#this series and i have. a complicated relationship #like. i love it. genuinely one of the most impactful things in my life for several years #but i also worry whether i like the potential it used to have more #and it’s so shrouded in nostalgia that i miss the way i used to feel about it #basically it’s so intertwined with an entire chunk of my life that i can’t separate or objectively assess my feelings about it #i’ve spent a decade thinking about what it could be or could have been. what it actually is doesn’t always feel real #kotlc #keeper of the lost cities

First photo is the dark-headed purple BS pied WE male, second two are the same normal purple BS pied WE male. Polaris also had a dark head like that when he was little, so I'm thinking that one is gonna turn out almost exactly like his daddy.

Tempted to grow him out a little and see how he gets on with the hens. Polaris hasn't been particularly great - he's a bit of a dick to some of them, not like aggressive but not very polite either - and I do wonder if his son would be any better.

#this is less impressive than it sounds given that daemon's pov comprises 60% of the chapter...#we're past 8600 words now and i keep wondering if this is the chapter that goes OVER 9000???#(i sort of doubt it; the jon pov added 200 words but it was missing a necessary chunk that i figured out in edits)#(but who knows maybe daemon has even more to add when i reach the end again)

#:)#this afternoon i sat down and read through in one chunk chronologically the story from the last time i regularly followed upd8s until now #and holy shit. holy shit this thing rules even more than i already liked it??? like they're actually doing really Interesting choices #what's cool is the way that this thing very much is juxtaposed with pickle route in a number of ways #and looking at the meat bits i missed there is so much i wanna say about omelette route act 3 that i can't for a hot minute #but like. for real where's the news and media beyond canon is massive #it'll never be hs^2 because nothing will be but i genuinely and sincerely say it's on a par with godfeels #hsbc has earned its place among peers such as godfeels and through shadowed eyes (and also hopefully omelette route one day...)#btw as an aside anyone else out there doing postcanon hs^2 response/parallel-esque works. it is very important i know about them

I’m missing some lore. What happened between Connor McDavid and Dylan Strome?

honestly. what didn't happen between them uhhhh

they grew up together. playing in the same leagues and stuff and they both ended up playing on the erie otters together and were just incredibly close throughout the whole time they played juniors. great friends great teammates you feel me. thanked each other for their success and all that. really just inseparable. and then they get drafted and connor goes first and he stands in the wings so he can stay and watch dylan get drafted. and then it's kind of story for the ages i guess.

they both were stars on the erie otters but once they actually started playing in the nhl connor gets named captain of the oilers pretty much immediately. dylan kind of struggled to stay called up and played back and forth a bit his first year with the coyotes (rip). he then went and played in chicago a bit before going to washington and really finding his place there.

as for what happened between them friendship wise nobody really knows i guess. obviously. kind of seemed like they just drifted but maybe something happened idk?? but there was an article or something that said connor didn't go to dylan's wedding and from what i've seen dylan didn't go to connor's either. so it's like did something happen or did they just drift?

and then only really this year did they start to seem to acknowledge one another again. and by that i mean dylan liked some tweets about goals connor's scored and talking a little bit to the media about him. and when the otters announced that they were going to retire connor's jersey dylan posted the video on his story and captioned it like "97" or something and then obviously the most recent tower that's been hit is that dylan sent in a video for the actual ceremony that happened in erie today. and just especially how dylan has gone about the whole thing recently and saying very nice things about connor and being super supportive and connor just kind of...isn't doing the same (at least publicly!!!)

it's just interesting kind of seeing how they grew up together and played together and were often spoken about in the same sentence and how they both ended up on two very different paths in the same career

so it's all just very important to people who are not normal about the 2015 draft class (me)

tbh ive never thought about it before but when i think about it, i sorta wish i had read the manga before watching the anime 😵

#for some reason a lot of people on like reddit credit the anime for being super accurate to the manga but its really not true #at least in my opinion #manga saiki has so much personality and the anime took away a good chunk of it and made him more of a boring character IN MY OPINION #so yea ig i recommend reading it first so then youll know what hes supposed to be like when you watch the anime #the anime is still really good but it just missed the mark on a lot of saikis charms

Sooooooooo messed up that Xanthos was a father at some point. I keep thinking about his sons 💔 idk how much I want to develop them as characters but I do think being a parent (and later a grandparent) impacted the way Xan interacts with the world ..... I also think he misses them dearly 😔

My high school did a yearly poetry recitation contest (Poetry Out Loud), so Oh Boy do I know some poems. My favorites are Ozymandias and "the world is about to end and my grandparents are in love," by Kara Jackson. Also in 8th grade we had a Poe unit and had a class contest to make the best music video of the Raven, so I still know a good chunk of that.

i hadn't heard of the kara jackson one! just read through it and enjoyed it, particularly these lines > 'grandma returns to her love like a hymn, marks it with a color. // when the world ends will it suck the earth of all its love? /will i go taking somebody’s hand, / my skin becoming their skin?'
