The painting on my header is one of my favorite paintings of alll TIMEEE.
Tumblr media
It was painted by no other than the wonderful and incredibly talented! Vincent Van Gogh!
I had the honour and amazing opportunity to go to his museum in Amsterdam, Países Bajos? Holland? and see this painting in flesh along with my wonderful mom! TRULY a masterpiece.
It has the name of tree roots! But in my head I call it “El manglar” mangroves in Spanish. It is said this was probably one or actually the last painting he brought to life before he passed away.

When I saw it, it immediately brought me back to my homeland, I identified the subject of this painting as Mangrooves!
I saw this roots twisted over one another along with the beige/lightbrownish colour in the backround and my mind compared it with the mangroves we have In Guayaquil, Ecuador ! Which one will always see whenever they pass near any Estero salado, which are like rivers but instead of sweet water this one is salty, like the ocean! Salado is salty in Spanish.

Now clearly it is quite obvious It was no mangroves what he painted, I don’t think there are mangroves on Holland… I think… Idk please feel free to correct me. But I truly believe in my heart those where a manglar. It was quite funny that the guide told us people struggled to see tree roots, I found myself quite proud for seeing it although it wasn’t the same type of forest.

Now mister Vincent left quite the open interpretation for this work. When it was acquired by the museum it was not really known what was what Van gogh painted, there was no indication of what its content was which brought the problem on which way was the correct way to hang it. The tour mentioned that by many many years this painting in the museum was actually put upside down! Can you imagine!!?? The VAN GOGH MUSEUM HAHA put it in the wrong way! It was not until someone mentioned the possibility of it being tree roots that they realized they messed up and they put it on the other side!
Quite funny isn’t it? Just listening all of that made me even appreciate the painting even more. For me it didn’t had ONE WAY to be. It could be any tree roots of any forest, be hung either way and it will still be a masterpiece. It does not need to be identified as one thing, one place or in one way! Its quite rebellious I might even say HAHA and I love it for it!
Tumblr media
Obviously I got the postcard of this painting and even hung it in another way in my wall! He he I aint no museum so I get the say on how to exhibit it! I didn’t even thought about it, but for me it felt the correct way to put it.

This painting is such a beauty, I see myself so much on it, I even consider it as a portrait, for its rebellious nature. It impresses me how much Vincent was able to give such life and Personality to his works! He was truly gifted!
