Babe wake up, new Eeyyaah lore just dropped

Bringing back a concept I scrapped when I made Eeyyaah:

He's now canonically visually impaired!

He has blurry vision since birth (don't know how to scale it so I'll come back later but it's Bad) that even glasses can't fix entirely, but they make his head hurt anyway. He rather spends money on equipment than surgeries; as long as he hears and can play his instruments, he's fine. And he takes pride in it as well, sort of. Even visually impaired he's better than a lot of people everyone else. 😎

He uses screen readers and speech recognition commands on his consoles, magnifiers when reading on paper, and has a golem that helps him read and navigate the outside world (and fight if necessary) when he really, really needs to go outside (finally in-game Eeyyaah makes sense). Otherwise he's a hermit lol. Why go outside when there's music to make?

If he doesn't have his golem around for some reason, he uses his phone's camera to zoom in and read things, but he prefers his golem, because it's more convenient.

He probably also uses a piano keyboard instead of regular keyboard for shortcuts/commands/whatever because he knows those types of keyboards much better (by heart basically) and probably learnt to navigate them way before he touched any other keyboard/touchboard.

So... yeah! It's not perfect yet, I literally just thought about making this canon, so details might change over time...

感謝老媽， 讚聲南紡， 送了老媽兩千塊的購物禮券， 於是趁著過年前， 換個新的電磁爐， 不然家裡舊的電磁爐已經用了20年了， 但是為什麼台南跟高雄兩家夢時代都那麼難找電磁爐啊！ 品牌少款式也少， 從台南一路找高雄， 才找到價格跟外型都可以接受的。 雖然想買電晶爐， 但是就只有飛利浦有賣， 但是外型跟顏色我實在無法接受， 只好還是買了普通的電磁爐， 但因為我是要拿來用砂鍋的， 所以必須要再多加一片導熱板， 才能使用。 算是解決了電磁爐不能用砂鍋的問題， 但是問題又來了， 就是一開始加熱是沒問題， 但加熱一段時間後， 他就出現電壓不穩的燈示， 如果真的是電壓不穩的問題， 應該在一開始就無法使用才對， 不會用到一半之後才顯示啊， 所以我想問問有沒有人知道這是哪個部分出了問題？ 來說說這台飛利浦的電磁爐吧， 他的外型算是很簡潔好看的， 厚度跟重量來說也算輕薄， 也有各種烹調方式可以選擇， 可以事先預約烹煮時間也可以定時， 不用怕會煮到鍋子乾燒發生意外， 面板是是觸碰面板， 操作起來也是很直覺， 用了幾次就只有出現用砂鍋才會出現問題， 此外一切完美。 #householdelectricappliance #philips #electromagneticoven #inductioncooker #touchboard （在 周北極家） https://www.instagram.com/p/B8OStW8gcNA/?igshid=btl7o8mxiskc

Labeled-unlabeled, boxed-not boxed, white and black, male and female, good and bad; the performance focuses on the act of conscious and unconscious labeling, due to the strict criteria’s available in our knowledge of words to prejudice and stereotype people.

Jaskaran Singh Anand (Jaskaran Anand) was born in New Delhi, India and is now based in Linz, Austria. He is graduated in the field of Computer Science, and soon in Dance Performance and Pedagogy (2018). His work focuses on human psychology,political and the social issues of the world and he believes that the three are influenced by each other. He looks forward to crossing borders in different artistic mediums to support his ideas and work under collaborations.  He has performed, choreographed and taught across Europe, and India since 2008. His social dance project "A New Day" has been supported by Linz Kultur and he has been an assistant choreographer for an Indian feature film “Haider”, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. He has worked with Ivo Dimchev, Liz King, Dschungel Wien, Opera de Lausanne, Teatro della Tosse, Balletto Civile and has been part of festivals like International Festival of Dance like Impulstanz, Tanztag Buergenland, Oriente Occidente Festival and Roma Europa Festival.

Brigitte Wilfing ist Choreografin und Performerin. Ihr Arbeitsschwerpunkt liegt in der künstlerischen Forschung und in choreografischen Werken, die sich mit den Einschreibungen der Gesellschaft in den Körper und den Prozessen des Um- und Weiterschreibens beschäftigen. Ihre Arbeiten werden im In- und Ausland gezeigt. Seit 2006 initiiert sie und ist Teil von kollaborativen Projekten mit Künstler*innen und Theoretiker*innen in der Durchdringung von Praxis und Theorie. Derzeit (2017 - 2019) macht sie ihren Master in New Performative Practices (NPP) an der Kunstuniversität UNIARTS in Stockholm.

In seinem Kurzvortrag geht Sebastian Vetter der Frage nach, ob wir im letzten Kapitel des Patriachats leben. Friedrich Engels sah in der Entstehung des Patriachats gleichsam das Resultat des ersten Klassenkampfes. Für ihn war die Geschichte der Zivilisation undenkbar ohne die Geschichte der Unterdrückung der Frau. Gleichsam sah er durch den Kapitalismus die Möglichkeit den Sozialismus zu verwirklichen. Eine klassenlose Gesellschaft wäre demnach auch eine Gesellschaft jenseits des Patriachats. Der Vortrag ist motiviert durch die Frage, welchen Wert dieser Zugang nach dem katastrophalen Scheitern des Marxismus für unsere Gegenwart und Zukunft hat.  

Sebastian Vetter jobt sich durchs Leben und studiert Soziologie an der Uni Wien. Er ist aktiv in der „Platypus Affiliated Society, welche Lesekreise, Podiumsdiskussionen und Journalismus zur Geschichte der Linken organisiert. 

Zoltán Lesi - Sprung

Fiktion und Realität verschmelzen in den widersprüchlichen Aussagen über den weiblichen Hochsprungwettbewerb der 1936er Olympischen Spiele. Sportlerinnen, Richter, Trainer und Journalisten erzählen ihre Versionen. Dora Ratjen steht im Mittelpunkt des Geschehens. Sie konnte am Olympia nur teilnehmen, weil Gretel Bergmann aus antisemitischen Gründen daran gehindert wurde. Die Subjektivität ist wichtiger als die Wahrheit, da auch Sextests wichtiger sind als der Hochsprung selbst. Es gibt keine klare Geschichte über Dora / Heinrich Ratjen. Sie könnte ein Opfer der medizinischen Behandlung oder wie es im Polizeibericht steht mit “zweideutigen” Genitalien geboren worden sein. Aber kann man der nationalsozialistischen Sicherheitspolizei glauben?

Zoltán Lesi (geb. 1982 in Ungarn) veröffentlichte zwei Gedichtbände sowie das Kinderbuch Karton und Matild. Zoltán Lesi übersetzt deutschsprachige Literatur und ermöglicht den Literaturaustausch zwischen österreichischen und ungarischen Autoren. Stipendien: Zsigmond Móricz Stipendium (2016) Akademie Schloss Solitude Aufenthaltsstipendium in Stuttgart (2017), Mihály Babits Übersetzerstipendium, Villa Decius Aufenthaltstipendium in Krakau (2018). Sein erstes deutschsprachiges Buch erscheint mit dem Titel «Sprung» bei Edition Mosaik (2019). Er hat eine gemeinsame Ausstellung mit Ricardo Portilho Mattos. Sie wurde schon in ISBN-Galerie Budapest, in Akademie Schloss Solitude Stuttgart und in House Szkola Poznan ausgestellt. Zoltan Lesi hatte auch einen mehrsprachigen Performance auf TouchBoard in Literarisches Colloquium Berlin.

Kilian Jörg - Männerwelt

Kilian Jörg arbeitet an den multimedialen Schnittstellen zwischen Philosophie und Kunst. Hierfür bedient er sich des Ausdrucks von Text genauso wie von Installation, Performance und Musik. Er arbeitet als DJ, ist Gründer des Kollektivs philosophy unbound und ist in Wien, Berlin und Brüssel tätig. Sein Hauptforschungsgebiet ist jenes der ökologischen Epistemologie. Zuletzt erschienen: “Die Clubmaschine” (mit Jorinde Schulz - Textem 2018)

I just wanted to highlight a small project I worked on that revamped my country's founding documents. I worked mainly on the Women's Petition that was the pushing force for the Vote for Women. NZ became the first country in the world to allow that and I feel so happy to be a small part of our history. Around 32,000 signatures I self checked for out touchboards, not including our biographies!

Long story short: follow your dreams. It's not an easy road but it will be worth it. @taylorswift taught me this.

I’ve skipped quite a few months of work updates at this point. I will revisit previous works and projects at a later date.

For now:

I’ve started experimenting with conductive paint. After purchasing an Arduino-based based TouchBoard, which enables you to create a network of touch-based conductive paint and sound, I experimenting with both metallic objects that conduct electricity, as well as painting the conductive paint straight onto non-metallic objects: leaves, branches, rocks, flowers, sand, etc. I’d like to connect the TouchBoard to liquid too somehow - as shown on the Bare Conductive website (the site from which I purchased the board), it’s possible to mix the paint with both flow aid and certain types of oil. Although it would be ideal to use liquid, having the user touch a paint-based liquid would not be ideal; I’ll have to think of a better solution.

For the synthetic imagery, it should be fairly straightforward to simply add conductive paint accents to pre-made illustration that represent sounds in some way. Either adding these accents to vinyl stickers or printed images, or simply painting the conductive paint directly onto the wall using stencils, and linking them together using wires. I think it would be more fitting to the aesthetic of the piece to have bare wires linking the illustrations together rather than having long lines of black conductive paint over the walls, connecting it to the TouchBoard.

The TouchBoard itself will be pre-loaded with sounds: both synthetic sonic counterparts (modified field recordings or purely electronic sounds meant to mimic an organic sound) and organic sonic counterparts (raw field recordings) will be on the TouchBoard, recorded using 360 binaural microphones to give a true sense of an ‘environment’. When touching synthetic objects and drawings, an organic sound will play through the earphones/headphones connected to the TouchBoard. When touching organic objects, a synthetic sound will play. The aim will be to recreate environments that have both organic and synthetic qualities in both audio and visual form: whether the user will feel as if it’s an organic or synthetic environment remains to be seen, but it’s the contrast between the two environments, and between the two mediums (sound and vision) that interest me the most. I see this more as an experiment of sorts, to see what the user feels and experiences as the interact with the environment around them.

At the moment its difficult to visualise exactly how this will work; I’ve sketched a few ideas of how the layout could work in the first and second images attached. Ideally, two separate physical environments would be constructed; however, this would result in the need for two separate TouchBoards, which would make for a costly arrangement. Instead, I’m thinking of having one physical environment which would include both synthetic and organic sounds and visuals. Remains to be seen…
