One of the best things about Disco Elysium by far is that it does not fear ugly women. The world is full of ugly men, but ugly women are so hard to come by.

#I'm not calling the characters ugly btw #i don't believe any one can be ugly #i do not care for beauty standards and thus i don't rank people based on how “ugly” or “pretty” they are #but the characters in DE do not meet the conventional beauty standards and look like actual people with unique faces #and thus would be considered “ugly”#and that is so important to me. i go feral whenever media represents how people look like in real life and not how they look like in the #fictional parallel universe where everyone is a model and where a majority of the movies take place #because irl you don't have to be a model to be desirable #the most attractive man in any video game I've ever played has a receding hairline and a big nose and thick glasses and a small chin #and not only is representing realistic people. just good. in general. but it makes the character of Dolores Dei stand out so much more which #works for the game so well. she's barely human. she's a deity- a myth- a legend. the only version that exists of her now is the one with #glowing lungs. she's perfectly beautiful because she's inhuman. the fact that everybody else looks so human only highlights how inhuman she #has become yk?#if everyone was as conventionally attractive as her then she wouldn't stand out. we wouldn't get why she's so special.#disco elysium #disco elysium analysis #media analysis #beauty standards #this is only one aspect of how this game portrays real people btw. as someone interested in character design this just immediately stood out #to me #the first time i noticed it was when i first met garte and the second time was when i met ruby because neither are conventionally desirable #oh my fucking god the nerds who complain about a woman with a model face having body hair in a video game would perish if they played this #mainstream game/movie studios catering to western masses could never

#kingdom hearts 3 #kh3 #arendelle #scenery #my gif #it's nighttime when you first arrive in this world and you get to see the auroras shimmering in the sky #it's very beautiful but once you reach a certain point in the game it becomes daytime and you're not able to view this world at night again #that's pretty unique and i can't think of any other worlds that are like that #except maybe the kingdom of corona when you see the lanterns fly at night but that's just for a short segment #at least san fransokyo gives you a choice to view the city during night or day #anyways i'm glad i had an older save file that i was able to return back to so i could get shots of this world at night #i would have included elsa's castle but every angle i tried looked really awkward and bad lol #i don't use mods when collecting footage so some things are out of my hands when trying to get a nice shot #how sad is it that the interior of her castle is fully modeled (you can see right through the front doors) but you can't go inside #all of the characters stand in a line outside the castle and i wonder why they couldn't just hang out indoors #let me in. let me innnnnn

One of my conditions went dormant so I'm mentally and emotionally in a much better place.#I bought the latest update to Clip Studio Paint today and the puppet warp was the new feature I wanted to play with most.#I think I much prefer making puppet/model/rig animation over hand drawn. It works with my brain better.#The Johnny drawing was all one layer. I think next time I'd like to try multiple layers of animation.#This animation only has 4 unique frames. You could probably get it real smooth if you added more tweens.#But I am a wee baby animator with not enough time. I like the choppiness with the traditional art style actually!#offerings

So I noticed that Same Dreams Same Colors An has her hair up in a ponytail in her untrained, and since it’s untrained / permanent, you can’t obtain the hairstyle or see it in game outside of that card art. Which got me wondering what other instances there are of this?

Basically how many instances (if there are any others) are there where untrained or permanent card art will have a unique hairstyle that’s completely unobtainable in game?

these are all of them i think. the only characters missing are ichika, haruka, akito, emu, and mizuki. not counting childhood hairstyles.

i'm not sure whether to count these two, since they both have limited hairstyles that are incredibly close to them (fes 1 mafuyu and valentines airi). if it's anything a lot of early lim hairstyles resused parts of the default hair models, usually the bangs.

#(ponytail shizuku is there twice since her hair is styled slightly differently between both)#(i could've actually included her a third time but i didn't think it was unique enough (lead to shine untrained))#(also tsukasa's card there is either a wig or hair extensions)#asks #(oh also default mafuyu is there bc of the good girl hairstyle. it's not usable in-game)#(and minori and ena have no braids here which are modelled onto their default hairstyles in-game)
