They are both breathing hard when they finally get back to the Senate.

Fox leads her through a smaller door, one that Leia, even with all her time spent in the Senate Dome has never even seen before, and pushes her into an elevator that currently has only three maintenance droids in it. They all beep at them, but quiet down when Fox shushes them. He takes the coat from Leia, while Leia starts to comb her hair open. They need to work fast, so Leia unceremoniously puts a part of her hair in her mouth, while she starts braiding another part of it.

Fox watches for a moment, before he reaches for her head.

"Same part from this side too?" He asks. Leia raises her brows at him through their reflections on the elevator's shining wall, but nods. Fox pulls his gloves off, and takes a part of her hair into his fingers, and starts to braid with surprising speed and skill, managing to match the tightness of the braid to hers closely enough when in the moving elevator. He holds the braid in place until Leia gets to tie it up, and pulls both the braids behind her head as she starts to braid the last braid on the front.

"You seem to know what you're doing", she comments, as her mouth is now free from hair.

"I braid Thorn's hair a lot", Fox answers. "And I've seen this same hairdo on your mother. The last one goes through the middle, right?"

Leia swallows, but gathers herself quickly.

"Yes", she answers, and throws the last braid over her head as well. He pulls it through and tightens it up. He's much gentler than Leia's or Mama's ladies-in-waiting, who would pull the braid so tight that Leia could feel the pull in her teeth. "Mother used to wear this when she was younger."

It was one of the braids that were easy to do, even for someone who wasn't too experienced in tying up the Royal ladie's hair, so it was many times chosen when there was, for some reason, not too much time for doing the hair to any of the more complicated upstyles. Mother had liked it when Leia had been small, especially on the days she had had more time to spend time with just Leia and father. Leia had learned to do it pretty young as well, so she could match up with mother on their days out.

Something turns and tightens inside her chest for the thought that Fox had spent enough time just looking at her mother, and paying attention to every little detail, that he knows how to do the braid without instructions. It's bittersweet, because it also makes her feel warm amidst all the turmoil. He has paid enough attention to her mother to know how to braid hair.

Fox backs away a bit, and hums.

"Looks neat enough", he says, and starts to pull his gloves back on. "Deep breaths. We're there in just a moment."

Leia has just enough time to touch her hair and turn around, when the elevator stops and beeps, and the doors open. Fox holds the coat for one of the droids.

"Put this into trash", he tells it. The droid beeps, opens its compartment and stuffs the coat in, and then wheels out after the two other droids. Fox steps out first and glances around, and then waves for Leia to follow.

"I'm going to take the maintenance door, and go up to the next floor", he tells her as they walk down the corridor. "Go straight from here, and take the elevator on the right side of the hall. I'll be there."

Leia nods. She brushes her fingers against his, and he curls his fingers around them briefly before they part ways.

Leia holds her head high and walks without looking around, to the end of the corridor and through the next door, and she crosses the hall on the other side without anyone stopping to even look at her. She steps into the elevator, and puts herself into the corner in the back, behind a few other Senators and aides. She recognises a couple of them. It's strange, every time, to see people she has known all her life, but who now have no idea who she is.

The doors start to beep, but before they can close, Padmé Amidala steps in, and behind her is Anakin Skywalker.

Leia's heart slams to a stop, before she can control herself.

Deep breaths, Fox had just said to her. Deep breaths.

She breathes, and stares at the spot on the wall, trying to keep any unsavory thoughts out of her head. She had done it before, while being in the same room with him, while he was watching her cry in pain he was inflicting upon her.

He is just standing there now, not looking at her. She is safe. She is safe.

The elevator starts to move. Leia breathes in, and thinks about anything else than her birth parents standing right there in front of her.

If there was ever a time Sanemi would not be getting sleep, it’d be whenever Mitsuri keeps reacting to anything even remotely associated with Just Dance

Just think: Mitsuri would be into pop music, and from what I learned growing up, Just Dance is literally the gateway to learning all the popular music and some underground gems. Example: I recall Satellite by Lena Meyer-Landrut to be from Eurovision because I vaguely remember Just Dance 3 (I didn’t have it growing up, I skipped to 4) having it, and that was before I even knew what Eurovision was!

Bonus, Toy by Netta is also a Eurovision song, and was, in fact, the 2018 Eurovision winner.

Bonus 2: Oops (Hit ‘Em Upstyle) by Blu Cantrell, an early 2000s song that ended up trending some time ago, is a huge favorite of mine. I got in on the audio trend at one point and I got asked what the name of the song was by a commenter, so I immediately gave them the name of the song without looking it up (that’s how well I know the song)

(Okay, enough about me rambling, I’m getting back on track)

No matter what game in the series, there’s always a good amount of well known songs (for better or worse) that get thrown into the mix, so there will be some rock dwellers out there that know of this franchise. It’s been going on for 15 years now, and so much has changed since 2009. There’s so many songs that got put into the series at this point (and some cut, RIP Mamaoo’s HIP and Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This), SCREW YOU, SELFISH LEAKER THAT CAUSED IT! (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ꠥ⁾⁾), so there’s gotta be at least one that will catch someone’s eye. It’s only a little less than a year older than My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which debuted in October 10th, 2010, and we know damn well how much of a culture shock that was!

Even I’m not immune to it, I straight up made about 50 of the Demon Slayer characters into MLP ones (yes, 50, I’m not even joking), and I put down about 200 of them to be done like that. It was my chokehold before Demon Slayer attached itself to me! Hell, my OC is based on MLP G4!

If there’s ever a contest on what franchise got me stuck in it, Just Dance would take the bronze (and silver if KNY and MLP are tying) simply for sticking around and managing to be present in my life since 2009. Even if I don’t have the game, I still look up songs in any installment of the franchise just to listen to it for the heck of it. Hot ‘N Cold, Maps, Mi Gente, Soy Yo, you name it!

(This literally went from talking about how Sanemi is not gonna sleep once Mitsuri gets into Just Dance to me rambling about the impact it had on my life XD)

Mitsuri would, of course, be into the dancing because what else is this woman gonna do, watch the pretty colors? Hell no, her ass is gonna obliterate anyone who challenges her to a game of Just Dance (unless you’re Tengen or Kyojuro because both have enough energy to compete with her for longer than what’s considered normal exhaustion) and will memorize the routines up the wazoo.

“Hey, does anyone wanna play Just Dance-”

“GIMME THE FRICKING CONTROLLER!”

And it’s not just gonna be her dancing to the songs in the game, she’s gonna be belting her heart out too at all hours whenever she’s playing. Tribal Dance? Easy. Love You Like A Love Song? Top 20 on her playlist. Dancing Queen, Waterloo, The Winner Takes It All? ABBA will be a cinch in a Peloponnesian Super Speedy Cider Squeezy Sundae second (do not ask how I came up with that) within an hour!

And don’t even get me started on how she’ll go the whole ‘round of the world on the cosplays of the coaches! Don’t ask her to not get so much up-cycling material because she’ll insist that it won’t be as fun if she doesn’t get into character and wants to be as accurate as possible to them. This will include roping the other Hashira into doing the routines if more than one coach is in it and involves lifting the other person up (like the OG I’ve Had The Time Of My Life, not the Dirty Bit version), and yes, Obanai will comply. It ends up with him getting into the video game series as well at some point because god forbid, Tengen mocks him for being a “buzzkill” and Obanai will want to humiliate the Sound Hashira at his own craft for that slander just because he wants to pop that ego for once. And he’ll proceed to risk breaking his ankles in the process because he only picked the extremes and the super hard routines that require some sort of willpower to not collapse and crash afterwards.

Sanemi will be at his limit with the shenanigans, but does not fancy having the Grim Reaper be 5’3 and have a danger noodle.

It's time already align already

So funny that I was right even though I never know for sure but I do because I'm awesome and a great guesser like always. Very intuitive.

So I was mostly correct not only did he go for an island beyonce baby boy type theme for adult swim he also used a girl that looks very similar to fkj twigs he still has her album on his shelf that's the only album in his entire house he keeps visible almost every single time he does a live in his office.

Like he never does that for anything else, except legos.

So yeah not surprised her mary magdelene album really affected him in a super deep way.

Now I remember when I ranted and said he needs to leave that lame music alone and just do afrobeats girl we got it

Like let's go finally.

It was making me so eep seeing the lame 2003 hip hop and off white pop songs like no, just no. Domino is a disgrace to music and I'll never support it. His goms are soo lame even the blk ones they have no taste they just accept whatever he does cause they are desperate and super duper thirsty. He gets ideas from movies and other people's music videos.

Like I been knew this would be afrobeats no 1 he was obsessed with black is king, 2 it's whats hot rn and sm approves of things that are already popular and 3 he's bla-jacent of course he'd go for what's easiest.

Anyway. So now before the album I want to list all that I think that should happen because I'm certain it's not done yet so things are still malleable

So firstly they should have a black cast in the music video and latino and southeast asian. Honestly it's time for him to have a diverse theme for once, like it just needs to happen like firstly he's doing afrobeats and any lack of authenticity will not be well received secondly the adult swim was great like it could be a whole drama

I love old film styles like this. I know it's to much to ask but imagine a lifetime esque movie from his childhood to adulthood to pair with this album like that would be perfect.

Okay they need to have a companion drama inside the music video

I'm thinking a one to 2 minute talking scene with whatever girl or guy or whatever he is talking to in the video, doesn't have to be female just we need a cast and something real. Almost like a skit so that we know the music video is about something more than just selling records it needs to tell a story.

Thriller was 10 minutes and it changed music videos and pop music. He needs to do something like that. Or even better like a mini web drama to pair with the album I'm hoping they do that or hey even a web comic. Like just something to continue the story so we can have some variety.

Like some behind the scenes for adult swim, maybe a few talking scenes and learning the situation and culture.

I also think he should pair this comeback with a movie or a drama.

So for the music video I'm hoping it's extremely diverse both in style dress, cast and theme. I think we can take everything a step farther he's obsessed with beyonce so clearly he's going for the alien superstar thing which is fine but I think he should branch out and go the extra mile. A real duet, or even like a interpretive dance something different.

Also they can have a unique or original setting like maybe an abandoned mall, or a dessert storm, or a mexican corner for a street dance scene. Just something new fresh and hot, no more cold dead boring techno oriental nonsense. It worked in 2020 when standards were deceased for art but now he needs light in his work real light not just green screens.

We need at least 4 to 5 afrobeats

the rest can be like journals type songs it doesn't have to be heavy it can be light rnb. But no more white boy pop he just can't carry that properly.

This is a bit wild but like........the previous albums I didn't put much out there but what I did put out happened so maybe just go insane and shoot for the stars and land on the moon. A feature would be nice to, like maybe someone like ama lou or another low key but respectable indie artist it would bring it up a notch and make it so different from what other artist in his field do, it's the type of thing that gets attention from outside traditional fandom circles.

Another Confession, Continuing Confusion

Nico entered the shop. The Gold Hatpin, woman owned, queer friendly, antique and vintage jewelry, a quaint little shop within a shop. Classy. Shiny and new and using resources best left to the land would not impress the woman currently only known as Diamond Princess, Nico knew that. But handpicked, vintage, estate jewelry might. There had been rings and bangles and bracelets on the hands, fingers, and forearms that had gripped the microphone and strummed so urgently. Rings and bangles and bracelets that had later caught in Nico's hair and scraped cold against Nico's skin, when the Diamond Princess had been so hot and fevered against her.

"Hi!" A welcoming smile from the woman behind the counter. "Good morning. Can I help you with something."

"Nico is doing Christmas shopping for a very pretty, very important person."

"Do you have a price range?"

"No. Nico wants something punk and pretty, diamonds would be a bonus." Nico giggled, "Picture a punk princess, but upstyled vintage fashion and royal jewels instead of torn jeans and safety pins."

"I see. We don't have any barbed wire and gemstone tiaras in the store right now but," her voice warm and friendly, the woman drew Nico's attention to a counter, where she pulled out a tray of rings, "we do have lots of very well cut art deco diamond rings. Some very good values."

Nico hissed, "Too early for a ring. Nico wants to start with a merry Christmas stocking stuffer and move up from there."

An understated, understanding nod.

"We have some lovely Victorian ​​Pietra Dura Brooches."

"Pietra Dura?"

The woman placed a tray of black mosaic brooches in front of Nico. "A Florentine mosaic technique. Silver and Gold frames and the flowers are inlaid with carved hard gemstones in Belgian marble."

A trio of delicate flowers floated in a line across a black background. Exquisite. Something Nico could see her mother wearing it on a winter coat, not Diamond Princess.

"Pretty. Not her style though. My mama would like it." Smiling, Nico waved an arm, "Something for the wrist, a bangle or bracelet. I've seen her wear those."

Oval linked bright green stones, set in gold were the next option. "This is a rare Victorian malachite bracelet.

"Not the right color. Maybe amethyst. Or something diamond."

"This is a 10 carat gold bangle with amethyst." A flower was carved into a large central amethyst, swirls of gold embracing it.

"Nico can afford more than 10 karats."

Next was a wide bangle with an open two toned heart design. "This is 20 carat. New in stock from an estate sale." The saleswoman handed it to Nico, "Has a very modern feel. And a romantic flair."

Nico nodded. A good option. She imagined herself sliding it onto Maki's wrist. But the open hearts were too uncommitted for Nico. Nico caught some sparkles in a band of black and crouched down, pointing.

"Show Nico that."

"Of course. Excellent choice."

Thin, edged gold rim surrounding black with multiple florets each with 6 diamonds set around a central diamond.

"Black enamel and diamond bangle. Antique. Holds its value well. It would look quite striking."

Nico could see it, sparkling under stage lights, a reminder of Nico, drawing attention to the artistry that Diamond Princess put into each chord, each musical moment. Or maybe Diamond Princess would wear it offstage, long fingers twisting it around her wrist, smiling at the memory of Nico. Smiling at in person Nico would be better, so much better. If the promise of a present could land Nico another in person meeting, that would be gift enough for Nico.

Maki slid the stool back from her drum kit, finally happy with the base rhythm she'd laid down. The song was nearly finished. She needed to shake her head clear and recharge her patience before she could sit down and smooth the tiny, jarring, cracks that prevented a perfect merger of tracks. Fortunately, later, she had plans, a distraction, tickets to Ruth Page's The Nutcracker at 5 p.m., meeting Eli for their annual tradition.

Speaking of Eli, she should confirm.

M: Still on for The Nutcracker?

A delay.

E: Is that today?

M: Yes.

E: I made dinner plans for later but yes, Nutcracker. Something to look forward to while I sit here waiting for a doctor.

M: Are you all right?

E: Just some testing. Nothing major. Don't worry. Let's meet for coffee before.

M: Okay. Going to take a quick nap and shower, then head to Chicago.

E: Drive carefully. I'll see you later. Java and Mug? 3:30ish?

M: d(-_^)

Now for some sleep. Yawn and stretch and maybe find a jazz lullaby.

Nz: So who did you meet at the Diamond Princess concert??

N: Revise your 5 year plan; Nico is finding a new manager.

Nozomi knew when she'd pushed Nico too far. She slid her phone into her coat pocket. Let Nico simmer. Although, maybe Nico had the right idea about one thing, some Santa come early surprises might be just the right touch for her date with Eli tonight.

Maki had that Christmas smile on her face, small, satisfied, sitting there with what Eli would bet was the Java Combo tomato panini and a tomato o' tomato smoothie.

Mug. Dark liquid. Eli had guessed wrong. Coffee.

"No tomato smoothie?"

Maki shook her head. "Coffee sounded better. I'm looking forward to the ballet, wanted to stay awake."

Eli smiled, "Yeah, one of my students from my internship three years ago is the Mouse King. I'm excited for her."

"I think Nishikino Industries is one of the sponsors this year. My parents seem to be going out of their way to…" Maki sighed, her eyelashes fluttering closed, "cheer me up by throwing money at causes they know I support."

"And singers?"

Maki fumbled her coffee, tensing, "What do you mean?"

"The Nico Ni concert. You've been a fan for years."

Maki nodded, "Right. Fan." She turned to look at the menu boards, "You should order something. And bring me back a macaron."

Maki's phone pinged. Rin.

R: Love the song. Did you send it to Nico?

M: Needs a little more tweaking.

R: Just show up and sing it to her, Maki. Like a movie. She (✿♥‿♥✿) you.

M: I don't know where she lives.

R: └(=^‥^=)┘ Ask her. Meet her. Send a cute selfie.

M: Eli says hi.

R: Oh, right, have fun. Hi ELIヾﾉ≧∀≦)o

Eli returned with a hot chocolate and a plate of macaroons.

"Rin says hi."

"Hello, Rin. What are she and Hanayo up to today?"

"Rin is nagging me."

"About?"

Maki's fingers curled around a macaron, but then she started rotating it on the plate, not moving it any closer to getting eaten.

"Maki?"

Eli was surprised by the fierceness in Maki's gaze when she raised it to meet Eli's. And the darkening blush on Maki's cheek.

"My last concert…"

"Halloween?"

Maki nodded, "Something happened."

"Something?"

Another nod, and crazy blushing, "With someone."

"Like dinner or karaoke or rescuing a stray kitten or…"

"Sex" Maki hissed so quickly Eli wasn't sure she'd heard anything.

"Sex? With a fan."

Maki glanced away.

"How could you? Did you get tested? Did you catch something? I just spent the morning at the clinic because…"

Maki's eyes went wide. "Are you all right? Did something happen to you. With Nico's manager?"

"Yes, something happened. But we had an adult conversation about sex and agreed to wait until I could get checked." Eli frowned. "We used our words, Maki. You can too."

"I can't; it's too…"

"Embarrassing? Your parents are doctors, for god's sake. Didn't they teach you anything?"

"THAT'S NOT THE PROBLEM!" Maki was on her feet, everyone in the cafe staring.

Eli pushed back from the table, her long legs stretched out, her arms crossed over her torso, her hot chocolate forgotten. "It is A problem."

Maki shook her head, refusing to engage on that particular topicand sunk back into her chair. "Then I ghosted…the person. For weeks."

Eli stared over Maki's head, considering, then leaned forward, rubbing her forehead, "So, let me get this straight…"

"It was a woman."

"It's a phrase, Maki." Eli clenched her jaw, "Just let me talk this out for myself, please."

Maki, one arm across her torso, started curling a twist of hair, not making eye contact with Eli.

Eli leaned forward, her voice a whisper, "So you, my probably demisexual friend with no previous dating experience beyond kissing a fellow premed during a "boring horror series binge-a-thon" last quarter had sex after a concert…" Eli watched Maki, "in a hotel?"

Maki shook her head.

"In your dressing room? Pizdets!" Eli slammed the table, "and then further proving your immaturity, you ghosted this poor fan."

"I'm not immature."

"Oh my god, Maki, listen to yourself."

"It wasn't like that Eli." Maki leaned forward, "She…well, there was kissing…and I, it..I never felt that before, so shaky, so…rocketing…and she kept…and I…I just…"

Before Eli could rewrite any more of her mental image of Maki, she held up a hand and moved on to the next topic. "This is why Rin is texting you?"

Maki nodded.

"You met her again."

Another whisper, "It's Nico."

Eli stared. Holy fuck. Maki had landed one of the hottest celebrities on the planet, then ghosted her, then had her parents hire her…Eli giggled, then guffawed, huge attention drawing roll on the floor laughter. "Your parents didn't know when they hired her."

"Of course not. Why would I … how could they…"

"Oh, Maki."

"Yeah." Maki's head dropped into her hands.

Eli's voice was calm. "If you can't tell her, text her."

"I want to see her." Maki muttered. "I want to…" Tears filled amethyst eyes, "I don't know what to say."

"Well, when she sees you without the wig, she'll probably figure it out so you'll have some help there."

Maki's eyebrow arched up, "I could ask her to meet me as Diamond Princess and then show up as…" Maki waved her hands up and down.

Eli considered the outfit: Turtleneck, cargo joggers, "You Are On Native Land" Dad hat. Driving gear.

"Free legal advice. Wear something with more cleavage."

"Shut up."

"So Diamond Princess isn't ghosting her anymore?"

"I texted her during Godzilla. From my bedroom."

Eli almost laughed again, picturing the scene, Maki closed up in her room, like a princess in a tower. "How did she take it?"

"She was great." Maki glanced away, but there was a huge grin on her face. "She wanted to take me out for whatever I wanted. I told I was having trouble writing a song, which I was. But then Rin told me it wasn't like with my parents, I didn't have to keep Nico and music separate. I could…"

Eli sensed a stall coming on, "express your Nico feelings in music."

"So I started and Nico liked the start and now it's nearly finished and I can't wait, I…I want to…know how she reacts."

Maki wasn't like anyone else Eli had ever met. She'd been so surprised when the shy introvert had turned up bold and impulsive, asking for help choreographing for Diamond Princess's first concert. And then Eli had heard the songs, the raw, the physicality, the surges of emotion, the cutting, awkward lyrics. Once she knew that Maki had composed them, seen her stake her claim on stage, reveal her truths, Eli knew that Maki would never get music and performing out of her system, no matter how much med school Maki protested. And if music and Nico had connected for Maki…wow. Eli whistled.

"What?"

"That must have been mind blowing, you and Nico."

Maki took all the macaroons. "Shut up."

"Maki. If you want this to be serious, be real. Tell Nico the truth. All the truth."

"What do you mean?"

"How she makes you feel, how being on stage makes you feel, how med school and your parents…"

"No."

"Maybe if you're honest with her, you can finally be honest with yourself."

Maki looked lost, face slack, eyes watery.

"Take the cleavage advice seriously though. Works every time." Eli winked.

Grimacing, Maki threw the chocolate macaroon at her. Eli could feel the melancholy drain away, a cheerful Christmas background aura filling in again. And for a bonus, the caught macaron was excellent and the chocolate still warm.

Kafken before and now. I thought it'd be cute to draw him before leaving Tural and compare with him now, after transitioning. When he was a girl, his name was Anacappa and was a mediocre and reluctant aspirant of the railroad. Now, getting to travel, meet people and live more freely and glamorously, Kafken's a lot happier. Leaving home was the best decision he made, because it led him to his people. I don't play Kafken a whole lot but I've thought about the ways in which he presents as masc instead of femme and what that transition might've been like. The biggest difference is his hair - upstyles make him look feminine, so he prefers it down. The baby bun ears never changed, though.
