Just said to my wife "What is a spouse for, if not to be handed the Player 2 controller" and it's probably the most "aro-but-somehow-married" thing that's ever been said.

I was doing a quiz in the paper with the fam tonight, and I learned a new word that applies perfectly to Hunter - uxorious: having or showing a great or excessive fondness for one's wife.
I imagine Tech dropping the word to describe Hunter, and then explaining it to Hunter who boasts about it but no Tech didn’t mean it like that but it’s too late, Hunter is running off to tell Cyare.
Oh my goodness this is great, Hunter would be over the moon and so proud of himself to learn this. Even though Tech man stated it very matter-of-factly, and certainly not as a compliment.
Doesn’t matter though, Hunter’s rushing Cyare probably in all her pregnant glory and telling her, knowing it will probably make her blush.

If a ruling lady wants to get out of a marriage, could she order her husband to take the black?
I don't think so, in most cases. To begin with, it seems to be usually the case that the husband of a ruling lady is considered a lord jure uxoris, so I imagine any effort to use the authority of the lordship to dissolve the marriage on those terms would be contested at the very least.
Morever, even in cases where we have ruling ladies in unhappy marriages, we don't see those unions dissolved by decree - otherwise the lives of Rhea Royce or Rhaena Targaryen would have gone very different.

[Admiral Chabot] had come, not to replace to Treaty of Mutual Aid with a dynastic alliance offering the prospect of a future closer tie between [England & France], but because Charles [V] was offering the French king generous concessions concerning his claim to the Duchy of Milan if he successfully arranged a marriage between the Dauphin and [Princess] Mary [...] Chabot was nonplussed when Anne insisted that it must be [Princess] Elizabeth-- not her stepdaughter-- who should marry one of Francis [I]'s sons. Henry too said the Admiral must be joking in proposing Mary as the bride.

my wife told me today that her favorite movie growing up was "a league of their own".
from what I can tell, it's the story of the first women's baseball league overcoming the societal expectation to be delicate feminine flowers and earning the right to smoke, drink, swear, and get dirty.
currently teasing her mercilessly* about not knowing she was a butch lesbian sooner. 🙂
*she's having fun

Listened to a history podcast today where the word uxorious was used, and am thrilled to discover that in English even the term “wife guy” has a Latinate synonym to be used on more formal occasions.
