Sundays are still a thing, so have some sentences and an arty thing I've been fiddling with while it's still barely Sunday here

super late this week cuz well I've been out and about with the hubby all weekend cuz it was his bday so I've been out in the wonderful weather all weekend - jazz festival all day yesterday - complete with "been outside all day crazy curls festival hair" on my part (tho not as cute as TZP festival hair lolz) and hiking and park hanging out walking, a lil disc golf today, and so much sun and fresh air over the entirety of the weekend and I am exhausted from it

anyway the important not me rambling stuffs - i did absolutely no writing this weekend, but i did do some during the week so i guess some of those words will do these words are from the same room that lil piece of art above that i've been working on (also still a wip) shows but a later in the story wedding day kiss

Prince Alex is fifteen, not even a whole day when he is kissed for the first time by someone not his family. He comes from a family that has always been very demonstrative in their love, so kisses on foreheads and cheeks are not new to him. They have always been sprinkled throughout his day, through his young life; they are nothing out of the ordinary. This kiss, however, was not like any of those kisses. For one, it was from the prince's best friend after they had slipped off during his birthday party, in the green room of the palace in Claremont, where they used to sometimes play on rainy days when they were younger. Prince Henry, the kissing best friend, is also the same prince who ran from him after it happened, and now he can’t find him. He’ll think about the other reasons why this kiss is different than the others later because right now, he’s still stuck on the fact that his best friend in the entirety of the world kissed him right on the lips and – well, luckily for the prince those other thoughts can wait for later as he stumbles upon said best friend sitting by the small pond in the garden. Prince Alex plops down next to Prince Henry, and they sit silently. Alex waits for an explanation of why his best friend kissed him and then ran away. Thoughts consume the young prince: Was he a bad kisser? Wait, did he want his best friend to think he was a good kisser? More thoughts for later. Future Prince Alex was going to have a lot of thoughts to process.

i know i sound like a meanie but OH MY FUCKING GOD this whole taylor swift-travis kelce shit is making me SO DARN ANNOYED i need to get it out somehow.

first of all, i used to be pretty neutral about TSwift. Most of her music was never my tea, but i liked folklore-evermore and some bits of midnights quite a lot. i considered myself a casual fan, i did not know neither did i care at all about what her life beyond her music was.

till this year: what a shitshow she's gotten into since breaking up with joe. why is her life suddenly a public spectacle that SHE herself is orchestrating and shoving down everyone's throat. the pap walks the obviously sightings with her "girlfriends" for pr reasons the "flings". tf is she trying to prove? what happened to her wanting a private and protected personal life?

it seems like she is trying to clean up her association with matty asshole healy from public memory by this sudden and out of nowhere "fairytale whirlwind romance" with a hunky sports hunk. it's so obviously PR motivated it's CRINGE. are people not seeing it.

and the public discourse surrounding it all- holy fuck. "taylor is finally dating a manly man" "no more emo actors/musicians for our mother" "they are like a highschool romance movie" "a man that is as rich as her who won't get insecure" "every girl wants to be an athlete gf" "taylor in her WAG era" EW. JUST STOP IT. everything i learn about them has been against my will and i dare swifties to go around saying "dont make taylor's music all about her love life she's more than that". NO GIRL THAT'S LITERALLY EVERYTHING THERE IS TO HER. name good one song she's written about something more profound than some guy she fancies and how he doesn't treat her well. i cringe even more thinking about how in a couple months this all will end and these same people will go with pitchforks against the dude.

apparently joe alwyn's biggest crime was just not wanting to be a part of this circus. i wonder how long will this go on truly. taylor's fame and influence has reached its saturation point i think, only the crash can follow. and oh boy will it be something to watch

This was inspired by the many many T-Swift songs that fit our lovely OTP Elucien. I will be highlighting all the lyrics that fit Elucien in each song and I have always said, TSwift is for Elucien and Elucien only haha. Invisible (Taylor Swift). This is a song I can see from Lucien’s perspective and ugh, it crushes my heart.

You Belong with Me (Fearless). One specific part that stands out coming from Lucien’s perspective.

Mine (Speak Now). This is a song I can see representing if (when) Elain leaves the Night Court to work with (become friends) with the Band of Exiles.

If you think about it, Elain is a rebel waiting to be unleashed. The careful (mediator) daughter of a once careless (up until the end) father. I can see them sitting there, enjoying the silence, and Lucien getting the courage (and with her permission) to put his arm around her for the first time.

I Almost Do (Red). For this song, I view it as Elain’s resistance to Lucien being her own stubbornness. She’s scared of finding something she could want forever, scared of how there’s a pull towards him even when she doesn’t actively want it. Her resistance can be viewed as her fighting the pull of the bond because she doesn’t want to be influenced by it, she wants to make her own choice. I’m sure she could be wondering how often her mate thinks of her compared to how often she thinks of him.

Treacherous (Red). This song makes me think of Elain and Lucien both being drawn to each other because they can’t help it, even when they try to resist it. For Elain, Lucien is the hard choice because it challenges everything she’s come to know about the mating bond and takes her away even further from the life she wanted. I can see them hating the attraction they feel but succumbing to it regardless (not as far as haters to lovers but definitely reluctant until they start hashing it out — “is it the bond or do I truly feel this way?”).

This Love (1989). This song is so soft and I want to scream because of how it fits so well. Both Elain and Lucien would consider the bond both positive and negative because of how it came to be, how it shifts their memories and faithfulness to their previous lovers.

5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself

I think i post everything except artbook/commission work and most of my art this year has been commissions so... i guess it's 30/70 proportion

I want to return to a 90/10 proportion next year though, i have ideas and I'd like to post more bc my online presence has been almost none in comparison I miss the internet...

14. Any favorite motifs

Contrasts... that's vague but yeah

As a whole I like touching in art and I wish for my art to reach certain level of intimacy if there's interaction between characters who care about each other TCH that's so long of an explanation... I like thinking on how to make hands touching, mouths touching, tails touching (thanks to most comms i get i learned to draw catppl LOL) and not make it look silly but that can convey closeness like friendship or romance

Also as hypocrite as I am for saying this I adore insects in art more than irl they are so aesthetically interesting... irl they are so delicate or outright harmful/annoying but I'm sure they feel the same way about us humans ANYWays I like them bc they kind of remind me of fairies (most of the winged ones) or of illness/fear/death (most parasitic, flies, maggots). I love contrasts and the fact insects can mean so many contradicting things is very cool to me

extra I like some of them irl too I'm just not good at handling them u_u

I also like mythology and fairytale motifs :] i'm ignorant of most literature so I cannot recognize many references when I encounter them but I like seeing fanart or comics of books I know and I'm taking this chance to plug gianni de luca's shakespeare comics bc they do feel like watching a play

29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically

I was legit going to reply with music but just this month I unironically wanted to draw OC animatics. To TSwift and Avril and Carly Rae Jepsen songs. I wasn't as unhinged as i wanted as a teenager and it shows now

I'm gonna answer with found footage style films!! they are my not guilty at all pleasure and I love LOOOVE media that replicates that style in art or videogames/ARGs etc but they don't really inspire my art, maybe if i tried doing some horror they would but that's not on my current plans sooo
