I was a bit obsessed with Game & Watch handhelds back in the early 80s. Alas, they were not always easy to find and weren't always cheap. There were absolutely tons of them on offer, of varying quality. They were popular enough that versions were even made in the Soviet Union/Eastern Bloc. Pretty much all of the arcade games were ported to some sort of handheld/game& watch - Donkey Kong, Pac Man plus all sorts of others including rpg-like things. There were also numerous copies of these. I did own a copy of Donkey Kong but Kong was a vampire and you had to dodge ghosts and other things IIRC. Quite a few models had two halves that folded together, which was a design that was used in later handhelds - especially the Nintendo DS. I still own the first one I had, Shuttle Voyage. My original is on the right (from 1982, I think), the one on the left and the box were sourced on Ebay. G&W with a calculator were a bit more rare. There's a very good website that is a big archive of various handhelds from the same era here.

Picked up this 20 year old Samsung SyncMaster 193P from someone giving it away in the area. I thought the hinge and back design looked kinda neat I guess and I currently dont have any 4:3 Monitors, so I thought I might as well pick it up for my Windows XP Gaming Setup.

Also thought the round base design just looked so nice and clean. Interestingly this monitor needs an external power supply brick? Really slims down the actual Monitor design tho, I like it.

Anyway, turns out you can rotate this guy like crazy?????

Now I saw that little print saying dual hinge, but still I absolutely didnt expect this lol.

Maybe with my rigid 2 regular Monitors, Im just too excited to see a adjustable monitor, but this one just seems crazyyyyy.

Its so cool that you can kinda lay it totally horizontal and then still rotate it around like 360 degrees (albeit one way only ofc).

In diesem Beitrag möchte ich dir zeigen, wie du an einem Calliope Mini den Sensor DHT11 ein LCD-Display per Grove Schnittstelle anschließt.

Hier soll es nun darum gehen, wie man an diesen Mikrocontroller einen Sensor für das Messen der Temperatur sowie relative Luftfeuchtigkeit und die entsprechende Ausgabe auf einem 16x2 LCD-Display anschließt.

Aufbau des Calliope Mini

Aufbau der Schaltung

Durch die verwendeten Grove Kabel ist der Anschluss und somit die Schaltung recht schnell erledigt, denn diese werden lediglich mit dem Sensor / dem Display und einen der beiden Ports verbunden. Die Stecker bzw. die Buchsen sind so aufgebaut, dass ein verkehrtes Einstecken nicht ohne größere Gewalt möglich ist.

Calliope Mini 1.3 mit DHT11 Sensor & LCD-Display Das LCD-Display wird per I²C angeschlossen, hier dient der Grove Sockel beim Taster "A" (siehe Grafik), den DHT11 Sensor schließen wir dann an den übrig gebliebenen Sockel beim Taster "B" an.

Programmieren

Das kleine Projekt wird in zwei Stufen programmiert. Im nachfolgenden YouTube Video zeige ich dir, wie du dieses Projekt mit dem Onlinetool MakeCode von Microsoft erstellst. https://youtu.be/QeEfKS0XgsM Schritt 1 - Ausgeben der Sensorwerte auf der LED Matrix Im ersten Schritt wollen wir die Sensorwerte auslesen und auf der LED Matrix ausgeben. Wenn der Taster A betätigt wird, wird die relative Luftfeuchtigkeit, beim Betätigen des Tasters B wird die Temperatur in Grad Celsius ausgegeben.

Besonders zu nennen ist hier die kleine Pause von 2 Sekunden zwischen dem Schreiben der ersten und zweiten Zeile auf dem LCD-Display. Das Problem liegt hierbei beim DHT11 Sensor, welcher die Daten nicht so schnell hintereinander liefern kann.
