I've got to say, I've been doing a lot of research on Italy recently and I literally can't stop thinking about your boys. I'm over here trying to read about whatever Crusade and my brain is just a constant loop of "isn't Machete a cardinal? And Vasco was from like Verona, right?" Not super conducive to learning anything, but I am enjoying myself and thought you should know.
Thank you for your lovely art and for sharing your darlings <33
That's adorable ;^; But also sorry the lads keep distracting you, hah.
I'd argue that getting invested in your characters and their stories and having to do background research for them is actually a great way to accumulate knowledge about various subjects. Often it's stuff you probably would never get around to reading about otherwise. I'm not saying it's always information you'll have many practical uses for, but learning about new things is fun and it's beneficial to you and your brain in the long run.
Vasco is from Florence actually! It's usually considered to be the birthplace and the main hub of the entire Renaissance movement. Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli and Michelangelo lived and influenced there and Dante Alighieri (author of The Divine Comedy/Dante's Inferno) was florentine as well, albeit he lived several centuries prior to them.
Love the idea of Kae painstakingly learning Hilichurian, at first bc he figured it was another skill under his belt then bc talking with them made him curious abt them and their origin
My high school did a yearly poetry recitation contest (Poetry Out Loud), so Oh Boy do I know some poems. My favorites are Ozymandias and "the world is about to end and my grandparents are in love," by Kara Jackson. Also in 8th grade we had a Poe unit and had a class contest to make the best music video of the Raven, so I still know a good chunk of that.
i hadn't heard of the kara jackson one! just read through it and enjoyed it, particularly these lines > 'grandma returns to her love like a hymn, marks it with a color. // when the world ends will it suck the earth of all its love? /will i go taking somebody’s hand, / my skin becoming their skin?'
Via Miles’ insta a recap of his four acoustic gigs so far
Love how he actively approaches us fans and just generally seems to be having a blast not only performing but also talking with all of his fans. Also how he added the eyebrow slit and bracelets got added to his forearms, I don’t even wanna know how many turtle themed gifts he got 🫶🏽🥹 also imagine pulling up to footie training with boots signed by Miles Kane, also his ADHD leg jiggle before the last show 🐢💅🤴🏽
Awhile ago, I made a post about Apollo’s suit jacket, wondering where it was and indeed, if it even existed. I believe I also called Apollo a harlot for not wearing it. Anyway, like most posts on this blog, it was made in the spirit of jest and I didn’t really mean anything by or for it. However, it turns out… there’s an actual answer to that question.
In (at least some) of Spirit of Justice, it’s hanging over the back of the couch. I even examined in it during Turnabout Time Traveler, and Phoenix confirms it.
Now, this is actually weird, because in TTT, Apollo isn’t there. Apollo hasn’t been there for several months. Why is it still there? Why didn’t Apollo take it with him? Why didn’t anyone send it to him? Why hasn’t anyone even, at the least, hung it up? All good questions, and the game only asks one in return: why don’t you shut the fuck up?
it’s been a while since you all have gotten any Hero’s Call AU crumbs, hasn’t it? well then here since i love y’all much <3
notes + warnings:
it’s a little nasty. they are in a sewer and Spirit is dying :) it’s not terribly graphic imo, but i could see it grossing some people out. there’s an au-plot relevant reason for the sewer btw i didn’t just pull that out of nowhere im not that mean
eventually, comfort for this will be posted, but as of now it’s just hurt <3
this is for my own linkverse au, meaning pronouns and names are different than standard. Vio (they/she) is FSA’s violet Link, Traveler (they/he/it) is from LoZ 1 + 2 and the 1989 cartoon, and Spirit (she/her) is from Spirit Tracks.
There’s blood seeping out of Spirit’s leg, and it’s the first time in a while that Vio doesn’t know what to do. Obviously, the wound needs to cleaned, sewn shut, and dressed, but the cut is so long and ragged and deep that she might be dead by the time a quarter of the stitches are in. And even if she does somehow make it past the blood loss, the likelihood of her dying of an infection from getting stitches in the middle of an old sewer system is too high to even think about.
“Holy fuck, holy fuck,” Traveler says in a panic, sprinting past Vio to Spirit’s side. He helps her to the grimy ground, even rips off his cloak to set under her leg as a sort of towel. After an embarrassing amount of time, Vio finally moves to help prop her against the wall, and Traveler starts to clean the wound.
This is normally where they’d force feed her a potion. On any standard day they’d be desperately shoving it to her lips and tilting her head back. The tension would slip from their shoulders as her bleeding would slowly become more manageable, and death would no longer loom over her. They’d have to restrain her, of course; the kid’s always been particularly sensitive to the potion’s rancid meat flavoring (Vio holds the memory of Ages holding her arms and head back as Blue pries open her jaw to pour the liquid down her throat quite fondly, despite the fact that Spirit was actively dying then, as well.)
But they can’t do that. They don’t have the luxury of pulling her out of death’s grasp, not when their last red potion is on the floor, mixing with glass shards and sewage a few yards away. It was shattered by one of the Yiga clan members that had attacked them just moments prior, in the exact same battle that cleaved the poor girl’s thigh open.
Vio wants scoop the potion’s remnants up in her hands and force it onto Spirit’s tongue; she wants to drag their fingers through the grooves in the stone where the liquid life gathers, then shove those same fingers down her throat. She’d yank the girl over to the puddle by her fucking hair and force her to drink from it if it meant she’d live.
But it wouldn’t. It’s common knowledge that magic is a fickle thing, so fickle in fact that once a red potion is contaminated, it’s loses all potency, and what’s more contaminated than a potion full of glass, dirt, and sewage?
Traveler looks to Vio. They’re visibly exhausted from overextending their magic as they went through this dungeon, and the grim look in his eyes says that he’s intimately familiar with these kinds of situations and with how they often end. The tears that flood Spirit’s terrified eyes tell Vio that she is as well.
Well, at least she’s small. They might be able to give her loved ones a body.
I'm sick of the world's most terminally online people acting like they're too cool for the eclipse. Like seeing memes about how it's "a big week for people with no personality". Bro this is a super cool astrological event that most people don't get to experience and you're going to pretend that the people who are in awe of the universe are the boring ones? Sorry what should they care about? Arguing with strangers online about movies? Humble yourself.
"I'm not to be trusted in a book store with a credit card"
Photo of the front of Shakespeare and Co. Antiquarian Books. Shelves of colorful books in the windows flanking the door, a split Dutch door has more books visible inside the shop through the open top part and the bottom part has "trying God's patience" handwritten over the wood. Two benches flank the doorway and a curly haired person is bent over a book on the right bench, possibly writing.
When Kaeya is upset with someone he loves, truly upset and seriously hurt, he tends to storm off immediately. And completely vanish from their radars. Whether it's two hours or even days.
A trail of ice-laced footprints is all they'd have to track him immediately after the fact, but after a time, not even Mond's best could hope to find him if he doesn't want to be found.
...God the trick truly is to just not listen to that soundtrack at all for a few months at a time before listening to the whole thing in one go. Guaranteed religious experience by the time you hit "Finale ~ Dawn".
i will kill all idiots who think wildflower patches are like. Every Wild Beast Who I Hate Habitat. there are fleas and ticks in your lawn too. there are MORE TICKS in places with less mammals coming through (deer, squirrels, etc that the ticks can feed on instead of u) and insecticides/herbicides kill off beneficial insects so there’s more habitat for ticks to hang around. and if you aren’t attracting birds with seed or WILDFLOWERS THAT NATURALLY MAKE SEED FOR BIRDS then you will have MORE pests.
people are just so stupid instead of planting things to attract bugs and birds they WANT that will do bad insect management they just keep going down the line of killing everything and making uninhabitable space. but ig its “safer for kids” (your kids will just get sick from playing in roundup!!!) or you wont have to see a fucking garter snake. oh the horror. kids should be exposed to plants and animals and clearly ppl who think that a wilder lawn will just be fucking pest central didn’t play enough outside. and tbh im blaming YOU for my neighbor who removed the blackberry bush as soon as he moved in that neighborhood kids had been eating for years…
Something that confuses me (and alarms me a bit ngl) is the assumption I see everywhere that, once Mike moved to Seattle, he just stopped talking to Harvey. I wasn’t saying anything because there had been no confirmation either way (although why Mike would do something like that, or why Harvey would keep calling if he had, I wouldn’t know, so I just assumed he didn’t), but now I’ve watched If The Shoe Fits and there’s confirmation that they were still talking (with what had sadly become Suits-typical disregard for canon -in this case, Mike being confused about the Paula thing when he was actually in NY for it- notwithstanding. We could always assume Harvey didn’t tell him all that went down back then and now he did), so...?
