My Sims 3 Urbz (GBA/DS) Sims

Well, Urbz + like 3 other random sims from other handheld games.

i don't usually play TS3, but since i am actually considering dropping ts4 for it... i wanted another go! and to see what I already did in this game ages ago.

I don't know when most of these were made. At least 2 years ago. I didn't touch them from then (so, they are of... varying qualities. + i probably changed some defaults at some point, so their skin color is... probably also different from what i originally chose), and they don't use any CC outside of defaults nor store content. (I THINK...)

since there's a lot (41 of them), I'll be splitting them across two posts! This one, with 20, and the other one here with 21!

I've been playing an Uberhood save file by @anotherplumbob and loving this family I've ended up with. I married Malcolm Landgraab with @saturnwhims sim Claire Bishop and it just works, all their kids are so cute. They're so old money and chic lol. This is them getting their family portrait taken by my photographer sim. (They actually just had another surprise baby too - not pictured)

i caved and bought the legacy collection out of curiosity

i bought it on steam by the way, no way am I going anywhere near the ea app

random thoughts as i go along:

game loaded up straight away with no issues (what a strange feeling)

got into pleasantview within 2 minutes (obvs I have no cc installed right now so its gonna be faster anyway)

a bit of a jumpscare to see the game again without reshade ngl

straight into the lothario household. don you look... different without all my defaults

screen resolution defaulted to the right size without me having to change anything by the way, which was nice

turned up all the graphics setting to max and going to visit the goth household as that always gives me lag, even vanilla

this experience is already making me realise I need to cut down my 12gb downloads folder, cos man this is so smooth and fast without all of that in my game

well everything is working perfectly straight out of the box. had no issues with multiple sims on the big goth lot

going to quit and load up again with my ui mods and defaults next (along with hugelunatic's ikea pack as cc)

legacy collection has an entirely different file path by the way, so won't mess with existing ultimate collection installs (i wouldn't have dared to do this otherwise)

okay all my defaults, ui mods and some others are now in (downloads folder is up to 3.64gb now) and everything is working fine still

ikea items as cc don't seem to be fully appearing in the catalog though? that might be a me problem but i dont know

adding in all my cas cc now, along with hood defaults and hood deco cc (downloads folder is up to 6.5gb now). i'm also adding in anything else I can think of like camera mods, user startup cheat etc etc

getting into pleasantview in less than 2 mins still

heading into cas for the first time now...

... and it loaded up within 10 seconds even with ALL of my cas cc? and this is the first time too so I would've expected major lag. normally cas takes about 60 seconds to load in my game

update on the ikea pack as cc... the build items are definitely there, but not the buy for some reason?

biting the bullet and adding in the remaining 6gb of my 12gb downloads folder

all of my cc is now in the game and loading times were about 30 seconds longer than before. still no issues

took darren dreamer to a community lot and there were no crashes/issues/lag. normally going to a community lot is very dangerous for me cos its where I get the most crashes or issues, its why all my community lots are incredibly small lot sizes

also I have the hood deco view set to extra large... normally I have to have it set to extra small just to play in a small household

i dont think I'm being delulu here to say things are running better

next up is adding in all of my mods, then after that I might dare putting in my mega populated uberhood save, and try reshade?

another ikea update: everything is showing up now. it was me being an idiot

so all of my mods are now also in (so my entire downloads folder now) and i haven't been able to trigger any crashes or pink soup yet through normal gameplay? even with extra large hood view from lots

reshade keeps crashing my game on startup... damn, what am I doing wrong

I finally added in my uberhood save (which is packed with hood deco and and has 35 playable families).... and it's working! I also played with a household for a bit and everything was working fine

final update before I go to bed (as its gone midnight here lol)

i now have all of my mods, cc, saves, and reshade installed, and I've yet to have any pink soup or crashes (apart from the crashes when I was *incorrectly* trying to install reshade). honestly... i'm surprised. i dont want to speak too soon obviously, but things seem better. i was just playing in a household with extra large lot view on and that would usually IMMEDIATELY crash my game, but nothing happened. tomorrow i'll actually play for an extended period of time, so i'll be able to tell more for sure then.

i hope this has been helpful to at least a couple of people, and i'll leave with you a shot of my pleasantview newly loaded up in the legacy collection 😅

🏜️ Now that I've finished the TS1t2 Neighborhood Conversion Project, I'm working on a version of StrangeTown to showcase the transition story, as well as the one presented in The Sims 2. It's a mix between StrangeTown and TS4 Strangerville (one of the rare thing i like about the Sims 4). How did OldTown become PleasantView? What is the origin of StrangeTown and its mysterious inhabitants? 🖖

🏘️ This will serve as the basis for my uberhood (Pleasantview + StrangeTown + BelladonaCove + RiverBlossom Hills + Family bins + PleasantView original townie pool). I think i'm gonna use the Riverside subhood sims to complete the uberhood ancestors, it supposed to be the Sims 2 first neighborhood.

🏠 Some of lots used are StrangeTown premade lots by @plumbtales, some are remade Bespoke Houses by @honeywell-mts and the rest is premade maxis lots I remade in @jodeliejodelie's style (the files made my game crash, but her designs are amazing, go check !)

The terrain that I use is one I made ages ago, and i lost the SC4 file. I use Mootilda's HoodReplace to duplicate it to my new saves. BUT I included it in my "populated TS1 subhood" if you want to use it as an extension of OldTown.

🌾 I also include a rural part of the town, where Olivia Specter's ranch is and where the Nigmos family lived before Ophelia's parents death (in my story, they were killed by a vampire).

Uberhood 2024 Update By AnotherPlumbob (CC free)

The Uberhood is an ongoing PROJECT where I’m creating a Cc-free savefile, with all the worlds and lore from The Sims 2 ported to The Sims 4. 

NOTE: In this update I've revamped PLEASANTVIEW only - if you were interested in the other worlds or premades, please note they remain exactly as they were in the previous versions.

It currently includes

1.- Remade Worlds

Pleasantview (Newcrest+Willow Creek)

Strangetown (Strangerville+Oasis Springs)

Veronaville (Windenburg)

Bluewater Promenade (Magnolia Promenade)

Three Lakes (Granite Falls)

Bluewater Bay [only partially built] (Brindleton Bay)

All the career lots (detective, hospital and science lab).

BEWARE: the rest of the worlds are either empty, half built or a mess in general.

2.- Families

The save includes all the premade families as well as the iconic townies that lived in those worlds in The Sims 2 times. They all have jobs, relationships, sentiments, lifestyles, reputations, etc. For Pleasantview sims only I've also included more lore in the form of milestones, added traits, midlife crisis, etc.

3. Required packs and How to Install (PLEASE READ)

THE SAVE IS CC-FREE BUT ALL EXPANSION, GAME PACKS,STUFF PACKS AND KITS RELEASED UP UNTIL MARCH 2024. 

If you don’t have all packs, sims may be half naked, and/or bald and stuff may be missing. Install at your own risk. 

In order to install:

BACK UP YOUR SAVES.

Download the the SAVE file.

Put the save in your SAVES folder.  Documents > Electronic Arts > Sims 4 > Saves. I changed the name of the file so that it will hopefully not overwrite any of your saves (including the previous v1). If your system prompts you to overwrite a save, do not click yes. Just change the name of the save (keep it 8 numbers but change the numbers) and try again.

Optional: Put the .package file (StrangetownTexts.package) in your mods folder. This file is used to change the Strangerville mystery a bit, and turn it into the Strangetown mystery (with custom texts, references to the Bella mystery, etc.). Please install it if you want to have some clues on what happened to Bella!! 

4. Play Order

There’s really no set play order but note that:

1.- Brandi Broke is pregnant and will give birth in 3 days regardless of who you play and regardless of whether aging is on or off, so play with her first if you want to be there for the birth.

2.- Same thing applies to Pascal Curious, who’s also pregnant at the start of the save.

5. Disclaimer and TOU

I’m just one person and there may be some bugs here or there, or naked sims or whatever. Feel free to report any bugs you find but I will only fix them if I consider them super relevant or game breaking, otherwise the save is provided as is and you install it at your own risk.

Also please don't waste your breath asking me to do X world, or add lore to Veronaville or Strangetown or whatever, because I will only do it if and when I'm inspired to do it - and the requests quite honestly stress me out.

What is my Uberhood Project?

I am planning on making an uberhood project that connects (and corrects*) all of the lore of the sims 1, 2, 3, and 4 into one downloadable neighborhood save (for the sims 2!!)

What does that actually mean?

I want all of the families to have accurate and realistic (within reason), memories, friends, enemies, family heirlooms, and town relics.

In order to do this, I am going to be completely recreating all the families and their family trees and begin by making their first ancestors in sims 2 bodyshop with canonically accurate genetics * and then personally "playing" through generations, making sure the right families are introduced at the right generation and all the sims are born in game with genetically correct appearances.

Why bother?

My original desire was just to begin playing a new rotational generational playthrough, but starting a decade "early" version and noticing that the currently available early megahoods I could find would have families who had no or missing ancestors, childhood memories or photos in the family album. This is completely fair to the creators of any of those megahoods, it's a lot, but the more I originally tried to just change, the more I wanted to change and ultimately decided it would be easier to just make my own.

When you play the Goth family, it would be Mortimer, Cassandra, etc but they would have full family trees, they would have proper graves in their back yard, photos in their albums, paintings on the wall that Victor Goth painted while he was alive and deco created by Lady RavenDancer Goth (these are random examples)

What are canonically accurate genetics?

Some ancestors that the premades from the actual sims 2 come with canon genetics as cited on websites like simswiki. HOWEVER, that is only for ancestors of premades that are in Sims 2, specifically as well as there being lore and timeline discrepancies between the games.

Certain families, specifically from Sims 1, are only 1 or 2 generations and, therefore, may be added or expanded on, and where ancestors may not have exact descriptions of sims 2 face templates, I intend to look at all the other family members in the sims 2 or what the models look like in the other games and base appearances accordingly.

For Example, in the Sims 1, Victor Goth is not mentioned. In the sims 2, he is a deceased ancestor of the Goth family. In the sims 3, he is still just a deceased ancestor of the playable Goth family BUT, his brother, Samuel Goth, is a playable ghost. This creates a plot hole, if Victor has a brother, he needs parents to properly connect them on the family tree, but no parents are directly connected in the lore, so what do we do?

This is an example of one of my "lore edits," Victor and Samuel Goth need parents, and although there is no canon answer, we can deduct a lore friendly one.

In Sims 3 pets for console, there is a reference to a ghost named Timaeus, who is the oldest known member of the Goth family. He is the captain of the "The Hawthorn" and one of the founders of Sugar Maple Coast, previously known as Gilman Hill. He was said to have married Angela Gilman. This would, however, not explain all of the Goth ancestry, so it can not be the full answer.

Lady RavenDancer Goth is also their ancestor and should also be represented, so again, what do we do?

Here is what I currently came up with. I didn't like how "Consort Capp" didn't have an "birth name" for before he was a consort of Consetta Capp, and in looking into the Capp family, noticed a lot of names referring to royalty and the last name Thebe, but none of them have been reused for connecting them to Princess Cornelia Thebe either. SO, I renamed "Consort" as "Clemente Goth," Gunther Goth's brother, who takes his wife's name, Capp, still. Going back to ancestry, I made Timaeus and Angela Goth have a baby boy named Alexander Goth, who ends up marrying Lady RavenDancer of Thebes, the younger sister of Princess Cordelia. I created parents from Raven and Cordelia named King Kassandros of Thebes and Queen Nymphadora of Verona (these will have been the rulers of the kingdom that Princess Cordelia was originally from when they were fleeing the Great Sloth invasion)

Since Princess Cordelia dated multiple pirates, I was also planning on having her marry Admiral Landgraab and become their ancestor.

What if I don't like these changes?

I do have to connect and change certain things because, due to different game mechanics, the sims timeline does not always all line up on it's own and a real "perfect" lore accurate hood with every family would be too inconsistent (which Landgraab family would you use? etc etc)

HOWEVER, I am going to be doing all of my research and posting everything on here as I go, so if anyone has any feedback before I finish this, I will always be open to discuss and create the best version for the greater community

🎵 last song: I don't actually remember, but looking through my Youtube history is was Ex-Girlfriend by No Doubt, which makes sense. The album its on (return of saturn) has been on of my favourites over the last year, the songs are so fun but are mostly about doomed relationships between incompatible people... no surprise this is a theme i really enjoy lmao, it crops up in almost all my stories (I associate the song particularly with Ayanna from Robin River! haha)

🌈 favourite colour: I don't really have a particular favourite but if I had to pick on, turquoise, I guess! It looks good with basically everyhting and I quite often dye my hair that colour.

📺 currently watching: Coronation Street... tbh its a nightmare show to keep up with at 3 episodes a week but if u like slice of life melodrama classic british soap opreas cannot be beat!!

I'm also watching Andor S2 with some freinds, we make a real event out of it and its really fun! The show has been sooooooo good so far. Cassian Andor is my poor little meow meow...

🎥 last movie: New Jack City, which was a really fun movie! I loved how it had some incredibly serious & dark parts and some incredibly silly parts with a ton of melodrama, just what I like out of a crime flick! (Scarface is one of my all-time favourite films and this definitely felt like it was on the same wavelengh.)

I also watched WWE's Backlash PPV the other day, overall I found it a little dissapointing but it had its moments! It has been fun getting back into wrestling lately

📚 currently reading: I have 3-4 books I have started but all of them I have not read in a little while for various reasons (I am a notorious stop-starter with books unless I get very deeply hooked)😅

On my current reading list: Crime & Punishment (Dostoevsky), Peaces (Helen Oyeyemi) & A Lady's Captivity among Chinese Pirates (Fanny Loviot). Then the other day I picked up Romance of the Three Kingdoms (and 2 other books I really did not need LOL) which I am dessssssperate to read but I feel like I need to finish the others first, hahaha! I have a nice copy of the Hobbit I have been wanting to start, too! Hmm, maybe I will actually read today instead of faffing about with Sims

❤️ relationship: I have a partner, Josef, and we've been together about 10 years now! We live together & its pretty great, I always think we are insanely lucky to have found each other ❤️

🗺️ current obsession: mostly it is my sims stuff, haha! I'm especially obsessed with the Uberhood Challenge and my medieval hood, Driftwood. Which Driftwood I find myself constantly doing little bits of research on the manoral system, etc...

I don't really have any other obsessions currently, but a couple of months ago I had quite a serious Dwarf Fortress phase and was getting really into building "above ground" fortresses and making them look like little villages!

there's a few history questions like "could medieval manors have multiple gentry families" (this is because the MCC has a second gentry family show up when you get to Level 3 and I wasn't sure how to handle since afaik usually one family, the Lord of the Manor, would own all the land the village was in. I'm leaning towards giving the 2nd family the land across the river and calling it a seperate manor... anyway I'll save the details of this ramble for when i am actually at this point in the challenge, LOL)

another search is "how big is a "huge" monster 5e", I was trying to figure out how to describe a hydra for our D&D game on sunday :D

🖥️ currently working on: I need to do some job apps, record the next uberhood episode, then get on with backing up the most recent season of my Driftwood MCC on my website.

The website is my current "big project" in general - I am very sentimental about all my old stories and don't have that much faith in tumblr as a platform so its really important to me to get everything backed up properly! It's a very slow process though getting it all formatted nicely etc etc 😅

An Uberhood!

I started a full Uberhood a looooong time ago but found it to be too much. So I'm starting this one with just the three base game neighbourhoods + universities + downtown. (It's still a lot...)

I'm not quitting my other neighbourhoods but it's nice to have different saves to play with whatever I'm feeling.

There will probably be some lot renovations later, but for now I just want to play each household for a day!

I’ve spent the past few weekends setting up a save for the Unlocking the Uberhood from @clouseplayssims…I haven’t gotten very far in yet, I’ve just played the set up round for three households so far lol but I’m excited to do this.

I love the concept of uberhoods and I used to attempt to play some but I would immediately get overwhelmed by the amount of sims. At least with this challenge, it would be gradual rather than all at once lol.

I’ve added three additional households to start with in addition to the original PV families: Kaylynn Langerak, Gordon King and Cyd Roseland.

I have a very basic spreadsheet set up to help me keep track of things - thinking the first unlock I’ll actively go for is a Tropical Vacation hood (originally says Twikki Island in the rules but I’ve changed it for myself so I can choose between that or one of the custom tropical hoods I have 😆
