Today’s look for the (virtual) #IneffableCon was very, very casual (& comfy)! I watched the panels & popped into the “after hours” Zoom chat for a bit. 💖😇🐍 I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s panels—& very grateful that most of the panels are recorded for later viewing as there are a few time slots with multiple things I want to see … & others that are far too early for my timezone. I’ve entered my favourite picture of my #femmeAziraphalecosplay (the hotel snap where the hallway mirror lends a halo effect) in the cosplay contest! (I’m in the “Store-bought” category as “Hand-crafted” required making at least 70% of the cosplay & I only made the waistcoat, frock coat, & bow tie. Even my Nice & Accurate prop started life as a leatherette journal. I was originally going to update my cosplay by making a skirt—I currently use a pair of trousers borrowed from my mum—but I didn’t get to it. I do have a pattern, though! It’s the Mary Poppins-esque one from McCalls. We all miss the social aspects of tattooing and, although many of us are returning to work it’ll be a while before conventions come around again. What can we do in the meantime? The Virtual Tattoo Gathering is the first in a series of online events that I am co-hosting that are intended to bring artists and collectors together in a way that allows for at least some of that important interaction. There will be a “ballroom” with booths hosting webcams to tattoo studios where you can watch, browse portfolios and check out their newest t-shirts. There will be a main stage video feed for the public, with interviews, panels, critiques and product demonstrations. There will be some seminars for professionals only including a detailed covid safety class by Kris LeChance, a layering/rendering class with @burningxhope , an unprecedented technical seminar with @karibarba and an evening class on painting from@a reference with the amazing Shawn Barber. There will be a socializing area as well with chat groups for artists and collectors, an open Zoom meet and a Show Off Your Ink area.
