FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE SEE TRANSFORMERS ONE! It is exactly the type of movie Transformers fans have been waiting for while also working as a great entry point for newcomers. It also, surprisingly, takes itself fairly seriously and isn't afraid to go into some darker subject matter. If you're wondering why the trailers focused so much on the comedy, that's just how the Hollywood suits think an animated movie will sell. The movie itself is more in tone with other Transformers movie but also really dives into themes of political corruption, injustice, inequality, and idealism versus extremism. The friendship of Optimus Prime and Megatron (or Orion Pax and D-16) and they're inevitable falling out is one of the film's strong points. Sure, it' pretty much is a family-friendly comedy for it's first half. But once it gets into the juicy stuff, you're glued. I would even say that first comedy-centric first half is necessary for the more serious second half to really hit you. And Cybertron is so fucking beautiful. It feels like a full, alive world. The voice cast is also stellar. Chris Hemsworth surprisingly works as Orion Pax and shows he can pull off the wise and powerful Optimus that he becomes near the end of the movie. Brian Tyree Henry steals the show as D-16 and Megatron, perfectly capturing his turn to villainy. There are also some twists and turns to keep the movie from being too predictable.
If I had any complaints, the film can feel a little too fast-paced at times. The important stuff is given time to develop, but everything else feels like it's in fast-forward (Elita and Bumblebee's friendship with Optimus feels a little rushed). This also applies to the action which can feel overwhelming. Not all the time, but most of the time. Bumblebee I can also see being a bit divisive. Some people may find him hilarious, others I can see being incredibly annoyed by. But I'm sure he'll be popular with the kids.
This movie apparently isn't doing so well, which sucks because this feels like THE Transformers movie. If you've enjoyed this franchise in the past, I'd highly recommend it. I want there to be so many sequels to this thing, I'm not even kidding.

Did you watch Transformers One yet or are planing to? Because I just did yesterday and hoooooly fuck. Holy fuck.
That being said I go ham the second I get the notification of a new chapter godspeed
So yes, I have seen it, and It's been at least two weeks, so I'm going to talk about my thoughts now. Spoilers ahead if you haven't seen it yet.
So I absolutely adored Transformers One, and it is one of the best Transformers movies that I have seen in a while. The plot! The world building! The characters! Oh my god! It was great!
So what did I like:
-I absolutely adored all of the nods to previous Transformers iterations. The soundtrack paying nods to Transformers Prime, especially the Resting Place of the Primes soundtrack. Makes sense since the composer was on the TFP soundtrack. Meanwhile, some of the iconic G1 poses for Optimus were present throughout the story. I'm certain there were other nods to previous iterations, but it's littered all over the place.
-I adored Orion Pax finally being made into a feral gremlin. In the Aligned Continuity, it was stated that Optimus was essentially living out in the woods before Alpha Trion found him. So TF1 Orion manifesting that energy was awesome.
-I adored the dynamic between Orion Pax and D-16, with such simple and massive things showing how they valued each other's friendship, only making the division and ultimate betrayal that much more devastating. Orion giving D-16 the Megatronus sticker, D-16 helping Orion escape the guards. The two doing the race together and going to find the Matrix together. These were all sweet moments that make us feel the pain of them falling into their respective roles. It also really helps that Orion and D-16 are in the same caste system instead of different ones. Many have criticized the power imbalance because of the caste differences, especially in TFP. So putting them on the same playing field does help establish how they handle their environments.
-Also, I adored D-16 descent into becoming Megatron. Some people do say that D-16's descent into Megatron was rushed, and I do agree with it somewhat. D-16 switched on a dime in a matter of three days while Orion still stuck to his morals through and through. But think of it this way: you've devoted your whole life to the system that you grew up in. Worshipping Sentinel like everyone else was, only to find out this guy betrayed the Primes, sold out Cybertron to the Quintessions, robbed you of your fucking T-Cog, and then lied about it to your face. Orion was constantly questioning the system and challenging it long before the reveal, which is why Orion immediately thought of what to do next. How do they fix it? How do they stop Sentinel and build a better world? D-16's whole world view was shattered in one moment, and from that moment on, he's not given any room to breathe and process his emotions properly. Everything else after that, from Sentinel Prime poorly branding him to the High Guard emphasizing strength over everything else. D-16's world view is constantly getting warped to the point where only ruthlessness matters. So when D-16 is at that pivotal moment where he's holding onto Orion, he decides to let him go, killing whatever inkling of kindness remained, leaving only Megatron.
-Oh Sentinel you bitch! I had a gut feeling from Bayverse, TFA, and Aligned Continuity, that Sentinel was going to be some sort of asshole. I just didn't know how. I thought he was going to just be a pansy in the face of the Quintessions. But instead, he sold out his own people to the Quintessions?! He killed the Primes! HE ROBBED BABIES OF THEIR T-COGS?! Bro what the fuck! You deserved to be ripped in half!
-Surprisingly, I adored Bumblebee. When watching the trailers, I was super worried that Bumblebee would be really bad comedic relief. And while there were some moments that did drag on, the movie knew when to pull back and let Bumblebee have a serious moment. Not to mention, the movie does justify Bumblebee's chatty nature, which is just a reflection of how absolutely fucked Sentinel's whole system is.
-Elita is a whole mood in the story. She worked hard to get a position she strived for, only to get fired because of Orion's decisions, is suddenly dragged into Orion's mess again, and then finds out everything is a lie. Like she genuinely did not want to be there and had to roll with the punches.
-I loved the subtle nods to how messed up Sentinel's system is. Orion scarfing down as much energon as he could. Miners being easily expendable and working in dangerous conditions. Bumblebee's forced isolation in a sublevel no one has even heard of. Getting robbed of your T-cog as a baby!
-The Birth of Optimus and Megatron was some fucking poetic cinema!
-The fight scenes were awesome!
-The A-a-tron is a reference to Key's substitute teacher sketch. I just know it.
-Comedy was on point and so was the angst.
-Voice acting was well done, although I did notice they reused the "C'mon" line for Elita at least 3 times."
-Shockwave: Why should we follow you?!
Elita punches her fist.
Shockwave: We will follow you! (I die laughing every time I hear that.)
-Airachnid going full murder bot and trying to stab everything with her claws multiple times.
-"NO I WANT TO KILL HIM!" My jaw dropped when D-16 said that.
Also I kind of got spoiled at the fact that both Sentinel and Orion were going to die. I blame the Youtube Algorithm for spoiling me. But I did not expect Sentinel to get ripped in half and for D-16 to fucking drop Orion!
What did I not like (or what gave me pause):
-Them kind of decided to use Airachnid in order to expose Sentinel. Like how did they know how to use the console in order to play back her memories?
-Alpha Trion saw D-16 tweaking so hard and so fast and still decided to give him a T-Cog! Yes, I know how charged the situation was but damn it Alpha Trion!
-I kind of expected the Quintessons to play a bigger role in the first movie, but they didn't. Which is probably good in hindsight because the story should focus more on the fallout of D-16 and Orion Pax. I just wish we saw more of the Quintessons. Maybe in the next movie.
-They really learned how to use their T-Cogs super fast. Also, how did getting T-Cogs teach them how to fight? D-16 was a miner for most of his life and is suddenly going toe to toe with Starscream, a trained military officer.
-Speaking of the high guard, I felt like the foreshadowing of them could have been better. I mean we do see them in the trailers, why couldn't we get a diagram of Starscream or Shockwave when Orion was rooting around in the archives instead of referencing them by name? Spiderverse does this type of foreshadowing quite a bit.
-As much as I liked Elita being so annoyed at everything throughout the story, I do have to agree with @lets-try-some-writing review of Elita in Transformers One (They also provide a really in depths analysis of the movie. So please check it out if you can). She is pretty arrogant throughout the story and doesn't really develop into being a kinder more understanding person. Also, how did she know how to fight before acquiring a T-Cog?
-I definitely see the argument about D-16's descent to Megatron is too rushed. Again, it did take like two to three days. I can see why people wouldn't buy it. (However, I'd argue that it's done better than Eren's descent into madness in AOT.)
-There were a few people calling Orion hypocritical for not wanting to kill Sentinel but he and a few others were killing a bunch of his guards. There's another video that goes into it. It's blanking on me, but the general idea is how Orion killed in self defense during a coup, and once he exposed Sentinel, there was no real need to kill anyone anymore. D-16's pain and rage towards Sentinel is extremely understandable, and I don't think that Orion's comment of 'not being like Sentinel' was meant to come off as hypocritical. Orion has been seeing D-16 spiraling for the past few days and isn't really sure how to stop it, nor does he really get the chance to. He's afraid of losing D-16 to his rage and anger and just wants him to calm down and stop before D-16 did something he was going to come to regret. Could Orion have been more proactive in doing this? Probably. But just like D-16, Orion is overloaded with new information, new threats, and the consequences of everything.
-I also agree again with @lets-try-some-writing on how D-16 had much more of a motivation compared to Orion. Like we know that Orion wanted to build a better world and prove that miners were more capable then what they were programmed to be, but what motivated him to do that in the first place? What was the thing that initially inspired him to do more and be kind and optimistic?
There are others who have conveyed their thoughts and written an analysis far better than what I have. This is just me rambling. But I still recommend watching the movie for those that haven't. It's a fun ride with fun nodes and it was clearly made with care and love for the franchise.
Also I finished the next chapter for AOP. I just have to make some edits before publishing.

I finally saw "Transformers: One" and I really liked it! If you like Transformers at all, it's a really fun and solid movie. Not, like, deeply sophisticated by any means, it got a little silly at times, though with the usual amount of on-screen robot death for the kiddos and everyone else to enjoy. But the movie was also compelling and colorful, visually striking and with pretty solid emotional beats, and it's perhaps the first time that I've actually really enjoyed Megatron as a character (as opposed to just being mostly neutral) out of what TF stuff I've seen. His voice actor really did a great job.
I wasn't sold on the animation, exactly, the first time that I saw the trailer. I do love stylized 3D generally, but I was still a little dubious with how shiny everything looked. Walked out of the movie at the end honestly loving the overall style choices: the still frames of the movie sometimes looked like really, REALLY well-done photographs of toys / photoshop edits of toys, and I liked it? Like if video game animation and stop-motion done with Transformers action figures had a really vibrant baby. Reminded me of an "I Spy" book for some reason. The backgrounds looked really great. It was different! And neat! I enjoy things that look a little unique.
It was fun to see what felt like really fresh takes on Optimus and Megatron. Like, I'm not married to any particular canon, so I don't really care about lore and characterization overhauls with new continuities, since TF has been doing that for a long time now anyway. I just want any given continuity to own its choices. It was funny to see Optimus as a "information and mobility and freedom of choice should be available for all! and I am going to pursue those things with the stupidest fucking stunts and schemes you've ever seen" guy and Megatron as a "believe wholeheartedly in suffering for the system until its deceptions are stripped away" guy. It felt almost like a role reversal sometimes, with certain lines, which was cool, but the conclusions felt very natural. Elita and Bee were also fun.
I liked how alien and scary the Quintessons looked compared to everything else. Cybertron as a constantly shifting planet was a fun and visually striking choice. Of course, the worldbuilding quickly starts to fall apart if you poke it too hard with a stick (intrigued as to what the hell was happening with Starscream and company's backstory), and I had some personal quibbles with the ending, but that's normal for TF stuff. I liked how fast-paced the movie was, I thought the humor worked better in context than it did in the trailer, and the action scenes were all a lot of fun. It was super cool to see them actually transforming and shifting between forms and into hybrid forms during fights.
Overall, it was entertaining! I'll probably go see it again for the visuals. I wouldn't mind seeing more of this continuity.

Man it feels weird getting what to me is the best possible outcome for a new transformers animated film and seeing people absolutely ragging on it right away. Films not even out yet, we only just got the first trailer. So why is everyone so quick to dismissing the film? Hell Bumblebee literally say badass in the trailer! They don’t do that shit for “kids” films so I don’t get why everyone is jumping to the conclusion just because the comedy in the trailer is corny that the entire film is inherently bad!
Fucks sake what’s the problem even if it is bad movie! It’s objectively a very visually pleasing experience! We get to see Cybertron more! The culture too! I’ve seen so many people beg for pre-war cybertron stories and now that we get it we throw fits? I’m amazed at the lack of care this fandom has given. Hell I’ve seen people get angry it’s not angsty or tragic and seems light hearted. Upset that Orion and D-16 act childish! When it’s been marketed as an origin story! And they’re meant to be teens! What the fuck do people think “getting a t-cog” is representative of huh? (It’s puberty or maybe the transition into adulthood by my estimation)
Anyway I’m a little frustrated and wished people weren’t so quick to pessimism. I will happily wait until next fall knowing I didn’t waste it thinking about what could have been.
I’ll give you all this though: I don’t like that it’s an all celebrity voice cast. However having studied film I understand why they have movie stars to boost the possible reach of the film. For example my mother watched the trailer because she saw Chris Hemsworth’s name and wanted to see what was going on. It’s annoying, but not some evil malicious choice on the part of the film by any means. Different can be good sometimes anyway when it comes to voices.

Imagine if Sentinel from Transformers one whole plot line is the typical run-away spoiled prince/princess trope but instead of freedom he running away from getting murdered by the quintessence...so he kinda faked his death by jumping off the cliff we see him on during the trailer, maybe he survived the fall by using his shield but it still does enough damage for the quintessence to think he's dead and leave him alone. Sentinel isn't dead but is very badly injured, so he disguises himself as a common maintenance bot and searches for any medical supplies or assistance since he is very and rightfully paranoid there might be more assassins after his life. After a while of bleeding, he eventually fainted in the middle of a rural area of Cybertron when he was found and tended to by an Energon farmer named Jazz and the two slowly developed a romantic over the time they spent the farm even as Cyberton got worse around them

So, I rewatched the trailer over and over again, I stepped back, organised my thoughts, and I think I get it.
So first the Bad, then the GOOD, because there's actually a lot to like here.
The Bad:
So, the trend of companies kicking actual voice actors onto the curb and replacing them with celebrities continues. I remember being really angry when they first announced the voice cast, and I still am. It's quite literally the most boring, generic casting possible. You can not get much more white bread, milk toast than a Chris and Scar - I want to play an Asian woman and trans man - jo. Also, why is Chris Hemsworth here? Do he really need the money? Did Thor 4 damage his pockets that bad? There are so many talented voice actors that could've been Orion, David Kaye is a prime example Animated Optimus and Beats Wars/Unicron Trilogy Megatron, beloved by fans, if he was announced people would've been over joyed. I love Brian Tyree Henry, and he actually has some experience with va work as he voiced Jeff Morales in Spider-Verse, my original criticism still stands.... And Kegan, oh Kegan, I love you so much, Key and Peele was my childhood, and the Toad performance was perfectly fine, endearing even. But as Bee? I'm sorry, but no, that's not BumbleBee that's just actor/comedian Kegan Michael Key, I can't hear anything else. And it doesn't help that he's handed the worst lines.
Which brings us to the comedy. First impressions are EVERYTHING. And if you fumble that that hurts your film, and the perception of your film. I think that's really the problem here, it's a bad trailer not necessarily bad content. Packing the trailer with jokes for the sake of jokes and having that samey Hollywood liscensed music cringey feel to it. Like the guitar riff that played when the 'This Fall' card came up just made me turn off the video immediately. That's why I recommend watching the trailer without sound. Bee's jokes don't really land for me, I'm sure kids with love it tho, and that's good. But I'm sure all the jokes won't be bad, the final door gag is actually really funny. So I think it was just a bad joke that soured out feel of the tone at the beginning, which is unfortunate because like I said first impressions are everything. Because this is Josh Cooly, of Up, Inside Out, Toy Story 4 fame, I'm sure the film will have an emotional core to it.
A minor thing I don't much care for is having Bee be in the same age range as Orion, in my mind he's always constructed during the war at like the half way mark or near the end, he's the little brother of the group, and now he's old enough to remember Op and Megs before the war. Also he sounds way too old.
Oh, also I don't like Orion's personality.
Good:
Now for the good; I think the animations style is gorgeous. Would have I liked something Spider-Verse/Mutant Mayhem-esk, of course, but what are you gonna do? The stand out here is the environments, a visual feast. This might already be my favourite Cybertron, it's so different yet reminisant of the Cybertron we know. The fact that the surface transformers and shifts and changes is genius, very IDW Phase 2 inspired. And the fact that Cybertron is a techno-organic hybrid world ala Beast Machines is crazy! I love that, and wildlife! I bet that's how we get the cassettes. The character models are great too, you can actually tell what emotion is happening on a person's face. Gone are the days of faces being made up of razor blades and mandibles BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT INSECTS FUCK YOU MICHAEL BAY. THEY'RE PEOPLE! There's the nose, the lips, the eyes, and I can tell where one begins and ends. The eyes are gorgeous and detailed, and the face surface detail has smuges, wear, specs of dirt, metallic texture. Like, you nailed it! It's a person but a robot, you got it!
We see what we assume are the 13 Primes, Alpha Trion being the only survivor, maybe they were killed by the Quintessons and they took over. D-16, a ref to IDW and his toys designation in the toy catalogue, he'll obviously name himself after Megatronus ala TF Prime. He seems to have the Decepticon insignia before meeting The Fallen so maybe Megatronus' face is some sort of religious iconography, the Primes are a religion on Cybertron after all. It's all so fascinating, I can't remember the last time I was so excited to learn more about a new TF continuity.
Orion and D-16 are both miners and or workers, that's a refreshing take, no coptimus here. They've suffered the same way together, I bet story will be about dealing with that pain, what justice means, how far one is willing to take it and where justice stops and injustice begins. I know people are mad that the origins are a little different, but I ask you, different from what? Which continuity are you talking about? TF has never had a consistent singular timeline, and that's what I love about this franchise! It builds on itself with each new continuity! Take a bit of the old, mix it with new ideas and create something fresh, then that old guard leaves and a new team takes over and does the same and the franchise continues to evolve or should I say transform. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get, and new incarnations always give second chances to improve apon what came before. No Reboots, no risks means no Skybite, or Nemesis Prime, no Stasis Pods, Sparks, Protoforms, Energon ore, no Star Saber, Hot Shot, Knock Out, Airachnid, no All Spark, no Sari, no Bulkhead, no old grumpy Ratchet, none of that. Reboots are a part of this franchise's DNA. I sense the people that are complaining are the people who only value one continuity and discard all others.
It's really neat this universe's version of The Cast System is lower class worker protoforms being denied a Transformation Cog, it seems like it's reserved for the higher classes, the very thing that makes their species special and unique is denied to them. Also I didn't notice it the first time, but Alpha actually pulls the t-cogs out of the dead Primes which kind of signifies a passing of the guard, the old Primes failed, now it's your turn, and of course history repeats itself with the downfall of Megatron.
I like how Trion is covered and intertwined with moss and vines and has a beast mode, showcasing that he's of an older era now gone and forgotten.
Some other smaller stuff:
The sun looks like a holographic simulation, which makes me wonder, Cybertron doesn't usually have a sun, but there's plant life now, so what's up?
The cave that the dead Primes and Trion are in kinda looks like a Dweller.
Megatron's black helmet is a ref to Marvel G1.
That spin kick where Elita twirls her entire waist around is sooo satisfying. I love it.
AIRACHNID!!?!!!! MY QUEEN HAS RETURNED!!!!!!!
I think that's a good point to end on. So, yeah, v excited.

i was gonna make a post that was about the fact that i imagine TFP orion pax was a massive nerd but not in a "cutesy doormat who can't speak up" way but rather in a "if he were a human he'd be the kind of guy who would explain to you the complexity of tool's songs even though the only thing you asked was what song was playing" way, but i felt the idea was too niche.
and then i remembered there is a loose tool/transformers connection because of this one fall of cybertron game trailer (which is part of the aligned continuity like TFP) that had a puscifer song (it's a band that was formed by the same frontman from tool)

My history with Transformers
So the Transformers franchise is officially 40 years old. It's pretty amazing how an inherently silly concept like alien robots who turn into cars has lasted this long and shaped so many childhoods.
Every fan's introduction to it, young and old, is different so I'd like to share my own story:
I watched a lot of cartoons and animated movies as a kid, quite a few of which had fantastical elements. But for some reason, I was the type of kid who didn't care for superheroes or giant robots. I knew of Transformers from an old VHS trailer for Armada, as well as that McDonald's ad for Hamtaro and Transformers toys, but that was as far as my knowledge of the franchise went.
It wasn't until 2007 when my brother got Michael Bay's Transformers movie for Christmas. I'd seen one toy advert for it but hadn't give it any other thought. When he asked me if I wanted to watch it with him, I shrugged and said: "...Yeah, sure, whatever." So the next day, we sat down and watched it. After it had finished, he found it okay... but I, on the other hand, was completely mesmerized throughout the whole movie.
Everything about it astounded me: the action, the visuals, the distinctive designs of each robot, the way the parts of every vehicle folded into every robot's body. Now I finally saw how neat giant transforming robots could be.
If I remember correctly, my favourite Autobot was a tie between Jazz (the cool guy of the group) and Optimus (the big badass truck with the awesome voice). And my favourite Decepticon was Bonecrusher mainly due to his wicked design with the wheeled feet and that claw on his back, along with the fact he was the only one other than Megatron with the ball bearings to fight Optimus (I was really bummed I couldn't play as him in the PS2 game LOL). Afterwards, the very first Transformers toy I owned was Deluxe Class Wreckage which I bought from a charity shop.
It's pretty safe to say that from that point onward, I was hooked on Transformers (the Bay films at least, before I learned the problems with them later down the line). I saw the two sequels, started collecting the toys, drew the characters, played the tie-in games, and even called Dark of the Moon my favourite movie at one point.
While the fourth film was being developed, I was hungry for some more Transformers content. So I decided to try giving one of the TV shows a chance. I was unsure where to start, until I discovered a clip of Optimus and Megatron fighting from Transformers: Prime which had just finished its first season. My interest peaked, I watched the whole show and found that I loved it even more than the Bay films, finding all the characters, stories, action and humour to be major improvements. At present, it's still my favourite Transformers show. (Arcee's my favourite 'Bot while Knock Out and Starscream are tied for my favourite 'Cons)
In-between Prime's mid-season breaks, I also took the time to watch the original G1 cartoon, including the 1986 movie. It was nice to go back to the franchise's original toyetic and silly yet still adventurous and enjoyable '80s roots. Despite having been spoiled on Optimus Prime's death years in advance, it still got me emotional (that soundtrack kicks ASS).
I even bought and played the War for/Fall of Cybertron games on PS3, loving the epic scale and the robot designs which seemed like a sleek blend of G1 and Prime. It was also my first time playing a Transformers game that took place entirely on Cybertron rather than Earth, which was really cool.
Suffice to say, all this exposure to different Transformers content and having fun comparing them had strengthened my love for it. And despite now knowing full well how nonsensical, repetitive and dull the movies were by comparison, I decided to give Age of Extinction a fair chance once it finally came out... it blew. XD I didn't even bother to watch The Last Knight later, and from what I've read up on it, I didn't miss much.
And since then, my subjection to other Transformers avenues has only grown:
I watched a tiny bit of Robots in Disguise (2015) but didn't find it as engaging as Prime
Watched all of Animated (fun show, really should rewatch it at some point)
Found Bumblebee to be the best live-action movie with a touching smaller-scale story, slicker action and more memorable villains (thank you, Travis Knight)
Got to meet David Sobolov at a convention (really cool guy) and compliment him on his performance as Shockwave
Checked out all of Beast Wars (R.I.P. Dinobot)
Watched the wholesomeness that is EarthSpark (don't care what anyone says, it's great)
Had a fun time with Rise of the Beasts (loved this version of Mirage)
And I may go to TFNation this year to meet David Kaye, Gregg Berger and Kathreen Khavari. Hopefully in the future, I can meet Peter Cullen and Frank Welker as well!
So, yeah, that's my vividly detailed history with Transformers. In spite of the degrading quality of the Bay sequels, I still have a soft spot for the first movie. The effects and action sequences (especially Blackout's introduction, Scorponok's attack and the highway fight) still blow my mind, and it was the movie that struck a chord with me and prompted me to dip my toes into the vast ocean of this franchise.
And I'm incredibly thankful that I did. It's brought me so much joy over the years and I could never imagine my life without it.

Another game of chicken commences...
Paramount's all-animated TRANSFORMERS movie TRANSFORMERS ONE, now that its trailer is out, is set to open a week later than planned... September 20th... The same day as DreamWorks' THE WILD ROBOT...
Will someone blink? Or will both distributors commit to this and make for a Bluth-Disney style bot battle? Like LAND BEFORE TIME and OLIVER & CO., ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN and THE LITTLE MERMAID?
That remains to be seen. If one moves, I suspect it'll be THE WILD ROBOT. Probably ahead a few paces to early September to get some ground, or maybe to October where it'll largely have the month to itself. Either way, one's based on a book series, the other a biiiig franchise that has already seen multiple movies and TV shows over the course of five decades.
Elsewhere in Paramount's animation schedule, the new AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER animated feature vacated October 2025 and went to January 20, 2026. Perhaps it was to leave 2025 with two Paramount animated movies, SMURFS and SEARCH FOR SQUAREPANTS. AANG now shares 2026 with a third PAW PATROL movie and a MUTANT MAYHEM sequel, and possibly the second animated A:TLA movie. I'd imagine there's some more movement on their slate thereafter.
As for the trailer itself? The movie looks fun! Definitely a lot looser-looking than the live-action movies' hyper-detailed CGI counterparts. Heck, the faces kind of remind me of Carl the robot from MEET THE ROBINSONS... but I like how Cybertron is realized here, and the sorta workplace comedy dynamic with the Autobots. They're younger, much like the turtles are in MUTANT MAYHEM, so there seems to be that kind of energy in the script. Before they became who they are, and how different they are as younger robots. I'm curious to see how the film, or the trilogy that it's supposed to start should it do well, evolves these young Transformers and how Optimus and Megatron have their falling out. I wonder if it's going to be a thing in this film, or something in one of the sequels.
Either way, this seems like it'll be a cool ride.

What would you say your favorite part would be from Transformers one?
I was surprised and kinda delighted about how dark it got. The trailers gave it a “lighthearted kiddie film” vibe. So when D-16 started talking about how he wanted to kill Sentinel, me and my friend gave each other a look like 😯
That being said, my favorite part was Orion and D-16’s friendship, and watching in real time how it fell apart and how they became what we know them as today. That was definitely a strong point for me.
I really hope the film gets more attention cause I’d totally be down for sequels where we get to see the war and fall of cybertron.
Bonus fact, the Minecraft trailer played in front of the movie so every time the movie mentioned “miners” me and my friend went

Sometimes I think about how my mom used to play Evanescence's Fallen CD in the car when I was a kid, and how my brother and I would listen to the teaser trailer for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron because it had "Humbling River" by Puscifer playing over it, and how I would rewatch the Bionicle trailer for the Baraki arc because of the song "Creeping in My Soul" by Cryoshell, and how I didn't have band names or song titles to connect to them at the time, so they just existed as tantalizing nameless pieces of music that stayed with me long after I'd first heard them. I mostly listened to pop and whatnot growing up, but none of that music stuck with me like those songs did. And I look at my music taste now and idk I get this weird feeling that's somewhere between nostalgia and inevitability. Something something my music taste has come full circle. A perfect circle, if u will.

Skybound's Energon Universe trailer
I continue to be totally normal about this so under the cut are some stills from the video because :3c intwesting??
We get a short intro; "The Transformers robots awaken on Earth". I guess this means they're going for the same G1 premise of the Autobots and Decepticons having crash landed on earth and ended up in stasis. That's kind of an interesting thing if they keep the timeline the same too, because it's one of G1's enjoyable but unrealistic and silly points that both leaders and all the high command holders were taken out of commission 4 million years ago, and yet the war continued. I wonder if they'll make a few changes so this feels more believable, and how Arcee being on the Autobot team changes things (is it still mostly the Autobot ladies who kept fighting Shockwave on Cybertron, or has that dynamic changed completely?).
I'm sorry I said there would be pictures I will stop theorising
So we have a nice colour scheme for Ratchet, and a peek at the human I will forever think of as Marty McFly and someone else.

Soundwave knocking Optimus off his feet, you're doing amazing sweetie

I'm never going to get enough of this shot of Starscream reaching for a fighter pilot, I can't wait to see the full size colour version on issue #2's cover.

And finally, the detail that really got an OwO?? when I paused the video to take things in: The Ark overhead behind a Cobra agent?! Is it falling, is it taking off? We know Transformers and GI Joe's fates are being twisted together both here and likely in the upcoming live action movies, so I need to know context for this

Just a random idea I had in my head of putting Hakumen and Susano'o together in a video. I've always liked trailers with alot of out of context clips and voice lines played over some awesome music. So I made this video for myself to emulate that sort of feeling without it actually being a trailer.
The music is "The Last Kingdom" composed by Alessio Nanni and produced by White Noise Factory: https://www.whitenoisefactory.com/transformers-fall-cybertron-official-launch-trailer-music/
It was used in the launch trailer for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron which was where I heard it and I still think it's one of the most epic video game trailers I've ever seen but that's probably because I've always really liked Transformers and the High Moon TF games. https://youtu.be/crNxuIfEwaA

for those who are not aware of transformers very much, this is a reference to a trailer for the 2012 video game Fall of Cybertron. It is an utterly haunting trailer that tells you nothing about the gameplay but perfectly conveys the tone of the game by using Puscifier's Humbling River for the music.

If i had a nickel for every Transfotmer that was a dark clone of a main character with a specific color scheme, I'd have at least two nickels.

Scourge/Black Convoy from RiD/Car Robots was the first Transformer to use a colorscheme that would be iconic for a specific type of character- the evil clone of a good guy, typically of Optimus. Dark grey, black, metallic teal, and red eyes or windows. Most of these characters would be known as Nemesis Prime or Black Convoy, depending on language. There are two main exceptions to this- Scourge (though his Japanese name is still Black Convoy) and Nemesis Breaker from Transformers: Cybertron.
Scourge was one of the Autobots sent to find Fortress Maximus/Brave Maximus. Corrupted by the evil in Megatron/Gigatron's Spark, he would be a Decepticon. But when scanning for an altmode, a freak accident occurred. An oil tanker truck was careening into a crevice, but Optimus Prime/Fire Convoy was able to stop it from falling in or spilling. Scourge's pod scanned not only the tanker, but also Optimus and the human driver. As such, Scourge's robot mode resembles Optimus, his vehicle is the tanker. The effects of scanning the chronically unlucky Kelly had yet to be seen...
Scourge's desire to eliminate Optimus and continue his search for Fort Max led him to eventually find the ancient Titan under the Earth's surface. He attempted to use the power of the Titan to eliminate both the Autobots and Galvatron, but Fort Max is hardcoded to not be able to be used for evil. Galvatron rebuked the rogue Decepticon, stripping out what free will had developed since his reactivation.
After the events of the cartoon, in extended comics, the Predacons would all turn heroic. Even the Commandos would find a temporary moment of redemption. But for Scourge, his personality would remain more or less fixed. Cold and merciless, driven by ambition and fury. Galvatron even tried sucking the evil out of Scourge's Spark, much like he had done with the Sparks of the Commandos. However, the artificial intelligence Dark TAI restored Scourge's evil personality by force- and did the same with the Commandos. The six Decepticons set out, looking for new worlds to conquer- and hopefully avoid detection by the Dimensional Patrol.
I typically give him the Dark Saber minicon team, one because it's thematic (Nemesis Prime in Armada had his own equivalent of the sword) and because due to a childhood mishap he doesn't have the sword or projectiles he came with. The pin that keeps the lid on his trailer fell out as well, so I don't use it much. At some point, I want to replace him with the updated Legacy version of the mold. I haven't gotten around to it yet.

The Megatron of the Unicron Trilogy had faced multiple resurrections. The first, he had driven himself to die within the body of Unicron. The sheer hatred he carried for Prime gave the Chaosbringer just enough energy to continue living despite the coalition of Autobots and Decepticons. His body then would siphon Energon brought by Alpha Q and his Terrorcons, bringing him back to life in a new form. Later, he would drive himself into an Energon sun to rid himself of the influence of Unicron on his mind. It didn't work, as this sun was consumed by the Unicron Singularity- a black hole created by the total destruction of Unicron's body. There, the essence of Unicron bonded to what remained of Megatron, resurrecting him again bearing the Armor of Chaos. Now the Decepticon had some of the power of the dark god at his beck and call.
The Autobot Overhaul was fatally wounded in a battle on the Jungle Planet. Through reformatting, the power of the Jungle Planet Cyber Key was able to save his life and transformed him into a form more suitable for the planet's terrain and theme. He would then be known as Leo Breaker. It was found that Leo Breaker and Optimus can combine into Savage Claw mode. Later, Optimus would combine with Wing Saber, which allowed for a more versatile form for combat. This led to jealousy in Leo Breaker.
Megatron sensed this metaphorical darkness in Leo Breaker's Spark. Pulling on the power of Unicron, he extracted this darkness and gave it a form- a dark mirror of Leo Breaker, Nemesis Breaker. Nemesis Breaker never developed much of a personality, either staying in his lion mode or combined with Megatron as Dark Claw mode. He would "die" when struck by the colossal power of Giant Planet Autobots, returning to the abyss from whence he came.
