First of all, the effort you undoubtedly put into this fic is absolutely phenomenal. The artworks? And for so many different choices? I love the general aesthetic of all of them, this sinister feeling of the weight of water around you, and how you can barely make out vague shapes in the dark. Especially in all the endings I LIVE FOR THAT KIND OF THING!! I cannot imagine how much time this must’ve taken, and your care for this project shows in EVERY GODDAMN LINE. Taking the time to even include a cheat sheet as well! This fic along with dead mall dare are easily some of my favourites your writing style is so EDIBLE I CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE! AND THE BIRTHDAY SURPRISE AUGH /POS ID LOVE TO TALK ABOUT IT HERE BUT SPOILERS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DO THAT SHAKING YOU AFFECTIONATELY

I am once again pointing directly at @artsyfartsybro as they did a SPECTACULAR job in giving me not just those few pieces of art you already saw in Act 1, but the sketches for another ten, with even more on the way! I really do love their style so I was ecstatic when they agreed to work with me on the art for this project.

You're right about it being an enormous undertaking, but I've always had a habit of biting off more than I can chew and still digging in even after because the adrenaline of massive projects fuels me. I'm also just a huge sucker for puzzles and riddles and I'm SO excited to finally put that part of my brain to work here. (That said, I'm still taking precautions not to overwork myself on this, hence why only the first act is out now!)

the character everyone gets wrong

normally I’d say kai winn in terms of like. her being a character that people often don’t engage with beyond a very surface level “she’s a bitch” type stuff but I’ve seen several really interesting posts in the last couple weeks (including at least one longer one I have saved to read) so I think that’s neat! louise fletcher was spectacular at love to hate antagonists so on some level it’s fair to say she is supposed to be that, but I also think there’s a lot more complexity to the writing and portrayal than generally get discussed, including some aspects that should evoke sympathy despite her worst actions, so I think the move towards having some of those discussions is a super interesting one.

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

the thing is I forget wesley is an unpopular character because I exist within the wesley bubble and then I emerge briefly from the bubble and I’m like ohhhh. but like genuinely I think he’s a far more interesting and complex character than he’s given credit for because some people decided they hated him in the first 5 episodes and it became a whole cultural Thing. like i think people should go back and watch outrageous okona -> evolution -> first duty -> journey’s end and tell me that progression doesn’t make you feel a little insane.

25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing

this is not so much a single complaint as a strain of discourse but I think the old/new trek divide is really counterproductive to having meaningful discussions about what particular shows do well or need improvement on. like yes I’m sure there is a subset of people for whom pre 00s trek is flawless and untouchable and anything new sucks, and that’s obviously a bad mentality to have, but I also think it’s reductive to write off any criticism as “well you just hate it because it’s new.”

Ooh, that's an interesting take on abstract art. I completely agree. I love making little abstract art doodles of random shapes and colors because it's fun. And imo they look great. And going to college for art has really helped me make them look better. And as for conveying feelings into it, I find it interesting how maybe one color symbolizes happiness for me, but might symbolize a more sad emotion for someone else. I've always loved abstract art. Also, I want to make some abstract art that has your vibes, but I wanted to ask first. If you're fine with that, would you mind if I tagged you in the finished version, it'll take a few minutes, maybe a few hours to get done.

notebook ; how many notebooks do you have? do you write in them?

one, technically!

i keep one notebook in current rotation, and have done for like. eight? years now? god that makes me feel old. so i've got three old, full notebooks, one i'm almost done with, and an empty one for when i fill the one i'm currently working in. (plus one bonus notebook i'm planning on using for notes for the dnd campaign im in w my friends that's getting started !!)

it's mostly just a place where i scribble down things i want to put on paper; recipes, notes to self, packing lists, doodles, etc etc. i don't usually write like, prose in my notebooks but that's primarily because i don't write much by hand, because it's far slower than typing, which means ill accidentally leave out words and things while writing bc i'm trying to keep up by hand with how fast mny brain is writing, if that makes sense? but i have a handful of notes/brainstorms (especially for long fics, like noble pining) in my notebook from times i wanted to workshop things by hand, and i've gotten in the habit over the last few months to do a final edit by reading through the draft preview after i've formatted on ao3 and writing out line edits by hand in my notebook as i read, and then going back and editing after the fact- so i don't get caught up in editing too much while im trying to read back through, if that makes sense?? so i have a bunch of pages of my messy handwriting w spellchecking and grammar notes and rephrases for old fics from right before i've posted them lmao!!
