Government plans to move away from gender-neutral toilets and ensure every new public building in the UK has separate facilities for males and females, contradicts the findings of a study it conducted.

According to a government consultation on toilet provisions, which more than 17,500 people responded to in 2021, most responses (83 per cent) were supportive of gender-neutral toilets, while just 12 per cent were in favour single-sex toilets.

Six per cent of respondents supported gender-neutral toilets in addition to single-sex ones.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Martin Lewis is a journalist specialising in money saving advice. He’s been one of the most prominent people speaking out about the cost of living crisis occurring in the UK, particularly the increase in energy prices, and is constantly trying to provide the best and most up-to-date information to people who are extremely concerned about how they will be able to afford basic necessities in the coming months as prices soar.

Tonight he posted tweets providing updated advice regarding energy bills, which many people are currently having to navigate following announcements from the government earlier today about tariffs.

And so many replies were along the lines of “this is not the time, have some respect”

You know what’s not respectful? Telling someone who is simply trying his best to help people not freeze or starve to death in their own homes that he shouldn’t be sharing important, time-sensitive information about how they can save money, just because a 96 year-old who never had to worry about affording anything in her whole goddamn life died!

I’m already sick of people acting like the major issues of this country suddenly don’t matter because the Queen died. That somehow the problems affecting the millions of people in this country living in poverty can be quietly swept aside for the coming weeks and months, despite this being the most crucial time for action to be taken to prevent mass suffering.

If Rishi Sunak actually goes through with 'mandatory Maths A levels for all students', I would like to know some things.

Does this mean he is going to give schools more funding to employ more teachers to teach more A level maths?

What about the people who already struggle with GCSE maths and will have their mental health impacted?

Will he fund more schools to have propper mental health systems and more student support staff to support those students?

Will he fund study programs for people failing the A levels?

Just going to say, that the GCSE maths curriculum is ridiculously hard and unnecessary as is for students, and students who are not interested in going into a maths oriented career do not need to take A level maths.

I personally am currently in my first 3 weeks of GCSE maths, and I understand NONE OF IT, so if Rishi could please explain what he will do to help kids like me when they eventually reach A levels after a gruelling 2 years of not understanding GCSE maths and getting bad grades, that would be fantastic, but he won't, so we just have to wait and see what bullshit he does.

I know it's gotta be shit right now. Antisemitism is on the rise. People are using Israel's genocide as an excuse to perpetuate antisemitic ideas. If you acknowledge that you're Jewish, someone will take that as an excuse to accuse you of Zionism and supporting the genocide. Celebrating your holidays? Same result.

And then on the other side, if you try to speak out against the genocide, to stick up for and show your support of the Palestinian people, your own people label you as an Enemy, and an antisemite. Your own Jewish identity is ignored or denied.

If you say nothing because you've realized nothing you say seems to be the right thing, you're accused by everyone of not caring, or secretly supporting one side - any maybe you do, but you can't say anything because you can't win no matter what side you're on.

The entire world has been equating Judaism with Israel on both sides and it isn't fair. It isn't fair when Jewish people are being arrested for antisemitic crimes in Germany - making up 37% of arrests despite making up a significantly smaller part of the population - because they weren't going to be quiet about genocide after their own people were met with silence during the Holocaust. It isn't fair when Jewish people are vocally denouncing the actions of Israel and calling for an end to the ruthless bombing. It isn't fair when even some Israelis risk everything to speak out against the state and their horrible crimes. It isn't fair when Jewish people are simply existing as Jewish people, either. Even when they aren't "proving" their support, it's still unfair to make such assumptions about someone because they're Jewish

And if you're one of these people who's shown hostility towards Jewish people over Palestine when they hadn't indicated they supported Israel at all, fuck you.

Y'all know what's most fucked up about the whole political chaos recently? It's that those who actually know how to run an efficient government and have studied politics in-depth will NEVER run for office. I know at least 5 senior staff members from my political science department who have become consultants and advisors for governments and International Organisations when they've hit the wall and are one step away from causing a global catastrophe but they would rather have really shit pay in academia than ever go into politics.

I personally know NO ONE in my cohort who wanted to run for office or at least be a civil servant. It truly says a lot that those who have researched and studied the most on the topic are the ones most reluctant to enter the field. NO ONE hates politicians more than a political science student. And frankly, this is because we are the ones who understand the most how fucked up, nasty, and inefficient the system really is.

This is also why it's not rare to see government cabinets run entirely by people who have never studied politics or at least government management (e.g., most UK politicians read english or philosophy in oxbridge and network their bloody way up to the top). We ended up with a bunch of people who are excellent public speakers and charismatic bullshitters, but very rarely one who knows how a public policy project should be designed. That's why there are so many demands for political consultants from national governments these days. MP offices recruit at least 3 INTERNS from our department per term just to do very basic ground research and policy-shaping for them.

They ain't got a clue guys. I would swallow a toad before I buy into any word that they feed you.
