Chaol Westfall. The way he struggled with killing Cain for so long even though Cain was a terrible person and was going to kill Celaena. The way he is forced to kill regularly but is never desensitized to it. The way he was destroying himself in Tower of Dawn, trying so hard to walk so he could fight and die beside his men again. The way he struggled and succeeded to overcome the prejudices he was taught in his youth about people because he's a strong and brave and kind person, and wound up with the most powerful magical woman in the series, signifying his overcoming of his magic phobia. The way he never gave up on Dorian, was utterly loyal to his king even when he was under valg possession and everyone thought he should be killed. The way he knows himself, his good qualities and his bad qualities, and loathes himself because he think he failed. But he never failed. He tried his hardest but he's just one man. Even though he thought he failed, he never stopped trying. Because ultimately, his loyalty was to Dorian, his country Adarlan, and to his wife Yrene. And he lived for them. He lived for the dream of a better Adarlan that he never gave up on even when his former love said it should be burned to the ground. And finally, his faith was rewarded. Finally, everything was as it was meant to be. All hail Chaol Westfall. Hand to the King of Adarlan, husband to Yrene Westfall, and the best written character in Throne of Glass.

Syd's pink pants and notes on color theory
So I got a comment on my fic (chapter 3) about my use of the color pink. For context: The scene in the fic features Carmy having a distracted internal monologue while in a therapy session in which he thinks about his plans to meet up with Syd after. He mentions the pink cargo pants she wore in s2e2. Later on in the fic, he mentions pink again while on the brink of a panic attack.
Anyway, I got a comment today mentioning the use of pink as a symbol for something, which reminded me of why I used it as a literary device in the first place.
I remember watching s2e2, seeing Syd's pink cargos, and being OBSESSED with the juxtaposition. Carmy is such a heavy character. He's usually wearing dark, muted, or plain colors to reflect that. It's a very utilitarian, no fun, no-nonsense kind of look.
Carmy's apartment is equally as bleak. No color, no decorations, almost no personality. It's clearly just the place he sleeps at. And one can imagine that Carmy's apartment isn't a place of refuge for him either. Like, imagine dealing with the aftermath of your estranged brother's suicide, it's a shit show, you come home to an empty apartment, and you wake up and do it again. There's no warmth or homeyness. Syd notices the first time she comes over too.
So the fact that Syd came into his personal space wearing such a quintessentially soft, gentle, and comforting color felt like an intentional choice by the costume department. Like there is nothing more airy and playful than a pink pant!! Plus a fun patterned tote, and a blue bag!! She brings such a brightness to the scene, and (by extension) Carmy's world. She breathes life into an otherwise lifeless space. It's also the first time we see Carmy truly relaxed in his own space, and it's because of the energy and aliveness Syd adds to it.
Anyway, I wanted to portray Carmy as subconsciously associating those adjectives with Syd. Like even as he's on the brink of a panic attack, Syd cuts through the heaviness with her pink pants. Her pinkness grounds him!!!

it’s the office anon again your response in fueling my delusion 😭 (don’t stop) - putting them in mundane settings and letting them be - them - is so satisfying. Imagine an office birthday party. One of the most bland, neurotypical settings possible. While everyone sings happy birthday Evan stands at the back and stares unblinkingly at the person whose birthday it is. They can feel his gaze but they’re afraid to meet it. Barty hocks down like 4 slices of cake and when he tries to offer Evan some he gets a 15 minute lecture about why birthday cake is actually evil incarnate and should not be consumed by anyone ever. Barty listens to the whole thing and then proceeds to throw his own slice of cake out the window and starts making the rounds to confiscate everyone else’s bc it’s offending Evan!! And if we wanna talk about James - Barty goes for his slice and sweet, cheery, optimistic James punches him square in the fucking jaw for trying to touch his food. Evan is not watching any of this he left after he finished speaking so he could resume staring blankly at the wall of his cubicle.
rosekiller showing up to every workplace event looking like this. barty stole the entire plate of the plastic-wrapped grocery hors d'oeuvres that evan liked and they're squatting under a table in the break room, eating them together.

Irondad fic ideas #152
Every year around the holidays, a "bug war" breaks out in the Parker-Stark households
Not bugs as in creepy crawlies. Technology bugs. Surveillance.
Tony and Peter are both determined to figure out what the other wants for the holidays
The two are on surprisingly even ground: Peter's spider-sense doesn't consider this a threat, and FRIDAY won't snitch. They both have to find any "bugs" the old fashioned way.
Bonus:
Soon enough the whole Ironfam is wrapped up in it. November and December become a time of yearly paranoia, everyone watching what they say and "checking for bugs."
Even Peter's friends discover tiny bugs on them. When Ned first learns the itty bitty robot behind his coat button is from Tony Stark trying to find out what he wants for Christmas he faints on the spot
Bonus 2, Crack Taken Seriously Boogaloo:
For a bit of drama: it's all fun and games until one year Peter gets kidnapped. The situation is bad. They only find him in time thanks to one of the "holiday bugs" Tony recently snuck on
