Energy Gain Determined by Aspiration Level

I hate how cheaper beds give less energy than more expensive ones, so I've used the same energy gain for any bed mod by Marhis for the longest time. But recently, I've started to feel like it's too cheaty. It makes my sims always sleep like logs!

So I came up with a solution that adds variation for all beds alike.

This mod entirely ties the energy gain to the sim's aspiration level. The lower the level is, the slower the energy bar will fill and vice versa; sims with their aspiration level well on the green side or above likely wake up refreshed.

Makes sense to me that happy sims sleep better than those close to the aspiration failure! The scale of the energy gain is about the same as between the cheapest and the most expensive maxis bed, so it's still well balanced too.

Just like Marhis' mod, this mod also makes children gain energy at a slower rate than older sims, to prevent them from waking up too early. Their aspiration level still affects the energy gain but the effect is smaller.

How do you imagine hybrids work in love and legends? We've seen elf/humans.

So there are 6 different species and aside from the mermaids, they're all compatable to have children.

I headcanon life expectancy, colouration, and the shape of facial or body features to be gradient traits, so they pretty much randomly combine between the two parents like any other child

Magical traits are probably more binary. So a fairy hybrid child could inherit the eyes, wings, and/or sparkles, or none, with no middle ground. A demon hybrid will usually inherit a faded form of the markings, but they won't always be able to transform or earn horns. Dwarf hybrids might inherit the ability to echolocate vs just having larger ears.

If two species with strong magic have a child, they're more likely to inherit magical traits (e.g. elves and fairies with strong magic vs humans and dwarves with low magic)

Considering the domains are all friendly with each other, I imagine it's fairly common to have mixed ancestry and there's no real taboo aside from the grief of lifespan differences

One of the biggest arguments I’ve seen used by the Ob*d*l*s against Anidala, is that scene in the ROTS novel where Padmé says she could trust OW with the secret of the rebellion and was hesitant to tell Anakin and I just wanna say:

Padmé wasn't an idiot. She was an extremely intelligent and competent woman, perfectly able to understand that loving Anakin and thinking that he could be trusted with a certain politic-related matter were two very different things and reducing her choice regarding who to trust with an important political matter only on the basis of her feelings of romantic love diminishes her professionalism, and this is why I say y'all could never understand her.

Padmé didn’t have to "love" OW or even like him at all to know he was the perfect Jedi to ask for help in a secret political matter.

That's the point being made in the novel, she’s hit with the realization that Anakin in this particular moment could not be told this piece of info because of his relationship with Palpatine, and Padmé specifically mentions in the Junior ROTS novel that she didn't want to make Anakin “keep a secret” if he didn’t agree with their stance because it’d be “unfair.” So this also played a part in why Padmé didn’t think it best to inform Anakin about the Rebellion. It honestly had little to do with her actually lacking trust in him, and more to do with the circumstances she was in not allowing her to be open with her husband and her not wanting to make him choose between his wife and his “father figure.”

However, Padmé knows OW’s political ideas aren't tied to ONE particular person but to a philosophy, one which is closer to her own, at that point. None of this was ever meant to be hinted as “romantic” or even remotely insinuated as romantic. It’s strictly professional and even the tone of the scene makes that so abundantly clear.

All I’m saying is that, some of these proshippers are doing the most out here to try and prove their ship, like my loves? You forgot a very important thing called ✨ context ✨ and regardless of her rational thinking, Padmé still went out of her way to try and talk out all of this Rebellion secrecy stuff with Anakin when she confronted him in the scene where she asks if he ever thought they were “fighting on the wrong side.” Padmé didn’t trust OW in the same way she trusted Anakin (with her entire self and being) she had the level of trust and love for Anakin that was only meant for him.

Mixing up her unwavering faith in Anakin as her husband with her trust in OW’s devotion to duty as her comrade/ally is purposely deluding yourself, because the two aren’t the same and therefore can’t be compared. An example of this is: Padmé constantly putting more value to Anakin’s words over OW’s in the end of ROTS when he came to tell her of Anakin’s “crimes”. She completely disregarded what OW had claimed about her husband and instead made her way to where Anakin was herself, to ask him directly. Despite what the truth was, this is proof of her trusting Anakin unconditionally, and I didn’t even think I had to spell that out because it’s as clear as day.

In conclusion, Padmé didn’t trust OW more than Anakin, she just knew the circumstances she was in didn’t exactly make it easy for her to openly talk with her husband about these matters and that’s part of what played into the issues they had in ROTS, it’s exactly what Sidious wanted. This scene in the novel doesn’t exist to imply some hidden romantic undertone that George was intending all along. No, far from that. George was always an “open, , clear and easy to understand” type of storyteller, so if the former was the case, this scene wouldn’t be any different if there was some hidden message or subtext the reader should be made aware of, George would make it obvious. Fact of the matter is, the one and only reason for this scene in the novel to exist is only to show to us as the “reader” that the narrative is tearing apart the Star-Crossed-lovers (Anakin and Padmé.) and visibly putting the two of them on different sides in the story because the consequences of this narrative choice is what will foreshadow and play into the inevitable and great fall of the couple and character in the future. Even the novel makes a very purposeful and clear distinction between “love and trust” in this chapter where all this occurs. Padmé’s dilemma in ROTS was overtly “Love vs Duty” and both GL and Natalie Portman have said so in ROTS features and a perfect example of this is the fact that Padmé loves Anakin, but knew she had to trust OW with the situation at hand. And if you want to talk “narratively” Padmé needed a reason to keep the Rebellion a secret from Anakin, thus leading to Palpatine to sense “betrayal” in Padmé later on, and using that to his advantage to manipulate Anakin even more into getting him to “suspect” her. It’s all spelt out for us and it’s not hard to miss. All it takes is a little media literacy and understanding context.

(Mind you, hypothetically, if this scene existed for literally any other reason, it would’ve been brought up again, but it wasn’t. It’s only mentioned once and exists for only one moment which was meant to serve a certain narrative and then it was done. There’s not much to make of it since the context of the scene is so clear.)

I've been thinking for some time what nick's zodiac sign might be and I'm really curious what others' guesses are.

There are two possibilities on how his birthday will be revealed: like sel's (he or another character will say what month he was born in) or like bree's (his birthday will take place during the canon events). Now, I have a feeling (which could be wrong) that his birthday will occur in oathbound. The timeline for the third book will most probably be November-February (maybe March as well but I think that's a bit far-fetched) so this results in the following options for his zodiac sign (i excluded scorpio because tracy wouldn't assign him the same zodiac sign as bree's):

capricorn

aquarius

pisces

I'm too busy and too lazy to actually search about these zodiac signs but i've eliminated the sagittarius and aquarius options from the list (sagittarius because my best friend who knows more about astrology and who is a sagittarius herself said that sagittarius men are fuckboys and aquarius because i know an aquarius guy and he is the most arrogant person i've ever met). This doesn't mean nick can't be one of these two. My knowledge in astrology is limited and I'm basing my assumptions on what I've heard others say and my own experience.

That leaves capricorn and pisces. Well, i know next to nothing about pisces (tho i know like three people who are pisces i just didn't interact with them enough to form an opinion or see similarities) but i've met quite a lot of capricorns. They're hardworking and they usually have this subject they're very passionate about (for example, my cousin can talk about computers for hours and my aunt has hundreds of books about the english language and literature). I'm saying this because we know nick has been searching for ways to bring his mother's memories back which means he has the ability to thoroughly research something and he is disciplined. They're also friendly (tho they leave me with the impression that they're actually judging you internally). I cannot tell if nick would fit in this zodiac sign or not but there was this guy in middle school who was a capricorn that shared some (a lot) of nick's characteristics/traits.

Anyway, sorry for rambling so much. My assumption that his birthday will happen in oathbound might be entirely wrong so that leaves other options as well. I'm really curious what y'all think.

I hc wash and south (and by proxy, north) as all being ODSTs prior to pfl and one thing I really like about hcing them as such is that it adds another layer of depth to why they were all chosen to be a part of the recovery force.

ODSTs are a special forces unit within the marines, and they're generally used as force amplifiers and in high risk or sensitive operations. two such scenarios include the recovery or recapture of personal and high level assets behind enemy lines, as well as deep reconnaissance and intelligence gathering. ODSTs are also used in politically sensitive operations, which pfl was following the crash of the moi.

so basically, who better to be on the recovery force than former ODSTs who already have a background doing the kind of work that would need to be done?

this also adds to some of the tension between north and south as well imo, as while they're a great team who are capable of working together they clearly have two very different skillsets—south is not portrayed as someone who has the patience necessary for long reconnaissance missions, and part of the reason why team b failed so spectacularly is because two snipers and an intelligence operative are not a good choice for a smash and grab mission. had north been replaced with south things would've probably went way better for them, because south is actually fairly similar to wash in her "get in, get it done, get out" mentality, though where wash comes off as more methodical and is willing to take that "wait and see" approach, south throws caution to the wind and has a "we'll cross that bridge when we get there" approach.

this is probably why wash and south were (on paper at least) going to get eta and iota—south would've benefited greatly from having an ai that was afraid and anxious as it would force her to slow down and think things through more, and wash getting an ai that was happy and cheerful would force him to loosen up a bit and be less high-strung and serious.

really only tangential to [this post] but it's always rankled me a little bit that "yelling" is treated in many, like, instagram infographic-style online spaces as if we have all agreed that it is some horrible thing that we should have zero tolerance for

idk.... i have been shouted at, i have shouted at other people. fundamentally i am not disturbed or distressed by the basic experience of "yelling". i don't like when people yell abuse at me out of anger, but i also would not like it any better if they said the same things to me in a quieter voice.

i think as someone who naturally skews LOUD just in general, i don't agree that "speaking loudly" is automatically the same thing as "speaking to another person in disrespectful/hurtful/inappropriate ways"

i am not arguing that other people have to like or tolerate or befriend people who exhibit this behaviour (or any other), just bc i don't mind it, but i would appreciate if people who hold different opinions also stop acting like their own feelings and preferences are universal truth.

Enneagram 1s in childhood tried hard to be a good kid, they understood that adults expect a lot from them, they are often The Hero , The golden child of the family. Simply being a mere child was not enough for them so they started taking on responsibilities that were better suited for adults and became too serious, mature for their age. As as a kid they may felt like they weren't doing "enough" & often felt very pressured to perform/do what adults expect them to do. The kid learned to exercise extreme self control and understood the dangers of following sudden impulses very early in life. Mostly, there weren't much acknowledgement of their goodness from the adults.

The frustration, resentment that the kid will be experiencing because of early responsibilities, having to exercise extreme self control, the pressure to perform will be denied, invalidated by themselves.

Its likely that they lacked the connection, bonding with the "father figure" ( it can be any "protective adult figure" doesn't always have to be the "father figure") where the "adult figure" somehow failed to provide them the sense of dependability, security in adequate amount. As a result the kids felt the need to "father" themselves. They wanted to become their own moral guide, make rules for themselves, police & punish themselves so that no one else would , they wanted to decide themselves what's wrong and what's right-- these are the ways they followed to decrease their dependence on adult figures and increase their autonomy. Even as a kid they might have felt obligated to fix their chaotic household and bring structure & stability to it.

A E1 kid will surpass your expectations, they will adhere to the rules so well & do things so correctly that you won't be able able to find a fault or error.

A E1 kid they will quickly learn that there is one "true" right way of doing things and their quest for finding out their "own" true right way will begin very early, the kid will always want to find out how they can do the things in a "better" more "perfect" way and may end up criticizing , judging, rejecting the "adult figure" 's methods. The kid will often feel guilty for criticizing the adults, in order to deal with the guilt they will start to build their identity around seeing themselves as more "mature" "responsible" "good" compared to people around them.
