“Foie gras? More like fuck yeah.”
You barely hold back a snort as you pass a table of finely dressed patrons, their laughter chiming like the delicate crystal glasses they toast with. The restaurant practically oozes luxury. Soft golden chandeliers cast a warm glow over polished mahogany tables, with tall candlesticks flickering atop pristine white tablecloths. There’s a subtle Japanese influence woven into the elegance, from the delicate ink paintings adorning the walls to the serene arrangement of bonsai trees near the entrance.
After picking up your dad’s birthday cake, you had killed some time at a café before making your way here for the dinner Emily had arranged weeks in advance. Apparently, being a famous author has its perks.
Cole moves with ease, utterly unfazed by the people surrounding him. Meanwhile, you can practically feel every scrutinizing glance sweeping over you. Your outfit. Your posture. Your entire existence.
Confidence? Never heard of her.
Your stomach tightens at the unspoken question lingering in their stares, darting between you and Cole with barely reined in curiosity. You don’t even have to look to know that some of these people recognize him, whispered conversations teetering on the edge of gossip. Your mind briefly flashes to the inevitable newspaper articles, only to recall his reassurance that Cyrus Borg was keeping the news at bay.
A sliver of respect inches into your gut at how unnerved he seems. To be fair, fighting for the safety of Ninjago itself tends to bear more weight than snide gossip. Still, the feeling lingers, making your steps feel just a bit more awkward as the hostess leads you further inside.
At last, she stops in front of a private room and slides open the door with practiced grace. The transition from the bustling main dining area to the quiet intimacy of the room is almost jarring. The soft glow of paper lanterns casts long shadows over the tatami flooring, and a low wooden table sits in the center, set with lacquered trays and delicate ceramic dishes.
Cole waits for you to slip off your shoes first, stepping onto the mat in just your socks. In the corner of your eyes, the hostess pauses, her gaze flitting down momentarily.
Right. The candy cane socks.
You force yourself not to react, but inwardly, you sigh. Plain socks from now on. Noted.
Emily and your dad are already sitting down opposite each other, a bottle of sake already half-emptied. Neither of you are big drinkers, but somehow, your dad was blessed with the genetics of zero hangovers. A trait that, fortunately, he passed down to you.
The sound of your footsteps draws his attention, and he looks up with a big smile. “You’re here!” He greets enthusiastically, patting the spot next to him. “I already ordered some food for us.”
The way Cole straightens ever so slightly, inhaling as if bracing himself, almost makes you smile, but you press your lips together and drop into the seat next to your dad. There's another open spot beside you, but Cole, sensing the silent don't even think about it radiating from your dad, moves to slide into the seat directly across from you instead.
Your dad hums, clearly pleased, and reaches for one of the sake cups. “So.” He sets it down in front of Cole with casual deliberation, then leans back. “You’re my daughter’s soulmate.”
Oh, for fuck’s sake.
Immediately tugging at his sleeve, you give him the sharpest glare you can muster. “Stop it.”
Your dad blinks at you, all wide-eyed innocence. “Stop what?”
“This. You’re doing something.”
“I’m not doing anything.”
“Yes, you are. It’s called killing your daughter’s dignity.”
At this, he snorts and takes a sip of sake before leveling you with an unimpressed look. “What dignity?”
Your mouth opens. Then, it closes.
You stare at him in sheer betrayal, utterly speechless at how intent he is on dragging you.
Across the table, Cole shifts just enough for your eyes to meet, his silent plea for help practically screaming do something.
You shrug helplessly.
Sorry bud. I tried.
Cole visibly withers.
Emily, meanwhile, is sipping her diet coke like this is the most entertaining show she’s seen all week.
Your dad clears his throat, finally relenting, though the glint in his eyes tells you he's far from done. “Alright then, tell me. How’d you two meet?”
Cole stiffens, then, without hesitation, reaches for the sake bottle. He smoothly refills your dad’s cup before pouring one for himself, clearing his throat as he sets the bottle down. “She, uh… saved me.”
Your dad raises an eyebrow. “Saved you?”
“From a horde of fans.”
You swear you see your dad’s lips twitch. He looks from Cole to you, skepticism creeping into his expression.
Cole catches on immediately. His spine straightens, and he shakes his head, hands raised slightly in alarm. “I mean, not like that! Nothing’s ever happened between me and anyone else, ever.”
Your dad takes a slow sip of sake, watching Cole as if deciding whether or not to kick him out of the room. Dropping your head into your hands, it takes all the remaining willpower left in your body to not slam your head against the table.
Your stomach churns.
This is a disaster.
You’ve been in nerve-wracking situations before, but nothing could’ve prepared you for the unique horror of watching your dad size up your soulmate like he’s deciding whether to drown him in soy sauce.
You drop your head into your hands, pressing your fingers into your temples as if sheer willpower alone can make this night go faster.
He’s doing this on purpose.
Desperate for an out, you spot a menu and snatch it up with all the sanity of an asylum patient. Thumbing through the pages, you try to focus on the blurry words and not on the intense heat that’s slowly but surely spreading through your face.
Your dad, of course, is unfazed.
“So,” he says, swirling his sake. “What’s it been like for you? I’m sure it wasn’t easy with my daughter.”
You tense.
Cole hesitates. “Uh–”
“I was actually thinking we should order,” you interject, voice an octave higher than usual. “Dad, do you think they have–” Your eyes dart across the menu. “Grilled octopus?”
He ignores you entirely. “I just mean, it must’ve been an adjustment, right? She’s never been one to romanticize the whole soulmate thing. Pretty closed off about it, actually.” He raises a brow at Cole. “That ever been an issue?”
The menu snaps shut with a thwack. “So we are getting grilled octopus.”
Cole, looking like a deer caught in headlights, gives an awkward chuckle. “I mean… yeah, it was a bit of a shock. She, uh, wasn’t exactly thrilled at first.” He glances at you for backup.
You stare back, wide-eyed and helpless white trying to subtly shake your head. Do NOT answer that.
He clears his throat. “But, uh, we’re figuring things out.”
Of course he fucking answered it–
Your dad hums, unconvinced. Then, casually, like he’s discussing the weather, he asks, “So, what do you make? Income-wise?”
The menu slams back onto the table with enough force to shake the teacups. “Dad.”
“What?” he asks, all innocence. “I just want to make sure you have a stable life.”
Your fingers dig into the menu’s edges. “Why? So I won’t end up like you and Mom?”
Silence.
It hits the table like a brick, the air suddenly heavy. Your dad’s easygoing expression falters, a flicker of something unreadable crossing his face. Emily, who had been quietly observing, glances between the two of you but says nothing.
Your eyes are fixed on the empty teacup in front of you, grabbing the sake from where it sits and pouring yourself a cup before downing it in one shot. The burn is wonderful, a nice distraction from the words you’ve just uttered that’ve set off a round of landmines at the table.
Regret blooms in your gut when you spot the expression on your father’s face. Guilt, sadness, and mild frustration all swirl in a mix of emotions in his eyes. It’s subtle; the way his grip tightens on his cup.
Cole clears his throat, shifting in his seat. In a clear attempt to redirect the conversation, he says, “Uh, well — Master Wu always taught us that we shouldn’t get paid to help people. But sometimes we take on ad hoc jobs, and people send donations.” He straightens slightly. “I invest most of it though, so I’m actually pretty financially secure.”
Your dad finally blinks, tilting his head. “Huh. So you’re smart with your money.”
Cole nods. “I try to be. Considering the amount of coffee she drinks, I have to be able to afford it, right?”
The atmosphere lightens at the sudden jab, and you narrow your eyes at him. “Really Brookstone? We’re gonna talk about my spending habits?”
Cole winces, exchanging a cheeky glance with your dad who grins widely. “Oh, you’re in trouble now,” he warns.
Just as you open your mouth to retaliate, the sliding door shifts open, and the first round of dishes arrives. The smell of freshly grilled fish and steaming rice temporarily distracts you, and you sit back as the server gracefully places the dishes in the center of the table. A delicate plate of sashimi, a bowl of miso soup, and a platter of karaage with a side of dipping sauce join the spread.
Your dad picks up his chopsticks with ease, nodding in approval. “Not bad. You get a lot of good food traveling around, Cole?”
Cole, who had just reached for a piece of karaage, pauses slightly at the question before shrugging. “Depends. A lot of the time, we’re eating on the go, so quick stuff that’s easy to pack is our usual. But when we do get the chance to sit down, we try to enjoy it.” He glances at you. “I mean, I know someone who would riot if she didn’t get a proper meal.”
You resist the urge to kick him under the table. “Excuse me for having standards.”
Your dad hums in amusement. “Must be a lot of work though, being the Earth Ninja. And now, with my daughter involved…” His gaze sharpens slightly, though there’s no outright hostility.
Cole meets his eyes without flinching. “It is a lot of work,” he admits. “But keeping her safe is a priority.”
Your chopsticks falter slightly. You knew, of course, that Cole was obligated to keep you out of harm’s way, but hearing him say it so plainly even as a simple statement makes something tighten in your chest.
Your dad doesn’t look entirely convinced. “And how do you plan on doing that when the world finds out?”
There’s a pause before Cole speaks again, slower this time. “Cyrus Borg has been helping us keep things under wraps for now. We’ll go public when she’s ready.”
You blink, caught off guard at the sudden reveal. A twinge of appreciation creeps into your chest before you can shove it down.
Your dad leans back, considering. “Borg, huh? Guess you’ve got some decent allies.” He glances at you, as if to gauge your reaction. “And you? What do you think about all this?”
You pick at a grain of rice with your chopsticks, reluctant to answer too quickly.
Emily, who has been surprisingly quiet this whole time, finally chimes in. “I, for one, think it’s pretty funny that this has thrown her off so much,” she muses. “Usually, she’s the one keeping people on their toes.”
You shoot her a look, but she only smirks behind her cup.
Cole snickers. “Yeah, that’s true.”
Traitor.
“That’s not the point,” you speak up with a roll of your eyes. “You asked me to bring him along to get to know each other better, and I’m pretty sure I’ve accomplished that.”
“True,” your dad muses as he chews on a piece of sashimi. “Shouldn’t have taken you so long, though.”
“Yeah, yeah.” You wave dismissively, placing a piece of the karaage on Cole’s plate before reaching for a slice of salmon. “If you’re done interrogating him, can we please focus on the food before I eat it all?”
“See? This is what I deal with.” Your dad gestures to you, sharing a laugh with Cole. His mischievous smile only makes you narrow your eyes into a glare. “I don’t know how you wound up with her, but you deserve much better.”
“That’s just offensive,” you grumble, snatching another slice of salmon off your dad’s plate. “I’m supposed to be too good for him, isn’t that how this goes?”
“I’m sorry, have you saved Ninjago yet?” He replies sassily, taking away the salmon you’ve just snatched and placing it onto Cole’s plate instead.
You just sigh.
“Speaking of saving Ninjago,” Emily puts her chopsticks down, turning to face Cole. “I’m writing a new book based on one of Ninjago’s oldest legends. As someone who’s encountered lots of myths, I’d love to hear your opinion on it.”
“Sure,” he says lightheartedly, “hit me with it.”
“It’s based on the Ninjago legend of the Four Scrolls.”
Okay… you blink, exchanging a look with Cole. Must be a coincidence.
His expression is calm, but you don’t miss the way he subtly straightens, exchanging another glance with you. You press your lips together, feigning nonchalance as you turn back to Emily.
“Didn’t take you for the history buff type,” you remark.
Emily lifts a brow. “Just because we don’t get along doesn’t mean I have bad taste in stories.” She leans forward, eyes glinting with satisfaction now that she has everyone’s attention. “The legend dates back to the time of the First Spinjitzu Master. It’s said that he discovered something…Something powerful enough to shake the foundation of all the realms.”
The table quiets. Even your dad, who’d been busy stacking wasabi onto his sushi like an absolute menace, pauses mid-bite.
Emily continues, voice lowering just slightly, as if the very act of speaking the words demands absolute silence.
“They call it the Fountain of Youth.” She lets the name hang in the air for a beat before continuing. “A wellspring of endless vitality, hidden deep within the world, untouched by time. But when word of its existence spread, it led to chaos. A war unlike any other, fought not for land or wealth, but for immortality itself. Every species — serpentine, humans, even the spirits — wanted it for themselves.”
Your grip tightens around your chopsticks. The theft of the first Scroll hadn’t even been made public yet, and everything Pixel had briefed you on was missing one crucial piece: the purpose of the Scrolls.
Emily’s research was probably full of embellishments, but if there was one thing you knew, it was how obsessively thorough she was. She met with experts, dissected myths, and hunted down obscure details, all for the sake of accuracy in her books.
So how, of all people, did she manage to unearth this legend in such detail?
“But the First Spinjitzu Master knew what power like that could do,” Emily goes on. “So instead of using it, he hid it. Sealed it away where no one could find it. And to ensure it would never fall into the wrong hands, he created a map… but divided it into four.”
“The Four Scrolls,” Cole murmurs.
Emily nods. “The Scroll of Fate, the Scroll of Destiny, the Scroll of Desire, and the Scroll of Dreams. Each one contains a fragment of the map, but only when the first three are brought together does the fourth reveal itself.”
“The Scroll of Dreams?” You echo, leaning back as your brows furrow. “I thought its name was lost.”
Emily shrugs nonchalantly. “I met with an archaeologist the other day. She uncovered an old dig site with hieroglyphs on the wall. I was called in to consult because I studied under Professor Jones.” She pauses for a beat, noticing the surprise in both yours and Cole’s expressions. “Why? You two look like I just cast a curse.”
“I…I need to make a call.” Cole stumbles to his feet. Your eyes meet briefly, a sinking feeling in your stomach as he hurriedly exits the room.
“I’m…gonna go take a shit.”
Your dad blinks. “Sure, honey. Let me know if you need medicine or something.”
As you step out of the room, you catch sight of Cole slipping through the side door. You follow him into the dimly lit car park, the cool air biting at your skin. “...yeah, that’s what we just found out. I’m not sure how reliable it is, but we should still look into it. Just in case.”
You wait, leaning against the wall, eyes trained on him as he speaks into his phone. The quiet hum of the night air fills the space between you, but something shifts when you catch the mention of your name.
Without him noticing, you stay silent, your heartbeat a little louder now, a mix of hesitation and curiosity gripping you. It’s far easier to remain in the shadows, letting him speak freely, than to interrupt him.
Then you hear it.
“...Zane and Lloyd found what?” His voice drops, the tension in his stance tightening like a wire about to snap. He rakes a hand through his hair, his words turning sharp, brittle. “I don’t understand. Are you sure that’s what you saw?”
You take a hesitant step forward, instinctively reaching to tap his shoulder. But before you can, his next words slice through the air like a blade.
A breath. A pause. A silence so heavy it feels like a single moment would shatter it.
“What do you mean you found a picture of her with a knife through it?”

would Alastor have sex with a girl on her period? I feel like he’d like it cuz the blood but I wanted to ask the expert ❤️❤️
EXPERT?! Look what you did!
Hazel imagines….
Alastor would see your fidgeting, the way you crossed your legs and squirmed in your seat while listening to people talk around you.
He’d catch you in the hall, twirling his microphone staff, “Why the pout?”
You’d frown, “It’s personal, Alastor.”
“Ah so it’s related to your menstruation.” He said it too casually, you stopped so quickly he nearly fell forward when he stopped too. Alastor read your face, “Smell, dear. I’ve got quite an impressive nose.”
Mortified, “Everyone can smell me?”
He shrugged leaning against his staff, “Who knows? I didn’t care to ask.”
Your eyes looked to the left and down, “That almost makes it worse.”
“As much as I love guessing games,” his eyeroll said he did not in fact love guessing games, “care to clue me in to what we’re talking about?”
“It’s per-,” you couldn’t finish.
“A broken record is no fun, darling.” He closed the distance between you, “I can smell many things. So why not be forthright with it, hmm?” His head cocked to the side, a flash of his threatening radio dial eyes beaming down at you.
“My partner wont touch me, but I’m when I’m on my period I get so -,”
“Aroused.”
His blunt reply with that high toned accent was a punch to your gut, “Yeah. I already feel like shit and they wont even let me in bed with them.” Your chin quivered, emotions sensitive.
Alastor lifted your downcast face with the rounded back of his microphone, tutting, “Has the hotel run out of towels?”
You shook your head, confused.
“No more hot water?”
Another shake.
“Well I don’t see the problem then.” His face leaned down, back curving to lower to your much shorter height, “I’ve never shied away from getting a little bloody.”

I think if he was down to fuck for whatever reasons he had, the embarrassment reader had of their period would just enhance his enjoyment. If they weren’t embarrassed, he’d still not be offended by the sight and smell of blood, quite nostalgic if nothing else. 👀

「 ᝰ.ᐟ entry 05: ARE YOU BLUSHING? ⭑.ᐟ 」

“what's wrong with you, man?” heizou sat beside him and slung an arm around scaramouche’s shoulder. “you messaged me out of nowhere. you good?” he asked.
“tch, it’s nothing serious. i just don’t have anyone to talk to about this, and unfortunately for me, you’re the only one who will understand,” the indigo-haired one scowled.
“it’s about [name], isn’t it?” he smirked. he had a hunch about what scaramouche would talk about, and he was 99.9% sure that it was about [name].
“WHA- HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT?!” he shouted. caught red-handed, huh? heizou isn’t called the “best detective of teyvat university” for nothing.
“HAH, i knew it! what about her, hmm? did you finally reveal yourself to her?” heizou wiggled his brows.
“as if! i-it’s more about kumi, actually.”
“did you just fucking stutter? what the heck?”
“SHUT UP!”
“me and kumi are having a collab stream,” he muttered.
“what? i didn’t quite get that,” heizou leaned closer to the male.
“i said we’re having a collab stream, moron,” he spat.
“SERIOUSLY?! that’s great, ma— WAIT, ARE YOU BLUSHING RIGHT NOW?!”
“GET OUT OF MY FACE, SHIKANOIN HEIZOU!”
“HAHAHA, YOU REALLY ARE BLUSHING! THIS IS AMAZING!”
“say goodbye to your family and friends because you're not getting out of this dorm alive.”
“SCARA WAIT-”

synopsis:
IN WHICH—you, although faceless, are a very famous streamer known as KUMI. you were streaming as usual, playing games and interacting with fans. but when you're about to exit the stream, you accidentally pressed the wrong button that led to you opening your cam and showing your whole face to your audience. this wasn't supposed to happen, no ! so you panicked and quickly ended the stream. numerous screenshots circulated on twitter, which broke both the fans and the internet. this reached a certain someone, SCARAMOUCHE, your rival in streaming. when the said boy saw the trending photo, he almost fell off his gaming chair. because—lo and behold! KUMI was actually [name]?! now who is this [name] in his life, if you may ask? she's the girl that scaramouche has been admiring from afar in real life! quite shocking, right? have i told you that he’s also been sending you anonymous love letters? oh well...

Got nothing to say other than… enjoy<3
Warnings: some juicy content and flirty comments, swearing
Lloyd POV:
When I woke up, Y/n was already looking at me as I groggily opened my eyes. I smiled and kissed her forehead, making her smiled back and cuddle into me more.
I inspected her face and noticed smudged mascara and messy eyeshadow. It seemed like she hadn’t taken her make up of the evening before, yet she still looked beautiful, especially with the morning light peeking through the curtains, shining on her beautiful hair.
“I think you forgot something, yesterday,” I pointed out to her, attempting to try and wipe away some of the mascara with my thumb but it didn’t do much good.
“Mhmm, I know,” she groaned and went to lay on her back. “My head hurts,” she whined and I chuckled before kissing her cheek and getting up.
“Stay in bed, I’ll grab you some breakfast and painkillers,” I promised and she just smiled at me from the bed, with tired eyes before closing them again to block out the light.
I headed downstairs and found Y/n’s mom there, seemingly preparing some fruit in a small colourful bowl, I guessed it was for Ace who I spotted in the living room watching tv.
“Oh, Lloyd,” she seemed a bit surprised. “Good morning to you,” she smiled warmly at me.
“Morning,” I greeted with a smile. “Y/n’s not feeling to well, I’m grabbing her some quick breakfast and some painkillers,” he explained calmly and she shook her head.
“That’s what happens after those parties, hm?” She sighed. “That girl is just like her brother,” she stated before taking the bowl of fruit on the counter. “I’ll go give this to Ace, tell my daughter that hang over or not, it’s a school day and she’s going, she knows our agreement,” and like that she left the kitchen.
I opened the fridge door before halting suddenly. Brother? Did she just say brother? There couldn’t be any way she was talking about Ace if it was about hangovers and alcohol, right?
She never mentioned another brother, maybe I was just imagining things and I didn’t understand her right. I’ll ask Y/n.
I made a quick breakfast with toast and some orange juice. I entered her room and gave her the food which she happily ate, thanking me in between bites.
“Say, love,” she hummed in acknowledgment and I continued. “Do you have another brother? Your mom mentioned something just now,” I wondered and she just nodded.
“Yeah, Oliver, he’s my older brother, he studies in Nom, why?” She told casually, taking a quick sip of her drink as she looked at me expectantly.
“Your mom mentioned it,” I shrugged. “I never knew you had another brother,” I looked at her and she seemed to think.
“Don’t think I’ve ever mentioned him no,” she admitted. “He’s not important anyway,” she grinned down at her food after having made a jab at her brother who wasn’t even there, making me chuckle lightly.
“You should hurry, school starts in thirty minutes, and you’re still in your pyjama’s,” I pointed out and she almost choked on her food. She quickly ate before hurrying to the bathroom and taking a quick shower.
Whilst she showered, I grabbed some my clothes she still had in her house and put them on before laying down on her bed and grabbing my phone.
She walked back into the room after ten minutes, fully dressed and light make up on her face. I glanced up and she was hurriedly putting on some jewellery.
When she was done I got up from the bed and she grabbed her backpack.
“C’mon, I’ll give you a ride,” I told her and she smiled at me and grabbed my hand. I followed her downstairs and just managed to grab my coat as she dragged me out the door and called out a goodbye to her mom who was now in the living room.
Your pov:
It was silent in the car ride, not for a specific reason. It was comfortable silence, the radio sounded in the back and I’d made myself comfortable in my seat for the twenty minute drive.
Lloyd focused on the road while I typed away at my phone, I enjoyed our little quiet moments like this so now and then.

I left the conversation when they started making elaborate plans to kidnap Millie from her work and looked at Lloyd.
“Do you have patrol tonight?” I asked, breaking the silence we had going on.
“No, why?” He looked over at me curiously and I shrugged.
“Me and my friends are hanging out, they were wondering if you wanted to join,” I smiled over at him and he softly nodded.
“Only if you want me to aswel,” he caught my eyes making me give him a look.
“Baby, if I didn’t want you to come, I wouldn’t be asking,” I pointed out to him, causing him to chuckle lowly.
“Then I’ll be there,” he promised.
When we had arrived, I’d kissed Lloyd goodbye and left the car to quickly hurry inside, if I ran, I might make it in time to my English class.
I quickly shot a text to Flora to let her know I was on my way and a minute later I reached my classroom, being just in time as my teacher was about to close the door.
She gave me a pointed look, but made no further comment.
Flora was giggling when I came to sit next to her and I quickly shot her a look, but it didn’t help anything as she just continued giggling into her hand anyway.
“So, is Lloyd coming tonight?” Luna asked as the lot of us sat in the cafeteria, eating the soggy pizza they had to offer.
Millie and James snickered, causing Charlie to catch on and snicker aswel. Arthur hit the back of Jamie’s head and scolded all of them.
“You are such children, honestly, one single comment and you’re a giggling mess,” he shook his head I disappointment, causing me and Luna to share a look of amusement.
“Yeah, yeah, alright, mom,” Charlie shot, at him, causing everyone to chuckle again.
“Honestly Anthony, you don’t need to act like you don’t make these jokes like- everyday,” Millie accused, but was surprised by everyone looking up in confusion before quickly grinning.
“Ohh! Twin miss!” I called out excitedly. “That’s one dollar for the pot,”
“No!” Millie cursed but grabbed her phone to ad one dollar to our shared online piggy bank anyway. “That’s not happened to me in ages,” she grumbled in annoyance.
“Yeah, it was always Flora, seeing she was new and all,” Anthony snickered.
“Fuck off, all of you always lured me into it, that’s so unfair,” she shook her head in disapproval. “Remember when you changed shirts one time to confuse me and lure me in? That was just unfair,” she crossed her arms looking the other way.
Charlie went to put his arms around her and kissed her temple, mumbling something only the other side of the table could her properly and she pouted at him.
“I never got an answer to my question,” Luna looked at me next tot her and I remembered what she’d asked me a few moments ago.
“Oh, yeah he said he’ll come,” I smiled excitedly.
I noticed Millie purse her lips and exchange a look with James, causing Arthur to call them out again.
I scoffed, stupid idiots.
It felt forever until the day was over, but finally, after what felt like an eternity, I walked towards the school gates with Charlie and Jamie who were also done for the day. The others all still had an hour or two to go.
Lloyd was already waiting for me, leaning against his car, his face brightened when he saw me. I quickly confirmed the times for the coming night with my friends before running of to greet him.
“Hm, what’s a pretty girl like you doing around here,” he greeted with a lobsided grin.
“Off to greet my prettyboy boyfriend,” I winked before kissing his cheek.
He quickly dipped down to plant a kiss on my lips before moving to get into the car.
“How was school?” He asked on our way to my house and I just let out a long groan. “Got it,” he grinned at me, causing me to sent him a pout.
———
The door was flung open before I could even knock, making me jump slightly. Lloyd just gave me an amused look, he’d heard her coming.
Amelia -who was lucky to get of early from work- looked at us with wide eyes before turning to Lloyd.
“Make haste, make haste,” she pulled him inside, making him shoot me a baffled, shocked look. “The boys are getting make-overs and you are absolutely joining,” she stated, Lloyd send me a look that screamed help and I just grinned.
“You are on your own,” I winked, I quickly discarded my jacket on the coat rack before following the two upstairs to the attic.
When I got up, I found the normal light being on instead of our usual colourful led lights, meaning this was some serious business.
I snorted when I found Luna and Flora doing Jamie’s and Charlie’s makeup. The twins where both laughing but quickly shut up when Luna threatened that they where next.
Lloyd gave me a gobsmacked look as Amelia pushed him on the couch and wandered of to grab me.
“Say, N/n,” she put an arm around me. “Who are you giving a make over today?” She asked me.
“Depends, who are our candidates?” I asked with an amused look, Millie gave me a triumph smile and looked at the twins.
Arthur immediately tried to scramble off but she grabbed his arm.
“We have our dear Arthur, we’d have to get rid of the lil beard he has going on here, of course, but I’d say some winged liner, a bit of glitter and some beautiful red lips, with of course, some concealer,” she pointed all over his face while he just stood next to her, looking quite defeated.
“Then, our good friends Tony, I’d say a complete full face of make up, foundation, highlighter, beautiful eyeshadow, fake lashes, lipstick, the whole enchilada,” she held his face between her hands while he tried prying her off.
“And then, last but not least, your dearest boyfriend, Lloyd. Now, let’s see, I’m saying some clean girl make up, you know, just some light make up, maybe some clear lip gloss, I bet you’d know just what to do,” she sent me a look and I grinned.
“I’ll take it,” I winked at my confused looking boyfriend. “Come, come,” I walked over with extended hands and he took them.
I lead him to the corner the other makeup artists where sitting, the best light was over there after all.
“Oh, Ant,” I heard Millie call in a sing song voice. Followed by some frightened yelping from Anthony who also joined us in the corner.
I watched as Luna was taking pictures of James who’s make up was not quite done, but he already looked fantastic.
“Let’s see,” I used my hand to hold Lloyd’s jaw and turned his head from side to side.
His confused look, was taken over by an amused one. Without much struggle, he let me put on the makeup. I had some complaints about tickling and cold products but I’d quickly shut him up each time.
“Wow, James, you’ve never looked better,” Millie snorted from her place on the ground, letting go of Anthony’s forehead, which she’d been slightly pushing back to do his lashes.
James was posing, with his makeup, hitting a different pose each second.
“Wait, look here,” Luna said and when he did, she snapped a 0.5 picture of him. She laughed when she opened it and showed it to all of us.
“Who is this diva!?” I called, everyone laughed, even Arthur, who was quickly threatened that he was next.
“We’ll do his with the lot of us,” Luna decided. “He’ll get the extra attention- Flores! You’re supposed to be doing Charles his make up, not doing him!” She called, causing the kiss the couple had been in to break up immediately.
“Luna!” Charlie scolded with red cheeks.
I chuckled and shook my head as I continued Lloyd’s makeup, hearing in the bickering in the background.
Out of habit of doing the girls’ makeup, I pouted my lips to Lloyd, letting him know I would be grabbing the lipgloss.
He grinned and quickly leaned forward to peck my lips making me give him a warning glance. He winked at me and before I could comment, Luna attacked us too.
“Nooo, not you guys too,” she whined angrily.
“Wha- he kissed me!” I accused and he sent me a betrayed look.
“Lloyd, stop kissing your girlfriend,” Luna ordered and he let out an offended noice. “I don’t want to hear any complaints, especially not from the ginger,”
“Hey!” Charles called out offended, and the bickering started again.
I chuckled before gently tilting Lloyd’s head up by putting two fingers on his chin. I applied the lipgloss and he sat perfectly still as I did.
“Alright, eyeliner time,” I pulled out the pencil and Lloyd looked at it before averting his gaze over to me.
“Do not poke my eyes out please,” he requested and I chuckled.
“I promise,” I chuckled before shuffling forward a bit. I wasn’t really on a good spot and was wondering in how I was gonna do this when I had an idea.
I crawled into Lloyd’s lap without any warning. He seemed shocked for a moment before just accepting it. I hooked my legs around his torso and now I had a good angle.
I did my best to hide the shiver that went up my spine when he rested his hands on my thighs, but because of his chuckle, I suppose he noticed.
“Alright, close your eyes, love,” I said and he did just that. Carefully I started drawing winged liner on his eyelid before going over to the next. “Mhm, open your eyes?” He did as I requested and I grumbled when I noticed it was just a tiny bit uneven.
After another try, it looked perfect and I climbed of his lap. Flora had finished with Charlie only moments before and was already taking pictures.
I pulled out my phone aswel and he just softly smiled as I snapped the pics.
“Now only Ant and then it’s your turn,” Luna looked over at Arthur who pouted and she just stuck out her tongue.
Anthony’s makeup was the most colourful, but he was also the only one with eyeshadow after all. Or well, Charlie had some, but it was brown.
Our gazes fixed on Arthur who just sighed in defeat before deciding to just let it happen. Luna was to one to shave away his beard, he put up a sad look as she did, but laughed non the less.
It’s was that only the four of us girls working all together to make him look fabulous.
After about twenty minutes we were done and we finally allowed him to look in the mirror.
“Somewhere I’d expected you all to make me look horrible, but it’s not bad,” he admitted, making us cheer lightly.
“Can we get it off now? It is quite uncomfortable,” Charlie had already been wiping at his makeup earlier, so we just decided to have mercy.
While the boys where in the bathroom getting the make up off with Luna’s remover, us girls where upstairs all having cracked open a beer.
“So, Millie,” I looked over at her with a grin. “How was the party yesterday?” I asked.
She blushed before going into an explanation over the night she had with her crush.
“She definitely likes you,” Luna nodded, taking a swing of her beer. “Like come on, laughing at some of those stupid jokes? It’s obvious at this point,” she shrugged.
“No it’s not,” Millie cried out. “I don’t even know if she’s gay,” she crossed her arms.
The two other girls and I exchanged looks before sighing.
“Mills she is so obviously gay,”
“How is that even a question anymore?”
“Amelia, she had a lesbian pin on her bag,”
“Yeah- so!?” She called out. “Doesn’t tell me nothing,”
I groaned into my hands while the other two just gave up aswel.
James:
I was the first one done with taking the makeup off and was now just waiting for all the others to also be clean again so we could join the girls back up at the attic.
I looked up when I heard the notification of a phone and saw Lloyd picking his up. I looked over his shoulder as he typed in the passcode.
It was Y/n’s birthday, of course it was. Well, only easier for me to remember. I quickly shot Luna a text.

):
See, maybe remembering someone’s password to their phone is a bit weird, but me and Luna had an idea.
We love Y/n, but we also love to bully her a bit here and there.
Your pov
The boys didn’t take long and soon enough we were all listening to Luna ranting about an annoying customer she had to deal with earlier that week.
I was sat next to Lloyd for the most of the time, but at one point I’d stood up to grab myself a drink on the other side of the room.
My phone buzzed in my pocket and I took it out as I turned to walk back with my can of icedtea in hand, I frowned when I saw Lloyd’s contact name on my screen and quickly opened the message.
Blondie🫶
I bet you’d look adorable while grasping at the sheets of my bed ;)
My breath got stuck in my throat and I stopped my walking for a second. My cheeks grew warm and I shot a look over at Lloyd who was also looking at me. An innocent, confused look was visible on his face and I quickly bit my lip and slid my phone back into me pocket.
“You good, N/n?” Luna, who’d noticed my pause, called out.
“Yeah,” I just managed to squeak out before I walked back to take my seat again. I completely missed the grinning look exchanged between Luna and James.
I sat next to Lloyd who just kissed the top of my head and shot me another confused look.
God this man was in trouble.
Lloyd pov:
I looked up when I noticed Y/n’s heartbeat quicken and she suddenly stopped mid walk. She met my gaze, her cheeks red and face flustered, I looked back, a bit confused.
When she obviously lied after Luna asked if she was alright, I’d just decided to ask when we were in the car back to the momentary.
The remaining of the night was fun. I did not get any calls from the team needing help and Y/n’s friends where funny as always and completely accepting of me.
It all went smoothly and soon enough, I noticed my beautiful girlfriend getting tired and suggested to get back home, causing her to nod in agreement.
We bid everyone goodbye and Arthur walked with us to the front door. When we were about to leave, Luna came running downstairs.
“Lloyd, wait!” She called and I turned around. “Your phone, you left it on the couch,” she told me and I smiled.
“Oh shit, thanks,” I took it from her and then we left.
Your pov:
After sneaking trough the monastery as silently as we could, we brushed our teeth and headed to Lloyd’s room to get ready for bed.
I held his hand as he led me trough the hallway and trough the door to his room.
It was only then that I remembered that he needed some absolute scolding.
“Lloyd,” I started and he turned around with a hum. Just looking at his face already made me absolutely flustered when I thought back to the text.
Just thinking about it made my imagination go in all sorts of directions and I found myself unable to form any words. Did he have any idea what he did to me.
“Are you alright, love?” He asked amused, taking a step closer to put his hands on my cheeks, making my look up at him.
He smiled but I gave him a scolding look back, causing him to frown.
“What did I do?” He asked and just the face he pulled made me ready to forgive him for his absolute sin.
“Oh come on,” I rolled my eyes. “Do you really have to ask that? You know what you did,” I accused but he just gave me a confuse look back.
“No?” He seemed to replay the entire night trough his head but just shook it in the end. “What are you talking about?”
“Lloyd!” I scolded. “I love you, but come on, do you really love to embarrass me like that?” I asked but he just looked absolutely lost.
“I’m sorry?” He tried, which just caused my face to turn serious. “Sweetheart, I really do not know what I did, I’m sorry,” he said again and I just scrunched my nose.
“The text, Lloyd,” I clarified. “I’m talking about the text you send me,”
“I didn’t send you anything,” he insisted. “What do you think I send you?” He asked and I faltered.
I grabbed my phone to look at it but it was clearly him who sent it to me-
Luna.
The little witch.
Forgot his phone my ass.
“Nothing,” I quickly said and put the phone back in my pocket. “Nevermind,” I turned around, causing his hands to fall from my cheeks, but he quickly came to stand in front of me again.
“What happened?” He asked, now being utterly lost. I didn’t blame him, this was all quite confusing.
“No it’s nothing,” I insisted. “Just- just forget it,” I stuttered and tried to avoid his eyes but he gently grabbed me jaw and turned me to look at him.
My eyes just turned the other way and he sighed. “Darling, can you look at me?” He requested and I lost my breath. “Hm?”
I looked up at him with red cheeks and he smiled. “It’s nothing,” I stated.
“Y/n,” he said my name, I pulled myself back to planet earth and gave him a more serious look.
“Don’t worry about it,” I smiled before quickly pecking his lips, about to turned away, when,
“A text, you said?” He pulled his phone out of his pocket, I froze. “From me?” He asked and met my flustered gaze.
He chuckled and clicked around a bit in his phone. “Your bbeautiful contact, pinned, of course,” he winked at me, but I couldn’t really find it in myself to respond as I looked at his face.
He seemed to open our chat and read something. He frowned for a second before faltering. His cheeks grew red and his eyes met mine.
“I- I did not send that,” he stammered, the flustered look on his face was slowly fading, but the blush on his cheeks wasn’t.
“I figured,” I said before groaning. “God I’m gonna murder Luna,”
“Of course she did,” Lloyd huffed a laugh before pulling my embarrassed self towards him.
“Where you scared to tell me?” He asked teasingly and I let out an embarrassed grumble against his chest as his arms were wrapped around me. “You don’t have to be embarrassed my love,” I felt the rumble of his chest as he softly laughed.
I just put my arms around him aswel and held him close, my red cheeks slowly becoming their normal colour again and my heart starting to slow down.
He pulled back slightly and we stared each other in the eyes for a second. His hand moved to my chin and he lovingly traced my lips, leaving me in a tired trance.
“I bet it’s true though,” he broke the silence and it didn’t really register.
“Hm?” I hummed in confusion, not really knowing what he meant.
He leaned forward till his lips brushed the shell of my ear. “I bet you’d look adorable,” he whispered.
My heartbeat skyrocketed and my breath hitched. He pulled back with a grin as I just stared at him with wide eyes.
I blinked a few times while he chuckled. “You moron,” I managed to say, causing him to grin before dipping down and catching my lips in a sweet, passionate kiss.
He slowly walked me backwards until I sat down on his bed, caged between his arms.
We broke apart for air and I glared at him slightly. “Fuck you,” I grumbled.
“If you wish,” he whispered back.
———
I awoke with a grumble, I turned to give my dearest ninja boyfriend a kiss, only to be met with an empty bed.
My eyebrows knotted together, slightly upset at him being gone. Sure it’s fine if he gets up before me, but I’d appreciate if he was there in the morning after a night like that.
I went to grab my phone, hoping to find a message from him, when I spotted a note.
Out on a mission, back in the early afternoon, love you♡
-Lloyd
A small smile formed on my face. Alright, fine, good excuse. I threw the covers off of myself and opened the drawer Lloyd had emptied for my clothes.
I grabbed some trousers, socks and than snatched my bra of the ground. I stole one of Lloyd’s green hoodies and then headed downstairs to the kitchen.
When I entered I found Zane searching trough a cabinet.
“Good morning, Y/n” he greeted, not even looking back.
“Morning, Zane,” I smiled before lightly frowning. “What are you doing?” I asked, watching him go trough the cabinet.
“I am searching for our last chocolate chips, he said, looking rather sour. “I am afraid that Jay- oh, nevermind,” he pulled a bag full of dark chocolate chips out of the cabinet. “I am baking cookies, if you want, you may assist me,” he smiled at me.
“I’d love to!” I beamed before my stomach grumbled. “After some breakfast,” I smiled sheepishly. He chuckled, and put the bag down before asking what I’d like.
After Zane’s insistence on making me breakfast, he’d prepared some noodles that I quickly ate. His cooking was to die for, if I could, I’d eat here every night.
“Alright, first we wash our hands,” Zane started. He’d given me an apron, just like last time we baked cookies together.
“Zane, I know how to bake cookies,” I laughed, putting soap in my hands to wash them.
He was about to respond when he stopped. “Oh,” he said before composing himself. “Yes, I’ll be on my way,”
I frowned at the nindroid in confusion. “What’s happening?” I asked, a bit lost at what was going on.
“Pixal says that Lloyd, Cole and Kai need my help,” he told me and I smiled sadly.
“Well go on, I’ll make the cookies, than you lot have something to eat when you come back,” I promised. He smiled back at me and nodded, before bidding me goodbye and hurrying out of the room.
I started on making the cookies, everything I needed was in the table and I’d just decided to use my mom’s recipe, seeing that I knew it by heart.
I weighed out my ingredients before throwing my eggs, milk and sugar into the bowl and starting to whisk.
While I was at it, the door had opened behind me and Koko walked in.
“Oh, Y/n!” She said happily. “I didn’t know you where here, the others are out,” she told me and I smiled at her.
“Yeah I stayed the night, Zane was here when I woke up but had to leave before we could start on our cookies,” I gestured.
“Ah, I see,” she said with a smile, dropping her bag in the kitchen and started to empty it by putting some things in their place. “I was out doing groceries before it could get too busy in the afternoon,” she told me. “Somehow Saturday is always the busiest day for everyone ti get their groceries,” she shook her head in annoyance causing me to chuckle.
“Do you need a hand?” I asked her and she just shot me a quick smile.
“No, I’m alright dear, you continue on the cookies, the team shall be hungry when you get back, Nya and Jay would be lucky if there still is some when they get back from their date,” she chuckled and I followed, covering my mouth with a hand.
The first batch was in the oven and I was rolling the remaining of the dough into balls when the door opened. I looked back to find Kai, Cole, Zane and Lloyd entering the kitchen, all absolutely exhausted.
“How bad was it?” I asked them, turning back to the dough.
“It’s not that the fight was to bad, but it was raining buckets,” Kai complained, I glanced back to see his hair flat and sticking to his forehead, causing me to laugh.
I shook my head, putting my small ball of cookie-dough on the plate. Suddenly two hands snaked around my waist and a pair of cold lips kissed my cheek.
“Lloyd, you are drenched!” I struggled out of his hold and he chuckled.
“Sorry, love,” he kissed my cheek again and then turned to the bowl on the counter, reaching out his hand.
I slapped it away and gave him a scolding look. “Don’t touch it with your dirty, sweaty, glove hands,” I warned. “You lot go shower and change, the cookies will be done when you get back here,” I told them and Lloyd grumbled but complied.
“Y/n, your hair is down,” I frowned and turned to Zane in confusion. “When one bakes or cooks, they put their hair up, so no hair gets into the food,” I said matter of factly and I shrugged.
“I always bake with my hair down, unless I’m at work,” I stated but he just kept looking at me in expectation. “Fine,” I grumbled and gathered my hair to put it into a bun.
Next to me, I heard a panicked noise from Lloyd before he gulped. I shot him with a strange look, but he just looked the other way with red cheeks.
Behind me, there was laughter and I turned around to see Kai and Jay both laughing, while Zane just smirked.
I gave Lloyd a questioning look, causing him to point at his neck and only then did I realise what was going on.
“Go shower,” I yelled at the others who laughed as they left the room. I looked over at Lloyd who nervously chuckled.
“Oops?” He tried causing me to roll my eyes, opening my mouth to tell him off, before I realised something, causing my hand to clasp over my mouth in horror.
“I talked to your mom this morning,” I revealed. He gave me a strange look, before realisation washed over his face. “She didn’t say anything about it- maybe she didn’t see,” I tried.
“Sweetheart, it’s my mom, she definitely noticed,” he said concerned before pursing his lips. “I think I’m gonna get the talk all over again,”
“I’m sorry,” I apologised with a small pout and he chuckled and took a step forward to kiss my lips, his wet hair leaving drops on my face.
“It’s alright,” he muttered before smirking, putting his lips next to my ear. “It was worth it, cause in the end, you did look adorable,” he whispered into my ear before kissing my temple and leaving the kitchen.
I shook my head and continued my work in a flustered state. Whatever, he was probably being teased by the boys right now anyway.
Lloyd pov:
The moment I walked into the hallway to my room, I heard clapping. I looked up unamused, Kai was clapping and Cole did the same while chucking , Zane just stood there while leaning against the wall, looking amused.
“Yeah, yeah, just let me have it so I can shower,” I glared at them.
“So, lover boy, how was it?” Kai wiggled his eyebrows at me and I rolled my eyes.
“You know, hickeys don’t immediately indicate-” but Cole cut me off.
“Yeah, we’re not dumb, Lloyd,” he grinned at me and I just pursed my lips while looking at the ground.
“It was fine,” I mumbled. Obviously it was more than fine, but right now I was just embarrassed.
“Our little ninja is growing up,” Kai wiped fake tears. “Sooo, yesterday, first time,” he bumped my arm with his elbow causing my blush to deepen and I didn’t know how to break the news.
“Well- not exactly,” I sheepishly said, catching them all off guard. “Yesterday was just one thing that lead to another, first time was at the start of this week,” I admitted.
“Oh, so now you have two things to tell us?” Cole teased and I rolled my eyes.
“I don’t have to tell you anything,” I shot at him, slightly irritated. Somewhere in me it felt like an invasion of her privacy.
“Wow, no need to be angry,” Kai chuckled. “You don’t have to share details,” he poked my head.
I didn’t answer him and then moved to head into my room.
“Damn, two times a week, brother?” Kai suddenly said, making me look over at him in annoyance.
“Now that you say it, yeah, two times a week?” Cole agreed. “But if you think about it, two horny teenagers, just learning about-” I punched his shoulder and he winced while laughing. “Sorry, sorry,”
“Technically, yesterday was her friends’ fault,” I murmured, opening my door, but they just saw it as an invitation and followed me right in.
“How could it be her friends’ fault?” Zane finally spoke up and he seemed confused with himself why he was even asking.
“I- Luna sent her a text from my phone,” is all I said before turning away and tossing my mask on the bed. “Now get out of my room,” I crossed my arms and gave them a stern look but only Zane followed my order, probably having lost his interest by now.
He did sent me a smirk and a wink on his way out, which caused me to huff and look the other way.
“What’d she text say?” Kai asked amused. “Cause it can’t have just been a random text,”
“Nothing- get out!” I pointed at the door annoyed but they just exchanged glances and didn’t move an inch.
“Was it flirty?” Cole asked amused by my effort to get them out of my room. “Maybe more forward than you are,” he teased, making me scoff in annoyance.
“Come on, just show us the text, it can’t be too bad,” Kai pushed and I sighed.
“If I show you, will you just get out of my room already?” I asked and they a hanged glances before nodding. “Fine,” I grumbled and grabbed my phone before opening my chat with Y/n and showing them the screen.
Both their mouths hung open as they saw what was written.
“That was send when you where with all her friends?” Cole asked me bewildered, I nodded and took the phone away again.
“Was she mad?” Kai asked with a grin.
“Yes, obviously, now get out,” I held the door open for them and they finally left.
“Yeah, yeah, fine, go shower loverboy,” Kai called, making Cole laugh again. I just slammed my door shut quickly, my face feeling hot as I started taking off my wet gi.
(Meanwhile Y/n realising that the last time she baked with Zane she also had her hair loose and he didn’t say a thing: “that little bastard-”)

In the depths of your slumber, you were awakened by a peculiar odor that permeated the air. The pungent scent, a mix of decay and exhaust fumes, seemed to engulf your senses as you slowly opened your eyes.
Confused and disoriented, you realized that you were lying in your own bed, yet something felt amiss. The realization that the smell was not a dream but rather a reality sent a shiver down your spine.
As you gazed around, the familiarity of your surroundings slowly dawned on you. The walls adorned with familiar artwork, the dresser that held your personal belongings, and the soft glow of the alarm clock on your nightstand all seemed to indicate that you were indeed in your bedroom.
However, the unsettling presence of the pollution-induced scent remained a constant reminder of the unsettling reality that awaited you outside.
"What's that smell?" you wondered, realizing that this was not the first time you had encountered this odor.
As you pushed yourself out of bed and made your way towards the door, a feeling of trepidation washed over you. With each step, the scent grew stronger, confirming that it was not just a figment of your imagination.
The ship, once bustling with activity and filled with the lively chatter of fellow crewmates, was now eerily silent and devoid of any signs of life. The absence of footsteps and the absence of human voices only added to the sense of foreboding that had been building within you.
It was as if a ghostly presence had swept through, leaving behind only the haunting scent of decay and emptiness.
You hesitantly turned the doorknob, and as the door swung open, your eyes were met with a shocking sight.
In front of you was an island full of smoke, pollution, and death. The once vibrant landscape now lay in ruins, with barren trees and toxic air. The sky was an ominous shade of gray, obscured by a thick layer of smog that choked the life out of everything it touched.
It was also the same country that destroyed yours, leaving a trail of devastation and irreversible damage to the environment.
As you took in the apocalyptic scene before you, you couldn't help but wonder what the crew were thinking, bringing you to this desolate wasteland.
"Hello again, Y/N," a voice said beside you, but before you could see who it was, you felt your consciousness slip away.
As your vision faded, you couldn't help but feel a mix of confusion and fear. The voice that spoke to you was unmistakably familiar, but it belonged to someone who shouldn't have been there - someone who had been pronounced dead years ago. . . .

"Hey guys! Do you think Y/N is still sleeping?" Luffy questioned, remembering the sleepy face you had before you passed out on your bed.
"Knowing her, she probably woke up as soon as we left," Nami chipped in, letting out a silent sigh.
"What do you mean by that?"
Nami said, concern evident in her voice. "She's been sneaking out at night these days. I don't know where she goes or what she does, but it's been happening for a while now."
"I don't know, but it's definitely strange," Luffy replied, his brow furrowing with worry.
After what felt like hours, they made it back to the ship, exhausted and disheartened by the sight of the desolate wasteland they had encountered.
Luffy ran straight to your room, hoping to find you there and put his worries to rest. However, as he opened the door, he was met with an empty room, devoid of any signs of you. The realization hit him like a punch to the gut, and a sinking feeling of dread washed over him.
"Guys, have you seen Y/N?" Luffy yelled to anyone in particular, his voice filled with urgency and concern.
"No," he heard Nami say from the upper deck. "I haven't seen her since we left the island. I thought she was still sleeping in her room."
"Luffy! Luffy!" Chopper yelled as he ran towards Luffy from his doctor's room. "I found something strange in my room. It looks like a note."
He took the paper and read it, his eyes scanning the words hastily. The note revealed a cryptic message, written in your handwriting, that sent shivers down his spine. It read, "Don't follow me.'"
Luffy's heart sank as he read the note. He placed his straw hat on his head, the weight of worry settling upon him. Without a moment's hesitation, he declared, "I'm going after her."
"Wait Luffy, you can't go alone," Nami said, leaning against the railing. "We have no idea what you might be walking into. Let's gather the crew and come up with a plan together."
"No, this is for me to do alone. I promised her that I would protect her and now this happened," Luffy said, his voice filled with determination. "I won't let her face whatever danger she's in on her own. I'll find her and bring her back safely, no matter what."
Nami sighed, "At least take this," Nami threw a paper which looked ripped, it was a Vivre card, a special type of paper that can lead someone to a specific person.
"It's Y/N's Vivre card. It'll guide you to her no matter where she is. Just promise me you'll be careful, Luffy."
"How do you have it?"
"I may have been cautious about her at first but she's grown on me, she reminds me of me when I was younger," Nami said, "Just bring her back," she added.
Luffy took it with a determined expression, his mind set on finding you and ensuring your safety. "I will, Nami. I promise," he replied, his voice filled with unwavering resolve.
With a burst of energy, Luffy leaped off the ship and dashed into the dense forest, his rubbery limbs propelling him forward. The leaves rustled under his feet as he followed the pull of the Vivre card, his determination fueling his every step.
Nothing would stop him from finding you and bringing you back safely; he would traverse any obstacle in his path to fulfill his promise. . . .

"Wake up little girl!" A voice shouted.
You jolted awake, gasping for air as the cold water soaked through your clothes. Blinking away the disorientation, you found yourself surrounded by darkness. Panicking, you realized that you were trapped in a small, damp cell with no way out.
Fear gripped your heart as you wondered who had brought you here and what they wanted from you.
Laughter filled the room, echoing off the cold stone walls, sending shivers down your spine. The sound was chilling and sinister, making your heart race with terror as you desperately tried to make sense of your situation.
"Looks like the little girl is awake," a male voice said, his tone dripping with malicious glee.
You then felt your chin being grabbed and pulled, forcing you to look up into the eyes of a sinister figure. The dim light revealed a twisted smile on his face, revealing his sadistic intentions.
The thing that terrified you the most was that the man was missing an eye, but not like Zoro's. Half of his face was ruined, scarred and disfigured, giving him a grotesque appearance that sent shivers down your spine.
It was clear that this man was capable of unspeakable horrors, and you couldn't help but fear for your life in his presence.
"We know where you're from," he started, his voice rough and menacing as he moved his hand around your face, tracing the features he described. "Bluish-dark curly hair, mole beside right ear, and sun-kissed skin," he continued, a sinister smile playing on his lips.
"We destroyed your country around 2 weeks ago, thinking we killed everyone, then we got intel that one survived," he whispered, his voice filled with sadistic pleasure. "And now, my dear, we found you. Don't worry, we have big plans for you. You will pay for not dying with the others."
As the man's cruel words sank in, tears started to fall without your command. Each tear was a testament to the fear and anguish that filled your heart. You tried to suppress your sobs, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing your vulnerability.
But the tears continued to flow, a silent protest against the injustice of your situation.
Once again, your tears betrayed you, refusing to be controlled. They continued to flow, silently defying your will as they bore witness to the overwhelming despair that consumed you in this moment of unimaginable terror.
It reminded you of when you were with Luffy yesterday.
Luffy. You're sorry I was only able to leave a small note but you hoped he would listen to you and leave you here. They are nothing to what you have defeated.
The laughter continued, "Do you see that! She's crying! Good, Good! You should be terrified of us!"
As the man revealed your tears, another ice bucket was poured on top of you, sending a shock of coldness through your body. The chilling sensation only intensified your fear and made it harder to control your trembling.
You desperately searched for an escape route, but the sinister figure's grip on your chin tightened, leaving you feeling trapped and helpless in the face of the horrors that awaited you.
"How does that feel little girl? Wouldn't it feel better if you had died that day instead of living through this?" He taunted.
"Because of you, I got this so if you think that because Boss said to be gentle with you, don't think I'm going to take this easy," He said, pointing at his face.
"Hey! Boss is coming soon!" A voice yelled from behind the voice, the tone made him sound like he was terrified.
Startled, the man let go of your chin, letting it drop down, and reached for a towel as if you were a disease.
"I'm not finished with you just yet," The man said, smirking.
As the man finished his tormenting words, he turned and left with the rest of the guards, leaving you alone in the cold, damp room. The sound of their fading footsteps echoed in the silence, leaving behind an eerie sense of abandonment and the chilling realization that you were truly alone in this nightmare.
You struggled against your restraints, pulling at the ropes until they cut into your flesh. Your body ached, your mind raced with desperate thoughts of escape, but no matter how hard you fought, the bonds held strong.
It was a cruel reminder of the powerlessness you felt, a stark realization that there was no way out of this nightmare. Your heart sank, and tears welled up in your eyes once more, as the weight of your helplessness settled upon you.
Just as despair threatened to consume you, you heard the sound of footsteps growing louder, echoing through the empty corridor.
You heard thuds once in a while, but you dismissed them as servants bowing on their knees to the boss.
Luffy. I'm sorry that I was defeated this easily. I'm not worthy to be part of the future King of the Pirates crew if I'm like this. It wasn't you that I was destined for after all.
"Y/N! There you are!"
The familiar voice made you look up with your remaining strength, and through blurry eyes, you saw your closest friend, Luffy, standing at the entrance of the room.
But you must have been hallucinating, for there was no possible way that Luffy could have found you in this secret, heavily guarded location. The harsh reality sunk in, and you realized that your mind had conjured up an illusion of hope in the midst of your despair.
It was then that warm hands touched your cheeks and you flinched, afraid that they were going to hurt you.
"Y/N, open your eyes."
With trembling hands, you listened to Luffy's voice and slowly opened your eyes, meeting his gaze.
A wave of warmth enveloped you, spreading from your cheeks to the rest of your body. It felt like a gentle embrace, melting away the coldness and fear that had consumed you.
In that moment, you realized that Luffy's presence had a calming effect on you like no one else. His infectious energy and unwavering determination had always managed to lift your spirits and dissolve any worries or anxieties that plagued your mind.
Then and now.
"L-Luffy," you whispered with a hoarse voice, tears welling up in your eyes.
You couldn't find the words to express how grateful you were to have him by your side, but the look in his eyes told you that he understood everything without you having to say a single word.
Luffy smiled brightly before letting go of your cheeks, his eyes filled with a mixture of joy and relief.
"You know you gave us quite a scare when you weren't in your room," Luffy explained as he squatted down to untie the ropes around your wrist.
Even though your hands were finally free, you couldn't bring yourself to move from the seat. The weight of what you had been through still hung heavy on your shoulders, and you found solace in the familiar presence of Luffy by your side.
You then felt a hand slide behind your back and one under your legs, effortlessly lifting you up as if you were weightless.
"W-wait! I'm wet!" you protested, realizing that you were drenched from head to toe.
Luffy chuckled, unfazed by your statement. "Don't worry about it," he replied, his voice filled with reassurance. "We'll dry you off at the ship. Right now, the most important thing is that you're safe."
You kept quiet as Luffy started walking, his strong arms cradling you protectively.
You then remembered that you were in a secured, hidden base full of guards. How did Luffy even manage to find you?
"Luffy, what happened to the guards...." Your question was answered by the unconscious bodies that greeted you as you left the room.
The guards were clearly knocked out, yet there were no bruises or marks on them. It was as if they had simply fallen asleep.
You looked back at Luffy, who seemed to be focused on finding the exit.
The only thing you were thinking about was. . .
He's so strong. You don't deserve him. He's the sun while you're a rock floating in space. You can't get too close and if you do, you'll get hurt. Maybe you should have died with your country.
"Y/N, don't." The sudden statement made you jump as you looked away from Luffy.
"Don't what?" You replied, acting clueless.
"Don't belittle yourself. You were caught off guard and still fought hard."
From the distance, you saw the exit leading out of the base, and you remained quiet, uncertain of how to respond.
Was he a mind reader as well?
As you got closer to the exit, you were able to make out clearly the expression on the face of Luffy.
Worried but yet disappointed.
When you left the base, you covered your eyes, your eyes barely able to adjust to the brightness of the day. How long did you stay in there for?
"Can you let go now?"
There was no change in Luffy's expression, but he did glance at you this time instead of at his surroundings.
"I won't run away, I'm not that stupid."
With no words said, Luffy gently placed you down on the ground but didn't move far away from you.
You wobbled a bit, but you managed to regain your balance by grabbing onto a nearby tree. The rough bark scraped against your palms, grounding you in the present moment.
You looked up to see Luffy looking around, his gaze scanning the surroundings for any potential threats.
"How did you find me?" You asked as you found the strength to keep standing up, still feeling a bit shaky.
He pulled out a paper out of his straw hat, which seemed to be moving towards you. "I followed you with this Vivre Card," he said, a determined look in his eyes.
"Nami gave it to you?" You asked as you looked at the exterior of the base, taking note of its fortified structure and hidden entrances.
Luffy nodded, his gaze focused on the paper in his hand. "Yeah, she said it would lead me straight to you no matter where you went."
You couldn't help but feel slightly grateful for Nami's foresight and resourcefulness in ensuring your safety.
"Why did you write that note?" Luffy asked seriously, his voice filled with concern.
You took a deep breath, gathering your thoughts before responding, "I wrote it because I needed to protect you. I didn't want you to get involved in the danger that surrounds me."
"You know that we're here for you, no matter what it is," Luffy stated. "We're a crew, and we face danger together. Protecting each other is what we do."
"I know," you said, hardly paying attention to him and more to the building.
The only way to ensure that no one comes out of this alive is to make sure everyone dies. There is no other way to deal with the pain they caused you than to put them to death.
"Y/N, look at me," Luffy said, holding your shoulders to face him. "I understand that you're hurt and angry, but taking revenge and causing more pain won't solve anything. We can find another way, together."
"Punch there," you said, pointing to a part that was sticking out of the base.
Without hesitation, Luffy stretched his hands, his rubbery arms extending towards the brick as he prepared to deliver a powerful punch, leading to the destruction of the building.
As Luffy's fist connected with the brick, you noticed a blankness in his gaze, as if there was no spark of consciousness behind his eyes. It sent a chill down your spine, making you question whether this was truly the same Luffy you knew and trusted.
"So why did you just do that?" You confronted him, taking a step forward towards him.
Luffy's eyes widened as he looked at the hand that punched the building with curiosity. As if he didn't control it at all.
"I- I," Luffy couldn't even finish his sentence. This hand has never moved without him telling him to. What did you do to him?
"I- what? How would you understand the pain I've felt because of them. They deserve to die!" You yelled, not caring about the tears that were spilling.
"Y/N..."
"Don't, I thought you understood me but now it seems like we're not the same," You muttered, turning around from him.
"Y/N, listen,"
"No, you listen Luffy, I don't know if you recruited me because you pitied me or because you liked me but I am clearly not built for the life of a pirate."
You hesitated on what you wanted to say last, knowing that if you looked into his eyes, you wouldn't be able to speak anymore.
"I think it's best that we should go our separate ways from now on,"
You thought that he would understand your situation. They killed your family, your friends, everyone in your country. How could you let them live after that?
When you heard no response, you took that as your answer.
As you started to walk away, the forest in front of you began to blur suddenly, and as a result you lost your balance, collapsing to the ground. Your body gave in to exhaustion, and you collapsed onto the ground, the weight of your fatigue overwhelming you.
"Y/N!" you could hear the pain in his voice, as Luffy rushed to your side, his eyes filled with worry. . . . .

You woke up feeling an ache on your neck and you felt tired, not able to remember how you got here. As you tried to stretch and alleviate the discomfort, you realized that your surroundings were unfamiliar. The room was dimly lit, and the air felt stale. Panic started to set in as you struggled to piece together the events of the previous night.
What had happened? How did you end up in this strange place with a nagging pain in your neck?
"Oh! You're awake!" A voice said from the door, its voice was high pitched. You turned towards the sound and saw a small figure, who wasn't even half the height of the door, standing in the doorway, holding a tray of food.
Relieved, you realized that the unfamiliar room was actually the doctor's office. Chopper, your loyal friend, switched on the lights and rushed to your side as soon as he saw you awake.
"I was so worried," he squeaked, his voice filled with concern.
"What happened?" You tried to say, your voice croaky and hoarse as you tried to sit up.
Chopper gently helped you into a more upright position and explained, "You were hit with a kind of poison. The impact caused you to go unconscious immediately, which is why your neck is hurting. Luckily Luffy was there with you."
"Luffy?" You repeated.
That's when your memory came rushing back to you.
"How does that feel little girl? Wouldn't it feel better if you had died that day instead of living through this?" He taunted.
"Because of you, I got this so if you think that because Boss said to be gentle with you, don't think I'm going to take this easy," He said, pointing at his face.
-
"Y/N, listen,"
"No, you listen Luffy, I don't know if you recruited me because you pitied me or because you liked me but I am clearly not built for the life of a pirate."
You hesitated not what you wanted to say last, knowing that if you looked into his eyes, you would be able to speak anymore.
"I think it's best that we should separate from now on,"
-
"No," you muttered into your hands, your voice barely audible.
"You know we were all worried about you when you disappeared," Chopper said, handing you a glass of water.
"We thought we had lost you. But Luffy found you in the building and carried you all the way here after fighting all of the bad guys. It's a good thing he has that incredible strength."
Feeling parched, you took the glass and drank the whole thing immediately, feeling the cool water soothing your dry throat.
As you finished, you looked at Chopper with a renewed sense of gratitude and said, "I'm sorry for getting you guys worried."
"No, it wasn't your fault that you got kidnapped - oh no, Luffy said to not mention that!" Chopper squealed, covering his mouth with his hooves.
"It's okay, I feel better already," You said, trying to prove that you were strong enough to even lift him but you failed without even lifting him up an inch.
"Just focus on resting, Nami will bring your dinner when it's time," Chopper stated, gently trying to extricate himself from your grip. "You've been through a lot, so it's important to take care of yourself and let us take care of you for a change."
You nodded, releasing your hold on Chopper.
Though before he left, you asked him a question, "What time is it Chopper?"
"It's 5PM, why?"
"Oh it's nothing,"
This means that Luffy will be at his favourite spot in one hour so you had time to plan what you were going to say to him.
You knew that a simple apology wouldn't be enough to make it up to Luffy for all the hurtful things you had said. You needed to find a way to show him just how much you truly cared and how sorry you were for your actions.
"No, you listen Luffy, I don't know if you recruited me because you pitied me or because you like me but I am clearly not built for the life of a pirate."
Why did you have to say that? It's not like he would actually like you, you thought to yourself.
Thinking more, you couldn't bear the thought of dragging Luffy down or becoming a burden to the crew, so you believed it was better to distance yourself from him at the time.
Unable to think for much longer, you decided to leave the room and get some fresh air, with the help of a pair of clutches. As you stepped outside, a gentle breeze brushed against your face, helping to clear your mind and calm your racing thoughts.
You wobbled and eventually made your way to the front of the ship, where the Thousand Sunny's head posed majestically against the backdrop of the open sea. The sight filled you with a renewed sense of determination as you took in the vastness of the ocean, reminding yourself that you were part of something greater than yourself.
As your eyes adjusted to the light, you saw a figure sitting on the Thousand Sunny's head. It was Luffy, his back facing you as he stared out into the horizon.
A mix of emotions flooded your heart - nervousness, sadness, but also a glimmer of hope. This was your chance to pour your heart out and make things right with him.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through your leg, causing you to lose your balance and stumble forward.
You managed to catch yourself before falling completely, but the pain in your leg intensified. As you looked up, you saw Luffy quickly turn around, his eyes widening in shock as he took in the sight of you stumbling.
"Y/N?"
"Luffy," you muttered, not even realizing you started crying.
The tears streaming down your face mirrored the mixture of emotions inside you, and you desperately tried to hold back the sobs as you struggled to find the right words to say.
A hand stretched out to you and you took it immediately. Luffy, with a concerned expression, quickly but gently guided you to the top of the Thousand Sunny's head, offering you support as you struggled to regain your balance.
When you made it to the top, you took a moment to catch your breath and wipe away your tears.
When you looked closer at Luffy, you realized that he was in a worse condition than you. His whole body was wrapped with bandages, evidence of the intense battle he had fought. He fought for you.
As you caught your breath, you noticed that Luffy's hat was covering most of his face, and it seemed like he wasn't even looking at you.
With your hands still together, Luffy started talking first, his voice filled with concern. "Y/N, what happened to your leg? Are you okay?"
You slightly chuckled, "Can you worry about yourself for once?" You gestured towards Luffy's bandaged body, emphasizing that he needed to take care of himself too.
"Ahh, yeah, this doesn't hurt at all. After all, I did it to save you," Luff answered, looking up to immediately have eye contact with you. No thoughts in those eyes just like before.
You was shocked by the action that he took, which made you look away in order to gain even just the slightest amount of confidence to glance back at him.
"Y/N?"
You turned back to see Luffy pouting, "Yes Luffy?"
"Are you really going to leave me?" Luffy hesitantly said, slightly squeezing your hand that he was holding for comfort.
It broke your heart in half. In a moment of sheer emotion, you took his empty hand into yours and squeezed it tightly in your hands.
It was now or never.
"Luffy, I didn't mean any of the things that I said on the island. I want to stay with you guys forever. I'll train hard to be worthy of the crew of the future King of the Pirates." You paused, "Only if you'll have me."
Luffy grinned like he had already achieved his dream. "Of course I'll have you forever!"
The moment you heard that, you mirrored his expressions and couldn't help but smile. Nothing could bring you down from the moment you heard that.
You hugged him tightly, feeling a rush of relief and happiness wash over you. In that moment, all doubts and worries melted away as you held onto each other, knowing that you had made the right choice. The bond between you and Luffy grew stronger, and you knew that together, you could conquer anything that came your way.
As he slowly let go, both of you remained less than 10 centimeters away from one another's faces, unable to say anything to each other and just gazing at each other's facial expressions.
Your eyes flickered to the scar on Luffy's face, a constant reminder of his battles and the sacrifices he had made. As you continued to gaze into each other's eyes, the tension grew, and you felt an irresistible pull towards his lips.
It was as if the world around you had faded away, leaving only the two of you in that intimate moment.
"Ah! That's where you are Y/N!"
Nami's voice made you both jump and instinctively you tried to move back from Luffy though his hand on your back kept you in place. Maybe it was because you were one step from falling off the ship or maybe he liked the position you two were in.
"Hey Nami, is there something that you want?"
"Yeah! You were supposed to be in the doctor's room but it seems like you're busy," Nami teased.
"It's not what it looks like-" He would never like you anyways.
"Luffy!"
"Yeah?"
"Why don't you try that thing that Usopp and Sanji taught you? I'll be going now, enjoy your time together," Nami chuckled before leaving the front deck.
"Oh yeah! I almost forgot!" Luffy said, looking back at you with determination.
Taking your hands off his shoulders, he grasped them tightly in his own hands and squeezed them tightly against his.
"Can- Can I kiss you?"
When those words left his lips, you had no other thought in your mind except to surrender to the overwhelming desire that consumed you.
With a nod and a racing heart, you closed the distance between your lips.
As your lips met, a surge of electricity coursed through your bodies, igniting a fire within you both. It was a gentle yet passionate kiss, filled with longing and tenderness. Time seemed to stand still as you melted into each other, your lips moving in perfect sync.
Every touch, every brush of your tongues, sent shivers down your spine, intensifying the connection between you. The world around you disappeared, and all that mattered was the intoxicating taste of each other's lips.
In that moment, you knew that this kiss was just the beginning of a love that would transcend any obstacle, solidifying your bond with Luffy forever.
You were the first to move back, slowly pulling away to catch your breath. Both of you were left breathless, your faces flushed with a mixture of excitement and anticipation.
"That was... unexpected," you muttered, still clinging onto him, trying to process the intense emotions that had just flooded through you.
It was a moment you never saw coming, yet it felt so incredibly right, deepening the connection between you and Luffy in ways you couldn't have imagined.
Luffy laughed at your embarrassed face, his laughter echoing through the ship and breaking the tension. "Unexpected, huh?" he chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
"So how long have you been practicing?" you asked, teasing, as you playfully nudged Luffy's shoulder.
His laughter only grew louder as he shrugged nonchalantly and replied, "Who needs practice when I'm going to be the King Of The Pirates?"
"So you practiced for one day then?" you said, raising an eyebrow at Luffy.
"Yeah, practicing with Usopp and Sanji was the worst!" Luffy sulked, "but doing it with you is way better!"
You blushed at Luffy's words, feeling a mix of embarrassment and warmth.
"Do you want to try again?" you asked shyly, your voice barely above a whisper as you looked into Luffy's eyes.
A mischievous smile played on his lips as he leaned in, his reply coming in the form of another electrifying kiss that made your heart soar.
The second kiss was even more intense than the first.
It was filled with a newfound confidence and a deeper understanding of each other's desires. As your lips met again, there was an undeniable hunger that consumed you both. The world around you faded away once again, leaving only the two of you in this moment of pure bliss.
And as you broke apart, breathless and wanting more, you knew that this second kiss was a testament to the love that would continue to grow between you and Luffy, defying all odds. . . .

"You know what? I think I have found my dream,"
"What is it?"
"It's you, you're my dream."
"What? That's a silly dream,"
"I want to be by your side forever Luffy."
"You're right," Luffy said with a grin, his eyes filled with affection. "And I'm never letting you go. You're not just my dream, you're my reality."
You couldn't help but smile, feeling overwhelmed with happiness. "And you're my reality too, Luffy," you whispered, your words laced with love and certainty. . . .

part 4 (prelude pt. 3) part 5/finale (semi-alt ending)

Peace in Heaven brought peace on Earth, everyone knew it. Which was why, usually, there was no discord among the angels.
Today, however, there had been. You went down to Earth because of it, hoping to escape the lectures that ensued after the other Virtues learned that you let Lucifer help you change the seasons. Only lower ranking angels seemed to be truly upset, but the talk of balance, respect, and entitlement had started to make your mind go numb. You were confident in upholding your virtue. You were never prideful, you didn’t boast, you always looked for what you could do better. You’d never cheated, and you didn’t think of this as such, but it was becoming a debate.
You had no reason to listen to any of the younger angels, but once the sky started to change you knew the conversation had reached higher up. The sky darkened, and you knew it meant the other Virtues were arguing. When thunder rumbled, you knew the arguing had reached the Ophanim. It started to rain, the Cherubim must know too.
You thought to get home before chaos could erupt on Earth, but the moment you took to the sky, lightning struck. No matter where you went, it was nearly impossible to dodge and as the storm grew stronger, you knew that you weren’t strong enough to outrun it. You needed to hide, finding somewhere to cower and cover your ears as you hummed a song to try and soothe the Earth.
But nothing worked — nothing would work when things were just as bad in Heaven.
“This is ridiculous,” Lucifer told Sera and Emily, the youngest of the Seraphim, who was always by Sera’s side, as they sat in a meeting room. “The seasons have always been this beautiful—“
“We all know you think Humility is beautiful,” Emily said, laughing to herself as Lucifer raised a brow.
“Virtues were made to be beautiful,” Sera said, looking at Emily pointedly as the other two Seraphim snickered.
The meeting was interrupted by Temperance, bursting through the doors despite warnings from other Virtues. “There’s a storm on Earth,” she said, panicked. The Seraphim looked at her, confused. “Humility is missing—“
Before she could even finish, Lucifer was standing to leave. Sera stood as well. “You can’t fly in the storm if it’s that bad,” she told him. “Humility can control elements. It’s what Virtues do—“ Even they heard the thunder when she said that, making them all pause.
“We can’t control this,” said Temperance, and Lucifer didn’t need another reason to leave, flying down as fast as he could.
It was worse than when you tried, Lucifer avoiding lighting left and right as he looked around The Garden. He called your name, but it was drowned out in the sound of the storm, which just kept getting worse. There was no stopping a storm when it was born from all of Heaven in debate, which meant you must’ve been waiting it out.
And that meant he had no idea where you’d be; you knew Earth better than he ever could, how could he possibly find you — how could he possibly find somewhere to wait this out—?
A golden leaf caught his eye, whipping in the wind. It shimmered despite the lack of light, heading in a deliberate path. He followed after it, swerving and dodging the storm and fighting against the winds pushing him in opposite directions.
The leaf led him to a small cave, warm light flickering from within. As soon as he entered, the leaf turned to dust and he made his way toward the glow of fire.
He called your name. “Are you there?”
He heard the sound of footsteps. “Lucifer?” He couldn’t help the smile that came when he realized you recognized his voice. It widened when you walked over to him, glad to see you weren’t harmed by the storm. “Goodness, you’re soaked.”
He laughed at your concern, “I’m alright–”
But he followed you as you took his hand and led him deeper into the cave. “We should get you warmed up.” You sat him down. “I’d summon you a blanket, but everything is so out of balance, I don’t think I could even do that.”
“Is that why you didn’t create a portal?” He tried to summon a blanket when you nodded, but his powers were just as confused as yours, gold sparking from his fingers and creating a blanket of moss all across the cave.
“This is very beautiful… and soft,” you attempted to compliment, “but not exactly the blanket I was thinking of.” Your reassurance was met with laughter, making you smile as you asked, “Is that why you came down? Because I didn’t come back up?”
“Temperance was worried,” he said awkwardly, holding his hands over the fire. He wasn't going to tell you that he was worried, too. It wasn’t his place, but he couldn’t help the concern that came the moment he heard you were in a storm even you couldn’t control.
“I see…” You nodded slowly. “You shouldn’t have come—“
“You might’ve been hurt—“ He quickly stopped himself, looking over at your coy smile and sighing. “I was… concerned; Temperance isn’t the type to panic.”
“Yes, of course.” He gave you a pointed look and you continued, “Temperance losing her… temper is always cause for concern.“
“Very funny,” he groaned, making you laugh to yourself.
There was a long pause before you said, “Thank you for worrying about me.” Then, “I’m glad I don’t have to wait this out alone.” And you were glad you’d be waiting it out with him. You couldn’t deny that you enjoyed his company, even if it caused the lecture that led to this in the first place.
He smiled as he removed his robe, the sopping wet garment making him colder than he needed to be. Luckily, his suit was dry. You waved your hand when you noticed him shiver, a warm breeze circling through the cave and making him sigh. “Thank you.” You gave a smile.
“How did you know to send a guide?” He asked, referencing the golden leaf.
“If someone says our true name, it’s like a call,” you explained. “I couldn’t hear you, but I knew someone was out there and needed help… There’s a reason we don’t give our names to everyone, but it can be useful.”
“Why me?”
You shrugged. “It felt right… you feel very familiar—“
“Do I?” He grinned, a look on his face that made you shake your head. “I thought the same thing,” he then said, laughing to himself. “Like we should know each other.”
You smiled very gently, looking over at him from across the fire. “I’d like to know you.”
“Would you?” There wasn’t any teasing laced in his question, if anything, he seemed surprised to hear that from you, so you nodded. “I’d like that, too.”
And suddenly, bright and warm, sunlight seeped into the cave, brightening the mossy surroundings and illuminating the small area. You both frowned, standing and looking out from the entrance. The storm had stopped, only a light drizzle falling from the sky as the sun beamed down on you. In the distance, you could see the rainbow that came after every storm, telling you it was truly over.
“How odd,” was your observation, making Lucifer chuckle. You left the cave, flying up into the gentle rain to look around. The world felt calmer, and the winds were singing the song they always did, circling around you and heading on their way. The plants were still thriving, not a single one broken or hurt. It looked as if the storm never happened.
Lucifer watched as you went to the burrows and hollowed tree stumps, checking on animals, soothing them if they were frightened, or bringing them out of hiding to show them it was safe. He couldn’t help but smile; so much care went into your work — you didn’t even think of it as work, he could tell by the way The Garden brightened as you continued to check on it, how winds and birds sang, how animals followed you. They could all feel the love you had for the Earth, and when you sang, he could feel it, too.
You sang a very quiet tune, the same one to change the seasons, but it only made the gentle winds help to dry off a poor animal you were holding, which you lovingly showed to him, calling him over and letting him hold the animal, too.
And since that day, Lucifer was much more forward. He was sure of how he wanted to know you now, and he only hoped you felt the same. He held up on his promise of gifts, even giving you replicas of the flowers you made while fall took them away. If you said you missed hydrangeas and he’d create one for you by the next time you met, encasing it in a glass jar where it blossomed endlessly, along with any other flower you mentioned.
But your meetings were few and far between. You had to prepare to change autumn to winter, and spring after that, leading to you spending most of your time in your greenhouse, creating new flowers or practicing frosting them over. You found yourself creating flowers you knew Lucifer would like, setting aside several to give to him.
One day, after several hours of work, a pale yellow bird came swooping in. You recognized it, laughing as you said, “Hello, little songbird,” and picked one of the many flowers you set aside for Lucifer to hold out to the supposed bird. “What do you think?” With a soft poof the bird transformed into the angel you suspected. Your wings fluttered. “What a surprise!” You smiled as his red cheeks tinted gold.
“You don’t actually seem all that surprised that I’m here,” he said, taking the flower from you and sticking it into his lapel.
“Were you hoping to surprise me?” Before you could take your hand away, he took it gently in his, kissing the back of it as he always did when he greeted you now.
He looked up at you and shrugged. “Maybe.”
You quickly took your hand away from his as your cheeks shined, making him stifle a prideful laugh. “Well, I’m happy you’re here — does that make up for the lack of surprise?” You asked as you went back to your work, now burying seedlings in golden dust. You didn’t tell him the many flowers set aside were for him, hoping to space them out so you had a reason to see him more often.
“That’s even better,” he answered surely, the gold of his cheeks growing before he cleared his throat. “I thought you might like some company — of course, Sera said to leave you alone.”
“And you’re not listening to her, because…?”
“I wanted to see you,” he said simply, looking around the greenhouse and spotting the flowers you set aside.
His visits to the greenhouse became more frequent, sometimes aiding, sometimes distracting, but you enjoyed them either way. After turning autumn to winter, his kisses on the hand became brazen, then casual, kisses on the cheek as he held your hand. His visits, though still spontaneous, became scheduled and prepared for. He’d make you dinner some nights, or come over for lunch, where you gave him the flowers you set aside and asked his opinions.
There were days you went down to Earth together, flying and playing in the snow. You’d throw snow at one another, or race each other through a beautiful blizzard. Your wings were made to handle the elements, so you often won, but he was quick to make a portal appear in front of you and send you back several feet so he could have a lousy win. But as a prize, he simply asked for a kiss on the cheek, which you couldn’t deny, shielding it with your wings as you did.
There was a day when a blizzard became too hard to see through, so you went to that same mossy cave you did before, the only place where it still felt like summer; the warm breeze you created having never left.
On the mossy cave walls, you traced your hand along it and watched as flowers blossomed wherever you touched. “I can’t wait for spring,” you told him.
“I’m sure it’ll be beautiful,” he said, watching the flowers you made bloom. “It always is.”
You smiled, cheeks slowly becoming gold. “What flower will you collect this time?”
“I’m not sure yet,” he told you, and he told you that, because he couldn’t tell you that Sera forbade him from doing so, saying he’d become a distraction by being so forward, yet not outright trying to pursue you.
So when spring did come, and you witnessed the first bloom alone, you collected a small bouquet before heading back to Heaven and straight to Lucifer’s doorstep. You knocked, waiting patiently before he opened the door, smiling immediately. “It’s you!”
“It’s me,” you laughed, holding the bouquet out to him with fluttering wings. “I brought something for you, since you weren’t there to distract me…”
He was speechless, wings fluttering behind him as he looked at the bouquet in awe. He carefully waved a hand around it, encasing it in glass before snapping his fingers and transporting it to his office.
He looked up at you and said, “thank you for the beautiful gift,” hand taking yours as he leaned in.
But he didn’t kiss your cheek. Instead, he placed his lips tentatively on yours as his fluttering wings involuntarily lifted him from the ground.
You were too shocked to do anything before he pulled away and said, “I’m sure you have important work to do.”
“Your work is far more important than mine.” He laughed, squeezing your hand before he let go. “I’ll see you at the Celebration, right?”
“I couldn’t miss it.”
And just a few days later, another Seasons Celebration came around. It was the same, angels rejoicing; singing, dancing, indulging in heavenly spirits.
And, again, Lucifer arrived late, but he went straight to you. You let the pale bird he’d taken the form of whistle a tune that you hummed along to before he appeared, smiling as he offered his hand to dance.
Maybe it was the confidence alcohol gave you, or you attempting to crush the nerves that stopped you from doing anything when you went to visit him, but you took his hand and pulled him forward, planting a very deliberate kiss on his lips. He didn’t waste time, hands going to your waist as he kissed you back. His arms circled around you, wings shielding your faces and privatizing the moment as your hands went to his cheek and shoulder.
“Finally,” muttered Patience, making you laugh before pulling back.
“Come home with me,” Lucifer blurted breathlessly before his brain could even stop his mouth. He cleared his throat, pausing for a moment, in shock of what he just said. The other Virtues were snickering, Sera looked appalled, and Emily choked on her drink — all while your hands simply fell and brows raised in anticipation of seeing what he might have to say to fix that. He shook his head to get his thoughts in order and quickly remembered Sera’s warning, adding, “Would you like to… For dinner…?” as he moved his hands to your hips, then your hands to make sure he wasn’t coming on too strong.
“For dinner?” He nodded as you quirked a brow at him.
“Or whatever you want,” he said just as dumbly as his first suggestion, his composure leaving him as his eyes flitted between yours, a small smile coming to his lips.
“I want to dance.” His smile widened. You lowered your voice and asked, “How about you take me home after that?”
His hands went to your face as yours gently held his wrists, his thumbs stroking your cheeks. “Whatever you want.”

“...Why are you pouring flour into the rice cooker?”
You blink. The bag of flour in your hands is half-empty, and the rice cooker now contains a sad, white, powdery hill of disaster.
You clear your throat, trying to look casual as you slowly place the bag back in its container.
“I was, uh… measuring. You know. To see how much we have left.”
Zane turns his head slowly. He looks at the flour. Then at the bag. Then at you.
The silence is brutal.
“In what measurements?”
You briefly consider crawling into the oven and baking yourself alive. Honestly, that would be less stressful than dealing with the emotional tornado currently tearing through your stomach.
What even was all that earlier?
Zane silently slides a container of short-grain rice into your hands, his movements calm and precise. He replaces the bowl of flour with an empty one, giving you something productive to do because clearly, you look more frazzled than you thought.
Your hands shake a little as you set the bag aside. You're pouring rice, sure, but you're mostly just staring into the bowl like it might explain what the hell just happened. Like maybe the grains will spell it out for you in Morse code.
I don’t even know Morse code-
What was that look in his eyes? Why was he that close? Why didn’t you move?
…Why don’t you want to move now, just thinking about it?
You bite the inside of your cheek and blink hard. No. Nope. We’re not doing this. I don’t have time for whatever that was. There’s a perfectly logical, non-heart-flipping reason you nearly kissed Cole in a hallway.
Right?
You flinch when Zane clears his throat beside you, not looking up.
"Would you like me to handle the rice?" he asks gently, though you can sense the nuance in his tone that suggests let me handle this and spare you from more public humiliation.
You shake your head too fast. “Nope. I’m fine. Totally good. Just... needed a second to recalculate the uh… rice.”
Zane says nothing, stepping back with a raised brow and understanding smile. You move to the sink and begin washing the rice, stirring the raw grains with your bare hands. “So, what’s for lunch?” You ask warily, eyeing the way he’s holding the knife.
“Vegetable stir-fry and braised tofu.”
You nod sagely, like he’d given you the answer to life. “Tofu. Great. Love that for us. Let’s go vegetarians.” You stare at your lifeless fist pump in disgust, slowly putting it back down.
Zane hums noncommittally, already chopping vegetables with a terrifying position that makes you wonder if he’d ever consider being on an episode of Hell’s Kitchen.
“Do you think it’s possible to spontaneously combust from, like... residual embarrassment?” you ask, mostly to yourself.
“I have not encountered that particular phenomenon,” Zane replies, unfazed. “But I believe your odds increase if you continue scrubbing the rice like it personally insulted your honor.”
You pause, realizing the grains are probably cleaner than your conscience right now. Slowing your motions, you stare blankly into the sink.
It wasn’t just a moment of carelessness. Not really. It wasn’t like you tripped and accidentally got caught in a weird soap opera camera angle.
You’d leaned in. He did too.
And for half a second, everything in your head had shut up. No worries. No overthinking. Just… him.
You suck in a breath and quickly dump the rice into the cooker before you can spiral again. “Anyway. No combusting today. I have tofu to survive for.”
Zane slides a plate of sliced carrots your way. “That’s the spirit.”
You take them and start arranging them in neat, even rows. You absolutely do not picture Cole’s stupidly warm eyes watching you from across the kitchen. Nope. Not happening.
Absolutely not.
— — — — — —
Lunch goes smoothly without a hitch. What you feared to be an awkward moment filled with dread and existential crisis somehow turned into casual banter. The moment Cole had walked into the room and found your wandering gaze, it’s as if a silent agreement was instantly reached to not bring up whatever happened in the hallway.
You move to your seats and like the normal people you are, avoid anything that includes interacting with each other. This unfortunately didn’t go unnoticed, and your attention is drawn to Jay and Lloyd’s occasional giggles.
You eye them with suspicion, gaze sliding over to Cole who actively avoids looking your way. Did he say something…? Surely not.
Just as you’re about to comment on the two idiots who look like they clearly know something, your grip loosens and your chopsticks fall to the floor. Biting back a cuss, you bend down with a sigh and reach for the wooden sticks.
Whether by fate or bizarre coincidence (or maybe he has some manners in him after all), his hand closes around the other end just as yours do. You both pause.
There’s a beat of silence under the table, where the air somehow feels heavier. More… charged.
The floor is so sexy right now, you think bitterly, staring at that one oddly misshapen smudge that you suspect is probably a burn mark of some sort. Instead of doing the sensible thing and look up, your fingers instinctively tighten around the chopsticks.
The weight shifts just as you do, realising that he’d done the same.
Great. Now I’m stuck in a silent tug-of-war over two sad pieces of wood. This is ridiculous. Just let go.
...Except you don’t. And neither does he.
You stubbornly nudge forward a centimetre, gaze still stuck on the burn mark. He nudges back.
This bitch-
You make the mistake of glancing up. Then, you catch it. That goddamn smirk.
The corner of his mouth lifts in that same infuriatingly cocky way. Your breath hitches before you can stop it, thoughts derailing so fast you almost forget where you are.
Your gaze flicks down to his mouth.
Absolutely NOT-
You jolt upright like you’ve just been zapped by lightning, only to slam your head directly into the underside of the table.
The impact reverberates through your skull like a personal attack from the universe. You let out a sharp gasp, practically folding onto the floor as you cradle your head.
“Dude—!” you hear Jay wheeze above the table. “Did she just—?”
Cole shoots up after you, narrowly missing the table edge. “Are you okay?” he blurts, reaching toward you.
“I’m fine!” You wheeze, desperately flailing the arm that isn’t cradling your head in his direction to ward him off. “I’m all good.” If this man got within ten inches of you, there’s no telling what might happen. The further away, the better.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” Nya hesitates, reaching out a hand before patting your shoulder in the most off-rhythmic way possible.
“I’m fine. Why are you guys acting so weird? Back to the food, c’mon. It’s vegetarian.” The pain lessens slightly, enough to shift from your initial cradling to a weak gesture, ushering them back to their seats.
From the corner of your eye you spot Lloyd with his head in his hands, and Jay gripping the edges of the table so tightly you can spot the whites of his knuckles. Nya and Kai simply exchange worried glances before slowly raising their chopsticks once more to continue eating.
“I’ll go check on the mast or something. Ship things.” Keeping your mouth shut would’ve made it a million times easier to slip away but no, you just had to make up a stupid excuse before hurrying out the doorway.
Your feet move on autopilot, eventually finding yourself standing at the deck of the ship. The breeze brushing against your flushed cheeks makes it easier to draw a breath, all tension from earlier dissipating in your chest as you stare at the mountains in the distance.
One breath, then another. You repeat the same action mindlessly, waiting for the calm to slowly inch its way into your chest and replace the nervousness crawling around inside. Glancing down, you realise that you’d been picking at the skin around your nails again. The tips are raw and red, hissing as you press against them with the lightest of pressure.
Pushing past the pain, you scrunch your hands into fists and press them into your palms, suddenly wishing desperately that you were anywhere but here. Maybe this was a mistake. You’d made it so abundantly clear tens of thousands of times that you’d rather die than accept him as your soulmate.
Pulling out your phone, you scroll through the contact before landing on one you never expected to call, not in a million years.
Your finger hovers over the screen, ghosting over the icon as you debate whether to truly go through with it.
Fuck it.
The moment you make up your mind, you’re interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching you. You turn off the phone, swiftly sliding it into your pocket before pressing your lips together as the person moves closer.
It’d be dumb if you didn’t already recognise his steps by now. The very person you didn’t want to be here, stands beside you with his arms resting on the wooden railing. Staring straight ahead, irritability creeps in once again.
“You know, it’s really hard to keep ignoring you when you keep dangling that frozen bag of peas like you’re about to punch me in the face with them.”
“Oh.” He looks at it, then back at you again before raising his hands in surrender. “You caught me.”
That gets a small laugh out of you. The silence after is deafening, feeling heavier and more oppressive by the second. “So are you going to give me those? Or…?”
“Not at all. These are actually for me.” You raise your brows sceptically, watching as he places the bag on his arms with an exaggerated wince.
He lifts it off awkwardly, perhaps realising from the unimpressed expression on your face that the conversation would die before it even began. He shifts, gently pressing the cold bag against the spot on your head that’d been throbbing the most.
The cool sensation is nice, closing your eyes momentarily to relish in the relief it provides. “Thanks,” you mutter, keeping them shut so you don’t have to look at him. But even then, it provides no help whatsoever. It’s as if you’d become alert to everything; each draw of his breath, every shift in his posture, even the words you can anticipate he’s about to say.
“About earlier…”
Damn it.
You hear him swallow thickly. “Why did you…why did you lean in?”
“I didn’t lean in,” you say defensively, before remembering that you’re supposed to behave like an adult and actually talk about your problems instead of bottling it up. “I just— I don’t know, okay?”
The defeated sigh that follows your words makes you slump slightly, opening your eyes and staring pointedly at his shirt. What he says next, however, makes you snap your gaze back up to his, your breath hitching.
“I didn’t mind it.”
His cheeks are colored pinker than your face after a round of sparring with Master Wu, but he doesn’t look away. Your eyes search his, forgetting how to breathe when you see it — fear. It’s not that he wants to look away, he can’t.
And neither can you.
“I, uhm.” You inhale sharply, dropping your gaze to your clenched fists. “I don’t understand.”
“I don’t either,” he admits. His other hand reaches out, closing over your fists. “But that doesn’t mean I have to, right?”
You shrug.
That gets a chuckle from him. “Look. Maybe we don’t have to address it at all. We can save it for when we’re back home, right? Otherwise we might get distracted from the reason why we’re here.” He pauses, brushing his thumb over your knuckles. “Your safety.”
“That’s true,” you say ruefully, “stupid safety.”
“So, we’ll talk about it properly when we’re back home?” He asks once more, a glimmer of hope in his voice.
You nod.
“Great. And if we do it again, we’ll discuss it back home too.” That stuns you, any viable retort dying on the tip of your tongue as he grins unabashedly. “Let’s just keep it a gray area, okay? Okay!”
“What do you mea–”
“Hey look! We’re here!” He ignores you, pulling on the rope that makes a loud bell chime that alerts everyone else on the ship.
Castle spires and golden tips pierce through the clouds, sunlight glinting off the surfaces that make it glimmer. People stroll through the lush green lawns, waving happily at the ship and clamouring their welcomes.
He grasps your wrist, tugging you toward him and gesturing to the floating island. “Welcome to Shintaro.” A strangled noise falls past your lips, looking at him wide-eyed and feeling like your cheeks are on fire, as if he didn’t just basically say five seconds ago it would be a free-for-all.
“Cole!!”

I CAN SEE YOU
track 05: late
NOTE: update bc lenten break started ^^ how are y'alll 👀
It was not a hidden truth to you that your good friend Venti, more known by his penname 'Barbatos', had his way with words. If he didn't, how else would he have had the long list of critically acclaimed works penned under his name? However, there was a first for everything.
You now jokingly doubted whether he actually wrote those poems. You mean — how could someone so articulate and flowery fail to do Inazuma justice?!
Yes, Venti did hype the place up. Yes, he did describe it in positive light. Yes, he was convincing enough to make you extend your stay (for a considerable amount of time at that). But you never imagined Inazuma would be this majestic.
After just a step onto Inazuman ground, freshly fallen petals of varying purples graced your feet. Cold, fragrant breeze embraced you immediately, a stark difference from the warm and gentle winds of your homeland.
Wow. You really left home.
Did you ask permission and tell your parents that there won't be anyone home in your apartment for a long while? No.
Did you care?
Well, actually, yes. It was your first time to go out of town after all. And it is a secret trip, no less. You could not help thinking about the repercussions of your actions, but you forced yourself to, for once, live in the moment and cast those worries aside for later.
Was this how your classmates felt when they used to sneak out past their curfews during high school?
"Your room number is 0616. Here is your key card. Enjoy your stay!" The hotel receptionist flashed a smile, to which you were trained to only respond with a small nod and a slight curve of lips.
A small yet clean room welcomed you. The furnishings, though evidently luxurious, was not to your liking, however. It reminded you of home your family house, where everything was excessively lavish all due to your family's vanity and pretentiousness. No matter. Who expects a hotel room to make you feel at home anyway?
Besides, you were planning to search for a temporary rental space after your very very important meeting tomorrow. If luck permits, you may not even be staying for so long in this stuck-up room.
The only thing you have to do for today is rest well and early in order to be in your best state during tomorrow's meeting.

What the heck is happening?!
Trying to keep yourself seem sane and professional as you converse with a few select officers and staff of Narukami Entertainment when, in fact, you were internally freaking out was not how you envisioned this meeting to be.
You really thought you'd do fairly well.
Constant exposure to pretentious men in suits, masked ladies of high society, and those pretenders claiming to be 'art connoisseurs' your whole life has provided you with ample confidence that you can handle today's affairs flawlessly.
Or at the very least, decently.
Well that was before you saw your favorite singer-songwriter's manager in the same meeting room.
"Here, we prepared a contract." Scaramouche's manager slid a folder across the table. "Go through it first. Feel free to tell us if you wish to change anything, or if you find anything disagreeable."
"Thank you."
You started to go through the contract, meticulously going through each and every clause, assessing each and every word — until one stopped you in your tracks.
'Scaramouche.'
Oh fuck.
Your jests were really just that. Just jests. Not even you believed that it would actually turn real. The state of your mind right now was the exact opposite of what you are projecting, seemingly composed as you were signing the papers.
'Archons, what country did I save in my past life that I get to work with my favorite artist in this life?'
'Will Scaramouche be here?'
'Holy, if I work with him, does that mean I get a spoiler about his next album because I get to make a cover? Can I hear sample songs? Can I know the tracklist? Can I get a signed alb—'
"Okay, so are we all good for today then?" His manager asked as he retrieved the documents.
Oh. So I won't be seeing him.
Maybe they don't really allow their artists to just meet anyone. Understandable, especially since Scaramouche is insanely famous. Maybe you'd never even get to interact with him for the whole duration of the project.
Nevertheless, your heart still leaped at the thought of contributing to his upcoming album.
"Yeah." You flashed a smile. "I think I'm good —"
"Sorry I'm late."

Whispers of the night - Lloyd Garmadon x F!reader

Part 1 - previous - next
Tag list: @cipheress-to-k-pop @whore-of-many-hot-men @bodieohbo @anyth1ngfor0urmoony @luvlloyd @viannasthings @beef-fajitas @bubblekitts
Help- trough this story I accidentally wrote ‘Millie’ and ‘Amelia’ as two different people, but they’re the same person because Millie is a nickname, so I had to rewrite sum scenes💀😭
also, sadly there isn't much Lloyd in here, mostly just y/n and friends, but no worries, next chapter will be Lloyd only.
I myself really hate this chapter, its badly written, some thing don’t really make sense, its just kinda.. idk I don’t like it but it’s long so I don’t want to rewrite it you know… also its been a while since I fed you guys a new chapter, sorry about that.
Your POV:
I yawned, covering my mouth with my hand as I put the last book I needed in my bag, standing in front of my locker. I took a quick glance in the mirror I had stuck to my locker door to check my hair and combed a quick hand trough it.
“You’re coming this evening too, right?” Amelia appeared by my side and I gave her a confused look, closing my locker.
“What’s this evening?” I asked, looking around at the others.
“Oh, party at Caleb’s house,” Flora informed. “Caleb Smith,” she clarified, before pointing a quick thumb at the boys who were watching a football game on Anthony’s phone. “They’re coming too,”
“Oh, yeah sure, I don’t have anything planned,” I agreed. “Most of the school coming I suppose?” I asked curiously and Flora shrugged.
“Well yes, but you can invite people if you want,” she explained, “I know that Charlie’s bringing one of his Basketball buddies and Arty’s invited a colleague from work,” she told me and I made an ‘o’ shape with my mouth.
“So it’s alright if I bring Lloyd along then?” I asked and she nodded along with Amelia.
“What, you’re bringing your boyfriend?” Charlie looked up. “As long as you two aren’t all over each other the whole time,” he pointed at me and I gave him a sceptical look and glanced down at the arm he had around Flora’s waist and then back at him.
“Right back at you,” I muttered and he quickly retracted the arm.
Flora hit his shoulder and glared at him. “She can bring her boyfriend and do couple stuff if she wants! It’s not like we aren’t,” she pointed out with a scowl and Charlie sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
“Yeah, yeah right,” he stumbled over his words, “whatever, I don’t care,” he looked the other way and Millie laughed at him.
“You over protective little shit,” she giggled and he shot her a glare which she ignored, me and Flora joining in on the giggling.
“What’s going on here?” Luna appeared and Millie jumped into explaining what happened.
“Oh please, like you two weren’t making out on the couch while we where hanging out last week,” she said annoyed and Flora quickly looked the other way while Charles turned bright red.
———
Lloyd picked up almost immediately when I called him, I was walking out of the school with the girls as we where going to get ready together at my house.
“Sweetheart,” he said the moment he picked up. “What is it?” He asked, he sounded a bit out of breath.
“Hi, babe, I was wondering if you could make it to a party me and my friends are going to, it’s mostly just kids from school, might get late,” I jumped right to the point but was disappointed when I heard a sigh in the other side.
“Sorry, love, I have patrol this evening,” he apologised, making me already shake my head to the others and bite my lip in disappointment, just humming in acknowledgment. “I’ll see if I’m able to pop in later in the night, I suppose you’ll be there until late?”
I smiled lightly at the idea of him maybe showing up anyway. “Yeah, I think ill be there until maybe two,” I told him.
“Alright then, maybe I’ll join you. Otherwise I’ll make sure I’ll sleep at yours tonight,” he promised making my smile grow.
“Yes please, see you tonight then,” I said happily and heard him lightly chuckle.
“See you tonight, love you,” he said before hanging up the phone.
“So, he’s coming?” Luna asked and I shook my head.
“Just maybe later in the night,” I told them and Millie gave me a confused look.
“You hung up the phone as if you where sure he was coming though, you said ‘see you tonight’” she frowned a bit and I shrugged.
“He’s sleeping over at mine, so regardless of him being at the party or no, I’ll see him,” I explained, making Mills wiggle her eyebrows at me.
“Oh, he’s sleeping over,” she said suggestively making Luna giggle. “Any plans?” She asked, winking at me.
“Oh leave her alone, Lloyd and N/n should go at their own pace without you guys interfering,” Flora scolded with an amused smile.
“But we want to hear the stories of her getting laid!” Luna cried dramatically. “It’ll be her first time and I want to know, besides, we all know Lloyd is here to stay, so it has to happen sooner or later,” she insisted.
“Oh, please, let the girl have her innocence,” Flora waved it off while I just kept my mouth shut.
“N/n you’ve been awfully quiet,” Amelia pointed out and I just stared at the pavement with bright red cheeks. “Awe, don’t be embarrassed,” she giggled, putting an arm around me, but Luna halted.
“Y/n,” she said with a look of disbelief on her face, I avoided her eyes, pursing my lips. “Is there something you need to tell us?” She asked and I had trouble hiding my smile.
“No, no way!” Millie jumped up and down in excitement while Flora just squealed really loudly.
“I’ll tell you when we are in my room,” I mumbled with bright red cheeks and a smile, making them all cheer in happiness.
———
Flora laid giggling on my bedroom floor while Luna and Millie where watching me with open mouths from my closet, both looking for clothes they could borrow from me.
“I’m going to teach Charlie how to do that,” Flora decided trough her giggles and the next sound was a gagging noice from Amelia.
“Look, I get it, the tongue thing is hot, but to thought about you and Charlie- no, absolutely not,” she closed the closet door and we could hear Luna burst out laughing from behind it. Probably something Amelia had whispered.
“Once Mills gets a girlfriend, she’ll get us,” Flora told me making me chuckle and continue brushing my hair.
“Anyway, what happened next?” She asked making me playfully roll my eyes, but I continued anyway, Luna joining us now wearing one of my dresses.
“You love that dress don’t you?” I asked so the a smirk, having seen her wear it multiple times now.
“It’s just so pretty!” She insisted. It was a black sleeveless dress, it was tight at the top but had a flowy skirt that stopped at the knees. “Also, I love spinning in this thing, look,”
She didn’t quick spin and Flora wolf whistled while Luna giggled and did a quick bow.
“You can have it if you want, I’m pretty sure I don’t fit it anymore,” I turned around in my chair. “It was my favourite at some point, but my boobs got to big. But it looks amazing on you, you should have it,” I said and her eyes lit up immediately.
“N/n, I love you so much!” She squealed and quickly ran over to give me a hug, making me chuckle.
“Think of it as a thank you for buying cans of soda for me everyday,” I winked and she chuckled and hugged me again. It had kind of become a habbit for Luna to buy me soda everyday, because I always asked for it since she walked past the supermarket on her way to school. I paid her back with lunch at a cafe in town and presents such as this.
“Forget the dress, you where about to continue the story,” Flora whined and Lu and I shot her a look.
“Well, after… that, we kind of stopped, he helped me put on his shirt, then he quickly put on his boxers we cleaned up a bit and then we just cuddled until we fell asleep,” I explained. “It was really sweet, I was scared it was going to be awkward but it wasn’t at all,” I smiled down at the ground, playing with my fingers.
The girls awe’d and then Millie came bursting trough the door.
“He didn’t leave in the middle of the night right?” She asked, pointing a finger at me. “If he did I’m going to whoop his ass, he should’ve been there in the morning,” she insisted.
I awkwardly smiled, remembering the poor lad that ended up with a black eye when he had left Luna in the middle of the night. They had eventually talked about, he was just nervous.
Millie didn’t take any of his crap…
“No, he was there,” I reassured. “We talked and joked a bit in the morning and then he made breakfast for the two of us before going home again,”
Flora squealed and squeezed Luna’s hand, who had to pull away because it was starting to hurt.
“Yeah, he better,” Amelia nodded making the others laugh.
“What did you joke about?” Luna asked, walking over to have a quick look in the mirror and apply some makeup.
“Well, I complained about having to cover up the hickeys on my neck, and when he suggested that he wouldn’t do it again, I got flustered and mad and he just giggled and eventually I laughed along,” I explained to them.
“Hickeys on your neck? I don’t see any,” Millie pulled my hair aside and inspected it, making me give her a look and then she smirked in realisation. “Illusion?” She asked and I nodded, allowing for them to see it.
They all stared at me with shit eating grins and continued to tease me for the remaining of the time we got ready.
———
After that, we all finished up our makeup and hair before heading out the door, Malcolm being so kind to drive us to the party.
The girls thanked him when we arrived and I promised him to text him when we were done so he could pick us up and bring us home.
“Be safe!” He called after me and I smiled at him.
“We will!” I said before entering the driveway. My friends were waiting at the door, waiting for me before ringing the doorbell, we were a bit late but it seemed like there weren’t many people yet
“Finally,” Charlie gave us a look after he had opened the door. “Weve been waiting for ages,”
He then pulled Flora towards him, kissing her forehead. “You guys are late,” he gave Millie a pointed look, knowing that it probably was because she had to go to the bathroom last minutes and he was right.
“Sorry,” she grumbled. “When I have to go, I go,” she stated and then stuck out her tongue at Charlie who did it right back.
“Children, children,” Antony appeared. “Come on you guys, we want to start monopoly,” he pulled open the door further and the five of us left the hallway.
“Guys, this is Mathew, my buddy from basketball,” Charlie introduced and pointed at a tall guy, pouring a drink for himself, standing at a high table with bottles on it.
“Sup,” he greeted, we awkwardly said hi back, against populair believe, we were rather socially awkward, at least the music in the background didn’t cause for an awkward silence.
“Oh, and this is Aaron,” Arthur appeared out of the doorway that led to the kitchen, followed by another guy.
“Nice to meet you all,” he greeted, his eyes quickly traveling over us, stopping on me, as a small smirk appeared on his lips. “Very nice,” he said making my eyes shoot to Luna’s, then to Amelia’s and right next to Flora.
“Hi,” I plainly said and turned my back, looking over at Antony. “So, you said we were playing monopoly,” I grinned and he huffed.
“No,” he shook his head, “I just said that so Amelia would get her ass over here, we’ve waited long enough,” he said making the girl give him an offended look.
“You little-” Tony was given no warning when she jumped at him, they stumbled and the others laughed while Amelia tried getting him onto the ground and horribly failing.
“You suck,” James laughed when Amelia laid flat on her back, Anthony still standing.
“Shut the fuck up,” she panted. “I am no Y/n, besides, Ant is a head taller and way stronger, I’m surprised I lasted as long as I did,” she smiled rather proudly.
“Then why did you attack me in the first place,” Antony asked, rubbing his arm when she’d accidentally scratched him with her nails.
“You were bing a dick,” she shrugged making Arthur snort, resorting in him getting hit on the head by his twin.
“Now go on, sit down, grab a drink, be fun,” James dragged me to the floor to sit next to him and I scoffed but sat down on the ground anyway.
“I’ll grab drinks, what do you want?” Luna looked at me and then Millie and Flora.
“Just get me a water to start,” Flora smiled softly.
“Cola mixed with vodka, you know how I like it,” I told her and she nodded and then looked at Millie, who still laid on the ground.
“Just a beer,” she said and Luna nodded before heading to the kitchen. “If we’re not playing monopoly, then what are we doing?” Amelia asked.
“Whatever you want that’s not monopoly,” Charlie said, making her glare at him, causing him to smirk. “We can watch a movie, go outside Caleb’s starting a fire, put on some better music, play any other game, a drinking game, anything,” he named and Amelia sat up.
“Truth or drink it is,” she said, making Charlie groan.
“No,” he whined but she crossed her arms.
“You said anything but monopoly and suggested a drinking game, here you go, truth or drink,” she grinned and he glared at her.
“It’s so lame!” He complained, followed by agreements from most of us, causing Amelia to huff and roll her eyes.
“I don’t mind it,” we looked at the twins as they gave each other a surprised side eye for a second before ignoring the fact they spoke in sink.
“That’s because you don’t care and just say everything,” Charlie pointed at Arthur. “And you can hold your liquor like a champion and just do shots every chance you get,” he looked at Anthony who smirked.
“We’re playing truth or drink?” Luna entered the room aswel and there was a chorus of no’s and yes’.
“Ah, come on, it could be fun,” Mathew, Charlie’s basketball buddy spoke up. “Besides, maybe me and Aaron can get to know you guys then,” he smiled slightly.
It took a few minutes of bribery and begging, but eventually everyone was on board, even Charlie.
“Alright, so we’re just going around the circle?” Flora asked and everyone nodded. The game had already been set up, everyone had their own shot glasses and some liquor bottles stood on the table the group sat around.
“James, truth or drink, who in the group would you kiss without question?” Arthur didn’t waste a second, making James look up offended.
“Why immediately start with me?” He asked, looking around the group for support.
“Oh don’t be a baby,” I teased. “Truth or drink?” I repeated and he groaned. “Also, Art, lame ass question, but that doesn’t matter,”
My last remark was met with a pillow thrown against my head and laughs around the table.
“Chop chop, answer the question,” Luna hurried and James rolled his eyes before looking around the group for a second.
“Y/n, probably, or Lu,” he thought for a bit. “But that’s because I’ve known them for years and I’ve kissed both of them before,” he explained and Anthony gasped, putting a hand against his chest.
“Not me?” He asked ‘hurt’, blinking innocently at James. “How could you?” He said dramatically.
“Oh, any day bro,” James blew him a kiss, causing Anthony to wink at him.
“And they’re still beating the gay allegations,” Amelia shook her head. “I’m so done with you two,” she grumbled, causing the group to chuckle.
“Next,” James stopped Amelia’s complaining. “Luna, was it you that snuck into my house three years ago, stealing all my boxers?” He asked and without hesitation, Luna poured a shot, making me and Amelia giggle.
It did leave Mathew and Aaron with lots of questions, causing James to go into detailed explanation that someone snuck into his house in the middle of the night, stole all his boxers and decorated the school with them.
He never found out who did it, but he had his suspicions…
It had been me and Luna, sneaking into his house while Amelia waited outside for us, standing ‘on guard’ as she’d called it.
We never admitted it and it did leave Jamie rather confused.
The game went on for a while and I did enjoy it, the party got more crowded and two other girls had decided on joining us aswel. I knew them only from history class, but I liked them so I didn’t mind.
Soon enough though, I started to get a bit uncomfortable with this Aaron.
He asked the girls weird questions, except for Flora, probably because Charlie was in the room. He kept glancing at me and one of the other girls, places where he should not be looking.
Luna, Amelia and Flora noticed it too, yet the boys where to blind as always. I’m pretty sure the other two girls saw it to as I noticed their exchange of glances and whispers to each other.
It was Amelia who was the first to speak up.
“Hey, if appreciate it if you stopped staring at N/n’s boobs, thank you,” she interrupted Arthur’s sentence as she stared at Aaron with a scowl.
“Calm down, I’m just looking,” Aaron smirked slightly. “I’m a man, if she has her tits on display like that, I’m going to look,”
My eyes widened and I instinctively looked at James who saw red.
“Dude no,” Arthur, who sat next to him and had been the one to bring him spoke up first. “I will not have you talking to her, or any girl for that matter like that, stop looking at her,” he stated, glaring at the guy next to him.
“Chill, dude, I’m just joking,” Aaron laughed and winked at me.
Amelia didn’t take two seconds to stand up but Anthony was faster and stopped her before she did anything.
“Let’s go outside,” he looked around at the others that belonged to our group. “The lot of us,” he said and took Amelia with him as he left.
James helped me up from the ground and we left too, along with Mathew and the two other girls decided on following aswel.
Arthur stayed behind, I guessed he was going to have a word with Aaron. I exchanged glances with him before going outside and he gave me a small smile.
Outside, the cold air did do me good and it felt good to feel the breeze against my sweaty face.
“What a weirdo,” Luna said when we all stood around one of the fires.
“Yes, I totally agree,” one of the girls spoke up. “I mean, we joined because we saw ya’ll where having fun, but then we noticed how he looked at you,” she nodded at me, “and he looked at Katie,” she gestured to her friend. “And the inappropriate questions he asked us girls,” she gestured around to the girls around the fire.
“That was actually not okay, maybe we should look for Caleb and ask him to kick the dude out or something,” Charlie suggested, wrapping his arms around Flora who was shivering because of the cold.
“Maybe we should just let it be,” I said while looking at the ground, my arms wrapped around myself to get rid of the cold. “It could cause trouble and mess with the vibe hanging around,”
“Yes, but there’s still a creep wandering around a party and almost no one knows him,” James argued causing the other girl to pipe up.
“We’re in Caleb’s friend group, we could inform him of what’s happening and ask him to keep an eye out,” she suggested with a smile.
“We know tons of people, we can just spread the word, maybe it’ll cause him to leave on his own,” the other one nodded in agreement.
“If you don’t mind,” Flora, ever so kind smiled at them. “We don’t want it to ruin your night,”
“Nah, it’s fine, we’ll go look for Caleb, thanks for the fun,” one of them said and they left while waving at us.
“Thank you guys too, bye,” Luna waved before looking at me. “How are you feeling?” She asked, “we can leave if you want,”
“Yeah, maybe that’s better,” Millie agreed, giving me a pittiful look.
“Aye, it’s not that bad, let’s just enjoy the night that remains,” I assured. “Besides, I’m not letting an asshole like him ruin my night,” I huffed making the others chuckle.
“That’s the spirit,” Arthur appeared next to me. “I tolt Aaron off and told him it’d be better if he left, he refused and I can’t exactly kick him out, so I just told him to leave us alone,” he explained.
“Yeah that’s fine,” Amelia nodded. “The girls that were with us are informing Caleb and a few others of the situation,” she explained to him and he nodded along.
“Good,” he stated. “Anyone wanting some drinks? I’ll get them,” he looked around while everyone gave their orders.
“Just a water for me, the shots are getting to me,” I grinned and he huffed a small laugh but agreed anyway.
“I’ll come with you,” Anthony said and then twins walked off to pour the lot of us drinks.
“Is Lloyd coming?” James asked me and I shook my head.
“I don’t think so, he send me a text an hour ago saying he probably wasn’t going to make it,” I told them, a tiny bit upset, but it was fine. “Lucky for Aaron though, I’m not sure his teeth would’ve survived,” I had a small grin on my face.
“What? You’re saying Lloyd would’ve beat him up?” Amelia asked amused and I chuckled.
“Not beat him up per se,” I said with a laugh. “Just punch him or something, he does have quite the temper, but I think it would only happen if he’s in a bad mood already,”
“Damn, I would pay to see your boyfriend beat up a guy for you, it’d be funny as hell,” Luna grinned and I shot her a quick look.
The group fell in easy conversation, Millie telling us a bout the new school gossip.
“Are you alright?” I looked to my side to see James growing ever so slightly. “You seem uncomfortable,” he looked down at my arms that were trying to cover my lower stomach.
“Just a bit,” I answered honestly, “he was staring a lot,” I swallowed thickly and James smiled before taking of his jacket and putting it around my shoulders.
“I expect to get that back,” he warned me and I smiled at him and put my arms trough the jacket.
“I’ll make sure of it,” I promised before retiring my attention to Amelia.
———
After a few minutes the twins returned with the drinks and handed them out. We stood around the fire for an hour and it was quite fun.
At one point someone gave us a bag of marshmallows and some sticks so we could hold them over the fire. We thanked him and it did end up in a bit of a fight.
That translates to, the boys started throwing them and it ended up with James almost landing in the fire.
(Flora told them off, the mother she is)
“Hey, Mills,” Amelia looked up when Anthony called her name and then looked in the direction he had nodded with a wicked grin.
She quickly looked back at us with wide eyes and a red face. Around one of the other fires, her crush was talking with her friends.
“She’s so pretty,” she whispered yelled to us. “Look at her dress,” she bounce up and down and we all laughed.
“Go ask her out,” Luna bumped her own shoulder against Amelia’s.
“What- no! Are you crazy? I barely know her,” she whispered and Anthony rolled his eyes.
“C’mon, I know some of her friends, I’ll get you that date,” he took her arm to start walking towards the others but she backtracked.
“Wow, wow, wow,” she looked at him with wide eyes. “Give me a second,” she said sassily. “How does my hair look?” She turned to me and did a quick spin.
“It looks fine, nothing to worry about,” I assured.
“My makeup?” She asked, bringing her face closer to mine.
“A bit smudged, there’s mascara under your left eye- wait no don’t panick,” I looked at Flora who was already digging in her purse.
“Here,” she handed me some cotton swabs and makeup remover.
Within one minute, Millie was ready to go and she was a nervous wreck.
“Shots for good luck,” James said and took the bottle we had left on the grass and poured a shot for Amelia and Anthony. They clinked their glasses together before throwing back the shot and leaving the group.
“She’s so gonna get laid,” James smirked proudly and then pretended to wipe away a tear making Luna push him lightly.
“Stop it,” she scolded and he grinned at her.
“You know how got laid,” Flora spoke and my eyes widened slightly when she looked at me, my cheeks heating up.
“Shush,” I said with a small smirk and couldn’t say anything else because James squealed loudly.
“You know, I am so proud of you, you are finally growing up,” he said emotionally and hugged me.
“Are you actually crying?” I asked when I felt him sobbing, and I put my arms around him.
“Leave me alone,” he whined and we laughed at him.
“I think the alcohol is getting to you, Jamie,” I said and he pulled away from me, putting me at arms length.
“You think?” He yelled. “I’m never emotional,” he whined and then let himself fall into the grass, which I was pretty sure was wet.
“Get up Jamie, you’re going to get sick,” I took his hand, trying to pull him up but he wouldn’t budge. “Jamie?” I asked but he didn’t answer.
“Is he asleep?” Charlie asked amused and I groaned when I realised he was right.
I was about to wonder aloud how we would wake him, when Luna came with the solution. Without a doubt, she poured her glass of water over James’ face and he shot up, giving her a deadly look.
“Goodmorning,” she greeted with a fake sweetness in her voice.
James pouted at her and she sighed. “Go get this guy a glass of water,” she groaned and Charlie laughed and helped James up.
“Me and Flora are leaving anyway, she’s cold and tired, I’ll take James with me, he can crash at mine,” he suggested and we agreed.
“Are you walking home?” Arthur asked and Charles nodded.
“Yeah, it’s like five minutes,” he shrugged and then looked at James who was drunkenly staring up at the sky. “Maybe ten,” he said in a pained voice making us laugh.
We said our goodbyes, I gave Flora a hug and then the three of them headed inside to get some water and then leave trough the front door.
A few minutes later a notification popped up on our screens and it was Flora who sent her location like we all promised we would do after leaving a party split into groups or alone.
“What’s the time?” I asked Luna who glanced at her phone.
“Almost half past one,” she answered and I pursed my lips.
“Half an hour and then go home?” I suggested and she nodded.
“Fine by me,” she then glanced at Amelia who was seemingly going well with her crush. They where talking and laughing while Anthony observed like a proud dad. “Don’t know about her though,” she said amused.
“Don’t worry about her, you girls go home, me and Tony will make sure Millie gets home safe,” Arthur promised.
“Though, if she’s lucky she’s going home with someone else tonight,” Mathew grinned when he looked back at the girl.
Luna and I giggled while Arthur let out an amused laugh.
We spent the remaining half hour finishing our drinks while tagging along with a group who where watching a football game inside.
Mathew and I had no idea what was going on, but we just decided to cheer whenever Lu and Arthur cheered.
After that, Lu and I said goodbye to the two boys and went to find Amelia. That wasn’t too difficult because she was right where we left her.
“Millie,” I tapped her shoulder and she turned to me. She seemed rather alright, I was pretty sure she didn’t drink any alcohol since leaving our side. “I’ve called Malcolm and he’s coming to get Lu and me, are you joining us or are you going with the twins?” I asked and she contemplated for a bit and looked back at the girl in front of us.
“I think I’ll stay for a bit longer,” she said and I nodded as she gave me a rather excited smile.
“Yeah, that’s fine, just text the group chat when you guys get home and call me if you need anything,” I gave her a quick side hug and waved at the girl she was talking to before both me and Lu left.
When we closed the front door, Malcolm was already pulling up and I sent my location in the group the moment we where safe in the car.
We dropped of Luna at her house before driving home ourselves.
I was gonna hate myself in the morning.
Malcolm, the sweetheart he is, helped me up the stairs to my bedroom and then wished me a goodnight.
I quickly discarded my dress and heels and then just pulled one of Lloyd’s hoodies over my head before dropping into bed and drifting off to sleep.
I sleepily opened my eyes when someone planted a kiss on my forehead and got into bed with me, pulling me into his arms before I drifted off again.

game's over, you exist now, to my doom

✦ just wanna make it clear that a label isn't a requirement for you to grieve a lost relationship. words were given and pinkies were crossed, if one side betrays such then it is enough to mourn what was supposed to be.
✦ ALTHO pls do not settle for a relationship like that on the long run. taking it slow is one thing, but whatever k*ito pulled up is bullshit and doesn't deserve a pinch of attention.

Waking up at 5am is hard. It’s even harder when most of the people you’re surrounded with are morning people, when you are very evidently not one of them. Fortunately, what are soulmates for if not to piss each other off?
“Breakfast is served,” Cole proclaims proudly, purposely ignoring your bleary-eyed self being dragged to the dining table. Nya has the collar of your ratty pyjama shirt in a death-like grasp, having hauled your ass out from the air mattress in her room.
“Nooo…” You can barely muster enough energy to complain properly, making grabby hands toward the hallway she’d pulled you through.
Kai raises a brow, taking a long, slow sip of coffee. “Got it. Not a morning person.” Nya ignores your incoherent grumbles, plopping your exhausted self on the chair next to hers. Jay slides into his seat without another word.
When you finally raise your head to meet his eyes however, you’re greeted with the exact same dead-eyed gaze. He stares back silently, a shared understanding passing between you both before he gives you the barest of nods.
Comrades.
Zane quietly sets down a cup of coffee on the table, followed by a bowl of water with ice cubes floating around inside. “Eggs and pancakes, made by yours truly. With a little help from Zane, of course.” Cole slides the plate in front of you, raising an encouraging brow.
Giving up the potential future of more sleep, you grab your fork and stab the eggs, raising it to your mouth. Through your munches, you watch as Jay chugs his coffee without breathing, then dunks his entire head into the bowl of ice water.
No one flinches.
Instead, Kai grabs the bowl and sets it back into the sink like it’s another Tuesday, while Jay wipes his face with a towel Nya hands him. “OoOOooo, scrambled eggs!” He exclaims upon putting down the towel.
The next bite of eggs you’d shoved onto your fork slides back down onto your plate with a loud splat. “Witchcraft,” you mumble, eyeing him warily. He simply shrugs. “You just gotta find a routine that works.”
You’re about to respond with another retort worthy of a kindergartener’s praise when the conversation is interrupted by Zane placing something in front of you. The aroma makes you press your lips together, picking up the homemade latte. “Vanilla syrup?”
He nods with a smile. “Full-fat milk?” You ask, scrutinizing the drink like it’s about to attack you with swords made of foam. Taking a sip upon his second nod, the familiar bittersweet taste washes down your throat.
“Cole said you liked to drink lattes in the morning.”
“Did he?” A single glance at your soulmate has you recoiling slightly at the fact that he’s having a mini competition with Jay to see who could shovel more scrambled eggs into their mouth the fastest. “I’m honoured that he remembered,” you say dryly.
Kai shrugs. “How’re you getting home later? Bus, or train?” He pauses at your stubborn glare. “No. You will not be coming with us. Who knows if that guy’s gonna show up at Shintaro?”
“Even more reason for me to go,” you argue, pointing your fork at him. “Where else would I be safer, than with a bunch of ninja…ninja-dudes?”
“You’re not going, and that’s final.” He yelps, jumping out of the way when you throw the utensil at him. Pixal catches it easily, placing it back down on your plate. “That was unnecessary!”
You shove half a pancake in your mouth. “I’m coming.” Kai groans, throwing his hands up in defeat.
“Cole!”
Your soulmate pauses in the middle of doing the dishes. He glances between you both, Kai’s expectant stare morphing into horror as he replies, “She’s gonna come anyway. I’d rather it be on the Bounty than on a hang glider.”
Another yawn cuts off the triumphant stare you direct his way, blinking sleepily as your energy drains out of you. “I’m assuming it’s gonna be a long ride, right?”
“It will take approximately under 12 hours to reach Shintaro.”
“Cool,” you reply lazily, standing up and stretching. “I let my dad know I’ll be staying with a couple of friends for a while, so we should be good. I hope.”
Kai makes a strangled noise. “You told him you’re staying with friends? That’s... not technically wrong, but also wildly misleading.”
“Yeah, well,” you mutter, rubbing at your eye, “I didn’t think ‘Hey Dad, I’m going on a high-risk mission with spirited ninjas to a mountain kingdom’ would go over well.”
Cole lets out a soft laugh, drying his hands on a towel before stepping closer. “As long as he’s not expecting daily FaceTimes, we should be okay.”
“Nah,” you wave your hand dismissively. “I got a Zoom background I’ll use. Besides, Nya let me borrow her clothes.”
“That’s true,” Nya pipes up, glaring back at Kai who gestures in disbelief. “What? She’d be safer with us.”
“Hey guys,” Lloyd walks in with his blonde hair impeccably styled in that signature swoop of his. You eye it with suspicion, wondering if he’d be open to teaching you some tips on styling your own hair. Maybe even give you the brand of his hairspray.
“We’re good to go,” he says, nodding toward the doors. “Pixal’s already booted up the Bounty. She’s doing a system check now.”
There’s a soft buzz of anticipation in the air as everyone begins gathering their bags. You follow the others outside, the cool morning breeze wrapping around you like a thin scarf. The grass is damp with morning dew, and in the distance, you can already see the sleek outline of a flying ship rising above the trees.
Awe doesn’t begin to describe how you feel, watching in amazement as it slowly comes to a stop, hovering a few feet above the ground. A rope ladder automatically unravels from the deck, with Jay being the first to climb up with his bag.
Cole is next, easily grabbing each rung while Nya follows suit. Part of you is tempted to hook a leg through the gaps and dangle upside down — just to see how it feels. But rationality wins out, and you find yourself strangely excited to board.
But something pulls your gaze back.
Master Wu stands just to the side of the courtyard, arms behind his back, gaze fixed on the horizon like he’s searching for something he can’t quite name. You hesitate, then step away while Kai makes his way up.
“Hey,” you murmur as you approach, voice softer than usual. “You okay, Master Wu?”
He startles slightly, turning to face you. His expression is calm, but the lines around his eyes seem deeper this morning, wearier. “I am... as well as one can be, when old stories begin to repeat themselves.”
You blink at that, not sure what to say. It’s hard to tell when he’s just being an old man, or when he’s being super duper mysterious.
He watches you carefully, and for a moment, something like sadness flickers behind his eyes. “Just…” He pauses. “Be careful. History has a way of repeating when the lessons are left unfinished.”
That... doesn't feel very encouraging.
You open your mouth to ask what he means, but he simply places a hand on your shoulder, squeezes gently, and turns to walk back inside, robes whispering over the stone.
You're left staring after him, a faint chill crawling down your spine despite the warmth of the rising sun.
“Everything okay?” Cole asks from the deck of the ship, with his duffel bag slung over one shoulder.
You plaster on a smile. “Yeah. It’s all good.”
— — — — — —
A fun fact not that many people tell when you’re on a flying ship: Seatbelts don’t exist.
Which in hindsight, plays a very significant part in the current struggle of turbulence. The rest of them look perfectly fine, leaning their weight on each leg and shifting ever-so-slightly with the ship’s movement.
Then there’s you; hands flailing, unlimited cussing, and insane amounts of self-control to not give into the impulse of throwing something at someone.
“I’m good! Totally fine!” you call out over your shoulder, gripping the nearest rope for dear life as the ship lurches again. “Just getting used to the whole sky thing.”
Cole chuckles beside you, walking around easily. The audacity. “You’re walking like a baby giraffe.”
“Keep laughing,” you warn him, narrowing your eyes. “I’m not above revenge, as you might know.”
He just smiles, unfazed. “C’mon. I’ll show you your room before you break something.”
You follow him down the narrow hallway, muttering threats under your breath. The ship creaks with motion as Pixal adjusts altitude again, another tremor passing under your feet. You stumble slightly, brushing a hand along the wall for balance as Cole keeps a steady pace ahead of you.
Then, another, sharper jolt.
You don’t have time to think. Instinct kicks in.
Your hand shoots out and grabs Cole’s arm tightly. You try to steady yourself, but the sudden shift in momentum throws you off completely, and with a startled yelp, you lose your footing.
Cole turns just in time for you to crash into him. Hard.
There’s a dull thud as the two of you slam into the wall, his back hitting it with a grunt. One of your hands braces against the wall beside his head, pinning him there unintentionally, while your other still clutches his arm like a lifeline. His hand lands at your waist, steadying you without hesitation.
You wince. “Sorry,” you breathe out, voice barely above a whisper.
He groans softly, blinking once. Twice. “Ow.”
You both still.
A beat passes.
Then another.
Your eyes are scrunched closed, embarrassment flooding your cheeks. However, you slowly peel them open, the world taking a second to come back into focus.
And he’s there.
Close. Way too close.
Your breath catches in your throat. Every detail hits you all at once: the curve of his jaw, the soft furrow of his brows, and the warmth radiating between your bodies. His face is framed by your arm, his expression unreadable, eyes locked onto yours like he’s trying to figure something out.
He doesn’t move.
Neither do you.
The air grows thick between you, taut like a drawn string. You should back up. You know you should. But your limbs feel stuck in place, too heavy to respond, your heart thudding in your chest like a warning…or a promise.
Cole’s gaze flickers — just slightly — as if searching for something in your expression.
And then, your eyes betray you.
They flit downward. Just for a single moment. To his lips.
And then back up again.
His eyes darken with the slightest shade of charcoal black. Sharpening with the weight of something unspoken.
You forget how to breathe.
Maybe he feels the same way, you think, gaze tracing the faint curve of a grin tugging at the corner of his lips. He’s still watching you, but there’s something softer in his expression now. Curious, unreadable, intent.
His hands shift slightly, thumbs brushing against the bare sliver of skin between the hem of your shirt and the waistband of your jeans. The contact is featherlight, but it burns. You suck in a breath and before you can stop yourself, your body leans in closer, betraying every ounce of self-control you thought you had.
The ship dips with another wave of turbulence, sending you forward by instinct.
Your breath hitches, lips barely ghosting over his.
Just enough to sense the space collapse between you, the hum of his breath against your skin, how your hearts are practically beating against one another.
Your mind blanks completely.
Cole doesn’t flinch. He doesn’t move. His hands tighten slightly at your waist, grounding you. But his face tilts, like he’s being pulled by a thread he doesn’t know how to fight. His eyes search yours, half-lidded, caught in something that feels too real to name.
He leans in. Slowly, like he’s dreaming.
That’s when your brain finally short-circuits back online.
Panic flares through your chest.
You jerk back with a sharp inhale, wide-eyed, the cold air between you hitting harder than it should. Cole stumbles a little with the shift, blinking like he’s just been snapped out of a trance.
Neither of you say anything.
“Uh…”
The sudden voice makes you flinch. Zane stands a few feet away. Your heart drops, automatically stepping back and pushing Cole away a little too harshly
You step forward quickly, grabbing Zane’s arm. “Yeah! What’s up?” you blurt, smile already plastered across your face. “I can help. Totally. Let’s help. Helping is what I do.”
Without waiting for an answer, you start dragging him down the hallway, your voice still pitched too high as you ramble, “Where are we going again? Doesn’t matter. Let’s go!”
Behind you, Cole’s quiet oof from hitting the wall again goes unanswered.
Zane glances at you, then back over his shoulder at Cole. “Is everything… alright?”
You laugh. “Yup. Everything’s great. Peachy.”
— — — — — —
“You’re an idiot.”
“I know,” Cole sighs, his head in his hands. He pauses, sensing something’s off. Looking up, he frowns at the way Lloyd is tidying the mini figurines on the shelf in his room. “Aren’t you supposed to be giving me encouragement?”
“Yeah, but you fucked up Cole. Shouldn’t have leaned in.” Lloyd sighs dramatically, flopping down onto the bed next to him. “She leaned in first though, right?”
Cole nods.
There’s a dramatic gasp. Both turn to Jay, who’s frozen in the gaming chair like he just witnessed a murder. Hands slapped over his mouth, eyes bulging wider than the sock puppet Zane made the other night with googly eyes.
“She leaned in??”
Cole exchanges a glance with Lloyd, then nods again. Slower this time.
A strangled squeal escapes Jay as he flails his legs like an over-caffeinated toddler. “Do you not get what this means?!”
Cole blinks. “No?”
Lloyd suddenly goes rigid, sitting upright as realization dawns. “Do we tell him?”
“I say we let him figure it out,” Jay grins, arms crossed.
“Figure what out?” Cole snaps, exasperated. “Why did I think this was a good idea? One of you is a drama queen, and the other is…you.”
“I give it a day,” Jay declares.
“A day and a half,” Lloyd counters.
Jay raises a brow. “Ten bucks to the winner?”
Lloyd holds out a hand. They shake on it.
Cole frowns, suspicious. “What are you betting on?”
Lloyd just pats him on the shoulder. “You’ll see.”
