i haven't really written sickfics as in one of them has a fever and the other takes care of him... but i wrote one sickfic and other stories where stitches are needed... or just hurt/comfort:

Sherlock in Quarantine. M, 2.776 words. Sherlock got COVID and has to isolate himself from his family. So, what happens to a genius locked in? You guessed it right, he promptly saves the entire earth.

Notes and Needles. T, 2.837 words. 2/2 chapters. One day, Sherlock insists on teaching John how to play the violin. That day John is conflicted about his feelings towards his ex-flat mate. Another day, Sherlock gets injured and John needs to stitch him up. That day he burns a lasagna and his alleged heterosexuality.

It bothers you. Why? M, 1.557 w. Sherlock had noticed that John always distracts him from his scar. The curious detective finally dares to test that boundary...

Missing. M, 1.127 w., 1/2 (maybe 3) chapters. Sherlock didn’t usually call anyone. He was calling John for the fourth time now. Nothing. Two times endless ringing. The next two times it went straight to the mailbox. Sherlock hit the green button again. This was getting disconcerting…

Let Me Fix You. T, 1.932 w. John gets injured during a case. He is pissed as hell. And determined he will stitch himself up. It's not his fault he forgot that Sherlock actually cares about him.

So Close, so Far out of Reach. T, 1.209 w. A case. Two injuries. A doctor. And a detective who can't keep still, because the closeness of this specific doctor makes him fidgety.

i am not entirely sure what category i am listing here but i feel like this one also needs to be added:

Hurt Soulmates. Gen, 1.586 w. John is tearing himself apart with his self-hatred. Why? Because he is visiting Sherlock in the hospital. After John himself beat him up. He tries to fix it, tries to apologize, but will his attempts ever be enough?

i love designing pokemon trainers because like depending on the specific era of pokemon character design you can get wildly different interpretations of what makes a “good” pokemon trainer design.

like if you look at npcs from RSE vs ORAS there is a CLEAR difference in design philosophy despite them being fundamentally the same character.

and yes, part of it has to do with the style, proportions, posing, and just the general fact that there’s a 10 year gap between them, but its clear that the design philosophy itself changed as well. the ORAS youngster adds details that are visually interesting but not distracting— namely the sableye shirt, striped shorts, and band-aid over the nose. the shorts were changed to black so that the distribution of blue wasn’t overpowering, and also added the additional benefit of creating a value hierarchy that leads the viewer’s eye to the most important details of the design: the shirt and the face.

but im getting ahead of myself. i could talk design details all day but my point is that like. wowie! these are all pokemon trainer designs! they all look vastly different because they were all designed by different people and from different eras and yet we can still clearly identify them as pokemon characters one way or another!

a pokemon trainer outfit can be simple, kinda out there, or REALLY out there! you can do whatever you want forever and ever.

(Building off of your Gem world hopping lore a bit here)

Maybe this won’t make any sense, but I’ve had this idea rattling around in my head for a while about Gem being something like the universe’s champion. Not a god, not someone all powerful, but a player with the world’s blessing in all she does.

You’ve got her connection to the End, which is already one of the most iconic parts of the game. Then you also have her mentioning that dreaming is the key to dimension hopping, which is easily comparable to the end poem. And, of course, her whole thing with ender dragons, which really finished the trio off.

That lore is cool on its own, but it’s also in her play style. She’s drawn to villages, and while she did it in HC9 the worlds that really stand out to me are two of her hardcore worlds, where she’s based in villages, remodeled them, and protected the villagers, whom she gave names and personalities. She delights in the mundane or common parts of the game. Things like that.

It’s like how Etho feels uniquely Minecraft-y because he’s been around for so long, as ancient as the lands around him. Gem doesn’t have the same old world feel- she’s younger, bursting with potential. Maybe she has some sort of grand mission, maybe that mission is simply to live, to experience. No matter what, the player has played the game well

Gem who's entwined with the universe... it's champion.... The key to finally opening the end in the life series and fully immersed in the worlds she inhabits yet unimpeded by the laws that govern places such as empires.

You mentioned her hardcore worlds and that also reminds me of the time she got the villager origin in afterlife, and stuck to that village the entire series. She became it's stalwart protector up until her death. So even there she continues that theme.

The universe loves all it's players but it's like it's given her the master's key to unlock any door she wants, to dream however and wherever she wants to. To open a door in dawn and step out into hermitcraft, to open the end, to escape the end of a world, anywhere she wants to go, anywhere she wishes to dream. Perhaps even guide her here or there with a little blue flame? AUGH
