I wish there was a Transformers video game where you play as Optimus Prime, and you have to send your allies out on missions. You can go on them too.

If a mission goes well maybe you gain resources to new allies, if it goes poorly you could lose them instead. Your team or the enemy could have characters on it that might die if they go on a mission injured, or due to danger chance.

Characters could have special traits or abilities that better fit some missions over others. For example maybe sending bumblebee on a scouting mission would give a 50% bonus to discovering energon deposits, or sending him on a mission not scouting focus could mean he gives a 10% chance of finding energon. Sending Ratchet on a team could lower the chance of injuries picked up. Putting Ultra Magnus in charge of a team could lower the amount of time the mission takes.

Maybe when you are on a mission, or you're at base in between missions you could talk to your teammates who are around. Perhaps some missions last a day, others last days, or weeks in game time. So whoever is around you can talk to and build bonds with leading to more conversations/plots revealed. Maybe if you don't trust a bot enough, or don't talk to them/meet their needs that can lead them to betraying you. You could include so many of the transformers in a game like this too (and people could learn about them as Optimus does in a setting that feels natural).

I'd just really like to see a game where you play an Optimus who is at the beginning of being a leader, and learning the devastating cost of war, as well as how far Decepticons would be wiling to go to win. (And you know it wouldn't have to have romance elements but I would have any Optimus I control hang out and listen to Ratchet so much).

I wish I knew how to code games so I could make this happen. Alas my skills rest primarily in writing. However if someone else is interested and needed help with writing it, I'd totally be down for it!

Edit: It seems like a lot of people are interested in this idea. Or at least think this is a kind of game that would be fun to play. So I have two questions for everyone:

1. Do y'all think I should try and put together a team of fans to make this game happen?

2. If I did try and put together a team would you want to join and if so and what capacity? (Ex. Artist, coder, writer, etc.)

So I bought transformers Galatic Trials because I like racing games and transformers a lot, and I’m really enjoying how they made it feel like transformers. (I’m just ranting my thoughts here, not a review or analysis or whatever. There isn’t any story or anything, I just think it’s fun)

The game itself is pretty mid when it comes to gameplay, not really in a bad way since it controls well but it isn’t anything special, but the premise of the gameplay is actually brilliant.

Cause, one of the problems of making a transformers racing game is… how can you make it feel like transformers? If they’re in their alt mode the whole time, it’ll just feel like a normal racing game with a transformers coat of paint. If they’re not, it would be weird that they’re riding in a car when they can turn into a car themselves.

Well, the answer here is simple - they made it a racing action game. Basically you transform into robot mode during segments of the race and go through obstacles and enemies, using the same button for accelerating to fire your weapon.

They also tie them together in some interesting ways, like your boost meter is tied to your special weapon meter - so if you boost before transforming, now you can’t use your special weapon that could help you in the action segment. It adds some strategy to normal racing, to decide whether boosting is more beneficial than potentially using a special move or if you can regain your energy before the next segment.

I just think that’s a really smart way to make the game more unique in a way transformers can do - they have two modes, so having two types of gameplay which can affect one another fits the gimmick.

Idk, I just want to rant about this game since it’s kind of just been ignored by most people. For good reason too, since it’s not exactly a triple a or super impressive game. It’s just a fun arcade racing game with a stupid story stapled on.

I was just playing transformers rotf and I was doing a mission as ratchet where I had to go get ironhide and see if he was alright.

So anyway, i found found and he's all good then I was shooting a decepticon, and I notice somthing in the corner of the screen and I thought "what is that?" But I looked away to concentrate. I look back after killing the decpeticon

A Transformers Strategy Fan Game

Playing as Optimus Prime a brand new prime who must learn how to be a leader in a war he wasn't prepared for. The game would be focused on deciding who you assign to which missions, and resource gathering, with a heavy focus on character dynamics with each other. More of the initial idea can be found in this post.

This will be a fan made game that will probably take a couple of years to completely put together. Currently looking for writers, artists, and programmers!

Some ideas of what to include in the game is:

Characters building bonds with those they go on missions with, including Optimus (potentially negative and positive).

Missions that go well can results in resources, or even new characters on your team.

Missions that go poorly can result in lost resources, injuries, and dead characters.

Characters give bonus on missions, or penalties if on a mission while injured.

Characters betraying their teams (decepticons & autobots depending on choices).

Missions taking a varying amount of in game time (1 week, 1 month, etc.)
