#*chanting* skask skask skask skask-#vincent aurelius lin#adamandi#hello. let's talk about what's going on here! i've been tossing the idea about here wrt skin translucency ever since that post came out#(it's linked above fyi. but to quote it.) 'attempting to pursue this unachievable white ideal of the young academic; maybe leading to gory#representations of mimicry; replacement; taking on someone else's skin; altering the self'#this is primarily key in vincent and the skask; in the actual show iirc they used a jockey mask or smth? but i was thinking about the#delightful way skin is semi-transparent. and so a literal layer of skin alone would be unlikely to provide the whiteness pursued-#the under layer of the original tone would be there. so smth about the failure and unattainable.#additionally; at this point of the show the skin would have been likely yellowing or greying due to post-mortem development? so even more#Not white. from observations (as a kid;comparing skin tones?) white people have a pinker undertone (this might be. a generalisation but.)#here the lighting is yellowish to further push the difference + give the super harsh lighting that if you suspend disbelief has some hair#appear as blonde to further the ambrose-ness.#also the hair- messier on the non-ambrose side; a reference to the whole monologue about the haircuts they got#we bring to you also another episode of <i like drawing fabric folds> in the jacket symbolism! from bottom right to top left; it tracks#vincent throughout act two: the initial long jacket for standing out (nonchalance?) at ardess is removed; the yellow coat is put on- aided#here by ambrose's ghost which is represented by the hand! (it is very very slightly transparent- you can see the jacket pattern through it)#(if you look close) and then the satchel goes over it; this mimics the clothes in <oh ms reporter>#and then the Actual Ambrose jacket goes above along with the skask; following the outfit from the pyre scene at the end.#the spark/star thing is partially foreshadowing for the upcoming stabby eye trauma thing (@quincy) and partially just so i could highlight#the eye of the mask/ the place where vincent's eye probably is Behind the mask. because i liked the idea of merging faces; intersection.#back to the translucency of skin - you can kind of make out where the rest of his face is from the darker bit? aka it's not the same colour#as the skask. smth smth limited effectiveness...#tldr? face skin. jacket skin. altering appearance over time; unfeasibleness#when i was doing this i suddenly remembered covering my skin in talcum powder as a kid... hm. i'd forgotten about that.#anyways! when i posted my first ever adamandi thing i had the thought of 'this musical makes me want to paint' and surreally enough#that has proved to be so so true. and ngl i am really enjoying it? love it when the motivation to create is there haha#i will add as a disclaimer that i'm literally chinese and if the colours look off.. i did not mean to make a caricature. please be nice#that said because stage lighting tends to shift colours about a Lot i essentially used my own skin as a reference under yellow light?#so hopefully that checks out. <disappears>

#ignore the fact that shes a monk she'll sub princess later#the original portrait i used as a base was the emd one and i just wasnt vibing with it anymore since i made it a year ago#i like this one a lot more but god tracing and shading was annoying#cuz i could not find a high quality png anywhere#and the way i make these is tracing over the original portrait and using translucent layers to shade where the original shading is#which is. very difficult to do well with shitty images

been working on a new story and I really really like the characters so far
#the story is a little religious horror thing about a french monk (brother amédée) from the 1700s who starts developing some sort of mystery#he believes he picked it up from the plague ridden village below but keeps it from the other monks bc he's rlly serious abt his work as-#a scribe and illuminator of manuscripts. the winter only gets harsher and harsher and so does his illness. when one day a man appears at-#the doors of the monastery claiming to be an enlightened former heretic who traveled a long way to find amédée specifically#the stranger isn't sick or injured from the cold so they believe he's actually blessed by god and let him in#amédée and the stranger becomes really close and amédée ends up telling the man about his illness#he peels back his robes to reveal bruised and torn skin around his joints that the stranger immediately recognizes#he convinces amédée to let him help. amédée agrees and the stranger takes hold of his arm and peels a thin layer of amédée's skin off#like it's just a piece of paper. needless to say amédée is terrified and in a lot of pain. however the man insists that this is a good rhin#amédée is becoming a holy vessel for the word of god. and his skin will be the paper for his most grand manuscript yet#amédée ends up feverish. spiraling. and in constant pain from his illness and the work he does despite it#he starts to see symbols that aren't there in the margins of his work. the walls pulse and swell like breathing and the man pushes his luck#begging amédée to keep going. and because this is a stranger he's come to love. he keeps going#in the end amédée is nothing but muscle and bone with thin translucent skin barely stretching over his frame when the other monks find him.#he's deathly ill and radiating a feverish heat. but he's alive- with eyes half-lidded and gaze transcending beyond the pain#the stranger he's grown to love has disappeared leaving him with nothing more than a hazy memory-#and the feeling of cold lips that kiss his forehead.#lambskin gospel#my art

GUYS I printed a glow in the dark and rainbow gradient flexi spino and a few flush objects along side it, and I love how they turned out!! I’m especially surprised that the tiger is still fully articulate as such a small size! It’s only about 3 inches tall to give you perspective
And here I held the light on them for longer to get a stronger picture! The pics came out pretty accurate to how they look irl!
#I had to color the spino by hand bc the pre-painted model wouldn’t load for me :/#that first vertebra was so finicky to color bc it’s just slightly less defined than the others#so I had to color each individual triangle on that piece of the model#this might be gibberish to anyone who doesn’t 3d print. but it was frustrating. trust#also the translucent rainbow and the glow pla sort of mixed in the tiger bc the filament was switched for each layer#so the glow pla made the rainbow pla glow and the rainbow gave the glow some extra color. so the tiger came out very vibrant!!#the spino model is by Flexi Factory and the tiger is by MatMireMakes#the hammerhead shark is one I found on the website Printables but I’m so sorry I do not remember who made it#I’ll have to check later and add the persons name to the sharks file so I don’t forget lol#I use that shark as a flush object for pretty much everything lol#3d printing#I love glow in the dark stuff. I gotta print some more glow stuff for my room

Day 4 + 5 - finished the pencil + watercolor pencil flats, and added a round of highlight colors. still wanna do something more interesting with that background, but gotta rest my hand + add a water layer to the pencils first.
#it's the opheliac in me#the crosshatched layers in the black are so random and ugly lmao#but the goal is that you won't see all the different pencil directions once i add the water layer#i probably could've have saved myself a lot of pain + effort by just painting it#but i really want the translucency of the pencils in this case

i got a bagel from dunkin today and they put about um a half of pound of cream cheese on it now this is not the first time this has happened to me (sheetz also does this) and like. IS THIS HOW THE AVERAGE AMERICAN EATS???? i thought they only lay it on thick in cream cheese commercials for dramatic effect are people fr enjoying sediment layers of cream cheese?? i refuse to believe this and yet it keeps happening to meee
