Mmmhh...
#(Basically rant on my last two posts)#I know I've said it before and sorry for coming off as annoying–#but I really wish we still had a central bsd blog on Tumblr like fy-bungoustraydogs or bsd-central or things of the kind.#I think now everyone rushes to post news first. And although there's merit to it in knowing news as soon as they happen‚#in the long run the death of this kind of central official content ***fan*** blogs is such a huge loss of fandom spaces‚#especially for the archiving purposes they solved. Especially today that T/witter and G/oogle have basically become unusable.#Literally. Literally. I've been doing official content archiving since I was 11#(because that's the very specific kind of mental illness I have)#and let me tell you that the quality of web search and especially reverse image search only got worse–#in a way that is very evident and noticeable. Which is crazy tbh and not how things should work.#If anyone would like to start a bsd-central kind of blog I'll be the first one to follow.#Actually if anyone actually wants to establish it feel free to contact me and I'll be more than happy to share the resources I have!!!!#It just needs to be something multi-modded for a series of reasons I won't get into right now#I just can't personally do it (not as main admin at least) because that would be modding my FIFTH active bsd blog–#and that's a little too much even for me.#On top of some ethical concerns I have regarding whether it'd be fair for me to mod a fandom central bsd blog–#when I feel like I can't genuinely share the same amount of love for the franchise other fans share#On top of. You know. Getting a degree eventually hopefully.#Then years after the blog has been solidly enstablished and aquired enough credibility it could even open a free donations found to invest–#in buying and scanning and releasing bsd content that hasn't been shared yet like the guidebooks or illustration books or everything else–#for everyone to see...#The dream. (Is realistically never going to happen) (Won't stop me from daydreaming about it every day)#((Still salty I couldn't afford the guidebooks only due to the shipment prices. I *would* have scanned and uploaded them.))#That was a long and idealistic rant. Kyotag out#Edit: *Modding my SIXTH bsd blog#Apparently I mod so many blogs I lost count of them

Tumblr media
In recent years, the landscape of entrepreneurship has seen a significant shift. No longer confined to traditional industries or models, young professionals are increasingly looking towards innovative and culturally rich ventures to make their mark in the business world. One such avenue that has captured the attention of aspiring entrepreneurs is the paan franchise. With Paan King Franchise opportunity you can be a part of the best banarasi paan franchise. For young professionals looking to break into the world of entrepreneurship, a paan franchise offers a unique blend of tradition, innovation, and profitability. Here’s why it’s becoming a popular choice:
Cultural Relevance and Appeal
Paan holds a special place in Indian culture often associated with festivals, weddings, and other celebrations. By investing in a paan franchise, young entrepreneurs can tap into this cultural relevance and appeal, positioning their business as more than just a food venture but as a cultural hub within the community.
Low Barrier to Entry
Compared to other franchise opportunities, the barrier to entry for a Paan franchise is relatively low. With minimal equipment and space requirements, young professionals can set up their franchise in a small storefront, kiosk, or even as part of a food court, making it an accessible option for those with limited resources.
Innovative Flavors and Offerings
While classic paan remains popular, modern paan franchises are innovating with new flavors, ingredients, and presentation styles to cater to evolving consumer preferences. From chocolate Paan and Fruit Paans to various fillings and toppings, there’s no shortage of creativity when it comes to paan offerings.
Flexible Business Models
Paan franchises offer flexibility in terms of business models, allowing young professionals to choose the format that best suits their goals and resources. Whether it’s a standalone store, mobile cart, or delivery service, entrepreneurs can tailor their franchises to fit their vision and target market.
Community Engagement Opportunities
Operating a paan franchise provides a lot of opportunities for community engagement and brand building. From sponsoring local events to collaborating with other businesses and influencers, young entrepreneurs can leverage their franchises to foster connections and support within their community.
Support from Franchisors
Paan King offers comprehensive training, marketing support, and ongoing assistance to franchisees, helping young professionals navigate the complexities of business ownership with confidence. How to Start a Low Investment Preschool Franchise with Bella Mente School
Preschool education is a cornerstone in a child's development, providing essential skills and a nurturing environment for their growth. For entrepreneurs looking to make a meaningful impact while also pursuing a business venture, starting a preschool franchise can be an attractive option. Despite the misconception that franchising requires substantial capital, there are opportunities available for low investment preschool franchise that offer excellent returns on investment.
Tumblr media
Research and Planning
Before diving into the world of franchising, thorough research and careful planning are essential. Begin by conducting market research to identify potential locations and target demographics. Look for areas with a high demand for preschool education but a limited supply of quality options. This will help you narrow down your options and focus your efforts on areas with the most potential for success.
Financial planning is another crucial aspect to consider when starting a low investment preschool franchise. Estimate your startup costs, including franchise fees, equipment, and initial marketing expenses. Explore funding options such as small business loans or grants to help cover these costs and minimize your upfront investment.
Choosing the Right Franchise
When selecting a franchise, it's essential to choose one that aligns with your values and goals. Look for reputable franchisors with a proven track record of success in the preschool industry. Consider factors such as the level of support and training provided, as well as any ongoing fees associated with the franchise.
Ensure that you thoroughly understand the franchise agreement before signing on the dotted line. Pay attention to the terms and conditions, as well as any restrictions or limitations that may impact your ability to operate the franchise successfully.
Building a Strong Brand
Creating a strong brand identity is crucial for attracting parents and caregivers to your preschool franchise. Develop a unique selling proposition (USP) that sets your franchise apart from the competition. Design a memorable logo and brand materials that convey professionalism and trustworthiness.
Utilize digital marketing strategies to promote your low cost preschool franchise to potential customers. Establish a strong online presence through a professional website and active social media profiles. Leverage search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to ensure that your franchise appears prominently in online searches for preschools in your area.
Setting Up Operations
Once you've selected a franchise and secured funding, it's time to set up operations. Acquire necessary licenses and permits to ensure compliance with local regulations. Hire qualified staff and teachers who are passionate about early childhood education and dedicated to providing a nurturing learning environment for young children.
Invest in quality equipment and educational materials to create engaging classrooms that foster creativity and learning. While it's important to stick to a budget, don't skimp on essential items that will enhance the overall experience for students and parents.
Launching and Promoting Your Franchise
A successful launch is crucial for generating excitement and attracting customers to your low cost preschool franchise. Plan a grand opening event to introduce your franchise to the community and showcase the unique features and benefits it offers. Implement marketing strategies such as local advertising, partnerships with community organizations, and special promotions to attract new customers. Build relationships with parents and caregivers by hosting open houses and parent orientations. Solicit feedback and testimonials to demonstrate the value of your franchise and build trust with potential customers.
Managing and Growing Your Business
Once your low cost preschool franchise is up and running, it's essential to focus on managing and growing your business. Monitor your financial performance closely, tracking revenue and expenses to ensure profitability. Provide ongoing training and support to staff to help them excel in their roles and deliver the highest quality care and education to students.
Consider expanding your services or locations to meet the growing demand for preschool education in your area. Add after-school programs or summer camps to attract new customers and generate additional revenue. Explore opportunities for franchising additional locations to further grow your business and make a positive impact in more communities.
In conclusion, starting a low cost preschool franchise is a rewarding opportunity for entrepreneurs who are passionate about early childhood education. By conducting thorough research, choosing the right franchise, and implementing effective marketing strategies, you can create a successful business that provides quality education and care to young children. With dedication and hard work, you can build a thriving franchise that makes a lasting difference in the lives of children and families in your community.

I know copyright and intellectual property is bullshit, but how do I tell that to someone who's convinced that it protects small artists?
tell them about bill mantlo, creator of rocket racoon, whose brother has to start gofundmes to pay his medical bills while marvel makes millions off that character's merch. or to gary friedrich, creator of ghost rider, who sued marvel for using the character at a point where it should have returned to him, lost, and was then counter-sued for selling merch including sketches for fans at conventions. or alan moore, who vowed to never work with DC again after he was screwed out of owning watchmen. or the archetypal examples of this phenomenon, jack kirby (co-creator of iron man, captain america, ant-man, the hulk, and a fuckton more characters) who of course was also screwed out of any ownership, or jerry siegel and joe shuster, who spent decades fighting over the copyright to superman, a character they created and sold for $130 as desperate struggling artists and who then went on to make millions for DC comics.
or if they're not a comics fan, why not talk to them about robert kurvitz, head writer of disco elysium, who through an extremely suspect purchase lost the rights to the world of elysium, representing his life's creative work. or to hideo kojima, who was forced out of konami, keeping absolutely no rights to his iconic metal gear franchise, and had his demo for Silent Hills made into fucking vaporware that nobody can download anymore!
or about the time that disney used threats of legal action to put a stop to such nefarious infringement of their copright as 'being painted on the walls of a daycare' or 'being put on a child's gravestone'.
the thing about copyright is that it has to be enforced in court. a 'small artist' -- even ones who are independently successful and considerably wealthy -- can simply not afford to fight a protracted legal battle while paying top legal talent. disney and marvel and any other big media company, however, can fight as many legal battles as they want for as long and have the legal fees be a drop in the bucket. companies that can afford lawyers and can afford to, if it really comes down to it, lose a lawsuit -- that is, companies with millions of dollars to spare -- are simply above copyright law. this is not a bug--this is a feature. this is the system working as designed.

pleaseee write smth about that fight between Felix and reader
a/n i've been thinking about this scene for days so when i saw this ask i got so hyped
warnings: reader being AFAB/female is plot relevant (reader's father has always wanted a son), implied emotional/financial parental abuse (not described in too much detail), potentially inaccurate portrayal of early-ish 2000's phones bc i was a toddler during their oxford era, hurt/comfort
we're getting into reader's background!!
itallic texts = from felix, bold texts = from reader
There's a scratch embedded into the dark mahogany. It's small, no wider than something you could make with your finger nail.
"How's your food?"
Your attention shifts towards the ceramic plate that's almost covering the dining table's only blemish. "It's good," you mumble with a slight nod, fork instinctually jabbing at a piece of food without you even looking at it. "Yours?"
"Great," he hums casually, cutting into his steak. "Part of the reason I picked this hotel is because of the restaurant. The visiting chef's a guy that I met in New York when he was looking into financing an international expansion of his franchise."
You bring your utensil to your lips. "That's cool, daddy."
The comment only strengthens the question that's been silently ebbing at your mind since your father first suggested lunch. Why did he order room service instead of taking you to the hotel's restaurant? Your dad has always loved the ambiance, the leisure of sitting in a nice restaurant.
"Is that why you're in town?" You reach for your glass, taking a sip of your drink before continuing. "To finalize something with the chef?"
He sets down his knife. "That and a few other business arrangements that needed to be checked on." He pauses, shoulders relaxing. "And to see you, too, Ace. It feels like it's been awhile since we talked."
Your lips quirk into what's almost a smile. When your father called to let you know that he'd be staying near Oxford for work and that he wanted you to visit, you had been apprehensive at first. Your mother was cautiously supportive of the idea.
Things with your father have been relatively stable recently. He liked the way no university seemed off limits to you with your grades and extracurriculars. He loved the idea of a daughter studying abroad at Oxford (which, is part of the reason you seriously considered Princeton for some time). And he's been drinking less. Part of that whole reborn, second marriage to a late-20-something methodist thing.
"Yeah, dad," you agree, as sincerely as you can manage, "It's been awhile."
"You know I'm friends with one of your deans." He doesn't give you a chance to reply. "We had coffee together, and he told me you're on track to finish in the top 10%." Rumors about the top percentages had been circling around Oxford for the past month. Still, it's relieving to know. "Congratulations, Ace."
This time, your smile meets your eyes. "Thanks."
He smiles, a flash of something practiced and charming. "When I get home, the first thing I'm doing is picking out a gift to send to you."
"If you need time, you can always wait and give it to me over the summer."
The infamous summer. Your mother is going to be spending most of the summer volunteering for an organization that brings counseling to children that have survived traumatic experiences but can't affording therapy. Your father suggested that you stay with him for a little while so that you wouldn't have to spend an entire two months in an empty house.
He stretches an arm like he wants to pick up his fork, but decides against it. "I--I want to tell you something." His tone is softer now, almost hesitant. "But you have to promise not to cry."
You try to swallow around the lump in your throat, body familiar with the command. "Okay?"
"I don't know if this summer's going to work out the way we talked about." He taps his fingers against the surface of the table. Your eyes lock on the scratch marring the wood. "Things have gotten complicated."
"Complicated?"
Your father sighs. "I'm sure you've noticed Christine's not here." You can't bring yourself to react at the mention of your step-mother's name. "She isn't in--she isn't in the best condition to travel." The tapping continues. "Christine's pregnant. She's due in early June, and she isn't having an easy time. I think it'd be best to not do anything that could potentially be stressful."
Oh.
"It's a boy."
Oh. A boy. With his perfect wife, in his perfect penthouse on the Upper East Side. Of course. Of fucking course.
You can't breathe right or thing of the way you're supposed to react. All you can do is stare at the scratch. At the only thing that indicates that anything bad has ever happened to the table.
"You promised you wouldn't cry." The words feel far. "You look too much like your mother when you cry."
That seems to force you back to earth. Any and all reminders of your mother must be eradicated in his presence. "I know. I'm not going to cry." You blink once, hand moving to wipe away tears you refuse to let spill. "Congratulations."
He's quiet for a moment, pressing his lips together, before finally settling on a perfunctory, "Thank you." After a beat of silence, he continues, "Were you planning on staying tonight? I was thinking of flying back early, but I can--"
"Oh, no," you shake your head once, "I actually have a lot of homework, so it's probably better for me to get back."
Your father nods, "Always the academic, Ace." He pushes his seat back. "If you're done eating, I can walk you to the lobby and have my driver take you back."
"Yeah," you push back your own seat and stand, "Sounds good."
The two of you reach the front doors of the suite. "Hey," your father starts, "Why don't you travel this summer? That's all I did during college breaks. I'll pay so you can do it up right. You should go somewhere with a friend. Paris, maybe. You two always had fun as kids."
You nod once, trying to keep your expression neutral. "Yeah, daddy, I'll ask Paris about what she's doing this summer."
"Good." He pauses at the door, reaching into the pocket of his slacks. He pulls out his wallet and counts out a few bills. "Here. A pre-gift." You hesitate. "C'mon, top 10%."
Your mother's voice rings in your ears. He won't change, you might as well take the money. You stretch out a hand, forcing a smile as you take the cash. "Thanks."
----
Stupid. You're so fucking stupid.
You really thought you'd be there all weekend. You really thought Christine would let you into her home for longer than a day or two.
And the pregnancy thing? That--that's going to get back to your mom in one way or another if you don't tell her. And hearing that, hearing that your dad's finally getting his son is going to kill her.
It's all you've been thinking about since you got back yesterday afternoon. After mumbling a halfhearted explanation to your roommate, you changed into some pajama shorts and a giant T-shirt that you only realized was Felix's after the fact and crawled into bed. You've moved as little as possible since.
Something near the foot of your bed buzzes, snapping you back to the present. You flip the phone open, immediately noticing three text notifications. From Felix.
hope ur weekend's going better than mine
lovie
i feel abandoned
Despite your angst, you smile to yourself before sending a response: it's been one day.
After a minute, there's another text on your screen: so it's a crime to miss u. You roll your eyes, fondness pooling in your stomach. how are u doing.
The second question, though sincere, forces you to spiral. You want to be honest. You don't lie to Felix and he doesn't lie to you.
But, everything comes with exceptions, and making sure no one finds out how tense things actually are with your dad is yours. Before you two got close, it felt too private, and once you finally did, a few comments from Felix's friends made you feel like the worst thing you could do for your friendship was let him see any kind of darkness.
It's not that he'd judge you, he'd just want to help you so badly that it'd take over everything else. Farleigh's made it clear that Felix loves a charity case. And you don't want to be that. You won't let your dad take that from you, either.
You want to say that you're fine, maybe text a comment about things being a little awkward because it's no secret that your mom took care of you after the divorce. But lying about being on campus feels like something that could easily morph into something else.
Felix, who actually has enough of a social life to pull sleazy moves like that never has. i'm sick. came home early.
ur back!
why didn't u tell me
i'm sick, can't hang out
are u ok
do u need anything
Guilt prods at you. You've been texting him on and off since yesterday and never mentioned that you came back early. Felix is always so good to you. But, you're in no place to see him. no just need rest
You shut your phone. You're not sure that saying you're sick is enough to keep Felix away all weekend, but it could be enough to keep him away tonight. It's Saturday night. He'll have plans.
And tomorrow, you'll feel better. More stable.
"I have some time before I'm supposed to go to Jake's. I stole some bread from the dining hall." Nadia's offer is gentle. "Do you want to go feed the ducks?"
You wipe at your face. "That's a really nice offer, Nadia, but I'm feeling a little sick. Maybe when you get back?"
She frowns. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah," you mumble, "I just need some sleep."
"You've been sleeping on and off since yesterday afternoon." Nadia hesitates, eyes darting towards the bathroom. She does need to start getting ready for her date. "Maybe you can call Felix later? It's Saturday night, you know there's some terribly exclusive, not meant for any of us ordinaries party he's dying to take you to."
The attempt at humor is enough to get you to roll onto your side. "Since when do you like Felix?"
To be fair, Nadia's never disliked Felix. Before you became friends with him, she had a bit of a crush on him in that way that all freshmen girls at Oxford do. After you started hanging out with him all the time, that crush turned into an awareness that fueled her worry. She's always implied her concern that he'd eventually hurt you.
"I've never not liked him," she mumbles, "I was just scared he'd break your heart, but, the last couple of times he's come over...something about the way he looks at you."
"So you finally accepted we're just friends?"
She walks towards the bathroom, "Didn't say that."
You roll your eyes, letting yourself rest on your back. You shut your eyes, trying to force out any thoughts of the outside world as you drift off.
The familiar creek of the hinges of your room's door pulls you back to reality slowly.
"Took you long enough." Nadia's voice. "All she does is sleep and mope. She didn't even want to go feed the ducks today."
"She loves feeding the ducks." Another familiar, much more moving voice. You manage to move, wiping at your eyes as you sit up.
"I know!"
You finally sit up, blinking your eyes as your vision adjusts. Felix. He's standing in near the foot of your bed. "Felix--I-I told you I'm fine. Just a little sick."
"Nadia called and told me the opposite."
You turn your head to glare at you roommate, who doesn't even have the decency to look ashamed. "You stole my phone and called him?"
"I had to," she defends. "All you do is sleep and cry, and you've been like this since you came back yesterday."
Felix's expression drops as soon as the final word comes out. Your eyes widen, head shaking as subtly as possible as if a too late warning will erase the sentence from existence.
"Wait," his voice is softer than you've ever heard it, "You've been back since yesterday and you didn't tell me?"
You swallow, unable to look away from Felix.
"I--I have to go." Nadia's announcement breaks through the stiff silence. "I'll be back sometime tomorrow, so um..." She turns away, swinging an overnight bag over her shoulder before disappearing out the door. You can't blame her for running out as soon as possible.
"Felix," your voice is low, gravely, "Darling."
"Don't." His eyebrows pinch together, sadness tinging his expression. It doesn't fit him. "Why--why wouldn't you tell me you were here?"
You sit up a little straighter, wiping at your eyes with the back of your palm. "I told you I'm sick. I'm not up for anything right now."
Felix is still watching you with that kicked puppy look. "That doesn't--" He cuts himself off with a sigh. "You know I don't care if you don't want to do anything. We can--we can just sit or-or talk, or read or--do nothing." Felix presses his lips together, "I thought you knew that."
You know he's right, and that makes it harder to look at him. Felix would have been a sweetheart about it. He would have let you mope, cry even, and he would've spent the entire time holding you. It should have been easy to tell Felix, instinctual...and yet...
Your eyes briefly shut. "I do." The admission's painful to get out. Some of your hesitation was over the way Felix reacts to tragedy, but the rest is something more personal. Telling Felix would have solidified it. Would have made that label of 'abandoned child' that you've always been so wary about permanent. "It's more than that."
"Then what is it?"
Sighing, you push yourself to the edge of your bed. "My head hurts, I need a Tylenol."
Your words and movements are drowsy as you push yourself to stand. Felix takes a partial step forward before forcing himself to freeze into place. It's hard not to help you.
"Then what is it?"
You push open the bathroom door. "I don't--I don't know." It's a weak attempt at dismissing the conversation before things go to a place that you can't handle right now. "I couldn't get the words out." Still can't.
You find the pill bottle you were looking for on the bathroom counter and start working at twisting off the childproof cap. "We tell each other everything eventually." His voice is dry, almost hesitant. "At least, I do. We trust each other."
Your eyes shut as you sigh, fingers briefly releasing the top of the bottle. "Maybe that's not trust. Maybe that's your life being so perfect there's nothing you need to keep secret."
The words come out in a rush, angry and sharp. Regret floods through you instantly. "I'm sorry."
"No." The syllable is hard. "No. You're not. Don't do that. Don't--don't start saying what you think I need to hear--or keeping in what you think I don't." There's a concerned anger there, an unfitting combination that you don't have the energy to decode. "What could be so bad you can't tell me? We know about Ollie's parents and that didn't change anything, did it?"
Actually, things did change a little. Oliver's broken home life seemed to only make Felix want to pull Oliver into his world even more. You hate thinking it, because it's insensitive and a little mean, but of course Oliver was willing to give Felix all the gritty details.
After the initial implications came out, Felix devoured them with the same silver spoon that was placed in his mouth at birth. In a way, Felix's desire to fix and ease pain brought them closer together. And it probably means more to Oliver coming from Felix than anyone else.
But your relationship with Felix is different. You don't want sadness and coddling to be what makes you feel certain in your bond with Felix. You want things to stay the same. You don't want to give your dad anyway to change one of the most important connections in your life.
"You have a big heart, Felix, and I love that about you." Your hand reaches for the Tylenol again. "But I don't want you helping me to become all that I am to you. I don't want to be a charity case." You squeeze your eyes shut, cringing at your wording. "And--and I'm not trying to say that Ollie's just a charity case, it's that--some stuff Farleigh's said and--" Tears are pricking the edge of your vision.
"You're more than that," he scoffs the words out like it's ridiculous he even has to say that, "Of course you're more than that, I thought you knew." He scoffs. "I--I don't just wait around for people."
You scoff, the sound almost a bitter laugh. "Oh--so now it's not about trust, it's about your ego. That I don't just sit around next to my phone, waiting for the Felix Catton to call me."
Felix takes a step forward, "It's not about that!" You raise your eyebrows, uncertainty leaving you frozen. Felix has never yelled at you before. "...It's not about that," he repeats, voice a more acceptable volume. He takes another step forward, his fingers finding your forearm. "You know how I meant it."
There's a tension in the way he's touching your arm. It's nothing harsh, if anything it's almost too soft. Hesitant. He's watching you with an intensity that pins you into place more than his actual hold.
You wouldn't be surprised by his anger, you're not even sure you'd be able to blame him for it, but that's not what you see when you look at him. You can't exactly read the look behind his eyes, but something about it reminds you of Nadia's earlier comment.
It's heavy. Too heavy for you to think about tonight. That's how Felix is. He's intense. All consuming. When all you do is blink at him, he lets go of your arm.
"Felix."
His eyes dart towards the ground, body angling itself away from you.
It's subtle, and not a direct dismissal, but after everything that's already happened, it's enough to serve as a final nail hammered into your chest. "I don't want things to change between us." You sigh, finally getting the pill bottle's lid to pop off. "Because I'm fine."
You force a smile, but there's a tightness to your features that makes it feel like a grimace. "It's not a big deal. So my dad asked me not to come home this summer, because his wife's pregnant and he doesn't want to 'stress her out'. I'm fine." You can feel the tears welling in your eyes. "Y'know it's a b-oy." Your voice cracks on the last word, a laugh or maybe a sob interrupting the single syllable. "So um...good for him, he's finally getting his son."
Felix is watching you cautiously, expression not quite sympathetic, but not relaxed either. "Oh my god, I have to tell my mom. And it--it's going to kill her." You gasp the words like the realization's just hit you, even though it's been on your mind since the beginning. "I don't know why I said that like I'm surprised--because I--" You laugh, the sound shrill and uneasy, "But it's whatever. I'm fine."
You nod once, as if that'll be enough to make you feel fine. Another sound comes out, this one a lot closer to a whimper. "I'm fine. I don't know why I'm being so dramatic. I'm fine. I'm--" You squeeze your arms around your waist, supporting yourself the way Felix usually would.
You're crying openly now, tears blinding you. This is pathetic. You need to get it together.
You're pulled forward with no warning, your body hitting something solid and warm. Felix.
His arms around you, firm and supportive. It's surprising enough to force a full breath of air into your lungs. For a moment, all there is Felix. You inhale again, and again, doing your best to hold the air in your lungs.
Felix's hand smooths circles against your back. He whispers soothing words that you can barely make out. Between that and the even rhythm of his heart, you manage to ground yourself.
"You don't have to be nice to me right now," you mumble into his shirt. "I was really mean to you."
He continues to trace patterns against your spine. "We don't have to talk about that right now."
"I know," you whisper, "I just--I don't want you to feel like you can't be mad at me."
He gently smooths your hair away from your face. "Can I be mad from right here?"
"Yeah." You sniffle once, letting your chin press into his chest so that you can look up at him. "If you want to."
"Then okay," he mumbles, knuckles running up and down the length of your spine, "I'll be mad from right here."

A Lady Made of Snow
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: I don’t own The Hunger Games franchise, the images above, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, or any of the characters in this fic other than Bellova. I also do not condone the beliefs or actions of Coriolanus or Bellova.
SUMMARY: Coriolanus and Bellova argue yet again. But this time, there are consequences that change both of their lives forever.
⚠️Warnings⚠️: THIS IS A VERY DARK CHAPTER. It contains manipulation/gaslighting/brainwashing, cursing, violence, and misogynistic undertones
A/n: This chapter is from Coriolanus’s POV (still in third-person). The next chapter will recount these same events but from Bellova’s POV. Also, the part in all italics is a flashback.
Coriolanus had never felt better.
He had secured his position as an apprentice Gamemaker, was flourishing at the University, had become the heir to the Plinth fortune, and no longer worried about going hungry or losing his home.
He felt as if he was on top of the world. And he intended to stay that way, no matter what it took.
Coriolanus sat in his office in the Citadel, adding the finishing touches on a report Dr. Gaul had assigned for his military strategies class. He was no longer afraid of her, and had come to admire her macabre ways. Violence and death was simply a part of life, after all. There was no use in being scared of it.
He glanced at the new monocle lying on a stack of books that “Ma” Plinth had gifted him that morning. It reminded him of Dean Highbottom. Normally, thinking of the old fool would irritate him, but now it made him smile.
Rat poison truly did come in handy.
Putting down his pen, he looked at his watch. Twelve o’clock. He figured now was a good time to pause his work to eat lunch. Now that he could afford to purchase anything he wanted whenever he wanted, buying food was never an issue.
He checked his reflection quickly in the silver mirror on his desk, and grabbed his leather satchel which contained a matching wallet. Just as he was about to stand up, someone knocked on the door.
Now annoyed, he sunk back in his chair. “Come in. And don’t waste my time.”
In walked none other than Bellova Reginelle, donning a suspiciously wide smile. He immediately took in the blood-red dress she wore. It was a beautiful velvet garment that fell down to her ankles but had a daring slit in the side. The bodice made her figure look flawless, and the off-the-shoulder sleeves complimented her slender neck and shoulders. She wore matching gloves that went past her elbows, as well as a pair of tall black stilettos.
In short, she looked like a threat. One that needed to be eliminated before it could cause trouble.
Coriolanus simply gave her an indifferent look. “What brings you here?”
His old rival let out a short laugh. “Hello to you too.”
He rolled his eyes. “I said not to waste my time. Get to the point before I kick you out.”
“Fine, fine,” Bellova said. She stood before his desk, looking down at him with a slightly smug expression that made Coriolanus grit his teeth in annoyance. “I have…a proposal for you.”
He smirked. “That’s odd, considering that you’ve spent the last few months avoiding me.”
She purses her lips, clearly trying not to roll her eyes. “I decided that wasn’t the best course of action. We’re not children anymore, Snow, being petty won’t get us anywhere. Instead of working against each other, maybe combining our power and influence would be more beneficial. For both of us.”
Coriolanus frowned. “So what exactly are you proposing?”
Bellova inhaled sharply. “We should get married.”
He blinked. “Pardon?“
“It would be a politically intelligent move. With my connections in the Department of Justice and yours with Dr. Gaul and the Gamemakers, we could be unstoppable. Nobody would dare to cross us ever again. All we’d have to do is play pretend for the press, and we would have a chokehold on the entire Capitol.”
A beat of silence passed.
Then, Coriolanus laughed. It was a cold, condescending laugh, which grew louder at the sight of Bellova’s furious expression.
“You seriously thought I would consider marrying you? You truly are delusional.”
Bellova’s face hardened, contorting with rage. “Fine then,” she said slowly. “How about this: either agree to my proposal, or I won’t hesitate to ruin your life again.”
Coriolanus scoffed. “And how exactly would you do that?”
Bellova smiled cruelly. “I would tell every press outlet in the Capitol every awful thing I know about you. I would tell them that your asshole of a father stole the idea of the Hunger Games from Casca Highbottom just to impress Dr. Gaul. I would tell them how you murdered that tribute in cold blood the arena last year. I’d tell them that you sent Sejanus Plinth to his grave and used his parent’s grief to replace him as the heir to the Plinth fortune. And I would tell them how you murdered Dean Highbottom just last week. Did I miss anything?”
Coriolanus just looked at her, stunned.
“Oh yes, how could I forget: I’d tell them that you fell in love with a district girl and cheated in the Games just to keep her alive-“
“I did not love Lucy Gray,” Coriolanus snarled.
Bellova sneered back. “You’re the worst liar I know, you should really learn the art of deception if you want to be a politician. What happened to your little songbird anyway? Did you kill her to keep her from spilling your secrets?”
Coriolanus felt his heart pound loudly in his chest. How she had discovered all of these things, he didn’t know.
What he did know was that he had to ensure she never told a soul.
His hand reached down to open one of his drawers. He had a feeling he may need what was inside.
Then he stood up, towering over her. “Nobody would believe any of that, especially coming from you.”
Bellova blinked. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means that you’re a conniving, overprivileged, pathetic little c-“
His insult was cut off by a sharp blow to the face.
“How dare you speak to me that way?” Bellova screamed, her eyes glinting with pure hatred.
“I’ll speak to you however I fucking please,” Coriolanus sneered, walking around his desk to stand within a few feet of her.
Bellova was too enraged to see what he slipped into his pocket.
“I’m going to murder you, Snow,” she seethed.
“That’s ironic, considering you came here with the intention of marrying me.”
Apparently, that was enough to completely shatter her composure.
Bellova started towards him, her perfectly manicured hands reaching out to wrap around his neck. As soon as she began to move, however, Coriolanus reached into his coat pocket, his palm wrapping around cold metal.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Coriolanus sat on a stool, waiting for Dr. Gaul to return. She had summoned him to her lab show him something she called “a leash in a bottle”. He didn’t have the slightest clue what that meant, but he supposed he was about to find out.
The doctor reappeared, holding a metal box protected by a combination lock. Setting it down on the table in front of Coriolanus, she quickly entered the code and removed the lid.
Dr. Gaul reached her gloved hand into the box and retrieved a single syringe. It was slightly bigger than a normal one, and it was filled with a clear concoction.
“I’m very proud of this,” the doctor began, her eyes full of glee. “I have spent years trying to perfect it.”
Coriolanus nodded in acknowledgment. “What exactly does it do?“ he asked.
Dr. Gaul grinned wickedly. “When injected into the neck of a human body, it quickly begins to alter the brain. It will decimate any hostile tendencies, replacing them with a docile and pliant nature. The injected person will also experience severe memory loss, but the doses can be altered to only erase certain things, such as this one here. After it has taken full effect, the injected can be molded into whatever the injector desires.”
Coriolanus stared at the syringe in awe. “That’s…incredible.”
The doctor beamed at him. “Thank you, my dear.” She put the syringe back in it’s box, and held it out to Coriolanus. “This one is for you. To use in your time of need.”
Coriolanus took the box carefully. “Dr. Gaul,” he said. “With all due respect, why give this to me and not someone else?”
She chuckled lowly. “I have a feeling you’ll find the answer to that very soon.”
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
When Bellova’s hands were an inch away from his neck, Coriolanus shoved her, sending her stumbling backwards into the wall. Before she could lift her arms again, Coriolanus whipped the syringe out of his pocket.
He used one hand to pin her to the wall, and grinned as her eyes widened in fear.
“Snow, what the fuck are you doing-“
She cut herself off with a piercing scream as the needle of the syringe was plunged into her neck.
Coriolanus swiftly injected the serum, keeping his hold on Bellova tight to ensure she did not escape. When the dose was fully gone, he pulled out the needle and tossed the syringe to the side. He stepped back and let Bellova collapse to the floor, writing in agony.
Her entire body was shaking, as if she was having a seizure. Somehow, she managed to climb onto all fours, letting out choked moans of pain.
“Wh-What,” she gasped. “What are you doing to me?”
Coriolanus crouched down in front of her, grabbing her by the chin firmly. “Finally shutting you up after all these years.”
“No!” Bellova squeezed her eyes shut, and tears began to roll down her face. Her arms soon gave out, leaving her to curl up in a ball on the cold tile floor again.
Coriolanus stood up, waiting for Bellova to stop convulsing. It took at least another couple minutes for her to go still.
He leaned down again to inspect her. Her body seemed completely limp, her eyes were shut, and her breathing was steady once more.
Then, her eyes shot open. Coriolanus watched intently. She looked dazed, and her grey eyes, which usually had a piercing nature to them, were wider and almost…innocent-looking.
Bellova slowly sat up, shifting so that she sat back on her heels, her knees pressed against the tile. She looked up at him, her eyes full of nothing but naivety.
“Hi Coryo,” she said, her tone so soft and sweet that Coriolanus had to refrain from gaping at her in shock. “I…I must have hit my head or something…why am I on the floor? What happened?“
Coriolanus’s mind raced to think of a proper lie. “You passed out due to dehydration and hit your head. You must be more careful.”
Bellova smiled brightly. “I will Coryo, I promise. I’m confused, though…who am I to you again? I can’t seem to recall.”
A deceivingly warm smile spread across his lips. “I’m your fiancé. We’re set to be married in the next couple years.”
“We are?” Bellova said, a look of awe on her face.
Coriolanus laughed quietly. She looked so helpless, so gullible. “Yes, we are. You’re my future bride, how could you forget that?”
Bellova took his hand when he offered it to help her stand. She giggled, stumbling forward slightly and leaning her head against his chest. “I’m a lucky girl, aren’t I? I’m going to have the most handsome husband in the Capitol.”
Coriolanus stiffly embraced her, and felt her sigh happily against him. This seemed like a hallucination, like something that simply didn’t fit within the reality that he knew.
All his life, he had harbored mixed feelings about Bellova. Sometimes he really enjoyed her company, other times he despised her more than anyone else. But after he realized that she’d been a driving factor in why he was convicted of cheating in the Games, he felt nothing but hate and contempt towards her. She was simply another Capitol brat. But she was an intelligent Capitol brat, one who possessed a mountain of damning information about him.
Simply changing her personality into something more…agreeable instead of killing her was an act of mercy.
Coriolanus allowed himself to smile. He quite liked this new version of her. She was like a toy, a mindless but pretty figurine that would bend to his every whim.
She was no longer his rival or a threat to his career.
She was a puppet, and he held all of her strings.

Wait, Zhao Yunlan's gun is actually a...?!
(I've never claimed production meta for @guardianbingo before, but after the amount of time and research I put in on this, I feel like I've earned the "Zhao Yunlan's Gun or Whip" square, haha)
SO. GUYS.
Maybe this is something fandom as a whole figured out back in 2018, but I, who didn't hear of Guardian until 2020, did not realize until now and I need to share the knowledge because when I finally noticed, I made an unholy sound.
I've tracked down where Zhao Yunlan's gun came from -- or at least, what it most likely started as. Not the in-universe dark-energy-maybe-uses-bullets-maybe-doesn't-device-that's-best-not-thought-about-too-long, but rather the actual fake-steampunk-revolver-that-is-best-not-looked-at-too-long-because-it's-awful prop.
Y'know, this disaster:
Tumblr media
I was actually working on a different Guardian Bingo fill and needed to look something up for continuity, so I'd flipped through a couple of episodes at super high speed trying to find a scene. As luck would have it, one of my skips forward happened to land on the scene I screencapped above, when ZYL confronts Zhang Shi.
Normally we don't get this clear (or this stationary) a shot of the godawful gun prop. I'd assumed all along they had just taken a plastic gun, glued some extra bits and bobs on it to make it look fancy, and hit it with some dry brushing (fun fact: you can watch the paint flake throughout the series; check out the top of the barrel and the side of the cylinder in the above screenshot!) to make it look #steampunk like the abandoned aesthetic of 25% of the show (as I've said before, I have theories about what happened in preproduction, but that's another post). This sort of thing is exactly what I've done for cheap cosplay weapons or background props for film work that aren't going to be seen at HD detail range.
Anyway, since the detail showed up better here than in other shots, I paused the video to look at the random screws and hex bolts (why??) they'd glued on it, since I recalled that I had the aforementioned gun/whip bingo square to fill.
That's when I noticed a detail that had eluded me before: An inverted V shape at the bottom of the grip.
Tumblr media
Only looking more closely, that's not an inverted V. It's a symbol that I've seen a whole series of variations of over the past 15+ years... every time there's a new installment of the Assassin's Creed video game series:
Tumblr media
So I started hunting. The principal weapons in each game turned up no matches, but eventually I found a gun that looks almost exactly like ZYL's:
Tumblr media
It's not a perfect replica, but the details are certainly all there: The stylized logo; the leaves and swirls on the grip; the feathers up the back; even the Victorian scrollwork beneath the barrel.
Tumblr media
Now, what's really interesting is that this gun isn't actually from the AC game series. It's part of an elaborate fan project by artist David Paget that started as a class assignment back in 2014. Even though it gathered a bit of steam in the AC fandom and generated a couple of forum role-play groups, OCs and the like, nothing about this artwork was ever connected to a real Assassin's Creed title. So why would there be a physical version of a gun that was only someone's fanart?
This is where the smoking gun (*rimshot*) goes missing, because I can't prove any of this, and it's been long enough that digging through the archives of the internet to find answers is going to take way more time than I can afford to spend on a project I'm not getting paid for. But there are two likely possibilities:
Scenario A: Some employee in a toy factory somewhere in China got told, "This Assassin's Creed franchise is really big, so we need to be producing replicas from those games to sell. Work up some designs." So the employee Googles "assassin's creed gun," finds David Paget's very professional-looking art, and whips up a replica to mass-injection-mold without realizing it's not actually from a game. Later, someone on the cash-strapped Guardian production team needs a gun to mod, and finds a cheap toy revolver on clearance after several years of sitting in storage because there was little demand for a replica of a gun that was never in a game. They buy several, glue hex bolts on the cylinder for reasons unknown, and poof! Instant pseudo-steampunk!
Scenario B: Other fans were involved in the design. Someone did build a 3D model of David Paget's design that's still available on Sketchfab (screenshot below), and it's not unreasonable to assume that other fans could have thought it looked cool and built 3D printable models. Later, someone on the cash-strapped Guardian production team needs a gun to mod, and acquires the 3D print file of one of those models from the interwebs. They mod the file a bit, print some, glue hex bolts on the cylinder for reasons unknown, and poof! Instant pseudo-steampunk!
Tumblr media
Personally, I find Scenario A far more likely than Scenario B, for two reasons: First, the hero prop looks more injection molded than 3D printed, especially given the technical state of 3D printing back in 2017-8. And second... Budget-challenged dramas do have a history of picking up bulk video game replicas and using them as cheap props. I made a post back in 2019 about the WoW Horde shields we spotted in a different drama...
Anyway, no firm answers about the source of the hero prop -- the world may never know! -- but we have now confirmed that in some alternate universe (possibly one of the first eighty?), Zhao Yunlan and/or Zhao Xinci is an Assassin.
Wait, wait, wait... *recalls mechanics of how the whole Assassin's Creed frame story is supposed to work* Uh... so... who wants to write a genetic memory explanation for the whole Kunlun -> [lots of lifetimes] -> Zhao Yunlan thing?
.
(I did actually check the catalogue of a friend of mine who makes replicas of props from various media franchises to see if he'd done a commission of the David Paget design, since a surprising number of his custom pieces actually do end up on film and television, but while he has a gorgeous replica of a revolver that actually appears in an AC game, it appears he has not done the Zhao Yunlan gun. I didn't really think it likely, since he's in the U.S., but you never know.)

It’s not, but what exactly is her brand now? I think that’s the main problem.
Plant, I respectfully disagree that she has neither a brand nor authenticity. She has both. The problem is that they are both negative. They don't sell.
Her brand is family problems, drama, reclusiveness, over the top spending. She's not seen enough to be aspirational--no one sees her on a great vacation playing at the beach or doing some kind of DIY decor at the Montecito mansion or baking cookies and sharing the recipe, or trying some new face mask. No one wants her advice on family because we never see her kids, and everyone knows neither she nor her husband get along with their families. No one wants what she merches because we can't afford it.
I am a middle class American and I have a Reiss blouse, an Issa dress, Superga shoes, three other tops that are what Kate wore, and knock off Kikis that I found on Etsy. Kate has enough of a mix of style that you can get a pretty dress and some sneakers then admire all the McQueen from afar. Meghan's got Birkin bags and Dior caftans. It doesn't translate.
She HAS a brand, and the problem for her is that in the age of internet receipts, well, her brand IS authentic. She is who she is. We all know it. And none of us want to be it.
Lol, I was referring to a “marketable” brand.
But you’re right. People now associate her with constant drama and conflict, which is not attractive nor aspirational. It’s not even fun drama, like in the Housewives franchise. It’s just loud and uncomfortable.

Maybe you were asked this again but why don’t you want a new game to appear?
// Look, I get that a lot of people want a new game but I genuinely wish Rejet would stop milking DL’s story.
All franchises must come to an end, and I believe 7 games are more than enough. LE was widely disliked, and CL barely got any reactions, so I doubt a new game will make a difference. The more games they release, the less appealing they become. I'd rather not have an eighth one than see some characters getting ruined or the routes becoming bland and repetitive. On top of that, a new game would only make room for even more inconsistencies because the writers won’t remember what they wrote years ago. Even if a preview came out, a lot of fans would think of a bunch of interesting predictions, yet they would be let down by the final product. I have nothing against Rejet as a company, but let's be honest: we all know they don't take the games as seriously as they once did, given the clear lack of creativity and quality.
Most of the time I like the merch lines, but my issue lays in the fact that they impulsively release them. Last year, I remember three sets being released in the same month that even Japanese fans were complaining about how they couldn’t afford spending so much money in such a short period of time. Another problem is how they keep delaying a lot of goods. I can understand it happening occasionally, but when it becomes a regular occurrence... that's definitely not good.

Tumblr media
FIVE YEARS.
It has been five whole years since your father died. You still clearly remembered receiving a call from one of his closest friends that your father passed away during work, finally succumbing to his injuries. It took you a long time before finally deciding to visit his grave, and there you were standing infront of the tombstone, with an epitaph. He was there, buried right next to your mother.
Loving Husband and Father.
You felt bitter. You let the anger and rage build up inside of you. You don’t know how to let out all of the emotions that you had bottling up. At this point, you are a ticking time bomb, little things can set you off. With the death of your parents and no other relatives, not that you know of, that you can turn to—basically making you an orphan, you never know how you’ll cope up in the harsh realities of this world. So you had resorted to the one thing that your father had promised you not to get involved with, and that is involving yourself in the criminal underworld. Thinking that why not continue your father’s legacy, what could be so wrong about it? It’s not like he’s still alive to berate you for it. You needed an outlet, and this is the closest thing that you can think of.
From there, just like your father, you climbed your way to the top, making you one hell of a legendary figure that was once your father, established yourself in the criminal underworld at a young age. You are a literal carbon copy of your father, how you maneuver and mimic all of his moves. However, no one knew you connections with your father, Jonathan Wick. Your father did all of his best for you to be kept hidden, though a few people know of your existence, yes. But only those people who your father trusted the most.
You don’t go by the name (Y/N) Wick, but (Y/N) Jovanovich—your father’s legal last name. The moment everyone finds out that you’re Jonathan Wick’s daughter, you are done for. Everyone will be coming for your head, using you against your father, and knowing him, you are his weakness. He can’t afford to lose you, just like how he lost your mother. He had decided to teach you basic self defense skills as well, and little by little, you are slowly becoming exposed to his true nature of work and in no time, teaching you everything as well—leading you now to the life you are currently living in.
You had decided to take a break from accepting contracts. After accepting contracts after contracts, you had felt a little burnt out and need to catch your breath, take a breather. You shouldn’t be doing this kind of job, a kid killing other people for a living, being tied to the to the criminal underworld. You should be attending high school right now and learning stuff, you have all the resources—monetary resources, because your father didn’t leave you empty handed when he died. He had solidifed everything to your name, knowing his line of work, he was bound to be gone soon, so he had wasted no time in fixing everything.
That is until one day, you had appeared under SHIELD’s radar. You couldn’t hide everything from them, so they knew everything about you. How you are a daughter of a legendary and elite assassin of the criminal underworld, and surprisingly connected to the one and only Anthony Edward Stark. Turns out you’re not alone in this world after all. Your mother, Helen, was Tony’s closest cousin—until Helen and him had lost contact. Tony was so persistent for you to live with him back at the Avengers compound, but you had refused. You had decided to live on your own, in your family’s house where you had grown up and had focused on rebuilding to keep the memories alive after Santino D’Antonio had blown it up to pieces. But you promised that you’ll visit and hangout with everyone at the compound from time to time.
You had never really showed any interest in joining the avengers, despite how qualified you are. It’s kind of a hypocritical idea for you, you kill people for a living while your uncle’s team saves the world. So that does not really sit well with you, also the publicity that the avengers are getting, it’s bad for you. You prefer a quiet life, a life in the shadows, and that’s a big part of your job. But hey, on the bright side, if they need help, you are always open in helping them in silence and secrecy.
Overall, the avengers were all really nice people when Tony had introduced you to them. They had welcomed you with an open arms, and they were excited to meet someone like you. They still can’t believe that at a young age, you are an elite assassin, a literal force to be reckoned with. Of course they understand your stand on joining them, so they didn’t push it any further, in which you are very grateful about.
“Hey, any family of Tony’s is already a family of ours. Welcome to the family!” Says the star-spangled man when he had met you.
Tumblr media
It was a very tiring day, you had just gone back home from hanging out and helping the avengers out in stuff that they needed to do back at the compound. Unlocking your front door, you had been greeted by a dog. It was your dad’s dog, a pit-bull. Your father had never bothered on naming him, but you had taken it upon yourself in naming him ‘Koda’, from your favorite movie when growing up, Brother Bear. Koda had a bit of a time to adjust to his new name, but he came around.
“Hey, Koda! How are you boy? Sorry I had to leave you all alone…again. You know uncle Tony’s policy, no animals in the compound,” You bent down and pat his head, “But sooner or later I’ll have to raise that policy to him, maybe make an exception for you. I don’t want to leave you in this big house all alone whenever I’m out for work.” You sighed.
Koda had been kind of your emotional support dog in some way when your parents passed away, and he makes you really happy, gives you so much joy. You made your way to the kitchen to refill his dog bowl and let him run off in the backyard after finishing his meal to do his thing, while you went upstairs and change into one of your oversized shirt and pajamas.
It was a quiet night. A bit of eerie quiet, but that is how it is every night and you live alone, the neighborhood was peaceful and quiet in general, so kudos to your parents for picking out a good environment to live in. But somehow, there’s this feeling of discomfort in your chest, your chest felt heavy and you don’t know why. You decided to ignore the feeling and went back out to check on Koda. You had opened the sliding door that leads to the backyard for Koda to come in, closed and locked it afterwards. Since you are not sleepy yet, you had decided to have a movie night, preparing some popcorn in the kitchen and grabbing a can of soda.
Turning all of the lights off, the only source of light in the house is the television. You had relaxed yourself on the couch, and Koda had positioned himself beside you. Half way into the movie, you heard a few rustling of bushes outside and paid no attention to it, but you are on high alert. Until it all happened in a blink of an eye. Your body had been thrown off across the room so hard, you had a hard time focusing your vision, you saw that everything around you is slowly being destroyed due to the huge fire consuming it. Koda had rushed to your aid, whining. You had let out a chuckle, knowing that the same thing had happened to your dad. The only difference is that there is no marker binding you.
“Really?! Fucking hell, I just rebuilt this house and some moron decided to mess with the wrong person.” You’re seething with anger, trying to stand up and hissing from the pain.
You slowly and carefully make your way out of the burning house, with Koda guiding you, and stood still in the backyard, slowly watching how the house be destroyed by the fire all over again, with Koda right beside you. You just stayed there, waiting until the help arrived.
“You good, kiddo? What happened?” The police woman, Eliza, asked.
“Gas leak.” Your gaze had remained on the pavement, not bothering looking at her.
“Uh huh.”
“I forgot to check everything before I went to bed.”
“Alright. You got any relatives near the area that you can stay with for the meantime?”
“Yeah.” You stood up, “Have a good evening, officer Eliza.” You began walking away with Koda by your side. Eliza sighed and just stood there, watching you walk away.
Tumblr media
It’s was a long walk to the continental, but you have no choice. You had sustained a few minor injury and minor forehead wounds with blood still visible and fresh your shirt. By the time you had reached the continental, the sun was starting to rise.
“Is the manager in?” You asked the concierge.
“Ms. Jovanovich, welcome. Yes, the manager is always in.”
“I would like to talk to the manager. Thank you.”
“Would you like me to announce your presence?”
“Yes please.” You nodded and commanded Koda to stay with the concierge, and made your way to the lounge.
You had arrived in the lounge and saw Winston, the manager of New York’s continental. He motioned you to sit down on the seat infront of him.
“(Y/N), what brings you here? I thought you’re on break.” He chuckled lightly at you, he can see the resemblance of you and your father.
“Yeah, until some moron decided to blow up my house.” You seethed in anger, “Do you know something about this?”
“Not that I know of.” He leaned back on his seat, “Though I heard that some people had finally catch on to you, and discovered your true identity. But you didn’t hear it from me.” You held his gaze, never faltering. He wrote something on the paper, tore it and slowly slide it towards you and took it.
Tarasov.
“You are free to do anything. Since you are not bound by any marker or have accepted a contract, if you want to track the people behind it, be my guest. The continental’s door is always open to you, but always remember, no activities of any kind here in the continental.” You stood up, thanked and bid him goodbye.
You left the continental and began walking to the avengers compound, to seek refuge for the meantime. But you can’t stay there for long, it’s a matter of time before Tarasov catch a whiff of you again, you don’t want the avengers to be involved in this possible personal dispute. They might be the world’s mightiest hero and can defend themselves against Tarasov’s man, but this is your mess to fix. No matter what, you can’t let the avengers be involved.
One of the most important thing that you need to do is you need to get your shit together, you’re angry, of course. But you don’t want to act impulsively without carefully planning everything. The Tarasov mob are once your father’s associates, that is until he had decided to retire so that he can spend the rest of his life with your mother. Viggo Tarasov, the head of the Tarasov mob, gave your father an impossible task to earn his freedom. Life went well with your dad, despite the death of your mother, until his knucklehead of a son, Iosef Tarasov, had decided to mess with your father. But eventually, that said knucklehead had gotten what he deserved, along with his father, Viggo.
Now, the Tarasov mob is being led by Abram Tarasov, Viggo’s brother. He had took on the reigns and steered it back to its original course. Clenching your fist at the sudden realization, you had realized that your father had a close encounter with Abram when he retrieved his car from him, instead of killing him, he had decided to spare his life. Knowing that if Abram messes with your father again, he won’t hesitate to fire a bullet into his head. Now that your father is gone, he’s coming after you. A revenge for what your father did to his brother, Viggo and his nephew, Iosef. He had already learnt of your father’s death and it’s only a matter of time as well before he puts up an open contract, targeting you.
“Abram, that fucking son of a bitch.”
By the time you had arrived at the avengers compound, the sun was already at its peak. The security of the compound had immediately recognized you and let you in. Everyone was already awake and doing their tasks for the day, they haven’t been called for a mission so some of them are present. You had started limping toward the common area and FRIDAY announcing your presence.
“Ms. Jovanovich has arrived.”
Natasha looked up with a smile when friday had announced your arrival, but the smile from her face instantly faltered as soon as she saw your condition.
“Kid, the hell happened to you?!” Sam and Rhodey rushed to help you and sat you gently down on the couch.
You leaned back and rest yourself on the couch, closing your eyes for a bit. Steve, Bucky, Vision, and Clint staring at you as well with full concern visible on their faces. Wanda rushed to the kitchen to get you some frozen peas to numb the pain the you felt on your shoulders, handing it to you quickly and thanking her.
“Fri, please tell Tony and Bruce that (Y/N) is here and is in need of medical attention, ASAP.” Steve commanded Friday.
“Yes Sir.”
“Bruce and Tony are currently in the lab right now, but don’t worry, (Y/N) they’re coming soon.” Steve softly assured you.
“Do you want to tell us what happened, doll?” Bucky asked you softly.
“Some moron decided to have a playtime with a grenade launcher and blow up my house in the middle of the night.” Anger radiating off of you, and had straightened yourself on the couch.
You also sensed the anger from the team when you mentioned the reason why you’re in a bad condition right now. Tony and Bruce came rushing in on the common area, heading straight towards you.
“(Y/N)! Are you okay?! What the fuck happened to you?!” Tony asked in full panic and anger.
“Some people had blown up her house in the middle of the night.” Wanda said.
“You need to be brought to the med bay, (Y/N). We need to check on your injuries.” Bruce calmly said and nodded at him.
“Tell me the name and I’ll destroy that fucker.” Tony seethed.
“No.” You firmly said, “No one will do anything. I will handle this myself, this is mine alone to fix.”
“Kid are you crazy?” Sam said, “In your condition, you won’t be able to that last long.” You grinned at Sam.
“Thanks for the concern, Sam. But you haven’t seen me fight, have you? I have fought everyone even in my worst condition but I still made it out in one piece. I’ve been doing this since I was a kid.”
“Hate to break it to you guys, but the kid’s right. She’s a natural,” Natasha backed you up, “But I agree with Wilson, you are in no state to fight. At least until you have fully recovered.”
“This is just some minor injuries and gashes, it’s no big deal.”
“Okay, kid. You’re a persistent one, aren’t you,” Tony sighed, “If you want to finish your business, you have to recover first. You are in the compound, so follow the rules. Also, why the hell would someone randomly blow up your house in the middle of the fucking night?” He said as he sat right next to you.
“Well, if you have a father that has a job of being an assassin and legendary figure in the criminal underworld, everyone is bound to come for your head.” You chuckled lightly.
They know informations about you, given what the profile that SHIELD has of you. But there had been information in the file that had been omitted, information that shouldn’t be put in the file for your safety, if ever the file had landed in the wrong hands. So they don’t know everything about you besides what the file from SHIELD says. Even Tony, despite him being your uncle, there are stuff that he doesn’t fully know about you.
Everyone was just looking at you. You sighed and had decided that it’s time for them to know the truth. They are your family now, at least they deserve to know the truth about you.
“My father is Jarnadi Jovanovich. He’s an assassin in the criminal underworld. People professionally know him as Jonathan Wick or John Wick.” The team was listening intently at you, “They call him The Devil, The Ghost, Lo Spettro, Death’s Very Emissary, but he’s well known as Baba Yaga.”
“Baba Yaga? What’s that?” Rhodey asked. Before you can answer Rhodey, Natasha had beaten you off to it.
“It’s Boogeyman in Russian.” You nodded as a thank you at her.
“My father earned the nickname Baba Yaga because of his unparalleled hyper-lethality. His reputation throughout his career, his peerless efficiency and reliability had earned him considerable respect, and at same time, fear within the criminal underworld.”
“Well damn.” Sam said.
“My father has this persistence to go after those people who earned his anger, making him a legendary figure that is known to the leaders of all criminal organizations as someone never to cross or mess with.”
“Years before he died, he was an associate, the head executor of the leader of the Tarasov mob, Viggo Tarasov. My dad wanted to retire, so he did. But Viggo gave my dad an impossible task, which is to kill all of Viggo’s enemies in one night. Dad really wanted to live a life of peace, away from it all. He wanted to live, marry, and grow old with my mom, Helen Stark—uncle Tony’s closest cousin.”
“What happened then?” Sam asked.
“What do you think happened?” You chuckled, “I’m here right infront of you. He had succeeded the task and Viggo granted his freedom. Then yadda yadda, got married, dozed off into the sunset and eventually, they had me. When my mom passed away, dad had kept me hidden. Off the radar from anyone else that is connected to the underworld, aside from those people who he really trusts. Trust me, you wouldn’t want someone like my dad coming after you if you had betrayed him.”
“I can imagine.” Wanda chimed in.
“No one really knows that he has a daughter, up until now because he hid and protected me so well from those people that wanted to come after him. That’s why I never really use ‘Wick’ as my last name, knowing that if I use them, it will cause too much noise and unwanted problems for me. So I had decided to use Jovanovich as my last name, which is my dad’s legal last name. It helps me keep off unwanted attention at bay, and assassins and mob families coming for my head just because I’m Jonathan Wick’s daughter.”
“I have been living peacefully, as you all know. Despite the job that I do which is unusual for a teenager to be involved in, but not that I care, it’s fun—until last night, when someone had decided to blow up my house,” You growled, “I had just rebuilt that house, but the motherfucker had decided to mess with a grenade launcher and blow up my house.”
“Don’t tell us that someone had learned your true identity and had decided to come for you.” Steve said, concern evident in his face and ignoring the colorful language that you let out.
“Bingo, cap! You got that one right.”
“But who would even do that? You had made your private information completely hidden. I just don’t get it.” Bruce said.
“Years ago, before my dad passed away, at that time he was already retired. Mom just passed away, so he was on the grieving stage, some nutjob infiltrated our house and managed to beat up my dad, left him unconscious, killed our dog, daisy, which is a parting gift from my mom, and stole his car. Which also held very important memories for us. Turns out, the one who did it was Iosef Tarasov, Viggo’s useless and stupid son. Viggo respects and had always feared my dad, but his useless and stupid son had decided to poke the devil in the back.”
“When Viggo found out what his son did, he was angry. Viggo valued and respected my dad, he knew very well that my dad won’t let this go easily. His stupid son had killed our dog, daisy and stole his car, Iosef won’t be getting out alive after it. In the end, dad had managed to kill Iosef and Viggo as well. Now it brings us back as to why my house was blown up.”
“Before I went here, I had visited the Continental. Continental is a hotel for us assassins and other people that has ties with the underworld, it serves as our neutral ground. It is our sanctuary, where we can be safe, in where rule number one is that you can’t do underworld business, like killing, inside the contenental. Rule number 2, is to honor the marker. But story of marker will be on another day.”
“Okay, let me get this straight. This vendetta against your dad, and eventually you had started just because of a dog and a car?” Clint raised his eyebrows.
“Well, if you’ll look at it, that’s kind of what it is.” You shrugged.
“I mean that’s understandable, we have and dog and anyone who killed my dog, I’ll come after them.” Clint said. You nod in agreement.
“Is there a peaceful way to settle this?” Steve suggested, you just laughed a little bit in a maniac way.
“Cap, when you work in this kind of field, settling this is never peaceful. There will always be a loss of life that will be involved. Viggo tried settling this peacefully with my dad, but what happened? That man ended up dead, along with his son. That will teach you to never mess with other people’s stuff.”
“So what do you want to do now, doll?” Bucky asked.
“Meh,” You shrugged, “Besides, it’ll be no time before Tarasov put out an open contract for other assassins to kill me, putting a bounty on my head. Which brings me to my other agenda to talk about, I can’t overstay here in the compound, there will be assassins that will be after me the moment that open contract is up and going, I can’t risk them tearing up this place.”
“You don’t have to worry about us, (Y/N). We can completely protect ourselves.” Rhodey said.
“We have Bruce, he can just smash them in one go, it’s no sweat.” Natasha joked and everyone laughed, including you.
“No, do not in ANY way get involved with this. If you manage to kill one of them, they will know that someone is aiding me. I can’t afford for these people to know that I’m tied with you guys, I’m already thankful enough that the High Table haven’t caught a whiff of me yet being Jonathan Wick’s daughter, and I also intend on keeping it that way, thank you very much. The last thing that I want is the High Table coming for my ass.” You stood up so fast, causing yourself to wobble and almost fell out of balance, if it’s not for Tony catching you, you would’ve fallen on the floor by now.
“I will be staying at the continental, it is the place that I damn well know I won’t get murdered while sleeping for sure,” You smile at them gently, “Though no offense to you guys, okay? I know that no one will be able to get in and out in the compound that has state of the art techs, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. These people are really good in blending in, like one of those people that you’re fighting.” They nodded.
“What? Hydra?” Sam asked.
“Yes, them. You never know, that one of the staff that works here inside the compound might be an assassin. Who knows?”
“Okay, how about you stay first to get treated and after that, I’ll accompany you to the continental.” Tony suggested, in all honesty, he was not having it at all. He wants you to say in the compound, until you’re already in good state.
“Can’t,” You sighed, “I can go there through a an uber or taxi. You cannot be within the continental’s vicinity, ANY of you. That is the place where assassins are all in. They’ll easily know that I’m all connected with you.”
“There are a lot of don’t’s than the do’s, kiddo. I don’t like it one bit.” Tony was a bit frustrated.
“But to make it up for you guys, okay, fine. I’ll stay, but only for one night, to be patched up. After that, I’m gonna bounce out from here, but I’ll make sure that after all of this fiasco, I’d visit more often.” You smiled, and you compromise had earned cheers from the team.
You never stay too long in the compound, they rarely see you as well. You’ll visit once or twice a month, then there are times that they won’t see you for a whole month or two, depending on your work. So that’s why they wanted to you to stay a bit longer.
“Yay! Can’t believe that (Y/N) is staying with us for the first time!” Wanda cheered.
“It’s only temporary,” You reminded and smiled at Wanda.
“Hell yeah girl! We only get to see you once or twice a month kid, so excuse us if we get too happy of you staying instead of visiting just for a day and dipping out on us then going off the grid for how many months.” Sam ruffled your hair and smiled.
Tony put an arm around your shoulders to steady you. You hissed from the pain, there’s a wound in your right stomach that is yet to be treated, you got that after your last contract. It is taking its sweet time to heal, that’s why you took a break from work. You don’t want the stitches to burst open, and with the recent thing that happened to you, the wound surely bled and had opened a bit from the impact when you were thrown off across the room the moment that the explosion had happened.
Abram Tarasov really picked a good time to attack you, right when you were taking a break from the wound that you had suffered from. Knowing that your moves will be limited, that bastard. But he should always remember that any kind of wounds won’t stop you.
“Let’s get you to the the med bay so that you can be patched up asap, kiddo,” You thanked Tony silently, “I also need to talk to you about something.”
You thanked the rest of the team, and they told you that they’ll be visiting you in the med bay from time to time to keep you company.
Tumblr media
Once you arrived at the med bay, with Bruce following right after, it was quiet. They laid you down in one of the beds, you noticed an Asian woman, assuming that she’s the one in charge, walked towards you.
“Hello, my name is Helen Cho. I’m the head doctor.” She smiled at you.
Helen. She has the same name as your mother, you couldn’t help but get a little bit sad when you had remembered your mother. But you are quick to mask it off and smiled back at her.
“Nice to meet you, Helen. I’m (Y/N), Tony’s niece.”
Tony and Bruce stepped aside and watched while Helen patch you up. When Helen lifted your shirt up, you were correct, your wound on the right stomach had bursted off a bit. Causing it to bleed and soak in your shirt, you were thankful that it’s only a little bit.
“(Y/N), you were here at the compound yesterday, why didn’t you had it treated?” Bruce looked at you sadly.
“I was doing fine, I treated the would myself.”
“Is this why you’re feeling a discomfort yesterday?” Tony questioned.
“Yeah…kind of” You trailed off.
“How did you get that wound?” Bruce asked.
“I was fighting someone at work, when I didn’t noticed that there was an opening on my end, the asshole took their shot and managed to slash me with a knife.” Tony and Bruce sighed.
“So what’s the advice, doc?” Tony asked.
Helen was already working on patching up your wound, cleaning it off and sewing it close. After that, she proceed on cleaning the gashes on your forehead.
“The wound on her stomach may take a while to heal, it’s pretty deep. If you decided to jump back right in, there’s a high chance it will bust open again, and you do not want that to happen. If it did, you’ll bleed a lot, again.”
“It’s something that had happened to me before, I can take a little bleeding.”
“Are you kidding me right now, Jovanovich?” Tony bursted, “How many days does she need until she recovers?” He turned towards Helen.
“Maybe a week or two, the wound is deep and still fresh. I’m amazed that she hadn’t passed out yet for the amount of blood that she lost.”
“It’s nothing that I can handle, I’ve already done this so many times, trust me.” You butted in.
“Zip it, young lady!” Tony glared at you, you looked at him in disbelief.
“That’s it, she’s all patched up. She needs to rest for at least two weeks before she’s up and going again, I will be leaving a few medications for her to take, mostly to subdue the pain.” Helen cleaned off and kept the stuff that she used in patching you up and left.
“Thanks, Helen!” Tony and Bruce thanked him.
“I’ll go ask Natasha if she can lend (Y/N) some clothes to change on, she needs to change that shirt because it’s soaked in blood.” Bruce left the med bay.
“You know that I can’t stay here for two weeks, right?” You said to Tony as he sat down on the chair beside you.
“I’m not up for any arguments, you’re staying here at the compound until you’re fully recovered.” Your eyes widened.
“What?! You know I can’t! What the hell?”
“I said what I said, (Y/N). You are staying here until you recover and that’s final. No more arguments. Ajourned.” You groaned, knowing that you can’t win against Tony on this one, it’s a stalemate.
“Fine. Let’s just hope that Tarasov doesn’t put out an open contract while I’m completely out of commision.” You sighed. Tony stood up and hugged you, left a soft kiss on your head.
“Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something.” Tony sat back again and looked at you softly.
“What is it?”
“How’s the idea of you going to high school? There’s a good school that you can go to in Queens. Just a few minutes away from the compound.” You stared at him, not knowing what to say.
There’s a part inside of you that wants to agree, to experience living a normal life. But at the same time, there’s a part of you that you don’t want to. You are afraid that these people may come for you, in a place that a lot of people go to and doesn’t have any idea of what the hell is going on, there’s also a high chance that they can target you there. Where they can easily blend in, due to the amount of people that goes there. So you are unsure.
“There’s a boy that’s currently interning for me, he goes to the same school. You can hangout with him and his friends at school, you won’t be alone.” He smiled at you.
“You’re accepting interns now?”
“Really? That’s the only thing you gathered from what I said?” You chuckled.
“Look, uncle Tony, I’m thankful for the offer. Really. But I’m not sure about this one, I don’t know how long can Tarasov keep my identity any longer from others. I don’t want putting everyone there in danger, especially this boy. Can this boy even protect himself?” Tony smirked at you.
“Trust me, this boy can protect himself alright.” You narrowed his eyes at him.
“Don’t tell me that he’s one of the team.”
“Yes, no. Maybe, kind of? But the point is, he’s perfectly fine in defending himself. So you have nothing to worry about.” You sighed.
You wanted to agree, but the sudden idea of going to an actual high school might not be so bad. However, you aren’t permanently living in the compound, you are set on rebuilding your house, again. You are not sure that you’re capable of leaving the house, your family’s house where a lot of memories had been made. Your parent’s memories are buried there, so it’s one of the many reasons why you can’t make any hasty decisions at the moment.
“Is it alright if I can think about this first? It’s a lot of stuff to take in, especially that I had just taken a medication. Everything’s woozy for me at the moment.”
“It’s alright. I’ll give you time to decide, kiddo. No pressure.” You thanked your uncle silently.
You desired to live a life that your father had lived once. To grow up as a normal teenager that goes to high school. When your father got a taste of that life, everything had been worth it of leaving everything behind. But you chose to enter this life, the life he had before retiring, the one that your father had spend the rest of his life in staying away from the moment he retired, until these people had decided to throw him back in the game all over again. No matter how you desire for it, you know that you can never escape it. Somehow, it will be a constant in your life. The dream that you dreamed of, it will only remain as a dream and nothing else.
You never regretted any of the decision you made. You were thankful, you were given an outlet to release everything that you’ve been bottling up inside of you, it became a comfort for you. Thinking about it, if you didn’t make any decision of doing it, you might have ended up going all crazy. Your trance had been broken up by barking, it was Koda rushing near the bed. You laughed and reach down to pet his head.
“Hey, buddy. Sorry for leaving you there, but I take it that the team loved you.” You smiled at him and leaned in your touch.
“You know about my policy about animals.”
“Speaking of policy, is it possible to bend it a little on my favor?” You smiled at Tony cheekily, “Please.”
“Ugh okay, fine.” Tony playfully rolled his eyes at you, and you squealed in happiness.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” You reached forward and hugged him tightly.
“Sir, Mr. Parker has arrived.” Friday announced.
“Thanks, Fri. Tell him to meet me at the lab.”
“Ms. Jovanovich, Ms. Romanoff said that she will be bringing you the clothes later.”
“Thank you, Fri.” You break the hug, “I assume that it’s your intern?” Tony nodded.
“Don’t worry, I’ll introduce you two once you’re out of here at the med bay.” You nodded.
“Alright then, can’t wait to meet Tony Stark’s protégé.” Both of you laughed. He stood up from his seat, gave a quick hug and softly kissed your forehead.
“Get some rest kiddo. Red will be right up in a while.”
2 weeks.
2 weeks where you’ll be able to live normally for a while. You really do hope that Tarasov doesn’t make any move, or has said anything about your true identity to the others. You need 2 weeks of peace to think properly.

So because of my currently fixation on Wolverine and the way my brain loves to think up crossovers, I'm imagining how to translate Wolverine into the RWBY universe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It wouldn't be hard. One of the best aspects of Logan as character is his versatility. You can throw him into any story and it works.
His background: Weapon X is an Atlesian project designed to create super-soldiers to fight against Salem. Logan was kidnapped by them, had his skeleton laced with metal through a horrible process that he only survived thanks to his regeneration semblance, they armed with him retractable claws and scrambled his brain to keep him under control. And I really like the idea of Merlot being a member of Weapon X in his youth, maybe that's where he got his obsession of with controlling savagery.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How would he meet Team RWBY: Here's where it gets fun because there's a lot of options. Maybe Merlot wants revenges, remembers the projects of his youth and that Weapon X was kept in storage, so he awakens Logan and other assassins to fight Team RWBY, so we have him as an antagonist with a possible redemption after he is beaten.
Tumblr media
Maybe he is a dark card up Ozpin's sleeve, someone looking for redemption after his years as Weapon X and who Oz sends on truly violent mission that need dirty deeds to be done. Stuff he doesn't want to give it to Qrow for fear of worsening his mental state, but that Logan accepts because he figures it's the only thing he's good for, only now he's doing it for the right cause.
Tumblr media
Or maybe he is a broken old man way past his prime who fought Ozpin's war for too long and now just doesn't give a shit anymore. But when a kid inspires to entire world to band together and fight, he decides that it might be worth it to spend his last years fighting so the next generation can have the peace he wasn't afforded.
Tumblr media
And honestly, those are just off the top of my head. But I know RWBY fans. Most of you wouldn't care about a short, smelly, angry old man so how do I make you interested? Well bringing in Logan would also mean bringing in his children with whom he has a very complicated relationship. Laura Kinney, Akihiro and Gabby Kinney. They're all super-awesome, super-gay, and some even think cooler than their old man.
Tumblr media
Two more notes.
-I'd have all the Wolverines be Faunus. They're about as good a metaphor for prejudice as the mutants, so I think it work to combine some of the themes of both franchises, flawed as they are.
-I'd wouldn't bring in the X-Men, though. To keep things focus I want only want Logan, his kids and the characters related to Weapon X.
This is a silly idea that's been ping ponging around my brain. So I just want it to throw it out there. And I mean, there are two movies were Team RWBY teams up with the Justice League, is this really that much weirder?

Vaping vs. Smoking: The Ongoing Debate on the Health Impacts of E-Cigarettes
E-cigarettes, also known as electronic cigarettes or vape pens, have become increasingly popular in recent years as an alternative to smoking traditional cigarettes. E-cigarettes work by heating a liquid (often containing nicotine) and creating a vapor that is inhaled by the user. While some people believe that e-cigarettes are a healthier alternative to traditional cigarettes, the debate over the safety of e-cigarettes is ongoing.
Tumblr media
Let's take a closer look at what e-cigarettes are and how they work.
E-cigarettes are battery-powered devices that heat a liquid (called e-juice or e-liquid) to create a vapor that is inhaled by the user. The liquid typically contains nicotine, flavorings, and other chemicals. E-cigarettes come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from small, cigarette-like devices to larger, more elaborate vaporizers.
Proponents of e-cigarettes argue that they are a safer alternative to traditional cigarettes because they do not contain tobacco, which is responsible for many of the harmful chemicals found in traditional cigarettes. While e-cigarettes do contain nicotine, which is an addictive substance, they do not produce the same harmful chemicals such as tar and carbon monoxide. In addition, some people find that e-cigarettes are a helpful tool in quitting smoking, as they can gradually reduce the amount of nicotine they consume.
However, opponents of e-cigarettes argue that they are not as safe as they are often portrayed to be. While e-cigarettes may produce fewer harmful chemicals than traditional cigarettes, they still contain a number of potentially harmful chemicals, such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde. Additionally, e-cigarettes can deliver high levels of nicotine to the user, which can be addictive and harmful to the developing brains of adolescents.
So, what does the research say about e-cigarettes and their impact on smokers' health? The truth is that there is still a lot we don't know about the long-term health effects of e-cigarettes. While some studies have suggested that e-cigarettes may be a less harmful alternative to traditional cigarettes, other studies have found that e-cigarettes can still have harmful effects on the lungs and cardiovascular system. For example, a study published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine found that e-cigarette use was associated with increased inflammation and reduced immune function in the lungs.
In addition to the potential health effects of e-cigarettes themselves, there are concerns about the impact of e-cigarettes on public health more broadly. Some studies have suggested that e-cigarettes may be a gateway to smoking traditional cigarettes, particularly among young people. Additionally, there are concerns about the impact of e-cigarette vapor on bystanders, as the vapor can contain harmful chemicals.
Despite the ongoing debate about the safety of e-cigarettes, it is clear that more research is needed to fully understand their impact on smokers' health.
