The beat that always stuck with me in regards to Uber and Leet was when Taylor mentions that they beat up sex workers on livestream while LARPing Grand Theft Auto. Uber and Leet get a lot of mentions before they actually show up, and the drumbeat is that they're pathetic, they're fodder, "as incompetent as supervillains can be while staying out of jail." Leet is the butt of a rom-com gag where Brian gives Taylor pointers on how to choke a man out more effectively. But they made money by beating up sex workers on livestream. That's a non-negligible number of potentially ruined lives! That's not softball fun-and-games! It's like textbook misogynistic violence against the marginalized! It's awful!
The narrative doesn't really dwell on this, because it's told almost exclusively from the perspective of people who have the firepower necessary to get away with treating Uber and Leet like jokes. But I think that it's a useful reminder that if you aren't one of the initiated, so to speak, then an encounter with the C-list, D-list, Z-list supervillain can be life-altering if not life-ending. The dumbest listicle-fodder DC or Marvel villain you've ever heard of has probably ruined at least one person's life over their handful of appearances, if not more. And it's an early indictment of the broad concept of the unwritten rules as advanced by Lisa, where she calls out Uber and Leet as the textbook example of villains kept in circulation because they're "amusing but harmless." This is within parameters? This doesn't merit heroes and villains putting aside their differences to clean house of problematic elements? Of course it doesn't. Both examples that Lisa gives of that dynamic in 3.6 involve a cape transgressing against another cape.

Uber and Leet had minions???
I feel like Worm sort of abandoned the idea of casual minion joining (as in, sort of open secret) until the S9. Which makes sense, because joining a supervillain to help them commit crimes is, uh, illegal and you wouldn't want that spreading around. Which makes it odd to see it here so early

my biggest Worm confession is that if parahumans were real I would be a HUGE Uber and Leet fan.
Pretransition I loved me some problematic gamer boys so gamer boys who also do crime and are cringe fail losers? I’d be all over them. In a heartbeat. Like subbed to the patreon and owning merch kind of fan. Tier 3 sub on twitch kind of fan.
Posttransition? I’m making insane edits of them saying gay shit to each other to ensure that everyone else sees my vision. Just really harping on and writing RPF and being slightly deranged about it. Like Dan and Phil fans used to be.

Heroify Uber and Leet
Uber and Leet are rogues tap-dancing on the edge of being independent heroes, but not to the extent of being able to reap the reputational benefits of really committing to it. They're principally entertainers- using Leet's engineering and Uber's skill-copying to attempt to do [popular media] IN REAL LIFE! style of clickbait, and they're actually pretty good at it- except that since many of the weapons are fully functioning, they constantly have to relocate their studio and workshop because villains keep jumping them mid-shoot for their metaphorical lunch money. The first time they really got mad about it and livestreamed their retaliatory attack on one of their robbers, their subscriber count tripled; they still mostly do the clickbait item reproduction thing, but it's kind of an open secret that they're deliberately courting more raids from villains so that they can reap the viewership boost from a tit-for-tat, and people who pay enough attention to the underlying dynamics at play think that they're pretty gross for doing so.

Shell 4.5 Live Reactions
(This is me, writing reactions as I read, because why the fuck not. They're not complete, mature thoughts taken after I sit back and evaluate what I've read. Consider them as such)
In silence, we caught the bus at the ferry and got off at the Trainyard, the part of the Docks that sat opposite to the Boardwalk.
There is just something so deliciously absurd about the mental image of supervillains, even teenage ones, just... riding the bus. Granted, they're (presumably) not doing it in costume, but still.
slanted just enough that people wouldn’t be able to comfortably walk or sleep on top of them.
Ah yes, gotta love hostile architecture.
“If you asked me five hours ago, I would’ve said no,” Regent replied.  “I would have told you, sure, she’s a loose cannon, she’s reckless, crazy, she’s easily pissed off and she’ll hospitalize those people who do piss her off
but I’d have said she’s loyal, that even if she doesn’t necessarily like us-”
I mean, trust but verify and all that. No Rachel, no money, it's a safe assumption.
A soft clapping answered her.  It was slow, unenthusiastic to the point of being sarcastic. “Brilliantly deduced,” the same person that had been clapping spoke out.  As Tattletale whipped her head around, I took a few steps back from the storage locker, to get a better look at the two people who stood on the roof.
It's cliche, but I always like the 'character watching the protagonists figure it out and then do the sarcastic clap' trope.
They were standing with one leg higher than the other, to keep from sliding off the angled roof, and both were wearing identical costumes.  The costumes sported blue man-leotards with broad belts cinched around their waists, skintight white sleeve and leggings.  Their hoods were elastic, clinging to their heads so they left only a window for the face, and each sported a single white antenna.  Of all colors, their gloves, boots and the balls at the top of their antennae were bubblegum pink.  Their faces were obscured by oversize goggles with dark lenses.
Which... which video game is this?
“Rest assured, Tattletale, you do,” Über proclaimed.  He was the sort of person who proclaimed, announced, broadcasted and declared.  Just like Grue’s power altered his voice to make him sound haunting and inhuman, Über’s power made him sound like the guy who narrated trailers for action movies or late night commercials.  Overdramatic, intense about everything he said, no matter how mundane.  Like someone overacting the role of a gallant knight in a kid’s movie.
Evocative. I do think Wildbow's willingness to do descriptions like this (helped by using 1st person narrative, which I do think facilitates this sort of thing) whereas a lot of conventional writing wisdom would say to not do this, is a big part of Worm's success, honestly.
Leet frowned and turned to the camera, “Is that really necessary?” “You fucked with us,” I replied, “I fuck with your subscriber base.”
Hit 'em where it hurts.
He didn’t get to finish.  Regent swung his arm out to one side, and Über lost his footing.  I joined the others in stepping back out of the way as he fell face first onto the pavement at the base of the locker.
Regent's abilities would probably let him do well at slapstick improv shows or something. I mean, you don't need to fake a trip and fall with him around.
Grue spoke in a low voice that wouldn’t carry to the pair of villains, “They did something to Bitch, they’ve got the money.  If we don’t get a decisive victory here, our reputation is fucked.”
Villain fight!
I wonder if, during her career as a villain, Taylor fights other villains more than heroes. From what I know of Worm, I wouldn't be surprised. But how much more, pound for pound?
This was the sort of thing I had put on a costume to do.  Sure, the context wasn’t what I would have chosen, but going up against bad guys?
As far as some of Taylor's various rationalization's go, this isn't even a particularly dangerous or slipper one.

Uber and Leet!
The videogame duo that gets hardly any attention. Probably because canonically they don't have normal costumes, just whatever game they're covering.
Here though I couldn't just throw them in random video game outfits, that's just plain boring! So I took inspiration from various classic video game characters and console accessories.
For Uber, I took influence from Samus's zero suit and her power armor's helmet. And for Leet, I took a big mix of influences. For example, his gloves are basically the power glove and his gun's based on the vast number of gun controllers for early consoles.
It's a shame how little attention these guys get despite being both the second physical confrontation the Undersiders have and the first showing of Taylor's beginning descent into being just as cruel as her bullies.
Uber also gets with best enby Circus, albeit briefly and after Leet's literal murder. Stay tuned for art of both.
