Considering RWBY's history of subverting expectation/usual tropes along continuing the trend of RWBY mirroring Gurren Lagann: Ruby acquiring/gaining a monstrous form in order to fight the God of Light. Since you will gonna admit Gurren Lagann's final form, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, look demonically. And after all, we might get the closest to an actual werewolf in the show. Also, Weiss being a monsterfucker for the win, bc i'm a Whiterose trash/truther. X3

For the last couple years now I’ve had a recurring mental image of ALL FOUR of Team RWBY gaining monstrous, demonic/celestial, energy-based forms and battling it out against the God of Light in space or on some other cosmic plane in one giant homage to the end of TTGL

Yang is probably a full-on fiery dragon, Blake is this massive, shadowy feline, Weiss is an angelic armored knight and Ruby is this utterly demonic wolf/raven/bat/devil hybrid XD

But yeah, Weiss still thinks Ruby’s new form is hot lol :D

There's a lot of Gurren Lagann references in the show, but Leo and Donnie specifically reference Kamina and Simon a lot

as foretold, bang brave bang bravern was crazy good this week

it's just. gosh. for as much as i talk abt bravern being unhinged the fact of the matter is that it is actually SO restrained. ESPECIALLY for something in a medium that is already a little self-indulgent and referential. like for all of bravern himself's clear love for mecha there have been so few explicit references to other shows? and then this ep had so fucking many - ttgl (which - fucking hilarious to use it against a character KONISHI is voicing and then have that DD be fucking useless except for wanting to see some cool fights LSKDJFH) and flcl and symmetrical docking and rider kick and jeeg and gundam and the fuckin uhhhhhhhh exkaiser i think but i dont remember for sure its the same one that showed up in the earlier fight w superbia too. like w the other mecha on the roof framing. and probably about thirty more that i'm for sure missing or not recognizing or forgetting ON TOP OF all the obari posing and punching which have been sneaking into the visuals before this - but it was all for the purpose of having us watch this hype battle and get all excited to make the ending hit THAT much harder. and holding off the first gattai until episode NINE???? the thing we're all expecting to happen at any fucking moment, because there was no way that the souls of isami and bravern could've combined and actually resonated for a true gattai until that point????? like it's ALL in service of the story rather than wow cool robot even tho it IS a pretty damn cool robot. this show makes me feel like i did my homework and i'm acing the test AND I HAVENT EVEN WATCHED THAT MUCH MECHA TBH. LMFAO. all the "who is this show even FOR (eyeroll emoji)" comments back in like ep2 get funnier every week bc bravern knows its audience like the back of its hand and it gets clearer and clearer every week that its execution is fucking razor sharp. this show is SO SUCKING GOOD and I LOVE IT. that was supposed to say fucking good but sucking works too

idgaf. firstly, I literally have multiple posts on my blog about kill la kill. recent ones too. it's literally one of my favorite anime. in case you forgot, gainax literally did eva?? every eva movie. yes it has nudity and erotica in it. next. studio trigger has also done Little Witch Academia, which I think captures their animation and storybuilding skillset well without having any fanservice. and as I've said b4 on this blog, kill la kill is literally the sister show to gurren lagann and has just as rich as a plot, theme and characters but people just label it the 'fanservice anime' and move on. and this is the first time in my life I've seen TTGL referred to as a 'fanservice show', that made me laugh. anyways, gainax also did FLCL, gunbuster, diebuster, and kare kano, which are some of my favorite anime, which have fanservice or show nudity in some way, but are known more for their plot. boiling down PASWG to its eroticism when it was literally a playground for animators (the animators who worked on gurren lagann btw), is literally also proving my point. the reason I said this was because this is the millionth time i've seen "teehee gainax/trigger the boobie studio" "remember kill la kill, I'm glad they're moving on from that". it's tired and annoying. as if other studios and anime before or after them didn't also animate boob physics while simultaneously having a rich plot. And 'a Gainax' to me is a weird ass plot ending, not fkn boob physics. Like I said, nuance. I'm not sorry at all, when I see my favorite studio(s) and anime being referred to as the boobie studio and nothing else, it's irritating as hell. don't try and pretend like that isn't the current, general attitude towards the shows you just listed now lol, especially kill la kill. you all are acting as if dungeon meshi is doing something completely different which is backfiring 1) because of the obvious fanservice and boob physics which are blowing up on tumblr now 2) I will say Kui's worldbuilding is refreshing and different than most manga that we've seen in a while but studio-wise. all those other shows had a plot too. remember that? talking like all those other shows were pure fanservice makes me question your intelligence. dungeon meshi is already just a "furry boobie anime" to someone and you will hear it being referred to a such and be just as irritated as I am now lol

things i learned from rare pair week

back when i hosted ramyatta week, drawing so much and so consistently for a few weeks helped me improve a lot. i feel like ive probably gotten the same thing from rare pair week. specifically...

-lineart is my fav part of the process, i like indicating heavy shadows with solid blocks of black or very dark brown.

-my fave types of brushes to ink with are fineliner mimics with a bit of dithering. while brushes with more pressure are nice, i think i honestly prefer just painting and carving into my lines. its why doing lineart properly takes me hours and hours but i really like the results...

-coloring is my least favorite part. but i hate how solid flat colors look. therefore... we have a problem.

-I NEED TO USE REFERENCES MORE like im just not good enough to build a pose from form construction alone! i wont be for ages so why am i trying this hard??

-i do not fucking like drawing people. like i just dont. idk what but the only pieces i had motivation on were the ones with an omnic involved. maybe thats why i quit a decade ago. but i cant force myself to draw humans if i dont like it, no matter how much i wanna draw zarya being sexy or mauga being beefy (still lesbian hes just super fun to draw in small bursts bc he is so Shaped)

i was not destined to be a beefy woman artist...

while i was working on my day 4 i actually was also rewatching tengen toppa gurren lagann with a friend and honesty... i might try to just steal whats going on in those eyecatches. the big, blocky shadows, the feathering at the shadow edges, and the pale and just slightly desaturated colors...

yeah... ive been thinking about these a lot. my brain was already primed to go in this direction since i started reading idw1 transformers. a lot of mtmte/ll is rendered this way regarding shadows and how they indicate form. actually, i think a lot of transformers art is.

so anyways, the plan is to draw cosmic crisis ramyatta for a bit and finally dip my toes into transformers art. ill have my hands full with the shambali boys and the lost light crew so!!
