You all sat around the cramped table of the bunker, eating and talking. You were helping Howzer clean up and ease the aches of his bruises with some measly cloths soaked in water. Gregor was causing a ruckus with Wrecker and Omega at one end of the table while Hunter, Echo, and Rex were deep in conversation about recent events. Tech was working on some spare parts that he plans to add to the speeder.
“Is that alright?” You asked, applying light pressure against the bruises on his knuckles. He nodded, eyes wavering as the others talked. There was a swelling thought in his pupils, but you didn’t want to break any boundaries. You could hardly imagine what the Empire had done to him. You and Hunter were lucky enough to just be kept in cells after getting captured. They must’ve inflicted punishments for Howzer’s action of going against orders. You looked up at him, forgetting about his tainted knuckles. You had noticed the small scar against his head and hummed.
“Rex told you about the chips then?”
Howzer nodded, stoic and silent. That must have been what was bothering him the most. From what little time you spent with Howzer, you noticed how resilient and loyal he was. However, you knew he had different morals that went against what the Empire--even the Republic--stood for. You placed the damp cloths in the small bowl next to you and grabbed it.
“Try to eat a bit more.” You insisted softly before heading to the refresher. You wrung out the cloths and hung them to dry, then went back to join the others.
“Lodestar used to stay here with a bounty hunter!” Omega explained to Gregor, which caused Rex to furrow his brows.
“Is that true?”
You nodded, “I had to do some work with the guild after I left… just to get some credits.”
He hummed, sipping his drink. Omega looked over to you, “Why can’t we just hideout here? Forget Ord Mantell! Staying here would be great!”
You shook your head, “We can’t do that, Meg.”
“Why not? You know this place well, the people know you. We can just live here.”
“We need credits, Omega-” Hunter started.
“Lodestar said she gets credits from the town when she sells them the game she hunts.”
“It doesn’t pay a lot, Meg.” You explained.
“Then maybe we can look deeper in the forest, find some bigger animals.”
“Omega, this town doesn’t rely too much on credit sometimes. The people here don’t have a lot to begin with.” You insisted.
“There must be other towns then.” She urged.
“The next town is nearly on the other side of the planet.”
“We’ll use the Marauder.”
Tech spoke up, “I’ve concluded that our ship is a bit too recognizable now.”
“We use it all the time when we do jobs for Cid, what’s the difference?” Omega asked, “Maybe we can find jobs without Cid, or maybe join the bounty hunters!”
“Omega, that’s enough.” You said sternly.
“But why? Why can’t we try something else?”
“We aren’t going to affiliate ourselves with the guild.”
“You’re already affiliated with them!”
“Omega-”
“Like you said: you took jobs that didn’t involve killing anyone.”
“Please, Meg-”
“We could do that-”
“Omega, stop it!” You snapped, causing a pregnant silence. Omega looked at you with confliction and you sighed, “I… I wish we could give you a normal life. Live like Cut and Suu do… but we can’t, Omega. Being in the guild doesn’t guarantee our safety. As a bounty hunter, you do things for money, not morals. People did things for the Republic and for the separatists. I’m sure now bounty hunters are willing to do jobs for the Empire since the Republic is gone… We do things for Cid because she can keep secrets. The Guild doesn’t care about secrets unless you can profit from it.” You looked back at her, “Cid is our best option. We can’t stay here.”
“You’re just saying that.” Omega huffed.
“I’m saying it because it’s true. It’s not what I want, Omega! It’s what keeps us safe!”
“Then you can go off and do that with whoever wants to join you! Take the Marauder if you have to, that’ll be safer, right?”
You shook your head, “Lets… let's just get some rest.” You gathered the empty plates and bowls then put them in the sink, “We can talk more in the morning.”
“You’re just scared.” Omega scowled.
“Yes, I’m scared!” You tossed the dishes down into the sink, causing some to break, “And I have good reason to be! I don’t ever want you to know what life is with the guild. What it’s like taking another life! Watching people die!” You gasped on your breath before gathering yourself again, “There are no guarantees out here, Omega. It’s just one decision after another, you don’t always get what you want. Before this, we had the war… Every person here can tell you that it was just the same. And that life you want? It may never be real. Now get some rest.”
Omega turned away, “I hate you.”
Everyone was taken back by her response. Hunter was about to say something, but you spoke up.
“Fine. You can hate me all you want, but that won’t stop me or you from getting on that ship and heading back to Ord Mantell when the time comes.”
Silence filled the bunker again as you walked out and Omega tucked herself into bed. Hunter tried to follow you, but Rex stopped him and gestured to Omega. The Sergeant nodded and sat on the bed while the Captain exited the bunker.
*******
You walked past the holo shield, tears streaming down your face. There was only one place you wanted to be at that moment. You made your way through the vegetation of the forest and walked a bit longer until you reached a large tree then fell to your knees in front of it. You sat there silently, not bothering to turn when rustling came closer. Rex stepped into the small clearing to see you at the base of the tree. He came closer and another thing came into view. It was a stick holding up an old helmet, causing images to flash in his mind. He crouched next to you and placed a hand on your shoulder.
“Was this the bounty hunter you were staying with?”
You nodded weakly, fixing the flowers that were laid out against the makeshift grave. Rex looked around in the dim light of the lantern he brought with him and saw two other makeshift graves under the trees nearby.
“His wife and daughter…” You whispered, “They all lived here together. They died a month before he met me. I guess I provided the company he missed…”
Rex nodded gently before speaking, “Just give it some time… Omega isn’t like her brothers…”
“I know.” You whispered.
You both took a moment before Rex stood and held out his hand for you to grab it. You smiled graciously before taking it and standing up.
“Thanks, Captain.”
He nodded before you both headed back to the bunker.
*******
The next day, you were getting ready to go hunting with Rex, Wrecker, and Hunter. You sheathed your knife and picked up the small bag with bait and tools for traps. Howzer, Echo, and Gregor were going to work on the speeder a bit more while Tech and Omega were going to figure out what was wrong with AZI.
“We’ll try to be back in an hour.” Hunter announced before walking out with Rex. You looked back at Omega, who was focused on AZI. Wrecker nudged you gently which urged you to walk out before him. You walked deeper into the forest with them, thinking quietly.
“Ad’ika?” Wrecker called, which made you look up. The others were looking at you expectantly.
“Sorry, did you say something?”
“You know these woods better than us, is there a good place we can start the hunt?”
You looked around for a moment before nodding, “Let’s go this way.”
You all walked for another half hour or so before stopping at a certain spot. Everyone started to set up and wait for anything to pass by. You were helping Hunter set a trap while Rex and Wrecker set up a good hiding place for you all. You all laid on your stomachs and watched through the bushes while waiting.
“How long is this gonna take?” Wrecker groaned which caused you to smile.
“Wanna go out there as bait?” You offered, which caused Rex and Hunter to chuckle.
You all waited until there was some rustling nearby. It was in the trap you had set up with Hunter. You both looked at each other before nodding, then Hunter got up quietly while making his way towards the trap. A small squeak resonated before it went quiet and Hunter came back into view with the dead creature in his hands. He placed it into the sack before laying back down with the rest of you. It was another hour that passed and Wrecker was starting to doze off while you all waited. In that time, a few more traps were set and some more small creatures were caught. From the position of the sun, you knew that the bigger animals were going to get closer to this area. Rex was generous enough to go back to the bunker to get some lunch, so it was just you, Hunter, and Wrecker. Suddenly, Hunter’s vambrace clicked and he answered.
“Hunter, Tech needs you back here for a sec. Something about the Marauder.” Rex disclosed.
“Alright, be there soon.” He responded before cutting out.
“We’ll be good here. Take all the time you need.” You affirmed.
He nodded and looked at Wrecker who gave him a small nod. He then got up and headed back to the bunker, leaving you and Wrecker alone. You two were laying in your hiding places in silence, still waiting for any animals to pass by. Wrecker groaned and turned onto his back, looking at the canopy of the trees.
“Sorry, love.” You laughed sheepishly.
“It’s alright, ad’ika. I told Hunter I wanted to get good at this.” He sighed.
“You’ve gotten pretty far, to be honest. I’ve never really seen you so patient, unless it had to do with any detonators.”
Wrecker couldn’t help but laugh and turn his head to you, “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
You nodded before laying your head against your folded arms, “It’s nice to have some time to ourselves…”
He hummed before moving to lay himself on top of you, which took you by surprise. You let out a small gasp as he wrapped one arm around you and used the other to hold himself up so not all his weight was on you. He dug his head into your neck to kiss and suck on the skin.
“Wreck-”
“Sh… we don’t want to scare the animals…” He muttered, moved your hair away, and bit at your shoulder.
You let out a small whimper as he propped himself onto his knees and started to move his hands down to your waist. He moved your pants and underwear down your ass before grabbing the soft flesh to squeeze it in his hands.
“Kriff, ‘s been so long, ad’ika…”
“I know, Wreck.” You whispered.
He brought two of his fingers to his mouth before sucking them and lubing them up with his saliva, then teased your slit before sinking them into you, which caused you to cry out. He took his other hand to cover your mouth and brought his lips to your ear.
“Sh… you have to be quiet, ad’ika.” He chuckled, “Be quiet for me…”
You nodded, which led him to move his hand away and place it back on your waist as he moved his fingers gently.
“I could never forget how tight you are, ad’ika…” He muttered, admiring his now glistening digits, “Can’t wait to feel you around my cock again.”
You held in your whimpers and moans as he continued to finger you before pulling them out. He then moved his hands towards your mouth.
“Be a good girl, ad’ika.” He ordered, which caused you to open your mouth so you could suck his fingers clean. You whimpered and gagged on them as he moved his own pants down and pumped his cock. He spit on his hand and spread it along his shaft before teasing your entrance.
“You ready, baby?” He checked in on you, which made you nodded rapidly while gasping when he pulled his fingers out of your mouth.
He held himself up on his knees and gripped your waist to raise your cunt higher, then sank his cock into you. You let out a strangled cry as he stretched you out.
“Been so long, ad’ika..” He grunted, relishing the nearly suffocating feeling of your cunt around him, “You can still take all of me, I know it.”
*******
You walked back to the bunker with Wrecker, who had a large animal over his shoulders while you carried the sack of smaller animals. Hunter had just exited the bunker as you both approached.
“Wow, looks like you scored big.” He remarked, patting the large creature’s hide.
“You could say that.” You shrugged while glancing at Wrecker, who hadn’t stopped smiling since you left the hunting site. All of you made your way into the bunker after leaving what you hunted outside to skin later. Everyone was busying themselves with different things while you went into the refresher. You stood at the sink, looking at yourself in the mirror. You could still feel Wrecker’s release dripping out of you, which made your stomach flutter in nervousness and excitement. None of the other boys knew about your implant… and you didn’t have the heart to tell them. Now you were relying on empty prayers--you cursed yourself for being so reckless. You sighed and washed your face in cold water before leaving the ‘fresher to join everyone else.

You sat on the floor of the bunker, AZI laid across your lap as you worked on a panel of circuits. Tech sat next to you, handing you tools back and forth. He talked and babbled on about how some of his gears and inner workings were corroded from the ocean water on Kamino.
“I’ve already tried what you’re doing, darling.” Tech went on as he watched your hands maneuver around the wires.
You huffed and nodded, placing the tools beside you, “I just don’t know what’s wrong… physically: internally and externally he seems fine. He should be working by now.” You looked over at Tech who pushed up his goggles while looking over a datapad.
“I’m still crunching some numbers and have been running multiple diagnostics. He’ll be up and running in no time.”
“No time seems to be taking its time.” You scoffed before setting AZI aside and standing with Tech’s help, “I just don’t get it, his system is meant to be water resistant…”
“We’ll figure it out… and who knows,” He lowered his voice, “Maybe he’ll get us a good amount of credits.”
You gasped, “Tech!”
“It’s just a theory!” He pipped as you hit his arm gently.
“Well, we have to put that theory to rest. We’re not giving up on that droid, he’s one of us now.” You laughed as the two of you walked out of the bunker, “Did Hunter say when he and the captains will be back?”
“Not precisely, they wanted to try and go to the next town over to see if they have any supplies that will suffice for Rex’s journey along with ours.”
“Maybe I should’ve gone along.”
“They'll be alright.” He reassured you as he walked towards the ship.
“More repairs?” You wondered.
“No, just some modifications. The usual.” He shrugged, “Echo said that he, Omega, and Wrecker will be in town most of the day. They took D-5 with them.”
“Just us then?” You smiled while following up the steps of the Marauder.
He nodded, “Just us.” He then turned to you as you looked around.
“Huh… it’s been only a few days, but it feels like ages since I’ve stepped onto this ship.”
He nodded while walking towards the controls and crouching down to set the box of tools he was holding under it. You watched him quietly, taking a seat in one of the chairs as he fondled with one of the tools.
“Don’t you get tired of having to work on those circuits over and over again?”
“No, why would I?”
You shrugged, “I don’t know, it seems like you’ve modified this ship so much, I’m surprised you can still add some more.”
“There is always room for improvement, my darling.” He remarked while glancing over at you.
You let out a small hum before leaving the cockpit and into the main compartment where it was bare but still messy as always. You smiled gently while picking up Hunter’s helmet and looking into the visor. Tech’s reflection showed up behind yours which made you turn to look at him after setting down the helmet.
“What is it?” You whispered as you wrapped your arms around his neck, noticing the slight furrow in his brow. You played with the hair on the back of his head and laughed gently, “Your hair is getting longer… starting to curl again.”
He said nothing while looking at you, raising his hand up to your face, and caressing your cheek, “I’m sorry… about what I said at Cid’s…”
You shook your head, “It’s okay. Don’t worry about it.”
He sighed, leaned his forehead against yours, and shut his eyes before speaking, “How can I make it up to you?”
You brought him closer before connecting your lips together. He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you flush to his chest as the kiss deepened. The both of you stayed in your place for a moment after pulling away to catch your breaths. You then grabbed the fabric of his shirt and pulled him with you before your back hit the durasteel wall near you. He pulled your shirt up your torso and over your head, tossing it away as you pulled your pants down along with your underwear. Tech then kneeled down and hooked one of your legs over his shoulder, his hot breath making contact with your wet pussy. You watched as he looked up at you while connecting his lips to the sensitive skin and you placed a hand on his cheek to caress it. He then shut his eyes while moving his tongue intricately against your labias. You bit back a gasp while moving your hands into his hair and bringing his face closer. He let out a moan as his tongue flicked at your clit, which made you whimper before he started to suck desperately. You then let out a cry and shut your eyes tight, tugging his hair. Tech brought your other leg over his shoulder and dug himself deeper into your cunt. He maneuvered his arm so it was around your thigh and his hand found your clit. He pinched and rubbed it meticulously while sticking his tongue into you and lapping you up. A strangled sob escaped your lips as you felt your stomach knot.
“Tech!”
He hummed, looking up at you with a teasing glint in his eyes. You let out a breathless laugh as you glanced down at him, but whimpered as you felt your orgasm coming along. Before you could reach your high, he pulled away, which made you groan. You looked at him with knitted brows as he smiled gently and moved your legs off his shoulders before standing up. He tugged off his shirt then pushed down his pants to expose his hard cock, which made you bite your lip as you admired it, but he hooked your chin to raise your head so you could look at him. You smiled as he leaned in before kissing him, tasting your slick on his lips. He pulled away before leading you as he walked backwards into the chair of one of the computers. You straddled him, lowering yourself against him, his cock just between your folds. He placed his hands on your hips before moving them so you would be rubbing against the shaft of his hard dick. His breath hitched slightly while you leaned into him, your noses touching as both of your mouths hung slack. Once the both of you felt that the foreplay was just enough, Tech grabbed his cock and positioned it at your hole before pushing your hips down. You whimpered as he filled you slowly.
“Kriff…” He muttered, relishing the warmth of your walls.
You dug your head into his neck while raising your hips and bringing them back down against his lap. He moaned, involuntarily raising his own hips which made you whimper. The two of you were riddled with moans and cries as your bodies intertwined with each other. Tech usually likes finding control in many things, but this time it was just flurries of passion that led your actions and neither of you cared who was taking the lead. You and Tech managed to make your way through the ship and into the gunner’s mount, where there was room for you to lay down. A blanket was covering the transparisteel that usually exposed the mount, which gave the two of you the privacy you needed in the moment. Tech was on top of you, holding himself up with his forearms as he thrusted steadily into you. Nothing else had been said since the two of you were so caught up in each other’s heat. Your noses touched gently as your breaths merged together, causing a delay in your moans. You cupped Tech’s face, brought his mouth to yours, and kissed him hungrily. He grunted into your mouth, moving one of his hands to hold the back of your thigh and push it down so he could thrust into you harder. You couldn’t help the small sobs and cries that escaped your lips as the tip of his cock brushed against your most sensitive spot.
“Kriff!” You mewled, feeling the knot in your stomach start to form again.
“I know, darling, I feel it.” He panted, holding both your legs down while moving upright, “Let go when you need to, my love. I’m right here.”
You screwed your eyes shut and cried out as you were pushed over the edge. It was sudden and merciless as you started to gush around him, which caused Tech to release himself also. You could feel the hot spurts of his cum filling you to the brim and you relished in it as the two of you came down from your highs. Pants filled the Marauder, causing them to echo slightly due to the emptiness. Tech lowered himself down to you again and kissed you sweetly.
*******
You laid on one of the beds in the bunker, looking at a small map of the planet with a handheld holoprojector. You zoomed into where Hunter and the captains should be. It was an old map, so you weren’t fully sure if any other settlements had developed around the neighboring town. A familiar booming voice approached the bunker and you turned to see Wrecker with Omega on his shoulder while Echo followed behind them.
“Where’s Tech?” Echo wondered as he set a burlap sack down.
You gestured to the refresher which made the pale clone nod. He then went up to you and moved the holoprojector from your hold before leaning in to kiss you. You welcomed it with a small laugh.
“Didn’t have too hard of a time in town, did you?”
He shook his head while settling down on the bed next to you, “No, everything went smoothly. Got a good amount of credits from the meat we sold. Huran sends her thanks.”
You nod looking at Omega who crouched down to look at AZI. Tech exited the refresher, wearing his dark baggy pants and no shirt as he dried off his hair.
“Any progress, Tech?” Omega wondered as she turned to him.
“Lodestar and I both tried, still nothing. I’ve run a few diagnostics, but it’ll take some time.” He explained while cupping your face and kissing your forehead endearingly. You hum before heading towards the computer and starting to connect your vambrace.
“I’m gonna comm Hunter, see how they’re doing.”
“It’s best you leave it. I’m sure they’re trying to lay low.” Echo insisted.
You hesitated before nodding and heading towards a cupboard next to the sink. You pulled out some dehydrated food to prepare for dinner, knowing well that Hunter and the Captains won’t be back tonight.
As everyone ate, you looked over Tech’s holopad, scanning AZI a multitude of times to try and find something you can fix so he’s at least online. You all were fortunate enough to not be injured to the point where AZI would need to provide assistance. You sighed and placed the datapad down in defeat before getting up and heading towards the closed hatch.
“Where are you going, ad’ika?” Wrecker wondered.
You shrugged, “I’m just gonna get some air is all. Don’t worry.”
You shut the door behind you carefully and walked through the long corridor before stepping out into the clearing. The air was warm and slightly heavy. You shut your eyes for a moment to hear the sound of the nature around you. You always relished the quiet, it comforted you after the war ended. Well, the Clone Wars at least… you had a feeling a different type of battle is at verge. You heard approaching footsteps and turned to see Echo exiting the corridor.
“You alright, mesh’la?” He wondered while setting a gentle hand on your shoulder.
“Yeah.” You smiled weakly, “I’m fine.”
He let out a hum while looking down at you, then took his place in front of you. He raised his hand to cup your face and make you look at him. You sank into the softness of his hand while shutting your eyes; to no surprise, Echo couldn’t help the small smile that reached his lips as he looked at you. He leaned his forehead into your as he gave you a keldabe kiss.
“My beautiful girl…” He murmured.
You raised your hands to cup his face and kissed him gently. Time passed slowly around you as you both relished each other’s touch, but it was interrupted when there was a sudden explosion, causing the ground under you to shake slightly. You almost lost your balance, but Echo caught you and the both of you looked to where the explosion was. Wrecker, Tech, and Omega exited the bunker with fear in their eyes.
“What was that?” Omega rushed to you. You went to a small patch in the ground and dug it up to reveal a small panel. You pulled a lever and the holoshield shut down before a dark canopy shot through the trees.
“Get inside, quickly!” You urged Omega and the others before shutting the door behind you. You all made it back into the bunker and it was pitch black.
“Why did you shut the power down?” Omega asked.
“The holoshield isn’t always reliable… especially when there's a sudden surge like that. Whatever that explosion was, it could have exposed us.” You explained while turning on a few lanterns.
“Can we try comming Hunter?” Wrecker wondered.
Tech shook his head while scrolling through his holopad, “Connection is scrambled.”
“It’s best they stay away… we don’t know what’s out there…” Echo explained.
“Shouldn’t we check it out?” Omega wondered.
“Let’s wait a bit, then we’ll go.” You suggested.

Passing the Time
Pairing: The Bad Batch x Reader (Polyam)
Summary: You and Hunter stay in town to meet up with Rex
Warning: SMUT, 18+ mdni, pinv, cunnilingus

You woke up to see Hunter placing his knife into a strap on his boot. You sat up, moving Omega’s head off your chest gently.
“Should’ve woken me up…” You whispered, heading towards the trunk of clothes.
“I didn’t have the heart.” He murmured, placing his hands onto your waist as you stood with the outfit you were going to wear today. You shook your head before moving to change.
“We’ll just stay in town today, then?”
“It’s best. Rex didn’t say when he’ll arrive.”
You nodded as you adjusted your clothes. Hunter’s finger hooked your chin and you looked up at him. He admired you for a moment while he took his other hand to caress your cheek gently. You both stayed there for a minute or so before you sighed and looked down.
“We should head into town…”
He nodded and you both walked out quietly as the others slept. You made your way towards town, hardly talking. There was no need for words. You walked ahead of him, which gave him the chance to admire you and relish the alone time you have. You walked along a log and looked back at him with a smile. He returned it, but then noticed you were running out of log. He caught your hand as you misstepped with a small gasp and grasped your waist. You let out a small laugh as you looked up at him with a sheepish grin.
“Sorry…”
He shook his head with a chuckle before leading you out of the forest, still holding your hand. You both reached the town and went to the small cantina to wait for Rex. You nodded to the waitress as she served you both your drinks. Similar to Cid’s, this cantina was bare. Barely anyone came in, it was basically a ghost town. Of course, it was the perfect place to hide out, so you had no worries about Rex coming here to join you all. You sipped your drink, glancing at Hunter as he fiddled with the empty cup in his hand while looking out the doorway you two were sitting near. You followed his gaze and saw two children playing around with a loth cat. There was a man and a woman nearby, smiling and laughing as they watched them, who must’ve been their parents. You looked back at him and kicked his shin lightly. He looked over at you with knitted brows.
“What?”
“You better not be thinking about what I think you are…”
He shook his head, looking down at his empty cup, “No… no. Just…”
“I mean,” you looked back at the kids, “You can think about it, but don’t think about acting on it.”
He chuckled, “Yeah, I know… I know…”
You placed your cup down and slumped against the table as your arms held you up, “It’s a nice thought…” You whispered, “And ever since I got with you and the boys, I always thought of having that with you after the war…”
He was shocked by that statement and turned his full attention towards you.
“I would think about us going somewhere… away from Kamino… live like Cut and Suu.” You explained, swirling the remaining liquid in your cup, “You could teach the kids to hunt, Wrecker would help with farming or something, Tech could make us all these things so we wouldn’t have to rely on the Republic, Echo could finally get a break, and Crosshair…” You stopped as he flashed through your mind. You had never fully experienced Crosshair in a domestic setting… it was a foreign thought. He was always a soldier in your mind. You didn’t truly know what he’d do after the war. Or if he’d get through it…
“Cyare…” Hunter called for your attention and you looked at him.
“Sorry.” You whispered, “I’m just saying… I want it bad, but there has never been a right time. I don’t think there will ever be a right time.”
Hunter grasped your hand and gave you a reassuring look. You both finished your drinks and decided to walk through town. You were greeted by multiple people as you walked along the road. Hunter had his hand on the small of your back as you walked with him. He nodded his head respectfully to greet the others watching the two of you. Suddenly, your communicator went off and you pulled it out, looking at Hunter. He led you into a small alleyway and you activated the device. Rex’s hologram popped up.
“Sorry, Lodestar. Met a small bump. Be there in half a rotation… hopefully.”
“That’s alright, Captain. We’ll be here.” You responded before the comm went dead. You looked at Hunter who sighed.
“Let’s head back to the bunker then…”
You shook your head, “It’s no use going back and forth… it already takes us so long getting from the bunker to here…” You grabbed his hand, “C’mon.”
The two of you walked back out onto the road and you led him to a small inn. There was an older female Pantoran at the counter, flipping through a small book. She heard the small bell on the door ring and looked up with excitement, but then it fell when she saw you.
“Hello, girl.”
“Hello, Huran.” You smiled, “How’s business.”
“Note the look on my face.” She huffed, grabbing a key for you, “Staying long?”
“Probably just for the night, that’s all.”
“Going hunting soon?” She asked while writing something down.
“Yes. As always, first dibs for you.”
“Good. Under the name “Ky’ari” again?”
“Yes.”
“Alright, enjoy.” She shut her book and smiled slyly, “Don’t be too loud.”
You knitted your brows and shook your head before leading Hunter up the old clay stairs. He chuckled as you arrived at the room.
“That name…’Ky’ari’? Isn’t that the name of that girl at 79’s?”
You shrugged while taking off your poncho and hanging it on a small rack.
“I’ll comm the others, make sure they know we won’t be home tonight.” He announced before pulling out his comm device. You nodded before heading to the small kitchenette to get a glass of water. Hunter talked with Echo for a moment before hanging up and heading towards you.
“Echo has everything covered and he said the speeder is almost ready to use.”
“Great, I’m getting tired of walking back and forth.” You groaned tiredly, letting Hunter grab the glass and gulp the rest of the water down. He placed the cup behind you and kept you trapped between him and the counter, his arms on either side of you.
“What did she mean: ‘don’t be too loud’?” He wondered.
“She always made that joke whenever Bronco and I would stay in town after doing a meat and fish delivery.” You shrugged, “She doesn’t ask too many questions.”
He nodded, looking over your features quietly. You returned the gaze before he spoke up.
“We don’t have to be too loud.” He murmured.
You pushed him away lightly with a small laugh and headed towards the bed, “Very funny.”
He stood in the kitchenette for a moment before meeting you on the bed, “There’s nothing much to do here… we have to pass the time somehow.”
You hummed, looking out the window and seeing the sun start to set. Hunter cupped your face and turned it to look at him.
“I’m sorry… I don’t mean to push…”
“It’s alright.” You whispered, caressing his tattooed cheek gently. He took a moment before connecting his lips with yours and lifting you up into his lap. He moved to your neck and muttered in mando’a against your skin, lifting your shirt up your torso. You moved the bandana from his head and gripped his hair gently as he ravished your skin. Hunter started to get impatient with your shirt so the sound of tearing filled the room, followed by your gasp.
“Hunter!”
“Sorry.” He muttered, not so sincerely. He tossed you onto the bed, your head hitting the pillows. He continued to discard your clothes meticulously before starting to take off his own. You grabbed the back off his neck to kiss him roughly then he moved down to place himself between your legs. He pulled away from your lips and looked into your eyes deeply.
“You alright, cyare?”
“Yeah,” You panted, “You?”
He nodded before hooking your legs with his arms before he placed them on his shoulders and dipped his head into your cunt. You couldn’t help the yelp that escaped your lips as his mouth found your clit. You continued to whimper as he ate you out desperately. His thumb started to massage your clit as his tongue entered your opening and he stared up at you as you writhed under him. He started to sense your rising orgasm, so he pulled away before you could reach it, which caused some protest from you. He couldn’t help but chuckle as he pumped his cock while looking into your pleading eyes.
“Tell me what you want, my love.” He ordered quietly.
“I want you.”
“How do you want me?”
“I want you deep inside of me…” You whimpered, getting needier as you looked up at him. He didn’t bother to respond before he moved you to find a good position.
“You want me inside you?”
“Yes, please.”
He teased your opening with the tip of his cock before moving to slide in slowly. You threw your head back in ecstasy before he lowered himself against your body and buried his head into the crook of your neck. You both were so caught up with what was happening, no one bothered to say anything. Only your moans and groans filled the room. From the lobby downstairs, Huran shook her head with a smirk as the creaking of the old bed resonated through the floor. She pet the loth cat sleeping on the counter next to her, going back to the words in her book.
*******
The both of you woke up the next morning to one of your communicators starting to go off. Hunter moved to reach for it as you groaned lightly and sat up. Rex’s hologram popped up.
“I’m in the town now, where do you want to meet?”
“There’s an inn near the south end of the town, wait near there. Lodestar and I will meet you there.” Hunter explained.
“Copy.” Rex responded before cutting out. Hunter turned to kiss your head before whispering.
“Rex is here… we have to go.”
You nodded before getting out of bed and putting the rest of your clothes on as he did the same. The two of you made it down through the lobby and saw Rex in a hooded poncho talking to two other people in hoods. You glanced at Hunter cautiously before getting closer. Rex looked over the others’ shoulders and gave you both a small smile.
“Sergeant.”
“Captain.”
Rex looked at you and sighed, “Lodestar.”
You hugged him gently, “Rex.”
The rest of you looked at the other two with him. Gregor moved his hood and gave a small chuckle.
“Nice to see you again.”
Hunter nodded and then the other moved their hood.
“Howzer?” You asked.
“Ma’am.” He gave you a curt nod. There were some fading bruises on his face which caused you to furrow your brows.
“C’mon. Let’s get you all to the-”
Revving of an engine came closer and you turned to see Tech and Echo in the speeder with cheeky smiles.
“Thought you’d fancy a ride.” Echo grinned.
“Yes, please.” You went to them with excitement. Everyone filed into the speeder and rushed towards the forest.

What Isn’t Noticed
Pairing: The Bad Batch x Reader (Polyamorous)
Summary: You have been in a relationship with all of Clone Force 99 for a bit, but when a standard clone strikes up a conversation while you are with Hunter, tensions start to rise
Warnings: poly relationship?, jealous!hunter, l-bombs?, this is mostly hunter centered for now
Word Count: 1551
A/N: This is waaaay before Order 66 and stuff, like 1 or 2 years before.
Pt II: Guilt of Prosperity, Pt III: Lodestar
XXXXXXX
You were always a very shy and humble person, so no one would ever imagine you to be in a relationship with a clone trooper. Not just one, but five! Your relationship wasn’t too public, but it was no secret either. Honestly, if people really knew that side of you more, they’d expect you to be with people like Captain Rex, Fives, and Cody. However, they weren’t your paramours, the troopers of Clone Force 99 were. You have always been perceived as such a sweet young thing ever since you arrived in Kamino to help the Kaminoans teach the younger clones and nurse them as something like a caretaker. Nearly all the clones respected you and were the kindest in your presence, so the thought of you favoriting Clone Force 99 boggled them. Of course, you wouldn’t have admitted Clone Force 99 was your favorite division out of the clone troopers, but it was obvious due to you going as far as being in a relationship with all five of them. That was beside the point; even though Clone Force 99 was different from the other troopers, they were still very fond and protective over you like the other clones, which didn’t bother the others too much. If it did, they couldn’t muster up enough courage to say so out loud due to 99’s looming reputation.
Recently, you weren’t fully needed as an educational aid or caretaker because the production of new clones started to deplete. No one truly noticed it though due to most of the clone troopers already being put to good use. Though you weren’t fully needed, the Kaminoans did not deem you useless. The rumors of your relationship had lingered amongst them also, so they directed you as a communications officer for Clone Force 99 whenever they went on missions. The Kaminoans barely cared about what the clones were up to, personally, just as long as they were doing what they were supposed to. That’s what they were genetically engineered to do anyways. And like the other clones, they hardly interfered with what Clone Force 99 did away from their missions and duties. Of course their duties were different from other clones due to being genetically enhanced, so they barely went on standard missions and spent more time with you on Kamino. Right now, you were in one of the communications rooms transferring the details of your last mission into the computer from your holopad. It was a tedious process since you had to input more data than other missions because of how different Clone Force 99’s missions were from the rest. You sighed, watching as everything loaded onto the computer. The door hissed while sliding open and soft footsteps entered the room.
“There you are.” A soft but gruff voice reached your ears which caused you to turn. Hunter stood behind you with his arms crossed over his chest plate as he managed a small smile, “You alright, Mesh’la?”
“Of course, how’d you find me?”
“Recognized your scent and heard your sigh from the end of the corridor.” He moved towards you and kissed your forehead, “Downloading data from our last mission?”
“Yeah.” You groaned, seeing the loading bar’s percentage was still at 56. This caused Hunter to chuckle and loom over you, looking at the screen.
“Wow… it really took us 86 seconds to move the weapons from the hangar to the ship?”
“Wrecker was messing around with Crosshair and they almost got into a fistfight… again.”
He hummed and hit the computers side, causing the data to download to 100 percent.
“I-” you stared at the computer in awe, “How did you do that? Do all the computers do that?”
“No, just this one.”
“I’ll take note of that.” You unplugged your holopad and stood from the chair, “Where are you off to?”
“Was going to find the boys, but I’m sure they’re back in our room. You staying over tonight?”
You nodded with a grin which caused Hunter to smile and take your waist, escorting you out of the communications room. You two walked down the corridor together, but then a voice called to you. You turned to see a clone you had helped during your time as an educational aid and smiled.
“Hi, Noco!” You greeted as he walked up to you with a grin, “What have you been up to?”
“I was just appointed to accompany some of the Jedi masters to retrieve new younglings so they can train at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.”
You gasped, “What a great opportunity! I’ve never really been in the presence of a Jedi. That sounds like such an honor.”
“I’ll put in a good word for you.” Noco winked which caused you to laugh, but Hunter’s body language immediately changed as he read yours and this clone’s chemistry.
“I’m sure they’re in no need of a simple communications officer at this time, but thank you. I have to go, be safe, alright?”
Noco nodded and saluted you playfully, “Of course.” Then he turned to Hunter and saluted him properly.
“Apologies, Sergeant Hunter.”
Hunter just nodded and urged you down the corridor as Noco walked the other way. You could feel the tension radiating from Hunter’s body and knew to stay quiet as the both of you made your way to the 99’s room. The door slid open with a woosh and you stepped in with Hunter before he left you to go to the refresher. The door closed behind you and the others were looking towards the refresher with confusion. Even Crosshair’s brows knitted together when he saw his brother leave you alone so abruptly. The guilt started to pool into your stomach and you rushed to Echo. He caught you in a hug immediately, shushing you as you sniffled.
“What happened, cyare?”
“I… I don’t know… I was just talking to one of my old students is all…”
“Well, we all know Hunter. He must’ve sensed something you couldn’t.” Tech said nonchalantly.
You pulled away from Echo and took off your uniform before climbing into Wrecker’s bed and hugging his Tooka doll, back faced to them. They all looked at each other before going back to what they were doing, knowing not to push anymore questions on you. Of course you didn’t like when any of them were upset with you, but Hunter was different when he got upset because it’s almost always something deeper that only he can notice. Hunter had finally left the ‘fresher, drying off his damp hair. Before he could walk any further into the room, Crosshair stood in front of him with his arms crossed before jerking his head toward Wreckers bed. Hunter averted his eyes and saw Wrecker holding you close.
“It’s alright, ad'ika… don’t be sad.”
Hunter sighed and looked away, but Crosshair still stood there, which suggested that he wanted Hunter to spill. Tech and Echo soon joined him, which put more pressure on their brother, who groaned lowly.
“One of the regs stopped us in the hall and started a conversation and the chemicals from his brain were going crazy. He… he has feelings for…”
His brothers’ facials changed after hearing his side of the story.
“Well… that is a dilemma…” Tech admitted lowly.
“We’ll deal with it later. You can’t just give the silent treatment about something only you can notice, you kriffin’ blockhead.” Echo scolded before going back to his work. Tech nodded and went back to his bunk. Crosshair took a moment to look at his brother before walking back to his rifle, which he was cleaning. Hunter sighed and looked back at Wrecker’s bed. You had gotten up and put your uniform back on before getting off the bunk.
“I forgot something in my room. I’ll be back.” You slipped on your shoes before heading towards the door. Hunter quickly followed you out and walked alongside you as you made your way to your room. No words were said for the small journey, and Hunter had no courage to speak first. He wanted to have a more private talk with no other clones around. You both arrived at your room and you walked in. Hunter hesitated at first, but you looked back at him, gesturing for him to step in. He did so and the door closed behind him. You stood in the middle of the room and sighed.
“I don’t really need anything from here. I just wanted to be alone with you so we could talk…”
“Thank the stars,” He whispered, “Me too.”
“I’m sorry for upsetting you, Hunter.” “No, no, cyare… I shouldn’t have gotten upset. It was stupid anyway.”
“I know you guys don’t like regs-”
“That doesn’t mean you have to dislike them. You taught most of those boys out there, watched them grow. It’s not your fault.” He walked over to you and held you by your waist. You looked up at him with a sad look before wrapping your arms around him to hug him tight. He did the same as well, taking in your scent.
“I love you so much, cyar’ika…”
Your heart nearly stopped.
That was the first time one of the boys has ever admitted they loved you…
“I love you too, Hunter.” You whispered.

You were sitting in the bunker, cleaning off AZI while Omega and Hunter were still outside along with Echo and Tech, who were still working on the speeder. Wrecker was laying on one of the beds, tossing around a small doodad in the air to entertain himself. You sighed gently after getting the last bit of dust off of him before trying to power him on. To no avail, there was still no sign of life in the droid yet, so you got up and washed your hands in the sink.
“You alright, Wreck?” You called gently over the running water, just to check in. There was no answer, which caused you to turn the water off and turn.
“Wreck-” You were surprised when he was right behind you with a sly smile. You let out a small yelp as he grabbed you by the waist and lifted you up onto the counter. Even if you were elevated, you still didn’t meet his height at all. He cupped your face gently before leaning in and kissing you gently. You accepted the motion of his lips while leading your hand to hold the back of his head. He then moved his hands under your bum to lift you a bit higher so his lips could meet your neck. You kept your eyes shut while relishing his touch, but then thoughts started to reel through your mind.
...the perfect subject for our new project…
...the natural reproduction of enhanced clones…
Subject #9910 has initiated intimacy…
“Wreck…” You started breathlessly. His lips were merciless against you along with his hands, which started to grope your breasts. “Wrecker-”
Another voice entered the room which caused the both of you to stop your movements.
“Hold on, Tech, I’m just getting something!” Echo called as he walked into the bunker and found the two of you which led him to smirk, “Did I interrupt?”
Before Wrecker could answer, you shook your head, “No. No.” You moved out of Wrecker’s grasp and went to D-5, who was rolling near AZI.
“C’mon, bud, let's take you outside for a bit…” You whispered while picking him up and heading out of the bunker, past Echo. The sunlight hit your eyeline which caused you to raise your hand to block it as you adjusted to the new setting. Tech was under the speeder, muttering about the capacitors or something like that. You placed D-5 down so he could roll around.
“Where is Echo with that-” Tech started, but stopped whence he saw you standing before him, “Hello, darling. Are you alright?” He approached you and cupped your face, “You’re a bit flushed. You’re not sick, are you?”
You shook your head, “I’m alright, Tech. Don’t worry. How’s the speeder coming along?”
“It’s getting there. More or less.” He shrugged gently, his eyes still on you.
“Where are Hunter and Omega?”
“Just com'd them, Hunter said they’re down by the nearby creek.”
You nodded, “Alright, thank you.” You moved to turn away but Tech caught your arm.
“Are you sure you’re alright, love?”
You looked back at him with a nod and a weak smile. He wasn’t entirely convinced, but he let you go anyway, not wanting to push you. You walked away and passed through the holoshield before making your way to Hunter and Omega. D-5 was rolling beside you, knowing this path as well as you.
“Glad to be back here, huh, bud?”
“Ha-Happy!” He responded. You hummed while walking a bit further before finding the two hunched over the small creek. Hunter was talking with Omega, showing her something, a glint of fondness in his eyes. The sight of them made your heart swell slightly, but also caused those same thoughts from earlier to reel through your mind again.
...the natural reproduction of enhanced clones…
Your heart must have sped up a bit because Hunter turned to where you were standing with a small smile.
“Hey, cyare… you alright?”
You nodded as D-5 bumped Omega’s leg to greet her, “Just wanted to check in…”
He stood up and strided towards you before he raised his hand to cup the back of your neck, “We’re doing alright, teaching Omega some hunting and tracking tips.”
“That’s good.” You whispered, tracing the shape of his tattoo with your eyes. Hunter could sense an uneasiness about you and furrowed his brows, “What is it?”
Your eyes connected with his again and you shook your head, trying to reassure him. However, you knew Hunter couldn’t be fooled so easily.
“Omega, why don’t you head back to the bunker with D-5? Get the others gathered so we could have a meal.”
“Alright!” She responded happily while rushing off with the droid. You tried to turn to follow but Hunter stopped you.
“She’ll find her way back, it’s not too far.” He insisted, still looking at you with intense eyes while trying to figure out what was wrong before you could deny telling him. He grabbed your hand and led you to the creek, urging you to sit next to the water with him. The two of you sat in silence for a moment before Hunter finally spoke up.
“Is it Crosshair?”
You shook your head, watching as the water rushed gently through the creek, “Not this time…”
He took a second to think before it finally clicked, “The file.”
You said and did nothing, still watching the flowing water. From your slightly disheveled shirt, he knew that something had happened at the bunker. Most likely with Wrecker since Echo and Tech were preoccupied with the speeder.
“Cyar’ika…” He whispered, getting closer and cupping your face, “We would never force you to do anything like that…”
“The Kaminoans would… besides, you wouldn’t have known...”
He shook his head, “But I would…”
You looked at him in confusion, so he went on, “The birth control chip changes your hormonal imbalances to prevent you from getting pregnant, especially during ovulation. I didn’t notice the change immediately, but that night in the cockpit as we were heading back to Ord Mantell… it hit me. That’s why I didn’t… finish inside you.”
You nodded, “I had it taken out to prevent any type of tracking… and I had no desire in finding anyone else to want-” You stopped, looking down shamefully, “I… I couldn’t think of things like that. Especially without you and the other boys…”
Hunter nodded, hooking your chin and lifting it so you could look into his eyes, “We can find someone so you could get another.”
You shook your head, “No… it already cost so much. Even if the Republic provided it last time… I don’t think it’s a good idea to spend our credits on something so… miniscule.”
“Are you sure?” He whispered. You nodded gently which caused him to smile and bring you closer to him. You sank into his chest, taking in the earthy scent that accented his usual musk.
“I love you…” He whispered into your hair.
“I love you too…”
*******
You all sat in the bunker, surrounded by dim lamplight. Omega was sitting with Tech as the both of them looked at AZI. Wrecker was deadlifting Gonky while Echo was cleaning the dishes and you were sitting on one of the beds with Hunter as he looked at a map of the woods.
“So we’re here… the town is outside this eastern border…”
You nodded, looking at the map, “The generators are over here… they help with the electricity and the running water.”
“What are they powered with?”
“One of the last crystals I had from Caetum… it’ll last for a long time, but Bronco usually made it a habit to turn off the generators when we were off planet, just to save energy.”
Hunter nodded, but then one of the boys’ vambraces went off. You all looked at each other confused since your channel was closed to others.
“Tech?” Hunter turned to his brother, who looked at his vambrace.
“It’s Rex’s frequency.” Tech explained. You nodded and grabbed it from him before connecting it to the computer. You all gathered around it as his hologram popped up.
“Captain.” Hunter greeted.
“Hello, everyone. I hope you’re all doing alright. I just got the news about Kamino and word that you all were there. How are you holding up?”
Hunter nodded, “We’re alright. Decided to stay in hiding for a bit so the parlor can stay off the Empire’s radar.”
“Good. Now, I’m sure you know this isn’t just a check up.”
“Of course, what do you need?” You wondered.
“Something came up and I too need to go into hiding. I thought it best we talk anyways. Is it safe to send your location?”
You looked to the others before nodding, “As long as it’s safe on your end.”
“Affirmative.”
You sent him the data and nodded, “Alright, this will bring you to a small town. We’ll meet you there.”
“Copy, Rex out.”
“Copy, stay safe.”
He nodded before the hologram disappeared.
“So, Rex is coming?” Omega wondered.
“Yeah, for a bit.” Hunter ruffled her hair gently, “Let’s get some rest, Lodestar and I will head into town tomorrow.”
“Can I go?”
“No, Meg, stay here with the others.”
She huffed, which caused Echo to nudge her with a chuckle, “We’re not that bad, are we?”
“No.” Omega replied sheepishly.
“Get ready for bed now, Meg.” You insisted, which caused her to go to the ‘fresher with a small slump of her shoulders. You shook your head with a smile and turned down the bed. Hunter placed a hand on the small of your back.
“Are you sure about this?”
“Of course.” You whispered, “It’s for the best.”
He nodded before placing a gentle kiss against your temple.

You sat down in the cockpit while Hunter stood and looked at the projected hologram of Cid.
“We’re gonna lay low before we head back to Ord Mantell so the Empire doesn’t follow us there.”
“You should’ve thought of that before bringing your clone friend here!”
“Is he alright?”
“Your other friend, Rec or somethin’, picked him up and I told him you were off-world.”
“Okay, we’ll try to stay in touch. It won’t be long.”
“Where will you stay?”
“I’ve got that covered,” You spoke up, “I’ll send a transmission to you as soon as we’re settled.”
“Fine, fine, but this is coming outta your pay.” She hung up and the others looked at you. You said nothing before pulling out a small metal rod from your wrist armor and inputting it into the ship's console.
“Set the hyperdrive to these coordinates.”
“Where are you taking us?” Tech wondered.
“You’ll see when we get there…” You whispered, looking out the window.
Knowing it would take a while, you left the cockpit and went to check on Omega in the gunner’s mount. You found her sitting against the wall, knees to her chest, and eyes fixated on AZI, who was still charging. You knew her mind was still on Kamino, so you tried not to startle her while entering the compartment. You took a place next to her, looking over at AZI who went from being nice and shiny to busted and scratched from your recent endeavors.
“You should get some rest.” You insisted, “I’m sure you couldn’t after Daro.”
“I’ll rest when AZI’s fully charged.”
You nodded, caressing her now dried off hair, “Okay.”
She sighed, placing her head into the crook of her arms, covering her eyes, “I can’t stop seeing it… Kamino… burning down…”
“I know…”
“That place was all I’d ever known before all this.”
You nodded, “Now, you’ll get to know the rest of the galaxy.”
She looked up at you, “How… how did you do it?”
“What?”
“Let all of it go? Your old life?”
You sat back, thinking for a moment, “I didn’t…”
“Huh?”
“It’s a part of me. I could never let it go… it will always be there, even if it doesn’t physically exist anymore.”
She looked up at you, tears filling her eyes, and she climbed up into your lap while embracing you tightly. You accepted her hug immediately and moved out of the gunner’s mount carefully before heading to the cockpit.
“Progress?” You wondered while taking a seat.
“We’re nearly there… entering the Illenium System.”
“The Illenium System?” Hunter questioned, “Barely anything there.”
“Exactly…” You muttered, still holding Omega close.
Once out of lightspeed, the whole group stared in awe at the planet just in range. It was a forest planet with a few moons surrounding it.
“What is this place?” Omega wondered.
“Nowhere special.” You whispered, letting her get closer to the console to look before standing, “Gather your things and the droids. We have to shut off the ship completely in order to stay hidden.”
“Why? Barely anyone is out here.”
“Trust me.” You replied, “It’s for the best.”
They didn’t ask any further questions and did what they had to do. You had finished packing and went back into the cockpit.
“Let me land, Tech. There’s somewhere specific we need to park the ship.”
He nodded and moved as you took over the controls. Echo sat beside you, watching as you maneuvered the ship. He started to get worried as you got closer to the canopy of trees.
“Careful, mesh’la.”
“Don’t worry, Eck. I’ve got it.” You smiled weakly, amused by the face he was making as he watched. You lowered into what seemed to be more trees, but then everything started to glitch around you, which caught Echo by surprise.
“A hologram? There can’t be a hologram this big? The technology doesn’t exist!”
You opened the hatch of the ship and started to shut everything off.”
“Um, darling, how are you going to contact Cid?” Tech walked in.
“Not with the ship.” You answered simply, “Everyone ready?”
They all agreed in unison and you grabbed D-5 from Omega. Wrecker was holding Gonky over his shoulder and Hunter helped with AZI. You led them all out and they looked around at the clearing, seeing the unfamiliar devices implanted into the surrounding trees.
“What is this place, Lodestar?” Omega asked.
“A safe place.” You smiled at her before opening up some rusted durasteel doors in the ground that were covered in foliage. The others let out some sounds of amazement before entering through the doors.
“The ship has to stay off or else it’ll interfere with the holoprojectors.”
“Those are projectors?” Tech asked incredulously, “They produce such a vast and realistic hologram! What’s their power source?”
You laughed, “I’ll explain once we’re inside.”
You followed behind, closing the doors gently, letting the dark consume the small corridor you were in. You felt around before finding a small switch which activated some lights. Everyone looked around as you led the group on.
“C’mon, just down here. It’s a bit of a walk, but that’s for safety.” You explained.
“How did you know about this place?” Hunter wondered.
“When I was in the guild… My partner showed me this place. It’s where he hid his family away, but the guild found out and told the Pykes while we ran some spice…”
“That’s when he died.” Omega finished.
You nodded.
“Must’ve been hard to tell his family.”
“I didn’t have to.” You replied, arriving at a large steel door, “I buried him next to them.”
Everyone grew quiet as you inputted a code into a small panel before the door unlocked. You swung it open with the help of Echo and Tech to reveal a large living space with a single transparisteel window looking over the vast forest just below you.
“Are we… Are we inside of the cliff we flew over?” Echo asked.
“Yeah.” You set your thing’s down, “Make yourselves at home.” You announced, heading to the small computer attached to the wall just next to the door, “The refresher is over there. There’s also a pantry, but we might have to restock. There should be a speeder hidden outside that might need some fixing up, we can take that to the town nearby to get some food. Obviously that’s the kitchen, and fresh water flows into here from the stream just downwind of the ship.”
The Batch was amazed by the large living space and started to take their armor off.
“There’s a trunk of clothes just under one of those bunks. It’s best we blend in for now.” You finished typing on the computer, “Transmission sent to Cid.”
“Cyare… this place is…”
“I know…” You whispered, hugging Hunter from behind, “I wish we could stay, but…”
“I know.” He sighed, holding one of your hands.
You moved under his left arm and looked up at him, smiling, which caused him to look at you with a small smile.
“What?” He wondered.
You shook your head, trying to pull away but he caught you and caused you to flop down onto the nearby bed, a laugh leaving your lips. Hunter pushed your hair back from your face and looked at you for a moment. He let out a small breath while taking in your features, looking them over again and again. There was something behind his grey eyes you couldn’t seem to read.
“Me’copaani?” You whispered, which caused his trance to break and him to focus on your eyes.
“Nothing…” He murmured, caressing your cheek, “Don’t worry.”
Before you could say something else, D-5 came online due to being asleep for most of the flight and rolled around.
“Bronco! B-B-Bronco!”
You moved to get up, which caused Hunter to move also, “No, buddy, Bronco’s not here anymore.”
“Bronco? He was the person who made this place?” Echo inquired.
“Yeah, a bounty hunter. He helped me a lot with making a life in the outer rim… helped me disappear.” You explained, letting D-5 roll around.
“Did you know who he was before becoming a bounty hunter?” Omega asked.
“He worked for the Republic. In Coruscant. He didn’t specify what, but once the clones came into production, he saw a way out. A way to just… live. Just him, his wife, and his daughter.” You smiled at the thought, remembering the way he would light up when he talked about them. D-5 bumped your leg, which caused you to stand and walk over the window, observing the sky.
“Let’s eat a bit then get some rest.” You announced, pulling at the dark curtains hanging to the side to cover the window. You turned on some lights so you could work through the dark. You went to the pantry and pulled out some rations that activate with warm water.
“I’ll go into town tomorrow to get some more food.” You stated while warming up some water to prepare the food
“We’ll go with you.”
“No, you should stay here. It’s not too far on foot. Tech, Echo, can you work on the speeder tomorrow?”
They nodded.
“You can keep the doors open if you all want to go out of the safehouse, but make sure you’re nearby.”
“You’ll share the code with us?”
“Of course, so far, you are all the only ones who know about this place. When transmissions are sent out, they don’t ping out the exact location. It gives the town’s coordinates.”
“Your friend was very smart.” Tech remarked, “Did he make those devices?”
“He had other friends… but sometimes bounty hunting catches up with you.” You gave them each the prepared rations.
No more questions were asked the rest of the night. You all were still recovering from Kamino, so the opportunity of relaxing was taken graciously. In the morning, you got up before everyone else. Hunter must have still been recovering from the constant stimulation of his senses since Kamino. You had just finished getting dressed when some rustling came from the bed nearest to you. You looked to see Omega yawning and sitting up, which caused you to smile.
“Good morning, ‘Meg.” You whispered.
She looked up at you tiredly while slurring, “Good morning, mum.”
You were speechless. She was rubbing her eyes while you stared at her in disbelief, then she looked up to you with a smile.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m gonna go into town, would you like to join me?”
She nodded gleefully and got out of bed. You pulled out some clothes for her to change into.
“I think it’s best you change. We’ll do some washing after we get back.”
She nodded, finishing up and waiting for you. You strapped the sheath of your dagger under your arm and hid it with the poncho you were wearing.
“Let’s get going. It’s a bit far, we should be back before everyone else wakes up.”
You both walked out of the bunker and Omega followed you as you passed the ship.
“You have to be careful around here, okay? There are no specific trails so make sure you’re with one of us when you wanna go out, okay?”
“Okay.”
You nodded and kept walking until you both arrived at the border of the small town. You let Omega walk ahead of you so she wasn’t out of your sight. The town was safe enough for Omega to wander, but you still wanted to be cautious. No one asked questions here, which was perfect for hiding out. It was a peaceful town and the natives were very kind if you didn’t cause too much trouble. You bought some food and other necessities before urging Omega away from a small stand where multiple animals resided in cages or just roamed freely around it. You had to get back to the shelter before the boys starve to death. Omega walked on top of a fallen tree while she talked and asked questions.
“Why can’t we stay here?”
“We won’t be able to earn credits. We need those to be able to live.” You smiled, looking around as the birds flew past. There was some bickering nearby and you walked through the holographic shield to find Tech and Echo arguing with each other in front of the old speeder near the doors.
“Of course it’ll help the speed, what are you talking about?” Tech looked at Echo while putting a tool down.
“And what if it combusts while one of us is driving it?” Echo groaned, shoving his brother slightly.
“Okay!” You laughed, “I think you boys need something to eat. C’mon, inside.”
They nodded and followed you in with Omega. Hunter was sitting on the edge of the bed he had slept on with you, his hair free from the signature red bandana. You placed the bag of food and other things down before speaking.
“I was planning on washing our clothes today, where are all your blacks?”
Echo and Tech looked down at their attire, which was what you were exactly talking about. You shook your head with an amused smile.
“Get some clothes from the trunk and take those off, they’re filthy!”
Hunter was the only one wearing civilian clothes already, so he just gestured to the blacks folded on his trunk.
“Where’s Wrecker?” You wondered.
“Said he wanted to try hunting.” Hunter explained.
“Without you?” You raised your brow, “Hunter.”
He chuckled, “He was fairly insistent that he wanted to try on his own.”
You looked out the door worriedly, “I should go find him. He doesn’t know these woods as well as I do.”
“He’ll be alright. If he’s not back soon, I’ll look for him.” Hunter stood, helping you unload the groceries you’d gotten, “This is a lot, how…?”
“Connections.” You said simply, placing them into the pantry, “I still bought most of it, though. It should be enough for a week here. If anything, I could do some things for the townspeople. They don’t like coming into the woods, they pay good money if you bring back meat and such.”
“Why don’t they like the woods?” Echo wondered.
“There used to be beasts that would attack their town every harvest, but Bronco and I took care of it. However, they’re still wary.”
You looked around and found Omega in the corner where AZI resided. Although he was plugged in long enough to be fully charged, he still hasn’t come online.
“Come on, ‘Meg. Wanna help me cook breakfast?”
She shook her head, wiping away some remaining gunk on his servos. There was some loud huffing and you all grew cautious before Wrecker entered. “There you are! Where’d go off to, ad’ika?” Wrecker laughed.
“Went into town. How was hunting?”
He looked away sheepishly, pulling out a sack which looked to be close to empty, “Nothin’ big.”
You smiled sweetly to him before grabbing the bag, looking into it. There were a few small creatures he had caught.
“Thank you, Wreck. Don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of it.” You reassured as Hunter grabbed the bag.
“I’ll go outside, skin these. Omega, come on.”
Omega didn’t deny Hunter’s order and followed him out of the den.

Crosshair stalked through the forest, scanning every inch for you. Deep within him, Crosshair can feel anguish and worry for your well-being. He just got you back… he didn’t want to lose you again. He looked over the trodden soil and cursed to himself. Hunter was always the better tracker, enhancements or not.
“Sir, we’ve scanned the area, there are signs of a lifeform just north of here.” One of his troopers informed.
“Let’s move.” He ordered, walking towards the direction the trooper pointed. The others with him followed, scouting the terrain around them just in case the Batch came back for a surprise attack. After a bit of trekking, Crosshair flicked down his spy glass and scanned for you. Behind some trees, his system spotted your heat signature and he rushed over. You were helmetless, a small cut formed above your brow, but from what he saw you were fine. He looked around you and noticed the broken branches, which signified that the trees must have broken your fall enough for you to not break your whole body from the height you fell. He felt a sense of relief at the bottom of his heart, but he couldn’t show any sign of vulnerability. He eyed your helmet and walked over to it as the troopers placed you on a stretcher.
“What should we do with her?” His squad member asked.
“Bring her to our ship and have a medical droid tend to her. She’s coming to Kamino with us.” He instructed while looking at his reflection in the visor of your helmet. He didn’t recognize the person looking back at him...
“Yes, Commander.”
After a moment, he headed back to the shuttle to go visit the prisoner already waiting for him.
*******
He followed the trooper leading him to the detention level and once the doors slid open, he spoke, “Leave me. I’ll go alone from here.”
“Yes, commander. He’s just at the end.”
He gave the trooper a curt nod before stepping into the vast corridor and making sure the doors slid fully closed behind him. He strutted all the way to the end and eyed his older brother through his helmet before taking it off.
“I was hoping for the whole squad… but you’ll do just fine.”
“Lodestar,” Hunter finally spoke, “Did you find her?”
“She’s fine, already loaded onto the ship. Sedated. But she’ll wake up by the time we land.”
“What do you mean ‘by the time we land’?”
“You didn’t think I would keep you here in a cell, did you?”
Hunter said nothing while glaring at his vod. Crosshair pressed a button to lower the shield of the cell and tossed cuffs at Hunter.
“Put them on, then follow me.”
Hunter knew not to resist, so he did as ordered.
“Finally following orders.” Crosshair placed his helmet back on, “How… humorous.”
Hunter stood as the cuffs were secured, which caused Crosshair to walk in, grab his brother’s helmet, then pull out his blaster.
“Move.”
*******
Hunter was escorted into the storage part of the shuttle by two of Crosshair’s troopers and you were already there: unconscious and laid in a stretcher with your hands cuffed together. What concerned him most was the oxygen mask covering the bottom half of your face.
“Lodestar…” He rushed to you and pushed your hair back with his own cuffed hands. He looked to the troopers, “Is she gonna be alright?”
The troopers said nothing, looking to the durasteel wall across from them, which did something to Hunter’s nerves.
“Answer me!” He ordered as he pushed one of the troopers against the wall. The other held up their blaster.
“I suggest you settle down… our Commander doesn’t want you dead but maybe he’ll make an exception for the girl if you don’t obey us.” The trooper threatened. Hunter surrendered and backed into the wall, trying to be as close to you as possible. He knew Crosshair wouldn’t hesitate to kill him first before any harm came to you, but he couldn’t risk it. After minutes of waiting, the shuttle finally began to take off and leave Daro’s atmosphere, and to his sheer luck, Crosshair had decided to come visit him again. The durasteel doors slid open and his vod strutted in, helmetless.
“Where are we going?” Hunter asked simply.
Crosshair crouched down and grabbed the communicator in one of the utility pockets on his brother’s belt, “You’ll find out soon enough,” He hissed while activating the device, “And so will your squad.”
“Using my comm won’t work. They’ll know it’s a trap.”
“They’ll still come for you.” Crosshair stated as the doors opened again, but hesitated as he glanced your way. However, he shook off the desire to check on you and headed back to the ship’s cockpit.
He entered and turned to the pilot, “Did the medical droid make a report on the girl’s condition?”
“Yes, commander. He inputted it into the computer.”
Crosshair nodded shortly before turning to a small panel and accessing the ship’s files. He found the most recent medical file and looked over it meticulously. Oddly enough, it had your birth name on it, which confused him. He looked for any files on medical history and found one with Nala Se’s signature on it. He knew he had to open it. While reading through the files, he came to a shocking discovery. The sniper took a moment to make sure no one was watching him before inputting a small device into the panel and downloading the file then deleting it from the computer’s database.
“Did you find it, sir?”
“Yes.” He answered plainly before leaving the cockpit and holding onto the small handle above him due to the main hull not having any seats. How is he going to approach you about this?
It wasn’t long until the shuttle landed in Kamino. The sudden jolts from the ship woke you up leading you to groan softly. You tried to reach for your head with one hand, but raised your wrists to look and see the cuffs around them. You huffed and pushed the mask off your face before sitting up and seeing one of Crosshair’s troopers standing over you with their blaster at hand.
“Up. Now.” She ordered, which you complied to. As you stood, Hunter was standing with another trooper.
“Hunter.” You gasped.
He looked at you with a hint of relief in his eyes. You moved past the soldier and went to him, cupping his face gently.
“Are you alright?” You looked over him worriedly.
“I’m alright…” He whispered, “Are you?”
You nodded before looking over his soldier and seeing Crosshair himself standing there. You moved with one of the troopers’ rough assistance and took your place next to Hunter. Crosshair said nothing as he led you all off the shuttle to Kamino’s main hangar. You looked around, seeing multiple troopers and soldiers loading the shuttles residing on the platform.
“Move it.” A trooper nudged you with their blaster so you could follow.
The group continued to walk before stopping while a man with a few troopers stood in front of you.
“Where are the rest of them?” He wondered while examining you and Hunter.
“They’ll be here.” Crosshair stated, “We’ll intercept upon arrival.”
The man turned to look at Hunter and smirked, “So you’re the one they call “Hunter.” The destruction your squad caused on Ryloth caught my attention.” Then he looked at you, “and you’re the liberator… What's your name again? Ah, yes, Lodestar. You’ve been causing a lot of trouble even before the Empire began. Some of our Outer Rim allies have talked of you before. You cost them a lot of credits for the slaves you freed.”
You said nothing, giving him a hard stare.
“I leave this to you, Commander. Stay on schedule.” He insisted before you were led away.
You walked down the bright corridors. It almost hurt your eyes, but that didn’t bother you as much as the memories starting to flood back to you. It’s been a year since you’ve stepped foot on Kamino, and it didn’t feel welcoming at all.
“Where are all the regs?” Hunter asked.
“When did you start caring about them?”
“No Kaminoans either.” Hunter continued, “This facility is being decommissioned. You don’t seem too concerned.”
“Why would I be?” Crosshair wondered.
“Because the Empire will be phasing out clones next.” Hunter turned to his brother with urgency.
“Not the ones that matter.” Crosshair jabbed him with the blaster he was holding.
“If they could assign people numbers like they’re nothing, then why do you think you matter?” You instigated, “Clones used to choose names for themselves because they didn’t just want to be a number… a lifeless digit. Now people are signing up for them like droids in a factory. The Empire is gonna learn that they can’t chip people they didn’t make.”
Crosshair turned to you, “Who are you to say anything? They gave up their lives to fight for a cause. You gave yours up out of fear!”
You stayed silent while looking at his emerald visor, wishing you could see his eyes. All of you kept walking down the corridor until you arrived at a room with large holomaps displayed on the walls. You’ve only been in a room like this one time, and it was when you were first starting on Kamino as an educational aid. You remember standing before Nala Se, Prime Minister Lama Suu, and Jedi Master Shaak Ti as they asked you multiple questions. Your heart raced the same as when you first stepped into that room, but you don’t know if it was the nerves or the rising pain in your body.
“A ship was detected entering the system, but we lost them below scanner range.” The trooper already waiting there announced.
“It’s them.” Crosshair said, taking a seat in one of the chairs.
“I’ll notify the scouts.” The other trooper stated, but Crosshair interrupted.
“Don’t bother. They’ll come to us. They don’t leave their own behind, most of the time.” The sniper sneered.
“You tried to kill us. We didn’t have a choice.” Hunter insisted.
“And I did?”
You looked at Hunter, “Hunter…”
“There was nothing we could do, cyare.”
You examined your metamour and knew he was being genuine. At the time, there must’ve truly been nothing he could do to save his brother.
“Crosshair, I’ve seen what the Empire’s doing,” Hunter started, “Occupying planets and silencing anyone who stands against them. You know it’s not right.”
Crosshair stood to loom over his vod, “You still don’t see the bigger picture, but you will…”
“Can’t you see they’re using you? Because of that damn chip in your head?” You shook your head, “I’ve seen it. Been on the inside. People-people are dying! Dying for a cause they don’t even know about! If the Empire is so great, then why don’t they share with their people? That’s what caused the downfall of the Republic, is that what the Empire wants?” You winced, stumbling back slightly.
“Cyare.” Hunter grabbed a hold of your arms, “What is it? What’s wrong?”
“N-nothing. I’m okay.” You murmured, “It’s okay.”
“The fall. You’re not fully healed-”
An alarm started to go off.
“We have an unauthorized entry on platform 5.” One of the troopers announced.
“Right on schedule.” He sighed, “Time to go.”
You were pulled away from Hunter before being led to the training room. You could feel the burn in your legs as you arrived onto the fighting ground and Crosshair held your cuffs while holding a blaster to Hunter’s back. A small noise came from in front of you and the boys were raised into the room, surrounded by Crosshair’s troopers.
“And here we all are, together again.” He tossed Hunter’s comm, “You won’t be needing your weapons.”
They hesitated before Hunter gave them a curt nod before tossing their weapons in front of them.
“See? Following orders isn’t so difficult.” He looked around, “Where’s your little sidekick?”
“You think we’d bring her here?” Wrecker pawned, “We’re smarter than that!”
“Lying was never your strength, Wrecker.” Crosshair retorted, “Find the kid.”
“No-” You tried to pull away from him, “Don’t touch her!”
The trooper left and you looked at him, “Cross-”
“That’s enough.” He tugged you back to him, “Hold your positions.” He ordered the troopers.
“So this was your grand plan? Bring us here, and kill us?”
“If I wanted you dead, you would be. Not that it wouldn’t be justified. You betrayed everything we stood for. And for what? The Republic?”
“We’re loyal to each other. Not some Empire.” Hunter argued.
“You weren’t loyal to me.” Crosshair hissed, “I was one of you. You may have forgotten, but I haven’t. And it’s why I’m going to give you what you never gave me: a chance.”
You looked up at him with furrowed eyebrows. He then raised his hand as his communicator beeped.
“Sir, I’ve found the girl.”
“Send her on a shuttle off-world.”
“Crosshair, don’t.” Hunter ordered.
“It’s for her own good. And yours.”
“Omega belongs with us.”
“Living amongst fugitives where she’s in constant danger?” He scoffed, “You want to protect the kid, then let her go. Stop pretending to be something you’re not, Hunter. We’re not like the regs. We never have been. We’re superior. The Empire can’t protect the galaxy without strength. This is what we were made for. Think of all we could do… together.” He used Hunter’s knife to take off his cuffs, “We were brothers once… we can be again.” He pushed Hunter towards the others.
“Why would we trust you?” Hunter asked.
Crosshair held up his blaster and looked to his troopers, “Stand down.”
“Negative, commander.” One of the troopers said, but then Crosshair shot and it deflected, killing all the troopers. Crosshair undid your cuffs and let you go before taking off his helmet and walking towards Hunter.
“Does that answer your question? You all are meant for more than drifting through the galaxy. It’s time to stop running. Join the Empire, and you will have purpose again.”
You had fallen to your knees due to most of the energy having left your body from the pain, but you still watched him and the others.
“You really don’t get who we are, do you?” Hunter shook his head.
“Don’t make the same mistake twice. Don’t become my enemy.”
“Crosshair… We never were.”
An alarm went off, and the training droids started to rise into the training room. Hunter lunged at Crosshair, trying to get his blaster. You rushed towards the others, trying to ignore the pain. Tech pulled you with him so you both would have some cover.
“Why’d you activate the droids?” Wrecker called out to Tech.
“This was not my doing.” Tech stated. You grabbed one of the dead troopers blasters and started to shoot at the droids approaching. As you all fought, you eyed one of Crosshair’s troopers at the doors. She shot one of the droids before backing away and you tried to stop her with a non lethal shot, but it was no use. You continued to fight until everything died down and the Batch gathered, Omega rushing towards. They all glared at Crosshair and you watched their movements. Hunter raised his blaster and you immediately took action.
“Hunter, no!” You moved in front of Crosshair, “Stop!”
“Cyare…”
“Hunter, please.” You whispered, tears gathering in your eyes as you raised your blaster, “It’s his chip…”
“Sarad… put it down…” Crosshair muttered. You looked back at him, shaking your head, but he placed his hand on your arm to push it down.
“My chip was taken out a long time ago.”
Hunter spoke, “When?”
“Does it matter?”
“Yes.”
“Cross, please.” You begged as Echo pulled you to him.
“This is who I am…” Crosshair stated.
Hunter took a moment, but before Crosshair could use his rifle to shoot any of you a stun blast came from another gun. The other turned to see you holding out a blaster while tears streamed down your face. You let out a small sob while Echo held you close, trying to comfort you.
Omega hugged Hunter, who looked down shameful, “Sorry, Omega. I know I promised you’d never have to come back here.”
“It’s okay.” She smiled.
“Hunter, three Venators are approaching the city, we need to leave now!” Tech informed. He nodded then took off Crosshair’s pack and rifle.
“Wrecker, grab Crosshair. He’s coming with us.” He went to you and grabbed your face, “Does it still hurt?”
“I can manage.” You whispered.
You all followed him quickly through the halls. The building started to shake and you all hesitated.
“Cmon!” Hunter ordered.
You arrived just outside, but everything was being destroyed.
“Back inside!” Hunter ordered. You urged Omega in and followed them.
“This way!”
You all rushed through Kamino, but then the building started to collapse.
“We need to find cover!” Hunter cried, but then there was a blast that threw you all back and made your ears ring. Suddenly, everything tilted and everyone was sliding while debris started to fall around you. You were stopped by some debris along with Omega, AZI, and Crosshair. Your vision was hazy and your ears were still ringing, before you knew it, the doors slid closed whcu separated you four from the others. You must have blacked out because a light was shining into your face, which made you open your eyes.
“Lodestar!” Omega cried.
“Omega.” You sat up, pushing the debris off of you with her help. Water was surrounding you all, which caused your instincts to kick in.
You okay?” You cupped her face.
She nodded, “Yeah, but Crosshair is stuck!” She pointed her torch in his direction, “I’ve already told Hunter. I think he’s gonna get the door unstuck!”
You nodded, rushing over the Crosshair and trying to lift the debris off of him. He started to wake up and looked around.
“Greetings CT-9904, you survived the aerial bombardment but are now moments away from drowning.”
Crosshair groaned, “Get this off me!”
“AZI! Help!” Omega pleaded while trying to get the debris off.
The water started to rise while you were still trying to get unstuck.
“Omega, come here get to higher ground! I’m gonna try to get it off him from under the water!”
She nodded, trudging to take your place while you dove under the water. She must have ordered AZI to help you because he arrived by your side.
“Omega will try to break it with her weapon!” AZI said, the water muffling his voice slightly. You nodded, using your strength to move it. A few blasts entered the water which helped get the debris off Crosshair. You resurfaced, gasping for breath while Omega helped Crosshair out of the water.
“C’mon! We have to get the door open!” Omega announced, which caused you all to follow her towards the doors. You pulled against it, seeing it slightly open with Wreckers knife. Suddenly, it started to open and sucked you all out of the room. You were caught by one of them and coughed up some water while leaning against them. Crosshair stood and looked at his brothers.
“What have you done?”
“The Empire opened fire on the city. We weren’t gonna leave you behind.” Hunter explained.
“We don’t have time for this. We have to get topside before the whole structure submerges.” Tech interfered.
“If you want to stay here and die, that’s your call.” Hunter retorted before leading you all down the dark corridor. You rushed through one of the bridges that overlooked the production tubes. Omega had stopped to look over it, which caused you all to stop.
“Omega, come on. We have to go!” Wrecker insisted, which caused her to nod.
You all kept going until there was another explosion and the corridor started to tilt.
“Hold on to something!” Hunter called out as everyone started to slide. He just so happened to be next to you, so he grabbed your waist tightly and held you while you started to hang. After a moment or two, the building came to a thud and you were all back on the durasteel floor.
“I believe we have landed on the ocean floor. There is no way to accurately calculate the damage. Most of the facility must be-” Tech reeled off, but then the building started to jolt and water came from the top, “compromised.”
“We need to get to a space that’s more secure.” Hunter said.
“Follow me.” Tech insisted.
You all rushed before you all arrived to the most familiar thing to you in Kamino.
“Ironically, our old barracks is one of the few compartments habitable, albeit temporarily.”
“This is our room?” Wrecker groaned, “What happened to it?”
“At least the smell’s gone.” Echo commented.
“Check it out. Our board’s still here!”
Crosshair glanced at it, “All those missions together, and you threw it away.”
“We made a choice, and so did you.” Hunter remarked.
“Soldiers follow orders.”
“Blind allegiance makes you a pawn. A real leader protects his squad.”
As they squabbled, you collapsed against one of the bunks, which just so happened to be Crosshair’s.
“Lodestar!” Echo rushed to you, “What is it? Are you injured?”
You couldn’t find the words as you leaned into him.
“AZI! Do a scan!” Omega ordered as she went to you.
AZI took a moment before speaking, “There are multiple contusions and two broken ribs. It seems like they were already tended to, but daily medicinal doses are needed to help the healing process.”
“It’s from her fall.” Omega realized.
“We have to get out of here.” Echo looked to Hunter, who nodded.
“We landed on the underwater tunnel!” Omega pointed it out, “If we use it to reach the base post, we could get back to the Marauder!”
“Accessing the tube will be… challenging.” Tech stated.
“Better than staying here.” Echo helped you up.
“We better try!” Omega insisted.
Crosshair sneered, “She’s calling the shots now?”
“You have a better idea?” Hunter nudged him while leading you all out of the barracks.
“My scans indicate the tunnel is right below this maintenance deck. AZI says, with a precise weld to maintain an airtight seal, this might work.”
“What do you mean, might?”
You leaned against the wall, holding your side. Hunter went to you, lifting your helmet off your head.
“Hey…” He whispered, cupping your face gently, “We’re almost there.”
“I know…” You smiled weakly, “If anything, you could leave me.”
He shook his head, “Don’t joke like that.”
You hummed before hearing a thud and looking to see AZI hovering over the whole he’s made. After a bit of observing, he called out.
“The tunnel is clear!”
You all looked at each other before entering. Hunter helped you down while Wrecker caught you gently.
“Got you, ad’ika.”
He set you down gently as everyone else made their way into the tunnel. You all walked carefully along the tunnel, but Crosshair said something which caused Wrecker to snap.
“Y’know, if it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t be in this mess.”
“Something on your tiny mind, Wrecker?”
“All that time, you didn’t even try to come back.” He sighed, “We still would’ve taken you…”
“Let it go, Wrecker. Crosshair has always been severe and unyielding. It is his nature. You cannot change that. He cannot change that.” Tech explained.
“Why are you defending me?”
“I am not. Understanding you does not mean that I agree with you.” Tech stated simply.
Wrecker had made his way to you as you leaned against the transparisteel, “Let’s get you off your feet.” He said gently before lifting you into his arms.
“Let’s keep moving.” Hunter muttered.
You all tried to move on, but then there was some distant roaring.
“AZI, these tunnels are protected, right?” Omega wondered.
“Only when the power is operational, which it is not.”
Suddenly, a large creature approached the tunnel.
“Run!”
Wrecker rushed with you still in his arms.
“Restoring the power should deter the creature! Try to stay alive!” AZI called as he went ahead. As you all rushed up the tube, the creature started to bite at the transparisteel, making it shake slightly. Suddenly, some lights came on and the creature retreated. Water started to fill the tunnel, but then it was blocked off by some durasteel doors. You all jumped down, panting as AZI looked you all over. After a bit of rest, you made your way up the end of the tunnel and arrived to a large room. Hunter took his helmet off and shined his torch.
“What is this place?”
“Nala Se’s private lab,” Tech started, “Omega said this is where our mutations were manipulated and enhanced.”
Crosshair asked, “How does she know?”
“Because she was there. Omega was created before us. Technically, she is older than we are.”
Hunter and Crosshair looked slightly shocked, but you simply caressed her hair back with a smile. You all moved further into the lab, then Wrecker spoke.
“That’s gonna be a problem.”
You all looked to see the tunnel had collapsed completely.
“That was our only way to the Marauder.” Omega whimpered.
You all decided to sit back and take some time to relax. You tried to rest and ignore the pain in your body.
“Aha!” AZI exclaimed before hovering over to you, “A small dosage of pain medication. This will dampen the pain for an hour or so, Ms. Lodestar.”
“Thanks, AZI.” You whispered before he injected you, causing you to gasp slightly.
“Careful, droid.” Crosshair sneered as he made his way to you.
“Apologies. I will heed a warning next time.” AZI said before going to Omega.
You looked up at him as he crouched down and held out a small device.
“There’s something you should see.”
You nodded, gesturing for him to sit beside you. He hesitated before sitting next to you and bringing you closer to him. You laid your head on his shoulder as he opened a file on a datapad he must’ve found lying around. You saw it had your birth name on it and furrowed your brows.
“What is this?”
“A personal file from Nala Se.”
You shook your head, “This should’ve been transferred to the Republic’s database, where I had deleted all files on me.”
“This is different… just read it.” He insisted.
You nodded and looked at it, then you started to read outloud.
“Our newest educational aid, now assigned as Subject #9910, has requested a birth control implant. After running multiple tests, we will grant her request, but have concluded that she is the perfect subject for our new project.”
“Project?” Echo wondered as everyone listened in.
You went on, “Our trials for the natural reproduction of enhanced clones will start when Subject #9910 is assigned to a clone squadron…”
“Natural reproduction?” Omega asked.
“Subject #9910 has been assigned as a communications officer to Clone Force 99, our enhanced clone unit. When the time is right, we will remove her birth control and let the trials commence…” You looked at Crosshair, who gestured for you to go on, “Subject #9910 has been injured, which has delayed the chip removal…” YOu read on to find some shocking records, “Subject #9910 has initiated intimacy with CT-9904… CT-9901… CT-9903…”
“That’s all when we were on Kamino.” Tech remarked, “They were watching you…”
“I-” You tried to say something, but shook your head.
“After Nala Se believed you were terminated, she ended the Natural Reproduction project.” AZI announced, “She stopped looking for any further candidates.”
You got up, backing away from them.
“Cyare…” Hunter whispered.
“I-I thought I would be safe from the Kaminoans… from their tubes and their tests…”
“Darling-”
“What were they gonna do if I did get pregnant? Were they… were they gonna take the baby and then run tests on it?”
“Sh…” Crosshair stopped you as he noticed your breathing quicken. You leaned into him, trying to fight back tears.
“We really need to get out of here.” Echo groaned.
The Batch started to devise a plan while you sat alone with your thoughts. You eyed Hunter and Crosshair bickering again before Crosshair walked away while Omega followed. After a few minutes, a hand was placed on your shoulder, which made you look to see Omega. She smiled gently before briefing you on the plan. Then leading you to the others. She went off with AZI to set some charges as you all prepared the capsules.
“Ugh, I can barely fit in this thing?” Wrecker groaned.
“Quit complaining. At least you’re not doubled up.” Echo retorted. You rubbed his shoulder gently.
“We’ll be in and out.” You reassured him. He gave you a small nod before bumping his helmet against yours endearingly. You made your way into a capsule, waiting for Omega.
“The explosives are set.” Omega said, getting into the capsule.
“Alright, seal them up.” Hunter ordered.
You all closed the capsules and prepared for the charges to set off. You nodded to Omega for her to push the button, which she did. Water came flooding into the room and caused your capsules to move with the current it created. You looked around, seeing that you were out of the lab and floating to the surface. AZI moved meticulously to assist your capsules.
“You’re doing great, AZI.” Omega said, shining her torch around. Then a piece of debris fell onto your capsule, pushing you down. AZI rushed to your aid and you could see his lights flickering.
“AZI?” You called. He hesitated before using his laser torch to cut the debris. You watched as the debris floated away and then AZI pushed the capsule.
“Omega! Lodestar! What’s happening?” Hunter asked on comms.
“Got caught on some debris. It’s okay, AZI’s got us.” Omega answered, looking back at the droid, “Don’t give up, we’re nearly there!”
“Your path is clear.I have completed my objective.” AZI said before shutting down.
“No!”
You watched before looking at her, about to tell her you have to keep going, but then you thought of D-5. You cupped her face and nodded your head in approval.
“We’re going after AZI!” Omega insisted before opening the capsule. You both swam down, but then some debris got in your way and took you up to the surface. You took off your helmet and gasped once you surfaced.
“OMEGA!” You called frantically, but Wrecker grabbed ahold of your arm, “No! I have to go back for her!” You argued as he lifted you into his capsule. Crosshair stood with his rifle and loomed over Hunter before shooting into the water. Omega was lifted out of the water with AZI and Hunter helped her into their capsule. The others had pulled out their blasters and pointed it towards Crosshair, who tossed Wrecker his rifle. You watched as he sat down before helping Wrecker paddle the capsule. You all arrived at the platform and watched as Tipoca City burned down.
“It's… all gone.” Omega murmured sadly.
“We should leave before the Empire’s scouts show up.” Tech insisted.
“You coming with us?” Wrecker turned to Crosshair.
“None of this changes anything.” Crosshair said simply, which hurt your heart slightly.
“You offered us a chance, Crosshair. This is yours.” Hunter explained.
“I made my decision.”
“We want different things, Crosshair. That doesn’t mean that we have to be enemies.”
Crosshair turned away, which caused the others to head towards the ship. You stayed back, waiting for Omega as she looked over the city.
You reached for her shoulder, “C’mon…”
She looked at you before nodding and heading towards the ship, then she stopped, “Thank you for saving AZI.”
“Consider us even.” Crosshair responded.
“You know… you’re still they’re brother. You’re my brother too…”
Crosshair stayed silent as Omega went to the ship. He turned to look at you as you stood there.
“I never said it back…” You started, which caused him to furrow his brows. You looked down, “In the hotel room, before I left with Rex… you told me you loved me. I never got to say it back.” Tears started to pool in your eyes, “And… and I hope you know that I didn’t leave because I didn’t love you, Cross. I didn’t leave because I didn’t love any of you. I… I was selfish. That’s why I left. The kaminoans wanted me dead and after what I had said to the Chancellor… I knew I would be an enemy to the Republic… and the Empire.” You hesitated, looking back up at him, “I know it's too late, but I don’t want you to forget that I love you. I love you… and I know you won’t change your mind because of it and I’m not going to force you onto that damn ship.” Tears spilled wildly, “I-” You stepped towards him and cupped his face cautiously, but he melted into your touch, shutting his eyes. You couldn’t say anymore and he knew that. You moved and placed your lips against the corner of his, not wanting to feel the heartbreak of your lips touching for the first time in a long time but also for the last time once again. You pulled away and rushed into the ship, being caught into an embrace by Hunter, who looked back at his brother as the hatch closed and the Marauder took off.

Crossing Paths
Pairing: The Bad Batch x Reader (Polyam)

You and Omega were examining the multiple weapons the Batch was assigned to give Gobi Glie.
“Why does Gobi Glie need all this again?”
“Many people aren’t very welcoming towards the Empire.”
“But you said he was famous as a freedom fighter and the Empire hasn’t been around for that long… does that mean he was still fighting before that?”
You nodded, placing a blaster down and looking at her, “A lot of twi’leks were taken from their homes and put into slavery.”
“But didn’t the Republic enforce that liberation act all those years ago?”
“Yes, but only in the systems in the Republic, there are those in the outer rim and the Confederacy of Independent Planets that it didn’t apply to.”
“Oh,” Omega sat back in one of the seats, “Like Caetum?”
You nodded, picking up another blaster and examining it. Of course it still bothered you that the Empire had taken over Caetum and treated your people poorly.
“Y’know… the rest of the batch never really talked about you. I’ve only heard them murmur in their sleep… I asked once, but they all went silent. You… you were a slave once, weren’t you?”
You hesitated before nodding with a small hum.
“It’s nothing to be ashamed of, Lodestar.”
You looked at her with a smile before closing the weapons case and standing up. You then walked into the cockpit as Tech steered the ship, approaching the moon’s surface. There was a ship waiting already and you went to get your helmet.
“We’re reaching Ryloth, Omega.” You announced before you put your helmet on, so she nodded and went to the gunner’s mount to grab something. The ship then landed, so you opened the hatch to make it easier for the boys to move the weapons cases off the Marauder. You watched as they approached the awaiting twi’leks and eyed a much younger one with them. Omega must’ve seen her too because her head cocked up slightly as the young twi’lek approached the ship, admiring it.
“What kind of ship is this?” The young twi’lek wondered.
“It’s a modified Omicron Class Attack Shuttle.” Omega replied.
“Can I have a look inside?”
Omega looked at you, so you looked over to Hunter, who nodded gently. You looked down at her with a small nod so she got up and went in the ship with the girl at her tail. You stayed at the threshold of the hatch while the Batch talked with Gobi Glie. After a bit of conversation, Hunter turned to you and flicked his head to call you over. You stepped down from the ship and went to the small group, bowing your head shortly in greeting.
“This is our colleague: Lodestar.” Hunter introduced.
The twi’leks’ eyes widened slightly as they looked at you.
“You are Lodestar? The one who freed slaves in the Western Reaches?”
You nodded gently, “Sadly, my time of freeing has come to a delay.” You stated, your voice filtered by the modulator in your helmet.
“We understand. That is why we are here. The Empire has a… corrupt vision. Many on Ryloth do not want to be a part of it.”
You nodded, turning to see Omega and the young twi’lek exiting the ship. They rushed over and Omega stood by your side.
“Alright, we must get going. Thank you for making this drop. It was an honor meeting you all. Especially you, Lodestar.” Gobi Glie held out his hand and you grasped his forearm as he grasped yours in mutual respect. You urged Omega to follow her brothers and she waved.
“Bye, Hera.”
“Goodbye, Omega.”
You took a moment, watching as their ship made its way back to Ryloth before heading into the Marauder. You closed the hatch, then took off your helmet and took a deep breath. Your head dipped back slightly as you released it while closing your eyes.
“What is it?” Echo’s hushed voice came from beside you, which caused you to look at him.
“I’m alright…”
“Don’t think I didn’t hear you in the ‘fresher last night, mesh’la. There is something on your mind…”
You gave him a weak smile before cupping his face, “Always so caring…”
He reached his hand up to caress your arm, “You can tell me, my love.”
You took a moment before speaking, “I… I’m seen as this beacon of hope now… like how you all first saw me when I was just your communications officer…”
“Yes?”
“I hate to be the one to give people high expectations I cannot meet. To be the bringer of false hope…”
“There are some things we can and cannot do, mesh’la. You are just one person, you can’t change the course of one major thing like galactic liberation in one cycle… it takes time.”
You nodded, moving into his arms so he could embrace you, “I missed you, Eck.”
He chuckled, “I missed you too, mesh’la.”
You sighed gently, trying to make the hug last but not too long to delay him from any tasks. You finally let him go after another moment before he headed to the cockpit. Then you sat down as the ship left the moon’s orbit, setting course for Ord Mantell. Once it was safe to move around the cabin, you went towards the gunner’s mount to see what Omega was up to. You climbed the ladder carefully so as not to make too much noise. You popped your head up into the compartment and saw her close to the window, knees to her chest, pushing D-5 away from her as he rolled back as if it were a game of tag. You laughed gently as you made your way fully into the mount which caught her attention.
“That used to be my spot.”
“S-s-s-star!” D-5 bonked your arm and you pushed him back towards Omega, who smiled weakly before looking away, brows knitting together. You cocked your head in worry, moved closer to her, and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“What’s wrong?”
“I dunno… I just…”
You caressed her hair gently, “Feelin’ a bit lonely?”
“Yeah.” Omega sighed.
“Never really around anyone your age... must’ve been nice meeting Hera.”
“Yeah. It was.”
You smiled and wrapped your arm around her, “I understand. I lived on Kamino for nearly 10 years and I was only surrounded by Kaminoans and clones. There was barely anyone like me unless the Jedi or any senators were visiting..” You chuckled, “This past year was odd because everyone didn’t look the same.”
Omega laughed gently with a nod, leaning into you. You smiled before leaving a gentle kiss on her head.
“Don’t worry, Omega. There’s a whole Galaxy to explore… more people will cross our path.”
She nodded with a hum before speaking, “For now… this is good.”
“Yeah.” You whispered.
The two of you stayed there, talking with each other. You were telling her a story about one of the first foodfights you witnessed as their communications officer.
“I can’t believe Tech was the one who started it!” Omega giggled and you nodded.
“Trust me, I was just as shocked. But then Wrecker took the lead and the others followed after him.”
She laughed gently, but then Hunter called to the both of you from the cockpit. You looked at her in confusion, but she shrugged before heading out of the gunner’s mount with you. You entered the cockpit with her and saw a hologram of the young twi’lek, Hera. Omega approached, trying to listen to the transmission.
“Omega, it’s Hera! The Empire has taken my parents, and they are after me now too. I’m sending coordinates. Please, hurry. I need your help.”
Hunter paused the transmission and looked to Omega, “You gave her our comm channel?”
“For emergencies--and that sounded pretty urgent. We have to go!”
“Perhaps the situation isn’t as dire. Children often overreact.”
“No we don’t! You heard her, she needs us!”
Hunter placed a hand on her shoulder, “Omega… it’s a big galaxy. We can’t put ourselves on the line every time someone’s in trouble.”
“Why not?” Omega questioned, “Isn’t that what soldiers do?”
You looked at Hunter with a small smile as he looked at her in slight shock. You then looked back at Omega and urged her to come to you before crouching down as she stood in front of you.
“Omega, you know I understand your concern more than anyone… we’ll go to Ryloth, but if something happens and we can’t help, then you know what we have to do.”
She looked at you for a moment before determination filled her eyes, “We’ll be able to help. I know it.”
*******
The Havoc Marauder landed in a secluded part of the valley, which was filled with cargo. You all filed out of the ship and looked around.
“What is this place?” Wrecker wondered.
“I think it’s a base… probably something Gobi Glie established.” You explained.
There was then a sudden commotion and you looked to see a C1 astromech droid approaching, waving it’s extensions around frantically.
“What’s his problem?” Wrecker asked as it approached Omega.
“Thank you for coming.” Hera approached you all, “I wasn’t sure you would.”
“You said you were in trouble.” Omega responded.
“Care to tell us why the Empire is after you?” Hunter butt in.
“Because my father is Cham Syndulla.”
Tech looked up from his datapad and pushed his goggles up, “The freedom fighter?”
“Yes… this was his old command outpost. It’s where I’ve been hiding. The Empire’s begun targeting anyone loyal to him.”
“What do you want us to do?” Echo finally spoke up.
“Free my parents from the capital. That’s where they’re being held.”
Everyone looked to each other concerned, which caused Hera to become more desperate.
“They can pay you if you get them out! Please? I don’t have anyone else to ask…” She then turned to you, “You are the famous Lodestar. My father and Gobi were talking about you. Many of the twi’leks know of you because you have helped many of our kin… they would be forever grateful.”
You turned your head slightly to Hunter, who looked at you. You still had your helmet on, but you knew he could tell what you were considering. Then Omega went to Hera’s side and gave her a nod.
Hunter let out a small sigh before speaking, “Let’s see what we’re up against first, but no guarantees.”
Omega and Hera smiled, but you took off your helmet then looked at Omega. You approached the two girls and smiled sadly.
“Omega… remember what I said on the ship.”
She nodded, “I know.”
You looked to Hera, “As I told Gobi… I am not that liberator anymore. The Empire knows about me also, so it isn’t as safe for me to do things like that anymore.”
Hera nodded. You all then headed towards the Capitol.

You followed the Batch down the streets of Ord Mantell. You looked around, not very shocked at the look of the city. It wasn’t anything you haven’t seen before. Someone nudged you gently and you looked to see Omega walking beside you.
“Do you have any stories to share about the batch?”
You laughed with a nod, “Oh, I have loads.”
“Can you tell me some?”
“Oh I’m sure I’ll be able to tell you all of them.” You smiled, following her into the saloon.
“There you dopes are! And I see you got your girlfriend back! ‘Cause you’re with them, you work for me!”
You nodded, “Of course, Cid.”
She led Hunter to her office to talk to him and you joined the others at the bar.
“So this is where you’ve been staying…” You looked around, noticing how vacant it was, “Must be… soothing.”
Echo chuckled, “Nothing like 79’s if that’s what you mean.”
You nodded, leaning against the bar counter and looking at your teammates as they sat quietly. You furrowed your brows and looked at Omega who was sitting on the bar counter. She shrugged meekly with a smile.
“Yeah, we don’t do much unless Cid gives us another job.”
You shook your head, pushed yourself from the counter, and moved to help Omega down, “Do you guys just sleep on the ship?”
“We did at first, but then Cid was generous enough to give us a small flat above the parlor after I won her a whole bunch of credits. C’mon!”
You looked to the others, expecting them to follow.
“You guys go ahead. I’ll wait for Hunter.” Echo insisted with a weak smile. You nodded before being pulled away by Omega with Wrecker and Tech following. You all arrived at the small flat and you looked around, seeing the condition of it.
“Huh… why does this look familiar?” You smiled at Wrecker and Tech.
“We… haven’t had the time to clean.” Tech murmured sheepishly which caused you to laugh.
“Well, I’m glad some things haven’t changed.”
“Should we bring D-5 here?” Omega wondered.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. He’ll find a way to chuck himself out that window. I think it’s best that he stays on the Marauder.”
She nodded before going to a small room.
“Huh, I’m glad she has a space here.”
“We think she’s Cid’s favorite.”
You snorted with a nod, “I wonder why.”
“I’m sure Omega won’t mind sharing the room with you.”
You shook your head, “I couldn’t intrude like that…”
Tech came up behind you and placed his hands on your shoulders as you looked out the dirty window. His thumbs rubbed the top of your shoulder blades gently.
“Darling…”
“Yes?”
His hands trailed down your back before he wrapped his arms around your waist then placed his face into the crook of your neck.
“You missed me that much, Tech?”
“Of course.” He responded, voice muffled by the fabric of your shirt. You had taken off your armor on the ship and were left with the layers of clothes you wore under it. He held you close, but not too tight; however, his grasp was as if you were going to leave his arms forever. You knew the batch was greatly affected by your leaving and were scared to ask how they handled it. You placed a hand on his wrist and rubbed your thumb along it gently to reassure him that you were there to stay. The sound of the door opening and closing reached your ears. You both didn’t bother to move when Hunter’s voice filled the room.
“We have another job. Cid said we can leave tomorrow morning.”
“Where are we heading?”
“The Ryloth System. We have to make an artillery drop off to someone named Gobi Glie.”
You furrowed your brows as Tech finally let go so you both can look at Hunter and Echo, “Gobi Glie… he famously known as a freedom fighter amongst the twi’leks on Ryloth.”
“You met him?”
“No… just talk amongst the people I’ve worked with.” You explained, “Last time I heard is that the Empire has already moved in on Ryloth… one of their representatives is trying to get the planet to pledge themselves to the Empire.”
“Well, luckily we don’t have to deal with any of that. We’re meeting Glie on one of the moons of Ryloth, away from Empire surveillance.”
You nodded before turning to see Omega at the threshold of the small room and you smiled, “I’m sure you’re coming with us then?”
“Yup. I’m not supposed to be left out of any missions.” She stated proudly, which caused you to raise your brow and look at Hunter.
“That sounds like someone was trying to stop you from coming on missions…”
Hunter rolled his eyes, knowing you were teasing him for a time long ago when he tried banning you from missions with them, “Don’t worry, Omega, I’m familiar with what you’re talking about.”
“You better watch your next words, cyare…” Echo chuckled quietly.
“Hm… what’ll happen?” You wondered, taking a seat as your eyes were fixed on Hunter, who was quiet while narrowing his eyes. You smiled, “Everything alright… Sergeant?”
He hummed and turned slightly towards the door, “We should talk.”
You got up and waved to the others before following Hunter out of the flat. Once you were out of sight, he grasped your wrist and nearly dragged you through the bar. You found yourselves in a dark alley just next to the parlor, Hunter looming over you while checking to see if you had caught anyone’s attention. Once he confirmed the coast was clear, he turned to you and hooked your chin harshly.
“I should’ve known you’d become more of a brat.” He hissed, “Just because none of us were around to punish you…”
You couldn’t help but smirk as you looked up at his dark eyes, “Is that going to change, Sergeant?”
His hand made its way to your throat and he tisked, “Certainly, mesh’la.”
“Y’know, we never got that time after the mission in Ocsalev…” You whispered, glancing down at his lips, “Maybe we should make up for that.”
“You think I’ll give you that after you tease me in front of the boys? In front of Omega?”
You tried to give him the most innocent gaze you could muster, “I’m sorry, my love…”
He chuckled menacingly then moved his hand to cup between the nape of your neck and your shoulder so he could push you gently against the wall so your neck was exposed to him. You couldn’t help but close your eyes and bite back a whimper from the slight force against you. Oh how you’ve missed this… Hunter dipped his head down so his lips could find your skin. You held your breath as they made contact with the sensitive surface, raising your hand to grip a part of Hunter’s armor. He chuckled and pulled away slowly, relishing the pout on your face.
“We should get some rest before our drop off tomorrow…”
You huffed with a nod before following him back to the flat.
You brushed through Omega’s hair, trying to be gentle with the multiple knots that formed in her thick blonde hair.
“Stars, with Hunter caring about his hair so much, I’d expect him to help you with yours… or even Tech. Does he still style it every morning?”
“I dunno… why?”
“Don’t let that hairline fool you, that boy’s hair is naturally curly. He hates when it’s like that.”
She laughed, “No way!”
You nodded and placed the brush down, “I think all the knots are gone…”
“Won’t I have more when I wake up?”
“It won't be as bad.” You assured her as you got up to ready the bed for the both of you to sleep in.
“Lodestar?”
“Hm?”
“I was wondering…” She looked over to the bag with your clothes, “What’s that?”
You looked and saw the bra you were wearing under your day clothes. It was no surprise that Omega wasn’t familiar with many feminine things, she was mainly surrounded by men and Kaminoans most of her life. You smiled gently and sat with her.
“I use that to support my breasts.” You explained as plainly as you could. “Will… will I need one?”
“Well, since you have clone genetics… I don’t think that’ll be anytime soon, but don’t worry.”
“I heard… I heard that boys like them...breasts.” She stated meekly, getting familiar with the word.
“Yeah?”
“That’s weird.”
You laughed with a nod, “Yeah, it is.”
“I’m glad AZI taught me about reproduction and all that. I dunno if any of the batch would’ve been able to tell me.” Omega said as the both of you settled into the bed, “I can just imagine Wrecker stumbling over his words, or Tech creating a program on his holopad so he doesn’t have to tell me himself.”
The both of you giggled at the thought of the boys trying to explain such a topic.
“Do you know who told them?” Omega looked at you.
“Probably the Kaminoan teachers.”
“Who told you?”
“My father. He was a professor in one of the Republic academies.”
She nodded, her eyes getting droopy, “Thanks for coming with us, Lodestar…”
You looked at her as she drifted off before looking up at the ceiling. The place was silent except for Wrecker’s snores as he slept on the couch. It truly started to feel like home again and Omega just added to that warm feeling. However, your thoughts still clouded your mind, which would cause you to have horrible nightmares. You weren’t ready for Omega to witness that yet. You moved meticulously out of the bed and into the main room of the flat, seeing the rest of the batch asleep. Wrecker on the couch, Tech and Echo on the floor with a few pillows and blankets, and Hunter in a chair near the window. His head rested against the wall and he seemed not to stir. Of course due to his enhanced senses, he would hear things the rest of you could not, but by now he would be used to the sound of his brothers’ heartbeats along with yours and Omega’s. You stepped over Tech and Echo gently before stepping into the ‘fresher to wash your face so you could stay up. You leaned over the sink, breathed deeply and let the cold water sit on your face. Droplets dripped down your nose and chin and fell into the sink which was draining the water slowly. You looked up at the mirror quickly, but instead of your reflection you saw Crosshair’s, which made you gasp and jump back. You looked around the whole bathroom, which was empty except for you occupying it. You then looked back at the mirror and saw your dark reflection there, no more Crosshair. A shaky breath left your lungs and you slid against the wall before your bum made contact with the cold tile. You pulled your knees up to your chest, then hid your face in them. It wasn’t a few minutes or so when footsteps approached the refresher. Hunter stood in the threshold, having finally noticed the change in your heart rate and breathing. He crouched slowly before placing a hand on your arm.
“Mesh’la…”
“I shouldn’t have ran…” You started, not raising your head, “I should have told you all about the inhibitor chips. Then maybe Crosshair would be here…”
“Don’t say that, cyare.”
“All I cared about was Caetum and myself…”
“The Chancellor made it clear what he thought of Caetum… no one else would’ve helped them like you did.”
You looked up at him, “They didn’t even know who I am. They didn’t know I used to be one of them… I chose people who didn’t even know me over the people I love…”
“You would’ve died if you stayed.”
“You all thought I was dead anyway and Crosshair is still with the Empire.”
“Sh…” Hunter moved to hold you, “K’uur…”
You sank into his arms and let him hold you for the rest of the night.

You were cleared to go back on missions with the Batch and now you’re off to Jakku for a simple assignment. Of course you still had your own assignment to take care of, which was going through Fives and Kix’s files. You usually sifted through your holopad while the batch was out or sleeping so not to cause too much suspicion. You knew they liked Rex, but they had boundaries, especially when it came to you. While looking at the different missions Kix and Fives went on, you were only met with dead ends. There had to be a reason they would “act out” as Rex described it. You knew this was important to Rex, but also to you. This signified something about the way the republic had flaws to its system, which could result in absolute downfall.
You were distracted with your holopad when a hand was placed on your shoulder as you sat in the cockpit.
“It seems like you can’t take your eyes off that thing, mesh’la.” Echo murmured.
It was only you and him on the ship because the others worried about how the sand would affect Echo’s mechanical legs.
“I…” You started, placing your holopad in your lap, “...just needed to get some work done.”
He nodded and hooked your chin gently, making your head raise so you could look at him, “Don’t work too hard, cyare. You just got back onto the field.”
You nodded before placing the holopad on a small ledge behind you then turned back to him, trailing your hands up his torso.
“I know…” You whispered, “But you got back into action after the others saved you from Skako Minor…”
“I had a small break, I must admit.” He chuckled gently, grabbing your wrists and wrapping your arms around him, “But that’s different.”
“How?” You murmured, leaning into his hand as he cupped your face.
“Always so curious, my love.” He whispered before crouching down to meet your eyes, then kissing your lips tenderly.
He tried to pull away, but you grabbed the back of his neck and deepened the kiss. This caused him to grunt quietly into your mouth before letting his tongue enter your mouth. You whimpered from the contact, stood while bringing him with you, and turned so he could sit in the chair; then you climbed into his lap which caused him to gasp gently. You pulled away with a small laugh, hands still placed on the back of his neck.
“Sorry…” You murmured, “Ever since I… I mean when I…”
“I know, mesh’la.” He whispered, looking out the window of the cockpit, “They might not be back for a while…”
You furrowed your brows while looking at him, “So…?”
He looked back at you with a smile, “I wanna try something…”
Before you could say anything else, Echo pressed a button which made the back of the chair lean back in a lying position. You let out a small yelp since you were leaning against him, so both of your bodies moved with the chair. Echo let out a chuckle as he looked at your confused face.
“Echo, what are you doing?”
His face turned serious and he brought his hand up to move some hair from your face, “Mesh’la, I can’t pleasure you in most of the ways Crosshair and Hunter have…”
“It’s okay, Eck…”
“But there is one way I would like to try with you, if you’ll let me.”
You nodded with a smile before sitting up with him. You reached for the zipper of his blacks, but he stopped you.
“No… just take your pants and underwear off, my love.”
You nodded, choosing not to ask any further questions. You stood from the chair and did as he requested. Luckily, your tunic was long enough to cover your now exposed ass and cunt. Echo relished the sight before him, a smile forming on his lips.
“So beautiful…” He murmured, which caused you to look away all flustered.
Echo then moved further down the chair with his butt at the very edge.
“Come here, love.”
You nodded and made your way towards him as he laid down.
“Place your knees on either side of my head…” He instructed, catching you off guard.
“Over your face?”
“If you don’t want-”
“I do.” You stated quickly, getting aroused at the idea.
You made your way over his body before finding your position and bunching your tunic over your thighs.
“Is this alright, Eck?”
He didn’t respond with words, but with wrapping his arms around your thighs and bringing your wet cunt to his mouth. A loud gasp escaped your lips from the contact. Echo’s tongue made intricate patterns around your clit, which made you start trembling above him.
“Farrick, Eck!” You cried out, gripping the headrest of the chair.
There was rapid beeping from the console, which was right in front of you. You looked up and saw the light on the communications module blinking.
“Answer it.” Echo ordered, having pulled away for a moment before returning his mouth to your dripping entrance.
You let out a groan and reached to press the button, “You gu-uys alright?”
A small hiccup interrupted your question when Echo flicked your clit with his tongue. A chuckle erupted in him which caused small vibrations to enter your cunt and you to bite back a gasp.
“We might take longer than expected! Where’s Echo?!” Hunter responded, his voice fighting against the wind going through his communicator.
“Taking a leak. What do you need?”
“When he’s done, tell him to adjust the ship’s engine flaps so not too much sand gets into them!”
“Will do, be-be safe.” You responded before quickly hanging up and whimpering loudly, “Eck!”
He pulled away with a laugh and rubbed your thigh gently, “Shall I stop?”
You shook your head pathetically, which signalled him to place his mouth back onto your cunt. You tried to refrain from moving your hips so as not to hurt him.
“Echo…” You gasped, feeling a knot forming in you.
“Hold on for me, mesh’la.” He murmured, “Just a bit longer.”
You held back a cry as he intensified the movement of his tongue and lips. You reached down gently and gripped his left hand due to the overwhelming feeling of an orgasm approaching. Echo used his metal hand to push your free hand closer to your clit, signalling you to help reach your peak. Your fingers moved quickly over your sensitive bud, which helped bring you over the edge. You let out a loud cry as you finally let go of the orgasm that built in your stomach. He helped you ride it out before slowly moving the chair back to its upright position and helping you move onto his lap safely. You curled up into his chest, trying to steady your breathing. Echo used his regular hand to rub your back and make small patterns so you can calm down.
“So good for me, love.” He murmured into your hair with a small smile.
“I’m tired.” You said quietly.
“I know, mesh’la… rest now.” He coerced you to close your eyes, and before you knew it, you were out like a light.
The start of the ship woke you up and you found yourself in one of the bunks. Echo must have put your underwear and pants back on you, so you were saved from the embarrassment you would have felt if you didn’t have them on. You got out of the bunk and found the batch in the cockpit, talking.
“Remind me to never sit there again.” Tech muttered which caused Wrecker to smack his head.
“You’re just jealous because you haven’t had her yet!”
“Have you?”
“Not yet, but I don’t care!” Wrecker laughed, “I think it’s best she doesn’t do anything with me yet ‘cause of my genetic enhancements!”
Tech scoffed, “Genetic enhancements…”
You stood at the threshold as you watched them talk, Echo turned his seat and looked at you with a smile.
“There you are…”
You immediately went to him and placed yourself in his lap. He wrapped a secure arm around you and placed a gentle kiss on your head.
“You alright, my love?” He whispered.
You nodded before whispering, “I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
“Of course not.” He murmured, turning the chair towards the console and pressing a few buttons. You averted your eyes towards Tech, who’s brows were furrowed and attention towards one of his devices. There was obviously something bothering him, but you decided not to pry until you got back to Kamino.

You woke up to the sun reaching your eye-line. It was an odd thing to wake up to. The sun barely shined into the flat Cid was letting the Batch borrow, and there was barely any sunlight on Kamino to wake you up either. You sat up in the bed and let the silk sheets pool around. If it wasn’t obvious already, you had stayed the night at Roland’s, deeming it a bit late to buy off a speeder and head back to Cid’s. Beeping came from the communicator of your armor, which made your heart skip a beat.
“Ah, kriff…” You muttered before getting up and grabbing it, “Hello?”
“Where are you?” Hunter asked with a hiss in his voice, “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine… I’m still in town.”
He sighed and you could basically hear him pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration, “Just… try to get back before the sun is at its highest point or else Echo is gonna reign hellfire on the city to find you.”
You nodded, “Yeah… got it.”
The communicator went dead as Roland walked in wearing a new set of clothes.
“Good morning, how did you sleep?”
You smiled while still looking at the communicator, tossing it slightly in your hands, “Like a baby…”
He observed your movements and his face fell, “Duty calls?”
You nodded, “I should go.”
“Alright… I’ll have a few of my guards escort you. Get ready, I’ll be waiting downstairs.”
“Okay…” You whispered as he walked out.
*******
You made your way out of the building and found a few guards waiting in a speeder.
“Where’s Roland?”
“Dealing with some business. He said to take you back to Cid’s.” One of them explained which caused you to nod and get into the speeder. It wasn’t long until the speeder pulled up in front of Cid’s parlor, where Hunter was talking with Echo and Wrecker. You hopped out of the speeder and waved them off before they pulled out and turned the corner.
“Ad’ika! There you are!” Wrecker grinned before picking you up into a tight hug.
“Hi, Wreck.” You smiled as he set you down and followed them inside.
Tech was sitting at the bar with Omega, showing her something on his datapad. He glanced up at you, then pulled out his blaster and aimed in your direction. The others had done so and were facing the threshold, which made you turn. Roland was standing there in one of his guard’s uniforms, holding the helmet under his arm.
“I’m not here to take your things again, don’t worry.” He said nonchalantly.
“Why are you here?” Cid wondered, leaning against the bar.
He didn’t bother to answer her as he turned his attention to you, “I had to see you were safe…”
You shook your head, “You shouldn’t be here…” You urged back into the threshold, “Please, go…”
“Lodestar…” He whispered, stopping your motions and holding your hands, “You’re welcome anytime, you know that?”
You nodded, not looking into his eyes, “I know…”
“Be careful.” He whispered, kissing your knuckles and leaving the parlor.
You stood in the threshold for a moment before making your way into the parlor.
“So you’re working for anyone now?” Cid asked maliciously.
“I didn’t do a job for him…”
“Well, then what the hell were you doing?”
“Nothing. If I did a job, I would’ve given the money to you.” You admitted, placing your helmet down.
“What did he want?”
“Nothing, he has no interest in your parlor anymore.” You murmured.
“If I catch you slipping up again, you’re out! I don’t care what these boys say!” Cid stated which caused you to nod. A hand was placed on your shoulder and you turned to see Tech.
“Darling-”
“You’re right…” You said plainly, “You shouldn’t trust me.”
“Lodestar-” Echo started.
“I… should have never left with you.”
“Don’t say that, ad’ika.” Wrecker pleaded.
“Cyare…” Hunter murmured, going up to you, “you’re struggling… with something many people struggle with. We aren’t gonna give up on you just like that…”
“Tech was drunk, and whether he likes it or not… he’s not always right.” Echo insisted.
“For once, I agree with that statement.” Tech remarked.
“Please, don’t go.” Omega whispered, “You’re our family. We need you.”
You looked at her for a moment before nodding. She hugged you tight and you hugged her back gently.
“Okay! Enough with the hugging! It’s hurting my eyes!” Cid groaned, “I guess you can stay in touch with Roland, be a double agent or somethin’.”
You smiled gently, but then Omega spoke up.
“What was with the hand kissing thing?”
“Yeah…” Hunter crossed his arms,”What was that?”
You rolled your eyes, “Nothing happened. I guess… he just has slight feelings?”
“Slight?! When we were held hostage, he couldn’t keep himself away from her!” Omega laughed.
“Omega!” You exclaimed.
“You can stay friends with him… but make sure he isn’t too comfortable.” Echo instructed.
“C’mon… you really think I’d give up the four of you for one of him? It’s gonna take more than sweet talk and a four course meal to get out of your hooks.” You crossed your arms. Wrecker laughed and scooped you into his arms.
“That’s our girl!”
All of you headed towards the Marauder and you looked around in confusion.
“Wrecker, where are you taking me?”
“Ah, we have a mission!”
“Seriously? Huh, I guess your enhancements help you recover from hangovers quicker…”
Wrecker set you down once you were all loaded into the ship.
*******
You were looking over some data on the computer while Omega was working on some wiring on Gonky and Hunter was sitting next to you, flipping his knife around.
“We’re being hailed.” Wrecker called out, “It’s from Rex!”
You all looked at each other before heading into the cockpit. Echo opened the transmission on the projector and you saw Rex in a large cloak.
“Hello, boys. Sorry to get right to it, but I could use your help.”
“What do you need, Captain?” Hunter wondered.
“I’ve received a distress signal from a clone trooper, but I’m a bit tied up at the moment to retrieve him.”
“You want us to recover a reg?”
“He’s an old friend, and he’s in trouble. I need you to get him out.”
“Out of what exactly?”
Beeping went off in the transmission, which caused Rex to get frantic, “Can’t talk right now. Sending you his signal. I’ll be in touch.” Then the transmission ended.
“What was that about?” asked Wrecker.
“The distress signal sent by CC-5576 is originating from Daro: a terrestrial planet in the Outer Rim with no known settlements or installations.
“What’s he doing all the way out there?” You wondered.
“Well, does it matter?” Echo asked.
“We’ve gone on missions before without intel, this is stretching it.”
“Rex wouldn’t ask us for help if it wasn’t urgent.” Echo insisted.
“Echo’s got a point.” Wrecker agreed.
“May I remind you that we are in the middle of a job for Cid. If we deviate, we will not be compensated. No money means no food.”
“Oh yeah, Tech’s got a point.” Wrecker said.
“But Rex’s friend is in trouble, that’s more important than getting paid.” Omega butted in.
“Well, the kids got a point.” Wrecker finalized, which caused you to chuckle.
Hunter hesitated before having a small staredown with Echo. He sighed gently, “Lodestar, what’s your say?”
You sat back, “I am ‘Lodestar the Liberator’… you already know my answer, love.”
Hunter nodded, “Fine. We’ll check things out.”
You all nodded in agreement and prepped for Daro.
*******
Tech landed the ship and you all trailed out, following Tech as he tracked the clone’s signal. You looked around, staying behind the group in case of any surprises.
“The signal is coming from here.” Tech announced, which caused Omega to go ahead and find the beacon connected to a large log.
“Found it!” She handed it to Tech.
“Where’s the reg?” Wrecker looked around. Hunter took off his helmet and looked at the ground. You crouched when you felt some uneven earth.
“Hunter… track marks.” You announced, “Fresh… maybe from last night or early this morning.”
“We’re too late… the reg’s been caught.” Hunter concluded, “He was running, then he got dragged this way.”
You all followed him as he moved further towards the mountain just nearby.
“There’s something here.” Hunter looked up at the mountain.
“You’re right. There’s something jamming my signal.”
“I thought you said there was nothing here!” Wrecker exclaimed.
“That data appears to be inaccurate.” Tech stated.
“Wrecker, you, Omega, and Lodestar head back to the ship.”
“I thought-” Omega started.
“Coming here was up for debate. This is not.” Hunter said sternly before turning to you, “I need you to help fly the ship just in case Wrecker needs to bring in heavy fire.”
You nodded and urged Omega to follow Wreck back to the Marauder. Before you went to join them, you grabbed Hunter’s helmet and bumped it with his gently.
“Be careful…”
He nodded before urging his brothers to the mountain. You watched them for a moment before heading back to the cruiser.
Omega paced in the shuttle while waiting for her brothers to come back. You were adjusting the scope on your helmet while Wrecker sat back in one of the chairs. “Meg… come here.” You called, which caused her to hesitate before she stood in front of you. You let out a small laugh and caressed her cheek, “Y’know who you remind me of?” “Who?” She asked grumpily.
“Me.” You smiled, “I was never allowed to go with the others on the field… they made sure I stayed on the ship.”
“They’ve been on so many missions, how could you stand it?”
“I trusted them and they trusted me… of course, I was worried, but they ended up coming back at the end…”
She groaned, “I’m a part of the team now! I should be a part of the action!”
“Dealing with bugs on Ord Mantell wasn’t action? Or co-piloting a shuttle?”
She sighed, “It was, but I want more!”
You chuckled, “You really are a clone at heart… always ready for the action.” You sighed and cupped her face, “But even clones your age need some preparation and training before going into big battles.”
“The clones who are younger than me look as old as Rex!”
You shook your head, “Patience, ‘Meg… there will be a time when you will lead them… right now, we wait.”
She sighed and nodded, going back to her pacing. You went back to cleaning up your armor as you all waited. Eventually, you were in the main part of the ship tending to D-5.
“Maybe let’s not leave you in the mount next time, D-5.”
“D-d-d-damaged?”
“It’s not bad, buddy. Your balance module is just out of place again, and you bent your antenna.”
You finished fixing him and set him next to Gonky, “Stay there, okay?”
“O-o-okay.”
You shook your head and spoke to yourself, “Why do I expect him to listen?”
You made your way into the cockpit, seeing Wrecker and Omega doing the same thing.
“How can you be so calm?” Omega burst at Wrecker.
“I’m recharging! I’ll be ready to go when they call!”
Suddenly, the comm channel opened, “Wrecker! Omega! Lodestar! Meet us at our location!”
Omega got into the pilot's seat with Wrecker, “We’re on our way!”
You stood behind them, hanging on to the back of the chairs.
“Focus, Omega! Stay steady!” You instructed.
“Got it! We are on approach!”
You headed towards the hatch and opened it, pulling out you blaster and stunning the troopers behind them.
“Meg! Get closer!” You called, hanging onto the threshold. Wrecker came to join you as you helped Tech and the other clone onto the ship. You heard an approaching ship.
“We’ve got incoming, 6 o’clock!” You called to Tech, who took over the ships controls.
“Wrecker, get on the gunner’s mount!” Tech ordered. You nodded to Wrecker as you shot at the incoming troopers. You hopped off the ship to help them fend off the attackers as the ship swooped out to avoid the airfighters.
“I said stay on the ship!” Hunter ordered.
“Well, do you want me to jump off the mountain and fly to them?!”
He shook his head as you helped Echo fight off some troopers.
“We’re coming back around! Be ready!” Tech announced on comms
The ship pulled up and Echo jumped onto the ship as you and Hunter shot at the troopers. You looked back to make sure he got on safe, getting hit in the arm in the process.
“Ah!” You were flung back by the blast, losing your balance.
“Lodestar!”
Tech maneuvered the ship to try and catch you, but to no avail, you were already off the platform. Hunter tried to jump for the edge of the ship to catch you, but he missed and he too fell down the cliff.
“Hunter! Lodestar!” Omega called, but Echo grabbed her and urged her into the ship.
As Hunter fell, he tried to dampen his fall by latching into the mountain with his knife, but it wouldn’t hold. He had landed just before a clearing and looked up to see where you fell.
“Lodestar!” He called, “Lodestar!”
“Multiple system failures, we can't take anymore hits!” Tech said on comms.
“Get the ship out of here! I have to find Lodestar and we’ll get back to you!”
“Negative, the odds of escape are not in your favor!”
“I’m not leaving her behind! Go Tech! That’s an order!”
He looked ahead, seeing a shuttle land multiple troopers approaching.
“No! Turn around!” Omega cried, “Hunter, tell them to come back! Order them to come back!”
“Sorry, kid… I can’t do that…” Hunter sighed before sheathing his dagger and surrendering to the troopers.
*******
Crosshair arrived with his squad and looked to the commanding officer who approached him.
“Commander, the other clones got away but we have their leader.”
“What about the other girl?”
“Troopers reported she fell off the cliff. She’s most likely dead.”
“And if she isn’t? That woman has connections all over the outer rim. Do you want the Pykes or the Hutts to be involved with our affairs?”
“N-no, sir.”
“My squad and I will find her with help from your troopers. Get a shuttle ready.” Crosshair ordered and watched as the commanding officer rushed off.
“Commander, do we really need the girl? Isn’t the leader enough?”
Crosshair sneered at his squad member, “Like I said. She has connections in the outer rim. She’s valuable. We aren’t leaving here without her.”

You woke up before any of the others. Even Hunter was knocked out and didn’t even stir from you getting out of the bed which you were sharing with Tech and Crosshair. You sighed quietly while stepping out onto the balcony the small inn had provided. Even if it was early in the morning, there were still speeders and skriffs racing past the buildings. The sun was barely up, so you enjoyed seeing the light hit the buildings and rise against their facades. You took a moment to close your eyes and took a deep breath. You relished the sounds of the city and the feel of the air, knowing this was possibly your last day in the republic. A hand made its way to your waist and pulled you flush against their body. Soft lips reached your ear.
“Up early, sarad…” Crosshair whispered, kissing the side of your head.
“Yes…” You murmured, eyeing the temple in the distance.
“Caetum is still on your mind…”
You reached for his hand on your waist and held it tight, “Yes… and more.”
He moved to look at you, “It’ll be alright… the Republic will take the Separatists down…”
You looked at him, taking in every feature of his face. Using your eyes to trace the tattoo lines on his right eye. It started to hit you that you had to say goodbye to him and the others. This feeling was worse than coming close to death, which was something you have already experienced. You hadn’t realized that tears started to fall until Crosshair’s eyes changed with worry and he raised his hands to cup your face.
“Sarad-”
“I-I’m sorry.” You whispered, trying to pull away, “I-I-”
“Sh… ad’ika, what is it?” Crosshair urged, grabbing your wrists to keep you close, “My love-”
You shook your head and looked up to him, “I’m so sorry, Cross-”
There was knocking at the door and you quickly moved to answer it while wiping the tears away. The door slid open with a simple push of a button to reveal Rex standing there in his armor. He took off his helmet and nodded to greet you.
“Sorry if I woke you.”
You shook your head, “I was already up. What is it?”
“Senator Amidala has offered to have breakfast with you to discuss the Caetum situation.”
You nodded, “Of course. Let me get into some proper attire.” You moved, “You can wait inside if you’d like.”
He nodded gratefully and stepped into the room. The other boys started to get up and Wrecker saw Rex.
“He-ey! Isn’t it our favorite reg!” Wrecker laughed, hugging him tight.
“It’s good to see you too, Wrecker.” Rex groaned, “I see you had drinks at 79’s.”
“Saw you there! Why couldn’t you stay?”
“Business.” Rex stated plainly as Wrecker set him down. You finished changing and fixed your hair to look presentable for the Senator.
“Mesh’la? What’s happening?”
You looked to Echo with a small smile, “I have a chance to speak with Senator Amidala of Naboo about Caetum. She’s trying to bring the situation to the Galactic Senate’s attention.”
The others nodded, but Crosshair was standing to the side with a toothpick in his mouth.
“Rex is taking me to her so we can have breakfast and talk.”
“Are we invited?!” Wrecker asked excitedly.
Rex chuckled, “I think she’ll be able to provide food, but it’s best you stay out so she can have privacy with your communications officer.”
“Don’t understand why we can’t be involved.” Crosshair remarked quietly.
You sighed and looked at Rex, “I’m ready when you are.”
He nodded, “You boys get ready and meet there. I’ll send you the place. It’s best if you wait outside though.”
“Got it.” Hunter replied.
Before you could walk out, Crosshair caught your arm and pulled you to him. His lips immediately made contact with yours and you took a moment before pulling away.
“I’ll be fine. And I’m sure you don’t need to worry about Rex.” You laughed gently.
“I love you…” He murmured which caught you by surprise. You pulled away before following Rex, looking back at the boys then leaving the room
*******
You sat with the Senator, laughing about one of the missions you were telling her about.
“How did they manage to pull that off?” Padme laughed.
“Oh, Wrecker isn’t afraid to do anything. He’s always up for the extremes.”
She sighed and drank from her glass before setting it down.
“So, what else can you tell me about Caetum?”
“From the older people there, they would tell me about what Caetum was like before enslavement. It was filled with vast forests and the mines held beautiful jewels. The jewels were similar to kyber crystals in a way, holding energy in them…”
“That’s why Caetum was targeted.”
“Yes, but I don’t think there is much left for the separatists to use…”
She nodded, but before she could speak again, the doors opened to reveal Captain Typho.
“Senator… the Supreme Chancellor is here. Also, Captain Rex and Clone Force 99 are waiting outside along with General Kenobi, General Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano.”
You furrowed your brows and turned to her. She was just as confused as you were.
“Clear this up, please,” She ordered the servants nearby, “Let them in, Captain.”
“All of them?”
She nodded and you stood next to her as Captain Typho opened the doors. You saw the Supreme Chancellor get escorted in by his guards with Rex, General Skywalker, General Kenobi, and who you assumed was Ahsoka Tano. Then the Batch followed in with their helmets hooked under their arms. You let out a shaky breath as you saw them, feeling a change in the air.
“Supreme Chancellor.” Senator Amidala greeted as you both bowed, “I was not expecting your company.”
“I heard you were still concerned about the raid on Caetum.”
“Yes. I am speaking with someone who knows the world well.” She introduced you, “She was freed by General Windu all those years ago along with the other slaves.”
“Ah yes, I remember that mission well, I helped give the order in sending the troops.”
You bowed your head politely, “I thank you for your action, Supreme Chancellor, and hope you have a similar mindset to help my people once again.”
“You’ve come a long way from a slave to a Republic Officer. I’m sure your family is very proud.”
“I hope they are, Supreme Chancellor. They, unfortunately, did not live to see the freedom of their people.”
“My deepest apologies, officer. However, the Galactic Senate has not found any immediate priority to dispatch troops to Caetum at this time.”
You furrowed your brows, trying to hold back your tongue.
“Please, Chancellor, she has provided much information about how Caetum has helped the Republic in the past.”
“The past, yes. Due to the enslavement depleting the resources Caetum had once provided, we have turned to other planets.”
“Please, Supreme Chancellor, Caetum was a prosperous planet once and can be so again for more aid from the Galactic Senate.”
“I’m very sorry, young lady, but I see no use of wasting troops.”
“Please, Chancellor,” General Kenobi spoke up, “I do believe Caetum can be saved and rebuilt to help prosper the Republic, maybe even build a new temple for the new younglings and padawans being recruited from many different systems. Even Master Yoda has heard about the raids on Caetum and remembers thei time before enslavement.”
“I am sorry, Master Kenobi, but it is simply out of my hands. The Galactic Senate will not agree-”
“In all matters, you are the senate are you not?”
“I’m sorry.” The Supreme Chancellor turned to you.
“You overrule any of what the ambassadors or the senators choose as the Supreme Chancellor. I sense you can see the points Senator Amidala and General Kenobi have brought up, can you not simply dispatch troops on your own accord as you have done with many missions before?” You queried with slight force, frustration filling your chest.
“I know you are concerned, young lady, but my decision is to keep the Republic safe and keep away from those planets not in line with trade routes in the outer rim. If there are any attempts from those in the Republic to help Caetum, it will simply be ruled as treason to mine and the Galactic Senate’s eyes.”
Once he said that, something clicked off in your brain and you reached for the Republic brooch that decorated your uniform.
“If that is your ruling, Supreme Chancellor, then I am no longer an officer for the Republic forces.” You placed the pin on the table before turning to him, “Now, I am a simple woman trying to do what's right for her people.”
“Mesh’la-” Hunter started, but Crosshair stopped him.
“You give up your position for a useless planet?” The Chancellor laughed, but you simply turned and bowed to him.
“I am grateful to have had this time to discuss Caetum with you Supreme Chancellor. It has been an honor serving the Republic.” You turned to Padme, “Thank you for your consideration, Senator Amidala, but I see no aid will come from the Senate today.”
You turned to walk out, but stopped to look at the Batch.
“Please… don’t do this…” Hunter whispered, “We’ll find another way…”
You shook your head with a sad smile, “No… your duty is to keep going. I have found a way and it is this…” You raised your hand up and saluted them, “Clone Force 99… It has been an honor serving you as your communications officer.”
The boys started to deny your farewell in overlapped talking but you shook your head and headed towards the door.
“Wait,” Chancellor Palpatine called, “Let my guards escort you. A shuttle is waiting just outside. They can escort you to a docking bay.”
They arrived by your side and started to walk out.
“Ad’ika!” Wrecker called out, but the other boys held him back, “AD’IKA!”
You took a shaky breath and pressed your beacon device which was connected to Fennec Shand…
It was time.
The boys watched from the window as you were escorted to the shuttle.
“How could you just let her go?!” Echo shouted angrily, pushing at Hunter, “We should be right by her side!”
“That is not our orders.”
“I don’t care!” Echo cried, but Rex stopped him from leaving.
“She made her choice, Echo.”
Wrecker still watched, hoping you would turn back to look at him. He watched as you boarded the shuttle and it started to rise from the ground. However, before it could take off, the ship exploded and burst into flames. Everyone was rendered speechless except for the batch, who cried out and rushed outside.
“MESH’LA!” Echo called frantically, pushing through the broken debris, “MESH’LA!”
Tech used his device to scan for life forms in the wreckage while Hunter, Crosshair, and Wrecker looked through the broken parts of the ship.
“Sarad!” Crosshair cried out brokenly, trying to find you.
Hunter started to get extremely overstimulated, but finding you was his only priority. He looked through the debris and even over the ledge of the landing platform in hopes you fell and were caught by a nearby speeder.
“LODESTAR!” Wrecker called, “LODESTAR!”
He fell to his knees. His brothers rushed to him as he sobbed while banging on the ground. Rex had followed them out and was nearly frozen with shock. He couldn’t believe what just happened…
*******
“Do you think they fell for it?” Fennec downed her drink.
You nodded, “Yeah… good catch by the way.” You chuckled weakly, “I actually thought I was gonna die.”
She shrugged, “You knew I’d follow through with the plan.”
You hummed, still thinking about your boys.
“They’ll get over it. Don’t worry.” She looked down at the table, “What are you gonna do with that?”
You sighed and reached for your drink before plopping the device into the liquid which caused it to spark.
“I… don’t exist anymore… and the money is all yours now.”
“Really? All of it?”
“Maybe leave me a bit so I can start new…”
“Clean slate?”
“Yeah.”
“I can help you, some people in the guild will be able to make you untraceable.”
“Still haven’t thought of a new name for myself…” You whispered.
Fennec smirked, “I like the nickname they gave you…” She raised her glass to you, “Lodestar.”

You rushed through the forest quickly, speaking into your com device.
“I’m making my way to you! Be ready!” You instructed.
“Give me a sec.”
“You have 3 feet to be ready, I’m nearly there!”
“I-”
You burst through the foliage of the forest and grabbed the blaster from your teammate’s waist before shooting the enemies chasing you. You huffed and glared back at them.
“You told me you were good at this!”
“Look, I don’t do short distances!” He tried to explain.
“You’re a damn sniper, snipers do any distance with a clear shot!” You turned to the ship to another teammate, “Everyone on board?”
“Locked and loaded. This might be our last batch for a while…”
“I know.” You sighed, “Get on, we’re leaving.”
“When the Empire said they were gonna make things better, I expected Caetum to be up and running smoothly.”
“The Empire is all the same as the others who tried to keep ‘order’.” You muttered while taking off your helmet, “Let’s just get out of here.”
“This really was your home planet?” A teammate queried.
You nodded, holding onto something as the ship took off. Once you were steady in open space, you moved to the storage part of the ship where there were multiple people huddled together.
“Is everyone alright?” You hung a small lantern to illuminate their faces more.
“Thank you…” An elderly woman said and you smiled, holding her hands in yours as you crouched down.
“I wish I could’ve saved more…”
“You have done so much for us… your name already lingers…”
“The Great Lodestar.” A man spoke up, “I heard from one of the troopers that other planets were talking about you…”
“I… have freed others, but it’s still not enough.”
“It takes time.” The woman assured, “Go and rest.”
You took a moment before leaving the storage room and making your way towards the cockpit.
“We’ve set a course for the Ocsalev System. Ready when you are, Lodestar.”
You nodded, “Make the jump.”
*******
Hunter jumped slightly from a dream in one of the chairs in front of the computers. It was always a constant dream about you… his cyare. He was sure the other boys had such dreams too. It took nearly a month for Wrecker to stop screaming your name in his sleep…
“Hunter? You okay?” Omega’s voice caught his attention as she made her way towards him from the gunner’s mount.
He nodded with a gentle smile before sitting straight up. She furrowed her brows for a moment before humming and opening the cockpit door, which urged Hunter to enter also.
“We’re almost at the coordinates Cid gave us. Odd, she never sets us up on missions where we need help from other mercenaries.” Tech remarked.
“We’re not mercenaries.” Hunter muttered but Omega giggled.
“I think you have to face it, Hunter, we are.”
He sighed before sitting in his seat as Wrecker walked in.
“We almost there yet?”
“Just approaching, it’s best you sit. No need for another head injury.” Echo joked.
“We don’t have to worry about no inhibitor chip anymore!”
“But we do have to worry about how much bacta and ice packs we use on you.” Tech rolled his eyes while easing the ship into the planet’s atmosphere, “Gentlemen, and madam, welcome to the Ocsalev System.”
They landed the Havoc Marauder at a simple docking bay before making their way into the city.
“Stay close, kid.” Hunter ordered as he led the group through the busy streets.
It was fairly crowded with people going in and out of buildings or rushing through the streets. Omega admired the commotion and looked around, but the boys made sure to urge her through the crowds. To her, this city was very different from Ord Mantell, having a lack of technology and more of a natural kick to it. Houses were built around trees and into the side of the mountain, which made Omega want to explore more.
“The device says to go in here to find this so-called ‘Kapu’.”
The batch nodded before making their way into the small shop, seeing it crowded with many different weapons and droid parts. There was an alien at the head of the shop, which boggled Omega.
“What is he? He has so many arms.”
“A besalisk…” Echo explained quietly, “The female ones have up to eight arms.”
They approached the counter as the besalisk worked on a small device, using its multiple arms to hold parts and tools. Hunter cleared his throat.
“We’re looking for Kapu. We were sent by Cid.”
The besalisk nodded while looking up at them, “Clones? Huh, never thought Cid would give clones a chance!” He laughed, “Yeah, I’m Kapu. Come with me and we’ll meet the person who’ll be joining you on your mission.” He urged them with his multiple arms while walking through the back door of the shop. There was a small transport waiting with an Ewok driver. The ewok started yelling in its native language toward Kapu.
“I told you they’d get here when they get here! And here they are! Now come on! Let’s go!” Kapu got into the passenger's seat while the Batch piled up in the back, “Better hold on to something, he’s blind in one eye.”
The batch looked at each other nervously before the transport speeded off out of the city. They arrived at the base of the mountain and followed Kapu towards the small house built into it.
“She just came back from a mission, so let’s hope she’s in a good mood.” He knocked on the door, “I’m coming in, kid!”
He swung the door open, hitting a small droid.
“Aw gee, D-5, what were you doing there?!” Kapu groaned, picking the droid up.
The batch looked around the small house. It was hardly full with anything but basic living necessities. Omega immediately noticed the armor sitting on the table, admiring the visor of the helmet. She picked it up and looked at it closely.
“Wow, this helmet is really similar to yours, Echo! But it has some modifications similar to Tech’s, like the mouth guard, and a sniper’s glass like Crosshairs.”
Kapu placed the droid down and called out again, “Girl, where are you?!”
“I’m here, hold on!” You groaned, “I literally just got back, can’t I have some time?”
“No, boys from Cid are here.”
“Cid? Since when did you start taking jobs from Cid again?”
“Just get out here!” Kapu scolded, sitting down to look at D-5.
You walked through the back door and looked at him, “Did you break my droid again?!”
“He was in the way. These are Cid’s boys.”
You looked up and your breath caught in your throat from the sight in front of you. Hunter was there with Echo and Tech behind him, who were as shocked as you. Wrecker was busy looking at the helmet with Omega, but then Echo hit the side of his head.
“Ow! I thought you said you didn’t want any more head inj-” Wrecker got up and looked at you.
“Kapu, take the kid out back, she’ll help you fix D-5…”
Omega looked to Hunter, who nodded. She followed Kapu out and you closed the door gently behind them before turning back to the batch. You then moved closer to where Hunter was still standing with his brothers.
“I… I know this looks bad…” You stuttered, tears coming to your eyes, “I-I couldn’t let you-”
Hunter had engulfed you into a tight hug and sighed into your shoulder. You were rendered speechless, but returned the hug once you processed what was happening.
“Oh, cyare…” He whispered, pulling away slightly and placing his forehead against yours, “My love…”
After he let you go, Echo hugged you tight. Then Tech. Finally, Wrecker… who kneeled down in front of you and hugged you while digging his face into your stomach.
“We thought we lost you, ad’ika.”
“I’m so sorry…” You whispered, “I should’ve left something to explain, but I didn’t want the Kaminoans to do anything to any of you…”
“It was about the inhibitor chips… wasn’t it?” Echo asked.
You looked at him for a moment before nodding, “Yes…”
“Omega told us about them.” Hunter explained as you all settled down to talk, “Order 66… that’s what they were put in for…”
“To betray the Republic.”
“No. To kill the Jedi.” Echo explained.
“The Jedi?”
“Palpatine said the Jedi betrayed the Republic… tried to assassinate him.”
You shook your head, “No. No-”
“Rex explained it to us a bit further.”
“Rex? Rex is alright?”
“Yeah… we still had the chips in because they didn’t work for us during Order 66.”
“But Rex said we needed to take them out. They were still dangerous. We learned that through Wrecker and his multiple head injuries.” Tech stated.
You took a moment before looking back to them, “Cross… on Caetum, I heard the troopers talking about their new clone commander: Crosshair…”
“Yeah, his chip was working for him, then the Kaminoans improved it’s signal and now he’s with the Empire.”
“Wait, did you say Caetum?” Wrecker asked, “You went to stop the Separatists?”
You sighed, “I needed some time to get some credits and settle… but the Empire got there before I did and nothing really improved. I just got back from one of my last missions there, liberating people so they aren’t enslaved again… But there’s still so many that need help.”
“You’ve been busy, then?” Echo smiled which caused you to smile.
“I guess… but the last mission was a mess and I can’t go back anymore. The Empire is… more controlling than the Republic. They almost caught us last time.”
“‘Us’? You have a new team?”
“No, just some other mercenaries in it for money. Nothing exclusive.”
They all nodded and Wrecker spoke up, “Then maybe you could come back with us! Be a Batcher again!”
“Let’s not get too rash, Wrecker. We still need to get this job done.”
You nodded, “We’ll talk more after. Let’s go see what we’re in for.”
Wrecker cheered and you all walked out of the house. You saw Omega and Kapu sitting against your speeder while D-5 was rolling around.
“We fixed him up.” Kapu smiled.
“Thanks, his balance module was a bit out of place, maybe that was why he got hit by the door.”
“The kid did most of the work, actually.”
You nodded and looked at her, “Omega, right?”
“Yep. And… you’re ‘cyare’ according to Hunter.”
You laughed, “To him, Wrecker, Tech, and Echo… but you can call me Lodestar.”
“Good, ‘cause that would have been weird if I had to start calling you ‘darling’ or something like that.”
You shrugged, “I wouldn’t mind.”
You both laughed before turning to Kapu with the boys as he explained the job.
*******
You fastened the last bit of your armor before picking up your helmet and heading back to your speeder. Omega was sitting in the back while helping Tech with something. Kapu lent two speeder bikes for Wrecker and Hunter to use so you all wouldn’t be packed in the speeder. You walked over to Hunter as he flipped his knife and grinned as he looked you over in slight shock.
“Weird seeing me in armor, huh?”
He smirked, “I think it’s about time, Lodestar.”
You shoved him playfully before he caught you and wrapped an arm around your waist.
“I’m surprised you all have warmed up to seeing me again. I was actually expecting to be yelled at by you or Echo.”
“We’ve been through a lot recently, yelling won’t make anything better...”
“If Crosshair were here, we’d go at it for sure.”
He nodded with a small hum, which made you cup his face, “Omega told me you had to leave him behind on Kamino… It’s okay, we’ll get him back.”
He nodded, leaning in to give you a kiss, but Kapu called.
“You better get going! Almost sundown!”
You turned to acknowledge him before turning back to Hunter, “We’ll have some time after the mission… I promise.”
You got into the speeder as Wrecker and Hunter started up their bikes.
“See you in the morning!” Kapu called, urging D-5 inside.
You put your helmet on before driving off.

General Skywalker walked into the briefing room where you and the squad were waiting. You all had just come back from a week long mission, so you were tired. Of course you didn’t do much on the field, but having to do repairs to the ships and equipment was tiring also. You sat in one of the chairs as Rex stood behind you. His helmet was on the table in front of you and you observed the multiple tally marks accenting it.
“Alright, team, I know we’ve had a long week. I think you’ll be happy to know that we’re finally getting a break.”
Once he said that, the boys groaned and murmured happily. Anakin chuckled and waved his hand lightly.
“Okay, okay, make sure you’re ready. We’ll be landing in Naboo soon. I’m sure the people would accommodate you ‘cause your soldiers, but make sure you have some credits just in case.”
Everyone dispersed, but you stayed seated and Rex was still in his place behind you. Once everyone had left the room, Rex crouched to meet your eyes with a small smile.
“You finally get to see D/n.”
You nodded, cupping his face gently. It had been two weeks since you told Rex about her and you have yet to let the others know. He hummed before standing up and holding out his hand to you.
“Let’s go get ready.”
You smirked gently before taking it and he pulled up before bringing you flush against his armored chest. You let out a small giggle before he placed a hand on the back of your neck then kissed you tenderly.
You pulled away before whispering, “Is this just a ruse to get me out of my uniform?”
He chuckled while caressing your face, “No. I’d rather get to that in a place like Naboo.”
“You, Captain, don’t know life with a child.” You scoffed, “We wouldn’t find any time to do such acts.”
You pushed him away from you lightly before heading out of the briefing room and to your quarters.
*******
The cruiser landed at a small drop off near the edge of town and the clones filed out, breathing in the untainted air of Naboo. Many of the places they’d go would be plagued with the smell of burning metal and oil, so it was nice to be surrounded by fresher air. Rex led his men down the platform into the hangar with you and General Skywalker by his side. Senator Amidala was waiting with a few other people just outside of the hangar to greet the 501st.
“General Skywalker, Captain Rex, we are very happy to see you’ve gotten to Naboo in one piece.” Senator Amidala greeted with a smile.
“Thank you for letting us stay.” Anakin smiled back, a small glint in his eyes.
You looked at Rex with knowing eyes as he chuckled lightly.
“Y/n, it’s wonderful to see you again.” Padmé smiled and you hugged her gently.
“It has been a long time. Last time I was here, you were off-world. Coruscant I presume?”
“Most likely.” She laughed before turning to the squadron.
“We have multiple skriffs that are here to take you to the pavilion you’ll all be staying at.”
“Thank you, Senator. We are forever grateful.” Rex stated with a small bow of his head.
“Y/n, there’s a personal speeder here to-”
“MOMMY!”
Everyone was caught by surprise when a small voice filled the hangar. You turned, laughed, then dropped your bag to hug the small girl rushing to you. The others of the 501st had bewildered expressions on their faces when they looked at you and the girl.
“Hello, my sweet girl!”
“I missed you, mommy!”
You pulled away and cupped her face, “I missed you too.”
“Rové said you were visiting, I’m so excited!”
“So am I, my love.” You sighed, fixing her hair, “I want to introduce you to some people before we head to the lake, alright?”
She nodded and gripped your hand as you led her over to where Rex and his squad were standing. Rex smiled gently as she looked at all of them, slight confusion on her face.
“Mommy… they have the same face…” D/n whispered, looking up at you.
“Remember, I told you that they’re clones.”
“Clones all look the same?”
“Yes, but they’re very different. They don’t act the same.”
“So… they’re still like us?” She wondered.
“Very much so.” You smiled, looking towards Rex, “This is the Captain of the 501st legion: Rex.”
Rex crouched down to look at her with gentle eyes, “I’ve heard a bit about you.”
She cowered gently behind you, but you laughed, “It’s alright…”
“Wait, you knew?” Fives asked incredulously, which caused Echo to nudge him.
“I found out recently.” Rex murmured, still looking at D/n, “It’s okay, we’ve been keeping your mother safe.”
“Thank you.” She whispered, shyly.
You crouched down and held her shoulders while looking at Rex, “We should let them go to the pavilion to settle down. We’ll go visit them before dinner. Is that alright?”
She nodded and held out her arms, which signified that she wanted to be picked up. You nodded before doing so and looking at Rex and the others.
“We’ll see you all tonight.”
Rex nodded, hating watching you leave, but knowing you needed time with D/n.
*******
You made your way through the pavilion, holding onto your daughter's hand as she babbled about who knows what. You smiled as you watched her, trying to relish your time with her before you have to leave again. Chatter was starting to get louder as you approached the lounge-like balcony where most of the clones were relaxing. Many were seated at a table where food was being served while others stood against the stone railing and talked. Some were also sitting or laying on the loveseats, trying to relax. All of them were out of their armor and in their blacks or wearing attire provided to them by the handmaidens. Most of them greeted you, but you were still looking around trying to find Rex.
“Don’t worry, Y/n. He’ll be here.” Kix laughed as he saw your wandering eyes, then he looked down to your daughter, “Hello, there. I’m Kix.”
“Do you fight like the others?” D/n wondered.
“Yeah, but I’m also a medic. I take care of my brothers when they get injured.”
“You have a lot of brothers.”
Kix chuckled with a nod, “Yeah, and unfortunately, they get hurt a lot.”
She giggled at his comment, which caused you to smile.
“You must have fun being the only kid your mom has.”
“Not really,” D/n shrugged, “It gets lonely when mommy goes away.”
You looked down at her with sad eyes, but then Kix offered to pick her up which she accepted.
“C’mon, let’s go meet the others.” He grinned while walking over to Echo and Fives who were talking with Dogma. You followed hesitantly, still wondering where Rex was.
“Well, hello!” Fives greeted excitedly, “You’re mini Y/n!”
“No I’m not! I’m D/n!”
Echo looked at her closely, “I don't know… maybe you’re a clone of her. The Kaminoans must be working on a new project.”
D/n groaned dramatically which caused them to laugh. They introduced themselves, then Dogma looked at her with no reaction or comments. She looked back at him, squinting gently before speaking.
“Do you like royal cherries?”
Dogma was taken by surprise before laughing, “Haven’t tried them before.”
Hardcase walked over with Tup, greeting you and their brothers then averting their attention to D/n. She looked at them, still in Kix’s arms. She looked at Hardcase, then Tup.
“Why do you have a teardrop under your eye?” She wondered, reaching out and trying to wipe it away, “It’s not going away.”
Tup stood there awkwardly, but Fives only laughed.
“It’s a tattoo. See, Dogma has one, and I have one. So does Hardcase.”
They continued to talk and introduce themselves, but you were distracted by the thought of Rex not being there. He was so excited to see D/n, now you didn’t understand why he wasn’t there.
“Mommy?”
You turned to D/n, who was now in Dogma’s arms, “Yes, my dear?”
“Can I show them the lanterns? Near the square?”
You nodded, looking to Kix to see if that’s okay. He nodded with a smile before following his brothers, who formed a protective wall around D/n as she walked with them to the lanterns. You then turned to look over the lake, leaning against the stone rail. Footsteps approached behind you, which caused you to turn your head slightly. Jesse took a place beside you and sighed.
“It’s beautiful.”
You nodded, still distracted. Jesse looked at you with a smirk before shaking his head.
“He’s coming out soon. Did the boys take D/n?”
“She wanted to show them the lanterns near the square. It’s one of her favorite places other than the royal cherry orchard.” You explained.
“Well, they better get back soon.”
“Why?”
“Don’t worry.” Jesse smiled before going towards the table to get a drink.
After a few minutes, there was a tap on your shoulder, so you turned to see Rex holding D/n.
“There you are. Where are the boys?” You asked while taking D/n into your arms.
“Fives got this great idea of renting a boat and going on the lake.”
“Should we stay and time how fast they all fall in?” You laughed, but Rex shook his head.
“Not today. I have something to show the both of you.”
You furrowed your brows before following him through the corridors of the pavilion vacation home. Rex was giving D/n a piggyback ride, which caused her to giggle and laugh due to him pretending to be a bantha. He made silly noises just so she would be smiling all the way to your destination. You all arrived at a pair of double doors and Rex placed D/n down before pushing them open. You stood in shock once you saw the room. It was large with flowers decorating it, a table accented with food, and multiple different furniture pieces with decorative and comfortable pillows.
“Rex…” You whispered as he held out his hand to you. You took it graciously, still looking around, “What…?”
“I wanted this stay to be special for you and D/n.”
D/n hopped onto the large bed with a giggle, seeing a stuffed mudhorn plushie, “This is so cute!”
“It’s yours.” Rex smiled before sitting on the bed with her.
“Really?”
“Of course.” He caressed her cheek.
D/n held it tight before looking up at him, “Does… does my mommy have to go back with you?”
Rex sighed with a sad nod, “Yeah… I wish she didn’t, but she has to so you’ll be safe.”
“Will you… will you take care of her?”
“I would give my life for her… and for you.”
“Why?”
“Because… I care about your mother a lot. After the war, I wish to stay with her and take care of the both of you.”
“Like… like a father? Or a husband to my mommy?”
Rex managed a small chuckle, cupping her face, “Yes, ad’ika, very much so. Would you like that?”
D/n nodded before hopping into his lap and hugging him tight. He was caught by surprise, but hugged her back tightly. You grinned, relishing this moment and wishing it could last forever.

You laid on the ledge, watching over the others through your scope.
“Lodestar, anything?”
“No movement whatsoever.” You responded, looking to your side where Omega was laid next to you with binoculars, “Omega?”
“All clear. Nothing.”
“I’m going in. Echo, cover me.” Hunter affirmed.
You nodded, looking through the scope of your rifle again. You watched as he and Echo made their way through the small valley, moving stealthily between the rocks. You then averted your attention to your surroundings, looking out for some unwanted company. Tech and Wrecker were on the other side of the valley, waiting just above also.
“Um… Lodestar?” Omega caught your attention, “What’s that?”
She handed you the binoculars and helped you look to the direction she was observing beforehand. You then saw the lizard-like creature stalking Hunter and Echo’s trail. You quickly gave the binoculars back before speaking into your communicator.
“Hunter, your 5 o’clock!”
He turned, pulled out his knife, and swiped at the creature. It moved back and hissed at him. You positioned your rifle and prepared to shoot, but then Omega exclaimed.
“Wait! Behind it! Look!”
You furrowed your brows before moving your scope to see a nest full of eggs.
“Hunter! Move away slowly! Put your dagger away!” Omega instructed. He hesitated, but did so, which also caused the creature to retreat.
“There’s an alternate path to your left.” Tech declared, “It’s fairly faster than the one you’re taking now.”
“Better timing next time, Tech.” Echo grumbled.
The lot of you made your way back to the speeder after retrieving what Cid’s client wanted. You helped Omega into the speeder before looking at Wrecker as he readied his bike. You smirked and signalled Hunter to drive the speeder while you made your way to the other speeder bike.
“Race you back, Wreck.”
He laughed, “Oh-ho, ad’ika! You’re on!”
You boarded the bike and nodded to him while starting it up.
“Do us the honors, Omega?” You insisted, which caused her to grin.
“Ready… set… GO!” She cried and you took off with Wrecker, who was whooping.
The both of you egged each other on, but then the speeder caught up and found its place between you two. You looked briefly to see the small smirk on Hunter’s face as he maneuvered the speeder. You laughed and revved the bike, overlapping both the speeder and Wrecker.
“Oh no you don’t, ad’ika!” Wrecker shouted, urging the bike.
You and him were at the same pace, but before you could reach the house, Hunter managed to outrun the both of you. You slowed your bike to a stop before hopping off it and laughing while Wrecker grumbled. Omega cheered as she got out of the speeder while Echo laughed at Tech, who’s hair was unkempt and goggled were dusty. Hunter patted Wreckers shoulder to comfort him. D-5 rolled out of the house, circling you.
“He-Hello! Home, home, home!”
You urged him back towards the house, “Kapu might be back in town. The sun’s not up yet, so we can go see him in an hour or so. Come on.”
Omega rushed into the house with D-5 while you all followed behind her. You and the Batch relieved yourselves of your armor, then you went into the kitchen to make a meal for everyone. Omega played with D-5 on the floor while Hunter was discussing some things with Echo, Tech was messing with one of his devices, and Wrecker was knocked out in one of the chairs. This was a sight you missed, it had something new in it, but was still missing a little bit of something else. You managed a small smile while going back to cooking. You then placed a large bowl down with the food along with some plates.
“Dig in.” You announced.
They didn’t deny the food being offered and started eating. It has been a long time since they’ve had a real cooked meal other than rations and Mantell Mix, so they cherished every bite taken. You stood, watching and admiring them. You were finally relishing that they were really here with you and it wasn’t some fantasy you would often have after the incident on Coruscant. Omega was a great addition to the Batch, but it didn’t fully fill the hole where Crosshair was supposed to be. If he were here, you knew the two of you would be yelling over each other, but then ended up in one another’s arms as if you hadn’t left. You felt a small bump and looked down to see D-5.
“Sad. Star sad.”
You shook your head and crouched down, “You keep bumping into people like that, your balance module will come out of place again.” You pushed him back towards Omega before making your way to the bed where Hunter was sitting, having finished eating. Echo had moved to the sofa where Tech was, talking to him about his arm or something like that. Omega was leaning against the chair Wrecker was sitting on, eyes getting droopy. You laughed gently before going over to her and picking her up.
“C’mon.”
“Not tired.” She murmured as you placed her on the bed behind Hunter, moving the covers so she could get under them.
“Wrecker used to say the same thing.” You whispered while tucking her in.
You turned back to the others while taking your seat again.
“You should rest too.” Echo insisted, “You haven’t since your last mission.”
You shook your head, looking down to your hands, “I… don’t sleep that often anymore. I’ll be alright.”
D-5 rolled in front of you, “Bad-bad dreams.”
You sighed, “Mind your business before I shut you down.” You kicked him gently.
“You sure it wasn’t you who made his balance module wonky?” Tech smirked.
You rolled your eyes, “Wow… when did you find your sense of humor?”
He tossed a pillow from the couch towards you, which you caught.
“Hey,” You whispered, “Omega’s sleeping!”
They all managed to chuckle, nearly all the tension off their shoulders.
“It’s been a while since you’ve all relaxed, huh?’
Echo nodded with a sigh, “We’ve had to deal with a lot… bounty hunters, jobs, even Crosshair…”
“This… is different than just staying on Ord Mantell and waiting for Cid to send us off on a job.” Tech admitted, “It feels almost… like before.”
You nodded, “Yeah… I was thinking the same thing.” You smiled gently, “I really missed this.”
“We missed you, mesh’la.” Hunter murmured, bringing you closer to him and placing a kiss on your head, “So much…”
You looked at them as they all nodded, which caused tears to come to your eyes. Hunter placed a hand on your face and shushed you.
“It’s alright, cyare, we understand.”
Wrecker spoke up, “Are you… are gonna come back with us? To Ord Mantell?”
You took a moment to look at him before shrugging, “I don't have much here. This place was just… refuge. It was never home.”
“Kamino was home-”
“No,” You muttered, “Kamino wasn’t home. Not to me. Kamino was an escape from my past… Home was with you. All of you. That was home.”
“Are you ready to come home then, cyar’ika?”
You looked at them all before nodding, “Yes. Yes, I am…”
*******
You stood in the shop while Kapu talked to Cid through the holo device.
“Yeah, your boys got it. They’ll be back soon.”
“Good. Nice doing business with ya, Kapu.”
“Does that mean I get that date?”
Cid scoffed before hanging up, which caused Kapu to laugh.
“She loves me.”
You rolled your eyes with a smile before heading to him.
“Gonna miss me, Kapu?”
“I’ve been tryna get rid of you, girl!”
You laughed and set down a bag of credits, “Here.”
“What for?”
“Letting me stay here?”
He picked up the pouch and poured it out into his hand, then used another had to take half the pile before putting the rest of the credits back into the pouch and tossing it back to you.
“I ain’t no charity. And take D-5 with you so I don’t need to worry about smashing him with no door again.”
You nodded before walking out with the Batch. You hiked up your bag on your shoulder and looked down at Omega as she was holding D-5.
“Gonky will have a new friend!”
“Gonky still works?” You asked incredulously while Tech nodded.
“Surprisingly, yes.”
After a bit of walking, you all arrived at the ship and you stood there for a moment, taking in the sight of it.
“Wow… still looks the same.”
“Wrecker wanted to put Senator Amidala up there above the hatch.”
“I thought that was just a joke!” You exclaimed.
“He thought it’d cheer us up after Coruscant.”
You shook your head with a smile while boarding the ship.
“I’m glad you didn’t or else I would’ve turned back around.”
Omega rushed in with D-5, climbing up into the gunner’s mount. You furrowed your brows slightly.
“It’s her own little space…”
You nodded, “That’s good. It’s hard dealing with you guys all the time.”
“She’s used to it by now.” Echo laughed before making his way into the cockpit.
You placed your bag down and walked into the cockpit also, relishing the feel of it again. Omega rushed in and sat in the seat that used to be yours. You smiled and took the seat that was once Crosshair’s.
“Alright, setting route for Ord Mantell.” Tech announced as everyone settled in.
