[Next Gen AU] Introducing the next generation of the Paladins of Voltron!

Under the tutelage of now-retired Paladin and Captain of the IGF-Atlas, Takashi Shirogane, five brave souls from all corners of the known (and unknown) universe come together to form the protector of the universe, and to continue the great work of the warriors before them.

Rummitz - Paladin of the Green Lion, She/He

A resourceful tactician of questionable origins. Initially discovered her bond with the Green Lion on the planet Olkarion during a support drop-off by now-retired Paladin Pidge Holt.

Rummitz's connection to the Green Lion sparked a three year long expedition to find and train the next Paladins of Voltron.

Taya - Paladin of the Yellow Lion, He/They

Hailing from the peaceful planet of Puig, Taya is known for their courage and tenacity. His bond with the Yellow Lion was discovered during a short stop at Puig, where the a festival was held in Voltron's honor.

Xyzy - Paladin of the Red Lion, She/They

Calm, calculating but quick to strike, Xyzy was rescued from a Galra prison ship where she was arrested after being found to have given crucial information about one of Emperor Zarkon's experiments to the Blade of Marmora. They were later taken in by the Garrison and made their connection with Keith Kogane, and subsequently the Red Lion.

Aries - Paladin of the Blue Lion, She/Her

Less of a sharp shooter, more of a pound-into-dust sort of gal, but don't take that to mean she's dull - a sharp wit and an even sharper glare might make you want to stay on your toes.

Aries made her connection with the Blue Lion after an accident at the Garrison that injured her right leg. She spent the months healing in the aircraft hangers talking to pilots and dreaming she'd one day get to be one herself.

Yohe - Paladin of the Black Lion, It/They

Unexplained and inexplicable, this eerily quiet bundle of quintessence is certain they're the last of their kind, but it doesn't remember anything before the time it woke up from it's pod that crash landed onto Earth.

It's connection with the Black Lion is fuzzy at best. Something blocks the two from truly connecting, which causes problems for the team when they're in a tight spot and could really use the full power of Voltron.

I may have been rethinking on my past VLD next gen/ship kids, primarily Pidge and Hunk’s kids. Don’t get me wrong, I still love Zeke and Molly. I want to draw them more, but I think I’ve been coming up with different headcanons for Pidge and having a family ever since I’ve realized last year that I’m asexual. (Like I did technically come out when I was 12 or so but I forgot and it all came back to me as an adult lesbian. 😭)

With my experiences, Pidge as asexual or demisexual just made more and more sense to me, but they would still want a domestic life with Hunk and having a family like her own. Pidge would probably feel really guilty about talking about it, but her family, Hunk and the rest of the Paladins would still be supportive. 💪💕

I’m thinking instead, possibly they both agree get a trusted surrogate to make that happen. (Probably with the tech in Voltron, idk somehow they twins would still inherit most of their parents traits without Pidge having to carry them.)

Just wanted to talk about that as I’ve been thinking on it a lot. 😭

Summary:

Allura's father died a month before she graduated high school. That is not relevant to this story. (It's not.) Allura has been looking forward to her first semester of college for ages, and she has it all planned out from her major to extracurricular to her dorm room aesthetic. Except… Nothing in is turning out the way she had planned. Boringly easy classes, difficult peers, unfulfilling clubs… And who is this Shiro with understated snark and more secrets than meets the eye?

Chapter 1 is up!

Behold! The long-promised Allura-centric fic for the foster care au! Total fic is 5 chapters. I have them all written out and edited and am aiming to update every other days. Big thanks to @headspacedad to beta-ing for me and assuring me this is a story worth sharing!

Character tidbits from Moony's Voltron Iteration! (A.k.A Voltron Next Gen)

The paladins names:

Black Paladin: Julie she/her, human

Red Paladin: Seth he/him, no one knows what he is actually… ;)

Blue Paladin: Lun she/her (same race as the girl who stole the blue lion edit; Nyma)

Green Paladin: Sinqaik he/him (Galra)

Yellow Paladin: Dinor she/her (Same race as Gyrgan)

Julie's eyes are jet back, just like her hair.

Seth's has a strip running across his face from cheekbone to cheekbone.

Lun is blue, funnily enough

Sinqaik has white scleras and is almost completely mute, he can only make some breathless noises.

Dinor is a softer color than most of her race because she lived in a cave system for most of her life

Oh and all of them most definitely have autism.

All of them have a lasting injury on the limb that their lion represents. They got them when they bonded with their lions. Julie has scar from flying debri on the back of her head which left her with chronic pain. Seth took a laser gun to the right arm and now has nerve damage. Lun lost her leg to a falling boulder. Sinqaik got his arm pressed in a rift between two rocks and the blood flow got cut, loosing all feeling in that arm, but can still move it a little. Dinor had a fractured leg for too long and now needs a crutch to walk

The castle's crew:,

There's four alteans taking care of The Castle of Lions 2.0.

Three of them share a body, they have DID. Ilti (he/him, introjec of a childhood friend, internal self helper), Tivi (she/her, gatekeeper, protector), Otiana (she/her, host, core) the system's name is The Crew since they decided it sounded cool. The Crew's markings change color depending on who's fronting at the moment. Ilti is blue, Tivi is purple and Otiana is maroon.

The fourth Altean is Antia (she/her),, and she is definitely not paid enough for this. She is a descendant of one of Alfor's fifth cousin, so she has the Royal White Hair™, she doesn't even know her parents though. Has CPTSD, raised in an orphanage and lived in the streets for a while. Met The Crew while sneaking into the claste during a storm.

The Big Bad Villain:

It's a corporation/lab called Planetary Corp. Basically what it does is that they take invaluable relics and extract the quintessence from them to power super weaponry. They basically have the universe in their hands, not because they are an empire, but because they control who and when gets weapons. The leader of this corporation is a human called Andrew Lecels. He does NOT have a reason to be evil he is just greedy and bitter and hates fun basically (average rich person).

So that's that! Soon enough I'll come back with the first chapter, how soon? Soon ;)
