind. The only person who'd be worthy of you at NRC is Vil, but you can't date him, that's incest! (A poor lovesick Vil has tried to remind him time and again that you are not related, and Divus is neither of your dad. He got sent to his room for that) So Neige LeBlanch, a model, an actor, an RSA student, a man of culture….you could not have chosen better, puppy!

That said…he'll be keeping a close eye on Neige. If there's anything that needs retrained, Crewel will not hesitate to put that pup in his place! But he doubts that will be an issue…😒

Are you serious? This scrawny little prince boy is supposed to protect your fragile magic-less form? No fucking way!!!

Vargas training camp is back in session! He has to make sure that Neige is worthy! It'll only be you, him, and Neige, out in the middle of the forest. No matter how many times you tell him you can take care of yourself, and that Neige is actually top of his class at RSA, and is well versed in combat skills from his time as an actor, Vargas is never gonna hear it. All he hears is "blah blah bleh blah". Truly, you picked the highest maintenance man to be your dad.

He's eagerly ceasing negotiations with the mysterious guardian of Malleus Draconia, and going on and on about how wonderful this is, and how he raised a perfect little chick! Meanwhile you and Neige are awkwardly sitting in the chairs on the other side of his desk wondering if you should still be listening to this…

He's another one you'll have to remind that he didn't raise you. You just kind of got swept up under his wing! Almost literally! Neige doesn't have to buy him gifts. Niege doesn't have to ask his permission to remove you from the nest, which, by the way, you were forced to live in! You don't have to tell him what you and Neige are going to do today!

Then again…every time you remind him of those things he starts sobbing. And Neige is too sweet, and completely falls for the crocodile tears…so really it's up to you how you handle this.

He is totally fine with you dating. 😊

He is a man with means, who can afford a quick background check on Neige LeBlanch. It's not a personal thing, it's just he has spent so much time teaching the men at NRC, that he forgets there are non problematic men in existence.
