(SPOILERS FOR ARCANE S1 AND PREDICTIONS FOR S2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now yeah yeah, I know what they say about Jinx being a shimmer-fueled, feral, quick-draw who's totalled Caitlyn Kiramman once but I'd like to bring your attention to the fact that Caitlyn was hindered by Vi's hopes that Powder was still inside Jinx somewhere as well as her own hesitation regarding killing as she's never killed before. But that changes when her failure to take the shot results in the death of many more, including her own mother. This is a huge gateway into the psychology of the Caitlyn we know. The larger possibility for season 2 I want to explore is how Cassandra Kiramann's veritable death is going to affect Cait because Cait so far has been pragmatic with little to no skin in the game but with her mom gone, she becomes the new heir to the Kiramman throne and essentially the next Council superpower who is faced with an undoubted, violent terrorist attack that can greenlight war. In the case of the older Council being obliterated, I do not doubt that aside from Vi's undying hopes of "changing" Jinx, Caitlyn will gain complete surety of Jinx's capacities for evil and lose faith in rehabilitating Powder and by extension Vi's attempts to reach to her little sister. Whether Vi chooses Cait's side or not.
Tumblr media
Contrary to the calm, reasonable, open to learn and slow-to-react Caitlyn in Season 1, the new, Season 2 Cait could be a) Fueled by her beloved mother's assassination b) a fresh (possible) break from Vi (Depending on who's side Vi takes after the Council is destroyed) her lover and closest link to the Undercity who is partially the reason she couldn't neutralise Jinx in time, allowing her to shoot up the Council building using the Hex crystal powered Fishbones shot c) If radicalised, Cait has access to any and all resources through her family to declare war and participate actively in it to kill Jinx. Not to mention access to all sorts of Hextech weapons she can put her hands on. d) unlike Jinx, Caitlyn is not easily distracted by mind games and isn't self-destructive. With her focus and obsession to do the right thing, shooting prowess, and quick thinking, like Vi said "And I thought Powder could get obsessed" they are a combat match made in heaven. With everything we've seen before, we know that Jinx can easily be outleveled, by Vi, and Ekko, at least in her non-shimmer state. The only thing cushioning her is the memory of Powder for both Vi and Ekko.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Caitlyn however, can bring Hextech to Chemtech just as easily and care nothing for Jinx/Powder outside of knowing that she's responsible for her mother's death and for the lives of many in the war ensuing. Big weights in the scales are both Vi and Ekko and it all depends on if they still stick by Jinx which I heavily doubt they will. Ekko already lost much faith in her, the remnants she killed on the bridge by blowing them both up. Not to mention the number of Firelights she's killed and also framed for her own actions. It's on Vi now... because I know Vander's voice is a big factor in her being attached to Powder and hope to unite them but I simply can't see her sticking up for her sister after she blew the Council up after killing Silco. She also saw her attack Caitlyn so consider that. If Vi sticks by Caitlyn and Ekko sticks by Piltover, Vi, and Caitlyn along with Heimerdinger AND CONSIDER Sevika and the Chem Barons turning against Jinx for crushing their dream to buy Zaun's freedom and killing The Industrialist who was at the forefront of Zaun's struggle for freedom... Jinx is going to be on the run for a long while with no one by her side unless she decides to surrender or give up the path she's currently on. Which is tough because with the blood on her hands, that's like a self-decreeing her death because the people against her, unlike Vi or Ekko, don't care if she changes. They just want her dead and out of the way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This whole scenario changes only if between Zaun and Piltover comes a third party that threatens Vi's life in essence, because I can't see Jinx choosing to reconsider or defend anyone unless it's her sister. Even after Silco's death, she didn't lash out immediately at Vi when she could've killed her to avenge Silco and with how instinctively she killed Silco to protect her sister as well as firing away at the Council, I just know that atleast in that sense, the Powder who would do anything to protect her sister, is not dead and will most likely never die. It is the same for Vi. I'm just musing here but if any of this comes true I WARNED YOU!!

One of the things I wish for in Season 2 is more scenes of Vander and Vi together as flashbacks and how he was training her. Honestly, I think this would be an excellent helper to the story, when Vander returns as WarWick. And so does Vi when you realize it's Vander.

More Arcane Zodiac Stuff! Yippeeee!!!
Kinda a long post, but worth the read I swear! :,)
In a previous post I theorized one of Jinx's big three could be Scorpio-Sagittarius rising, but I also think alternatively Aquarius-Capricorn could really suit her too! Keeping in touch with the official zodiacs, her being Aquarius:
Tumblr media
Aquarius-Capricorn rising could suit her well because she not only has that rebellious, aloof streak---but is also someone who works very hard toward achievement, to be recognized by those she looks up to, but not necessarily in a socially adored way.
Not in the ways of Taurus, who is admired for their tenacity and strength, or Virgo for their social navigation and gifted functionality, both of which are very admired socially. But more in the cunning, silent but deadly way of Capricorn. Who is, funny enough, synonymous with the Devil. Not as pure as the other earth signs, especially in the eyes of others. More seen alongside "evil" tropes.
In her case, a fallen angel, delving into more demonic, socially unacceptable motives. Innocence from her sun sign (Pisces-Aries, the most youthful signs) fallen into more cunning, devilish tendencies (Aquarius-Capricorn, rebellious and sharp).
Tumblr media
(A strong color for Capricorn is also dark blue, kinda reminds me of her in general and the river "death" scene. Just wanna leave that here lol)
I also kinda like how they assigned Vander as Capricorn, because it really shows the duality of the sign. He ruled the Undercity before Silco, similar in a way to the devil (in the eyes of Topside, above and pristine) ruling a sort of "hell" symbolically.
Which was taken over by Silco. A different, similar but much more cunning and revolutionary sort of devil. I'd like to think that Silco would have the same placement as Jinx, Aquarius-Capricorn. The reason for their more cunning approach being that rebel, aloof Aquarius. Explains why he understood her. And Vander would have Sagittarius-Capricorn. One rebellious and the other more fiery, capable of having more strong bits of rage. The two brothers having similar charts is such a good concept to think about, because in a way they were really halves of each other. Similar but torn apart by circumstances. A tragedy, like Arcane is.
I hear a lot that the sign of Capricorn is usually assigned to evil characters. And honestly, it's very true. A sort of curse for the sign. Being seen as evil and cunning despite the hard work they put forth, the care they have for their goals that they express through their workaholic efforts.
Tumblr media
Even in this scene, you can literally see the sweat dripping down her chin! She's working hard! But a problem Capricorns are notorious for facing is difficulty having their efforts acknowledged, and a strong need to be seen for their work, despite it not being favored socially.
Tumblr media
"You have to work. For me, okay?" -Powder
It could be argued that Jinx isn't disciplined or responsible enough to have a major Capricorn placement. But the way that she immediately gets to work on the weapon when Silco asks, and how she can go from silly to serious in seconds really shows those aspects to me. She can discipline her emotions to her advantage, acting-wise or in other ways. Same as how she is responsible when it comes to working on something she sees will help. They may not show in the most obvious sense, but they are there!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She can go from fun to dead serious quickly, which is something I see in Capricorns a lot. Laughing one minute, giving you a death stare the next. Especially Aquarius-Capricorns, the good acting in Aquarius really paves the way.
Also just want to add how I absolutely love how the color scheme can play into some of the character placements.
The Undercity is a green world, in a way. And green is synonymous with Virgo, which I think could really fit Vander and Vi. Both are responsible, reliable, logical, patient, stubborn, organized planning-wise, hardworking, socially-adept (probably Virgo-Libra, they are righteous and charismatic!), observant, and most importantly gifted in a way. Very similar to Vi, who was a prodigy. They want things to go according to plan, to go perfectly. They want to keep up their responsible appearance to those who look up to them, and can be critical and sarcastic to those who stand in the way.
Tumblr media
It makes it all the more sad how Silco would remind Jinx that she's perfect, something she probably always wanted to be for and hear from Vi. Someone who was gifted, perfect. Something she wanted to be too, because she looked up to Vi, but unfortunately didn't come as naturally to her as it did her older sister.
Tumblr media
But in a way, they made that green world theirs. Not grounds that were made for them, that were originally theirs, but they made theirs anyway. Their playground.
And in true water sign fashion, they embodied it, reflected it a hundred times over. Became the rulers of that world that once rejected them. Becoming what they once feared, and coming out stronger than before.

Today I’m thinking about how yeah, Vi was parentified, but both Vi and Jinx grew up too fast. To an extent this is true for all kids in Zaun however I mean it in regards to Vander and Silco.
The girls are their kids/prodigies but they also function as their partners, taking on adult responsibilities. Vi obvs arguably takes on half the adult responsibilities in the household by taking care of the kids but Jinx also does that. She feels responsible for Silco’s safety (her space in the rafters), she’s responsible for helping him take his medicine and she takes initiative when it comes to going on missions (the shimmer shipment and wanting to fix it/stealing the crystal), so she also seems to feel personally responsible for Silco’s movement/business succeeding.
Which is funny cos Vander essentially lacks a co-parent (ahem ahem Silco) and so that role falls onto Vi, and Silco lacks a companion/business partner (ahem ahem Vander) and so that role falls onto Jinx. So Vander nuked his relationship with Silco only to go on to essentially need a Silco replacement and vice versa for Silco when he killed Vander lol.

Part 2 of the Modern AU, this time with the Zaundads and their feral daughters. I headcanon that they live in a run down trailerpark and they're basically like an unhinged sitcom. They're a dysfunctional family but the best kind 👌
