For the oc fact swap!! My character Mirka, has the power to manipulate emotions! Before she managed to control it, other's emotions would affect her, so she would just be mad/sad for no reason at all.
Ooh, this is so interesting! I’ve heard of emotion manipulators accidentally influencing other people’s emotions before they gained control, but never the other way around. Way to flip that on its head!
A lot of the SOLE characters, who also have powers, don’t have a lot of control when they’re emotional. Christian’s shoulders may start smoking, Beth creates a circle of involuntary frost around her, Matt may shatter mugs or glasses he’s holding, and Michael… who knows what will happen around that boy. His telekinesis isn’t exactly stable.

— ONE YEAR OF WRITEBLR —
oh my goodness !!
It’s been already a year (although I only started to use this blog by december) since I created @amongwriters ... I can’t believe it, I just genuinely can’t.
In this one year, which felt much shorter, I have met so many lovely and wonderful people and just can’t stop saying thank you.
thank you, thank you, thank you.
We nearly hit 4K as well (only roughly 40 are left) and this is just... immense. When I created this blog I couldn’t have imagined that i would even hit 200 hundert and now we have the twentyfold. Next to that, it’s not long ago that we hit 3k! You guys are wonderful, crazy angels!
To celebrate this bday, I have asked some of my mutuals what kind of celebration I could do and they had some amazing ideas!
— BLOG RATES AND EDITS —
I am going to give blog rates in the categories
- user url ; mobile theme ; pc theme ; posts *!!
In each category you can hit one to four stars, these stars add up and the sum is going to decide what gift you will get!
★★★★ 40 - 30.5 points
- the highest rate! If you hit it, you will get a “love letter” post, which sums up everything nice about your blog and a “what if my blog was a person” excerpt, in which I will try to write a scene about your blog-persona and how I would imagine them to act and look like.
★★★ 30 - 20.5 points
- second highest! If your points are between these, you will get a “love letter” post as well and an insta edit with your blog-Aesthetic.
★★ 20 - 10.5 points
- if your stars add up between 20 and 10.5, you will get a blog mood board!
★ <10 points
- If you don’t have the most beautiful blog ever, which is not bad at all, you will still get a little something, angel! You are able to choose one of my characters, who either fits you blog theme or yourself best, and I will write an excerpt of their POV especially for you!
— rules —
❥ one - you have to follow this little dreamer right here
❥ two - spread the word and reblog this post (likes don’t count)
❥ three - send me an ask with your preferred url which I am going to rate!
❥ four - be kind and polite, so I will as well. Remember that this is my honest opinion about if it’s aesthetically pleasing to me or not. Nothing what I am saying is against you, your personality or preference.
tagging some angels, so this doesn’t flop

OC ABCs: Seren
A: Aptitude
1. what are your oc’s natural abilities, things they’ve been doing since young?
Seren has always been a card player. She doesn’t know exactly how but she’s always known how to play certain games. Her adopted mother, Nadine told her it must have been her biological parents who taught her.
2. what activities have they participated in?
Cage fighting, gambling, spying
3. what abilities do they have that they’ve worked for?
Martial arts definitely. She didn’t know any when she was a teenager and brought to the Marciano house, but when she met Sebastian he slowly but surely turned her into a fighting machine.
4. what things are they bad at?
Anything tech. She has focused so much on physical aspects in her life that when comes to anything technical she can’t follow through.
5. what is their most impressive talent?
As with all Fighters, Seren can be alert and able to fight for days depending on the type of serum is given to her.

How Cuddleable Are Your OCs?
Cute tag game by @sunlight-and-starskies
Rules: for each of your OCs, rate how cuddleable they are on a scale of 1-10. Descriptions/elaborations are totally rad, but you do you, fam. Tag some people you like after!
Roman: 8/10 - Surprisingly this fearless gang leader and great Zombie Hunter who knows his way around physical fights and can use his powers in very offensive and dangerous way actually really enjoys hugs. Great sense for empathy and deeply integrated kindness, plus add his tendency to take responsibility for whomever he meets, he just senses when someone needs a hug.
Anine: 6/5 - Anine likes hugs and cuddles but only when she is in the mood and really likes the person. If she has had enough of people for one day, being an introvert and all, she will get irritated with affection of any kind.
Wes: 1/10 - Not a cuddly person. If you don't want to get your hands broken, stay away. He will touch you only when he has to. Hugs on very rare occasion when he is trying to stop you from something even more annoying like crying.
Iris: 10/10 - This little 6 years old hasn't yet found a reason what's not to enjoy about cuddling. Sure she is shy but she loves easily and will let you know for sure!

5 of the Worst Writing Advices
by Visionofwriters
The following article was graciously submitted by one of our followers when we called for it. If you would like to submit an article, please check out this post.
On Tumblr, it is very easy to find posts called "Writing Tips" or "Writing Advice". While most of these posts are trying to help you, some of the advice can be badly researched and will end up damaging your writing. Therefore, I've composed a list of 5 of the most popular (and worst) writing advice, to help you clear out some misinformation. Enjoy!
1. If it’s not relevant, cut it.
If you look closely into this one, it might actually be good advice. But most new writers take this as a sign to cut every single scene where their characters are talking/not talking about the plot.
Now imagine if J.K. Rowling had done that. The seven books would be short, and they would just contain Harry worrying about Voldemort. We would've never known Ron and Hermione tend to argue, or that Harry liked Cho. When you cut "irrelevant" scenes, you cut subplots and character development.
If you really feel like a scene doesn't have a point, ask yourself: Why did I write this scene? Why did I feel that it contributes to the plot?
2. Look at real dialogue/don’t look at real dialogue.
These are both very controversial pieces of advice in the writing community, because they're both right... and wrong.
If you just look at real dialogue for your writing, you will end up with something convoluted and confusing. In real conversations, people interrupt each other, change the theme of the conversation at random times, and forget what they were talking about. If you don't believe me, try this exercise: Record a conversation, and when you get home, try to pass it onto paper. You will end up with a conversation full of 'uh', 'like', 'um', and, most importantly: it will have no point, no plot, no theme.
But, if you completely ignore the way people talk, you end up with robots. All the characters are completely articulate and never stutter or make mistakes. It sounds like they're just bad actors reading a badly made script: it doesn’t sound natural.
Therefore, you should get to a middle ground. The characters interrupt each other, but still let one another speak. They use contractions and move their hands while they're talking. They're human.
3. If you have a writer's block, kill someone.
Let me get something clear: you should never kill a character when you're bored. The readers can see through this: you weren't in the mood to do anything, so you just killed someone. It lacks a point, and it doesn't add to the story.
If you do this, you will most likely end up with something like this: the group of characters are talking, and suddenly, one of them gets a heart attack and dies. The readers are confused, the characters are confused, and no one knows what's going on.
Only kill characters when it adds to the plot. Try to remember a character dying in a book. In most cases, it adds a lot of tension and it advances the plot dramatically, something you won't have with the previous heart attack scene.
4. ALWAYS show, never tell
“Show, don't tell” is a classic. It's the first tip you get from writers, and the first one you should have in mind when writing. But when you bring it to the extreme where you're never telling, it can be rather boring, and cartoonish.
If you show everything, you end up with long paragraphs with too many adjectives that most readers skip. It also related directly to the point of view: in first person, the protagonist would probably just think 'I'm nauseous' while in third person, you get something like 'their head was spinning, and they felt like they couldn't stand up' (bear with me, I'm not nauseous often).
Sometimes, telling can save you time (and readers). It is not easy to figure out where to tell and where to show but try to identify those long paragraphs we talked about before. If you're showing how this thing that happened in the character's backstory reminds them of a thing that's happening right now (or something along those lines) you might want to reconsider just saying 'this reminded them of this'.
5. Don't use Said.
We've all heard this one before. You should change said to growled, shouted, interrupted, or basically anything else that excuses you from writing an actual dialogue tag.
Lies! It doesn't matter if you have used said five times already: chances are, the reader is just skipping over them (that's a good thing here, don't worry). Using anything besides that will probably distract the reader from what the character is saying or doing.
If you do want to add some 'spice' into your dialogue, use body language. It will say the same thing you tried to say with "growled", except it will make it so the reader can imagine what's going on.

:D I love this scene!!
Barachiel’s jaw was still tense, but the lightning had vanished. “This isn’t going to be an in and out, done in an hour job. Neither of us have the backup to sweep this city, and the mutt-”
“Amara.” Cadoc didn’t even care what they called her. Watching Barachiel grind to a halt was entertainment enough to keep the same insistence as Aalis. He let his lips quirk up in a tiny smile.
Send Me A Number (1-169) and I’ll post a quote from my wip
