AN ‘I FEEL’ STATEMENT. / S.REID / SUMMARY - Spencer and you interrogate a suspect
PAIRING: bau!reader x spencer reid / w/c: 1.7K / ???
a/n: guess who this is based on and win a cookie
Tumblr media
Spencer didn’t even look up when you barged into the motel room.
“Don’t say it,” he said, flipping a page in the case file.
You froze in the doorway, still halfway through pulling off your FBI jacket. “Say what?”
“That the crime scene smelled like expired deli meat and failure.”
You made a face. “Okay, rude. That’s classic FBI fieldwork ambiance.”
He looked up and smirked. “You’re predictable.”
You tossed your jacket on the chair and flopped onto the bed beside him. “You like me because I’m predictable.”
“I love you in spite of it.”
You stuck your tongue out and stole the file from his hands. “Alright, Dr. Sass, what do we know?”
“Third victim, male, 30s, found in an alley behind a gas station that sells ‘hot dogs’ that may or may not be actual meat,” Spencer replied with a snarky tone , leaning back against the headboard. “Ligature marks, same positioning as the first two. Garcia’s running facial rec now.”
You flipped through the photos. “This guy looks like my ex.”
Spencer tilted his head. “Which one? Also…You dated a guy with a neck tattoo that says Loyalty Over Everything?”
“He had a motorcycle and a soft spot for cats. It was a phase…. And the tattoo said ‘I’m a dick’ in Chinese.”
“I sincerely hope your standards have risen.”
You gave him a smug look. “Please. I’m dating a literal genius with three PhDs. I upgraded.”
He hummed. “Four soon.”
“Whatever,” you said, nudging his arm. “You’re basically the FBI’s version of a trophy husband.”
He blinked. “Are you saying I’m your trophy husband?”
“Yeah. Except instead of a yacht I got… trauma and access to crime scenes. I guess?”
Spencer rolled his eyes but couldn’t hide the smile tugging at his lips. “Romantic.”
You snickered. “That’s what they all say.”
For a while, you worked in comfortable silence, both reading over the files. The motel TV buzzed in the background, playing a rerun of some bad soap opera where the acting was worse than your last polygraph subject.
“So,” you said eventually, “you think this guy’s trying to make a point? The symmetry, the posing, the weird ‘I’m not mad, just disappointed’ energy of it all?”
Spencer looked thoughtful. “He’s definitely performing. But it’s subtle. Less drama, more… statement.”
“Like a TED Talk, but make it murder.”
“Exactly.”
You laughed. “I fucking hate Ted talks, people who talk for hours like that are so annoying.”
He glanced sideways at you. “Speak for yourself. I’m adorable.”
“You’re adorable in a ‘my girlfriend wants to kick my ass daily’ kind of way.”
“To be fair, you want to kick everyone’s ass. Some more sensually than others.”
“HEY! Me and Emily had a deal. Have you seen— actually don’t answer that I’d have to kill you.”
“I find you so oddly attractive.” He said, looking a bit perplexed by his own taste.
You bumped his shoulder gently. “You always say that like you’re surprised.”
Spencer gave you a soft look, the kind he saved for when the world got too heavy. “I’m not. You’re annoying and incredible.”
You grinned. “Aw. You’re such a sap when we’re surrounded by homicide photos. You should be more mindful of the dead,”
“Don’t ruin it.”
He leaned in to kiss you, brief and warm. Then he stole the case file back like the nerd he was.
“Fine,” you said, standing up and stretching. “I’ll go see if Morgan found anything useful, or if he’s just flirting with the local deputy again.”
“Tell him if she has a cowboy hat, he has my blessing.”
You grabbed your jacket, pausing at the door. “If I get shot, tell the team I died being hotter than all of them.”
Spencer looked up with a totally deadpan expression and whistled. “That goes without saying.”
You blew him a kiss and shut the door behind you, already drafting what you’d say to Morgan when you saw him.
Eventually , you’d caught the guy.
The suspect sat cuffed to the table, arms crossed, expression somewhere between cocky and confused. He’d asked for a lawyer three times. The team knew it. So did you. But now he was suddenly cooperative—and you had a feeling that had less to do with his conscience and more to do with the fact that Morgan had promised he’d be “dealing with Dr. Reid next.”
What he didn’t know?
He was getting both of you.
You stepped into the interrogation room, Spencer behind you, both of you in sync like you were about to perform a synchronized FBI ballet—but with more psychological warfare.
Outside the one-way glass, Morgan muttered, “This’ll be interesting.”
Inside the room, you dropped into the chair across from the suspect and offered a sugary smile.
“Hi, Marcus. Love the scowl. Very tough guy who definitely has never cried in a 90s Honda civic. Or was it a Toyota?”
Spencer sat beside you, calm and collected, opening the file in front of him like he was about to politely destroy a man’s entire worldview.
Marcus raised an eyebrow. “So they sent the nerd and the girlfriend?”
You smiled wider. “Aw. You think I’m just the girlfriend. That’s cute.”
Spencer didn’t look up. “Statistically, assuming a woman is less competent in a professional setting increases the likelihood of public humiliation by seventy-three percent. But don’t worry, we’ll keep it between us.”
“For real? You just know that?” The suspect hissed.
“No asshole, I made it up…” Spencer mumbled, still looking at the file and reading it closely.
You slid the photo across the table—victim number two. “Let’s talk about this guy. You were seen outside his apartment the night he was killed. Coincidence, or did ya get the first time murder jitters?”
“I didn’t kill anyone.”
Spencer’s voice was deceptively light. “We didn’t say you did. You said that. Interesting.”
You leaned in, resting your chin on your hand. “Also interesting? That your fingerprints were on the door handle, and the doormat has your boot tread on it. You’re either involved or you’re just deeply nosy.”
Marcus shrugged. “Maybe I was there. Doesn’t mean anything.”
“Oh, honey,” you said, voice syrupy-sweet. “People like you never do things for no reason. You can’t even microwave instant soup without making it about your masculinity.”
Spencer coughed like he was covering a laugh.
“Also if you’re microwaving soup shame on you. Put it in a damn pot on the stove like the rest of us.” You groaned, knowing damn well you did it yesterday.
“Look,” Marcus said, sitting up straighter. “I don’t have to say anything to you.”
You looked around the room , faux confusion on your face. He literally asked for you?
Spencer tapped the table twice. “Totally fair. You’re exercising your rights. But just to clarify, you’re not denying you were there. So if we subpoena your phone, we’re not going to be shocked by GPS data, right?”
You leaned toward Spencer and whispered loudly, “Is this the part where we pretend we don’t already have that?”
He nodded seriously. “Yes, for dramatic effect.”
Marcus shifted. “You’re bluffing.”
“Buddy,” you said, leaning back. “The FBI does two things really well: crush dreams and ruin lives. And my boyfriend here’s got a PhD in both.”
Spencer added, “Technically only one, but I did minor in destroying egos.”
“Oh for real? That’s fine I have a masters in being better than most people and humbling men. I think that’ll suffice.” You replied.
Outside the glass, JJ blinked. “Are they… flirting? In the middle of an interrogation?”
Hotch muttered, “I think it’s working?”
Back inside, the suspect was starting to sweat, his earlier confidence deflating like a balloon at a sad birthday party.
You pulled out another photo—this time of Marcus’s ex, who had filed a restraining order last year. You dropped it gently on the table.
Spencer’s voice was quiet. “She’s scared of you.”
“And she was like 16.”
Marcus looked like he wanted to disappear into the floor as Spencer flipped to the next page in the file.
“Her name was Emily,” he said calmly, tapping the paper. “She filed for a restraining order at sixteen. Updated it again when she turned seventeen.”
Marcus scoffed. “She was—she acted older than she was.”
You blinked. Spencer’s jaw twitched.
“Oh wow,” you said, leaning forward. “Do you have an I feel statement about that?”
Spencer didn’t miss a beat. “Yeah, like—‘I feel like I want to date children’?”
You nodded thoughtfully. “That’s the vibe I’m getting too. Really leaning into the predator energy.”
“I’m not a predator,” Marcus snapped, defensive now, angry. “You don’t know anything about me.”
Spencer arched a brow. “We literally read your search history.”
You added, “And the restraining order. And the texts. And your very creative Reddit username.”
“Subtle wasn’t your strong suit,” Spencer muttered.
You leaned back in your chair, folding your arms. “So here’s what we do know about you, Marcus: you’re insecure, violent when women say no, and very interested in people who are still in Algebra II. That about cover it?”
He opened his mouth—then shut it again.
“That’s what I thought,” you said sweetly, before glancing over at Spencer with a grin. “See? We’re so good at this.”
He smiled back. “Terrifyingly good.”
“You think this is funny?” Marcus snapped, finally rattled. “This little good cop, bad cop thing?”
You raised an eyebrow. “Good cop? You sweet summer child.”
“We’re not good cop, bad cop,” Spencer added helpfully. “We’re bad cop, worse cop.”
“I’m worse,” you chimed in. “Obviously.”
Spencer nodded. “That tracks.”
Marcus was silent, jaw tense.
You leaned in again, tone shifting. “Look. You talk to us, you get some control back. You don’t, and we throw this entire file at the prosecutor and let them tear you apart. Your call.”
Spencer added, “Statistically, cooperating suspects receive lighter sentences. Not that you seem like a man who cares about consequences, given your stunning history of rage texting and unpaid parking tickets… and dating children.”
You smiled. “Seriously, ten tickets? What are you, allergic to parallel parking?”
Marcus stared at the table, finally cracking.
“I didn’t mean to hurt him,” he muttered.
You and Spencer exchanged a glance.
“Okay,” you said, sitting back. “Now we’re getting somewhere.”

Shimmer thoughts - Analysis on Shimmer Purpose > Creation > Variants
Tumblr media
♡˚ crediting people from twitter who helped me so much with this : @omniscient_she @ethnicallymoral @hartbrekprince @Darkroastdreams
Tumblr media
Purpose
Initial goals of Shimmer ⤷create a substance that could provide strength and power ⤷Become a superior medicinal-healing drug
Later goals of Shimmer as the story progress: ⤷permanently enhance the human body and mind
Creation:
Shimmer was created by Singed using glowing purple flowers and biological experiments, including a rare regenerative creature named Rio. ● Flower ⤷Observed to grow in a cave and seen to be growing in Silco/Singed’s hideout in the canary as per S1E1 (could be the cold, dark, damp nature of the location) ⤷combustive when it comes to contact with fire
● Rio ⤷a unique, rare creature that possesses remarkable regenerative abilities (ArcaneWiki) Singed stated the following about Rio: S1E6 mark: 39:28 - “she’s a rare mutation I cultivated” S1E6 mark 31:52 - “The mutation must survive”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s no concrete evidence if Shimmer is made solely from either Rio or the flower, only that they are alluded to as the base foundations of the drug. Singed, with the help of young Viktor, was initially feeding Rio the flowers which may be the cause of mutation, therefore Rio is technically “man made” and not an organically occurring mutation.
Still with the tubes tied to Rio glowing with the same purple essence of the flowers on the later part of the show, we can infer that Shimmer may be made by glowing flowers passing through Rio’s DNA system.
“Shimmer could have been made by passing nectar (or a form of transformed sap) from the flowers through Rio's organs. Through the organ's natural processing (stomachs digest, kidneys remove waste and extra liquid, livers produce bile and pancreas store insulin...) the sap turns into shimmer. Or at least a proto-shimmer that is then refined by Singed  Perhaps also the Waverider microbiome within their body contains specific bacteria that break down the proteins and such contained within the flower in a different way. So it's not only the mechanical function of the organs but also the chemical function of the microbiome”
Naïa, First Chancellor's Archivist @omniscient_she
Variants:
As revealed by Singed he developed Shimmer variants, some of which are more advanced than others.v. ArcaneWiki
The existence of different variants and purity levels (even expiration) as per @Darkroastdreams thread could mean Shimmer divided as:
Variant A - For productions and distribution
Street Shimmer • Who uses it: Silco’s foot soldiers, goons, thug enforcers. • Effects: Enhances strength, pain tolerance, durability, tissue regeneration, possibly nervous system repair, resuscitation from near-death cases (makes you a walking tank) • Side effects: . Short-term: Mutations, temporary growth in size, cognitive degeneration, and aggression. Long-term: Highly addictive; physical deformities such as large tumors protruding from the skin; progressive degeneration of skin and muscle tissue. • Distribution: Mass-produced. Cheap. Dangerous. This is the version running Zaun’s black market economy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chembaron-grade • Who uses it: Sevika, Silco, Silco’s inner circle, possibly Singed’s own test subjects. • Effects: Similar to street shimmer, but targeted—such as enhancing strength, regeneration, durability—without major side effects (e.g., physical mutation). • Upgrades: Combined with technology (e.g., Sevika’s arm) or delivered via implants to ensure the user receives the proper dosage. • Side effects: Still risky, but shows longer-term integration.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Quoting from thread : “There are likely different purities of shimmer available for purchase on the streets of Zaun, with the highest purity coming directly from Singed (such as the type used by Silco and to revive Jinx as well as what Viktor was most likely given) and lower purities sold on the street as an illegal drug.”
DarkroastDepresso @Darkroastdreams
Note : The testing phase from S1A1 looks more like Street Shimmer as it caused Dekard to physically change, if a several drops caused physical and increased aggression to a rat then application must be equal to body weight of the user? several drop: rat/1 bottle: teenage human. We can then reason that when Caitlyn used Street Shimmer on Vi, the single drop administered was a low enough dose to mitigate the usual side effects.
Tumblr media
Variant B - Singed’s personal research, produced personally on his lab
Prototype • Who uses it: Jinx, speculated: Singed and Warwick during his hibernation phase. • Effects: altered physiology, strength, longevity, total body mutation, heightened senses. • Thoughts : we can speculate that Jinx is the first successful human test when Singed was trying to resuscitate her.
“This appears to be a mix of variants that made Jinx the most successful experiment, preserving her through near-death resuscitation while incorporating a controlled combat strain. It aligns with Singed’s goal of reviving his daughter in a stable, powerful form. The idea that she “became Shimmer” suggests a perfected biological mutation: a proof of concept for a sentient, controllable Shimmer being without the side effects seen in Warwick.”
@ethnicallymoral
Tumblr media
Beta (used to combine with Hextech) • Who uses it: Viktor and speculated: Warwick during his hibernation phase. • Effects: Catalyst, longevity, pain suppression, durability, tissue regeneration, possibly nervous system repair • Goal: sustain Viktor's life to continue his research, by accelerating assisting a fusion of Shimmer and Hextech
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apex shimmer • most advanced and potent form of Shimmer—refined beyond the unstable • Who uses it: Singed and Warwick • Effects: Physical enhancement (boosts strength, speed, and resilience), life preservation (slows or halts degeneration), biological evolution. • Used for: stabilizing Warwick enough to be able to awaken him, slows degeneration by using it on Oriana and Singed • Risk: Unknown however it seems to only be suitable for individuals with strong willpower, intellect, or specific biological conditions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Variants structure provided and assisted by @ethnicallymoral // els
< END PERSONAL THINK THOUGHT AFTER THIS >
Tumblr media
Is a drop enough to mutate only Silco’s eye?
Unsure, we can speculate that he must have had other side effects aside from his eye. I’m inclined to believe that Silco must have had other changes in his body, which could be his lungs being able to withstand a greenhouse filled with a leaking tank of the Grey. Not only is Silco a heavy smoker but he also worked in the mines infested with the Grey, which could have caused long term lung damage, but we never see Silco cough nor does he exhibit any lung issues.
Also, we first have to know what variant he had been dozing on and if he switched to the purified healing variant once Singed is able to concoct other variations of Shimmer.
Have we ever thought of the possibility that silco is the first human test of Singed due to the nature of his injuries? I have.
Does it affect Silco’s cum quality? I.e. taste, potency, color A: Because Silco seems to have been using the Variant A - street shimmer from s1A1 and could have been using it since the prototype version we can guess that there maybe changes to his body, if not externally like his eye then internally. We can also see Silco's tear as violet in here.
Tumblr media
2. Does it help with his bedroom performance (Physical endurance during sex AND Shorter refractory period) Again Again there maybe changes to his body if not externally like his eye then internally. Despite his age, injuries and past history (starvation, exposure to the Gray) we can see Silco crashout as him having exhibiting strength, this could point out that : Yes, Silco does have stamina No proof in regards to refractory period
3. Does Shimmer give him erectile dysfunction? Given that one of shimmer's main goal and coveted effects are tissue regeneration, possibly nervous system repair, AKA HEALING AND SLOWING/HALTING DEGENERATION and Silco's long term use, then we can reason that he has no erectile dysfunction

Every Rose Has Its Thorns (Ambessa X Black Rose Spy! Reader C1)
Trying a new thing where I cross post on Tumblr and Ao3. (Ao3 link at end)
C1:
Everyone is sleeping with someone and beds can bury many secrets under the covers. Secrets like the Demacian lover of a famed Noxian assassin. Secrets like the Trifarix takeover of Grand General Darkwill. Secrets like the Crimson Circle’s leader planning another coup. These secrets stick to the thorns of those special redolent rose colored lovers tangled up in the sheets with generals, captains, and house heads. Those lovers whose special magics put the guile in beguiling.
Your job is a florist -- a host handing out roses and collecting the pricked off secrets those roses gathered. A job you do well. Not every flower at your shop is a rose. No. There are delusional daisies and desperate daffodils. There are illusions of irises and professional pansies. But those are all a cover for the sweet pollen of your roses. Rose roots, as most know, are everywhere once they're planted. They sap the nutrients from every other flower nearby -- they have the power to consume. To consume secrets of the rest of the garden.
One day about a month ago a daisy had earned the affections of a general so much so that she had begun buzzing about her life like a little pollinator. The rumors stuck to the rose roots within your brothel and thus came to you. You saw to it that the general’s lover was upgraded to a rose still suiting of her tastes. The daisy, you had said, was bought by someone looking for a bouquet in their home. The general had not minded in the slightest which was no surprise. If she'd have genuinely cared about losing the flower, you would have simply spliced the daisy in with a rose, given it thorns, and kept it pricking. Instead, your mother has taken it and all of its intel too.
So now, for a month, a rose has been sticking into those secret filled covers. A rose who is very good at his job. A rose who is…marching towards you with a bruise beneath his gold-lidded eye and a fuming gaze?
“What's happened?” You ask, quirking a brow.
“I'm done,” he snaps, his voice as pretty as his feminine face.
“No you're not. Where's the client?”
“In my room. Wants someone else.” He looks down the hall of doors and rooms before leaning in to you. “I pressed about the son, like you said. She wants nothing to do with me now. I'm burned.”
“And bruised. Go get some ice.”
He storms off to nurse his wound and you bite your lip, scanning through your mental inventory. All of your research says he's her perfect type. Skinny. Benign. Docile. Pretty. Your other effeminate male rose is currently assigned elsewhere. Though if she comes another day, he may do. You know she likes women as well. Ones with strength. No. Power. Weapons of women and flowers of men. But muscles alone won't do. You have many talented mages, sure. Perhaps one of them could peak her interest. But none of them have what she truly craves in a female lover -- someone with superiority -- someone chosen -- someone capable, with control and, well, power. Someone like…
You glance back at her room. It's an idea, but is it one you're willing to dedicate to? You grin, imagining how your mother will react to the news. She'll be amused more than anything. Impressed, you think. Proud. Guile means more to her than pride so to sell yourself as a flower, as a rose, someone so unobtainable that the general will feel oh so special to have you. Yes. You'll earn your mother's pride for this clever little play.
You switch the sign on the front door to closed and head back to the retired rose’s room. With a breath of confidence, you knock, a smile glazing over your lips already.
“Enter,” a voice like broken glass on a gravel path orders from the other side.
You open the door, heading inside but paying her no mind. Not yet. Something small first, a show of your magical power to aid your social power. You twist your hand absentmindedly around a healthy pothos hanging from a ceiling hook. A shadow creeps down its long vines, blazing a trail of withered brown and fallen crinkled leaves behind it until it slithers all the way to the new growth at the tip.
“You've given one of my top earners a black eye,” you say, still not facing her.
“Your whore ,” she growls the word, “was testing my patience and good nature. I pay for pleasure, not for interrogation.”
“He's chatty.”
“I don't care for chatty.”
“Your last lover was chatty.” You toss her a look over your shoulder. Then sigh and go back to the pothos, killing another vine with darkness so deep it drains all the stored sunlight away with ease. “You liked him. I assumed this would be a good match for you.”
“I have been employing your brothel’s services for near a decade now. Yet, I don't believe we've ever spoken.”
You turn to her now. Your eyes trace the hem of red cotton that drapes over her muscled thighs. They slip up to her red painted lips on her glass of posca. They twist through curls of grey hair leaning against a headboard, twirling a strand by her scarred umber face. She really is attractive, now isn't she?
You glide up to the bed, taking your time. “We may have never spoken, but that doesn't mean I haven't kept tabs on you.”
As you reach her, you sit on the mattress, just out of reach, teasing the edges of her aura with your own. You bring shadows from the corners of the room closer. Snakes of black curtain around the bedframe and lurk on the floorboards. One tickles across her leg and she shudders, though she hides it. Her gaze falls on you, curious, interest piqued, but wary and ready for battle.
“You are strong,” you say. “Stronger than most. In will. In might. Ah, but you already know this. It makes you difficult to please. You've been unhappy with my business twice now. I do not wish to leave you dissatisfied a third time.” You lean just a bit closer, fingers tracing lightly around a scar by her knee. “So perhaps something off menu would better suit your unique tastes?”
Her gold flecked eyes darken a shade and she smirks. Humming amusedly, she asks,”Mm and what may you be offering, off menu, exactly?
A shadow follows your hand, reaching forward with you to brush hair from her face and tuck it behind her ear. “I've always preferred female lovers, and I've heard rumors that you enjoy both sexes.”
“The rumors are true”
“Please then, allow me to apologize for the chatty whore. Have a night on the house. With me.” You lean closer still, your lips ghosting her own. You think for a moment to leave the choice to her, to allow her to seize you, claim you. But then you think about how attracted she is to women in control so you seize her instead -- kissing her before she kisses you.
And boy does she kiss you.
A calloused hand finds its way to the back of your head, fingers knotting in your hair. She chuckles, hungry mouth against your own, her tongue rolling along your bottom lip. It's not a fight for dominance. No. It's a test to see if you will yield it. You don't. Which spurs her to smile more. She pulls away from you, eyes finding yours with a bit of a glimmer.
“You are curious, little flower,” she says.
“As are you, general. Tell me, how does a wolf stalk its prey?”
She chuckles again, a low rumbling noise. “Deliberately.”
“And how does it attack?”
“Without mercy.”
Her claims prove valid when she attacks, mercilessly, your lips again. Your neck. Your shoulder. You allow her to guide you to your back, pulling the darkness around you entirely so that the only light in the room is the halos you allow around her and around you. You keep the spell the entire night you spend together. With every talented curl of your finger or quivering shake of your orgasm she grows more and more intrigued by you. By your focus and your abilities. Good. Your roots are being planted. In time, your thorns will prick those secrets from her.
In time, turns out to be a patient six months. You've uncovered much of her story but only the outer shell. Her loyalty to family. Her desire for legacy. And just now, a few days after the six month mark, she finally gifts you the information your mother has so wanted.
“Daughter,” the voice greets you in the pale red darkness of her illusion. How can it be pale and dark? Well, how can anything be mutually exclusive when it comes to her? A woman with a million faces yet not known for a single one. The Faceless.
You take a knee before her, her silhouette shifting between heavy and light, brawny and slender, masculine and feminine. “Mother,” you greet, “I come with the information you sought from Ambessa Medarda.”
“The one whose love child is of our own kind? Now that is interesting.”
You stand. “The son, Kino, he is in Nava on a diplomatic mission for their house.”
“Are you certain?”
“Would I lie?” You smirk.
She steps forth from her illusion, a pale face with a bob of blue hair and dark purple lips that smirk right back at you.
“You've done well, daughter,” she says, thin white fingers tilting up your chin. “I knew there was a reason I took you in that century ago. Just a bawling little infant then. Look at you now. All grown up and covered in thorns. Our agents in Nava will capture the wolf pup. He will be tested and, if potent, used. The Black Rose will bloom again.”
“What about the alpha wolf? Have we any further use for her?”
“Perhaps. The future is all smoke and mirrors. So play your part. Keep her leashed. Remember that there is still a second child we may require if this one proves to be the wrong one.”
“Understood.”
She sighs, releasing you and turning to the warping edges of the nothingness around you. Turning to some door in some far off room. With a wave of her hand a magician’s staff appears between jeweled rings on her thumb and index finger. Without looking back at you she says, “I’ve got to go. The assassin’s are due at Swain’s doorstep any minute now.” She glances over her shoulder, a purr and a grin, “it's how he knows I care.”
With that, the void disappears and so does she. You're left alone in your bedroom with its stone walls and silk sheets.
You gaze out over the city through your window. Noxus Prime. All these years and it hasn't changed much at all. Then again, neither have you. Your looks are still that of your youth. Easier, then, with bright eyes and a light face, to manipulate the shadows behind Noxus’s big red curtains. All these banners and blood and war. How trivial. Those two men your mother works alongside on the Trifarix are nothing more than puppets in a big show. One day, they'll be gone -- bone and ashes -- just like the man before them and there will be another puppet and another. All marionettes, dancing by the pull of their strings. Dancing, by your mother's hand. Dancing, for the Black Rose.

12 Days of Steddie-Mas
Day 3:
I’ll be home on the 23rd
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
Waiting by the phone, Steve watched the TV broadcast of the show. Corroded Coffin had completely blown up in the last year. They managed to get one song on the radio and it seems like the stations just can't turn them off. Their small venue tour had to quickly be upgraded to arenas and more dates added. They've sold out every show. Steve couldn’t be more proud of Eddie, this is everything he’s ever dreamed of. He does miss him, of course he does. Steve had prepared for three months apart, so when it turned into six months and then nine, he was just a bit shocked. Eddie had promised to call every night and he has yet to break this promise. Sometimes they are short and sweet, usually when STeve has to be at the school early the next morning. Other times they last for hours, Eddie so full of adrenaline that he just spews out anything he thinks about, and Steve is just happy to listen.
About a month ago Eddie called to strike a deal.
“Stevie baby,” He drawled into the phone hesitantly.
Steve sighed into his end, “Eds, don’t start like that.”
“I just want to get the bad stuff out of the way!”
“What happened?”
“They want us to do a live show on Thanksgiving”
“And?” Steve presses, knowing there’s always more.
“And— a live show right before Christmas.”
“Ed—”
“But I have a deal for you!” Eddie interrupts, trying to smooth the situation.
“What is it?”
“We do the shows, but I'm home by the 24th and stay through New Years. The last show is in February, so after that we are doing nothing, for a whole year Stevie.”
This piqued Steve’s interest, “A whole year? You sure you wouldn’t get bored?”
“Jeff and Gareth both agreed, we all need a fucking break. We want a year just to be normal again,” Eddie sighs, “It’s not like we won't write music or hang out or have small jam sessions together, there’s just no pressure to do it. I want to be with you sweetheart, I hate waking up and not seeing you there next to me.”
Steve smiles into the phone, “Well I’ll never complain about seeing you, but I don’t want you to give this up.”
”We’re not stopping, it's just— a pause, a moment to fucking breathe.”
“So the 24th?” Steve checks.
“The 24th.” Eddie confirms.
“See then, Eds.”
“See you soon, baby.”
So here’s he was, December 22nd, watching his rockstar boyfriend shread on stage. He smiles as Eddie jumps aroun the stage, messing with Gareth and Jeff, showmanship on full blast.
The rockstar leans into the mic, “For our last song, as always, I’m going to dedicate this to the love of my life,” he says looking directly into the camera, “Be home soon baby.”
The crowd erupts.
Gareth leans into his own mic, “Awe, Eddie you sap.”
Jeff joins in on the teasing, “Eddie, stop over compensating, everyone knows they love me more than you.”
Eddie laughs and shakes his head, “You two are impossible to work with.” He starts playing the opening notes as the crowd roars.
He wrote the song years ago for Steve. When they finally got a record deal, it was the only song Eddie really cared about making it on the record.
“I want the whole world to know how much I love you.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re mine for life sweetheart.”
Everytime he hears the crowd singing along it brings tears to his eyes. He’s seen couples dance to it at weddings, getting proposed to it during concerts, making cute videos to it. Love speaks to all. He loves how their love is so fully on display. Even though Steve has asked Eddie to keep his name and identity a secret to the public, that doesn’t stop him from constantly talking about how much he loves Steve at every chance he gets.
Eddipe wraps the concert up waving goodbye to the crowd, “Happy Holidays everyone! See you in January!”
Not more than an hour later Steve’s phone starts to ring.
“Hey there Rockstar,” Steve says into the receiver.
“Hey there lover,” Eddie yells through the line.
Steve yanks the phone away from his ear at the volume, “Jesus, Eddie, no need to scream,” he scolds half heartedly.
“I’m just happy to talk to you,” Eddie says now in a normal volume.
“I’m happy to talk to you too.”
“Excited to see you in two days.”
“Well I’m excited to see Gareth more,” Steve teases.
Eddie huffs, “Yeah right, I know I’m your favorite, even if you won’t admit it.”
They talk for a bit. Steve goes on about how crazy all the kids were on the last day of school. How his usual go to was a Christmas movie day, but he wanted to be different this year. So he set up games and crafts and music. And now he has a headache. Note to self, stick with the movies next year. Eddie talks about how Steve works too hard, which Steve shoots right back at him. They both work themselves to the bone, but there is nothing in the world either of them would rather do. It just feels harder when they are apart. Steve asks what Eddie wants as his welcome home dinner and of course it was something dirty that cannot be repeated.
Steve yawns into the phone sometime around one in the morning.
“I’ll let you get to bed baby, see you in a few days,” Eddie says softly.
“Love you, Eds.”
“Love you more, Stevie.”
———————————
The next day Steve cleaned the whole house top to bottom, every corner and nook and cranny. He scrubbed and whipped and washed until there was nothing left to polish in the house. His excitement kept him running and he needed an outlet. After the house was sparkling he wrapped the last of the presents. Steve wanted Eddie to come home to a perfect house. Even though he would go through it like a tornado, Steve didn’t care that it would get ruined immediately. He needed to keep his mind busy. Otherwise he would pace around the house just counting the seconds till Eddie came home.
Eddie.
Eddie.
Eddie.
His brain repeats on a loop. There was no way he could actually be productive outside of the house, so he stayed inside and perfected their home.
The doorbell rings and Steve thinks it's probably just a package with one of the last few gifts he ordered. He doesn’t get up to check, he’ll just get it later.
There’s a knock on the door a moment later. Once again he ignores it, thinking the delivery man is just double checking before leaving it on the porch.
The knocking gets louder and more aggressive. Not stopping. Just continuous knocks right after another. This gets Steve to finally get up and walk to the front door. Normally he would check the peep hole to check who it is first, but the knocking distracted him.
Steve threw open the door, “Who—” he cuts himself off.
There in front of him was Eddie, bags in hand, snow sticking to his messy hair, and a coy smirk on his face.
“Sorry, Stevie, I left my keys last time I was here and it's freezing,” Eddie says standing there.
Steve looks to the front entrance table. There in the bowl sits Eddie’s set of keys on a cheesy keychain they got in Chicago when they visited a few years ago. He looks back to his boyfriend in disbelief.
Eddie adjusts the bags on his shoulders, “Can I come in, or are we just going to stand here till I get frostbite?” he jokes.
Everything clicks for Steve at that moment. Eddie was here. In the flesh. For the first time in months.
Steve grabbed Eddie by his coat and pulled him in the house. He connects their mouths as he pins Eddie to the door. His boyfriend comes willingly and drops all his bags to wrap his arms around Steve’s waist, pulling them closer together. Steve’s fingers wrap themselves in Eddie’s curls desperately trying to deepen their kiss. Their hot breath fogs around them in the lingering cold air.
“You’re early,” Steve says, breaking for a breath.
Eddie moves to Steve’s neck, coating the skin in hot touches, “Surprise,” he whispers into Steve’s ear. He wraps his hands under Steve’s thighs and lifts him up.
Steve wraps his legs around Eddie and plants kisses across his boyfriends whole face. Cheek to cheek, the bridge of his nose, his chin and forehead, and especially his mouth that tasted like the usual cigarettes and coffee.
Eddie carries them the stairs towards their room.
“WAIT!” Steve gasps as he remembers all the gifts he left all over the place in there, ones that Eddie cannot see before Christmas.
He scrambles out of Eddie’s arms and runs to the room, “Give me a second to hide everything!”
Eddie knows not to argue, and not to snoop. Steve takes Christmas very seriously and will not stand for gifts to be spoiled.
Steve runs around the room, shoving things in drawers and under the bed and in the closet. Once he is satisfied with everything being out of sight he opens the bedroom door, “Welcome home, baby,” he says waving his hand towards their bed.
Eddie is on him again in a second, closing the door once again behind them. Although that did little to muffle their sounds. Not that there was anyone else in the house to hear them anyway.
