I was going to make a post about how the line “Science can take us to the moon, but it can’t stop us from hating ourselves once we’re there” has no right to come from a YouTube sketch about putting a skeleton on trial for being dead.

But then I realized you can say that for literally any Value Select video. That guy’s videos are guaranteed to have an absurd premise, an extremely catchy song, a sentence that will live with you forever, and at least five different wigs, all in the span of 3 to 5 minutes.

I don’t keep up with his channel as much as I used to, but I still check in somewhat often, and he’s still going after all these years. Mr. Select has a green screen, an extensive wig collection, and absolute boatloads of talent, and he uses them to make such iconic ballads as Fish Hunt and Hit Me With Your Car. This is turning into a Value Select promotion post and yeah. It is now.

You know it's funny, there's obv the stereotype about male skit YouTubers playing female roles by just sticking a towel on their head, but every time I encounter it I can't help but think of Value Select. Max Renner is pretty unambiguously masc and yet bro is never afraid to don a wig and dress for the sake of the bit, and honestly?

yk i brought omi at first bc i personally thought he'd be funny to take along to the headmaster's office after the polyjuice. i did not intend for my brain to turn the quest into one big bonding time (and foreshadowing). it's fun for me but it was coincidentally a great choice esp with Niamh talking abt what darkness is and its value despite what it is. It's all very foreboding.

Also, just to note. my ravenclaw run is a no dark arts run so Ominis does trust the mc rather implicitly on such matters is how i perceive this. she's vocal abt not wanting to learn it despite still wanting to help sebastian.

How did you decide which characters would be gender selectable vs fixed? That’s always been so fascinating to me!!

I actually couldn't decide 😅 I knew I wanted to have an even amount of gender ROs and needed 1 more boy and 1 more girl. But I couldn't decide: did I want to stick with writing Vivian or explore Vincent? Did I want R to be the rebellious bad boy or bad girl?

So I didn't decide! I wanted to write both versions of those characters 😄 and here we are. Overwhelmed lololololol

I initially had the silly idea of having all the cisgender ROs be gender selectable. Then I started learning how to code this shit and realized that was NOT going to happen 😆 I still kind of love the idea of f!Gabe, f!Jack, and gender-swapped Emersons... but it was scrapped way before it was ever serious. Nothing about personality would have changed, but too many backstories and childhoods needed to be assessed and changed depending on gender. Like, fascinating stuff that I would love to write and explore — but it's just too much writing. There's a whole crime plot waiting on me!

Like, the childhood Gabe had would spit f!Gabe out quite differently... I kinda don't wanna think about it �� since I won't commit to writing it anyway. m!Jessie's childhood would be super different from a spiritual standpoint... f!Jack would be under a lot of pressure from her dad's side of the family to fit in and be popular... The Emersons would have to be completely — just completely rewritten oh my gosh. This I actually do kinda wanna explore on my own 'cause I think it'll give me a fuller read on their parents. Plus, how does m!Heidi's character develop since his dad actually gives a shit what he does and invests in his future?? What's a f!Curt like with basically no familial attention and oversight??? I have no idea but I kind of want to!! 🤣

hv u seen that twt post of a fan asking sky abt a bl w nani and he said if the script is suitable/appropriate he may consider it.... yknow we just need a GOOD script n everything would b fine.. his older fans said that sky is rlly known for picking scripts that is best for him. 🙏🏻

yess i've seen it !! honestly love that response, it's awesome that he really considers the scripts and projects before he chooses them. that's how you get quality works, when everything behind it is intentional and you know thought was put into it :) and we know that if (when) we get the skynani bl, it WILL be a masterpiece 😌

now we just have to manifest for that script to come along 😩 p'aof p'boss i'm counting on u 🙏🙏
