billions themes axe is a guy who can go "i don't comply with a specific set of rules abt What Winners Are Like (by daring to wear tees, eat pizza) and yet i still win" and can accept taylor showing up in s2 with many added layers of how them just Being Themself doesn't conform to, say, how axe is, unlike other people who'd love to emulate him &/or hype him up as a visionary & role model, and yet taylor still also wins. and then there's winston not following the rules for how winners should act just in the course of being himself, and yet still wins, and: he gets none of the seriousness or dignity or focus or lack of the ignored to encouraged negative treatment and we also sometimes go out of our way to declare trivial details about his personal tastes, interests, choices, inherent existence to be incontrovertible Loser branding
small aside but y'know how luffy's stupidity is usually met with physical abuse of some kind? anyway. here's law's worst in response to luffy being manipulated by his arch nemesis
Lady Bone Demon: "I've seen it countless times before your meager existence. I've witnessed cities rise and fall. I've seen the world suffer famine, disease, war, and endless turmoil—an eternity of needless pain. I thought if I helped someone with real power, guided you to be better, I could make a true difference in the world! But I now see the only true way to create the perfect world, is to start with a clean slate."

Azure Lion: *laughs* "I'm flattered, truly, but...were it not for Sun Wukong bringing us all together, I- without you, none of this would be possible! Your courage to stand up to the celestial host has inspired us to finally take a stand, to make a true difference in the world! And I can think of none other more suitable to lead us on our conquest than you brother."
isnt it great when u take your adhd meds and instead of using that brainpower for stuff like ASSIGNMENTS. AND PROJECTS. your brain decides the next 6 hours will be brainstorming ponysona names and making oc playlists

ideas: i didn't really think of him being underwater but they deserve to have drama by crying there too so i just think you could say something about the composition being denser than water or w/e. proteins
i'm always like good thing he didn't try to exit asap via swimming in ciao alberto But What If He Did lol. just swim Somewhere else along the coast, maybe panic about [money??] & whether somehow this ruins school for luca, whether he can get in touch w/o it being On Sight b/w him & all marcovaldos, consider just kind of trying out other places, traveling after all...fascinating considering the other povs on the issue like: now there's the paguros to sympathize w/a kid vanishing, luca however in a somewhat more novel position there, giulia's throwback to alberto being a bit perplexing lmao, kind of thinking the best massimo could do is have a prewritten letter for luca to give to alberto If Possible, conveying something like i know you didn't set my livelihood on fire on purpose but even if you did i'd want you to stay. and luca in a position to do all of "maybe give the island fun facts so someone can check if he's there" & "wait & hope alberto can/does get in touch" & "have a lot of feelings"....not even the context of what this drawing is about necessarily, just tacking it on here anyways. ahead of time i went "heh now i Know they're gonna have it get little Real here b/c it's really about alberto wanting the security of feeling he can 'earn' a sustained relationship" then the short cleared & i was lying completely dead on the pavement
ailette's preoccupation with feeding tesilid food is really cute and funny and wholesome, especially given how tesilid doesn't really seem to place as much importance on food even if he does appreciate it.
neither ailette nor the narrative ever acknowledges this, but i think it probably has its roots in her first life. when she grew up always hungry and never really had consistent and reliable access to food that was either delicious or nutritious. i think it just becomes really important to her that someone who means the world to her always gets to eat well. even if she lives well now in this life, her traumas from her past life maybe still subconsciously impacts how she navigates life.
Gushing about Gojo and Megumi and how they are or could have been everything to me I forgot to mention that I really really really love Yuuji. Like, a lot
I love the vocal nuance in this exchange, but also posting this for my differences posts because this is one of the changes that infuriates me the most. Yuri didn't threaten Ioder, did not threaten him with a weapon, and just said he'd punch him in a lazy, half joking voice (half joking as in, he really doesn't want to hear that - that's just his way of saying so; but that's not the voice of someone who is super angry and threatening).
My other huge grievance is that this is a recurring issue between them in the dub. Yuri is pretty much always vocally rude to Ioder. Ioder has done nothing to wrong him or anyone and has only ever done good for the people where he's able to.
Yet despite Ioder being nothing but sincere, honest and polite with Yuri, in fact even happy to see him here and there, dub Yuri is outright tonally rude to him leading right up this scene where he threatens Ioder in this dark voice. Meanwhile he's actually just supposed to be… lazily telling Ioder he'll punch him in his Yuri Lowell way of saying "I don't want to hear that".
The dub really just wanted to turn Yuri into this dark edgelord and I hate that for my goofy, silly boy.
gen5 bothers me because it hurts gen4 by existing. like yeah that happy ending? was just temporary and everything fell apart eithing twilights lifetime. everything she worked for ended up being for nothing not even that long after she took the throne, and equestria was left in a WORSE state by the end.
also, saw somebody point out that a lot of g4 characters are legacy redesigns of previous ones. by making g5 a sequel, theyve locked themselves out of using any “legacy character” that appeared in g4, which was a pretty sizeable amount, and generally the most iconic ones
idk beyind that g5 just feels kinda soulless
The whole schtick of the pony species fighting and learning to work together as always been a staple of the series, it’s just the unfortunate territory that comes with a new generation. But you know, I think G5 could have tried something new! But it didn’t, it also made the choice to have it be a direct sequel and now constantly has to try and link back to G4 to try and get that old audience engaged again.
It’s just kind of unfortunate because a little more care and thought instead of hurrying to get it out might’ve helped the series stand on its own. Sadly, it’s far too attached to the old generation for its own good (and not even in the fun way! Whaddya MEAN you won’t make Twilight the new antagonist? Why throw her the idiot ball like that?? Give my favorite horse some slack she would NOT do that).
