Been close to 6 months with very little to no rain in our area. All cisterns are empty and we’re back to taking long hikes to the spring but we did all we can to prepare for the day the rain finally returns. The new rain catchment system has nearly got us half a tank of water in only two small rains. My Austrian is delighted!! We have PLANS! The first night, it must have rained a bit overnight - not so much that we actually noticed - but there was all this water in the tank in the morning! Today we’ve had the drizzle, and it’s really added considerably more to the tank very quickly. This is exciting! If they fill that quickly from only two little rains, then we may need more tanks! I see off grid water use in my future - and for more than just the gardens. This will be fun! I am delighted that it’s been so successful so quickly! He had played down here with Laral as a child, and it seemed smaller to him now. He remembered a deep, endless tunnel. But soon after he passed the watercatch, he saw the lit cellar room ahead.

Some parallels:

Kaladin roared, leaping to his feet. Roshone’s death sent Kaladin back to that moment in the palace at Kholinar. A spear through Elhokar’s chest.

1) Roshone/Elhokar dies.

Kaladin shouted. He felt himself slipping, losing control. It happened whenever he thought of Moash, of King Elhokar dying, of failing the people of Kholinar and the men of the Wall Guard.

2) Kaladin breaks.

Kaladin nodded, numb, and let Renarin help him stand.

3) Renarin/Adolin help him keep going through the void.

Did you know that all of our water needs come from rain water? After two months without a drop, we finally got some rain again! Everyone’s cisterns had dried out and I even had to move the plants closer to the house so that I can water them with whatever I find to shower with. Now I’m going around collecting any standing water I find in the yard to store for for the days to come. I’m soooooooo grateful right now! . . Siv and Camilla made us all an enormous wonderful breakfast with lots of cheeses but before that we started to install a #watercatchment #raisedbed with wood logs to retain the water. We dug ca 50-60cm deep, put the logs we found in the yard, added broken branches, grass from the garden, brown leaves mulch, and then covered it again with earth while watering to make the soil go between the logs. We finished with a border of recuperated stone and bricks. It took us about 3 hours total. Friday we return with plants from #ganeshgarden... tomatoes, papayas, moringa, tapioca, etc to make it a little food forest... :-) (at Ganesh Garden)
