So with as busy as I've been finishing school and getting my business up and running I haven't had a lot of time to work on the fabrial. I finished making the hands, though I had to modify them from the drawing slightly. The dial is partially made, though I need to practice my hand engraving before I can finish it. The last change is that the brass surround for the movements had to be remade and is taking a while because it needs a lot of hand filing to shape it.

MB&F Watchmaker - M.A.D. House Cutaway Illustration

Rod Hunt was commissioned by watchmaker MB&F to create a cutaway building illustration of the M.A.D.House, their headquarters in a century-old house in Geneva, Switzerland. The illustration was an end of year 'Thank You' to all their friends, collectors and fans. Built between 1907 and 1908, the house’s exterior exudes history and character. The brief called for Rod to interpret the interior and exterior of the house, include key figures in the company as well as their horological machines. Science-fiction is a big inspiration for the brand so some references to this was also included, many of their pieces look like spaceships, robots and strange creatures.

Founded in 2005, MB&F is the world’s first-ever horological concept laboratory. MB&F turn traditional watchmaking of the highest craftsmanship into futuristic, fiercely unconventional timekeeping machines. These sculptured, three-dimensional cases and beautifully-finished engines are called ‘Machines’. MB&F is continuing to follow Founder and Creative Director Maximilian Büsser’s vision of creating 3-D kinetic art by deconstructing traditional watchmaking.

So far in my schooling I've been doing repair and restoration but I've decided to start on a project to actually make something. I chose the wrist fabrial from stormlight. To make things easier I'm starting with premade movements for the two timekeepers but eventually I'll make replacements from scratch.

So the watchmaker idea won't leave me. Seb losing his lover somewhere across time? Mick being his protégé just sitting in the watch shop wondering how the shop is in business with little customers? Mick accidentally time travelling? Princess Esteban being confused but intrigued by Mick? Princess Esti dragged along during the time travel? Iconic

plls i love the idea so so much!! Mick working in the tiny shop and not really understanding much about how Seb stays in business lol. Seb teaches him how to repair watches and clean them but there arent customers very often, and most of them disappear to the back of the store with Seb while Mick has to stay in the front of the house. Then Mick accidentally time travelling with one of the watches and meeting Este and its a bit funky and weird but Esteban is really intrigued and Mick is intrigued by him too. But Mick gets pulled back and finds documents back in the shop that Seb kept for his search for his lover, Lewis.
