Two of the most promising (and best looking) rookies in the early 1980s were Curt Hennig and Eddie Gilbert. The above GIF shows them getting ready for a tag team match, peeling off their ring jackets as the females at ringside shriek like cats in heat. You can watch their punishment by the Wild Samoans on YouTube.

According to the following photo from my copy of The Pictorial History of Wrestling, the two chums actually faced off and WRESTLED AGAINST EACH OTHER early in their careers! Be still my heart -- I've always loved seeing fit young rookie partners get it on.

I'm sure when I was perusing the Pictorial History of Wrestling back in 1984, the above photo must've stirred up an aching desire in young me to watch these two buddies go at it. And now, thanks to YouTube, I can.

I found one rare Curt Hennig vs. Eddie Gilbert match on YouTube but I'm not sure if it's the same match where the above photo was taken. Note, the audio for this rare footage is not in English, but the wrestling action is still very enjoyable and the two competitors are good eye candy even if you can't understand the commentary.

Ole Anderson beats up Jerry Roberts in this 1980 squash match recently posted to YouTube. The jobber is actually afforded some Hope Spots near the end of the match, but this just inspires Anderson to get more aggressive to put this chump down for good.

Jerry Roberts is also known as Jacques Rougeau. The Rougeau family were a Big Deal up in Montreal, a revered multi-generational dynasty like the von Erichs in Texas. So it's no wonder Jacques changed his name to "Jerry" when he was hired as Enhancement Talent here in the U.S. He didn't want to bring shame and humiliation on his family name, given the degrading defeats and endless abuse he would have to endure for our viewing pleasure.

I can just imagine his shame when he went home for Christmas and his dad and brothers asked him about his Win-Loss record down here in the WWF!
