Like from a religious perspective, it's fine people want their Gods to be all good and wise

But even then the Trimurti HAVE done some stuff that was morally grey or questionable (that Kavya Mata story and the Savitri story)

Knowingly unknowingly, they have done stuffs, and that imo is more beautiful

Cuz even God isn't perfect, nobody is.

So to deny their actions or say they are all perfect is really dumb 💀

SPN s13 where nobody dies, Sam, Dean, Cas, Crowley and Lucifer are stuck in the alternate universe and Jack is raised by Kelly, Mary and Rowena. In Spn true fashion, this new version of "Team Free-Will" still upholds patriarchal values (in that the three of them are all very concerned with the raising of the good, righteous blonde white male demigod who, in their eyes, could never do one bad thing in his whole life even if he tried. I want to be clear that Jack doesn't stand a chance with them either, they will give him trauma, just a different flavor) AND poses a threat to the same system because these are women who want AND who don't accept being told they can't have it, they've had enough of that shit (which is SPN's very antithesis where desire must be controlled otherwise is monstrous and must be eliminated). Like, Chuck couldn't even get close to these three together, let alone ask them to kill Jack. They would literally laugh at his face and then slit his throat. Still laughing while they're doing it. Now, it's important to me and to my fantasy that Mary, Kelly and Rowena actually love/hate each other. Like, they see in each other what they couldn't get for themselves but they also recognize that what the other got cost her a huge price and, in the end, they are all pieces of a puzzle that keeps changing the image it wants to reproduce. They just know that image is not them but always someone else. And, as I've said, they've had enough of that shit. Because Jack's a Norman-Bates-level of mama's boy and beyond, he learns to open rifts like there's no tomorrow in, like, three days tops. Mary, Kelly and Rowena are vaguely concerned about "their boys" safety while they're more focused on harboring murderous desires against Lucifer, their mortal enemy AND the father of their perfect son.

I would TOTALLY watch that.

On Trinity Sunday and Phenomenology

On this Trinity Sunday I'm reminded that on one hand, the doctrine of the Trinity is simply an apologetic device, chiefly to maintain ideological consistency with the fundamental assertion of the Abrahamic faiths (that God is one), in tandem with the experience and inference of the Christian community that the person of Jesus was in some way (also) divine.

In many ways the conciliar doctrinal assertions of the the church, especially the early church, were just as political in consequence and affect as they were spiritual (if not slightly more bent toward the former). They have been used to wound and confound, to exclude and control. And. And...

Trinitarian formulations are also found throughout the world's wisdom traditions, and they point toward something phenomenologically significant- they invite us into the experience of a profound truth about how things might be, which is to say relational, paradoxical, and somehow more expansive and inclusive than we might be primed to perceive. Good trinitarian theology grows from that invitation. As for the rest? Well, believer beware.
