#this post brought to you by: me #i. applied for a preapproval letter for a mortgage yesterday. and spoke to a realtor to start finding me houses #i want to move several states away which further complicated things. but the houses there are CHEAP #like under 100k for a 2 bedroom move in ready #anyways i got approved for 80k with a 20k down payment. and im FREAKING THE FUCK OUT #and because i got that pre app letter i have a loan officer calling me today to talk #and we literally work at the same bank so i can SEE that hes active and hasnt read my message #even though its been 45 minutes. KEVIN MESSAGE ME BACK. IM NOT GONNA BE ABLE TO FOCUS UNTIL I DO THIS CALL #AHHHHHHH S C R E A M. it might happening!!!! i might be finally.mov8ng out in a few months!!!#i mgiht be a HOMEOWNER by the end of the year #i have been saving money for this since i was. 16? 17?#ive had a good well paying job since i was 18.#AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH #once i have a house then i start job searching in that area. and start getting really serious about LEAVING my very good job #which is soooo scary. this job was supposed to be my lifelong career. but then everyone fucking moved to other states and left me behind #so theres no point staying here.#i might never have this kind of job security again.#but also my realtor said that theres a lot of bank jobs in that area so maybe itll be easy to find something #on the fence on if i tell my parents that im Making Moves right now #on one hand its hard to not talk about it becuae im STRESSED TF OUT #but on the other hand when i tentatively mentioned the state i want to move to #richard started yelling and swearing el oh el #might be better to wait and avoid the tension as long as possible?#but also i dont know how they can stay angry when its literally my best option #the other places where my friends live either have 0 opportunity and high housing prices. or are even moe liberal than where im going #idk. why do half of my problems come down to “my parents will be mad” like im a 12 year old or something. shit fucking sucks #this is why i want to get out of here #also it feels weird and bad to talk to my friends about how stressed i am about buying a house when all of them are stressed about #not being able to make rent or something. my problems feel like a brag in a really odd and shitty way. but hey!#if this works out maybe ill start being stressed about how im going to make my mortgage payments! :') yay!

NGL, it is very mindboggling to me as a person coming from a police and commercial detection dog training background that so many people who do nosework seem to struggle with imprinting? Like I see it brought up frequently as one of the most common challenges people have and want webinars or classes for, and I’m like... but that’s the easiest part of detection???

#which also seems to imply that nosework people aren't taking any pointers from actual detection dog training too which I find odd #because imprinting is a non-issue for working detection dog training #it's like the first easy step that you breeze past and is mostly done in the form of playing games #not even involving any sort of formal training setup or clicker or often even treats because the play is the training and the reward #unless you have a dog who is significantly more motivated by food than play in which case food rewards might be used #not to like downplay the struggle of people who are having issues with imprinting I'm just very curious *why*#like what is the piece that nosework trainers or classes are missing that is leading people to struggle with it so often?#is it the method they're using? the equipment? is it missing base knowledge on how scent works scientifically and how dogs imprint on scent #maybe I'll take some nosework classes one day to see more of what things look like on the sport side and why those issues keep popping up #my suspicion is that it is mostly method and equipment #causing cross contamination issues for imprinting and causing people to expect the imprinting to be successful before that's feasible #basically rushing it and not having enough direct in-nose-and-mouth target odor contact before moving on to searching and alert shaping #I'm just rambling because detection is a special interest of mine don't mind me #if you ever want me to talk forever and never shut up ask me about detection dog training lol #OH also trying to imprint multiple odors at the same time #i bet thats a part of the problem #i see posts with people talking about inteoducing 3 or 4 odors in one session sometimes and am like??????#imprint one odor completely then start the next one or at least keep them confined to separate sessions

Been on a major skyrim kick so here's my skyrim guy! My sneaky wizard with every disease <3

#his name is nirith beloth and he has lived in skyrim (windhelm) since his early teens #parents sent him there because it eas the closest place without tons of smoke and ash #and he has breathing problems so that was An Issue #he went from sickly kid always reading books to sickly adult who searches for forbidden knowledge #armor: dust adept armor. mod is just called dust adept armor iirc #setting for the images is tel jerdain which is the telvani wizard tower home from the mod tel jerdain #both very easy to find and nice mods i like them a lot #he loves books a lot he will always help the college librarian find books in dangerous locations #(also he will be collecting the black books he just does not know that yet)#he mostly worships azura at this point but Hermaeus mora is definitely calling to him #i use the mod that lets you actually follow a diety #and i technically have him as a follower of Hermaeus mora rn. but im trying to rp it as he still considers himself a follower of azura #and still prays to her #and thinks the boons about knowledge are just her giving him knowledge for the future #and the eldritch texts hes finding are just odd pages hes collecting because hes a book collector #he doesnt know its moras influence yet #undescribed #skyrim

sometimes I develop stock backstories for a particular character that I can tweek for a variety of aus because i just like the vibe. Like Cas growing up in a big religiously abusive family on an isolated farm and maybe murdering his dad in his teens and getting away with it (don't worry about it.)

Anyway one I like for supernatural generally is just like. The Apocalypse gets derailed entirely by accident and no one has any idea what to do now. On the one hand it's a very utilitarian thing. I wanna write early seasons fic without the looming threat of the apocalypse hanging over everything sometimes you know? But I also just really like that vibe. The fact that the world is never going to end as like a source of existential horror. Especially for this species whose purpose is entirely tied up in the apocalypse. What does a world look like when it's been abandoned by God and just keeps on going? The same as it always did.

I like to imagine the slow death of heaven as the debate on if they should restart the apocalypse and how rages, and as they try to figure out what went wrong and who's to blame the lies that sustain this system start to crumble. They find out God hasn't been giving orders for a long time and now the final thread of prophecy he left them has snapped and they're left floundering. Some dedicated few go searching for him but when it becomes clear he's not to be found and isn't coming back it all just starts to seem so pointless. The archangels are locked in debate over what to do next, middle management is just trying to keep dissent from spreading, and all the while more rank and file angels are just... slipping out the back door when no one's looking. They aren't needed in heaven, they aren't needed anywhere, what can they do but try to find some purpose for themselves? And what better example to follow than those small ignorant favoured creations who have always had to construct meaning for themselves in the face of the daunting prospect of free will?

That's where Castiel goes looking anyway.

My favourite version of this is one where he ends up making a Reverse Doomsday Cult.

#spn #castiel #spn angels #The World Is Not Going To End: What To Do In The Face Of The Horror Of A Perpetual Existence #technically he takes over a cult #see cause I feel like Cas #especially when vulnerable and in search of guidance #would easily fall prey to cult recruitment tactics #heaven is also a cult I think he would find it comforting and familiar and treat it all as normal #he would be oblivious to the danger signs at first #but see once he did become aware of the types of violation and abuse that occur in those kinds of organizations #well he's an angel he makes with the smiting #which leaves him with a bunch of people already primed and vulnerable due to the fact that they were in a cult in the first place #doubly so because many of those spared would of course be victims feeling a mixture of fear and gratitude towards #the man who has just very convincingly revealed himself to be OH YEAH a LEGIT Angel #super easy to just end up in charge of the cult #on the one hand Cas is a much nicer cult leader in part on account of how he came here to seek guidance From humans #So the whole thing shakes out to be a lot more democratic than all that #on the other hand there is no way Castiel knows how to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy community building #not to mention he would undoubtedly share the truth about monsters and the supernatural with his followers #and if they were at all tempted to say #bring their mission of doing good works in the world to that particular problem #or even just build up defenses around their safe haven #well now suddenly this fringe religious group is stockpiling weapons #and that does not look good

how do u make ur pixel art so high res ?

I'm still learning myself, but this is my process! I even forget to change the settings to "hard edges" sometimes and it still comes out fine. I usually bump the scale up by 10, but that really depends on your canvas size. Mine are around 480 x 270 pixels usually and then x 10 for resolution. I imagine you can use this with any program that allows you to edit the resolution.

Tumblr and ao3 are the pinnacle of website design. Ao3's filters are amazing. Tumblr's tag system is great. I go to any other site, save something months ago and then never will be able to find it again. I read a thread on twitter that I adore and have to hope that the author has it saved to a "link to the threads" tweet pinned on their page in order to find it again. I read something interesting screenshotted on Instagram and cannot find it when it becomed relevant again. I have to dig down and down and down on someone's page to find anything from years ago.

It's honestly a nightmare.
