Q: The character is preparing Christmas cookies + Meridians, lift the veil of secrecy: do you celebrate the New Year? Maybe you have some special winter traditions?

The prince celebrated the last major holiday (Halloween) in prison. But for the New Year, Queen Elyon decided to give her brother a chance to reform. And taking all precautions, she moved him to Earth to introduce him to local traditions.

Not that Prince Phobos was thrilled. However, he liked it even less behind bars. So far everything is going relatively peacefully, but the difference in worldview makes itself felt :D

P.S. According to Caleb, the Meridians hold a similar holiday not in the middle, but at the end of winter - on the last day of the season. And they actually roast a bull (information taken from the episode "Happy Birthday, Will").

Of course, this may be an analogue of Maslenitsa, and not New Year. Here we can only guess. The timing is not an exact guide.

For comparison, in ancient Russia the New Year was first celebrated as on Meridian (late February-early March). At this moment, the earth began to awaken and the Sun began to gain strength. After the baptism, the celebration was moved to September 1st. And already under Peter I the New Year moved to the familiar January 1st.

About the festive sacrifice is already my headcanon. But it fits quite harmoniously into the realities of dark fantasy. In a world where there is magic and dangerous monsters, you will once again wonder whether some ritual is really a beautiful tradition/superstition, and not a guarantor of safety.

And the Meridians really like it (especially if the sacrifice can then be fried and eaten during the celebration) :D

live action reboot for witch is unfortunately happening.

at this point i don't even know who it is for, considering witch isn't a well known series by the younger and newer generation unless they had siblings who have told them about it or seen documentaries on yt, or edits/amvs.

avatar is coming back as an animated series again, and like. this was disney's answer to it. wouldn't the smart answer be to have it be animated again.

Oh I didn't know that w.i.t.c.h. was getting the LA treatment, if it really is then I'm surprised since Disney doesn't really acknowledge it. It's okay to be upset about it, though if for any one reason the fact that it's not well known or popular is a good reason for a reboot or new show/movie adaptation. It brings new life to a franchise and gets new eyes on it protecting it from becoming lost media. But I can understand being upset, I bet a lot if not most fans (I mean me haha) want a continuation of the cartoon or new animated series with a fresh start that cleans up the OG comics while being faithful to it. (tbf I think the only way Avatar can be continued is in animated form, I don't think fans would receive anything else with grace (again me). But as a property ALTA/LoK can done well in LA, its really not hard to imagine.) I don't understand why they would want to make it in LA though, it's nearly impossible to cast (since the art is so stylized and human kids age unlike cartoons) and budget constraints already mean a lot of the magic and whimsy has to go. I can't imagine they'd bother with effort in the costuming or using practical effects. So all these cool monster characters will just be human people 99% of the time. In like...a shirt and pants... Though I haven't read the reboot comic since there's no English version I can get my hands on, I imagine that's what's on the table to be adapted. Though if the og is still on the table the possibility of needing to double cast characters for the civilian child and guardian teenager/young adult sounds like a nightmare. Either they keep it and make it weird, make them teenagers making it weird, or they stay kids also making it weird because it really only works as a fun girly power fantasy if it stays animated. So yes, imo w.i.t.c.h. would be best served animated, it would be the smartest choice. And double triple yes you're valid for being upset and tired of this. "Girl" media gets treated horribly and magical girl stuff especially. We deserve a win and I have heavy doubts we'd get a quarter of the thought and effort PJO got 🥺😔

I know I'll regret this but I did it last year and it was fun - also, I'd like to practice a bit more with traditional art soooo... here we go, the ask box is open for fanart requests!

What's this: these are not commissions. I do this for practicing, in my free time (which is not much), and for free, so if I don't want to do a request or I don't have time or it takes me ages, don't take it personally

i’ve been watching w.i.t.c.h bc it’s a show i used to love when i was a kid and it’s so so good and made me think that kit would definitely enjoy it! like he’d find it so fun - the humour, the cool outfits, the magic powers and evil rulers of kingdoms, yeah i think kit would have a blast with w.i.t.c.h (plus ik he probably loves watching cartoons <3)!

i also think kit got ty hooked on pjo and they’re reading the series together! and when they get to hoo, kit will certainly try to force ty into cosplaying nico and will with him, and it will be the greatest thing to ever exist i’m telling u… let that sink in

At Any Cost is a W.I.T.C.H. one-shot that's second in a canon-divergent series about what if, after obtaining Nerissa's seal, Phobos had simply split it back into its two original components, returning the Heart of Zamballa and only keeping the Heart of Meridian for himself, thus reclaiming the throne. I don't have too much written for this one unlike parts one and three that are almost complete lmao go figure

“I didn’t betray anyone,” he states. “I swore not to use Nerissa’s seal for myself, and I haven’t. I never said anything about the Heart of Meridian. I have kept my side of our bargain; will you keep yours?” Will hears Irma start to shout in protest and -- “I wasn’t talking to you.” His words are as rude as usual and his voice is as cold as ever, and he didn't even bother to look at the person he was addressing; his eyes have been trained on her this whole time. Will clenches her jaw and her fists, briefly, and then sighs. She is so damn tired. “Fine,” she relents. “However -- I’m coming with you to Meridian. In my capacity as leader of the Guardians of Kandrakar, I want to oversee the transfer of the throne to ensure it goes smoothly. You wouldn’t deny me that, would you?” She throws Zambala’s pendant to Cornelia, along with a request to work on removing everyone from inside, as she walks -- stomps, more like -- towards Phobos and the portal he's opened. There is a loud, predictable cacophony -- objections to her going with him, objections to his claim; objections, all around. She barely hears it, over the beating of her heart and the pounding in her head, though her mouth makes automatic reassurances to everyone that she’ll be fine. “I wouldn’t dream of it, my dear,” Phobos replies, smirking, taking a mock bow and stepping aside. “After you.”

Resistance is a VLD fic set pre-series, which really only needs a firm hand of editing to be ready to post!

“Prince Lotor.” Lotor whirled around, drawing his blaster in one smooth move and pointing it at the source of the voice. His father’s information broker. “How did you find me?” he asked, weapon still trained on her. “Child’s play,” she replied. “If you really want to operate under the emperor’s radar, you’re going to have to do better.” Lotor frowned, ears flattening, the points of his teeth starting to show. “What do you want?” “For the moment? Safe harbor.” He cocked his head and raised a brow. “I’m on the run from the empire,” she said. “Oh, please,” he scoffed. “Do spare me the tales.” “It’s true,” she insisted, oddly calm for her predicament. “You are well beyond the reach of the Central Command Ship’s transmissions here, but if you pull up the logs on the fighter I flew in on, you will see there is a bounty on my head.” With a motion of a single hand, Lotor assigned one of the sentries in the room to go corroborate this information for him. He turned his attention back to her. “And what could you have possibly done to warrant that?” “I met with your father; spoke with him, even. The last time I’d seen him was when I had been a hopeful young recruit on Daibazaal and he visited the flight academy.” She shifted her weight from one leg to the other. “I’d heard rumors, of course; and had my own reservations about that witch that he's picked up.” Lotor slowly lowered his blaster until it hung loosely by his side, the surprise of being caught off-guard beginning to ebb away. “But with the planet’s destruction, the empire’s needs had me running mission after mission, far away from headquarters. My work required me to be constantly on the move, confirming my network, never having direct contact with the empire. I didn’t have much time to really think about what I was doing -- the empire needs quintessence on a massive scale, that much is certain -- until now,” she said, voice taking a hard edge. “I heard about the mining colony from one of my agents. I visited headquarters in person, uninvited. That is not the man I swore allegiance to.” Carefully, with painstakingly slow movements, she lowered her hood and removed her mask and looked him straight in the eye, chin raised. “I refused him and his witch any further services.” “You can’t honestly expect them to give up on hunting you,” Lotor replied, after taking a few moments to chew on her story. “You know too many of their empire’s secrets.” “Of course not. I’m a danger to them.” “And to me.” She smiled. “I don’t have to be.”

Q: Phobos, do you remember when your magic first manifested itself? Tell us Q: So what actually happened to your parents?

Answer: 1) Magic? It was enchanting. It was as if I was born blind, and at that moment I received my sight. And I saw the world in all its splendor. 2) True, it was somewhat... destructive. 3) Mother didn’t appreciate it.

Have you seen W.I.TC.H. the tv show (it’s available in full on youtube)? I think you’d really enjoy it!! The premise is a little basic, elemental magical girls, but the character development and the plot (especially in season 2, start there if you’d like) are so clever and driven, and the writing is superb! There are the familiar devices that might appeal to children, like with parallel story telling to reach a common “moral of the story” (think Arthur the pbs show) but considering the foreshadowing and little details and setup, the writing is something an adult would really enjoy! This is perhaps my third time watching it, but each episode is still so good, I notice new elements in the story every time

Hi dear, nice seeing you here ;) and oh gosh, you brought back so many memories!

When I was a kid, every afternoon I sat in front of the TV for a couple hours to watch kids' cartoons. And since there was no Internet, I had to choose which channel to watch and, therefore, which shows to watch.

And when W.I.T.C.H. was airing, at the same time Winx was airing on another channel. Since I was lucky enough to watch Winx from episode 1, I didn't want to drop it and move to another series, that was already started and going on.

However, I've always been curious about W.I.T.C.H. and your opinion makes it sound very, very intriguing. Maybe I'll finally give it a try. I know it's basically 20 years more or less but hey, better late than never ;)

Yes, of course I've read it :) Here's my copy next to the first one!

My thoughts about it, hmmm... As a first remark, it was less pages and no extras at all (and! no sparkling cover!), but it doesn't really matter.

I must confess I did not like it much, and it has nothing to do with it being different from the original - I'm absolutely in peace with it and I treat the thing as a new product. But even taken as a new product, I found the story somewhat rushed again and I didn't even entirely understand what was going on. (Which makes me feel very stupid, since it says the target age is 6+...)

It was very much detached from the story of the first volume, which is a pity because there could have been something interesting related to the new version of Metamoor perhaps. I also had the feeling that some background was missing, because the first volume ended with this (also rushed) allegedly huge and profound friendship among the girls (including Elyon, who is barely mentioned in the second volume), and in the second volume we're thrown in a completely different situation where the group is falling apart.

Just like with the first volume, perhaps if the story was told in a more ample space, that is, in an arc of more volumes instead of packing everything in 90 pages, the story and the characters would have felt a bit more fleshed out and the final effect would be more enjoyable.

But I have a positive note about this second volume: I found the art very nice to look at, there are some panels that are really beautiful.

As a side thought, I think that in general if the first and foremost target is the Italian public, to which I belong, it would be much more profitable if they would target the people who are actually going to buy these products in the end. These people are not the preteens that they seem to target, but the people in their thirties like me, who used to read the comic twenty years ago and are still there for the nostalgia. But well, now the thing is done so if we want something targeted to adults we can only create it ourselves through fanart and fanfiction, which is not that bad if you ask me :)

What is your favorite Fairy form in Winx Club?

I'm old school so I'm gonna say Enchantix. The way that the fairies had to earn them really tied well into the plot! And the Enchantix designs are superior to all of the other power-ups in my opinion. The show should have stopped there but I understand that they had to make more for marketing reasons.

Who would you say is your favorite character and your favorite ship in W.I.T.C.H.?

1. Fav character

- Elyon. She has the power to create *and* destroy. The way she approaches magic like she does her art, pretending to erase something and it disappears blew my lil 7-yo mind - none of the others’ elemental magic came even close.

Ofc if you tell me to choose from the Guardians alone, then Will. My favorite little crybaby with self-esteem issues <3

2. Fav Ship

- My absolute favorite is Elyon x Caleb. Which surely would’ve upset my friends growing up who never got over Caleb and Cornelia breaking up; but I quite enjoyed their implied growing closer-ness, and when the Caleb special dropped, I was over the moon. There’s always been something about how like… sure, Cornelia dreamt of him first, but Elyon’s magic helped Caleb go from whisperer to person with his own will; without her, he would not exist as he is. And something about that just… interests me. It’s a very unique angle.

I also very much enjoy Cornelia x Peter and their will they, won’t they dynamic, Taranee and Nigel’s bully and bully victim story, Orube and Cedric’s mutual bitchy banter, and ofc my lil child self could not get enough of Will and Matt’s drama
