For everyone who is uncomfortable with violent rap, I ask you please just think. Just think. You don’t like violence? Well some people’s lives are violent. The world is violent, maybe not to you, but it’s not something you can wish away by ignoring. Is your comfort more important than the very real violence that impacts peoples lives? Are you too good, too pure, to acknowledge the reality of life for some people?

Right….

Listen to rap. Listen to violent rap. But really listen, because often they tell you exactly the reasons why that violence exists. We all know why.

People not liking rap are fully justfied because most rap songs really are shockingly violent, hateful and overall socially harmful. Not wanting to be exposed to such things doesn't make you abnormal. On the contrary, it means that you're a healthy person.

no, im not racist. i just think all rap music is bad because it's violent and sexual, which obviously has never been the case for any other music genres! it's not racist to say all rap music covers the same topics: drugs, sex, violence. they actually made a Music Rule that said only rap music is allowed to have these things. which means my white boy rock bands are safe 😐👍

I always love imagining Gamzee in his own little murder rap/icp kinda band. I listen to Cemetery Girl and In My Room by ICP and just imagine Gamzee inviting Karkat to one of his gigs and is like “I wRoTe ThEsE fOr YoU bRo :0)” and Karkat just can’t tell if he should be mortified,flattered, or horny when he hears them

ah that's fun i love that. karkat is exactly the kind of useless romantic who would love that, even if it also embarrasses him. tsundere karkat. I really love trying to bring in his musical interests into stuff, it's fun and a big part of his identity. it's just hard to write about music i think, especially if you want to write lyrics? hard to write original lyrics that seem like they would be musical let alone a rap verse.

I wish people knew they can dislike stuff for no real reason. It's fine to not like things and not subject yourself to something that just irks you in some way. You don't have to go on and make broad and general statements about the thing or the people who enjoy it, or, worse, insist that it's due to a moral high group. That whatever it is isn't good because of some convoluted reason that overall just ends up being being a worse excuse than if the person just said "I don't like it cause I don't"
