@anonymous-tals requested headcanons about the Bluth siblings as kids, so here's some of that! It gets long, so I'm putting most of it under the cut.
They had family game nights. George started mandating them so he could get photos and publicize them as a happy family but the kids actually got really into it and kept playing board games together even once their parents ducked out.
Lindsay was George’s little princess, especially as a preteen and teenager. He wasn’t always the best at showing it in ways other than buying her things, but he loved that girl so much.
Oscar came by for every single one of Buster’s birthdays, and he brought little presents. He wasn’t nearly as good at remembering the other kids, but nobody read too deep into it. Blatant favoritism is normal in this family.
Speaking of birthdays, Michael and Lindsay always got the best birthday parties because they had to share. Also because they were George’s favorites, but the sharing was the excuse everyone actually said out loud.
GOB’s birthdays tended to go forgotten or ignored by his parents, but Buster has never once forgotten him, Lindsay was usually pretty good about at least being around and wishing him a good one, and Michael would organize little celebrations if Buster bugged him about it. Which he always did, and which Michael always got to feel like a hero for.
I’m not getting into the whole “who pushed Mimi down the stairs” thing cause I know what canon was going for but I also just don’t think Buster would do that. However I DO think the whole “I’m just a boy so nothing will happen to me” was VERY ingrained in him from very early on cause when he was actually little Lucille couldn’t bring herself to ever be upset with him. She could mistreat him, sure, but always out of some twisted form of protective love.
Because of this, Buster took the blame for a lot of shit his siblings fucked up. Lucille usually didn’t believe he did it, and it usually got shifted to GOB, but Michael and Lindsay at least got a few freebies by saying Buster did it and getting him to corroborate.
GOB had frequent hyperfixations and the bees and magic special interests have been on and off since he was pretty young. Buster never found him annoying. Michael did but was good at more or less hiding it for the sake of being a good brother. Lindsay would tell him to shut up.
Buster also had frequent hyperfixations but his were on things like medieval farming and ancient Mesopotamia and learning a new language and other Scholarly Pursuits so he wasn’t treated like he was annoying, he was treated like he was a very intelligent young man with a bright future in academia. Or a loser and a nerd, depending on who you’re talking to.
One time, and I mean literally ONE TIME, Lindsay asked George if he had a favorite child and he sarcastically said “Of course I do. It’s GOB.” assuming everyone would get that he was dodging the question by answering a kid who was most definitely not his favorite. GOB didn’t get that he was being sarcastic and was the happiest boy alive for about twelve seconds before both of his parents started laughing so hard they cried.
I need to stop being mean to GOB. Here’s something nice for him: he was surprisingly popular in school, and even though he never made any real friends he could usually get strangers to high five him in the halls. People chanted his name at lunch sometimes if he stood on a table to do his illusions. He got bad grades but people thought that was badass.
Buster would have full blown panic attacks at any grade lower than an A. Even an A minus would have him crying on the floor. This is projection but it’s also true.
Lindsay was homecoming court every year of high school and prom queen her senior year. GOB was prom king. Micheal and Buster were never anything like that.
Buster has always been GOB's biggest fan and would beg him to do illusions or tell bee stories or just be himself but with an audience of one. GOB pretended to think his little brother was lame but he secretly loved the attention and they still have that special bookend sibling bond. GOB was (and still kinda is) Buster's hero and Buster was (and still kinda is) GOB's baby brother. The fondness in the phrase "baby brother" is hard to explain to people who don't have a sibling with a 6+ year age gap but trust me, if anything happened to Buster in their childhood, GOB would be immediately up in arms.
I have a lot more thoughts, actually, but this is getting super long so I’ll stop here for now!

im 6 years post-high school graduation and the steady stream of people who turned out not to be straight has yet to cease!
#LOVE that for my former classmates#its absolutely crazy to reflect back on high school#bc there were of course signs and things that would indicate these people (and me lol) wouldnt end up being straight#but even at our high school which i think really was progressive at least to the point where people were openly gay and none of us cared#thinking back. all of the ‘out’ kids in high school were kind of the kids who were already weird or not so popular or on the fringes#so its like what did they have to lose about acknowledging one more thing that made them different#and all of the kids who are coming out post-high school are the ones who were more ‘popular’ or ‘normal’ or w/e dumb way we thought of it#like the guy who just came out on instagram today from my high school#was a HUGE deal#like on the soccer and swimming team#was in all of the advanced classes and in all of the influential clubs and shit#was definitely on prom/homecoming court a few times#had tons of friends#and just came out eight years (for him) after graduating#and in his post he talked about how he’s literally known he was gay since sophomore year#of HIGH SCHOOL#and i spent a really long time thinking about how things mightve gone if he came out in high school#and if things wouldve been better or worse for him#and then about me in high school#and how i think maybe im glad i didnt come out (or even realize i was gay) in high school#i dont really have a point to this beyond like.#sexuality is insanely complicated and nuanced and the layers to navigating sexuality through different stages of our lives#is unending

don't know how you feel about them but for headcanons... chrissy and eddie would've definitely been such a sweet couple! chirssy would 110% be a slow dnd learner but she'd do it for eddie and eventually become a crucial member of the hellfire club and maybe even help him dm! she'd definitely go through his music tapes, even if she doesn't love them all, and eddie would come to every sort of game to see chrissy cheer and go to prom with her even though he thinks it's dumb just to see her smile :) okay carry on
LISTEN this is everything to me, I am so very upset that we were robbed of this adorable pairing in canon. I'm such a sucker for that whole opposites attract vibe, and their short little scenes together really showcased how powerful and sweet and wonderful that dynamic can be.
I feel like there'd be a really awkward period at the start, y'know? Because they come from different circles and are both super well known in the school for very different reasons. Chrissy would probably be ostracized; at the very least, her friends would feel weird around her. Can you imagine the sorts of things they've probably said about Eddie? They'd be shocked. And that's when she starts hanging around Hellfire, because Eddie is there and in those first days he is really the only person she feels comfortable around.
But I doubt the D&D'ers are without their own prejudices. I mean, they've likely all been picked on by Chrissy's crowd, so they feel a little wary around her. Eddie assures her that everything is going to be okay. He even stays up late with her to help her build her character (she'd be a sorcerer; I cannot explain why she just gives me that vibe) and teach her how to play. He makes up little starter campaigns for her that they do together, just the two of them, and sure she doesn't get all of it, but it's a distraction from how weird her life feels on all fronts and she loves how excited Eddie gets when he's showing her the ropes. They listen to his music and drink cheap beer and play into the night and she's honestly so, so happy.
When Eddie brings her to the club for her first official campaign, everyone still isn't quite sure of her, and that makes her nervous, which makes her mess up more than a few times. It's Dustin and Mike and Lucas who come to her defense, because they know what it feels like to be the odd ones out and they want her to feel included. Dustin specifically becomes one her fiercest advocates, because he loves Eddie and Eddie loves Chrissy, which means that Dustin loves Chrissy, too. She becomes like a big sister to him. It's all very cute.
And when Chrissy starts to settle into this new normal, she absolutely drags Eddie into school dances and volunteering him for planning committees, and while none of it is quite his thing, he loves seeing her in her element, and he wants to be there every step of the way. He starts planning Hellfire Club meetings around the sports schedules because you bet your ass he's going to be at every basketball and football game to watch her cheer. When the sound system at the homecoming dance craps out, Eddie's the one to fix it, because Chrissy's on the homecoming court and he wants to make sure that everything goes perfectly for her.
Oh, and when Eddie tells Chrissy that his number one goal is to graduate? She makes a full plan to get him in that cap and gown. We're talking study sessions, late night cramming, Saturdays in the library. She quizzes him on the ride to school and, when she helps him write D&D campaigns, she sneaks in schoolwork without him even noticing - a literary reference here, a quadratic equation there (Dustin notices and appreciates the academic tenor of the campaigns, of course, especially when Chrissy is sneaking in science facts to make sure they stick in Eddie's brain before the big test).
I COULD GO ON FOREVER, GOD WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN.

i wrote something!!
soooo I’m a pathological “i have a fic idea and i’m never going to write it or I write a few pages and then fall off” writer buuuut I had this very cute idea and wrote 4k words of it! I wanted to post it here before ao3 because 1) not sure if I’m a fan of starting a multichapter WIP because I still may abandon it like my other stuff 2) i want feedback before i continue!!
here’s the gist: it’s princess prom except it’s a high school au and princess prom is actually homecoming. Adora is very happy and supportive of Glimmer and Bow running for king/queen. Glimmer is very, very passionate about winning. The problem is they’ve naturally got competition, in the form of Perfuma (who is equally as passionate about winning, for her own reasons) and her new girlfriend Scorpia. In a sitcom-style mishap, Adora sort of accidentally signs up to run as well...with Catra, Scorpia’s best friend who Adora doesn’t not have a crush on. The two decide to go through with it with the intention of getting eliminated from the race as soon as possible. Then, their friends come up with a different plan for them.
so, take a read below at 4k of stupidity and let me know what you think, and if you would be interested to read more :) (fyi there is a lot of swearing lol)
“I’M GONNA BE THE QUEEN!”
Adora shrieks, flailing her arms and almost knocking her lamp over in the process. She whirls around in her desk chair to face the intruder, arms raised in karate chop form (she does not know any martial arts), and finds Glimmer, who has flung her bedroom door open and has that crazed Glimmer look in her eyes that only means trouble.
“Fuck! Glimmer, you can’t just sneak up--wait, how did you get in my house?!”
“Didn’t you hear what I said?! Also, the door was unlocked,” Glimmer replies, kicking off her shoes and launching herself onto Adora’s bed, which she had just painstakingly made.
Adora presses her hand into her face, sighing. “I was kind of busy trying not to piss myself. Haven’t you heard of knocking? What if I was, you know...” she says, gesturing vaguely.
Glimmer rolls her eyes. “Please, Adora. It’s nothing I haven’t seen before. Anyway--the student council decided to bring back the homecoming pep rally!” she squeals, gleefully kicking her feet in the air.
Adora leans back in her chair, brows furrowed. “Bring back? Didn’t we have one last year?”
“Yes, but after the water balloon thing they weren’t gonna let us have it anymore, but it turns out that one senior who wasn’t gonna graduate did graduate so I guess they figured it would probably be fine, ‘cause like, who’s ever gonna try and top that?”
“Right,” Adora hums, thinking back to last year’s pep rally. Just before homecoming court was announced, a group of rogue seniors had risen from the bleachers, unleashing dozens of water balloons they had stashed in their backpacks. What ensued was a pandemonium Adora could only remember in flashes, resulting in almost the entire student body and the school’s hallways being completely soaked.
The catch was that the seniors had filled the balloons with blue paint. It had taken the janitorial staff weeks to get the gym bleachers, the lockers in the science wing, and the cafeteria ceiling (don’t ask) to look normal again. Classes were cancelled for almost an entire week because the paint had messed up something with the internal plumbing. It was single-handedly the coolest thing Adora had experienced in her living years.
It was all led by the legendary Mara Hart, notorious for sticking it to the man during her K-12 years. The prank had all but gotten her and her friends expelled, but given that she was otherwise an A+ student and no one could technically prove who was behind it (her friends were loyal to each other to the bitter end), she walked at Bright Moon High’s graduation to uproarious applause from her classmates.
Adora knew some of the more grisly details because Mara had been captain of the girls’ lacrosse team last year--effortlessly cool Mara, endlessly caring Mara, definitely part of Adora’s gay awakening Mara--but it had become something of an urban legend at BMHS over the past year.
“Wait, how do you know any of this?” Adora asks, because while she was personally connected to Mara in a small way, she hadn’t been aware that they were going to cancel the pep rally indefinitely.
Glimmer arches an eyebrow. “Um, hello? My mom’s the principal?”
“Oh, yeah.”
“And Mermista totally let it slip when I asked her about it after the student council meeting,” Glimmer adds, then pauses. “Okay, it was more like I didn’t even wanna be there and I wish no one had ever voted for me and I’ll tell you whatever, but still. I’m...” she props her face in her hands and bats her eyelashes, “in the know.”
Adora smirks and rolls her eyes fondly, turning back to her desk to shut her textbook and put her notes away. She can never get anything done when Glimmer’s around. “Okay, so, pep rally’s back--that’s cool,” she says.
“It’s not just cool, Adora,” Glimmer scoffs. “Being homecoming queen is literally all I’ve wanted since I was a kid. I thought my dream had died with Mara’s academic career, but now there’s hope again--it’s meant to be, Adora. It’s destiny.”
Adora had literally never heard Glimmer talk about this, but, “Um, okay.”
Glimmer huffs and dramatically rolls onto her back, flinging her arms out and further messing up Adora’s sheets. Lesson learned, it isn’t worth the effort for Adora to make the bed anymore. “My mom was the homecoming queen like a hundred years ago, and my aunt was the homecoming queen before that. It’s, like, my birthright!”
Adora lifts a shoulder, twisting around in her chair to look at Glimmer. “Okay, then we’ll just get you to be the homecoming queen too. Can’t your mom just...make it happen?”
“Ugh, no,” Glimmer sighs. “I already asked. It’s a student vote.”
“Oh!” Adora brightens. “That’s easy, then. Everyone loves you.”
Glimmer pouts. “I know, but it’s not just a popularity contest--it’s, like, a whole thing. Me and Bow are gonna have to do a talent show, and there’s a relay race, and other stuff that if we don’t do well in we won’t even get to be in the final vote.”
“Wait, what?” Adora doesn’t remember any of that from last year. “What do you mean, Bow? Is...he's running for homecoming queen too?”
“Ha! No,” Glimmer laughs, then her expression darkens, eyes narrowing. “I would crush him.”
“Right...” Adora says. Actually, Bow would make a pretty good homecoming queen. But Adora values her life, so she decidedly does tell Glimmer this.
“No, every queen nominee has to also have someone to run with them as their ‘king,’” Glimmer explains, making air quotes with her fingers. “There’s no boy/girl bullshit, but you do have to be in a pair.”
“I don’t remember any...talent shows, or whatever,” Adora points out. “I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of one of those happening in real life.”
“Well, obviously you never went. It would’ve all been during your lacrosse thingies and you would've been too busy making googly eyes at Mara Hart,” Glimmer replies, wiggling her fingers at Adora.
Adora crosses her arms and blushes a deep red. “I would not. I would’ve been playing lacrosse. And stuff.” Okay, maybe she did make googly eyes at Mara, but only sometimes, as a treat, and Glimmer doesn’t need to know that.
Glimmer flips back over on her stomach and levels Adora with a pout. “Adora, this means a lot to me. We’re gonna need your help to win this.”
Adora has no idea how she could possibly be of any help with this, but hey-- “Of course, Glimmer. Whatever you need. I’m there.”
Glimmer grins, eyes sparkling. “Yaaaaay. Also, my mom’s making meatloaf tonight, you in?”
Adora pumps her fist in the air. “Sweet. Hell, yes.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“This is a joke, right? Like, you’re joking?” Catra says into the receiver as she shoves another handful of popcorn into her mouth.
“I am usually a pretty funny gal, it’s true--but, ah, no. This time I’m serious,” Scorpia replies on the other end.
Catra hoists her phone higher up on her shoulder while she adjusts her grip on her Xbox controller. “Okay, please explain,” she says between chews.
Scorpa sighs, and Catra visualizes her sitting cross-legged on her bedspread, hugging one of her many stuffed animals to her chest. “I know it’s kind of silly, but Perfuma sounded really excited about it, ‘cause I guess if you win, you get to pick what charity the proceeds from the dance ticket sales go to, and...I just couldn’t say no?”
Catra smirks, mashing a series of buttons on her controller as her TV screen lights up in front of her. She’s been trying to get past this level for weeks, but she’ll probably die right before the end again whether she’d answered Scorpia’s call or not. “You are so whipped,” she says.
Scorpia sighs again, but this time Catra can hear a smile in it. “I guess so, kitty cat. Still, it sounds kinda...fun? I mean, it’s more time spent with her, if anything else. She’s talking about writing an original song together for the talent show and incorporating her Tibetan singing bowls into it.”
Catra takes that in and barely suppresses a laugh. Her New Year’s resolution was to make fun of her friends less. Some days are harder than others. “Um, wow,” she says instead. “That’s, uh...that’ll be interesting. Do I have to call you Queen Scorpia if you win?”
“Oh, Perfuma doesn’t believe in gendered royalty,” Scorpia replies. “She wants us to be known as Homecoming Monarchs.”
“Of course she does,” Catra mutters. Perfuma is endlessly kind and patient and makes Scorpia smile, so by default Catra likes her, but otherwise they...don’t exactly share identical values, let’s say. Catra brings her own point home by pressing a button on her controller and chainsawing an alien in half on screen.
“Do you...think it’s a stupid idea? The whole...running for homecoming thing, I mean.”
Catra hears the telltale signs of Scorpia-doubting-herself in her reply, so she pauses the game. “Nah. If it’s something you guys wanna do, you should go for it. Fuck what anyone else thinks.”
“Okay, thanks,” Scorpia says, sounding lighter. “I think it means a lot to Perfuma. It would be cool to win it for her.”
“Well, hey,” Catra continues, un-pausing her game. “If you need any help, let me kn--oh, fuck!”
“Catra?” Panic sets in Scorpia’s tone. “Kitty cat, speak to me--do I need to call 911?!”
“No, no, Scorpia, please don’t do that,” Catra groans, tossing her controller aside. “I just got blown up in my stupid game again, that’s all. I’m never gonna beat this final boss.”
Scorpia sighed in relief. “Aw, don’t give up, kitty cat. One of these days, you’re gonna really give it to--what’s the dude’s name again?”
“Prime something-or-whatever,” Catra grumbled, reaching for her popcorn.
“Yeah, that guy. He’ll never know what hit him.”
Catra snickers into the receiver. “Yeah, okay. Thanks, Scorpia.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The lunch period at BMHS is, naturally, chaotic. Being a regional high school, every inch of the place is usually crawling with students, and the cafeteria is no different. The student population is small enough and the cafeteria big enough to condense into one lunch period, although Adora has oftentimes heard Perfuma lament about the ethics and health concerns of overcrowding.
Adora likes chaos. She likes that the overlapping sounds of chairs scraping and garbled chattering combine to form a comforting din that allows her to drown out whatever weird TikTok plans Bow’s making (ok, to be real, she will be asking about them later) and quietly observe the antics happening at tables around them.
She takes another bite of her pudding and her eyes land on the table to their right where Kyle, Lonnie, and Rogelio from her math class always sit together. Lonnie is mechanically chewing her gum as she stares into a compact mirror, examining her eyebrows with fierce concentration. Across from her, Kyle is holding up something on his phone to Rogelio with one hand and gesticulating wildly with the other as he holds a corn dog. Rogelio is nodding along but is staring down fondly at Kyle rather than at the screen Kyle’s pointing to, one arm hanging loose around Kyle’s shoulders. Lonnie slaps her compact shut and shouts something at them, pointing emphatically to her eyebrows. They all pause for a moment before bursting into laughter. Then Kyle drops his corn dog.
Adora pointedly does not observe the table across from theirs. She’ll gladly watch the Star siblings silently and intensely do their homework for the next period, or listen to Mermista fight off Seahawk’s PDA attempts, but nothing could compel her to look at the table straight ahead.
That table was where Catra Weaver and her friends sat.
Including: Perfuma’s new girlfriend, Scorpia Garnet; Entrapta Dryl, who was dating one of the Hordak twins (Adora was ever completely sure which one); the Hordak twins in question, one of which who usually broods silently and one of which who usually stares around smiling at nothing and everything; the stylish and blonde ruler of the theatre kids who has been nicknamed Double Trouble for as long as Adora can remember; and finally: Catra Weaver. Effortlessly cool, effortlessly gorgeous, effortlessly effortless Catra Weaver, leaning back in her chair with her arms crossed, coolly regarding the rest of the cafeteria as she holds court at her table of wonderful misfit toys.
Today’s effortless ensemble: cool jean jacket, a cool crop top, cool black jeans, cool combat boots, she got a haircut recently so--
“Um, Earth to Adora?”
“Huh?” Adora says, jerking her head up.
This is why she avoids looking at Catra Weaver’s table. Or Catra Weaver in general.
“We were talking about homecoming,” Glimmer says from her seat across from Adora, raising an eyebrow. “You were totally spaced out.”
Adora clears her throat, willing herself not to blush. “Sorry,” she replies, digging back into her pudding.
“Glimmer’s trying to convince me not to run for court,” Perfuma continues, crossing her arms.
“What? Why?”
“Because it’s totally lame and stupid and a waste of time,” Mermista answers from beside Perfuma, inspecting her nail polish. She glances up when she senses everyone at the table staring at her. “What?”
“Mermista, you’re on the homecoming committee,” Bow says.
Mermista shrugs. “So? I said what I said.”
“Look, Perfuma,” Glimmer starts, sliding her hand across the table toward Perfuma. “I just don’t want you to be disappointed if you lose. Homecoming’s a really big deal to me, and I really want to win.” She smiles saccharinely, tilting her head at Perfuma, eyes gone wide. Bow and Adora exchange a look.
Perfuma smiles back. “Oh, don’t worry about me, Glimmer! I’m sure our classmates will select the most deserving and talented couple to win,” she says, then goes back to stabbing a fork into her salad.
Glimmer’s eye starts twitching. Bow slowly and gently takes Glimmer’s hand and slides it back to her side of the table. “Glimmer, we’ll do great. The most important thing is to have fun,” he says, patting her hand.
“The most important thing is the charity,” Perfuma mutters.
“That too.”
“Is anybody else we know running?” Adora asks. Glimmer and Perfuma both shake their heads in response, until Mermista sighs dejectedly.
“Unfortunately,” she groans, raising her hand.
“Wait, what?! You just said it was stupid and lame!” Bow squawks.
“It is,” Mermista rolls her eyes. “But the rest of the student council said it would look really bad if I was on the planning committee and didn’t run. I was forced against my will.”
“Isn’t that a conflict of interest?” Glimmer asks, gripping her lunch tray so tight Adora wondered if she was going to launch it at Mermista’s head.
“I don’t know? I guess not? I’m planning on getting cut as soon as humanly possible though, so whatever,” Mermista replies, flicking her hair behind her shoulder.
“We won’t win with that attitude, my love!” Seahawk roars, throwing his arm around Mermista’s shoulder and raising a fist triumphantly. “You and I are going to be the greatest King and Queen this school has ever seen!”
“Oh my god, please stop,” Mermista groans, hiding her face in her hands.
“Picture it: you, me, newly crowned, gliding down the science wing--the students stop and stare! Could it really be our King and Queen in the flesh? The teachers stare too! I am going to give them both straight A’s!”
“Please just sit and eat your sandwich,” Mermista begs.
“Never,” Seahawk says, then kisses her on the cheek and acquiesces, taking a big bite of his sandwich. Adora tries to hide her smirk when she sees Mermista blush a deep red. She elbows Glimmer and nods in their direction so she can see.
“Aw, how cute. I’m going to destroy them,” Glimmer whispers in Adora’s ear.
“I know,” Adora whispers back. “But try to at least be nice about it.”
“No promises.”
“Ok, I have to pee,” Adora announces to the table, grabbing her lunch tray as she stands, grinning at Bow’s groan of TMI, Adora!
She makes her way over to the trash cans by the cafeteria exit, waving to her friends on the lacrosse team as she dumps her leftovers in the trash and sets the tray in the dish bin beside it. She should probably go over and check in with them about practice tonight, but she really has to pee, which reminds her that she forgot her water bottle all the way back to the table and needs to refill it before her next class.
“Damn it,” she mutters to herself, still smiling at her lacrosse friends as she whips around to head back--
And crashes right into someone, their heads knocking smack together.
“Ow!” Adora yelps, losing her footing for a moment. She rubs at her stinging forehead, glancing up as she apologizes, “Shit, sorry, sorry, that was totally my fault, I--”
And stares right up at Catra Weaver.
“I...I...I...”
She blinks a few times, but yes, that is Catra Weaver, rubbing at her own forehead and fixing a few strands of hair that had come loose from behind her ears. Catra Weaver, up close and personal, who she hasn’t talked to since...
“Your forehead is fucking hard. And big,” Catra says, holding her tray in one hand as she narrows her eyes up at Adora.
“Oh, um, you too...I mean! Thanks? I grew it myself,” Adora replies spectacularly, and then promptly wants to crawl into a hole and never come out.
Catra raises one eyebrow at her. “How hard did I hit you?”
Adora scrambles to answer. “Oh, not at all! I mean, not hard. It was my fault. Are you, um, are you okay?” This is going amazingly.
“I’m fine, Greyskull,” Catra replies, sending a tingle up Adora’s spine. She goes to deposit her tray. “Just watch where you’re going.”
Adora grins dopily. “Yes. I mean--I will. Sorry. Again.”
Catra glances Adora up and down, eyebrow still raised, and goes to say something else, when they’re interrupted by a foreboding, familiar voice.
“Ah, Adora! I’m so pleased to see you taking an interest in student affairs.”
Adora turns to see Glimmer’s mom looming over them, hands neatly clasped together. Maybe looming isn’t the right word as she’s smiling brightly down on her and Catra, but she’s tall, ok? “Oh, hi Ang--,” Adora starts before remembering they’re at school, “um, Mrs. Moon. What’s up?”
Angella gestures between her and Catra. “I was just observing how wonderful it will be that Glimmer will have a friend to share the homecoming experience with.”
Adora tenses again, remembering that Catra is still standing very close to her. “Oh, haha, yeah, super great. Wait, what?” Sharing?
Then she notices that her and Catra are standing in front of the wall where the Homecoming Court Signup Sheet is hanging. A sparkly pen tied to the clipboard is dangling within Adora’s reach.
“Oh, um, actually, Perfuma’s already--”
“I think this activity will make a fine addition to your college applications, Adora. And you know how Glimmer gets,” Angella leans in conspiratorially, not bothering to lower her voice. “I think it will calm her nerves to have a friend by her side. A bit of friendly competition, even!” she claps her hands together, delighted. “I remember having so much fun with my friends back in my day.”
“But, I’m already on the lacrosse team...” Adora mumbles, scratching the back of her neck. She glances down at the pen.
“Oh, but you know schools these days, always looking for that something that makes a student stand out,” Angella says, waving her hand dismissively. “And don’t worry, I’ll speak to Coach Huntara about any scheduling conflicts. You’ll get to have the best of both worlds!”
Wait, but lacrosse was Adora’s whole thing--does she not stand out enough? Will she seem boring to UEternia? “I...”
“Oh, Ms. Weaver!” Angella says, as if she’s just now noticing Catra. “I didn’t take you for the...school spirit type.”
“I’m not,” Catra replies, crossing her arms. She smiles saccharinely and adds, “ma’am,” for good measure. God, she’s cool.
“Ah,” Angella says, creating an awkward pause before brightening again. “Well, still, here you are. Are you Adora’s running mate?”
So, sometimes Adora panics.
Look, she’s in a high-stress situation. The girl she doesn’t not have an embarrassing crush on bumped into her, talked to her, and then her best friend’s mom swooped in basically saying that lacrosse is boring and dumb and running for homecoming court will get her into UEternia. At least, that’s what Adora got from all that. And then she insinuates that she’ll be doing that with Catra Weaver.
So, she panics. She panics, and she grabs the glittery pen, and she continues to panic.
“Yep! We’re running together!” she says, grinning.
“Say what?” Catra hisses.
“Oh, wonderful!” Angella squeals, clapping her hands together again. “I must say, I think this will turn out to be a very interesting competition. You’ll have to come dress shopping with us, Adora.”
“Haha, yeah...” Adora says, quickly scribbling Adora Greyskull & Catra Weaver on the signup sheet. Oh fuck, oh god.
“Hang on a fu--” Catra starts, then clamps her mouth shut, because the goddamn principal is still talking to them.
“Oh, I wonder what you’ll do for the talent show! I can’t wait...well, I’m off. It was great catching up, girls!” Angella says, and winks, and does weird-mom-finger-guns, and then she’s gliding away as quickly as she came.
Adora continues to grin and wave awkwardly until Angella is out of sight, then she deflates. That was so weird.
Then she turns and sees Catra reach for the pen that’s still in her hand. Adora has half a mind to snatch it away. Or half a brain cell, at least. “Hey!”
“Cross our names out. Right. Now,” Catra growls through gritted teeth, still trying to grab the pen. Adora tries to hold it up out of reach, but it’s still attached to the clipboard, so the best she can do is weave her hand in and out of Catra’s way.
“Um, no? I just told her we were running!”
“Well, we’re not. Give it to me!”
“No!” Adora grunts, yanking the pen away. “You heard her--she’s gonna talk to Coach Huntara. I can’t back out now.”
“Well, I can!” Catra says, grabbing at Adora’s arm, where she has the pen tucked under her armpit. “Find someone else to run with you!”
“I can’t! They’ll want to win!” Adora says, twisting her body away from Catra. She’s having a slight meltdown over Catra touching her so much, but she’s focusing on the pen for now. “No one’s gonna want to run with me anyway.”
Catra mutters something under her breath that Adora doesn’t catch, then she snakes her hand under Adora’s and takes hold of her wrist. Adora stifles a gasp. “Wait, you don’t want to win?” Catra asks, eyebrow quirked.
“Noooo,” Adora furiously shakes her head. “No, no, no. Glimmer would kill me. She wants to win. I just, um, panicked. I guess?” The heat from Catra’s hand is searing into her wrist.
Catra glances down at their hands and back up at Adora. “So, your friend will kill you if you run for homecoming. And you just signed up in front of her mom?”
“Um...” Adora thinks for a second. “Yes?”
Catra huffs out a laugh. “Wow, you’re even more of an idiot than I remember.”
Adora feels her face redden, shocked at Catra’s casual mention of the past, and glances away. “Look, let’s just get eliminated as quickly as possible and then we can forget it ever happened. Deal?”
“Ugh,” Catra lets out a groan, leaning her head back. She tugs at Adora’s wrist a few times, finding that she isn’t budging. “Fine! As quickly as possible.”
“As quickly as possible,” Adora nods, finding herself grinning as Catra loosens her grip and pulls away. “I’m gonna take this pen home, by the way,” she calls out as Catra begins to head back to her table.
“Fuck!”
After Adora finally pees and refills her water bottle, she gingerly sits back down beside Glimmer. Poor, sweet, deadly Glimmer, who’s chattering away excitedly with Seahawk about some new music video or something.
She says, in a very tiny voice, “So, um...I think I’m running for homecoming queen?”
Glimmer whips her head around, nose flaring. She stands up, slamming both hands down on the table with a smack.
“You WHAT?!”
And then the bell rings.

Summary: He missed Roman. High school had been, in the grand scheme of things, largely without his best friend.
(Make sure to read the notes at the end if you want to hear my thoughts on the chapter! As always, feel free to let me know if you want to be added to my taglist for this story or just my art and writing ones in general! Enjoy!)
______________________________
High school wasn’t great but it certainly didn’t seem to be terrible either. That’s what Virgil was gathering from the whole experience anyways. It definitely didn’t hold as much of the awkwardness in terms of trying to find himself and who he was as a person like middle school had brought about.
But still, there were still a fair share of complications. Roman’s popularity throughout the years had started to become one of them.
Neither of them had honestly expected it really. Theater put Roman in the spotlight, both literally and figuratively, that was where part of his newfound popularity came from. With that little bit of exposure, people started to take notice of him.
First it had been Roman running late to English a few times when they started out freshman year.
That expanded to Roman joining some clubs Virgil was content to stay out of for a couple days in the week.
More interaction with more people meant Roman got to talking with some interesting people from student council through his Model UN club meetings, including a familiar face from theater serving as their stage manager in the upcoming fall production.
“Hey guys, there’s someone I’d like you to meet!” Roman said excitedly as he dragged along a guy that looked around their grade, firm hands on his shoulders. Roman beamed as Virgil and Patton looked up from Virgil’s phone. “This is Logan!”
Patton smiled at Logan and held out a hand. “Patton Hart, it’s nice to meet you Logan!”
At the sight of Patton’s hand reached out to him, Virgil noticed Logan visibly relax, reaching out to shake Patton’s.
“Hello Patton,” Logan merely said with a nod.
“And of course, Logan, I’ve told you about my best friend Virgil,” Roman’s voice cut through, Virgil’s gaze flickering over to the impossibly widening grin on Roman’s face at that little detail.
Logan nodded once more. “Ah yes, Roman talks about you often.”
“Nothing but bad things I assume?” Virgil snorted, smirking at Roman’s mock gasp of offense.
“No, he speaks rather highly of you, Virgil. Oftentimes it gets in the way of things such as letting him running lines and letting me work on my own work for his play,” Logan commented, giving Roman a pointed look towards the latter half of his statement.
“A boy can’t talk about his best friend? Harsh, Specs!”
Patton laughed at the two of them bickering. “So how’d you and Logan meet?”
“Model UN, he’s done a much better job than I have! He’s trying to show me the ropes but he’s definitely much smarter than me at it!” Roman said with a chuckle, sitting down with Logan doing so as well.
“He says that but he isn’t doing too poorly, honestly Roman,” Logan sighed.
“Yeah yeah, but not as good as you. Now hush and let me tell them my story!”
Roman considered joining student council by the end of freshman year but decided theater was already a large commitment.
Sophomore year rolled around before Virgil knew it and Roman was cast as the lead role for the fall production as well as getting on the sophomore homecoming court.
Homecoming carnival was fairly nice as Roman practically dragged him and Logan along. Virgil didn’t have half a bad time though he admittedly just stayed by Patton who was working at one of his club booths. Roman was surrounded by too many people at one point for Virgil to really want to follow him anyways.
Spring semester of sophomore year was pretty uneventful aside from Roman somehow getting even more popular. Virgil could barely get a word of conversation in with him after their school’s spring production of Beauty and the Beast, despite him going to nearly every night of the show’s run. Patton was good company during one of the nights though and the two went out for milkshakes afterwards.
“Virgil! Gosh, I really don’t need you seeing me cry,” Roman laughed as he scooped Virgil up in a tight hug before pulling away. “You didn’t have to come for closing night!”
“I wanted to, you know?” Virgil asked. “Also holy shit are you hot.”
“Oh trust me, I know! My sheer beauty is truly a thing to behold!” Roman teased, only for Virgil to shove him with a snort.
“Congratulations Roman, you did a great job!” one of their classmates said in passing.
“Thank you Cissy!” Roman called after her with a proud grin on his face.
“No, you know what I mean, you must be dying under the lights,” Virgil chuckled.
“Oh, that-!”
“Roman, you did amazing, look at you!” another person said, coming over to give Roman a hug.
“Thank you, and thank you for coming!” Roman replied.
“How could I not? You did great!” the woman said. “Hey, have you seen Chloe around? I’ve been trying to find the poor girl for ages, she might’ve been swamped.”
“I think she might’ve gone to go change, I think she’ll be out soon!”
Virgil zoned out a little as Roman continued to make conversation for a little longer.
“Ro, you down for going to get ice cream after you free yourself from your wire prison?” Virgil asked once he thought Roman’s attention was finally back on him but a hand was clapped on to Roman’s back.
“Hey dude, awesome job, how’d your voice hold up?” one of the other actors, Justin if Virgil remembered correctly, asked.
“My throat is honestly totally killing me, I can’t wait to drink my weight in tea when I get home,” Roman laughed, wincing for emphasis.
“I feel you, I think I’m going to head home after I change,” Justin said, running a hand through his hair and fixing his glasses. “You planning on going out with the rest of the cast afterwards?”
“Nah, Virgil and I are going to get ice cream and then I am going to sleep like there’s no tomorrow!”
“Fair, fair, I’ll see you on Monday!”
By the time that Roman was finally free, a dozen people had asked Roman for picture and Virgil, with a quick text, told him that his mom had to pick him up unexpectedly.
Logan started to hang out with Virgil and Patton during lunch by the time junior year came by, only skipping a portion of Wednesdays in order to go to student council meetings.
By this point in their time in high school, lots of changes happened but some things still stayed pretty consistent. Roman decided against auditioning for the fall play but still seemed to remain as busy as ever with the theater competitions he was now taking part in, fitting in clubs in seemingly any place possible. Logan had become the junior year president for student council, still taking part in Model UN and a few AP classes definitely keeping him busy. Patton had been the one to change the least aside from Virgil himself. Virgil was happy that both he and Patton were both taking AP studio art. Apart from that, the two of them just focused on trying to stay sane.
Prom came up during their junior year as a topic of discussion (seeing as only the juniors and seniors could go on their own) and the four of them decided to go together as a group. It was a disaster in Virgil’s opinion and he had to leave early when Roman was asked for a dance by one of the popular girls in their grade. He felt sick to think about it.
Virgil stared up at the ceiling for a while the night of prom after he’d gotten back home, trying to figure out what was even happening at this point. A girl had asked for a dance, Roman accepted.
Except suddenly, Virgil remembered just how many times Roman had arrived late to lunch, how many times he’d sat down only to realize he’d had club meetings, how many times Roman would be preoccupied with rehearsals and homework and conversations in the halls before English. The study sessions at Roman’s house had become minimal and Virgil’s interactions with Roman’s brother Remus were more frequent than the interactions with Roman himself.
He missed Roman. High school had been, in the grand scheme of things, largely without his best friend. It still didn’t feel right, like he was missing something with the realization he’d come to.
As soon as he thought of Roman asking him to dance and kissing him though, he knew.
Virgil cried for a while that night.
Suddenly after prom, Roman dropped most of his clubs.
“Why’d you stop going?” Patton asked during their current conversation, taking out his lunch. He offered Virgil a cookie who took it reluctantly.
“Eh, I don’t know, I’ve just been so busy you know? Wanted to see if it helped,” Roman offered as explanation, shrugging. “Oh hey Logan, did you finish studying for our APUSH test today?” he added as the aforementioned took a seat at the table, finished with his student council meeting.
Logan nodded and wordlessly handed his notes to Roman with a roll of his eyes. “I knew you were going to ask.”
“You know me well Specs! I swear, he’s really going nuts with AP test prep, huh?” Roman asked, flipping through the neatly written notes.
“Teachers tend to overprepare us for AP tests, I promise it’s worth it.”
Patton sighed and turned to Virgil, letting the other two talk over their test next period. “Hey Virge, do you want to come over to my house today? I got some new paints I wanted to try out but I’ve been waiting for you to come over,” Patton tried, smiling hopefully at him.
He really didn’t have anything better to do that afternoon so he nodded. “Yeah, sure, do you want me to bring anything?”
Patton shook his head. “Nope, just yourself!”
Virgil nodded.
Summer came around and Virgil started to spend less time with Roman. His family had dragged him on more than one trip so luckily he had a good excuse. Roman certainly didn’t seem very available either so it wasn’t exactly hard for their schedules to conflict.
With a week until senior year started, Virgil went to help Patton walk his dog.
“Hey Pat..?”
“Hm?” Patton asked, looking to him with a smile.
“What would you think if I wanted to... I dunno, change my style I guess?” Virgil asked, tugging at the sleeves of his sweater.
“Hmm... Well, what are you thinking about? Like, just a little change? Starting from scratch?” was Patton’s response. “Not for any reason, I’m still supportive no matter what you want to do!”
Virgil thought on it as they continued walking. “I don’t really know yet, I just know I want to change it I guess?”
Patton nodded. “Well I say do it! You can always change it back!”
With that, they moved on to other subjects. Patton was excited about school while Virgil ruminated on Patton’s questions.
The day before senior year started, Virgil knew what he was planning on, staring at the hair dye in his hands.
______________________________
Hey hey hey, we are finally going to be getting into the actual conflict! Gosh, I’ve been waiting for the chance to do so, the next chapter will definitely be interesting!
I will say I had a bit of trouble with this one. The last chapter starts off with the first day of freshman year but I just felt it was a good way to set up the dynamic. I wanted the story to be set in either junior or senior year though mainly due to the maturity level at that point. It feels more comfortable and lets me have more room with what’s to come! I tried to get there without just saying “Look, here’s a time skip, wow!” I really hope I did it well, it feels a little clunky!
I hope you guys liked this chapter and as always, feel free to chat with me in the comments! I love hearing your guys’ opinions!

" you know what this camp needs? " aside from parental supervision? " an actual school. how does education even work out here — have YOU ever been to a real school? "
@pistolslinger
Katie looks up, very suddenly, from her notes of Ancient Greek. Although definitely far from his intention, Jesper's comment has struck a nerve. A nerve that Katie didn't even realize was there to be struck, right next to a wound that she didn't realize had begun to ache, all over again. Katie frowns in a very un-Katie-like manner as quivering exhale follows.
"—— I have. When I was younger, some of the kids thought it was really funny that timed multiplication tests made me really worried. And there was a school counselor that didn't believe Dad when he said that he thought I had ADHD when I was younger."
Such is the reality of many demigods and demigoddess.
Katie remembers the homecoming game from only a few years ago. She remembers the hand in hers, promising to be there, remembers being asked if a corsage would be okay. She remembers the nervousness in the gaze, remembers hands trembling, and the way that she had given a gentle kiss to reassure that everything was going to be just fine.
"I was a member of the homecoming court, actually."
It would seem that a majority of the students in Katie's very mortal school found her to be a leader, too. Many of the teachers respected that. Only a handful of others still made fun of the struggle in mathematics that Katie faced (but the worst was when she overheard it talked about, when some thought she was nothing more than a pretty face that didn't truly care for her causes, or that called her unkind names for needing extra time on math tests).
Katie's voice has now become softer, and in usually kind eyes, there's distance of a thousand yards. Perhaps further. The topic that makes most high schoolers giddy (it meant graduation was close and usually involved talking about the one that they were going to prom with), seems to have made Katie withdraw into herself.
"I went looking for a prom dress awhile ago. It would've been nice, to have an evening of being...normal, you know? Or pretending to be. I had even discussed it with a few of my friends."

1) do you think liam is supposed to be as unlikable as he is in s1? they definitely try to push for sympathy in later seasons but i couldn't really figure out if he's insufferable to be ~relatable~ or if he's just designed to make me hate him. 2) rate lauren's love interests from terrible to even more terrible. 3) which plotline(s) would you most like to scrap if given a chance to rework the show?
All great questions! Thanks!
1) This question has mystified me since the show first aired. Despite Liam’s completely unsympathetic behavior, we get numerous key shots from his POV early in season 1. For instance, when he is trying to have sex with Karma in the car during Homecoming in 1x01, and Karma decides she’s no longer into it and leaves, we cut to Liam checking his breath. This is meant to humanize him. It’s odd, because moments ago he said he’s wanted to have sex with a lesbian for as long as he can remember--a transparently rape-culture-y statement that is never fully interrogated. It’s supposed to be a somewhat relatable joke when we see that Liam thought his breath was to blame and not the creepiness of the sentiment he just expressed. The best I can say is that this was the gay male writers’ best attempt to craft a believable teenage boy, and they simply could not conceive of one who was not creepily misogynistic from the start. Though Liam’s worldview should horrify any women watching, I guess we’re supposed to believe that the writers did not understand just how damaging his behavior really is, and downplayed it accordingly.
Interestingly, Liam is told off for his actions a few times throughout the show, but never for his fetishization of Karma. For instance, in 2x02, Liam throws a bit of a temper tantrum when he learns that Shane knew Amy and Karma were faking and never spoke up. Shane scolds Liam for this overreaction and points out that he’s being myopic and can’t really understand what it’s like for a gay kid who’s just coming out. This is fair game: like every other character on the show, Liam should be learning from his mistakes. So if the writers really wanted to create a sympathetic character arc for a young man like this, they really needed to have someone--probably Lauren, as a girl removed from the situation--explain to him how violent and degrading it is that he’s so hung up on the fantasy of “converting” a woman to desiring him. But they never do, so I guess they just never meant for him to be that bad.
2) God, this is so hard because Liam’s love interests are all so bad. Tommy is an idiot and ignorant about intersex people, but at least he’s Erick Lopez and he’s cute. Liam is a piece of shit, but at least while dating Lauren he’s subjected to the kind of bullying he fully deserves. Theo/Anthony is a cop, and specifically a narc, and worst of all he’s a 20-year-old dating a high school sophomore. So I’m gonna have to go (best to worst) Tommy-->Liam-->Theo/Anthony. Wish I could include Amy in this love interest ranking but the show wasn’t galaxy brain enough :(
3) Oh this is really fun and I wrote a horrifying amount omfg.
First things first, we have to go through the show with a fine-toothed comb and clean up the nastiness toward bi people. Shane makes a lot of biphobic comments that we can just throw away. And Karma’s mom, who currently we learn is bisexual at the end of season two, instead can describe herself as bisexual in season one in a cringey moment when she’s trying to bond with Karma. In a touch of realism, everyone assumes Amy and Karma are “queer” rather than “lesbians” (gotta update this with the times) which explains no one sees any issue with Karma, a queer girl, having a thing for Liam, a guy. I don’t see a way to rehabilitate Liam this way, though, so Liam still fetishizes Karma as a “lesbian,” even though she never uses that word and intentionally keeps it vague.
The character of Reagan is thrown out. Instead, Amy’s first girlfriend is more like that girl Jasmine, whom she met on the dating app Syzzr in season one. Jasmine is a girl from another high school in Austin who also just got over a crush on a best friend. She’s charismatic and mature and does a lot of the initiating in the relationship with Amy, prodding her to assert herself with her mom and embrace feminism more in “Zen and the Art of Pageantry” (we’ll keep that storyline mostly unchanged). Notably absent from her arc is a nastiness toward bi girls. Instead, she’s generous and goal-oriented. She helps Amy establish an identity outside of Karma, but bristles at times when Amy regresses. However, it’s crucial that she’s not jealous of Amy’s bond with Karma; she just wants Amy to be older and wiser than she really is. This highlights the flaw in their relationship: that Amy is still struggling with her self-identity (not her sexual identity!!) and feels like she is always letting her girlfriend down. Amy is the one who decides to break up and she does it because she doesn’t want to feel like a disappointment. They stay in touch, though, and Jasmine/Reagan remains a mentor for Amy throughout the show.
For instance, when Amy finds herself unattracted to Felix (more on him later), Amy goes to Jasmine/Reagan about it, as well as Shane. She can’t figure out why she sometimes feels drawn toward guys even though she knows she doesn’t really like them. Shane thinks Amy is probably bi or pan. Jasmine/Reagan introduces some split attraction model that gives Amy an instant headache. Amy doesn’t think either of those are right. It’s actually a conversation with Lauren and Farrah that helps clarify things for her. Through chatting with her mom and Lauren, Amy is reminded that girls are pretty much trained from birth that their job is to impress and appeal to boys. She realizes there’s a good chance she’s been acting on inertia (this is the way the show simplifies comp het). She settles it once and for all when she goes out and meets a group of other lesbians -- maybe a support group or like an organized social club meetup kind of thing. In the company of these cool and inspiring other women, she realizes that she feels really comfortable with the label “lesbian” after all. Maybe MTV even lets her say the word dyke :)
The episode where the kids have to label themselves, however, is thrown firmly in the trash.
Also in the trash: Amy and Liam sleeping together. Garbage. I think they get angry-drunk together instead and talk about Karma and maybe the tension for season 2a is that they did something more external to hurt her that night, like out her as straight to her parents.
Theo/Anthony is not a cop and there is no mystery surrounding his character. Instead, he’s like a pick-up artist type and plays intentional mind games like negging that Lauren sees through after a while. She dumps him and Shane and Amy help her get revenge on him. At that point, he is fully gone and does not come back.
Duke is also a respectable age. Not much else to do there.
And then the Karmy of it all! We need to see more signs from Karma’s perspective starting in season 2b (after the arrest) that Karma has a real crush on Amy that she’s ignoring. The character of Felix helps with this. He and Amy still go to prom together but Amy concludes that it doesn’t feel right and nothing more happens between them. However, on prom night, Karma finds herself feeling more than just empathy for Felix’s situation - she feels jealous of someone on that date. With Amy’s reluctant blessing, Karma asks Felix out and they start to date, but she finds herself annoyed by his quirks and has no interest in having sex with him. Felix winds up asking Amy what the deal is with Karma and sex. In the meantime, Karma catches herself having the occasional dream about Amy. Amy, who is with Sabrina at this point (I haven’t decided yet if I want to rewrite the Sabrina stuff since I haven’t rewatched s3 yet so let’s go with no for now), is mostly happy to see Karma and Felix together... but when she hears that Karma isn’t sleeping with him, she can’t help but feel hope that whatever motivated Karma to kiss her in the pool that night in 2b might be the reason she doesn’t want to commit to Felix. Karma doesn’t want to admit her confusion to Amy or Shane so has no one to talk to about her feelings except Liam, and miracle of miracles, he is the one who actually nudges her to consider that maybe she’s had a thing for Amy for a while now. She denies that that could be possible, but she’s just not happy with Felix, and at the end of season 3, she tearfully breaks up with him. When Amy comes over to comfort her, we see Amy through Karma’s eyes in a new way. Karma finally has her moment of clarity. End s3.
In season 4, Karma sort of awkwardly tries to court Amy without being obvious about what she’s doing, which has the odd impact of making Amy feel hurt -- is Karma trying to bait her into having feelings again? This results in a fight, and during the fight Karma admits the truth -- that she’s having feelings for Amy and didn’t know how to express them without potentially hurting Amy because of their past. Amy is taken aback, and she’s still with Sabrina, so she does the old “I have to go” routine. But then she talks to either Lauren or Shane or both about what just happened and they prompt her to do a romantic about-face. She races back to Karma and they have a really cinematic first real kiss. The rest of the season that follows is the two of them as girlfriends, trying to navigate being their real selves and also their romantic selves at the same time. They do a lot of cliche romantic things and annoy the crap out of all their friends. They’re also really really happy. In the series finale, Amy and Karma and Lauren and Shane and Shane’s boyfriend all go to Pride or Queer Liberation March or whatever they call it in Austin. Also Liam leaves town for military school :)

the only time i feel good falling (is when i'm falling fast and hard for you) // stenbrough // ao3 // for lil <3 // playlist
The year is 1994, and Bill Denbrough is going to ask Stan Uris to the prom. That is, if Stan doesn't ask Patty Blum first.
part one of two: saturday january 29, 1994
The year was 1994, and the Loser’s Club was in full swing, screaming along to grunge rock and alternative pop at the top of their lungs, all piled on each other’s lap in Mike’s truck, spilling popcorn all over the seats in crowded movie theaters, swapping sodas, and kicking each other out of the hammock in their clubhouse. The seven of them (eight, when Georgie insisted on being included) were inseparable. You could always find at least a pair of them tangled up together, napping on the broken down couch that they had found and dragged into the clubhouse or swimming and splashing around in the cold water of the quarry in early spring before the sun has time to warm the water for the season.
The year was 1994, and the Loser’s were seniors in high school, planning for their futures. They were in the final stretch of the school year, taking the last of their public school classes. Some were making up for lost credits, like Richie and Beverly, who had both missed more than their fair share of biology lessons to go out back and smoke hand-rolled cigarettes in the Derry Senior High’s tennis courts, while other Loser’s were working on obtaining as much extra credit as humanly possible. Eddie was interning with the local hospital, well on his way to earning a CNA degree before even finishing high school first, while Mike spent countless hours volunteering at the Derry Library, where he aided the regular librarians in cleaning, organizing, and developing children’s programming, even bringing in some of his grandfather’s ranch animals on occasion. Ben had found himself a pastime at the gym, gaining muscle, confidence, and the attention of many girls across the campus, though he famously, and kindly, turned down anyone who asked him out. He only had eyes for one girl, and Beverly knew how lucky she was.
Though they were all growing up and finding their differences from one another, they were close as they ever were, and then some.
The year was 1994, and the Losers had steadily climbed the rungs of the social ladder, so that by the time of their senior year, they were ready and willing to date. Mike, handsome and charismatic, had dated a handful of girls by that point, and was seeing a sweet girl by the name of Hannah Bishop. She was a blonde on the track team with Ben, but most importantly, she got along well with the rest of the Losers, making her the longest standing of Mike’s girlfriends.
Richie and Eddie had gotten their heads out of their asses by sophomore homecoming, when Richie had finally let himself come out to his friends, and Eddie practically leapt into his arms to kiss him on the spot. They kept the PDA down to a dull roar at school, still nervous of other kids’ reactions, but were still inseparable at the heart of it.
Bill and Beverly had long since broken up, reaching an amicable end partway through freshman year. They felt too young to settle into something serious, and still got nervous attempting to kiss in front of their friends, and knew they weren’t meant to be.
Bev had no trouble moving on, though, and after finding out that her most beloved possession, the Derry postcard with the sweetest poem written on the back that she had found after one of her most cherished memories, a day at the quarry with her boys, was written by none other than Ben Hanscom himself, she wasted no time in claiming him for her own, as if he had ever been anything but hers. Bill, though, had never seemed to move on in the same way. The vast majority of the school assumed he was still fixated on his redheaded friend, but most of the Losers knew better.
It was 1994, and Bill Denbrough was in love with Stanley Uris.
Stan, once an uptight, strange child, had grown into an uptight, strange young man. He was smart, in the running for valedictorian, and funnier than even Richie sometimes, with his quick wit and dry sense of humor. His unruly curls grew longer, framing his face and moved gently around him when he laughed or shook his head, disparaging as a disapproving parent, but always with the glint of humor in his eyes. The Losers never had to explain themselves to him; he always seemed to understand his friends almost better than they did themselves, which is why it infuriated most of them to no end when he insisted that his best friend and fearless leader Bill was still in love with Beverly Marsh, even three years after the definitive end of their relationship, if you could ever really call two fourteen year olds too shy to hold hands for fear of their friends’ mocking a relationship.
Even after the end of everything, though, Stan never made fun. The other Losers liked to tease Bill and Beverly about their sandbox romance, with even Ben throwing in a joke or two occasionally about having “stolen Bill’s girl,” Stan didn’t play along. He’d roll his eyes and move the conversation along, having settled into the much needed role of babysitter when it came to hanging out with the Losers. Even Mike was childish and liked to throw paper balls that once came in the shape of long-lost love letters around the clubhouse, but somehow, the ever-present Peter Pan syndrome never stuck to the most stoic member of the group when it came to the romances and heartbreaks of his friends. It was the kind of tact that Bill admired about him. Bill admired a lot about him.
One of his oldest friends, Bill knew Stan like the back of his hand. He knew which buttons to press to get him to shout and jump like a fool with the rest of them, he knew exactly which pleading look to give to make Stan roll his eyes and grab Bill’s hand, letting the tall auburn-haired boy pull him into the bed of Mike’s truck that Eddie was always fixing up right before the designated driver for the night sped off onto the highway, looking for some sort of fun. But most of all, Bill knew that Stan was different, like the rest of the Losers.
The day River Phoenix died only a few months before hit the group like a ton of bricks, but none of them cried, except for Stanley, who had a secret copy of My Own Private Idaho on tape hidden on his bookshelf between ornithology journals that no one except for Bill knew about. None of the Losers cried over the tragic death of a young celebrity except for Stanley, the strange and uptight boy who loved a strange movie a little too much to be a coincidence. Bill thought that he had put the pieces together, he thought that it meant that maybe, just maybe, Stan was different like him, like Richie and Eddie were different. Bill thought that he may have a chance to be with the boy he was in love with, and immediately began planning the most romantic and devastatingly cheesy set up in the history of Derry Senior High, starting with asking Stan to prom in early February. That was the ideal time, he thought, since it was early enough to get a head start, but not so early that Stan would be blindsided.
Bill knew that he had a chance with Stan, or at least he thought he did, until the last Saturday of January, when Stanley asked Patty Blum to prom.
Saturday, January 29, 1994, Three Months to Prom
“Richie, I swear to all that is holy in this world,” Beverly said, waving her hand with a not quite yet lit cigarette held between her fingers, “if you make me late to chemistry again tomorrow morning, I’m going to end your life.”
“I didn’t say that I’m actually going to go make out with Eddie in the locker room after his gym class, I just said it would be hot,” Richie said, waggling his finger like a chastising mother, “There’s a massive difference.”
“Not if Eddie agrees with you!”
“And I didn’t agree with him!” Eddie shouted, sounding guilty already, as though if given the chance before Bev piped up he would have agreed.
The group was in Bill’s backyard, huddled around a small bonfire near the back edge of the property. It was unusually warm that afternoon for a winter day, so they decided to make smores and hope that certain members of their exclusive club couldn’t find anything to catch on fire, either purposefully (Richie) or accidentally (Bill). They had all gathered only about 45 minutes prior to the locker room conversation, with Mike arriving earliest after dropping his girlfriend off at home, and Stan being the latest arrival, as he had… still not arrived. Bill pretended not to notice too much, but as ever, he wore his heart on his sleeve and looked over his shoulder to the gate door next to the house every few minutes, hoping for Stan to arrive soon.
“Stop being so antsy, Bill,” Ben said, nudging him with a stick to get his attention. “Stan will get here when he gets here.”
Bev draped herself across her boyfriend’s lap and put a hand against her forehead and spoke in a poor imitation of Bill’s voice, complete with the distinctive stutter that he was slowly growing out of, “I just c-can’t live wih-without him near me, Ben. Stan is muh-my light ah-and stars.”
“Hardy huh-har har, Bev,” Bill said, straight faced and unamused, “I just wuh-want to get stuh-st-started on the s-smores already.”
He might have convinced his friends if his face didn’t immediately betray him by lighting up when he turned around at the sound of the gate swinging open, making a sudden noise as the wood door smacked into the side of the fence as Stan drug his bike into the backyard. Stan’s face was red, and so were his gloveless fingers, but his face was broken into an uncharacteristically wide smile as he dropped his bike to the ground and jogged to where his friends were gathered around the fire.
“I wish you had called me for a ride,” Eddie’s disapproving tone was cancelled out by the concern on his voice when he took one of Stan’s icy hands in his own and rubbed his knuckles to warm him up.
“You won’t care about how cold I am when I tell you the good news,” Stan said, pulling his hand back and holding it over the fire.
“What g-good news?”
“I’m taking Patty to the prom.” Stan’s voice was proud, almost smug, and the yard got very silent for just long enough to hear a pin drop, when Beverly pulled at Stan’s arm and turned him to face his friends in excitement.
“Patty Blum? Since when!?”
“Since next Monday, officially,” he blushed and dropped his stare to the grass.
“Monday?” Mike asked, sounding as confused as Bill felt. Bill’s head was spinning and every sentence was like a bucket of cold water over his heart.
“Technically I haven’t asked her, but Karina is on the speech team with Patty, and on the debate team with me, and she told me today that Patty wants me to ask her, and I really, really want to.”
Bill’s heart dropped out of his chest and into his stomach.
“How do you know it isn’t a trick?” Richie’s question was next, “Like that time Sam Ferris asked Eddie to formal?” He wrapped an arm around his boyfriend and planted a kiss on his temple, as if to apologize for bringing it up. Eddie did look a little peeved.
“It’s not.” Bill said, finally. He knew it couldn’t be a trick, because Patricia Blum is a nice girl, and because he knows all too well how easy it is to envision a date to prom with Stan Uris.
Stan shot him a smile.
There’s another moment of silence, where Bill can feel the prickle of eyes on him and he doesn’t even glance to his side to know that he’s right, that Beverly is giving him a look full of reserved pity. He speaks up again.
“Good,” he says, “You deserve a pretty girl like that.”
And the spell is broken. The Losers all start chiming in with what they think Stan should say, and how he should dress, and what a striking couple the two of them will be, Stan standing tall and lean with the impossibly thin and honey-blonde haired Patty Blum on his arm, dressed to the nines in a sweaty gym, classing up the place just by being there, smiling together. Bill could see it clear as day.
“I’m going to g-go get some more chuh-chocolate, now th-that Stan is here,” he smiled a tight smile and stood up to go into the house. Even if no one else wanted smores, Bill somehow felt a greater need for stuffing his face full of chocolate than he had ever experienced before.

h e a d c a n o n s, pt. 1
( tw: brief & vague mentions of death )
Tumblr media
nic goes by nic--not nicolette. there are only three people in the world that can call her nicolette: her father, her brother and her ex-husband (yes, even now). but even liam didn’t use it very often, he opted for nicky--which to this day, most people don’t use.
nic used to go to early fall out boy concerts growing up, usually sneaking out of her house to get to them until she got her license. her favorite album is definitely take this to your grave-- “chicago is so two years ago”, now that’s a bop. but usually, nic is either listening to 80′s & 90′s rock music, with a smattering of badass 90′s women artists to really inspire her.
nic’s go to karaoke songs go in this order: mr. brightside, you oughta know and if you can get her up a third time, she’ll serenade you all with a sweet, sweet rendition of drops of jupiter. but if she’d with a group? all bets are off, but usually she’ll try to coerce them into at least one queen song.
since she was a kid, nic has never been able to eat mashed potatoes. the texture really...freaks her out. she knows this puts her in the running for the weirdest human alive, but she can’t help it. same with ripe bananas and cereal with milk. too bad friendship contracts and a specific no take-backsies clause.
nic didn’t grow up reading a whole lot--she didn’t get into comic books until high school, but she did read one series in its entirety, The Princess Diaries. It’s her favorite book series and she doesn’t care what you think about the fact that she loves it, Mia Thermopolis is the most relatable teen princess ever and perhaps Nic’s first feminist icon.
she can play guitar--not exactly well, but her dad had thought enrolling her in guitar lessons would help her focus some of that...chaotic energy into something productive. it worked..for a year. and then nic got to high school and suddenly she had other things to focus on...
...like cheerleading. or archery. nic was a apart of a few extracurriculars when she was in high school and none of them would have made any sense to someone just passing through. nic likes to break expectations and break stereotypes. so, a cheerleader is supposed to be peppy and girly? not nic. she didn’t date a quarterback, didn’t make prom queen and had no care about homecoming court. but she liked the girls on the team--mostly. they existed in a different world than she did, though. but it was one of the only times in her life that she had a real group of friends who identified as girls. she didn’t hate it, but she preferred her brothers friends. it was easier with them.
tell tale signs nic doesn’t want to talk about something: she’ll avoid eye contact, pick a less emotional part and stay on that, peeling back bottle labels, and make jokes to avoid the emotion
nic doesn’t cry in front of people, it’s not her thing. she doesn’t believe emotions are bad--in fact, she thinks they’re good. but she is still a woman in a role that the world still assumes is only done by men, so she feels a certain amount of expectation to suck it up. also, it probably doesn’t help that she was raised around men who also never cried (#thanksToxicMasculinity) so she hardly did that. so if she does cry in front of you, something is really, really wrong.
when nic makes her coffee in the morning, she has to stir the drink 8 times before her first sip. if she buys it? she swirls it 8 times. don’t ask, she doesn’t know why but she’s always done it.
nic’s first job was working as a indoor amusement park attendant for tiny children. she hated it, but she got to work there with her high school best friend and they had some decent times there. but to this day, watching someone operate a ferris wheel gives her slight anxiety.
nic has never owned a car, just her Yamaha V-Star 650 Custom, which she calls Daisy. she loves her bike--and she’s had it since she was in her early twenties. her father and brother were pissed when she bought it, but it was her choice and nic had always wanted one. they were worried she’d break her neck--and perhaps she had been close a few times. but neither of them need to know that. she loves the look on people’s faces when she pulls up on her bike and they don’t know her. its so satisfying for her to see their look of surprise.
nic’s fictional female icons go: megara, kim possible, mia thermopolis, carol danvers, maria rambeau and maria deluca. no questions.
nic watches a lot of documentaries, a habit she picked up from her brother. he loved watching them because they inevitably helped him kick butt in jeopardy. she kept his tradition alive when he passed--recording jeopardy episodes so she can play when she gets home from work. she’s pretty good, actually.
she can only watch one (1) scripted/reality tv show at a time, unless its live on tv at the moment. right now, she’s binging roswell, new mexico--but queer eye is next. and yes, while she doesn’t cry in public, you can bet your ass she’ll be tearing up watching that show. she always does.
surprise to no one, nic was a camp counselor and loved it. favorite parts of her summer as a college kid. she didn’t really care how werid she got for the kids, they loved it and therefore she was doing her job and doing it well.
celebrity crushes? sure: chris evans, chris hemsworth, robert downey jr., ryan gosling, alex gaskarth, michael b jordan, henry golding.
nic is not an organized person, not one bit. its why cooking and her do not mix well--she can never get her mise en place together enough for it to be a nice flow. but there are certain things that nic prefers to be disorganized (or, how she calls organized chaos) and her desk at work is one of them. she likes that her desk matches her brain, messy but gets the job done.
nic owns dresses, surprise! she never wears them, but they are in her closet--tucked away. sometimes she thinks about putting on one to just...confuse everyone, but she never does. deep down, she wouldn’t hate wearing one or two, but she doesn’t have a place to do it and she’d never gotten into the...fashion scene. she’ll tell you until she’d blue in the face that she doesn’t “do” fashion, but its because she never learned how to. her mom wasn’t around to help her figure out makeup, clothing, hairstyles--and her brother and father didn’t care about it. so she just...doesn’t. which, is fine most of the time, but sometimes she thinks about trying and then pushes it aside.
she also still has her wedding dress. but we don’t talk about that.
is it cliche to say she likes donuts? maybe. does she give a shit about cliches? nope.
she’s got a bit of a sailors mouth, but she sure as hell doesn’t give a shit. in fact, if you don’t curse, she thinks you’re weird as hell.
her favorite shoes are chucks and chacos. and no, she didn’t plan that.
waffle house is one of her favorite restaurants and her order goes like this: all star breakfast with sunny side up eggs, bacon, and a side of scattered and covered hashbrowns and a diet coke. or and don’t forget the grape jelly.

task 08 | marley’s high school experience
let’s start with the simple stuff first. what classes did you take in high school? which ones were you most and least excited for? did you have a favorite teacher that made the days more enjoyable?
“oh, just the basics! math, english, science, social studies. i took a couple home ec classes, too. p.e., obviously. i was also one of, like, two girls in my shop class? maybe? it was probably one of my favorite classes in schoo, actually! aside from biology. i live for anatomy and physiology. my senior year i ended up in ap bio and actually managed a 4 on the exam and nearly lost my mind. coach thompkins taught all the bio classes - and coached basketball as well, obviously - so he wins favorite by default. he just always made class so fun! even when we were talkin’ about something like dna and rna and the super boring stuff, he found a way to make it enjoyable.”
and now, outside of the classroom. did you participate in any extracurricular activities like sports, band, or other clubs? were you apart of the prom planning committee or did your parent always sign up to chaperone field trips? or did you bolt home or to work at the end of the day?
“i didn’t join a whole lot if anythin’ until my junior year ‘cause i was focused on gettin’ out of my house and away from my parents. once i did, though, i did a lot. i joined ffa (don’t judge me), yearbook, dance team, track, student council, and then i worked on the ranch when i wasn’t runnin’ around with school stuff. i didn’t do band or anything like that. my artistic abilities end with dance. the most i ever did with prom or homecoming was fundraiser stuff and, like, making’ sure we stayed within our budget. i left the party plannin’ to the kids who had that kinda vision, because it definitely was not me. my parents were, obviously, not involved in the slightest. my grandparents were pretty prominent in the community, though, and they definitely got involved and helped chaperone stuff, which was a blessin’ and a curse. there was definitely no sneakin’ off to make out under the bleachers when paw was keepin’ an eye on things.”
a night to remember. did you go to prom? if so, did you have a date or fly solo, and was it a good time where you danced all night, and what were you wearing? if not, did you have an ‘anti-prom’ party, or why else did you decide not to go? what about other school dances or pep rallies?
“i actually went all four years of high school. i loved dances - more so for the dancin’ and social aspects than the dresses and dates! obviously the first two years i had dates - different guy friends - but my junior year i went solo! it was easily the most fun i had! senior year i went with a guy i dated for, like, three seconds. y’all know how high school relationships can be. i actually think i still have all four of my dresses tucked away at maw and paw’s somewhere? i’m a sentimental girl; i couldn’t get rid of ‘em. the first two were second hand because i bought ‘em myself. maw and paw bought my last two - my dress junior year was by far my favorite. it was, like, this periwinkle color? and so sparkly - i looked like a disco ball - and just a little risque. at least by high school standards, anyway. it was one of the first times i felt genuinely beautiful. as far as other dances went, we really only did homecoming? we never had any of those sadie hawkins things, thank god! i never woulda been able to ask the guys i liked to go back then. shockingly enough, i went to all my homecomings, too! i actually ended up on court my senior year! i didn’t win, but it was still fun! plus, the guy who won king that year was a giant jerk and i would have ended up kneein’ him in the groin or something while we danced. i didn’t have much of a choice with pep rallies - the dance team was always expected to perform, so i went. i was also a varsity athlete my junior and senior years, so when you letter you gotta go. i never minded, though! i liked the energy and bein’ over-the-top excited about things has always been my forte.”
some more of the hard hitting q’s. who did you sit with at lunch? did you keep the lock off your locker or decorate it? were your headphones always snaked through your sleeve? was cutting class a normal occurrence or would you never dare? did you ever get detention?
“ooohh, good question! if i remember correctly, my freshman and sophomore years i sat with a bunch of the more….troublesome upperclassmen. as a lovely little ‘screw you’ to my parents. if i couldn’t actually go out and be a giant pain in their asses, i was damn sure gonna make sure it looked like i still was to all their friends. middle of my sophomore year was when i ended up switchin’ schools and after that i usually sat with a few of my dance friends or other kids that i ran track with. i bounced between them and my ffa and student council friends through my senior year, but my dance friends were always my go-to. definitely never locked my locker. i had a helluva time rememberin’ my combo and i was damn near always runnin’ late, so i always left it unlocked. it was also always a giant disater. it’s a miracle i ever knew where anything was in my locker. we were never allowed to have our headphones in during any of our classes, so definitely not. i woulda gotten in so much trouble if i’d been caught doin’ that. i cut class pretty regularly my freshman year, but got my act together after that. every once in a blue moon i would after movin’ in with my grandparents, but it was always very strategic and i was very careful not to get caught. sorry maw & paw! eh, a couple times my freshman year, but not after that. definitely not after i started dancin’ and runnin’ track. my coaches would have had me runnin’ suicides until i passed out.”
upward and onward. what did you want to be when you were sixteen? was there a career path in mind, a certain college, another route worth taking? were you excited to see your high school in the rearview mirror or was moving on bittersweet?  if you graduated, was it scary or exciting or a mix of both? did you end up where your younger self expected you to?
“emancipated.” she laughed. “truly, though. that was the only goal i really had up until it happened. after that it took a minute. i didn’t really think i’d ever get to a point where i’d get to choose what to do with my life? there had always been this unspoken rule that i did what they said so long as i was their kid and nothin’ i wanted ever mattered to ‘em. for a while i thought i’d just work on the ranch, maybe take over when paw couldn’t do it anymore. some days i still think i might go back and take over and open my own vet clinic. somehow figure out a way to do both - carry on the buckley legacy and forge my own. but who knows! i gotta finish vet school first! speakin’ of, i never imagined college; definitely never thought i’d end up with multiple degrees. sixteen year old me would be floored to see me now. by the end of my senior year, though, i was kind of excited to see what i was actually capable of. i knew i was gonna miss high school and all my friends, but i also knew college was gonna be this new, excitin’ challenge? i’ve always loved a challenge and it was a chance to show my parents that they were wrong to shove me in their tiny little box and...i really do live for those moments, if i’m bein’ honest. that bein’ said, every time i’ve graduated or hit a milestone with school it’s been a little bit of a shock. i think it’s more or less that other people are still proud of my accomplishments - it never fails to throw me for a loop. definitely a mix of both scary and excitin’. i always try to lean into the excitement a little bit more, though. my younger self never woulda dreamt of bein’ here, so absolutely not. i really thought i’d end up married to a carbon copy of my father, hatin’ my life by now when i was a kid. i’d like to thank the powers that be that it didn’t happen.”
and last but not least. if you could tell your younger self one thing - what would it be?
“this is always so hard because there are so many things i would say to a younger me? i’d probably tell her to just...enjoy it more. don’t worry so much about disappointin’ the people who matter to you because there’s nothing you’ll do that’ll make them love you less. so, y’know, just be a kid and enjoy the moments when you’re in them.”

Megavolt Headcanons!
Tumblr media
This one’s for good ol’ Elmo Sputterspark, that one kid that didn’t forget what an electrically charged noogie could do to a person and now he’s out for payback! Along with the emancipation of electronics but mainly revenge. Most of this will be to streamline the canon from the show, the comics, and then original headcanons. I’ll also say this, the show takes priority for these but sometimes I may give way to the comics or personal headcanons due to the fact of how the show explains it can be wrong or just the situation in of itself being wrong.
Voltaic Whirl, the move is that Megavolt would spin his hands in a motion that makes a circle of electricity in front of him, then reel it back like a skeeball to charge and aim before releasing it towards whatever he's planning to hit. He can do an enhanced version of this that becomes Volatile Voltaic Whirl.
Then there’s Lightning Lance, a move where Megs can call down a large bolt of lightning from the sky or ionic clouds that he disperses. He can delay when they strike for the right timing or for double the pain if he wishes to make two or more strike down at the same time.
Thunder Torrent, a radial wave of electrical energy that mainly works on the ground. Pretty much not a real dangerous move, but it can stun opponents and cause some damage if slightly charged.
Exo Electric Black would be his final resort, a move that takes a long time to charge, but it results in a blast that could wipe out a few buildings. Once he uses this, he has to recharge as the recoil does pull a number on his body.
(I’ll come up with more later but these are just the named ones. They aren’t all going to be named.)
Anyway, Elmo’s pretty much had a bit of a rough time after his incident that got him his powers and basically got sent to real jail even though he was a minor at the time (It all took place during high school years). He could see that prison was about as every bit of messed up as the people joked about it outside of the place, and the inmates were not very good to try and socialize with. Not that he got raped, though there were some moments where he thought that was going to happen. Yet he would get a trial to see if he was guilty and deserved the full punishment allowed for attempting mass genocide or it would be minimized. Eventually after some months of having his trial, he was let off of the hook easy with the rest of his education be closely watched as he would be put on probation, but allowed to continue his life, for his second chance.
Seeing that as an opportunity, the rat was able to get back into school, get his education, but lose even more than he barely had to begin with when he was normal. No one would want to talk with someone that was about to kill them all at their prom party, or was it graduation? Ah, he can’t really remember, but he does know it wasn’t homecoming. Around this time, he still had to take classes with other students so he could get the somewhat feeling of being normalized, but he had to do it under the constant pressure of not using his new powers. This led to him being unable to express himself to his full potential, both in a constructive or negative way. As he had to essentially be just what he was like before, it made new bullies a lot more difficult to fend off, but at least the old ones knew not to trifle with him anymore.
That all pretty much stayed a constant until it seemed like a certain Drake Mallard was willing to still talk to him, still be a friend. Even after he had declared to roast everyone at the party, and yet somehow he hadn’t seen Mallard there. Did he even go? Oh, wait! He did go, just that he forgot about it. It was something he learned about so much later into his life, and stayed as one of the few things he would keep to himself. He didn’t want anyone else knowing that drake’s little secret but him, and he especially didn’t want to snitch. Negaduck should have known who Darkwing was all along, but now we’re just getting ahead of ourselves. The avian would eventually become his friend, something that Elmo would take great delight to, and even decided to stay in touch after high school was over. Entering their college days, he would go off to the same college as Drake so they could pay for the room and board together along with tuition and whatever else they needed. It was around this time too that the rodent have begun to develop feelings for the duck, and he wasn’t one to let it hide either. He knew to tone it down in public, but when in private he definitely was more expressive with it. He adored the cute little duck, and just was happy to have someone to be around with. His family weren’t exactly proud of him for what he did and once he was off to college they wanted no association with him anymore. He didn’t particularly like that it happened that way, but as long as they wouldn’t interfere with him, he didn’t mind it much.
It didn’t take long for old wants and desires to resurface around the middle years of his bachelor’s degree and tempt him to do bad things again. Whether he had known it or not, the same person that was his roommate also just happened to be who would eventually become his greatest adversary. During an attempt to basically detonate the campus and everyone on it one day because they had given him too much stress through finals and deadlines, Darkwing would foil that plan and again he would go to court for his crimes against the people which would land him in the electric chair. Since that was the standard way of how the government could legally kill someone, he was put through the process to no avail as it only gave him more power than he had before. With that, he escaped the prison and began his life as a criminal, seeing that all of the people he had known were nothing but hypocrites and terrible at best. Instead, he’d align himself with the appliances and electric empowered objects as he could now listen to them and they seemed to be much more better than the flesh sacks that despised and rejected him.
Eventually, everything would somewhat play out the same like it does throughout the series, but there are a few more encounters Megavolt’s had with Darkwing and other various heroes, but that’s to be expected. And this portrayal of Megavolt does have him regain his memory of who Darkwing is after Clash Reunion (Darkwing Duck episode). That way he’ll be able to remember all that he needs to know.
Now, for his DuckTales 2017 Universe/Version, Dan Mousetellaneta, and Elmer Sputterspark in the Darkwing Duck television show universe within DT17. So Dan wasn’t exactly what one would consider a total geek, but just didn’t manage to quite make the cut from being unpopular during his high school life. All that he really wanted was to just find something that could stick with him and keep on that path. While he did have his eyes on a couple of the more visually pleasing girls around that time, he couldn’t dare mess with them or by proxy he’d be messing with their boyfriends, and that definitely was not something he wanted to do. Being unpopular was fine, but badly injured and unpopular was just not a way to live.
Fortunately enough while he was going through one of those little club activity day events, he found himself taking an interest to the drama club and the science club. They both had their virtues as well as their downsides, but at least he gave himself something to do to take his mind off of his regular studies. Exploring more of the drama club got him into do doing small plays where he was best playing side characters and perhaps the occasional henchmen or villain’s pupil. He was fine with those performances as he was able to try and be someone else, get wrapped up into their world, and act them out as if they were real. Of course, the story did still have to take priority, but he was allowed to give the roles he played a little flavor, and he enjoyed it. Eventually the audience really liked the roles that he played because of how he played them, and wanted to see more of him which in turn gave the leader of the club an opportunity to offer him. Would he like to play a main role this time around? He accepted it with the idea of having a good time trying out something he wasn’t used to and began doing some basic research on the role he was given. It was a villain role of course, but he didn’t mind too much. After all, there were probably other people who were good at only playing the villain too?
Once the shows for the play started to go by, he would give the audience all that he had and it led to some good feedback, praise, and overall reception. Though out in the crowd, there was a person in the acting business that was surprised by well the talent the high school had and went behind the stage to see if any of them had interest in advancing their knowledge of the field. By this time Dan was almost don with high school anyway, and decided to accept it since he was really feeling like this was something he wanted to do, and felt great about doing it. As he would later on graduate from the high school, he attended an acting college to learn even more about the hobby that was starting to become a career choice for him. It didn’t take long until he realized that he had very tough competition, but that would only enhance the performances if everyone respected each other well enough. There were some he got along with, and some he didn’t, but over time he would find himself once again getting a lot of recognition for the villain roles that he played. He was afraid to play the hero since he wasn’t really sure if he was capable of it, so he stuck with the side of the villains and neutral characters.
With a few more years passing, he would leave the school with his bachelor’s degree in theatrics and drama before having some appearances on television. He got on the TV by taking a lot of auditions and seeing how this would differ from when he was on a regular stage. Some of the parts he really wanted weren’t accepted for him and others were. It gave him a chance to see that out on television, you just do the best with what you can get. Yet after doing a couple of family sitcoms and spooky horror series shows, there would be one that he couldn’t forget after he worked with the crew on, and that was the superhero show aimed for children on Saturday mornings, Darkwing Duck. He had no idea what it was, as one of his friends in the business came to him about this, and he was intrigued. He’d get to be a villain, but also have some freedom to work with his character he was being given? At that point, he was willing to give it a shot since it had been a while since he could actually invent something more unique for others to see, or maybe for how personal it was.
Arriving on the set the first day all of the actors for the season were supposed to, he got familiar with his fellow actors and it was this day that would begin a little bit of a downward slope with him and Jim Starling, the actor who had the role of Darkwing Duck, and Jim Sterling within the show. He didn’t really seem too bad at first, being pretty safe with what he did, and how the banter used to always have a witty but also snappy feeling to it. The dialogue, character arcs, and the overall nature of the episodes did lend itself greatly to Dan as he enjoyed the variety the writers and producers along with the rest of the team could come up with. Gradually though, Jim would begin to start getting a bit more harsher with his dramatic moments, actually injure some of the actors, and eventually began to make up some uninteresting variations to catchphrases and lines. The ratings for it were very high, even from the transition from season 1 to 2, but the people behind the show felt that Jim was getting his head stuck too far in the clouds, and eventually with the damages and expenses there was too much money going into the show to keep it ongoing for another season.
Normally, Dan wasn’t the best guy Jim got along with on the set, but he seemed to fare better than some of the others. It did stink that he could see how Jim was slowly beginning to get more violent with the rest of the crew just to keep the show going, to keep the franchise that he “built up” going. Everyone in the product contributed, even Jim, but that did not mean that he had to put himself up above others like he was the only well known person out of the end of the series. With how selfish the duck seemed to him, he only continued working until the show’s cancellation so that way the children wouldn’t have to worry about his role getting replaced out of nowhere.
Some time after that he moved onto other shows and movies, allowing for his fans to see even more of him than what they had to work with before he was cast as the role of Megavolt on the Darkwing Duck show. He did enjoy that one greatly, but until someone was interested in doing a revival of the franchise and Jim learned that he was not everything that was Darkwing Duck, he wouldn’t do it. With the news of there being a new Darkwing Duck movie to revitalize the brand, he did contact the director, but ultimately turned down returning to the role of Megavolt as the version that Alistair Boorswan was going for sounded a bit too “out of focus” with what the original show was meant to be.

For the rival teachers au, what did the seniors do for the prank???? (I love this au)
Here’s the Zoyalai Teachers AU
Thanks for the ask!!
The plan had Three Phases
First Phase: Convince Nikolai and Zoya to chaperone this year’s Prom (it was Romanov themed)
This was hard sell, considering neither felt like wasting a Friday night watching overly hormonal teenagers get secretly drunk and finding ways to take advantage of the dark lights
What convinced Nikolai was his students showing off their high test scores and saying that having him there would make their senior years
What convinced Zoya was simply the phrase, “What better way to rub it into Mr. Lantsov’s face that you won by also showing up?”
First Phase: Complete
Second Phase: the secret campaign that the seniors have been orchestrating for months now
This phase was surprisingly easy, as the senior class of 2019 was absolutely sick of the longing glances both parties refused to acknowledge when they passed each other in the hall
Second Phase: Complete
Third Phase: Execution
“Alright everyone! It’s time to bring up this year’s homecoming court!” The overly eager voice of the student body president was drowned out by a loud cheer
Zoya winced at the sound, and Nikolai clapped along with the rest
If either were being honest, they didn’t have a too terrible time tonight
The juniors and seniors were actually behaving fairly well, and with the relief that can only come from the end of year, it seems Zoya and Nikolai’s relationship seemed to teeter on the edge of being friendly
“Congratulations on your win, Nazyalensky.” Nikolai muttered as the Prom court was being introduced
Zoya’s grin took his breath away, and he had an unnatural desire to want to keep it there for forever.
“I hate being proven right, but it was a good game.” She outstretched her hand Nikolai took it, letting his hand rest a second too long
The lights shifted, and Nikolai caught a sparkle in them that definitely was making him want to do something rash-- like ask her out
As he opened his mouth the sound of the rest of the dance filtered in at a key moment
“And announcing this year’s Prom King and Queen, Nikolai Lantsov and Zoya Nazyalensky!”
Both adults froze in the middle of their handshake
“Why in the--”
“I didn’t--”
Spotlights found them too quickly, and the smiling beaming faces of all the students in the ballroom were turned toward them
Out of nowhere, one of Nikolai’s best students (Isaak) and one of Zoya’s students (Mayu) stepped up and put a crown on both of their heads
“Will the King and Queen step forward to start their inaugural dance?”
Zoya’s mouth fell open, while Nikolai’s mind sped forward
His kids were the worst-- but they were also the best
“Shall we, Your Majesty?”
“You can’t be serious, Lantsov.” She wasn’t even going to pretend to ignore the way her chest tightened at the very idea of slow dancing with Nikolai
“I’m quite serious. The public has cast their votes!”
Without another word, he grabbed her hand and led her to the dance floor
and she just let him
“Our students are devious.” Zoya said after the music started and they had settled into a comfortable swaying rhythm
“They have us for teachers, of course they are,” He pulled away for a brief moment only to twirl Zoya under his arm before drawing her closer than before, “But I’m rather proud of them.”
“For rigging the election and forcing us to dance?”
Nikolai laughed, and the sound was sweeter than anything Zoya has ever heard
“I have never seen anyone force you to do anything, Nazyalensky. So one could assume you’re dancing with me quite voluntarily.”
Another spin and by the time they were face to face, Zoya’s smile was luminescent.
“You think too highly of yourself.”
“Someone has to.” A pause and Nikolai gathered his courage, “But if you really would rather stop and go our separate ways, then just say the word.”
Zoya let him lead her in the dance for a few seconds before shrugging, “I guess I can finish this dance.”
“And if I were to ask you for another?”
Zoya caught sincerity buried deep within the mischief in his eyes
“Then I guess I can do that one too.”

IN CHARACTER
Okay Walt, clearly it’s been a while! We’ve gone through prom, a Neverland field trip, yet another almost-wedding (plus the arrest that made it possible), a beach bash, a slew of breakups, and a few fun hookups, and now we’re at Homecoming season! How crazy! As you must know by now, Homecoming is on Saturay, October 5th following our homecoming football game that Friday, and the theme is Carnival! So like, hopefully that means flashing lights, cotton candy and fun games and not like....dwarf-tossing or biting the heads off of chickens for sport. Word is that our Bjorgman girl is raising money for the cheer squad by setting up a kissing booth! Wonder who’ll wander on in and pay for a peck!
Last month we had our new annual end-of-summer event to replace WaltFest: The Beach Bash! And it was a blast -- hopefully this means it gets to stick around for another few years to see if it can stir up any more drama like it did this year! Following the epic return of her ex, our Pelekai girl was spotted smooching last year’s football captain in the middle of a Hannah Montana set! Sound familiar? Cause that’s kind of the same thing that happened at WaltFest two years ago! Hmm...Wonder what that’s all about? But anyway, all summer she was reported to be dating her ex-ex-bestie. Is this yet another #Korli triad? I bet our Woods kid would not be opposed to that. The Olympus boy sure didn’t seem to mind when it was him.
In other Beach Bash news, talk about a shock when Pixie Hollow’s fave couple that everyone thought had been broken up for almost a year by now was spotted kissing on the jumbotron! Yikes! So far they seem to be laying low about the whole thing but like...was this a reconciliation? Had they been faking us out this whole time??? Only time will tell! Speaking of Pixie Hollow Hookups, apparently on our little Neverland trip, two certain fairies fell madly in love while babysitting their non-fairy bestie! What makes that awkward though? That one fairy and the non-fairy bestie have totally been in a Walt-wide ‘will-they-won’t-they’ for like TWO YEARS. So what’s going on?! Is it finally a definitive ‘won’t they’??? Ugh, and the cherry on top of the awkward cake is that all three of them are roomies. Yikies! I feel like I’ve covered enough, but hopefully I’ll be back soon with homecoming drama!
OUT OF CHARACTER
Wow have I really not done an update since MAY. Smh anyway, send your muses’ homecoming court desires to the events blog by the 30th for them to start campaigning! Y’all are awesome I love you!

these swimsuits will help you remain afloat and keep your body buoyant yellow homecoming dresses%#@%*&*S^8
Your decision made in Australian Federal Court was overturned soon after the first decision giving merit towards the charges. The case through the Canadian Competition Bureau wouldn’t even get in the evening preliminary hearing. I think, are these decisions right? Well, I am not a lawyer, but with my basic understanding of the cases & experience from the industry, I believe they probably are the correct decisions. The case is exact opposite in open waters. Open waters are actually unpredictable, changing its nature every few minutes. It might be still at the moment and raging after an hour, lightweight specialty swimwear is a must while swimming in open waters. Firstly, it’s important for allowing you to take full strokes and not weigh your body down. In case you’re hit by huge waves, these swimsuits will help you remain afloat and keep your body buoyant yellow homecoming dresses, giving lifeguards the time to come to your rescue.

When sling bags came about, they were carried by men and women only on casual occasions. You would most likely team it up with a pair sdfhkgsfkg2019.07.03-wl of jeans and T-shirt while going to college or wear it while you are out with your friends. Sling bags are a popular choice while you had to go on an adventure. But today, these fashion accessories have evolved cheap plus size bridesmaid dresses under 30. They are available in elegant styles and chic designs so that you can carry them while wearing a dress to a party or on a date mermaid prom dress with slit. They are available in compact sizes that seem sophisticated and formal too. Am I saying that brainstorming about characters and muddling over speeches is a waste of time? I most certainly am not. What I’m saying is that you reach a certain point where your outline doesn’t need to be refined any more, where it’s time to put it onto the page and nail it down in a more concrete sense. The Writing Fairy will make you hesitate to do this, promising you that thinking really hard is writing. She’ll tell you that you aren’t ready to put anything down on the page yet, or you’re not ready to go on with the next scene because everything just doesn’t seem right. Don’t believe her, she’s deceiving you. I’d like to say that she is flat out lying, but she’s not. Things aren’t going to seem right when they first start to appear on the page. This is what seems so contradictory about the writing process. Your dreams and aspirations seem to shrink down once you actually put them into writing. For businessmen or retailers, WTF is a great platform where they can order for bulk amount of garments without paying any design service charge plus you can also get insurance on premium range t-shirts on bulk amount which you may not get on other online ventures. To buy cloths online, you can definitely choose WTF to reach your wardrobe trend to the next level. Caroline Harding is a twenty-two year old student who is studying Journalism. She is a bisexual cis female. Caroline is creative and humorous, but also noncommittal and guarded.
Cara grew up in the perfect little suburbia.  And she thrived in it. She was a varsity cheerleader, honors society student. She was homecoming queen and everyone was sure that she and her boyfriend would win prom king and queen together.  She and Sawyer had been together since the seventh grade, it seemed a little ridiculous how long they’d stayed together. The The were the textbook definition of high school sweethearts. Cheerleader and Football star. In a small town, they had a reputation to uphold.  So when Sawyer started questioning his sexuality, they stayed together.  Cara was terrified though, she loved Sawyer. As much as a 16-year-old could really love somebody at least.  And she loved her life.  A breakup after four years of dating because her boyfriend was gay would uproot everything. And there was no chance that anyone would understand, Sawyer’s life would be ruined too. But he trusted her to be there for him while she was going through it, and she was going to be. But that didn’t mean there wasn’t any strain between them.  Eventually, Cara started questioning herself, she’d always thought that girls were attractive, wondered if she wasn't with Sawyer if she would have dated a girl, or someone else.  Cara came out to Sawyer first, she didn’t know why it took her so much less time to come to an answer. But their relationship seemed to get stronger. And again when Sawyer came out. They decided to not go public with it, just told a few family members and very close friends. It was just a matter of protection, they didn’t live in a really accepting town.
Their senior year was so much easier, they were first to be nominated for homecoming and prom court, applied to the same colleges, planning out their lives together.  Cara made captain of the cheer squad, Sawyer was voted MVP at the end of the football season. Everything seemed perfect, right until Cara got pregnant. A baby would throw everything off course. But that was still their baby. Sawyer wanted Cara to get an abortion but yielded to Cara. It made sense,  they had so much more to do before they had children. They hadn’t even graduated high school.Still, there was something that didn’t feel right. But between Sawyer and her parents, Cara went through and got the abortion. Instead of prom, Sawyer and Cara held a memorial for their baby, gave it a name and had a service. Nothing was quite the same after that. The loved each other still, but Cara had to learn to deal with giving up a baby that she would have loved unconditionally. But their life went on. They both went to UCLA, and on their eighth anniversary, Sawyer proposed.  It took Cara entirely by surprise. They’d been talking about getting married since their junior year, but Cara hadn’t thought that he would have been ready before they graduated college. It was a welcome surprise, they even moved into an apartment together at the end of their sophomore year.
They started planning their wedding, Cara admittedly got carried away, she couldn’t remember every being this excited.  They fought a little, but they got through it. At least, Cara thought they got through it.  Cara came home from a class that ended early, only to find Sawyer sleeping with one of his friends. She lost it, leaving everything at the apartment, and moving in with her grandparents. She wouldn’t take calls from anyone that knew her and Sayer, including her parents.  Bought all new clothes, dyed her hair, changed her number, deleted every social media account she had.just disappeared.  Cara finished the rest semester online and then transferred to Lakewood, one of the only schools to give her a scholarship as big as UCLA had.  And she swore never again. She wasn’t going to go through it again. Wasn’t going to give herself the chance to be hurt again. No dating, no relationships, and no attachments. She wasn’t interested in the people she was sleeping with, and it could get her into trouble. Angry wives, boyfriends and everyone in between. Cara just learned to pretend she wasn’t causing other people the same pain she dealt with, and if she couldn’t ignore it, she’d drink. And she didn’t have plans to change anytime soon.
