This Week In BL
Feb 2021 Part 3
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series Thai
1000 Stars Ep 4 - so flipping lovely, I’ve come entirely around to this show.
Manner of Death Ep 13 - the penultimate episode was as angsty & twisty as we could want, but it’s starting to feel a bit stretched. Although new tag #oakcake is the best thing ever.
Brothers Ep 2 - still a mess but there’s a cute foodie side couple (young college student wants cute older baker). As the world’s foremost ChampDoc proponent I am obviously in it for them. The other couples though... eek.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series Not Thai
You Are Ma Boy Ep 6 (Vietnam) - second week running with no new episode and no indication as to why. If it ended at 5 then it ended on a cliffhanger. Grrr.
Amore Ep 27 (Pinoy) - FINALLY finished its run at 27 episodes! TWENTY SEVEN. I stopped watching it ages ago but it’s done now so if you’re a binger and you need to see the “everyone wants Joey” show, it’s all on YouTube. We salute your bravery.
Tumblr media
Stand Alones
Finally watched Korea’s Step For You from 2018 (in preparation for You Make Me Dance). OMG it’s SO CUTE. And who says Korea can’t do kisses? Oh wait, that was me. Anyway, no dead fish here. School newspaper journalist has to interview the next big thing senior dancer and falls in love with him. Short af but ADORABLE.
I got my brains back and decided to FINALLY watch 2015 Japanese BL Seven Days. It comes in two parts: Seven Days: Monday - Thursday & Seven Days: Friday - Sunday. You can watch it eng subbed on YouTube. It’s one of the best Japanese BLs ever made (FIGHT ME) and that’s because it has a lot of the breezy style of something like 2gether (with, sadly the same heat level - low). The leads have a similar comfort level with each other which yields up fantastic on screen chemistry. It’s a charming af high school story with none of the usual stalker/obsession/rapey elements (nor the egregiously cartoonish humor) I’ve come to expect from Japanese BL. Despite the setting, it’s a lot more in the Cherry Magic vain than, say, Takumi-kun. GO WATCH IT. The hair is bonkers, but if that’s all I can think of bad to say, you know it must be good.
Tumblr media
The TharnType Wedding Special PPV dropped last week. Champ & Doc officially got together so I was happy. They hit a bunch of tropes, said I do, and that was that. I pronounce it...
Tumblr media
Breaking News - So Many Teasers & They Dark AF
More promos for HIStory 4 keep dropping so I think we can assume this is coming sooner rather than later. (Taiwan doesn’t raise funding the way Thailand does with test teasers, so we only see promo when the thing has started filming.)
We Best Love 2 dropped its trailer. It’s a doozie. We’re all hoping for a happy ever after but frankly Taiwan means 50/50 chance at best. They love pathos and many of us will never recover from HIStory 3: Make Our Days Count. I’m terrified by the season 2 trailer.
You Make Me Dance dropped a teaser, that’s our next one out of Korea.
Lovely Writer showed its dark underbelly with a new angst-riddled teaser... what’s that? A wheaser?
Secret Admirer the Series dropped its first teaser. I had this one on the rumors list but not actual, so I bumped it up in the upcoming 2021 BL master post. It’s only a taste, it could be gunning for 2022. The director can’t be trusted with happy endings - so I’m not sure about it.
Tumblr media
Gossip
Wild rumors persist that there will be a new 2gether installment in which someone gets married. I wouldn’t be surprised to see GMMTV milk that cash cow especially if F4 is delayed. (With all these BLs featuring marriage, maybe the Thai government will legalize it on account of the boost destination weddings would give the tourist industry post covid?)
Bad Roommate dropped a teaser for all you Gen Y Padlock lovers out there (waves at @heretherebedork). Do we trust Star Hunter after the Gen Y debacle? Maybe? I don’t know. Who cares, it’s fresh content.
More rumors of a We Best Love special episode before season 2. If they’re true my guess is it’s another behind the scenes thingy.
Fish Upon the Sky is reported to drop ep 1 on Friday, April 9th, 2021! This is the rivals to lovers BL I’ve been waiting for!
I am SO FLIPPING EXCITED.
Initial murmurs about Close Friend - a 6 ep run featuring established BL ships from an unknown director: KimCop (2Moons & Gen Y), OhmFluke (Until We Meet Again), JimmyTommy & MaxNat (Why R U), JaFirst (TharnType 2), and YoonLay (YYY). Either each couple gets their own episode (like Our Skyy) or it will be more like You Never Eat Alone. Ships may or may not be playing the same characters as previous.
Tumblr media
A few more promo shots posted for Y-Destiny. It looks more serious than director Cheewin normally goes for (YYY & You Never Eat Alone). I don’t know if that means anything or if it’s just a mature styling we’re seeing in Thai BL as a result of the actors getting older and the influence of Manner of Death and KinnPorsche.
Speaking of You Never Eat Alone is supposed to be finally dropping official Eng Subs somewhere, and ep 9 features Prem & Boun. I’m not bothering with this one so I don’t know where it’s posting.

Next Week Looks Like This:
Tumblr media
Upcoming 2021 BL master post here.
Links to watch are provided when possible, ask in a comment if I missed something.

Daytime TV (Fictober Prompt 13)
Prompt number: 13
Fanfiction Fandom: Ducktales
Rating: G
Warnings: Gen
Read the story on AO3
In college, Fenton had steeled himself for the idea that sometimes, you have to work to the job, not the clock. He expected late nights in the lab with his colleagues, working on some new breakthrough. He’d imagined it over late-night papers: they would take turns making strong coffee for everyone and pour over the problem until -- eureka! -- the answer came and they could all go home, job well done.
While college-him would have been excited beyond measure to hear that he’d eventually be a superhero, he also expected that a late night might not mean eight or ten at night, and might instead mean one or two in the morning.
He dragged the duffle containing the suit through the front door as quietly as he could, hoping not to wake M’ma. Well after midnight on a Thursday night … it would just make her own Friday at work more difficult.
The house lay dark, but not quiet -- she’d left the TV on, volume low, showing syndicated episodes of El Amor y el Traicion. As Fendon eased the costume inside and locked the door behind him, a woman on the TV (Sofia, he thought her name was) clung to the arm of … was that Raul? Or Roberto? They’d been … twins, right? And one was the evil twin, but after about two years they’d revealed that all of the evil he did was to convince their godmother, who put a curse on them, that the curse was working and…
Oh man, He definitely needed some sleep.
He heaved to pull the bag up onto his shoulder and began creeping across the living room toward his room. If he could get to sleep in the next half hour he could get a good five hours before it was time to get up and go to work. It would be more than he got last night. Or the night before. Assuming he could get to sleep in the next half hour. Which, statistically speaking, was unlikely given the data from the last three months. But he could-
“Fenton?”
M’ma’s voice, unexpected in the darkness, brought him to a halt. For a second, he felt disoriented by it -- that didn’t sound like it came from her bedroom. It took another couple seconds for his brain to put it all together.
The TV was on because she was watching it.
“Can’t sleep?” he asked, trying to sound cheerful.
“Can’t call and let your mother know you’re going to be late?” she replied wryly.
He glanced back toward the door, and in his mind, toward the accident out on the ocean. Everything was fine. Everyone was safe. But ferrying everyone from the sinking ship to safety on shore had been a near thing, and he’d pushed the engines in the suit right to the edge, just a little faster, because you didn’t want to be too late for the last survivors.
“Sorry. I was a little busy,” he replied, looking back but unable to look her in the eye.
“Come. Sit.”
He looked longingly toward his bedroom. That five hours of sleep was looking less and less likely. But what, was he going to blow off his mother after she waited up for him?
So he set the duffle down behind the couch and came around to sit next to her. His posture was that of a naughty child called to the principal’s office -- straight back, shoulders in, hands knotted together on his knees.
For a long few seconds, they sat there in near silence as Sofia exposited about finding her husband (or was it his twin?) in bed with another woman who worked with him at the hospital. She’s mad, he thought. Why else wait up? But about what. It can’t be tonight’s work. Did I forget to lock the door this morning? Did I do something that interfered in one of her investigations by accident? Maybe I-
“We used to watch this show back when you were just in grade school. Do you remember?”
Well, this wasn’t what he’d expected. “Kind of,” he said, not wanting to admit he could still remember the names, and some of the plotlines, of this convoluted old show.
She made a thoughtful little hum. “I think I remember the day we watched this episode. It was the day after the fifth grade science fair. You stayed home sick.”
He felt his face grow warm. “Ah. I think you might be right,” he said.
She chuckled a little. Clearly this was a far less embarrassing memory for her than for him. “Do you remember what happened?”
“Yes, M’ma,” he said.
But as though she hadn’t heard him, she said, “You were going to make that volcano, but then you had an idea. Always with the ideas, even back then. You stayed up so late, working on it. Turning milk into…”
“Plastic,” he supplied, giving up and relaxing on the couch. He could still feel the tension in his limbs, a visceral force. As he sat on their familiar couch, he felt that start to ease away a bit. He really didn’t sit on the couch enough anymore.
“Ah, yes. With an entire gallon of milk from the fridge, then you asked for more.” Her tone was caught between chiding and chuckling. “I would tell you lights out, then I’d come back half an hour later to find you with the flashlight, working again. You got it done though. I wasn’t sure, but you did it.”
He laughed, remembering. The teacher had been surprised when the presentation wasn’t the same as what he’d submitted, but they’d had to admit he did a good job. And he had -- even if it took basically three straight overnights to put together. But once the idea had hit him, he’d had to see it through.
“You had a fever before we even got home,” she reminisced. “But you still wanted to go to school the next morning. Remember?”
“Ah… yeah.”
“I never understood that,” she said, nudging him. “Most kids want a day off from school. You cried over it.”
“Well…”
He wasn’t going to say anything more. But he was tired, and she was watching him with that curious look, the one that told him that she, at least, honestly wanted to hear what he had to say right now. So he explained with a bit of shame, “I thought you were disappointed in me. Because I got sick from not listening. I felt … guilty.”
“Ah, pollito.” She reached over with one arm to pull him into a hug and he accepted it. “Not disappointed. Worried. But never disappointed. And it was kind of nice, just sitting home for a day with you.”
They sat in silence for a couple minutes, letting the drama play out on the TV. The show had been out of production for years, and the video quality showed its age. It gave him a sense of nostalgia, just watching it. He remembered other days watching this with his mother -- snow days, or holidays. It felt … warm. Comfortable.
“So, what brought this on?” he asked after a bit.
She looked over at him, a flat, knowing look that spoke volumes. “Because I’m worried,” she said, as though that were obvious. And he guessed in retrospect, it was.
“It’s fine though,” he said. “I’m fine.”
She looked at him another couple seconds, then sighed heavily. “I know you are,” she said. “Until you’re not. Fenton. I know you. I know you do every job you have the best you possibly can. You take care of everything. Except yourself. Look at you. You’ve gotten, what, ten hours sleep in the last three days?”
“Eleven,” he said defensively. Then, under her gaze, he quietly added, “If you round up?” when she just raised an eyebrow, he deflated. “Yes. Fine. I admit it, there hasn’t been a lot of time lately. There’s work during the day, and lately it seems that bad luck is just striking all over. And nothing easy, no simple run in, pie in the face of a bank robber and I’m done. Complicated things. And it’s … I’m tired. I’m tired, but no one else can do it.”
He looked down at his clasped hands -- until he felt a gentle pressure on his cheek, lifting his face, turning it to face his mother.
“Listen,” she said. “You do … so much good. You save so many people. And you have to trust us sometimes.”
“I don’t get what you-”
“Trust us,” she said, gentle but unsmiling. Staring into his eyes, willing him to understand. “Before Gizmoduck, people were rescued. People were saved. If you take a night off, we will not all fall apart. And then you will be you when we need you. Do you understand?”
He thought about it. She wasn’t wrong. The world had other heroes -- it had people like her. Maybe… maybe he should think about that a little more. An exhaustion-born mistake could be disastrous. And maybe it didn’t even need to be the Gizmoduck side of his life he took some time from.
“You know,” he said, decision made. “I missed this. Is it OK if I watch the rest of the episode with you?”
“Are you sure you don’t need to get to bed?” she teased.
“Maybe I’ll just take tomorrow off from the lab,” he said, grinning back at her.
And on the TV, high drama continued.

About a new job
Nothing beats the feeling of rampant success like being a trainee in your 30s.
I remember watching Friends when I was a teen and thinking that even though Chandler's career change so late in life was brave, it was also deeply lame. I resented his poor life choices, I felt that in his place, if I reached that age and had built a successful career, whatever it was, I'd just stick to it and make the most of what I had.
Now that I'm a couple of years older than most of the Friends cast at the time... man. I feel ya, Mr. Bing.
I have a consistent tendency to become a workaholic in no time and overwork myself to exhaustion. And with overworking and exhausting come resentment and anger towards my employer. Instead of creating boundaries or trying to solve the issue with my company, I go on until my body and brain just can't keep up with it anymore and quit out of the blue. The company, who was happily milking me to their heart's content, freaks out. They counter-offer, schedule urgency meetings with HR to talk me out of it. Because even though I'm dead inside and constantly burnt, I'm good. I'm really good at what I do, and I'm also what I usually call a working beast. Not in a hyperbolic way, in the farm-bull-pulling-a-carriage-of-debris-across-an-uphill-field way. So I invariably end up leaving in bad terms from the company, spend a month or so trying to launch my freelance career, fail at it again because my obsessive anxiety won't let me live not knowing exactly what my detailed future is gonna be in the next month, and start again at yet another company.
And here I am now. It's 7 am. I have to wake up at 6 am in winter. This is my third day and I already want to call it quits. It's winter here, so when I opened my eyes it was so damn cold and dark. Like, pitch-black night. It's 7 am and I'm working with a desk lamp on, which gives the whole apartment a look and feel of being working overtime at the eerie hours of night that does not help my overall mood.
I know, I know. I should be thankful for the blessing of having a job in this uncertain time and age, when so many are struggling to make ends meet. I am thankful. But I am also tired and in a deep no-bullshit state of mind and soul that is not convenient to start working on a new place.
What's killing me is how disorganized they are. To begin with, I started on a Thursday. Nobody said a word to me. I'm working from home for the time being, so you can imagine the feeling of WTH when you're staring at Skype on your desk, waiting for someone to remember that they have to train you. I eventually gave up. I devoted myself to reading the endless HR messages and whatever employee manuals they sent my way and then I binged a couple of episodes of Cherry Magic! on Crunchyroll.
Then someone showed up. I suspect they are my immediate boss, but who knows. I don't even have a company organization chart. They asked me to complete about 50 e-learning tutorials for a determined software, take the tests that would trigger once I watched it all, and send them the certificates of completion as proof.
I told them that in my previous job, and the job before that one, and the one before the job before that one, I used to teach advanced courses on that software for professionals. Do you really want me to do this instead of, you know, learning something more specific to my position that would allow me to be useful to you sooner?
No, do the tutorials. It will be good to review the basics.
Fine. My fighting spirit is dead anyways. I choose my battles now. My boss (I guess they are) made clear they expected the e-learning to take my whole first day, and vanished into oblivion.
So, I didn't watch the videos. I accessed the tests through a different website that gave people the chance to take them without watching that fuckload of tutorials, completed them in 15 minutes, downloaded my perfect-score certificates and devoted the rest of my working day to inking my webcomic.
Day 2 was no better at first until at some point near my lunch hour the exhausted coworker for whose immediate benefit I was hired appeared and gave me a task to complete. I won't bore you with the details, but in short, they asked me to prepare a batch of files to be sent for revision before the final delivery to the client.
I was not taught how to do it. They sent me a link to download a previous delivery to use as a reference.
I managed to complete the task, of course I did. It's what I do best, I find my way on my own under pressure and against the clock. But I'm pissed. I'm pissed because this, you don't do *this*.
I'm fine with it because I am who I am, a 30 year old with no soul, no expectations, and a ton of experience dealing with this crap.
But what if I had been a proper newbie in the industry? A junior fresh outta college, a kid on their first or second job. Do you know what kind of stress this situation would put them under? How awful it is to be treated this way?
I was in charge of training new hires before, and I took pains to make them feel safe and welcome. I would spend fucking hours burning their brains on shared-screen calls on Skype, showing them every detail. I wrote whole ass step-by-step process manuals, so simple and detailed they were annoying, so that they would know what to do even if nobody had time for them.
This neglect of trainees pisses me off. It doesn't matter that I am able to complete the task at hand, that I am able to train myself. I shouldn't have. Nobody should.
I know I say I'm dead inside a lot, and a great deal of that is thanks to years of abusive workplaces. So even though I don't give a fuck about a ton of things, unfairness triggers me. I won't have it, I don't want anyone to suffer it.
So yeah. That.
Last Friday the only coworker that speaks to me (the others won't even say good morning back to you, there's a suspicious lack of will to live in this company) called me an hour before my shift was over and rushed me through a ton of complicated processes and technical instructions and deemed me ready to undertake the next huge project that client sent, from start to finish. They would train me sometime later, they said, and I left feeling uneasy once I had completed my first hour of overtime on my second day.
I shrugged.
This place looks as toxic as it could get, but the person I am today is overflowing with nuclear waste, so I think I'm prepared to neutralize their shit with a ton of counter-not-giving-a-shit in return.
We'll see how it goes. Unlike Chandler Bing, I have no hopes here, so I think I'm better prepared to thrive.

"Us Staying Together Is The Biggest Mistake Of All!"
Thursday 12th November 2020
Hello again everyone! Hope you're doing okay. Okay so even though I'm writing about yesterday's episode (Thursday 12th) - today is Friday 13th! I know it's just superstition, but I hope your day goes well without any issues or unfortunate happenings. I hope today will be lucky for us all! As it's Friday, EastEnders will not be on tonight due to Children In Need, which is why there was two episodes on Tuesday evening. I'm looking forward to getting right into it, so let's not dilly-dally! Let's get started!
The episode begins with Kat waiting by her Dad's taxi, it looks as if this could be the day she and Phil plan that robbery. Phil makes an appearance as he walks out of his household towards her whilst carrying a carrier bag, he makes a slight point that he won't be going into an office whilst wearing what's inside the bag. I'm beginning to wonder what it might be, considering he's doing a job with Kat, who knows! Kat informs him that they will have the whole place to themselves as everyone who works there will be working at home, but she instructs him that she will the uniform she's provided for him. Can I just mention that I am loving the recent scenes between Jessie Wallace and Steve McFadden, it must've been so much fun to film!
At the Minute Mart, (again, another brilliant scene I thought) Shirley and Tina are discussing the things that Gray owns in his house. How he specifically uses almond milk and how he owns a juicer, an ice maker, a rice cooker and all sorts, Tina appears jealous that her sister is living in the lap of luxury, but then Shirley does remind her that he has just lost his wife and he hasn't been in a good place recently. It's then she changes the subject to Mick, admitting that she hasn't been sleeping properly since Katy arrived. She reveals to Mick that since Katy appeared on the Square, she has been in the dog house and it looks like she will be for quite some time, Tina tries to reassure her sister that she was literally just trying to help her son and that he can't stay angry at her forever.
Meanwhile, out on the Square, Denise is taking little Raymond off to church. Little Raymond looks incredibly smart and yet still a bit shy as Jack approaches the young boy. Can anyone else sense that there's still love between Jack and Denise? Something tells me they might rekindle their romance, who knows - it might end up being because of little Raymond that brings them back together? They both visibly flirt with each other as they leave for the church.
In a posh looking building, Kat is waiting for Phil, only when he appears from behind she looks highly amused, and needless to say - I never thought I'd see the day that Phil would wear something with leopard print! Not looking very satisfied, he appears wearing a leopard print piny. But what followed afterwards was even more hilarious, Kat appeared to know someone who worked in the building and was making friendly conversation as Phil was stood not saying a word, Kat informed the man that he was actually named Malcolm and was her cleaning apprentice. I just love the fact that Phil just had to grin and bear it, but just to wind him up that little bit more, Kat informed the bloke that he pretty much a 5 year old stuck in a middle aged man's body. As Kat and man walked on ahead, Kat informed Phil to and clean the men's toilets, now of course, none of us can actually imagine Phil cleaning anything, least of toilets! I really do love these scenes, I hope we'll get more of Kat and Phil in the future.
At the Prince Albert, Tina is confiding in Iqra about her family issues at the moment, explaining that things are going to be completely different this year regarding Christmas if Mick and Shirley don't make up by then. Iqra tries to persuade Tina to get them together and talk things through, but Tina explains that they have already tried, Mick seems to be the one causing the problems at the minute, but whereas Shirley has done nothing but beg for her son's forgiveness, but he's just not having any of it. Tina then mentions that Mick hasn't been the same since he's moved out of the Vic, which then Iqra suggests that maybe it would help if he was given a job back at the pub, perhaps it would make him a bit happier? Tina admits that Mick wouldn't ask, but then it makes perfect sense, why doesn't she ask on his behalf? But then again, will that be something that Mick will be happy about? Who knows? He may feel right back in his element if he was back behind the Queen Vic bar.
Arriving at the church, Denise is visibly nervous as she approaches the doors. Gospel singing can be heard from behind the door, Denise turns to Jack before they enter and suggests that it was a bad idea and they turn back. But it looks to be a little too late as Raymond happily wonders in ahead of them, with a huge smile on his face he heads towards the front of the stage watching the choir singing. Denise and Jack slowly sneak in and sit at the back, taking in everything around them. Denise turns to Jack asking his thoughts, his response made me giggle a bit "Yeah, it's better than the Lord Is My Shepherd!" - with that they both smile and share a laugh, just then Denise turns to the front to see Raymond enjoying every single minute, clapping his hands with a huge smile on his face, Denise smiles seeing her son look so happy.
At the Vic, Tina has approached Ian about giving Mick a shift, at first he seems reluctant to help, explaining that they haven't got enough space on the rota. However, Sharon speaks up and claims that she is in desperate need of some help behind the bar now that her son, Albie is sleeping less. It's then that Ian agrees to give Mick and shift and that he will tell him himself, as Tina begs him not to let on about Tina asking for him.
Returning to Phil and Kat, Phil dressed in his piny and pushing along a mop bucket, walks into a room to find Kat chatting away with the man she was with earlier. Once the man disappears, Phil questions Kat on what he was talking to her about, she explains that they were talking about his Mum and how ill she's getting and that how tomorrow the place would be empty, and she has volunteered to clean again the following evening. Phil then asks her what her plan is for the following evening, it's then Kat reveals about a safe that they keep two floors down and she believes that there must be somewhere between 9/10 grand inside it, she proposes that if Phil helps her then she will split the money 50/50 and they will get £5,000 each! But Phil seems less than impressed of her idea and admits he doesn't want to risk the chance of going to prison for such a small amount of money. Much to Kat's disappointment, she kicks off at Phil for making her feel small and instructs him to finish his shift before they leave the premises.
Back on the Square, Kush approaches his stall and apologises for keeping Shrimpy on it for so long. Martin looks on as his friend makes himself comfortable on his stall, he slowly approaches him and asks whether he's okay. Kush admits that he's had a bad morning, but what happens next is what Martin reveals, he mentions to his friend that he called around and Jean informed him that Kush was still in bed, even though Kush tries to defend himself saying that it's not what he thinks and that he's put all the gambling behind him. But Martin reveals that in fact last night, he was snooping through all the poker and gambling websites trying to find his friend and reveals that it only took half an hour until he spotted his friend online gambling again. Kush once again has been caught out and admits to Martin that he simply can't help himself, he claims that he's trying his absolute best to try and fix the situation that he's caused, but Martin tries his absolute best to get through to his friend that by gambling again to get himself out of the situation is not going to help, as it was the thing that got him there in the first place! How is Kat going to react when she finds out he has once again been gambling behind her back? Especially when he promised her he wouldn't do it again!
Back at the church, the gospel singing comes to an end. Raymond is still clearly enjoying himself, after the pastor makes a speech, he notices Raymond stood right in front of him and acknowledges the little boy, saying how good it was to see him. After her persuades little Raymond to play with some toys, the pastor approaches Denise and begins informing her how nice it was to see Raymond again after they were concerned about how he never turned up again with his Grandmother. He questions who Denise is to young Raymond and she admits to him that she is in actual fact Raymond's birth mother and reveals that the little boy is now living with her. She informs him that she's seeking help regarding his family, as she hasn't been told much about them, the pastor introduces himself and smiles as if he'd be glad to help her out.
Returning to Phil and Kat, Phil is making his way to some kind of parking bay as he's taking some bins out. He seems to notice the handful or flashy cars parked up and dumps the bins to one side as he goes to take a look. As Kat appears, he questions her whether they always park their cars there, to which she admits they do as they must think it's a safe place. Phil laughs and informs her that she was in fact right, there is a job for them there, but she could've been looking at the wrong one. Something now tells me that perhaps Phil might nick one of the cars and attempt to sell it, we know that Phil is known for dodgy car deals, so perhaps this might be the way that he and Kat get a decent amount of money?
Back at the Vic, Mick is looking dapper and happy to be working a shift at the place he once called "Home!". As he makes himself comfortable behind the bar, Shirley and Tina make their way inside. Shirley is surprised to see her son working at the Vic and questions her sister, who simply just smiles and shrugs but Shirley knows instantly that he sister set it up for him. As they approach the bar, Tina, pretending to act suspicious questions her brother as to why he's there. Mick informs them that Ian approached him and asked him to help out. Tina acts very happy for her brother and happens to mention how nice it is for all of them to be back in the Vic again together.
(I know this is quite repetitive, I apologise about that!) Returning to the church, Denise is getting all the information she's seeking about Raymond. She questions whether Raymond knew he was adopted, and the pastor informs her that his parents did tell him when they felt he was at the right age to know. Sorry to be so blunt here, but am I right in thinking that Raymond is only 3 years old? Or is perhaps a little bit older? Only because a child that age I don't think will understand what being adopted means, how could they even begin to understand? Hmm - but I'm not one to judge, who knows, maybe some kids are told in their much younger years that they're adopted, I really don't know?! The pastor can tell that Denise is nervous to inform Raymond about who she really is to him, and Denise admits that she feels that she fears it would be betraying them in a way. The pastor reassures her that Raymond's adoptive parents wouldn't have seen it that way, and they would only want him to be happy and want what's best for him. He assures Denise that Raymond knows exactly who his parents are, but also gives her some food for thought, for him at such a young age, living with a stranger who he has no connection with, is bound to be confusing for him. Perhaps this may give Denise the comfort to tell him the truth about her identity? She asks whether she'll be able to bring young Raymond back to the church more often, just for him to keep that connection to his adoptive family and the pastor is more than happy to oblige.
Ahh so, Kat and Phil have returned from their cleaning job. They're sat in the Mitchell household around the table with Ben. It looks as if they have informed Ben about everything they know about the potential building and plan they have made to rob the place. As the conversation continues, Kat is adamant that it's still her job whether she came up with the plan or not, considering she was the one who found the building in the first place. As they discuss their way of getting inside and the possibility of needing another driver to make their escape. Kat informs them that she wants to make sure either Phil or Ben are inside with her, otherwise the job won't happen. It's understandable, I guess you could she wants to make sure her share of the money is safe. It sounds as if the people involved in this robbery is going to be Phil, Ben, Shirley, Kat and someone else - who is going to be that 5th party? - Who will Kat drag into doing this job with her? Kush? or Stacey? Only what they don't know is while they're discussing their plan, Callum has been listening to everything behind the door. Something tells me that their plan is going to go horribly wrong - is Callum going to use this information and tell DI Thompson that this will be the only way of getting Phil behind bars? Also I do fear that perhaps the 5th person they get involved in the plan will also cause them problems, I don't know why, but something tells me something is going to go wrong. A successful robbery between Phil, Kat, Ben, Shirley and someone else - nah! Something is going to happen!! What do you guys think?! Maybe if Ben finds out that his boyfriend knows, he could persuade him to take part?! You never know?!
Back at the Vic, Tina is adamant she's wanting to celebrate Mick working behind the bar again, back in his comfort zone. As she starts speaking about a memory about her and Mick getting drunk on vodka, she recalls how Katy had to put Mick to bed. But Mick's mood does a complete U-turn as she mentions Katy's name. Tina pleads to her brother to try and make up with Shirley, but as Mick move his arm along the bar he knocks off an expensive bottle of vodka on the floor. Ian comes from behind and (in typical Ian style) has a go at him for breaking an expensive bottle, Ian also lets slip that it was Tina who got Mick the job. Mick once again looks disappointed and leaves the pub, Tina following him as he does so. Once their outside, Tina is begging her brother to tell her what's troubling him. She mentions how she can see he's been struggling the past couple of weeks, she explains how she was trying to cheer him up by asking Ian to give him a shift at the Vic. As the camera zooms closer onto Mick's face, it looks as if he's about to admit something to her, it looks as if he's finally going to tell someone exactly what's been troubling him. But instead he tells her sister to not apologise and acknowledges that she tried to do a nice thing for him, he admits that he's not angry with her and makes up the excuse that it was hard for him to be working at the Vic as it brought back so much memories of what he missed. As he goes to walk away, he calls back to his sister not to worry about him, he reveals he'll go and stay with Lee for a few days to help clear his head. They send each other their love and as Mick walks away Tina looks over to pub to see Ian look back at her with a really smug grin. She softly speaks to herself threating Ian to enjoy it while he can - what does she mean by that?! Is she going to attempt to get the Vic back off Ian?! What do you guys think? We know Tina will be leaving, could this be the start of her exit storyline, could she get herself in so much trouble in an attempt to get the Vic back that she'll need to leave the Square? What are your thoughts of this?!
The final scene of this episode, Kat arrives home, she informs Kush that she now has Phil on her side. Kush is stunned to hear that Phil has listened to her plan. She admits that if her plan is a success, they wont have to worry about money for a long long time. They make themselves comfortable in the kitchen and Kat informs Kush about everything, the fact that Phil knows someone who will be able to give them 100 grand for the cars. The only thing they need for the plan to work is one more driver, Kush then suggests himself for the role, but Kat isn't sure whether Phil would agree, but Kush insists that seeing as he was the one to get them into this mess, he wants to help get them out. Kat admits that it's a big job and there is no room for mistakes, she makes the point that she could go to prison for doing this job, she has her children to think about. It suddenly becomes clear to Kush that she no longer trusts him, but then again - she probably has good reason to, as she makes the fair point that he has been making a lot of mistakes recently. He pushes her to admit that she doesn't trust him and eventually she does, which appears to hurt Kush as he then asks her why are they together? Why are they still a couple if she no longer trusts him? He then states that perhaps them still being together is the biggest mistake of them all and he leaves the room, leaving Kat speechless.
But does he have a point? Her point is also a valid one? Will she agree and let Kush help her out with the job? What do you guys think is going to happen? Will the robbery be a success or will something terrible happen? What do you think Callum will do now he knows the full idea that they're all planning?! I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions as to what's happening in the soap at the minute and all the storylines. Please feel free to drop me a comment or a message and I'll always reply when I can. Thank you for reading, I hope you all have a brilliant weekend! Love you all xXx

Changing the Tide: An Avengers Fanfic (5/7)
Summary: Wanda Maximoff is the new girl in town and also reconciling with the death of her twin brother, Pietro. As she starts to navigate her new life she manages to stumble into friendship with a group of teens who are surprisingly similar to her
A/N: This is basically just a highschoolAU for the Avengers without powers.
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7)
The next day Wanda got to school earlier. She made sure to keep her head down as she walked the hallways before first hour. If she was going to make sure that Clint and the others left her alone she was going to make it as hard as possible for them to try and talk to her.
She made sure to walk into History seconds before the final bell rang. Wanda handed Thor back his notebook. She had started with the notes last night and copied down all ten pages of his notes in a few hours.
“Thanks,” She said, trying to be kind yet distant, before Thor could try to say anything Mr. Coulson was starting class and Wanda felt like she had jumped the first hurdle of the day.
After class Wanda got up and was out the door before Thor could register that she was gone.
Biology was much harder. Wanda had taken her time walking to the room but when she got there Steve was sitting at their table, waiting for her. She smiled awkwardly, unsure of what to do, the only other open spot in the room was next to Tony, which didn’t exactly seem like a more preferable option. When she sat down Steve tried to catch her eye.
“I just wanted you to know that I don’t see being kind to you as some sort of job I got put up to.”
“Okay,” Wanda replied, her tone neutral. Wanda wasn’t sure if she could trust Steve, she barely knew him after all, she barely knew any of these people. Wanda had never trusted anyone other than Pietro and she still wasn’t ready to admit that she was alone now.
Steve left her alone for the rest of the hour. Her conversation with Natasha during french was very similar, though Natasha admitted that Clint was stupid a lot of the time, but added that Wanda would be stupid to ignore that he was trying to do the right thing.
Philosophy was more of the same, Steve lefter alone (so did everyone else) but it was after philosophy that Wanda realized that she was going to have a problem. She didn’t have anyone to sit with at lunch. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, Wanda had always sat with Pietro or by herself (at her old school she had essentially been invisible) but when she walked through the hallway to the lunchroom and noticed people were watching her it was then that Wanda had somehow gotten mixed up with the most popular kids in school.
Normally Wanda avoided popular kids like the plague, unfortunately, Wanda hadn’t realized that they were popular, at her old school the popular kids had been the rich kids who could have parties and nice clothes or the varsity players. These guys weren’t who he would have assumed to be the popular kids, sure, Tony was rich and his dad was famous, and Thor and Steve were super athletic, but he could barely see them being friends with each other, let alone people like Bruce or Natasha.
However, before Wanda could worry more about who she was going to eat with Steve was next to her, “Are you going to eat with us?” He asked.
“Um...yeah,” Wanda replied. She could tell that Steve was surprised by her response but he tried to not look to pleased.
When they got to their table everyone tried to be nice to Wanda without making it too obvious. Wanda almost felt worse because of the fact that they were treating her like a rabbit that they didn’t want to scare away than she had yesterday when she felt like they were all pretending to be nice to her.
Maybe Wanda had over-reacted? Should she just let go of her assumptions and let them in?
No.
At least, not yet.
Wanda stayed silent for most of lunch, after everyone relaxed slightly the conversations started up like normal and Wanda listened quietly while she picked at the sad excuse for a sandwich she had made herself before leaving the house. She didn’t even like turkey, so why had she slapped three pieces of it on the bread she had found in the pantry? Wanda was so wrapped up thinking about her poor sandwich making skills that she didn’t notice when Clint sat down next to her.
“I’m sorry about yesterday,” he said, breaking Wanda out of her train of thought, she looked up, no one else was listening to them, they all had their own conversations going.
“Okay,” Wanda replied. She hadn’t really forgiven Clint for what he had said, but Wanda wasn’t exactly one to hold grudges - at least not outwardly. The internal battle Wanda was having was fierce. She had always been a fighter, but right now she just wanted to give up.
Wanda couldn’t help but think back to being at the hospital after Pietro’s accident. When Clint found her she was hiding in the storage closet bawling her eyes out.
“Um… can I help you?” a boy about her age asked. Wanda looked up, startled by the intruder before she realized that she was the one who wasn’t supposed to be here.
“Sorry, I just- How could I have let this happen? It’s all my fault.” Wanda sobbed.
“What?” He asked, crouching down next to her.
“M-my brother was in a car accident, he’s in the ICU right now,” Wanda told him, “They don’t know if he’s going to make it.”
“I’m still not seeing how this is your fault,” He said gently.
“I was the one who told him leave.” Wanda cried, “We needed milk, I told him to just go find some, so he did and then he ran a red light a few blocks from our house. He got T-boned and now he’s here.”
"Hey, look at me. It’s your fault, it’s his fault, it’s the other driver’s fault, who cares." he replied, “Sitting here is going to change what happened.”
“They won’t let me or our parents back to see him,” Wanda said, pulling her hands away from her face.
“Oh, well I can probably sneak you into his room,” he replied nonchalantly as he stood up and held out his hand to help her up.
“Really, you would do that for me?” Wanda asked him as she got to her feet.
“Sure, as long as we don’t get caught.” He replied with a wink before grabbing her hand and leading her out of the closet.
The two of them snuck down the hallway and around a few doctors into the ICU.
“What’s his name?” The boy had asked her when they got to a nurses station.
“Pietro Maximoff,” She replied quickly, glancing around nervously.
“Hey, if you keep looking around like you’re not supposed to be here they’ll realize that you’re not and kick you out.” He told her while typing into the computer.
“Right, sorry,” She replied.
“Room 324,” He announced, looking up from the computer, “Right this way.”
Wanda nodded and followed him down the hallway.
“You can’t go in, unfortunately because there’s a bunch of nurses right now, but you can look into the room,” He told her while they walked briskly, “Are you ready for this?” He asked her, glancing sidelong at her.
“Yes,” she answered definitively.
“Well, this is it.” he said, gesturing to the room number next to the door right in front of him, “You’ve probably got five or six minutes until his doctors come back.”
Wanda nodded and walked up to the doorway. She hadn’t know what to expect, but she figured it would be something like on all of those doctor shows on TV, that Dr. McDreamy would be bossing around people and her family would be able to go home by the end of the episode.
That’s not really what it was like.
I mean, there was a nurse who seemed busy enough, but she hadn’t realize that he was actually hooked up to tons of machines, everything about the situation seemed wrong and -painful-. Wanda could barely see Pietro’s face, there were so many wires and tubes connected to it.
After what had felt like mere seconds to Wanda at the time but must have been several minutes in reality she had felt the hand of the boy on his shoulder.
“We need to go now,” He told her, his voice soft.
“No.”
“If we don’t I’m going to lose my job.”
Wanda sighed and turned away from her brother’s body.
At the time Wanda hadn’t know that would be the last time she would see her twin’s body while he was still alive.
“No, like I’m really sorry about what I said yesterday, that was super out of line,” Clint replied, snapping Wanda back into reality.
“You were there for me when no one else was, you have no idea how much that meant to me, I’ll never be able to thank you enough.” Wanda said, dutifully examining the bread of her sandwich so she wouldn’t have to look at him, “It’s just...I haven’t really talked about Pietro since it happened. I can’t.”
“That’s okay, we don’t have to talk about. Just know that whenever you’re ready, I’m here - we’re all here for you.” He said, “Even Tony, especially Tony.”
“Thanks, can we just drop it for now?”
“Of course,” Clint said with a slight smile, taking a bite of his lunch, “How are your classes? Catching up?” He asked through a mouthful of food.
“Yeah, I’ve had to do work every chance I get though, these teachers really do not take it easy do they?”
Steve looked over at Wanda when she said that, “That reminds me, we have a Philosophy study group that meets every Thursday after school to hash out ideas and help with the essays and stuff, you should join.”
Wanda nodded, “Oh, awesome, that would be a huge help.”
“And we all tend to get together every afternoon at someone’s house to do homework and hang out,” Clint added, “So you have a standing invitation for that too, we don’t always get a lot of work done though, so just know that if you show up you’re going to get distracted any time you try to do actual work.”
Wanda laughed slightly, “Okay.”
“We always figure it out in the groupchat, Peggy interjected, “can I add you?”
“Um.. sure,” Wanda replied, quickly rattling off her phone number as Peggy typed it into her phone. The moment Peggy was done Wanda heard her phone start pinging and pulled it out of her backpack.
(216)355-7654 (12:42) Omg is the new number wanda???
(216)355-7654 (12:42) heyyy wanda
(216)787-3584 (12:42) Yes. You heard our conversation, please stop texting the group chat for stupid reasons.
(216)355-7654 (12:42) sorry peg. Luv youuuuu
(216)651-4599 (12:43) we’re all sitting at the same table just talk to each other
“Um...” Wanda muttered.
“Here,” Clint said, putting his hand out, “I’ll but everyone’s contacts in so you know who’s who.”
Wanda nodded and handed her phone over to him. After a few minutes Clint handed her phone back and Wanda scrolled through to see the names of everyone at the table were now added into her phone, along with a few that she didn’t recognize.
“Who are these other people?” Wanda asked, pointing to their names.
“Oh, those are a few of our other friends, they don’t have this lunch though. Peter Parker is Tony’s stalker, Sam Wilson is Steve’s best friend, Hank Pym is another science nerd, I don’t really know why we need another one but I guess he’s cool, T’Challa’s another one of the exchange students, Carol Danvers is a badass who can do whatever she wants, and Bucky Barnes is basically Steve’s boyfriend.”
Wanda was still trying to take in all of this information in order to make sure she’d remember who everyone was, “I thought Steve and Peggy were…” Wanda replied, confused.
“No one really knows which one he’s actually interested in,” Clint replied, offhandedly, “Well, do you think you’ll come over this afternoon? Study group is at my house.”
“Sure, it’s not like I have anything else to do.” Wanda replied with a slight smirk.

Mother's day// jeff drabble :01
Tumblr media
A/N: a long ass drabble. happy mothers day lovelies!!xx btw, ‘Late Late Menu’ and ‘Trinity II’ will be up soon. they should be up by Thursday May 18th. this is kinda edited btw.
Summary: what would mothers day be without food and gifts?
“Y/N!! Hurry the fuck up!” your sister yelled at you through the door as you finished your brows. you rolled your eyes and smacked your lips together once more before ruffling your hair and opening the door.
she stood there with her hair braided into two french braids, her makeup was mostly done besides her eyes and she wore a short yellow flowing sundress with brown gladiator shoes and her nails were painted yellow.
“why, don’t you look cute.” you smiled at her and her demeanor changed from upset to cocky in seconds. she put her hand on her hip and smiled.
“why, thank you. and you look beautiful.” you were wearing a blue long strapless jumper with blue wedge heels. your hair was down and you let it do its own thing today which happened to look great for once. for your makeup, you went mostly natural. a blushed cheek with highlight, feathered brows, on your lips you were wearing nude lipgloss that luckily wasn’t sticky.
“oh, well i try.” you flipped your hair. “do you need my eyeshadow kit or something?” you pointed towards your Kylie Bonze Kit and your sister nodded. after handing it to her, she kissed your cheek and left after saying “don’t give jeff a boner in that outfit.” which caused you to roll your eyes but smiled even wider.
today, jeff and you were going to hang out at your parents house for a while and eat some of your dads BBQ chicken and your moms macaroni before going to jeffs parents house and eating some of the best Mexican food ever. honestly, jeffs parents were the best cooks to exist.
then you were probably going to end up spending the night at jeffs considering your sister had her girlfriend over for the night and you didn’t feel like hearing them fangirl over bands (a/n: basically me)
as you walked out of your bathroom and grabbed your phone for the first time that day, you saw a couple notifications from jeff. the first being a snapchat notification which you checked quickly.
it was a picture of jeff and his mom standing in his kitchen. he was kissing her cheek and she was smiling wide. then, he sent a video of his mom standing over the stove cooking and he says “La comida huele a la buena mamá”
in response, you sent a mirror pic of your outfit with ‘😍’ as the caption even if you didn’t understand what he said. next, you checked the messages and saw there were two from jeff and one from hannah. hannah’s said 'Happy Mother’s day mom😘😘’ you giggled and sent back 'thanks daughter. tell my son-in-law that i said he should come visit me’
and jeff sent a picture of him and a brown and white dog. he was smiling down at it as he held it in his hands. you 'awwed’ out loud and sent heart eyes. asking who’s dog it is and then closing your phone.
finally, you walked out of your room and downstairs. instantly smelling your dads chicken and your moms rice. you heard laughter, coming from some extra voices along with the TV playing a episode of Family Guy. because jeff and hannah sent those messages about an hour ago it wasn’t a surprise that they were already at your house.
right when your wedge hit the floor, you heard a bark and you were speed walking into the living room. “well look who decided to show?” hannah baker sat on the couch beside clay jensen. your mom was sitting on the floor with a mug in hand, you sister beside her and jeff was sat on the other couch.
“oh hush.” you rolled your eyes and walked over to jeff. placing a kiss to his lips before sitting beside him. “what’d i miss?” you weren’t going to question the bark you heard, maybe you were just hearing things so you let it go.
“mrs. y/m/n was telling us stories about younger you.” clay spoke up and you gasped at your mother. “and yes, they were the embarrassing ones.” he chuckled and you narrowed your eyes at your mom.
“wow mom. i should just keep your gift for myself.” your sarcastically said and laid your head on jeffs shoulder, inhaling his scent discreetly.
“speaking of. maybe we should go get it.” your sister stood to her feet and you did the same, pulling jeff up with you. the three of you walked down the hallway and into the guest room where the box for a Apple Watch sat on the bed.
“you guys got her a Apple Watch?” jeff stood amazed beside you and wrapped his arm around your waist. you nodded and watched your sister grab it.
“hey atkins. are you gonna stand there or are you going to give my sister her gift?” your sister smirked at your confused face and walked into the living room.
“gift? i’m not a mom.” you were surprised. even if you and jeffs anniversary was tomorrow this wasn’t the exact day to give a gift to a non-mother in your opinion.
“well, you are now. follow me young child.” he kissed your forehead and grabbed your hand, leading you back into the living room where your mom was putting the black watch onto her wrist. he sat you on the couch and walked off.
“oh. get the camera, hes giving her the gift.” hannah rushed and grabbed her phone as clay instructed her. you rolled your eyes and chuckled.
“you guys are like an old married co–” your statement was cut off by 2 loud barks and the sound of jeffs laugh. “babe. you did not??!!” you stood to our feet and turned around as jeff walked around the corner with the same brown and white dog in hand.
“y/n, meet nala. our new child.” you awwed again as jeff sat nala on the ground and she ran over to you. you dropped down onto the ground and picked her up in your hands. she was very tiny and had a lot of energy, which you loved the most.
“ jeffery atkins. i fucking love you so much.” you looked up at him as you held your new baby in hand. jeff smiled and bent down to kiss you lightly.
“language y/n.” your mom yelled and you chuckled. for the next couple of hours, you all played with nala and came to the conclusion that she was a handful and she loved chicken when you all started eating. you and jeff didn’t eat much because you still had one more house to visit.
at around 4 you and jeff left as well as hannah and clay. they went to clays house after some pictures with nala. of course, you took her with you. you couldn’t leave her at home when you just got her.
“hey babe?” you glanced over at jeff since you were driving. it’s been around 15 minutes since you left your house. nala sat in the back of your car and she was very quiet considering the fact that the drive put her to sleep.
jeff mumbled a response and looked up from his phone. “i love you. you know that right?” he nodded and grabbed your left hand in his.
“i love you too. now let’s eat!” jeff yelled when you pulled up to his house. you parked across the road because you couldn’t find a park it looked like jeffs whole family was over, including all those cousins from puerto rico. “forgot to tell you about my family.” you smiled and shook your head in amusement.
right when you opened the door, you heard how happy they all sounded and you let the happiness spread throughout you. jeff waved to his family members as he lead you to the kitchen where his mom was standing beside his grandmother. the two looked exactly alike, but jeffs grandmother had a few more wrinkles beside her eyes.
“hey ma.” he gave him mom a kiss on the cheek, doing the same for his grandmother. she smiled wide when she saw you and pulled you in for a huge hug. well, the best she could do with a dog in your hand.
“you look beautiful my darling.” she grinned at you. “me? you’re never aging, i swear. last time i saw you you looked 27 now you look 20. it’s like you’re going backwards.” you replied and hugged jeffs grandmother.
jeffs family were so sweet. you all played games together, you ate the best food to ever exist. they told stories and you told some of your own. it as almost like you were family. and all throughout the night, jeff never left you and neither did nala.
later that night, you and jeff had helped clean and now you were laying in his bed in nothing but his letterman jacket and one of his shirts underneath. you two were watching the secret lives of pets and every time nala saw a dog she would bark excitedly. and when she saw a cat, she would still bark excitedly.
you and jeff put lots of videos and pictures up on each others snapchat stories. some were of you and jeff with nala, some were of you and jeff watching the movie.
jeff even posted a video of you dancing for him in a sarcastic way. you were dramatically twerking and every time your shirt would go up and your ass would show he would smirk and yell out a “oooo!!” which caused you to laugh. (he didn’t allow bryce to see that one)
then there were some of you and jeff attempting to train nala. overall, you and jeffs snapchats were parent and relationship goals. now, you were laying beside jeff, nala was on the floor beside the bed and she was soundly sleeping.
“im still so full but i’m in the need for brownies.” you rolled onto your stomach and felt jeffs shirt rise up to expose your butt. you were wearing a simple black lacy thong only because it was the only pair of underwear you had at jeffs house.
jeff started rubbing your butt soothingly which caused you to relax. “wanna go make some?” he proposed and you nodded. you rolled over and allowed jeff to lift you bridal style. he walked you out of his room as nala followed you two.
and you two made brownies. they were chocolate with chocolate chips on top and you ate them with milk. jeff found a recipe online of dog brownies and the two of you even took a late night trip to the store to get the ingredients that were needed and you made her some.
that was your mother’s day. you became a new mother and jeff became a father. easily the best mothers day ever and the most memorable.
