MP100 does such a good job of committing to its theme that psychic powers don't make you better than anyone else. It's really common for media with magic or superpowers to pay lip service to the idea that the people who have them aren't any better than the people who don't, but then have their actual plots constantly undercut that message.
But not Mob! It takes its non-powered characters seriously; Mob's time with the Body Improvement Club and his friendship with Tome and the other Telepathy Club kids are just as important to his character development as any big psychic battle. On multiple occasions, Reigen's big contributions happen specifically because he *isn't* psychic--I'm thinking of the Shimazaki fight and the scene where he realizes Minori is possessed, but there are others.
And even when there are fights, they're ideological as much as they are physical. That's why Mob defeats Serizawa with an offer of friendship. That's why in the confrontation with Dimple in broccoli arc, Mob wins by *giving up* his powers, recognizing that they were preventing the two of them from actually talking. And that's why the thing that stops ???%'s rampage isn't another psychic; it's Reigen finally admitting to his own powerlessness.

gortash insists that he and the dark urge are the only two people in the world who matter-- his will is above all others, and the dark urge is his only equal.
and i think an interesting thing to consider, given the choices you can make in the game, particularly on the resisting path, is a dark urge who learns to value other people because gortash valued them, but that value doesn't stop at gortash. maybe it's true for a while that gortash is the only person in the world who can understand the dark urge, but he planted the seed of personhood (in the face of a cult who wanted a weapon, and a society that doesn't want a bhaalspawn) in the dark urge, and when they awake on the nautiloid, it's that seed that remains and allows them to truly connect with their companions. people who they otherwise would have seen as bodies on the alter of their father.
gortash is frozen in time, stuck in a world where there are only two people, after he gave the dark urge the key to a much broader and brighter world. and for a while, he lives in a world where that only other person was snatched away, until they come back, and now they want things gortash implanted in them that he will probably never understand.
gortash never experienced even a sliver of the temptation off the path of alienation that the dark urge is implied to have been offered in some of their flashbacks, and there's something so desolate about the idea of a person who gave someone exactly what they needed until that person's needs outgrew him, because he cannot change in the manner that they were able to.

Here's an old Total Drama flipbook I find pretty cool! There's a typo in Not Quite Famous' description...

Soooo like, are we supposed to just accept that Aemond’s 180 degree switch-up is totally in character and absolutely not a contrived effort to force the plot in one direction when 80% of s1 was spent veering towards another? ‘Cause I am confused.
Who is this Aemond and where did he come from?

Feeling really egoistical today: I'm in currently the middle of reading like three different biographies of some of the most fascinating people ever to have lived yet I've decided to spend the morning reading my old diary entries instead

shocking how few people seem to dive into a more full queer reading of cloud and ff7 in general beyond sexuality, i don't know how you look at him and how he interacts with the other characters and only see something gay with nothing complicating his relationship to gender. im sure theyre out there but the algorithms that be really want me to see everything that bothers me all the time

After a few months working while trying to listen to music, I think osdm, old school death metal, is best to keep focused and helps me type a bit faster. So gay but a quicker bpm gets me pumped up. I find it hard to focus especially on language-based tasks logic tasks when I listen to lyrical music, which distracts me from reading and writing...the rahhhhh arghhhh double bass stuff is the easiest for me
