OH GOD!!!!! THE ADRIENETTE DYNAMIC IN TVL IS EVERYTHING!!!! It's one of the best-executed adrienette dynamics I've ever read!! I love how you captured the yearning from adrien and the panic and avoidance from marinette. I was screaming "kiss her" the whole time and i almost thought they were gonna kiss in bed and have sex hahaha but then i remembered that's literally the whole conflict of the story and its only chapter 4. The pace of the scene was perfect!! i was on the edge of my seat.

Finally i love how your lovesquare is not so black and white and the character's feelings overlap because you can tell a&m still love each other and have sexual tension to a lower degree than ladynoir who btw also really like each other!!

Hot take but if you defend Armand and say something like ‘once a pimp always a pimp’ about Louis I will kick you off the roof. I love Armand to bits and he has terrible backstory but he held all the power in that relationship and he knew it. Not to mention he quite literally directed a play that killed his daughter

Louis is such a funny first pov character for us as the audience to have. Like of course there's the sudden tone shift at the beginning at TVL- but then throughout the books after that the other vampires always make sure to comment on how depressed and human he looks to seemingly try and drive the point home that hey. we are NOT all living in gothic horror depression world thats Just him, he's just being weird abt it

I am convinced that any show watcher who says Armand is lying about him and Lestat being together either: 1. Has never read the books, 2. Has read the books and has terrible media literacy skills, or 3. Is just plain racist against Southeast Asian people. Why? Because these are Lestat's canon thoughts about Armand:

In short, if I see someone I follow making ignorant comments about Lesmand that insult Armand, treating him as undesirable, now that Assad Zaman is playing him, I am going to be unfollowing and possibly blocking that someone. And if the show goes this route, I'll probably quit watching, because it will just feel racist.

It's so frustrating trying to have a conversation about Louis' narration. The last time I tried, someone accused me of being 'ship-brained' because they believe Loustat has nothing romantic about it and that there's no tenderness between them.I simply pointed out,as neutrally as possible,that we can’t fully trust what Louis has said about their relationship so far because he’s altered a lot of details,and that Armand is also a suspicious figure in Louis’ memories of Lestat. That’s it.But immediately, I got attacked for calling Louis an unreliable narrator and for trying to demonize Armand. Which is insane, because I never said Louis was completely unreliable, just that when it comes to his relationship with Lestat, things are complicated, and we can’t take his words at face value when assessing their love.It’s exhausting. You can’t have a nuanced discussion anywhere without people jumping down your throat.I have never said Loustat had a perfect marriage or was a perfect couple,just that things are more nuanced that what Louis narrated,I'm not waiting for Lestat to be the only truth and if i understand Rolin doesn't want another revisit and s3 will be modte likely Lestat' background + maybe some plot in modern story,I never believed that he would refute everything and Louis is a liar Iand Armand a big bad moustache curling villain.😮‍💨

You know, the fact that people cannot see what a disservice they do Louis by making him into this one-dimensional, flat caricature of himself by removing all the problematic bits.... And I call that "problematic" - because JACOB called him/them monsters, and that it's good that they can be problematic...

The way some people want to remove eeeeeeeeverything that makes Louis in the slightest bit problematic or even an active participant of his own story, and thereby reduce him to this victim only ... this shell is beyond me. I get where it comes from(!), namely from bad stereotypes and racist inflections that have unfortunately been employed again and again at other points - but heaven help, this show is NOT that, and JACOB has already stated all these already - and this need to scream anyone down who dares to point these out is preventing any possibility of real discussion in this fandom - and honestly, THAT is actually the true shame.

Also, re Loustat - ALSO Jacob:

"They are in a romantic relationship in the books. They’re married by the end. Maybe Anne Rice didn’t fully know what their relationship was at first – the style is very different in the first book. Lestat is this kind of goblin monster torturing Louis. But when you look back with the context from further books, you see this man was just very repressed and so hurt by what happened between him and Lestat that he couldn’t acknowledge him as his lover, as his partner, as his great love. But by the second book, they’re absolutely a couple. Still can’t figure out the “electronic mailbox” comment. Armand isn’t stupid. Neither is Daniel.

I really feel like there are DM crumbs throughout the first two seasons. Like Armand had to have known what bringing Daniel there would do. He said he was against the interview, but he still let it happen. He knew the risks. He had to have known saying something so bizarre would alert Daniel that something was off about him. People like to downplay how smart Armand is but his plans aren’t insane because he’s an idiot, they’re because he’s reacting to being cornered. He exists in such an incomprehensible mindset because of the trauma he’s endured that no part of him behaves like a predictable human being anymore but he’s still intelligent, incredibly so actually.

Was he testing Daniel? Was he testing himself, seeing how well the mind-wiping was holding up, especially now that Daniel has a degenerative disease? There are a number of weird details included during Daniel’s stay in Dubai that aren’t quite explained but no part of this show is random, so I have to wonder if they are just breadcrumbs for future DM content, perhaps in season 4 after we’re done with TVL and move onto QotD.

Perhaps it was a clue specifically for us, and not for Daniel, and I’m reading too much into it. I don’t know. Still absolutely insane within the world of the show.

Aww I'm honored to be the first ask! Sorry, I didn't realize until I saw the post how long-winded my comment was lol.

And yes, in a way, I would have loved it (apart from just wanting ALL the brilliant actors on the show to be recognized) if they had just gone, we're probably not getting any noms so let's not worry about it just submit more than one in this category, since they were great. And as I said, I would never want to claim with certainty that there was nothing more sinister at play there, unfortunately. But it is also possible that after the critics choice nominations, they might feel like they at least have a CHANCE at getting nominations that could help promote the show, and Sam was their CC nomination and it's the TVL season, so they'd rather put all their eggs in that basket.

If it helps as a way to think about it, being submitted for a nomination is a good thing, absolutely, but it is NOT a nomination--something that really could make a difference in an actor's career. Assad being on the show and getting acclaim for his role is the main thing, and I think he's going to have a great role next season, between Lestat's past and whatever's happening in the present. I know Assad talked about being excited to go full gremlin lol. And as much as I want to see the show and actors recognized b/c they deserve it, I do think Rolin's attitude of truly, 100% not caring about awards (which are gratifying, but not always perfectly related to merit) is the best way to be, and I love that he has that attitude as a showrunner. No wonder the show isn't afraid to swing for the fences.

Absolutely agree with everything you've said. I, only really, am tired of the the consistency with which the odds are stacked against some people. It's tiring, and I hope that Assad knows how fucking excellent he is and feels recognized and appreciated.

I also can't wait for him to go full gremlin!!!!! and am already delighted and over the moon with what he's gonna deliver. Which is gonna be cunt. 🙂‍↕️

Loumandaniel s3 predictions ( I don't necessarily mean this in a shippy way- this can be about characters too)? ( I know I know we don't have anything to go on- no shooting dates nothing but still).

at the end of the day, the hardest prediction is whether they'll cut the vampire lestat in half. i don't think they should because i'm tired of 8 episode seasons, but they may. anyways, i'm not sure how coherent this is, but ummm bon appétit:

for some plot, i do think louis will take over the interview when they revisit nola+claudia while daniel potentially chases down armand, or interviews marius mid way into s3. regarding armand, marius states in tvl that older vampires need to have another 'death' (sleep) to maintain their sanity with this unending life. so, my opinion has been that he's not intentionally missing from 2022-26, but sleeping under ground. it would be fun to have him wake up to lestat's music (i know this is something lestat does in that book, but idc because it's funnier with armand). he'll likely appear at some point because daniel will want to cross-reference the story of nicolas de lenfent and gabrielle with armand's version. also, in rolin's words they'll have "plot points leading up to devil's minion." there's also no doubt in my mind that an entire episode will be armand's backstory. my hope is that it's armand telling it to daniel rather than lestat, but who knows?

going forward with louis and daniel, situationship? not sure, but i can imagine daniel's begging for it. i think their relationship is on shaky ground from louis' perspective. louis retracted consent on the book, and daniel broke his trust by selling louis' entire life story anyway. to be honest, my number one theory has been that the book was a ploy to tell daniel his precautionary tale of vampirism before louis offered to turn him at the end of the interview. those jokes about louis and armand interviewing for a third? not jokes to me. i take armand's "i hope you'll join us" line in the finale literally. regardless, i think louis is carrying guilt for daniel - not guilt for his being turned, but rather HOW he was turned. that guilt is probably the only thing keeping daniel in louis' good graces. i'm sure the rumspringa journey daniel and lestat go on won't help either.

the big thing i hope and predict for louis and armand is that louis is reconciling that he still loves armand. like, i would really love a scene of louis telling lestat that there's still a lot of love for armand within him, even after learning the truth of the trial. it's something lestat can relate with. i mean, these guys do love armand, but armand is...well, he's armand. louis does forgive, and i don't think he's happy to lose armand. i could imagine he's hoping armand atones so he can have him back in his life. the difference between lestat and armand with louis is that lestat suffered for seventy-seven years with his shame, and armand did not. if he sees that armand is hurting, it would bend louis towards him in my opinion. and hey, after making an impulsive fledgling post-divorce? armand is suffering.

with armand and daniel, predictions get difficult because all we have is the book chapter and really cryptic comments from in and outside of the show (jacob's quotes specifically make me go red string theory crazy). i could expand some other time, but i do think louis and armand were more involved with daniel's life in the 70s than daniel knows. i think there will only be hints at whatever the fuck they've got going on in s3 though, and we won't have complete answers until qotd seasons.

also, i do think daniel's madness arc is definitely still on the table. in fact, i think he's losing his mind in s3. i think it's why armand abandoned him after turning. i've said it before, but daniel's eyes changing colors is either power level or instability. s3 could have moments where daniel is losing his mind, lost in a forgotten memory or start in on the dreams about (book spoilers) the twins. i love daniel being a sponge for characters so having him as this voltron of paul, claudia, amadeo, and nicki that louis, lestat, and armand project onto is so fun to think about.

‪Daniel Hart: I watched Sam's performance over and over again as I'm writing music for these scenes... Still I think/believe there's truth in the version of Lestat that we've seen in S1-2. So I wrote with that Lestat in mind and Lestat from the book TVL.

Long Face was sent out in the end of June 2024 and SDCC was end of July. It was done in six weeks. He wrote it thinking about whom Lestat was singing it to. Rolin said you'd better figure it out, bc Sam will ask these questions! 🤣 Daniel said Sam didn't end up asking him.

Daniel Hart really enjoyed reading the negative comments 😂 they made him smile. He loves ppl expressing themselves and thinks all comments are valid. The take: he won't do an impression of Korn that is gonna be better than Korn. 😁

The TdV part of S2 was nostalgic for him and was easy to get into. He loves musicals. Writing all the theatre stuff was a dream. He really loves working with RJ and Hannah bc they're theatre people.
