Hey, it's been a while.

i get worried that people on here don't know that i used to have the most wonderful little dog 🧡 he had intervertebral disc disease & had 3 surgeries on his spine so he walked like a drunk guy, but he walked. he could run when he wanted to, & he wasn't in pain, but he was a lazy snuggly boy & mostly just wanted to nap with you & have his chest rubbed. he hated rain & loved cucumber. he loved making a nest out of pants; whenever i took him anywhere i'd bring a spare pair of my pants for him to nest in. whenever he was especially cozy or happy he'd grunt like a pig. his puppy days were a little rough (i didn't adopt him until he was 5 years old) so he didn't know how to play with toys, & he wasn't very confident with other dogs, but if you threw a blanket over his head he'd play blanket monster & chase you around. when i was in vet tech school he used to help me with my homework by patiently letting me explain his musculoskeletal anatomy to him. then other times i'd bring him to class & he'd wander around getting pets from everyone before taking a shit in the corner.

i'd like to think his life was pretty good despite his disease (genetic & outstandingly common in dachshunds) & the 3 times he went paralyzed; i know he hurt sometimes but i did everything i could to make sure he experienced as little pain as possible. he made it to 16 after all.

i named him waldi after the rainbow dachshund that was the mascot of the 1972 olympics. he was my best friend & i miss him every day, but i'm so grateful to have had 11 great years with him. 🌈

Waldi a été la première mascotte officielle de l'histoire des Jeux Olympiques d'Été, en 1972 à Munich. C'est un teckel, animal très populaire en Bavière, réputé pour son endurance, sa ténacité et son agilité. Cinquante ans plus tard, Waldi a repris du service dans la capitale bavaroise, alors que c’est un écureuil Gfreidi qui est mascotte officielle des Championnats d'Europe multisports Munich 2022 qui se déroulent du 11 au 21 août. L'athlétisme est l'un des neuf sports au programme des Championnats européens. Le jury du concours de mascottes a choisi l'écureuil avec une "touche bavaroise" car c'est un animal populaire commun dans toute l'Europe. Mes voisins d'étage : l'écureuil et le mûrier platane. Les animaux servent de muse pour les créateurs  de mascottes des événements sportifs. Il me semble que l'écureuil,  associé à la Caisse d'épargne,  n'a jamais été lié à un grand événement sportif  avant Munich 2022.
