Fun Fact
BuzzFeed published a report claiming that Tumblr was utilized as a distribution channel for Russian agents to influence American voting habits during the 2016 presidential election in Feb 2018.
i'm sorry i have to complain. fox has the craziest graphics. first of all they show yellow cards above the team name. why? no one knows. then in addition to showing a red card, it says "down to 10 players" underneath. in case we're stupid and don't know the rules. and then on top of that, they don't show that it's added time? it just said 48:45 or whatever? no +X for the amount of added time? like ??? do they actually understand the sport they're airing or not
yk i have not been watching the rookie tournament due to the horrors but getting all my information secondhand thru @whoredeleau, it does strike me very much as similar to the '22 rookie tournament, where i walked out of it convinced this would be the cuda's year. and it absolutely was NOT, but i did proceed to have the most fun i've ever had as a barracuda fan in the 22-23 season. fingers crossed the vibes are changing
i appreciate this recent trend in dc movies like reeves batman or gunn superman where it appears that the way to really hammer home the different between the hero identity and the civilian one is to give the civilian identity the ugliest fucking haircut imaginable
addendum part 1 to this: my point is hermione's opportunities were directly impacted by several male characters who get praised as creative geniuses. in some cases she chooses to put other things over experimenting with magic, like starting SPEW and knitting house elf hats, but in many cases she's forced to.
i think fans tend to remember hermione in hbp the most, which is frankly just ooc and jkr's weird/inconsistent writing around hermione in general, given hermione clearly questions bias and propaganda in textbooks wrt house elves, werewolves, umbridge's lessons, etc and she invents stuff of similar complexity to snape at the same age lol, but doylist interpretation - hermione was looking forward to getting that #validation once snape was no longer potions teacher and just immediately developed a grudge against the prince, idk; harry's own attachment to the prince isn't entirely normal behavior for him either but partially projecting grief for sirius, so some weird emotional hang up is probably a better explanation.
if she's less interesting intellectually, imo it's because she's probably the only brilliant character who doesn't have like... specialties? specific interests? others have particular fields they're known for, and ways their friendships (and/or enemy and narrative mirror relationships) and social backgrounds and trauma etc impact their magic and interests which is more interesting to me than debates measuring intellect on a linear scale, while hermione's just a little scattered and all over the place depending on what the narrative needs (which is probably fitting to her experience considering harry and the war, but.)
even "dark arts" gives me a direction, but even there, there's like, dumbledore level of prejudice against dark arts, then there's sirius level of into dark arts, then there's voldemort/bellatrix/grindelwald/snape(/...lily) level into dark arts, and i feel like hermione probably falls between the latter two, but idk.
detour (the x-files 1997) is like a green screen episode to me. man this one’s gonna be good when they finish it (replace the canada trees with florida trees)
