hi simblr, it's my birthday today! virgo supremacy! I decided to share one of my favorite recolors i've ever made (finally!!!). I sticker-ed up the City Living keyboard and added some other fun swatches. There is a functional version for use with the City Living EP, and a non functional deco version for both the floor and the wall! More info + download below the cut!

DETAILS:

This is a recolor of the keyboard that came with City Living, and the deco mesh separated by @pixlmonster. Unfortunately this means CL is required, I'm sorry! I was hoping the deco versions would work without CL but they do not. Mesh by pixlmonster is included.

There are 19 swatches. The first 6 are the more unique sticker-ed swatches, and some of my personal favorites. Swatches 7-11 are more patterned recolors, and the last 8 swatches are from @pictureamoebae's fluoro-pop collection. Sometimes you just need a neon pink keyboard, y'know?

I'll be super honest: It's been a year since I first initially started this project and I didn't do a great job recording where I got all of the stickers used. I apologize. Some of them were in game assets already, found via petaluhsims' sticker sheets. Some were found via google/freepik and some came from other places that I'm sure I'm forgetting. I made the parental advisory + seattle grunge stickers on the first swatch myself. Simlish fonts were found via franzillasims' font masterpost. Thanks so much to all of the original sticker/pattern creators, all credit goes to them. I just compiled a bunch of stuff together.

Every year, the time period between Labor Day weekend and Halloween is jam packed with a million things that are all TOP PRIORITY and require my attention and presence.

I call it:

The Gauntlet

It happens regardless of what I *choose*. It happened when I worked in the Halloween industry and that made sense. It's Spooky Season.

It happened when I was in school, but that made sense; back-to-school stuff, marching band, first quarter orientation.

It happened the year after I quit working in Halloween.

It happened when I was working in a call center job.

To be fair, let's start with the fact that both of my parents, both my siblings, my partner, and his younger kid and I were all born in September. Plus, Virgos and Libras always find each other, so half or more of my friends circle also have September or October birthdays.

There is a regional SF/F convention that happens the first weekend of October. Until the Pandemic, I had attended every year since 1990.

My partner has two kids; their back to school stuff was always a big deal.

I've thrown Halloween themed events. (Parties, convention promotional events, masked balls, etc.)

October is the new favorite month for weddings now. (Can you come to my wedding? It's the weekend before Halloween, tee hee! NO.)

And there's a TON of things going on for Spooky Season that I want to do.

The local Ren faire changed their dates from May to September. Recently they shifted to September and October.

I fucking hate The Gauntlet. I hate it every year, but no matter what I try to strip out of it, the Universe conspires to jam more things onto my docket.

I bitch about it every year.

And yet, somehow this is always the season when everyone I know wants to talk to me. They want costume help, they want me to join in on a fun activity. They haven't talked to me in a year but suddenly want to discuss the upcoming convention.

I've blogged about this in the old LJ days. I've whined about it on this Hellsite. I've complained out loud to anyone who will listen. The Gauntlet is eternal. The Gauntlet is unyielding. The Gauntlet represents both the Rock and The Hard Place.

CELEBRATING THE COMPOSITIONS OF WAYNE SHORTER, JAZZ SPECTRUM on WGTE, 18 MARCH 2023

Last week’s show was all Wayne Shorter’s playing on many of these very same tunes as selected by the regular host. He was a wonderful saxophonist, playing with both Art Blakey and Miles Davis (and essentially their music directors/composers) in two of the finest bands of their eras.

On the shared notion that he is also in the next tier of jazz composers just below Ellington/Strayhord and Monk, I took the assignment of showing how the tunes breathe and have a life of their own in the hands of the ever evolving jazz community.

My method was to find interesting/favorite players take up these tunes. Often I relied on the Secondhand Songs website for suggestions. But I had some definite ideas, such as relying on Palladium, an ensemble organized by Jesse Markowitz that plays Wayne Shorter music and includes young heroes like Nicole Glover and Sean Mason. Then there’s both Shorter tunes on the Jimmy Rowles/Stan Getz desert istand album, The Peacocks. And, what to do with the Weather Report era? Easy, Christian McBride did one with his pianoless quartet, New Jawn, that nonetheless conveys all the keyboards and percussion.

That was my first set: Palladium’s ESP that includes Shorter’s own voice, Sightseeing, and Lester Left Town.

I first heard Palladium when they did all of Speak No Evil, so that was the next idea with an array of artists and ensembles assaying that brilliant album.

Sanctuary from Ingrid Jensen and Jason Miles, and, at the end of the night, Masqualero with Marc Copland addressed Shorter’s contribution to Miles’ Bitches Brew. And I closed with Sean Mason’s meditative solo piano version of Weather Report’s Palladium as yet another reflection on how the electric tunes are above all tunes with life beyond the production elements.

But mostly I dug into the Blakey and Miles era tunes from the likes of Dave Liebman/Richie Beirach in Quest, the Dave Douglas/Joe Lovano Shorter tribute band, George Cables, Mary Halvorson in Thumbscrew, Fred Hersch (a couple of times), Kenny Werner.

I took the liberty with the Song of the Week segment to make Footprints the Tune of the Week bookending the original with his return to it with his wonderful latter era quartet. There’s Kenny Barron in there along with the SF Jazz Collective (Renee Rosnes arranged the tune).

Hello guys, i'm @secretgardenbearpickle and these are my first ever astrology observations!🧚‍♀️

I'm still not as good as i'd wish, in no way i can compare myself to other astrology blogs around here, but they inspired me to take this first step.

I would like to mention @plutoswrath , @amazingwriter101, @astroismypassion and @venusfun, because they are the first blogs i ever followed and they got me introduced. (i love all the other blogs i follow though)

That was kind of a long introduction °-°

Here we go:

◇ Neptune in 3rd people probably remember their dreams well. Their dreams might contain known people like siblings, classmates, co-workers or known places such us their own home or school/workplace. My friend who has this placement dreams crazy SF scenarios about real life people we both know, the type of dreams that sound like kids book adventures.

◇ Doesn't matter if it's a venusian venus (taurus and libra), if it is unaspected, the things venus is in charge of (romance, preferences, aesthetics, fashion, money, etc.) usually don't play an important role in the person's life.

◇ I've noticed that not only pisces/12th house placements are sleep lovers. Taurus placements (especially venus), as well as cancer placements adore to sleep. It's literally a hobby for them.

◇ I know this is very often told, but children do usually have at least one of their big 3 placements (sun/moon/rising) the same as their parents (can be different order) or signs of the same ruler.

(1) e.g.: My dad has virgo rising and pisces sun/moon, my sister is a pisces moon and i am a virgo rising

(2) e.g.: One of my friends has scorpio and virgo sun parents, and he is an aries sun and gemini moon/rising (virgo/gemini are ruled by mercury; aries/scorpio are ruled by mars)

◇ Children also take the dominant energy of their parents

e.g.: My dad has a pisces stellium and i am a sagittarius stellium (both ruled by jupiter)

◇ Virgo risings really put a clean and goodie-pants facade, involuntarily most of the times, and they always trick people into thinking they are all about conformation and submission. Paired up with wilder placements such as sagittarius or aries, they are the definition of catfishes. (not in a bad way, of course)

◇ Sagittarius moons that are part of gen Z usually have their moon conjunct people's plutos. I've often noticed that these individuals are considered "interesting" and people tend to get fascinated by their thoughts and way of expressing and feeling things. They (sag moons) probably find something "special" in every relationship they have (whether romantic or not) because each of these relationships feel transformative (it's the fault of the plutonian connection).

This might also happen to other moons that form aspects with other people's pluto, but i noticed it mostly about tight conjunctions.

ts2 zodiac compatibility overhaul [download @ sfs]

apparently, editing the zodiac compatibility was much simpler than I thought, so here it is: making zodiac sign chemistry make sense once and for all.

before becoming a typology nerd, I was an astrology nerd, and the ts2 zodiac compatibility pisses me off to no end. but thanks to @midgethetree​ ‘s wisdom, we found out that editing zodiac compatibility is as simple as editing a BCON tuning.

with that in mind, I based the new compatibility chart based on...basic astrological knowledge (with a few tweaks).

sims of the same sign have no attraction (both signs compatibilities equal to 0) with each other. 

EAxis did this to dissuade people from creating clone personalities to game the chemistry system. this seems reasonable and I decided to retain it

sims with trine aspects (same element) have strong attraction to each other (both sign compatibilities = 1)

sims with sextile aspects (compatible element, i.e. fire/air and earth/water) have mild attraction (sign compatibility = 1 and 0, respectively)

sims with semi-sextile aspects (neighboring signs) have mild repulsion  (both signs compatibilities equal to 0)

sims with square aspects (incompatible element, same modality, i.e. fixed earth/fixed air) have strong repulsion (both sign compatibilities = -1)

sims with inconjunct aspects (incompatible element, different modality, i.e. cardinal fire/fixed water) also have no attraction (both signs compatibilities equal to 0) .

sims with opposing signs (aries/libra, taurus/scorpio, gemini/sagittarius, cancer/capricorn, leo/aquarius, virgo/pisces) have a push and pull attraction (signs compatibilities = 1 and -1, respectively)

Conflicts:

Anything that also edits the Attraction Constants BCON table. This table details the compatibility chart per zodiac sign and aspiration.

Born the 5th of 8 [surviving] children to 2 parents who can best be described as hippies (and consider the term complimentary). There were 9 Wilson children but the very youngest (Reed) passed in infancy.

Felt the crowdedness of growing up in a household of 10, but she never complained. Out of all their siblings, Juniper’s dubbed the most kind, helpful and selfless but they’re also the worst at standing up for herself and saying what she wants. She’s also inherited some (but not all) of her parent’s hippie and environmentally-conscious lifestyle.

Their biggest act of selfishness (in the sense of doing something for herself and her happiness) was making the move to San Francisco for college and studying business. Although her family all showed varied degrees of concern for her moving so far away, her younger brother, Robin showed heavy interest in branching out away from the family as well; neither harbor resentment or bitterness towards their family but both wanted some space.

Moved to SF with Robin after having gone to community college in Seattle, and doing extensive work to save money. Initially, the 2 rented a cramped apartment but after her work prospects increased and her brother found employment as a mortician’s apprentice, they rented a townhouse.

After graduating, working and interning, they took out a loan to purchase their own shop front in SF for a floral shop & nursery, calling it The Secret Garden named after one of her favorite movies.

Became unexpectedly pregnant while dating an ex whom they were on-and-off with for some time. The two had another child 2 years later and shortly after, called it quits once and for all. They have 50/50 custodial rights and have an amicable relationship now, no longer being together. Their kids are ages 4 and 18 mths as of Jan. 2024
