While the dog is cute, the rainbow gorgous and the photo composition majestic, those bars on the bench are giving me pause.

It's hard to tell how far apart they are given the perspective and focal length of the shot. Is the space wide enough to reasonably accommodate a sleeping homeless person? If not, then this otherwise wholesome image is marred by hostile architecture.

If anyone knows where this picture was taken and whether or not my concern has merit, I'd appreciate it.

Year One is just the only specific example that I could remember, but from various comics I've gotten the picture that Bruce Wayne dumps all of his cover energy into giving the impression that he's properly in the places he is expected to be for as long as he is expected to be there, not into actually being at those places the full amount of time.

A very healthy and heavy dose of charisma, almost as much of reputation, carefully planned confidence tricks, alibis that don't speak English, hotel managers with a reputation to maintain who will always be more acquiescing and willing to think better of a generous and familiar guest than some nosy cop or reporter, all of these come together to create maximum cover payoff for minimum time spent away from his priorities.

"...even pretended to be me, just for laughs" There's no way that man won't later swear up and down that Bruce Wayne was there the whole time. That personal touch, an inside joke, will go a long way to affecting how he remembers his stay at the lodge. "Bruce Wayne, THE Bruce Wayne, wow, was there... just... somewhere... right? Like he could have answered the phone, but come on, that was hilarious," he thinks if prodded.

It's not that Bruce Wayne has to actually sit through a long brunch listening to gossip, it's that he has to carefully craft his interactions with the people there so that they remember him as being there when they wanted to share gossip and they don't remember that he might have dipped at some point. Better yet, they should remember him as the one who dropped the juiciest gossip of the month at that brunch. They saw him flitting about between tables later, probably discussing that very same gossip, right? He has to use the power of suggestion to fill in the blanks in people's memory and make everything he does seem perfectly rational.

Occasionally, though... yeah, if we want to be very realistic about it, he probably must get caught in his alibis, right? I mean, what kind of person would always find a way out of these things? Some kind of larger-than-life comic book character?

like, we all know the man knows how to throw a gala but where are the brunches? the happy hour gossip session with his cover’s clique of the week? the golf club dinners he has to attend every third week of the month? what about visits to hospitals or schools or the soup kitchens for his philanthropy? come on now

you’re telling me he’s the most sought after celebrity in gotham city and beyond, an infamous playboy and supposed extroverted people person who can use long holidays that can last weeks at a time away in tropical islands supposedly partying it up as a plausible excuse to hide his injuries sometimes but when he’s in gotham he’s either at wayne enterprise meetings or tucked away at home alone? nah

i want to see bruce having to really utilise those meditation breathing skills he learned in the league while he’s having to sit upright in a chair with 4 broken ribs, a sprained wrist and a minor concussion in a painfully bright restaurant at 3pm on a wednesday having to listen to bethany-anne titter on about the latest gossip about her neighbours affair with the maid that’s basically an open secret by now like pls there’s so many different routes you can go with this depending on the genre,,, make bruce have to REALLY commit to that cover of his lmao

I've always been more of a cryptid in modding/gposing since I don't have much time for it, the graphics update requires me to repaint Vivi's makeup from scratch so I'm like ugh. One day I guess.

Now that you mentioned Merope, she is basically the reason why many things turned up what we know today !

She is the turning point of everything throughout the series.

I rather like her as this corrupted but not intrinsically evil mother figure, since the idea of a mother's love is so fundamental to the conception of the books and narratively carries the plot. Usually, especially in children's media, you'd find a "good" mother and an "evil" (step) mother, but Merope isn't bad per se, she's just a victim of her circumstances. She's not in a position to understand or accept that drugging Riddle with a love potion is wrong. She's a true innocent but at the same time she's repulsive to many readers.

I think that people who read her character, and Tom Jr, as: "Voldemort is evil because he wasn't the product of love!!" have a simplistic perception of their characters. Tom Jr's not "just" the product of a rape (or "false love"), he's the product of generational inbreeding and, the subtext heavily implies, incest. He's the product of a deranged woman's desperate escape attempt from that environment, and her delusions of love. Merope obsessing about Riddle, and fleeing her family with the complete opposite of what she was taught she should desire (a Muggle man, a physically good looking and healthy man), feels almost like some sort of animal instinct for survival.

can you explain the story of postal to me?

It varies on the game.

Postal 1 - The story is told through journal entries; Dude is getting evicted from his house and thinks there's a hate plague infecting the town (aptly called Paradise) he moved to. Chaos and destruction ensue.

Postal 2 - Different Dude; moved to a different version of Paradise with his wife known as The Bitch. Spends a week doing errands that range from picking up milk to getting Gary Coleman's autograph on his book to escaping a burning napalm factory. At the end of Friday a hate plague really does infect the town and the newspaper declares it's the apocalypse.

Postal 2: Apocalypse Weekend - Same dude from 2; wakes up Saturday in the hospital after an "unfortunate firearms accident" involving his head. His wife left him, Champ was taken by the pound, and his trailer was repo'd so his quest is to rescue Champ and get his trailer back. Along the way he has hallucinations involving Hell and Gary Coleman demons, and has to deal with things ranging from mad cow tourettes zombies to stealing a nuke from the local military base to the apocalypse...again. At the end he fights Mike J - an employee of RWS who turned into a kosher mad cow demon god and who summons flying Gary Coleman heads to act as a barrier. After that he and his dog drive away as the nuke he stole and set goes off.

Got a case of split time line next.

Postal 3 - Technically the same Dude from 2 but looks way different and has a different voice actor; ends up driving to Paradise's sister town of Catharsis where his car runs out of gas. Shenanigans involving Ron Jeremy, a rhino on meth...twice, and Randy Jones to name a few happen throughout. There's two paths - good path and insane path and three endings. The evil ending has Dude and his dog getting the chair and St. Peter sending them to hell. The neutral ending has Dude get married to Jen Walcott, win the lottery, and write a best selling book. The good ending has Dude become the US president after defeating Hugo Chávez and his invading army during the apocalypse in Catharsis; he sees a big red button and presses it, launching nukes.

Postal 2: Paradise Lost - Same Dude from 2; in this time line his car crashed right after escaping Paradise because his dog jumped out to chase after a wild animal. This left him in an 11-year coma and Postal 3 being retconned as a nightmare. When he finally comes to, he goes to find his dog. Paradise has been rebuilt and has four extreme weather zones due to nuclear fallout. A week of shenanigans ensue again ranging from find out his dog was mutated and sealed away in Hell to aiding a cult led by Gary Coleman against "the tall ones" to arguing with the Dude from Postal 3 (referred to in the game subtitles as "Alternate Dude") over who the dog belongs to while standing in Hell. Also the apocalypse happens again...again. Plus Zack Ward (Dude's actor from the movie) is in the game and ends up believing himself to be the real Dude.

Postal 4: No Regerts - Same Dude from 2 only in like his early 50s now; ends up with his trailer stolen so he walks to the city of Edensin in hopes of finding a job. Same deal - week of increasingly chaotic shenanigans, this time involving things like the Dude dressing in drag to flinging people over a wall into Mexico to waking up in a mountain cabin area with his dog missing and serious Postal 1 vibes going on. Also the apocalypse counter is now at 5.

Postal Redux - A remake of Postal 1, set in 2017 rather than 1997, while also hinting at it taking place after the first game instead of being a straight remake (mainly being that there is a skeleton in the cell Dude ends up in at the end - a skeleton that isn't there in the original game's ending). Technically has a second story through Co-Op mode where four other versions of Dude rampage and end up breaking Dude out of his cell. Then there's the mindfuck Rampage ending where Dude is standing triumphantly on a pyramid littered with several dead Dudes.

Postal Brain Damaged - Unspecified version of Dude falls asleep and has a dream in the form of a boomer shooter. A demon version of himself called Other Dude steals his tv and part of the game is spent chasing him down. There's also a giant mech controlled by Other Dude that serves as the final boss. Dude wakes up after pissing himself.

Postal Mobile - Old Java game; the Dude in this game is probably the most "normal" of the bunch. His car gets stolen and his house burned down in a GTA-esque world.

I adore the way you draw Sammie, he’s so pretty. He’s also been living in my head and driving me nuts for like a month. The fact that the scars elevates his beauty and deepens his character just made me love him even more AAAAHHG. I love that his "sinful" talent aka singing/music isnt treated as actual sin that needs to be purged or condemned.

Sammie's music and gift is treated as a part of himself that HE chooses to keep (very different with how typical horror gothic treats its protagonist, see how Ellen in Nosferatu ended up) despite Sammie's gift literally inviting the devil aka Remmic, he doesnt see it as a curse because music for him is memorial of his lost loved ones, as the truest expression of his soul, and the fact that he keeps singing after that faithful night emphasizes that you can't live life without experiencing the bad side of it. You cant keep on chaining yourself to some boxes of someone's making because you're too scared to be yourself. Yes, melancholy will make home inside you, and you will remember what you lost along the way, you might even wake up at night because of fear but thats just life and you only have one mortal life to be yourself, and Sammie made sure he doesnt waste his!!! 😭

Veilguard is all about characters succeeding where their mirror/foil/counterpart failed, I get that, but making Morrigan an exception to Mythal's influence was so silly.

Let me get this straight. Mythal's will was strong enough to bind Solas to her service. Strong enough to make Flemeth devote her existence to vengeance. But motherly love protected Morrigan. She's just. Completely unaffected. Like what do you meannnn. 😩
