been thinking about the neglected section of dagger's lore after he leaves the bakkers as a teen and winds up in a smuggler outfit and aaaa for so long i couldn't grasp details of it all but now its flooding in and its coming together :ratscream:
#like. imagining this very old school set of self-reliant outlaws#they have a hq base on a farm where they grow their own food and even have horses (rare and stolen ofc)#very low-tech#the leader was originally a man but gd that was stupid it's obviously gotta be a big buff old badass lady#dagger would never willingly take orders from a dude (daddy issues) and thats a big reason he hates being in the clan#but he would look at this woman and what she does with a little bit of awe and a lot of respect#and the farm brings back nostalgia from his childhood even though so much of it was bad its something he subconciously longs for. some kind#of stability. and he knows how to work because of it and that puts him in good graces right off the bat#he's used to being low tech its natural for him#and this is where he starts his love of knives#guns are a hassle they rely on ammo they're heavy and bulky and hackable but knives are pure fight and skill#and so visceral. and he learns how to fight and has a love affair with close combat and pain and blood and sweat and dirt#but it starts to corrupt him a little bit. he cares less about the jobs and more about causing pain and feeling pain#so it falls apart of course but its a very integral part of his life

#fantasy high#riz gukgak#kristen applebees#gorgug thistlespring#adaine abernant#fabian seacaster#figueroth faeth#the bad kids#half tempted to say these names are forum handles they use so much it pretty much became their professional names lol#I keep them teenagers bc its funnier that way#no real lore I just like drawing this. but I do think abt how theyre all weirdos too also bc thats funny to me#riz is a huge conspiracyhead who does everything by hands. he has a casio fx-570 in mint condition. nobody knows how he's maintaining it#he is nonetheless Really Good at his job. which somewhat tracks bc it's a job that requires keeping up with interstation conflicts#and new policies and an obsessive amount of planning. but he is Too Good at it. and also he dresses like that#kristen has the atomic engine that theoretically lets her unmake and remake matters with her mind. but it consumes a huge amount#of energy so it's mostly useless. she's still a cult survivor also#gorgug lives his entire life on a ship with his parents who quit a cushy deal maintaining a space station bc he wouldn't be allowed on#the low gravity let him grow very tall but also his oxygen saturation is pretty bad so he's got breathing support#fig is a robot who just found out she's a robot like two months ago. she's been assuming everyone's a robot like her and she's been feeling#very betrayed by her mom lying about that part. she's on a body mod spree which is rough bc system-specific parts are expensive#and so is adapting random parts to her system#fabian's still a pirate captain's son. can't say anything that'd be able to get the vibes across clearer than that#adaine went to tech/business school. she put her monthly allowance towards an ecoterrorist group in her academy which turned out to be an o#and she's currently wanted by UTS. more than fabian. which makes him slightly mad#she's also acquired a passion for low-tech weaponry on the way. she likes ice picks and cleavers#I think up all of this for no reason except that once again the idea of all these people being 1/teens and 2/on the same ship to be posties#is hilarious to me. esp. if they were in a forum group chat beforehand

WHY do no virginia colleges have nonfiction mfa programs except for the one i don't really like the nonfiction faculty at. it's not fucking fair.
(warning so much whining occurs in the tags)
#i am 90% confident that i could get into that one first try and get funding and not have to move but that's the problem#i want one where admission feels like a challenge this one admitted a person i knew in freshman year whose writing i thought sucked shit#and i realize that 'writing sucked shit in 2018' doesn't mean they might not be very good now but...... idk. one of the two nonfiction#faculty members just writes politics journalism which is NOT CNF!!!!!! the students seem really cool but that's true anywhere!!#but everything else i have to move states and risk jennys career for. and i dont want to do low res bc i wanna learn to teach#i realize that it's just a case of 'you want too fucking much katia' but it's not faaaair va has so many good colleges & no good cnf progra#the real answer is i will apply when i planned (a year from this fall) and let fate decide and jenny is smart and cool and will find a job#with the awareness that i'm limiting my mfa applications to large metropolitan areas for reasons besides Job Availability For Wife#it's just all so complicated and stressful#and to add insult to injury pittsburgh would be way easier than the midwest but THAT TOO has professors i like less#and faculty is key yknow#anyway the school i'm dunking on here will probably be my safety regardless i'd rather have An MFA than none at all i think#but bluhhhh it makes me sad#i would happily go to tech or uva if they HAD A CNF PROGRAM#well okay maybe moreso uva but only because tech is in the middle of nowhere#RIGHT AND ALSO UMD#WHICH FUNDS 100% OF THE PEOPLE IT ACCEPTS BUT AGAIN: NO NONFICTION#i shoulda been a fucking poet

it rlly does suck that musicals tend to get written off as monolithically bad because its deeply assumptive and can hardwall interest in an enitre genre, esp when live theatre is frankly under appreciated and such an interesting collaborative medium. what sucks even worse tho is how hard musicals are to defend because. well most of them are bad.

#its me im the android boy#i have been thinking Very Much recently and um#i donot think im Supposed to be in a human body#i think i would be much more at home in a mechanical body humming with electricity from every wire and circuit board#like yeah im Future Tech but also im a cheapie low-end bot#with faulty wiring and batteries that are already wearing out#i look like a Person from a distance and even sorta up close but rip me open and its all wiring#as much as i look human there are human expereinces i can never quite replicate#and certainly cant understand#so while im programmed to strive for humanity#i will always be limited by the fundamental nature of that selfsame code#what does a robot know of human nature? nothing but want#anyways#and thats on chronic dissociation#or whatever#whatever the fuck#unreality /#<- i dont need reality check on this but jic for other folks#i am like. actually a little more comfortable in my existence now that i dont feel as confined to 'being human'

I keep seeing so many cop out "Pinterest didn't credit the artist" or "I couldn't find who drew it"-- 99% of the time it takes me less than two minutes to find the artist. do better.
