Absolutely love Dr.Seraph, he's such a pathetic man in the best of ways, gotta love it <3
But ngl, I'm also kinda curious about Fatalité, he's been mentioned here and there but we haven't seen much of him ....?
Could you tell us some stuff about him, if you don't mind ? Like how he feels about a hero reader/vigilante reader, or how he would feel if he discovered Dr.Seraph's feelings about the reader, for example
I'm so glad that my little mad scientist is to your liking! 😆 I decided to had some personal info about Fatalité on top of answering your questions!
・*:.。..。.:*・*:.。..。.:*・
About Fatalité:
💣 Fatalité’s real name is Jules Dubois, he is born in Belgium.
💣 He is in his mid forties.
💣 He can speak French, English and a little bit of Spanish.
💣 He doesn’t have superpowers, that’s what Dr. Seraph is for! The only things that could be considered his “quirk” are his metal gauntlets that gives him inhuman strength. He can easily destroy a wall in one punch!
💣 His real weapon is money. Jules can pay, blackmail and bribe his way into fulfilling his goals. He still is on the field most of the time, since he doesn’t believe his henchman can do the job properly without him. Additionally, he finds sick pleasure in watching his enemies fail, so he wants to witness it first hand.
💣 His evil deeds vary between typical robbery of precious jewels or works of art and trying to take over parts of the city.
💣 Fatalité is a real narcissist, with psychopathic and sociopathic tendencies. Remorse is a feeling foreign to him seeing that he felt it rarely in his life.
What is he like on the romance side of things:
💣 Fatalité is biromantic and asexual, which I subtly hinted at in one of my previous posts. Sorry guys, but that means no spicy time with him.
💣 He is obviously a yandere too, since he is an evil supervillain, obsessing over things is ingrained in him. If he likes someone he doesn’t care what it takes, he will have them. Fatality is inevitable after all.
💣 He would be less mean to his partner than with other people, but taking in consideration his narcissism, his desires are still more important to him. So he might not be the best boyfriend in the world.
💣 You don’t want to cuddle? Too bad he wants it and he’ll trap you in his arms. You're so cute when you’re struggling to get away, you’re just like an aggressive stray cat. He does enjoy seeing you frustrated a little bit too much.
💣 His prominent love language are words of affirmation. He needs to hear you say how much you adore and worship him! Don’t expect any words of affirmation from him, he is too proud to admit his feelings out loud.
💣 On the other hand, he expresses his love for you by giving expensive gifts and physical touch.
His view on hero/vigilante reader and if he discovers Dr. Seraph as real feelings for them:
💣 About the hero reader, in simple words, Fatalité hates them. They take away or prevent him from getting the things HE wants.
💣 His views on vigilante reader will change depending on how much they are on the good side. If they are serving justice but with no moral ground, he will hate them as much as the typical hero. But if they are more flexible with their activities, Fatalité might try to work with them if it can serve his interests.
💣 If Jules founds out that Dr. Seraph is in love with the reader; he will be shocked and feel a bit betrayed. With all the people in the world he chose his arch nemesis!? Vincent should just spit in his face while he's at it.
💣 As long as his sidekick don’t plan on betraying him literally, he doesn’t mind this obsession of his. Actually, it could even turn into something positive, for exemple if Dr. Seraph decides to kidnap the reader for himself. That way Jules wouldn’t have to deal with them anymore.
・*:.。..。.:*・*:.。..。.:*・
I hope this satisfied your curiosity about Fatalité!

very real wips, things I'm actively working on
Super Six and the Siren's Call (PJO AU- +100k) co-written with @inexplicablymine and @happiness-of-the-pursuit one of the most wonderful projects I've had the honour to be a part of and I'm so exicted for people to see it
Toe the Line (Figure Skating AU - 20k currently) my dearest child, 60 pages of outline, investigation, character sheets and visions i have at three am for a random scene 5 chapter away
Y recuerda siempre que tú eres la medicina (A bilingual June character study) A companion piece of sorts for a train of thought (of things not to forget), June's perspective through it all, both in Spanish and English like Alex's. and with Natalia Lafourcade lyrics as a title because that's June coded
carved within the beauty, the darkness in between and without (your) love, I am nothing two pieces about religion and firstprince from each of their povs, a question about loving yourself and about loving someone else against the things you've been taught and finding divinity within each other.
Tumblr media
not so real wips with a little less real word counts but a lot of vibes
Spiderman AU, my entry for the New Years Resolutions event of @thebrownstone, which means it'll get here at some point
MasterChef AU, my way to put my professional knowledge to good use, it was a silly funny story and it grew a plot
Dancer AU, a drabble fail that was just a vision and then some people kind of made it get a full dual pov, double 5 + 1 plot

top 3 sorted by kudos
las formas de llamarte amor (2.5k - 630 kudos)
my first fic in the rwrb fandom, it makes me so happy to see it being loved, it was the ultimate show of self indulgence
Henry has been a public figure for most of his life, the reason why he’s been given dozens of titles, some kinder than others, he’s been the gay prince, the spare, the prince of England's hearts, the activist, the author. All of the titles are inevitably a part of his history, but the way Alex calls him is the most important of all. Because to Alex, he is sweetheart, amor, and corazón; Alex calls him mi vida in between kisses and whispers hermoso, lindo, precioso with his wandering hands working through Henry’s body. His name sounds better when it comes out of Alex’s lips. or 5 times Alex calls Henry a pet name in Spanish and one time he calls him by his name or Henry learns Spanish one pet name at a time
to belong to a family (even beyond this world) (2.5k - 578 kudos)
this one, this one i wrote with my own soul, i used my tears as ink, wrote it for the Halloween Huh fest and it all the comments have made me so incredibly happy
“Talk to him. They listen, they always listen,” Ligia says and Henry nods, she squeezes his hand again before turning back and leaving him alone in front of the ofrenda. It's very rare that Henry has been at a loss for words when he tries to talk to his father. He has spent countless nights speaking to the stars, looking for Orion and hoping that —wherever his father is— he is looking for it too. “Hi dad,” Henry says softly, taking another look at the picture of his father, smiling at the camera. “I missed you.” or When Alex and Henry go to Mexico for Día de Muertos a familiar face appears on the Díaz ofrenda
you are an idiot (i missed you) (1.6k - 475 kudos)
wrote this on a whim, blacked out and pulled this out of nowhere, my first fic for aftg and really just an excuse to write Andreil being married for convenience™
The best, and arguably the only, good part of playing on opposing teams from your husband was getting to play a match against him. Therefore one could say that Neil was very excited about getting to play against Andrew tonight. Not only because for the first time since the season started they'd finally be in the same State and City (And later after the game, the same house) but also because Neil thought Andrew was 100% hotter when he was playing (Not that he would tell him out loud), and seeing him live was definitely better than seeing him on a screen. There was also the added bonus of the infamous Minyard - Josten Rivalry. Or Neil and Andrew are having too much fun with their rivalry until someone else takes it too seriously, and then they have a talk.

Three of my wips have an outline longer than 10 pages
there's a 30%? chance I will write smut at some point in the new year
my funniest doc title is "If you have religious trauma and you know it clap your hands"
This year has been crazy, for many reasons but I'm glad I found this space and I'm glad I'm back to writing, and on top of it all I'm glad of being able to meet so many because of it.

Days 0 & 1 - Planes, Trains, and Penises
Steps walked: 23,230
Flights climbed: 11
Vehicles ridden: 7
Points of interest visited: 1
Lemons spotted: Yes.
When you have a one hour layover in Montreal, and your flight to Montreal is delayed half an hour, you’re starting your trip with what I like to call a “cinched sphincter”.
Long story short, we made it. One uneventful three hour flight to Montreal (PLANE #1) led us to sprint thru the Canadian airport and find ourselves tucked onto an eight hour flight to Roma* (PLANE #2) where we got priority served some surprisingly yummy vegan dinners with an equally surprising complimentary wine. Some movies and some sleep later we had a significantly less satisfying breakfast before landing on time in Rome.
Planes: ✔️
Our TRAIN #1 got us from the airport into Rome proper where we hopped onto our TRAIN #2 with about five minutes to spare. A two hour trip to Napoli had me napping uncomfortably and waking up in a significantly more unpleasant mood thanks to a little bitch I’ve named “Hunger”. By now it was 1pm local time, our bodies thought it was 7am, and we’d had naught by a lousy dry muffin on the plane, some oversteeped bitter tea, and jackshit for lunch. And we still had to get onto TRAIN #3 which would at last take us to our final destination… for the moment…: Pompei.
Despite paying for Dan’s phone to be useable abroad, we had apparently already exceeded a limit we didn’t know existed which forced us after some scrambling to navigate to our hotel the old fashioned way: looking at street signs and a map. All accompanied, don’t forget, by Hunger, whom nobody likes.
Then naturally no one was at the very small little BnB we had booked so we had to contact someone to let us in, who assured us they would be there in 5-10 minutes. In Italian that translates to, “at least ten minutes.” (I’m learning that they live at a different pace than I do, the Italians. Much less concern with “getting there”, ‘twould seem after my whole half day of observation.)
Anyway it’s all well and good. Our BnB is a quintessentially classic little European building which makes the contrast of minimalist modern interior design particularly amusing. But it’s clean and close to the ruins, which is the goal.
Not the immediate goal though. That’s food.
I found a restaurant .07 miles away that claimed to have options “vegano” and after an initial paralyzing fear that I’d chosen the wrong restaurant due to the screaming baby behind us, they left almost immediately leaving us the whole place to ourselves.
Tumblr media
We gorged ourselves on fresh pasta with mushrooms and garlic, paid quickly, and booked it to the ruins for our four o’clock tour.
Our poor guide had to do the whole tour in both English and Spanish which was a little bit of a bummer for us but still filled with lots of info about the ruins and also a hilariously stereotypical Italian interaction with our guide. “Ok, so-a here-a we-a have-a the penis-a arrow-a…”
You get the idea.
And yes, now you mention it, so many dicks in Pompei. Brothels with rooms dedicated to particular sex positions (indicated by the incredibly preserved illustrations above each room), dicks carved into the roads pointing the direction to the brothels for sailors who just came to port, dick illustrations in lieu of street names.** And lots of stories of orgies in the homes there as well. Free love was rampant in the Roman Empire. Also sacrifice and slavery and sewage running ankle deep in the streets which led to raised sidewalks and raised crosswalks.
Tumblr media
‘Twas incredible to see how well preserved many of these structures are. Still vibrant with color, reliefs still in great condition, original tile floors… I mean I couldn’t believe how much of what we saw was original. And still more is being excavated all the time! What else will they uncover?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We saw a few molds of the bodies. It’s hard to imagine how terrifying that ordeal must have been. Hopefully it was fast for everyone.
We wandered around for over two hours and barely made a dent in the park, but we were rapidly fading from human to spirit, alive to dead, and it was time to go home.
We stopped at a grocery store and immediately realized we had no idea what to buy, and couldn’t read Italian ingredients anyway. So after wandering around like ghosts for five minutes we bought juice then left.
The place we stopped at for dinner was … adequate. Would not recommend but it did in a pinch. We got some bland food to go and ate it in silence in our hotel room, counting down the minutes until we could shower in our doorless-hotel-shower and pass out.
Which is what I’m about to do now.
*why on earth do we give proper nouns different names in English? Why do we say Florence when we could say Firenze? Why do we say Naples when we could say Napoli? I’ve been in Italy for less than a day and I’m already irritated by this.
** Pompei was a trade town and people spoke many different languages including but not limited to Greek and Latin. So street names were not a good universal way to identify an address. Instead, they used symbols and imagery. We saw a sun, a face, and — yes — a dick.

Straight Fact about Marsella/Marseille from La Casa de Papel and some following Headcanon/Theories ✨✨
- Fact -
- Very discreet, he observes a lot and talk a little, called at a least at two reprises a mute (by Bogotà and Denver)
- Close to animals, especially dogs, love them, respect them, trust them more than human. He is against animal suffering.
- Ex-Soldier, has been called an assassin (by Bogotà) and Hitman (by Denver), killed human, killing a human is not a problem (straight up threatened Denver to cut him in half)
- Lost all his friends during war
- Had a dog during war, the dog was very loyal to him, stayed when human left (That dog was probably not Pamuk)
- Had a dog, Pamuk, very loyal/close to him too, got killed by children playing war
- Know many languages : Spanish, French, Italian, German, English, Croatian, Serbian
- React very quickly to Denver grabbing his arm/to physical provocation was trained to react that way + probably has a sharp instinct, not shy to threaten physically and orally someone
- Answer quickly to the professor order, see him as the chief/boss and obey him. One word from him is enough, do not discuss order.
- Extremely lucky - dude crash a car and get out pretty much without a scratch - I BEG YOUR PARDON ? - the car rolled and all, what if it had deformed to the point he couldn't get out ? What if he had broken a bone in the shock and couldn't dash out ? Because you can protect yourself all you want, getting in a crash, even one you plan, is very dangerous. Dude was like 'I have things to do and nothing will prevent me from doing them' and just walked out like nothing happened. Wtf man ?
- Has a lot of respect for the professor and to his plan. Will defend the plan when the professor wants to take risk but still follow change in plans if the risk is less than the gain (When they fight after Lisbon 'death' and then go into the crowd disguised.).
- Try to provide emotional support to the professor, he is clumsy about it but do his best and tries a lot of things
- Caring toward the professor, with (and I'm sorry but I don't know how to say it differently, but..) A certain tenderness. Like anybody in the group (or most) they are not just colleagues. But there is just a softness with him.
- React to Palermo 'Boum Boum Ciao' the same way the professor does. Seem annoyed, middly ashamed but also taken by the energy around (to crack a smile like the professor).
- Can be very intimidating if choose to, but in relaxed situation seem very kind/soft and not unbearing or obnoxious/showing.
- Extrapolations on Canon, Theories and Headcanons -
- The last hit he gave the professor when they were fighting is not because he misread the situation but because the professor just said Lisbon could betray them (which is technically true) and his hit was his way to say, 'have some faith/respect in your wife'
- During that fight he intentionally took hit from the professor to allow him to unload stress/give him a win. Why ? Because he is a trained ex-soldier who clearly shows good physical abilities, he knows how to fight and could probably take on Sergio even if he know how to fight too. Prior to this we see two scenes. One in a relaxed sitting (the soccer match) where Helsinki give him a slap and he doesn't react badly, he takes the hit and laugh, they were in front of each other he could have potentially avoid the hit, but did not hold grudges for that hit, basically taking a hit or two is not much for him and won’t be enough for him to get angry/escalate a situation. BUT during the pig scene to remove a micro, he reacts badly to physical provocation by Denver after he had to defend his position not to touch the animal with the rest of the team. Even if just a few said something, the whole team was baffled by his decision/principle, it was a moment where he was 'alone against all' and he defended himself in a quick and efficient manner.
They are in a middle of a heist, they are allies and he clearly does not want to fight, he fights because Sergio wants to fight and he probably doesn't give his all but just enough not to get bullied and give Sergio a mean to keep unleashing on him. (Man I swear you're doing too much)
- Definitely have some trauma and problem concerning human and trust. In two separate points, he has lost a lot or enough, and he had been deeply hurt by that (his friends all dead, his animals), probably have some unhealed emotional scars or one that heal badly and one way to cope is to keep a bit of distance + he seems to have a certain discipline/restrain in general.
Second, he mistrust humans, he is careful around them. Probably (definitely) has seen a large panel of the worst humanity has to offer. Probably don't trust easily but love when someone proves him they are worth trusting - which I think is what happened with the professor. Otherwise probably work alone or keep some distance.
- Jumping on that. He completely agreed to the professor as the boss, and his boss. Coming from a military background, he is used to having someone above him giving order and he answer promptly to the professor order or demand without questioning it/arguing (except when it touch to something the professor explicitly stated they should not do like improvisation, then he will argue). Overall he trusts him, might even admire him or have a deep respect for him and his plan/what de does/his personality.
-> I also believe his personality is one of a 'shadow' by that I mean he is his best as close support to someone/something acting behind for the good of the plan (which he does in the series), but I think he thrives in that role. He is a real doer. Dude will do anything that need to be done. like, he is perfect for a second, with someone above him to direct the action.
- Always had a good relationship to animals, now it had become a coping mechanism and a way to have companionship without the burden of 'human' nature. Not that he doesn't miss more close relationship to humans. Nor is it not painful when he loses someone or an animal close to him. it's just he find solace in animals compagny.
- Very soft, kind, caring inside. He let that out for the people he care about/trust. We see him mostly with the professor and above it being his role to care for the professor and all the 'beside' matter and needs. There are a lot of moments where he is very attentive to the professor or caring in ways that go above a professional setting (I'm sorry but when in the latest season when he put the cover back on Sergio as he sleep.. Such tenderness I swear ! or the way he tries to offer him emotional comfort/help)
-> Also the way he care for Sofia..
- Give off asexual vibe, sorry not sorry but it's true. That man is ace.
- Why is he on the heist ? I think outside of money and personal material gain he might be in for revenge against the system. He was a soldier, an executor in the government hands, he may want to fuck the system, give shit to a system that has used him, that took a lot from him. Maybe he was betrayed by that government and the people in it, root for his mistrust of human or just added enough to a preexisting base.
- The way he reacts physically and violently to Denver grabbing him when he turn away is very telling. He has a strong instinct and sharp reflex. But also definitely found himself in a situation where this would have been a life of death situation or overall high danger. This is absolutely pure speculation but outside of his work as a soldier and now hitman this reaction could be rooted deeper in child abuse and trauma, which could also reflect to his discreet and unshowing personality, he keeps to himself.
Anyway this looked like reflexes from training and from past traumatic experience. -> In a way his reaction seemed a bit too much (definitely) for the situation they were in, but also somewhat 'slow' (I'm interpreting too much the acting but whatever) as if he thought about reacting the way he did, nearly didn't but still did because he was pissed off from earlier and had been triggered. So he just decided to go with the outburst, and set his position straight.
-> Being grabbed from behind/prevented from leaving might also be from a fear/trigger to be trapped (the way he place himself behind in the class, close to the door (which could be nothing lol x) )). Which could also be tied to his time in military where his agency had been stripped from him completely/where he was lacking freedom and had to do things he didn't want to do.
- A big BIG softy, but also those hands have killed and will kill again. (in a way him and Helsinki are a bit alike)
- Keeps most of his emotions inside, tend to stay mostly neutral and what he show is just the tip of the iceberg, but don't be fooled, that man have a lot of emotions.
- Probably need a lot of time to open up, but do info dump at time when he think it might be relevant (ex: during the pig scene, or in the car with Sergio after Lisbon 'death') and you're like 'what ?' very likely need to be asked question if you want to know things about him.
- He likes honesty, but probably won't be himself, tend to be secretive, probably a good liar. He will be honest on a few important things otherwise...
- That man way of love his act of service x)

JACOBIN FICTION CONVENTION MEETING 1: La Seine no Hoshi (1975)
Tumblr media
1. Introduction
Well, dear reader, here it is. My first ever official review. And, as promised, this is one of the pieces of Frev media that you have likely never heard of before.
So, without further ado, sit down, relax, grab drinks and snacks and allow me to tell you about an anime called “La Seine no Hoshi” (The Star of the Seine).
“La Seine no Hoshi” is a children’s anime series made by Studio Sunrise. It consists of 39 episodes and was originally broadcast in Japan from April 4th to December 26th of 1975.
Unlike its more famous contemporary, a manga called “Rose of Versailles” that had begun being released in 1972 and is considered a classic to this day, “La Seine no Hoshi” has stayed relatively obscure both in the world of anime and among other Frev pop culture.
Personally, the only reason why I found out about its existence was the fact that I actively seek out everything Frev-related and I just happened to stumble upon the title on an anime forum several years ago.
So far, the anime has been dubbed into Italian, French, German and Korean but there is no English or even Spanish dub so, unfortunately, people who do not speak fluent Japanese or any other aforementioned language are out of luck ( if anyone decides to make a fandub of the series, call me). That being said, the series is readily available in dubs and the original version on YouTube, which is where I ended up watching it. The French dub calls the anime “La Tulipe Noire” (The Black Tulip), which could be an homage to the movie with the same name that takes place in the same time period.
Unfortunately, while I do speak Japanese well enough to maintain a basic conversation and interact with people in casual daily situations, I’m far from fluent in the language so the version I watched was the French dub, seeing as I am majoring in French.
So, with all of this info in mind, let’s find out what the story is about and proceed to the actual review.
2. The Summary
(Note: Names of the characters in the French dub and the original version differ so I will use names from the former since that’s what I watched)
The story of “La Seine no Hoshi” revolves around a 15-year old girl called Mathilde Pasquier - a daughter of two Parisian florists who helps her parents run their flower shop and has a generally happy life.
But things begin to change when Comte de Vaudreuil, an elderly Parisian noble to whom Mathilde delivers flowers in the second episode, takes her under his wing and starts teaching her fencing for an unknown reason and generally seems to know more about her than he lets on.
Little does Mathilde know, those fencing lessons will end up coming in handy sooner than she expected. When her parents are killed by corrupt nobles, the girl teams up with Comte de Vaudreuil’s son, François, to fight against corruption as heroes of the people, all while the revolution keeps drawing near day by day and tensions in the city are at an all time high.
This is the gist of the story, dear readers, so with that out of the way, here’s the actual review:
3. The Story
Honestly, I kind of like the plot. It has a certain charm to it, like an old swashbuckling novel, of which I’ve read a lot as a kid.
The narrative of a “hero of the common folk” has been a staple in literature for centuries so some might consider the premise to be unoriginal, but I personally like this narrative more than “champion of the rich” (Looking at you, Scarlet Pimpernel) because, historically, it really was a difficult time for commoners and when times are hard people tend to need such heroes the most.
People need hope, so it’s no surprise that Mathilde and François (who already moonlights as a folk hero, The Black Tulip) become living legends thanks to their escapades.
Interestingly enough, the series also subverts a common trope of a hero seeking revenge for the death of his family. Mathilde is deeply affected by the death of her parents but she doesn’t actively seek revenge. Instead, this tragedy makes the fight and the upcoming revolution a personal matter to her and motivates her to fight corruption because she is not the only person who ended up on its receiving end.
The pacing is generally pretty good but I do wish there were less filler episodes and more of the overarching story that’s dedicated to the secret that Comte de Vaudreuil and Mathilde’s parents seem to be hiding from her and maybe it would be better if the secret in question was revealed to the audience a bit later than episode 7 or so.
However, revealing the twist early on is still an interesting narrative choice because then the main question is not what the secret itself is but rather when and how Mathilde will find out and how she will react, not to mention how it will affect the story.
That being said, even the filler episodes do drive home the point that a hero like Mathilde is needed, that nobles are generally corrupt and that something needs to change. Plus, those episodes were still enjoyable and entertaining enough for me to keep watching, which is good because usually I don’t like filler episodes much and it’s pretty easy to make them too boring.
Unfortunately, the show is affected by the common trope of the characters not growing up but I don’t usually mind that much. It also has the cliché of heroes being unrecognizable in costumes and masks, but that’s a bit of a staple in the superhero stories even today so it’s not that bothersome.
4. The Characters
It was admittedly pretty rare for a children’s show to have characters who were fleshed out enough to seem realistic and flawed, but I think this series gives its characters more development than most shows for kids did at the time.
I especially like Mathilde as a character. Sure, at first glance she seems like a typical Nice Pretty Ordinary Girl ™️ but that was a part of the appeal for me.
I am a strong believer in that a character does not need to be a blank slate or a troubled jerk to be interesting and Mathilde is neither of the above. She is essentially an ordinary girl with her own life, family, friends, personality and dreams and, unfortunately, all of that is taken away from her when her parents are killed.
Her initial reluctance to participate in the revolution is also pretty realistic as she is still trying to live her own life in peace and she made a promise to her parents to stay safe so there’s that too.
I really like the fact that the show did not give her magic powers and that she was not immediately good at fencing. François does remark that her fencing is not bad for a beginner but in those same episodes she is clearly shown making mistakes and it takes her time to upgrade from essentially François’s assistant in the heroic shenanigans to a teammate he can rely on and sees as an equal. Heck, later there’s a moment when Mathilde saves François, which is a nice tidbit of her development.
Mathilde also doesn’t have any romantic subplots, which is really rare for a female lead.
She has a childhood friend, Florent, but the two are not close romantically and they even begin to drift apart somewhat once Florent becomes invested in the revolution. François de Vaudreuil does not qualify for a love interest either - his father does take Mathilde in and adopts her after her parents are killed so François is more of an older brother than anything else.
Now, I’m not saying that romance is necessarily a bad thing but I do think that not having them is refreshing than shoehorning a romance into a story that’s not even about it. Plus most kids don’t care that much for romance to begin with so I’d say that the show only benefits from the creative decision of not setting Mathilde up with anyone.
Another interesting narrative choice I’d like to point out is the nearly complete absence of historical characters, like the revolutionaries. They do not make an appearance at all, save for Saint-Just’s cameo in one of the last episodes and, fortunately, he doesn’t get demonized. Instead, the revolutionary ideas are represented by Florent, who even joins the Jacobin Club during the story and is the one who tries to get Mathilde to become a revolutionary. Other real people, like young Napoleon and Mozart, do appear but they are also cameo characters, which does not count.
Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI are exceptions to the rule.
(Spoiler alert!)
Marie-Antoinette is portrayed as kind of spoiled and out of touch. Her spending habits get touched on too but she is not a malicious person at heart. She is simply flawed. She becomes especially important to the story later on when Mathilde finds out the secret that has been hidden from her for her entire life.
As it turns out, Marie- Antoinette, the same queen Mathilde hated so much, is the girl’s older half-sister and Mathilde is an illegitimate daughter of the Austrian king and an opera singer, given to a childless couple of florists to be raised in secret so that her identity can be protected.
The way Marie-Antoinette and Mathilde are related and their further interactions end up providing an interesting inner conflict for Mathilde as now she needs to reconcile this relationship with her sister and her hatred for the corruption filling Versailles.
The characters are not actively glorified or demonized for the most part and each side has a fair share of sympathetic characters but the anime doesn’t shy away from showing the dark sides of the revolution either, unlike some other shows that tackle history (*cough* Liberty’s Kids comes to mind *cough*).
All in all, pretty interesting characters and the way they develop is quite realistic too, even if they could’ve been more fleshed out in my opinion.
5. The Voice Acting
Pretty solid. No real complaints here. I’d say that the dub actors did a good job.
6. The Setting
I really like the pastel and simple color scheme of Paris and its contrast with the brighter palette of Versailles. It really drives home the contrast between these two worlds.
The character designs are pretty realistic, simple and pleasant to watch. No eyesores like neon colors and overly cutesy anime girls with giant tiddies here and that’s a big plus in my book.
7. The Conclusion
Like I said, the show is not available in English and those who are able to watch it might find it a bit cliché but, while it’s definitely not perfect. I actually quite like it for its interesting concept, fairly realistic characters and a complex view of the French Revolution. I can definitely recommend this show, if only to see what it’s all about.
Some people might find this show too childish and idealistic, but I’m not one of them.
I’m almost 21 but I still enjoy cartoons and I’m fairly idealistic because cynicism and nihilism do not equal maturity and, if not for the “silly” idealism, Frev itself wouldn’t happen so I think shows like that are necessary too, even if it’s just for escapism.
If you’re interested and want to check it out, more power to you.
Anyway, thank you for attending the first ever official meeting of the Jacobin Fiction Convention. Second meeting is coming soon so stay tuned for updates.
Have a good day, Citizens! I love you!

How did you become a university Librarian? Did you do an English degree? Sorry if this is a weird question it just really interests me as I’m not sure what to do when I’m older
Eeee I got really excited about this question!
Okay, the fun thing about librarianship is that all roads can lead to it: as long as you get an ALA-approved (assuming you’re American; if you aren’t I cannot help you) graduate degree you can do just about anything for undergrad. English majors are extremely common, just by the nature of who’s into the job, but literally it doesn’t matter; in fact, weirder and more specialized degrees can actually help in certain jobs, because they give you a ton of background info and qualifications than most of your contemporaries have.
I fell into it because I worked at a library in high school and fell in love with the environment, and when I realized I’d rather die than work in publishing (my previous life’s goal) I gravitated toward library school. I knew from the beginning that I’d need a Master’s -- and a very specific one at that -- so mostly my undergrad was just “grab a foundational degree and have fun with it.” That was really freeing, honestly. I had a ton of fun in undergrad.
Now, if you, Anon, were interested in getting into librarianship I’d have a handful of recommendations. These are all based on my very American experience, and there are probably smarter people than me with better advice but I’m the only one on this blog so heeeeerrreeeee we goooooooooo!
Undergrad
You need a 4-year degree. Full-stop. It doesn’t matter what kind, but you gotta have one to get into grad school.
Like I said, you can do just about anything for an undergraduate degree. Most of the time English is the BA of choice, because librarians love them some books, but some far less common ones that I think would be hugely helpful to a hopeful librarian would be:
Computer Science: Oh my god you need at least a baseline competency in computers/technology please you don’t have to code but you need to be able to turn a computer on and navigate just about any website/office application on just about any device at the very least you need to know how to Google
Business/Marketing: Particularly if you want to work in public libraries, where a bunch of your funding comes from begging politicians and convincing taxpayers to donate/vote to give you money
Law: If you want to be a law librarian
Medical . . . whatever, I don’t know what fields of medicine there are: If you want to work in a hospital or other medical library
History or Art History: If you’re interested in archives or museum librarianship
Education: School librarians in my state require you to be a certified teacher, and no matter what kind of library you end up in, you’ll end up teaching someone something a decent amount of the time
Communications: You’ll be doing a lot of it. Public speaking, too
Spanish/ASL/any not-the-common language: Hey, you never know what your patrons speak
Literally fucking anything I promise it doesn’t matter what you major in you will use it in a library at some point
Just be aware that you will need more than an undergrad degree. You’ll need probably 2 years of postsecondary schooling (more for certain types of librarianship), so get yourself comfortable with the idea of college.
If you’re like me (please don’t be like me), you might toy with the idea of getting a minor or two/double majoring to round out your skill set. Honestly I’d encourage it if you’re comfortable with the workload and have the time or money; like I said, there are no skills or educational background that won’t come in handy at some point. I promise. We see it all.
Along those lines, a wide expanse of hobbies can be hugely helpful too! You never know when your encyclopedic knowledge of Minecraft will be useful to a patron, but it absolutely will be.
Graduate School
All right, you’ve got your lovely little Bachelor’s Degree, maybe in something weird and esoteric for the fun of it . . . now you’re off to do more school!
It’s a bit complicated, because there are a handful of different titles an appropriate degree could have; my school called it “a Master of Science in Information Science” (MSIS), but other schools might just go with “Master’s of Information Science” (MIS), “Master’s of Library Science” (MLS), “Master’s of Library and Information Science” (MLIS) . . . it’s a mess.
What you need to do is make sure the degree is approved by the American Library Association, who decides if a program is good enough to make you a librarian in the States. (Again, if you’re not American, good luck.)
Here’s a list of ALA-accredited programs and the schools that offer them.
The nice thing is accreditation has to be renewed at least every few years, so that means your program is always updated to make sure it’s in line with national standards. I’m not promising you’ll learn everything you need to be a librarian in grad school (oh my god you so won’t not even close hahahaha), but at least in theory you’ll be learning the most up-to-date information and methods.
(I’m curious to see how things have changed; when I was in school from 2015-17, the hot topics in library science were makerspaces (especially 3D printing), turning the library into the community’s “third space,” and learning how to incorporate video games into library cataloging and programming. No idea if those are still the main hot-button issues or if we’ve moved on to something else; I imagine information literacy and fake news are a pretty big one for current library students.)
Anyway! You pick a school, you might have to take a test or two to get in -- I had to take the GRE, which is like the SATs but longer -- almost certainly have to do all that annoying stuff like references and cover letters and all that, but assuming you’re in: now what?
There are a couple options depending on the school and the program, but I’m going to base my discussion around the way my school organized their program at the time, because that’s what I know dammit and I will share my outdated information because I want to.
My school broke the degree down into 5 specializations, which you chose upon application to the program:
Archives & Records Administration: For working in archives! I took some classes here when I was flirting with the idea, and it’s a lot of book preservation, organizing and caring for old documents and non-book media, and digitization. Dovetails nicely into museum work. It’s a very specific skillset, which means there will be jobs that absolutely need what you specifically can do but also means there aren’t as many of them. It makes you whatever the opposite of a “jack of all trades” is. You’re likely to be pretty isolated, so if you want to spend all your time with books this might be a good call; it’s actually one of the few library-related options that doesn’t require a significant amount of public-facing work.
Library & Information Services: For preparation to work in public or academic (college) libraries. Lots of focus on reference services, some cataloging, and general interacting-with-the-public. You have to like people to go into library services in general, heads up.
Information Management & Technology: Essentially meaningless, but you could in theory work as like a business consultant or otherwise do information-related things with corporations or other organizations.
Information Storage & Retrieval: Data analytics, database . . . stuff. I don’t really know. Computers or something. Numbers 3 and 4 really have nothing to do with libraries, but our school was attempting to branch out into more tech-friendly directions. That being said, both this and #3 could definitely be useful in a library! Libraries have a lot of tech, and in some ways business acumen could be helpful. All roads lead to libraries; remember that.
Library & Information Services / School Library Media Specialist: This was the big kahuna. To be a school librarian -- at least in my state -- you need to be both a certified librarian and a certified teacher, which means Master’s degrees in both fields. What our school did was basically smushed them together into a combined degree; you took a slightly expanded, insanely rigorous 2-2.5 years (instead of the traditional 1.5-2) and you came out of it with two degrees and two certifications, ready to throw your butt into an elementary, middle/junior high, or high school library. Lots of focus on education. I started here before realizing I don’t like kids at all, then panicked and left. Back in 2017 this was the best one for job security, because our state had just passed a law requiring all school librarians to be certified with a MSIS/MLS/whatever degree. So lots of people already in school libraries were desperately flinging themselves at this program, and every school was looking for someone that was qualified. No idea if that’s changed in time.
No matter what concentration you went in with, you automatically graduated with a state certification to be a librarian, which was neat. You didn’t automatically get civil service status, though; for some public libraries you need to be put on a civil service list, which means . . . something, I’m not entirely sure. It involves taking exams that are only available at certain times of the year and I gave up on it because it looked hard.
No one did more than 1 concentration, which is dumb because I wanted to do them all, but it takes a lot of time and money to take all the classes associated with all of them so I personally did #2, which was on the upper end of mid-tier popularity. School library and database services were far and away the most popular, and literally no one did the business one because it was basically useless, so library and archives were the middle children of which the library one was prettier.
THAT BEING SAID! Some forms of librarianship require a lot more education. A few of those are:
Law librarians: At least in my state, you gotta be a certified librarian and have a J.D. This is where the “big bucks” are -- though let’s be real, if you want to be a librarian you have zero interest in big bucks; reconcile yourself to being solidly middle-class and living paycheck-to-paycheck for the rest of your life or marrying rich -- which I guess is why it requires the most work.
School librarians: Like I mentioned, depending on the state you might need two degrees, and not all schools smush them into one. You might need to get a separate Master’s in education.
College librarians: Now, this depends on the college and the job; some colleges just need an all-access librarian, like mine. I didn’t need to specialize in anything, I just showed up with my degree and they took me. (Note: these sorts of entry-level positions tend to pay piss. Like, even more piss than most library gigs. Just a heads-up.) However, if you’re looking to get into a library of a higher-end university, you might be asked to have a second Master’s-level or higher degree just to prove you’re academic enough to party at their school. (Let’s be real, Harvard is almost certainly gonna want someone with a Ph.D. at the very least. That’s just how they roll.) Alternatively, the position might be for a specialty librarian, someone in charge of a field-specific library or field-specific reference services; if you’re being asked to head up the Science & Engineering Library at Masshole University, it’s reasonable to expect that you’ll be bringing a degree in engineering or some sort of science to the table. Colleges have so many different needs that predicting what kind of experience/education you should get is a bit of a challenge. Good luck. Some schools will help you out a bit with this; my grad school had dual degree programs where you could share credits between the MSIS and either an English or History Master’s so you could graduate with both in less time. I . . . started this, and then panicked at the thought of more school/writing a thesis and bailed, but it’s great if you’re into that idea!
What’s the point of the Information/Library Science degree?
You have to have the degree. If you don’t have the degree, you don’t get the job and you don’t make-a the money. Resign yourself to getting a Master’s degree or you’re gonna be bummed out and unemployed.
In terms of what you learn? Well, obviously it depends on the program, but I found that a lot of what I learned was only theoretically related to what I do on a daily basis. My instructors were lovely (well, the adjuncts anyway; the full-timers really didn’t want to be there and wanted to be off doing research and shit), but every library is so idiosyncratic and there’s such a massive umbrella of jobs you could get in one -- god, I didn’t even get into things like metadata services, which I learned basically nothing about in grad school but are super important to some positions -- that it’s hard to learn anything practical in a classroom.
However, besides the piece of paper that lets you make-a the money, there are two important things you should get from your grad school education:
Research skills: My god, you’re going to be doing so much research. If you’re a public librarian, you need to know how to Google just about anything. And if you’re a college librarian, being able to navigate a library database and find, evaluate, and cite sources . . . I mean, you’re going to be doing so much of that, showing students how to do that. Like a ridiculous amount of my day is showing students how to find articles in the virtual library. Get good at finding things, because much like Hufflepuffs, librarians need to be great finders.
Internship(s): Just about every library program will require an internship -- usually but not always in replacement of a thesis -- and if the one you’re looking at doesn’t, dump it like James Marsden in a romantic comedy. Internships are hugely important not only because they look good on a resume and give you some of those delicious, delicious references, but they are a snapshot of what your job is going to look like on a day-in, day-out basis; if nothing else, you’ll learn really fast what does and doesn’t appeal to you. As I mentioned, I wanted to be a school librarian for about half a semester. You know what changed my mind? My class required like 40 hours of interning at schools of each level. Being plopped into that environment like a play you’re suddenly acting in? Super helpful in determining whether or not this shit is for you.
What else should I learn, then?
Besides how to research basically anything? Here are some useful skills in just about any library:
Copyright law. Holy shit, do yourself a favor and learn about publishing/distribution laws in your state. Do you wanna show a movie as a fun program? You need to buy a license and follow super specific rules or it’s illegal! Does an instructor want to make copies of their textbook to give to the students? Make sure you know how much they can copy before it’s no longer fair use! Everything in my life would be easier if I’d taken the time to learn anything about copyright. I did not, and now I’m sad. (I lost out on a job opportunity because they wanted the librarian to be particularly knowledgeable in that kinda thing, and I was very not.)
Metadata and cataloging. In theory, you should learn this in grad school, but I was only given the bare basics and it wasn’t enough. Dublin Core, MARC-21, RDF -- there are so many different kinds of metadata schema, and I took a 6-week class in this and still don’t understand any of the words I just used in this sentence. But basically, to add items to a library catalog you often need to know how to input them into your library’s system; to an extent that’ll be idiosyncratic to your library’s software, but some of it will be based on a larger cataloging framework, so familiarity with those is very useful.
Public speaking and education. You’re gonna do a lot of it. Learn how to deal.
General tech savviness. Again, we’re not talking about coding but if you can navigate a WordPress website? If you know how to troubleshoot just about any issue with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.? If you can unjam printers and install software and use social media you’re going to be a much happier person. At the very least, know how to google tutorials and fake your way through; your IT person can only do so much, and a lot of it is probably going to fall on you.
Social work, diplomacy, general human relations kinda stuff. You’re going to be dealing with all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds, with every political view, personal problem, and life experience under the sun. You need to get very good at being respectful of diversity -- even diversity you don’t like* -- and besides separating your own personal views and biases from your work, you’ll be much better equipped to roll with the punches if you have, for example, conflict resolution training. Shit’s gonna get weird sometimes, I promise. (Once a student came in swinging around butterfly knives and making ninja noises. You know who knew how to deal with that? Not me!)
Standard English writing and mechanics. It’s not fair, but in general librarians are expected to have a competent grasp on the Standard English dialect, and others are less likely to be appreciated by the general populace. Obviously this differs based on your community and environment, and colloquialisms are sometimes useful or even necessary, but as a rule of thumb it’s a good call to be able to write “properly,” even if that concept is imperialist bullshit.
*I don’t mean Nazis. Obviously I don’t mean Nazis. Though there is a robust debate in the library community about whether Nazis or TERFs or whatever should be allowed to like, use library facilities for their own group meetings or whatever. I tend to fall on the “I don’t think so” side of the conversation, but there’s a valid argument to be made about not impeding people’s access to information -- even wrong or harmful information.
Any other advice?
Of course! I love to talk. Let’s see . . .
Get really passionate about freedom of information and access: A library’s main reason for existing is to help people get ahold of information (including fiction) that they couldn’t otherwise access. If you’re a public librarian, you have to care a lot about making sure people can access information you probably hate. (If you’re an academic librarian it’s a little more tricky, because the resources should meet a certain scholarly threshold, and if you’re a school librarian there are issues of appropriateness to deal with, but in general more info to more people is always the direction to push.) Get ready to defend your library purchases to angry patrons or even coworkers; get ready to defend your refusal to purchase something, if that’s necessary. Get ready to hold your nose and cringe while you add American Sniper to your library collection, because damn it, your patrons deserve access to the damn stupid book. Get really excited about finding new perspectives and minority representation, because that’s also something your patrons deserve access to. Get really excited about how technology can make access easier for certain patrons, and figure out how to make it happen in your library. Care about this; it’s essential that you’re passionate about information -- helping your patrons find it, making sure they can access it, evaluating it, citing it . . . all of it. Get ranty about it. Just do it.
Be prepared to move if necessary: One of my professors told us that there was one thing that would always guarantee you a job that paid well -- this was in 2016 but still -- that as long as you had it you could do whatever you wanted. And that was a suitcase. Maybe where you live is an oversaturated market (thanks for having 6 library schools in a 4-hour radius, my state). Maybe something something economic factors I don’t really understand; the point is that going into this field, you should probably make peace with the idea that you’ll probably either end up taking a job that doesn’t make enough money or struggle a lot to even find one . . . or you’re going to have to go where the jobs are. It’s a small field. Just know that might be a compromise you have to make, unless you can get a strictly remote job.
Read: This sounds stupidly obvious but it’s true! Read things that aren’t your genre, aren’t your age range; patrons are going to ask you for reading advice all the goddamn time, especially if you’re a public librarian, so the more you can be knowledgeable about whatever your patrons might ask you about, the easier your life will be. If you’re considering librarianship you probably love to read anyway, so just ride that pony as hard as you possibly can.
Learn to be okay with weeding -- even things you don’t think deserve it: You are going to have to recycle books. You’re going to have to throw away books. You’re going to have to take books out of the collection and make them disappear in some fashion or another. There are a lot of reasons -- damage and lack of readership are big ones -- and there’s no bigger red flag to a librarian than someone saying “I could never destroy a book.” That kind of nonsense is said by people who’ve never had to fit 500 books onto a shelf built for 450. Archivists are different, of course, as are historians, and everyone should have a healthy respect for books both as physical objects and as sources of information, but you’re going to have to get rid of them sometimes, and you’re just going to have to learn how to do that dispassionately.
Have fun! No one gets into this because they want money; if you want to be a librarian, or work in any library-adjacent field, it’s because you really care about the values of librarianship, or the people in your community, or preserving and sharing as great a wealth of information as possible. Your job will often be thankless and it’ll sometimes be exhausting. There will be times where it’s actually scary. And unless you’re rich as balls, it will make you stare at your student loans and sigh with despair. (You may be living in your parents’ basement while you sigh at your loans because you can’t afford to live on your own, for an example that has zero relevance to any authors of this blog, living or dead.)  I can’t tell you if it’s worth it -- though you’ll probably find out pretty quickly during your internship, because that’s what internships are for. All I can say is that I love it, and I can’t imagine doing anything else.

Major Updates to My Weird Idea (that includes my Nightside OCs)
Go check my previous post on this - HERE
This is mainly an update for @schizoauthoress , @the--blackdahlia , @spacelizardtrashboys , @enigmaticandunstable and @piratewithvigor and I personally think @nattinngrst might like this.
I went on a trip to the beach yesterday with my parents and my older brother (who I bored and annoyed with this idea and you'll see some of his influence in this here post)
Anything written in italics is meant to be taken as a joke as you read through this wall of text, sending good vibes as always, hope y'all are doing well.
The show is set in Canadian, Texas (real place: Wikipedia). I'm thinking of this show starting in the mid-to-late 90s (1996/1997).
I've managed to do several things with that weird sitcom idea, so, where to start, how about with the three potential titles:
1 - Neighbourhood Watch
2 - First Call
3 - First Round (Which my brother likes)
Here are some options for bar names, starting with the Cop bar:
1 - The Donut Hole
2 - The Roasted Hog (which my big bro suggested)
3 - The Sherriff's Outpost
And the Biker Bar:
1 - The Handlebar Inn
2 - The Steel Horse Saloon
3 - The Rebel Room
Next on the list of updates: Cast additions, character roles and (Finally after 2 days) Names for Everyone!!
I'll start with the Cop Bar's owner & staff:
Rosalina Asturias 'Rosa' (Played by Billie Martinez) an employee of the local cop bar. Didn't grow up in the town, moved here for work.
Violet Croft (Played by Eli Herne) an employee. Grew up in town, never left, has the hots for one of the guys in the local police.
Sunshine Crawford 'Sunny' (Played by Holly Di Antonio) an employee. Grew up in town, left for college and came back.
Roscoe Power 'Ross' (Played by Jimmy Hart) the loudmouth who owns the bar, grew up in town, used to be a car salesman.
Olesya Pavlovsky 'Olivia' (Played by Penelope Voronin) an employee who grew up in town and has immigrant parents, goes by 'Olivia' because she would rather you don't f*** up her actual name.
Winona Vance (Played by Sam Griffin Silver) an employee who moved here from New York, for unknown reasons, and doesn't really understand the small town, everyone knows everyone lifestyle.
Lavender Whittemore (Played by Victoria Lucifarian) an employee who grew up in England but moved to live in America, settled in Canadian, Texas due to her love of westerns.
Next: The Local Police Squad:
Sergeant Valentine Gautier 'Val' (Played by Bret Hart) recently promoted before the series begins but still on patrol duty, watches over his younger brother.
Corporal Buck Morris 'Buckshot' (Played by Davey Boy Smith) the gun loving corporal of the squad and the only one to have both 'work' and 'home' guns.
Captain Napoleon Cooper 'Crazy Cooper' / 'Captain Crazy' (Played by Jim Neidhart) the police captain, recently reassigned to Canadian, Texas as there were rumours abut him which interfered with his work in his previous location.
Officer Duke Gautier (Played by Owen Hart) the young, recently recruited brother of Sgt Gautier, often put on patrol alone to ensure less arguments, but always checked on by his brother.
Next: The Biker Bar's Staff:
Ozzy Rains (Played by Charles Wright) A biker and member of the staff who grew up just outside of town but loves his fellow staff members like family.
Brock Martel (Played by Henry Godwin) a biker and member of the staff who grew up on a local ranch and loves beer, football and the current Mayor's down-to-Earth style.
Vincent Gore 'Vinnie' (Played by Kane) the owner's son and a known fire loving 'freak' often protected by his surrogate family, the bar staff, Vinnie knows no better than 'ooh, cool looking fire' and must be restrained or have his hands swatted away to stop him burning himself trying to touch campfires.
Raven Knight (Played by Kirby Roussimoff) the only female staff member, but also the girl who does all the tough jobs when needed, has a side business of making and selling artwork, such as portraits to locals, has designed some of the bar staff's tattoos.
Harlow Gore (Played by Paul Bearer) the owner of the bar and a loving father to his son, took Murphy (Undertaker) under his wing when they first met and also treats him, and the rest of staff, like family.
Hunter King (Played by Phineas Godwin) Brock's cousin and a member of staff, taught Raven how to shoot a shotgun and his father owns a local tattoo parlour.
Sequoia Reed (Played by Rikishi) an employee and Frankie's (Yokozuna) cousin, also a surrogate cousin to Raven, having been best friends since childhood. Reed loves his job and his staff family and will defend both at any cost.
Lupe Zapatero (Played by Savio Vega) an employee at the bar and possibly the shortest member of staff, towered over by the tallest staff members but is not any less of a fighter because of his size, a former mechanic who loves nothing more than taking things apart and putting them back together while listening to metal / rock.
Murphy Graves (Played By The Undertaker) Manager of the biker bar and an excellent member of staff, has an outlaw rules vibe, as in he would say to the police "Your jurisdiction ends when you walk in my bar." Very protective of the staff, and the owner.
Frankie Wolf (Played by Yokozuna) the most relaxed and laid-back of the staff, Frankie would prefer to be in the kitchen making potential 'Culinary Masterpieces' as he would call them. Sequoia and Raven's (surrogate) cousin, views his staff mates as family.
Next: The Local Band (Named: Exoskeleton Samurai)/College Students
Quinn Thorn (Played by Jeff Hardy) the bassist to Ros' (Lita) vocals / lead Guitar and older brother Garth's (Matt) Drums, a face paint enthusiast and an English major in college who never seems to find time to study, but always has time to date somehow.
Roz Jerome (Played by Lita) the vocals and lead guitar for the band and an art major who actually studies, dating Garth (Matt) and met Quinn through him. Roz also studies Spanish and French.
Garth Thorn (Played by Matt Hardy) Quinn's older brother and the band's drummer, a major in psychology and a horror movie lover, Roz' boyfriend and almost totally devoted to her, even at the cost of his college work.
Next: The Local Townsfolk of Note:
Mayor Robert Sweet (Played by Jim Duggan) rarely seen, but apparently a good man with good ideas, helps out in volunteer projects and absolutely loves the town. Trying his hardest and people know this, and they love him. (did I meme correctly?)
Rusty Jarvis (Played by Mick Foley) the local hippie who has never left town, somehow managing to know both everything and nothing at the same town. (Very Dude Love with hints of Cactus Jack and Mankind) Does know how to fight when he needs to.
Redd Wayne (Played by 'Sycho' Sid Vicious/Justice) the local baseball/softball star, helps out at the local school/college teaching sports and likes Raven's artwork, he watches her draw when he can, runs the local little league & minor league baseball/softball games.
Earl Black (Played by Steve Austin) the most often seen regular at the biker bar, absolutely loves both the bar and the town, a hardworking guy who has befriended the entire staff (including Harlow and Vinnie) of the biker bar.
Lex Aston (Played by The Rock) a local struggling actor, teaching an acting class to pay the bills and an absolute ladies man, and for that reason he goes to the cop bar, to try and pick up one of the bartenders who works there, often favouring Rosa as she will jokingly flirt back.
Finally (for this section): The Degenerates and Their Benefactors:
Reign Yates (Played by Billy Gunn) Leon's (Road Dogg) best friend, often the getaway driver for the group and a scout for locations, often getting all the info on a place before telling Matty (H.H.H) and Dell (HBK). Often leaves town with Leon to get the heat off them. (and make out in secret)
Zelda Hooper (Played by Chyna) the only female degenerate but possibly the toughest, has a rap sheet as big as her arms, not to be trusted when around the other degenerates as she is usually the actual brains of the operation.
Matty Battle (Played by Hunter Hearst Helmsley) the co-leader of the degenerates, often protected by Zelda or Mark (Kevin Nash). does most of the talking but has the piss taken of him for his looks often by either other degenerates or locals who don't care for the degenerates.
Romeo Colombera (Played by Mike Rotundo/I.R.S) the right hand man of the mysterious benefactor, and often the lawyer for the degenerates as well as a taskmaster for them, telling them what the boss wants done and by what date.
Mark Rake (Played by Kevin Nash/Diesel) the tallest degenerate with a rap sheet as long as his leg, a former bouncer at a now closed nightclub, alongside best friend (and possibly boyfriend) Galo (Scott Hall) and now a bodyguard (when needed) for Matty and Dell (HBK, also boyfriends).
Leon Rose (Played by Road Dogg) best friend of Reign and a scout for the group alongside him. Has found every possible way to piss off other townsfolk and often in the most fights because of it, always on the police's radar for one thing or another and constantly leaving town because of it.
Galo Villalobos (Played by Scott Hall/Razor Ramon) the only (supposedly) Latino degenerate, raised in Canadian, Texas but his parents are from Cuba, Galo is a former nightclub bouncer (alongside Mark) Galo is known (for his ability to give minus fucks) as the most relaxed member of the group.
Dell Pain (Played by Shawn Michaels/HBK) the co-leader alongside Matty, a known flirt with people regardless of gender or sexuality, just to piss them off on some occasions. Dell grew up in town, knowing it like the back of his hand.
Giles Rennell (Played by Ted DiBiase) the mysterious benefactor of the group, bailing them out if needed, he stumbled across the group after seeing a police bulletin and decided to use them to cause enough chaos to guarantee a chance in the next mayoral election.
Zac Noel (Played by X-Pac) the shortest and youngest degenerate, Zac is often treated as the child of the group, being taught how to get away with crimes and trick the police into just letting him go by clerical error and tomfoolery.
Next on my list of updates: Season 1's episode list, episode titles, episode synopses, some spoilers, and the revolving door idea a bit further explained.
Series running order:
Biker bar episode
Cops on Patrol episode
Band/College Students episode
Cop bar episode (yes these are different)
Degenerates episode
(last episode of each season/series only) town meeting/town get-together (E.X: town hall meetings, the town getting together for a sports game or barbeque or restaurant opening)
1x01: Insert Coin to Start: The pilot episode of the series sees the local biker bar of Canadian, Texas installing two, brand new, arcade machines. After leaving for the night, the team finds the bar broken into and both machines missing with no evidence or possible suspects to the robbery. The team finds the machines relatively undamaged in an alleyway nearby. By the end of the episode there's still no suspects. B plot includes an argument between father and son, Harlow and Vincent which ends when Murphy gets involved.
1x02: Hot Pursuit: Newly instated chief of police Chief Cooper [Neidhart] makes changes to the patrol teams before tasking them with looking for any persons involved with (1x01)'s robbery and break-in, leading to a high speed chase later in the episode. B plot includes the squad coming to grips with the new, and much crazier, police chief.
1x03: Making Noise: Local band Exoskeleton Samurai [Team Extreme] are writing new music late at night while Roz [Lita] tries to study for a class the following day but, during a moment of quiet, they hear a break in a couple of doors down and attempt to see who it is. The group get a glimpse of Zac Noel [X-Pac] and Mark Rake [Nash] but not a full glimpse. Now aware of the local degenerates, the band try and forget about it and focus on their own lives until their apartment gets broken into when they're not there.
1x04: Donuts & Beer: The new cop bar opens on the other side of town, serving mainly (both savoury and sweet) bagels and donuts as well as beer (on tap and bottled), the fact it's slightly more risqué gets (both good and bad) attention on the place. Winona Vance [Sam] gets in a fight with Zac Noel [X-Pac] as she's locking up. Winona [Sam] being put in the hospital with a broken arm makes the rest of [Cop Bar]'s staff double down on getting justice for the near break-in.
1x05: Dirty Work: The first episode from the degenerates perspective. The degenerates are just causing general problems for the town without reason because it's fun' but it's quickly losing their interest as the heat on them rises. The end of the episode has Matty Battle [Triple H] receiving a call from 'Mister R' [DiBiase] offering him a deal.
1x06: Blue & Black: A brawl breaks out at [Biker Bar] following whispers that the people who broke in are in the building. The bikers who work at the bar threaten to hurt anyone who works for the rival bar if they try and mess with business while in the biker bar.
1x07: Captain Crazy: A rumour that the current captain was moved location and promoted to smooth over allegations that he may not be fully sane, Officer Duke Gautier [Owen] is determined to find the truth while Sergeant Valentine Gautier [Bret] and Corporal Buck Morris [Davey Boy] are determined to keep the peace and catch the local degenerates.
1x08: Broken Strings: following an argument with an ex girlfriend Quinn Thorn [Jeff] finds his guitar smashed and has to work odd jobs to buy another one (starting a potential series c plot). Garth Thorn [Matt] ends up in a fight with Galo Villalobos [Hall] which ends when Roz Jerome [Lita] smashes a table leg over the back of Galo's [Scott's] head, knocking him out and giving him over to the police.
1x09: Badges & Bottle Tops: Captain Cooper [Neidhart] stops by [cop bar] to talk with owner Roscoe Power [Jimmy Hart]. Meanwhile the Gautier boys [Owen & Bret] interrogate Galo Villalobos [Scott Hall] about what the degenerates are doing and why, getting no information about the mysterious benefactor over than he pays them a lot of money depending on what they do.
1x10: Paid off: The mysterious benefactor 'Mister R' [DiBiase] pays Galo's [Scott's] bail, getting him free for a while but side-lining him too. The benefactor remains hidden in shadow but Matty & Dell [Triple H & HBK] have a meeting with him to discuss money and the next job.
1x11: Written in Ink: the tattooed bikers on the staff encourage regular customer Earl Black [Austin] to get a skull tattoo on his back and even take him with them to the tattoo parlour they frequent, finding it to be burned to the ground with a 'freaks get lost' sign planted in the wreckage. Murphy Graves [Undertaker] dismisses the rumours that the arsonist is the fire fascinated Vincent Gore [Kane] and even gives him an alibi when the cops come looking for answers, putting blame on someone in town who knows about Vinnie's [Kane's] love of fire, which is nearly every person in town.
1x12: Sergeant Heartbreaker: Sergeant Gautier [Bret] is accused of flirting with the staff at [Cop bar] leading to a paid two day leave to get heat off of him while he's ordered to remain at home. Officer Gautier [Owen] and Corporal Morris [Davey Boy] are put on patrol together, leading to a high speed chase of Reign Yates, Leon Rose & Zelda Hooper [Gunn, Road Dogg & Chyna] after witnessing a mugging, assault and graffiti from the trio, the cops eventually lose them down a back road on private Giles Rennell's [DiBiase's] land they would need a warrant for.
1x13: Failing Grade: Quinn's [Jeff's] lack of sleep leads to him getting a fail on an test forcing him to do the semester again. Enraged by this Quinn [Jeff] considers leaving the school but is encouraged to continue following Garth [Matt] ending up in hospital following [1x12]'s assault and mugging on Garth & Roz [Matt & Lita].
1x14: Microphones & Megaphones: [cop bar]'s owner Roscoe Power [Jimmy Hart] installs a stage for local acts in the bar, leading to Violet Croft [Eli] performing later that episode (the closing of the episode into the credits) and the night before the first performance the bar is covered in graffiti, leading to a massive clean up effort from the staff and local volunteers (like Mick Foley & The Rock).
1x15: Trench Warfare: Romeo Colombera [IRS] the benefactor's [DiBiase's] right hand man and go-to lawyer gives the degenerates an list of jobs, run the police chief out of town by the end of the year, run the bikers out of town, and ensure that 'Mister R' [DiBiase] the benefactor wins the next mayoral election.
1x16: Fuelling Up: after closing up [biker bar] Raven Knight [Kirby] narrowly avoids being burned by her motorbike exploding in a ball of fire. Her boss, Harlow Gore [Bearer] tells her to take the week off, leading to her coming into the bar and sitting at the back of the bar, sketching the regular customers and having a long conversation with local sports star Redd Wayne [Sid].
1x17: Brothers in Arms: Together: the Gautier brothers [Bret & Owen] are put on patrol together leading to the arrest of Zelda, Matty & Dell [Chyna, Triple H & HBK] before the trio are bailed out, the brothers interrogate Dell Pain [HBK] (leading to a very 'basic instinct'-esque scene with Shawn in assless chaps and boxer briefs) who gives them no information on their behaviour and why they are doing the things they've done.
1x18: Night Time Fun: the band attends a college party, unknowingly with Zac Noel [X-Pac] also in attendance, leading to the trio being high and drunk and the Thorn brothers [Matt & Jeff] end up in a fight, almost being thrown out of college entirely for their actions the next morning.
1x19: Head or Hart: Violet Croft [Eli] and (officer) Duke Gautier [Owen] meet properly for the first time on a blind date, leading to them walking through the streets of Canadian, Texas at night. The date is quickly ended after Duke [Owen] spots Leon Rose [Road Dogg] spray painting [cop bar] and gives chase after handing Violet [Eli] his number.
1x20: Grunt Work: The degenerates have a group meeting about how to sabotage the town meeting, leading to Rennell [DiBiase] coming out of the shadows to lead the degenerates in a coordinated attack on the town hall. Leading to the degenerates waiting until the town meeting to begin the next day.
1x21: Town Meeting: Mayor Robert Sweet [Duggan] conducts a town meeting, leading to everyone airing their grievances with the degenerates recent spree of activity. At the end of the meeting, paint bombs hidden above the townsfolk go off all at once, covering everyone in bright, almost neon, green paint.

The Five Worst Things About Digimon World
I did it.
It took 20 years but I did it.
I finally beat Digimon World for the Playstation 1, a game that has haunted me for most of my lifetime, and I did it with a Phoenixmon, the reason why I use “Turquoisephoenix” as a handle!
Tumblr media
This is who I used to beat the game, named after an obscure Ratchet and Clank character because that’s just how I roll. The final boss battle involved a lot of Prominence Beam spamming and med recovery floppy spamming but I did it fair and square.
Before I get into what I thought about this game as a whole - and I do have a lot of good things to say about this game since I obviously enjoyed it enough to get to the end - I gotta talk about my least favorite things about this game. In a concise, Buzzfeed-esque list because I like writing things in easy to digest chunks.
Because, like most charming yet difficult games of the late 90′s, this game is very flawed and the flaws are pretty annoying!
Tumblr media
1. Care Mistakes
Tumblr media
The three emojis - Smile, Cool, and Poop.
Okay. This one - my least favorite part in the game - is going to take a bit of explanation.
First off, I don’t actually hate care mistakes existing as a mechanic. I think it’s a cute, virtual pet-y way to add a different wrinkle to evolution requirements, even if I think it’s a bit counter-intuitive to have to suddenly abuse my little companion once they reach Champion just because I want them to evolve into a floating metallic ball with a chainsaw.
My problem with care mistakes is that there’s literally no way of telling many care mistakes you have on your given Digimon.
Literally everything else in this game is concisely recorded and easily displayed on your Digimon’s stats screen. You can see how much your Digimon weighs. You can see their Happiness, their Discipline. How much Life they have left. Their Age. Even how many poops they need to make before they digivolve into a sentient pile of feces.
But Care Mistakes? Naaaaw, you just gotta remember every single thing that you did to your Digimon from the moment it evolves in your fallible human brain. What’s that? A good portion of this game involves grinding in the Green Gym and it’s really easy to make a Care Mistake there without knowing you did so because you mashed A too fast like the stat-grinding numskull that you are? Well, that’s just too fucking bad for you, then! Enjoy not getting some of the best evolutions, you piece of shit. You stooge. You moron!
Tumblr media
This game, multiple times: You know who I hate? The player.
Care Mistakes are such an invisible mechanic that, to this day, there are many guides with misleading info about what counts as a Care Mistake and what doesn’t, which...really stinks for a game such as this where you will be using a guide pretty extensively to get the Digimon you deserve. And you know why that is? Because we don’t get any indication as to whether or not some random event counts against you when raising your Digimon.
And honestly, having one of your main mechanics of the game being entirely invisible to the player is a terrible idea. Just put a little number in my profile that says “Care Mistakes: 0″ in there. Let me know this information without guessing.
2. The Glitches
Tumblr media
Pictured: Something that will CRASH YOUR GAME if you try it on a physical copy.
Let me start with a disclaimer that most of the glitches I’m going to complain about were added into the game when Digimon World was localized and therefore aren’t the original intent of the developers. There are certain versions of Digimon World that are more stable than others (The English PAL version is the best version to play because of this) and, if you play this game via “certain methods”, there are patches to circumvent some of the bigger problems.
That being said! Boy! Isn’t it ironic that a game where I’m exploring the digital world is plagued with so many annoying, game-ruining glitches? Especially if I’m playing this game on a physical 20-year old copy like a dunce?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Ohhhh...so Agumon thinks that they can block the Digimon game with their big fat Digimon-blocking head, do they?!”
The NTSC version of this game has a jukebox that will crash the game if you try to use it, keeping you from ever using a bonus feature meant to be a fun little reward for completing a certain dungeon, but that’s not as heinous as the Spanish, French, German, and Italian PAL versions of this game locking a good portion of the game to players because they forgot to make the Agumon in front of Ogremon’s Fortress an object you can interact with.
So that means, if you happened to get this game in one of four lucky countries, you can’t complete the Ogremon mission, you can’t recruit Whamon, you can’t recruit Shellmon, you can’t recruit anything tied to Shellmon’s bulletin board (which means no Vademon or Skullgreymon), and you can’t go to Factorial Town and recruit Giromon, Andromon, or Numemon. Ogremon is a key part of the Digimon World storyline and causes so many different things in the game to change, meaning that it should’ve been imperative to make sure this part of the game works!
But no. Instead this one little bastard Agumon keeps most players from finishing the game, because it starves players of those PAL regions of a bunch of Prosperity points, the main source of progression in this game. That means that Mt. Infinity and the final boss is just that much harder to unlock. It’s doable, but it’s more grueling process.
This really is a problem with the translators and really highlights a lack of general care with testing this game. Why this game was allowed to be shipped with such glaring bugs is anyone’s guess, especially in an era where you couldn’t release any patches over the Internet to fix retail versions.
3. The Monochromon’s Shop Minigame
Tumblr media
Ohhhh....this one was so close to getting the top spot. When I first wrote this draft, this was the top spot.
Monochromon was only spared of my true ire on account of the fact that it really only exists for one part of the game (rather than being a constant problem like the Care Mistakes and the Glitches are) and you can easily cheese it by sleeping in front of the store so that you can save scum your way to victory. Like a true Digital Champion!
At one point in the game, you gotta help a entrepreneur dinosaur rhino man make a profit, because he was stupid and put his convenience store in the middle of a giant canyon next to a gaping chasm. So you play a little game of haggling, where you try to ruthlessly oversell a bunch of random items to customers until you make enough of a profit that this talking dinosaur tells you that you passed his secret test of character, abandons his store, and moves into File City.
There’s just one problem with this minigame - everything is decided by RNG.
Tumblr media
“Get the hell out of my shop”
This minigame hates you. It wants nothing but to see you fail and to waste your time. The difference in profit margins of the three items (Meat sells for 50g, Portable Potties sell for 300g, and Medicine sells for 1000g) are so stark that, if you get too many customers asking for Meat, you might as well just reset the game and start over because it will be literally impossible to meet the requirement even if you busted the customer’s proverbial balls and squeezed every last bit out of their cutesy penguin faces.
Oh! It’s also RNG as to whether or not your customers will take your asking price or storm out of the store without buying anything!
It’s all the fun of working at retail! In a video game!
4. Three on One Battles
Tumblr media
What you see before you is a battle system that is really fun when it’s one vs. one, manageable at two vs. one, and downright unbearable at three vs. one.
The battle system works for the most part. You don’t have full control of your Digimon (and yes, you only have one Digimon with you at one time, so you can never stack the numbers in your favor) so you shout commands at it, commands that the Digimon’s AI are pretty good at following, and hope for the best as you chuck healing items at it.
It’s not the best battle system, but it’s fun. And it definitely reinforces the whole “this is a pet you’re taking care of with its own thoughts and feelings” atmosphere that this game is going for.
However, nothing can protect your Digimon from enemy fire concentrated on them, especially if you did the thing that most players do and equipped your Digimon with the most powerful attacks that also happen to have slower cast times than the faster, weaker attacks.
Tumblr media
What then happens is your Digimon’s Health is slowly whittled away as you are powerless to stop it, watching as your digital friend is straight up bullied by enemy Digimon as they keep falling to the ground over and over and over and over again.
The one saving grace is that Friendly Fire exists in this game so that oftentimes the enemy Digimon will damage each other in their mad dash to ruin your day, but that seems more like a band-aid than an actual fix to this system.
5. Fishing Seadramon
Tumblr media
“Hi, kid. Let me guess - you also thought you had to talk to the Tankmon in Factorial Town in order to unlock me, huh.”
This one is a lot less of a pain than the other four and it’s only a little annoying but boy...getting Seadramon kinda sucks in this game.
It took me almost a goddamn hour to catch Seadramon. One hour of gameplay devoted to catching one fish. Just like real fishing!
I will say, besides Seadramon, the fishing minigame in this game is pretty competent. It’s just that Seadramon is very elusive, showing up at only two hours in a 24 hour day, and is a very finicky fish that won’t take your bait even if you literally placed it in front of his dumb fish face.
Don’t be fooled by this screenshot. The heart just means you have the right bait. The heart means that you didn’t actually get within range of hooking him.
Tumblr media
IT’S RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!!!
Seadramon is also subject to almost as many gaming myths as the Care Mistakes are, due to how elusive he is, but that’s less to do with poor communication (the game does at least explain multiple times in multiple places how to find him) and more to do with the fact that catching him is just such a goddamn chore to do that players of this game always assume they’re doing something wrong.
When in reality, Seadramon is just a picky little bitch.
Tumblr media
Next time I discuss Digimon World, I’ll talk about things I liked, don’t worry. I just had to get all of this negativity out before discussing the full game proper.

Knot on your tongue
The request:
Tumblr media
Universe | Vikings, Lothbrok Trading C.O. AU Pairing | No pair Info | Modern Age AU, CEO! Ivar, Spanish Speaker! Friend! Business Woman! Reader, requested by anon for 5CW7 Words | 2273 ⁑ Warnings: Might content some language mistakes (non-speaker of Spanish here… Sorry!).
Tumblr media
"It's always a pleasure to work with people like you, Señor Lothbrok," your father said, shaking that man's hand, treating him with respect, as if he wasn't at least thirty years younger than him.
But the man with which your father was dealing at that meeting was nothing less than the current CEO of the biggest trading company of the market, buying the actions of your father's company for an amount that would warrant his deserved retirement, your life, and probably the life of the children you weren't thinking of having yet. And even paying this amount of money, Ivar Lothbrok accepted to have you as a counselor in his administration of your father's boats and docks. The company would, somehow, still be in your family's hands, honoring the years of your father's life that were invested in building that business.
You were extremely satisfied in seeing that smile on your father's face, but you couldn't miss Ivar's expression and the confusion in his eyes with lots of the words your father spoke during that meeting. It wasn't hard to see his lips in clumsy curves that were practically denouncing his complete unknowledge of your mother language - not something you would expect from a man of worldwide businesses like him, but something you would expect from a man used to make the great majority of his deals past the Middle East or across the Russian territory: The Lothbrok company was expanding to the west with your father's company acquisition - which was another reason why you convinced your father it would be a good deal: your company was the first one to count with the Lothbrok Trading C.O. interest and support and with their financial investment, your business would multiply the routes, increase the number of boats and you were sure you would see your father's business swallowing great part of the concurrence around.
It was a dream becoming true for your old man, but also, it was a plan for a lifetime career for you and if you wanted to sustain this, you knew that keeping your relationship closer to the group CEOs would be something crucial.
Of course, you heard the stupidity around the former shareholders of your enterprise - naturally pissed off with the negotiation that took from them the shares they thought would be theirs entirely after your father decided to retire. All of them were betting your father would marry you to any of the Ragnarssons and when Ivar came to consolidate the negotiation, you heard tons of jokes and misogynist words saying things from your father putting a real trustable mind in front of his business to him marrying you to the lamest of the Ragnarssons to ensure your inheritance would come sooner.
What those stupid old misogynist scum-bags didn't know is that you were the head behind the whole project, you were the one who went to the Scandinavian headquarters of the Lothbrok Trading C.O. to make the presentations that convinced all the five Ragnarssons that your business was worth to be bought and that deal was valuable for their expansion plans. You had no plans to marry any of them or none of that shit they thought you would do. You were a hell of a shark in their sea and the big fishes didn't notice your talent until it was too late for their wallets and the deal was closed despite their discontentment.
And this talent was exactly what allowed you to notice Ivar's discomfort with your father's expressions he couldn't fully understand. So, when your father apologized for leaving the place without sharing the meal they were planning to since he had to prepare the documentation for his retirement, you smiled at Ivar, accepting his invitation for a casual lunch.
You took him to a traditional restaurant near your office almost to confirm your speculation: Ivar's forehead furrowed while he was trying to read the menu and since it was a not so famous place, the thing was entirely in Spanish, not translated to the English he was used to using in their international negotiations.
"I... I'll follow you," he smiled, using the classic exit for moments like that, but you smiled back at him, comprehensively.
"I can help you with the menu if you admit you cannot read it, señior Lothbrok," you joked, repeating your father's way to call him.
The two of you had already talked a lot in the last year for you and Ivar to have some more intimacy and so, you were already able to treat him informally when the two of you weren't stuck into any office around the world. Björn was more serious for you, more distant. But he and the other brothers were already close enough for you to smile at his eyes rolling on the other side of the table.
"You're really having fun with it, aren't you?" he complained and you giggled.
"To be honest?" you left open, receiving one of those discontents smiles of his, only to smile a little bigger at him. "Yes, Ivar. It is interesting to see an intelligent man like you struggling with a simple menu, afraid of making an order and ending up with a plate of sauce or something stupid like this in your table. Or losing the chance to get the waitress's number just because you didn't understand that ‘guapo’ has nothing to do with your condition." you giggled at his surprised expression.
Yeah, you noticed the confusion in his eyes and how he didn't know exactly how to answer at the giggles among the waitresses, not knowing if they were mocking him because of his crutch but surely taking it the worst way since anything about his condition was a weak spot for him.
"She said you're handsome. That's why she's looking at you since we got into the restaurant," you translated for his surprise, almost laughing when he looked at the waitress and then at you again, fully shocked with what she said.
Tumblr media
"She..." he started and you completed.
"She's interested. Yeah, but you'll probably need an interpreter to understand whatever she'll say at the phone when you call. So, why don't you let me help you with my language instead of keeping struggling with your pride, uh?"
Ivar sighed, defeated. He was a man pretty full of pride and you couldn't blame him for this. During the time the two of you worked together you could really understand the deepest effort he made to raise his position so, you could completely understand his difficulty in admitting he needed some help.
"Fine..." he said, looking at you. "Fine," he repeated, more decided. "You're right. I need help with this thing. What the heck is a m... moe... mol-a-e-h," he rolled his tong and you smiled, trying to avoid giggling to prevent him to be offended.
"Mole. You say 'mol-eh'. It's a sauce. There is a lot of different recipes of mole, but this one is the mole poblano, usually served with turkey or chicken, see?" you showed him the picture at the menu, smiling with the attention in his eyes.
"Mol-eh," Ivar repeated, trying to get the pronunciation. "Mol-eh po... pobl...Jez... This will be a long ride," he sighed and you smiled.
"Nothing like learning your native Norwegian, my friend," you said, giggling this time of your complete inability to order anything but 'en fika' - that was a coffee with cookies you learned how to order in Swedish (The closer to Norwegian you would ever understand).
"I can try teaching you Norwegian in exchange. This way I won't feel such an ass when I start rolling my tongue to say these things... What's a po... poz...What is this?" he pointed the posole name, making you smile.
"Pozole. It's kind of a stew made with sweet corn, chili and pork or chicken. They have three variations here: green, white, and red, here... Verde, blanco o rojo," you pointed the words, teaching him how to say them. "It's a very spicy dish, but maybe you'll like it since you like challenges," you smiled.
"I'll try these so, one of each so I can see the differences," he smiled.
"Then make your order, Ivar," you smiled, pointing the waitress and causing him to gulp dry looking at you. "Say... 'Me gustaría las pequeñas porciones de Pozole, los tres.'" you taught, speaking slowly.
"Me gustaría... las p-pequeñas porciones de Po.. Pozole... los tres." he tried to repeat and you smiled.
"Almost there. Try again, slower. You don't need to speak in our speed," you advised, "Sometimes, we speak too quickly for the beginners, but you'll reach this point, don't worry."
"Me gustaría las peque-ñas porciones de... Pozole, los tres," he repeated, this time slower, more secure.
"Good. She'll get you, now call her..." you smiled, ready to make a little prank with him.
He raised his hand and the waitress who was looking at him came, shyly smiling at him.
"¿Cómo puedo ayudarlo, señor?" she said, and you nodded at him who softly cleaned his throat before trying the sentence you taught him to.
"Me gustaría... las pequeñas porciones de... Pozole." Ivar pointed the dish at the menu to ensure she would understand. "Los tres," he completed and she smiled, noticing he was learning to speak her language, softly reducing her speed to speak thinking he would understand her better.
"En un minuto, señor," she smiled looking at you, and you asked her for your favorite dish in that place, waiting as she took note of everything. "¿Algo más?" she asked and you smiled when he looked at you.
"How do I say 'not now?'" he asked and you smiled bigger.
"You say 'Ahora no, preciosa,'" you said, and he repeated, causing the waitress's face to burst in red as she smiled, leaving to take your orders with a giggle that caused Ivar to raise his brow.
"You tricked me," he said and you laughed, looking at him. "What did I say?"
"You said 'Not now, beautiful,'" you translated and he rolled his eyes looking at you.
"You're just like Hvitserk, always trying to get women in my life."
"Well, you should take the chances life is giving you, Ivar. You won't be young forever. And what's the matter of some drinks tonight with the beautiful waitress that's putting her phone number on the napkin of your tray right now? Uh?" you smiled and Ivar couldn't hold back his smile as well.
In the end, the two of you really became good friends and it was good to have some moments out of his business with you like that.
"You know you'll have to go with us, right?"
"I follow what I say, Ivar... I'm also in need of some moments out of the office," you smiled. "It will be good to have some fun tonight with your Spanish lessons," you joked and he smiled.
"Just keep in mind you won't flee from a night with my brothers and I when we come back to Kattegat..." he stated and it was your time to smile, surprised.
"We?" you asked, looking at him.
"As my personal counselor and future CEO of the Lothbrok Trading C.O. West Headquarters, I think you'll need to spend some more time with your colleagues..." he said as if he wasn't shotting in your face with those words.
"CE-What??"
It was his time to giggle, and he looked at you with security in his blues.
"Don't play the surprised one, Y/N. I can see your talent. You're a shark... Just like Björn and I. You're into this world until your neck and you know how to play with the tides here... If I will leave the West unity with someone of my trust, this person will be you. I settled everything with your father. He'll retire, and you'll assume. Your sector will be as big as mine, so I thought you should have a befitting position."
"But..." you coughed, still taken aback, "I thought the..."
"The positions of command are for the ones who know how to rule, Y/N. It doesn't really matter if you're a part of my family or not. The great secret of the Lothbrok Trading C.O. success around the world is that we didn't try to hold everything in our own hands. Of course, we keep the majority of the shares in the family and we're the heads of everything, but such as Björn has Halfdan right under him, I intend to keep you as my man of trust here. Or better saying, woman of trust," he smiled.
You never thought you would go this far so quickly, but you couldn't avoid smiling back at him.
"I won't betray your trust, my friend," you said, smiling proudly.
"I'm giving you this position exactly for knowing you won't," he answered, firm in his decision, showing you it was something that was certain in his head quite before you could ever dream with this. "We settle the documents tomorrow at the office. But now, I want to enjoy this Pozole and learn how do I ask that beautiful waitress about what time she leaves her turn so we can take her for a drink with us tonight..."
Tumblr media
Ivar's smile became slightly malicious and you giggled as he sipped from the cup of water in his hand. His eyes on the waitress smiling at him from the door of the kitchen. It would be a fun time and a good way to celebrate your most recent success...
And maybe to help an introvert friend to get some good time for the night.

☆ . · . miguel bernardeau, twenty-one, male, he / him . · . ☆ fitzwilliam 'fitz' phénix-alvarez lives in that huge mansion over there! no, not that one. look for white stucco walls & terracotta shingles and that’ll be it. the nhl defenseman has offered occasional glimpses of soft yellow walls and an impressive collection of plants in the background of social media posts, but all of that is nothing compared to seeing the opulence in person. they’ve remained protective as ever since moving to tercet court two months ago, but it seems like they might’ve gotten a little more mistrustful too. maybe that’s why they’re rumored to have such a distant relationship with everyone else who lives on this street. ☆ . · . ooc info: ollie, they / them, 21, est . · . ☆ career claim: cale ma/kar.
BASICS
Full name: Fitzwilliam Phénix-Alvarez Nickname: Fitz Birth date: September 29th Languages: English, Spanish, Quebecois Francois Hometown:
PHYSICAL
Age: 21 Weight: 196 lbs Height: 6′2″ Body build: athletic, lean Eye color: grey-blue Faceclaim: Miguel Bernardeau Glasses or contacts: neither
Tattoos: a raven in flight over his left shoulder blade, monochromatic vines winding up his left bicep
Scars: most predominantly a thin scar near the base of his neck where a skate slashed him when he was fourteen ; several other smaller scars of less note, especially on his hands --- much less noticeable
PERSONALITY
Good personality traits: observant, calculating, protective Bad personality traits: mistrustful, dishonest, aggressive
Fitz comes across as very confident and in control, and at ease in his skin. The truth couldn’t be farther from it. He works hard to put forward the easy front he does --- and some days he can’t tell which one is more real. He has a dishonest smile that masquerades as honest, and a tendency to manipulate those around him when necessary to shed suspicion off himself. He can be almost charming at times, at least extremely amiable. Despite all this, Fitz is not rash or impulsive -- in fact everything he does is carefully calculated, though he goes to great lengths so it does not come across as so. The one place he feels truly effortless is on the ice.
He finds it hard to truly allow people close to him and to really see beyond the most superficial layers of himself. Furthermore, there is a deep-seated fear of not being enough and being forgotten ; he finds it easier to not let anyone close so there’s less chance of this happening.
THE STORY ( i rly was gunna try to write this nice and eloquently but... u get this instead 😔 )
— fitz was born to up and coming spanish actress reyna alvarez in chicago. the result of a messy one-night stand, but reyna ultimately decided to keep the baby. he is indeed named after fitzwilliam darcy from pride and prejudice bc his mother’s first breakout role was in a film adaptation of the book and she loved the book after reading it. how unfortunate for him.
— his birth father was never in the picture, but the man he would come to know as his father came into the picture a year or so after his birth. already one of the top architects in north america, paul robert phenix was in chicago for a conference and he and reyna fell in love. fitz has been told it’s was all very romantic. so then the happy family moved to pittsburgh where his father’s architecture firm was based.
— despite growing up with two parents who raked in a fair amount of cash, they made sure nothing was just given to fitz. they’d both had their humble beginnings and big believers in tough love, they made sure not to spoil their son. they did however make sure he was sheltered from the media when it poked around and the two things they did pay for without question were his education and sports.
— he started playing hockey when he was six after seeing a pens game on tv while they were out at dinner and knowing he just had to do it --- and never stopped. he got recruited to the us national team development program when he was sixteen and spent his last two years of high school in michigan living with a billet family most do who are with the program, which gave him a huge sense of “normalcy.” but really he was far from normal, his development taking great steps over those two years leading up to his draft year.
— queue the cale ma/kar career claim lads aka all the hockey development & logistics u can probably skip if u don’t care laksdjf:
one year before graduation and a draft, he vocally committed to playing at university of massachusetts - amherst. he went fourth overall to the la kings in the 2017 draft ( yeah technically irl that pick belonged to the avs but sh ), and proceeded to remain loyal to his commitment and play two years at umass despite his new top five prospect status. he was put into a first pair role from the start of his freshman year ( 2017-18 ), was a huge part in bringing the umass team up from the bottom of the standings. he plays for team usa in world juniors 2017 and 2018.
his sophomore year ( 2018-19 ), they make it all the way to the frozen four. fitz gets announced as the hobey baker winner and the day after they get knocked out of the tournament. not long after that he signs his entry contract with the kings and finishes out the season with them. he scores his first nhl goal on his first shot in game 3 of the first round of playoffs irl the kings don’t make playoffs but again shh. they get knocked out in the first round and fitz goes home and trains harder than ever.
he come back to kings training camp the next season ( 2019-20 ) more determined than ever to make the team. he does so out of camp and has an incredible rookie campaign. he gets injured in december and misses a few games but is back mid-january. fitz is given the calder ( award that goes to the best rookie in the nhl ) at the end of the season. technically cale hasn’t won this yet but we all know he will.
— la is a bustling city and fitz is a fan of one night stands : he just doesn’t feel like he has time for a relationship and hookups scratch that itch. he’s not an asshole about it, really. there is typically that understanding that this is a one time, no strings attached thing. but this one girl he sleeps with in march obviously does not get this memo and continues to not get the memo. she starts seriously stalking him in the following months and eventually he gets a restraining order against her ( use ur imagination kids ). he’s not really comfortable staying in his own apartment downtown for the time being though after he still sees her around. he stays with a teammate until the season ends, which then brings us to his connection to tercet court.
— paul robert phenix, now world reknowned architect, had a hand in designing several of the homes on tercet court, including one in the style of old money spanish mediterrianian villas that he designed with his wife in mind to be their new home. fitz’s mother had loved the house and moved in for a few years after the court opened but with her taking fewer roles up in the movie industry and getting exceedingly more lonely, she decided to embrace the more nomadic livestyle of her husband and moved out about a year and a half ago. since then the home stood vacant ( though certainly still cared for by several paid landscapers and maids ) until fitz’s dilemma arose a few months ago.
— a few phone calls and a begrudging agreement to pay the extremely steep taxes on the place for the year ( again, tough love and fitz may be a pro-athlete but he’s still making less than a million a year with his entry level contract ), and fitz moved in about two months ago ( say mid-may ).
MISC
— tri-lingual. father is french-canadian and his mother is spanish. needless to say he grew up a little confused. that worked itself out soon enough though. uses he uses quebois french in-season kind of frequently to talk to a couple teammates. really only uses his spanish to talk to his mother and family.
— since moving in fitz has filled the mansion with plants. he absolutely does not seem like a plant guy but he is... absolutely loves it. his major at umass was kinesology bc he thought it would be the most helpful and knew he wasn’t going to graduate but he snuck in some out-of-major classes on horticulture. truly just likes plants a lot. they don’t judge him.
— probably set up his own puck shooting pad in the backyard. why not there’s enough space. he had to retrieve a couple pucks from the bottom of the pool though which has been good incentive to not miss the net lmao. he also has revamped one of the rooms in the house to have synthetic ice.
— runs in the morning before it gets hot. skates a few days of the week in the afternoon. home gym in the house is definitely a perk but he prefers to work out with others because it feels more productive.
— probably drives like. a range rover.
— offensive defenseman. likes to jump up in the rush and is good at break out passes as well as zone entry. earned his place quarterbacking the first powerplay towards the end of the season. he can be quite physical when he needs to be though and don’t ever go after his goalie. ( his nhl.com player page )
— he’s not a recluse by any means, but he has no desire to built connections in tercet court so probably hasn’t actively reached out. they’re likely to have met outside of the small community or if your character forcibly came and introduced themselves. or if they knew each other already mayhaps??
— oh and he’s bi. like really really bi. obv not advertised given his career path but he’s not having some crisis over it either. it just is. probably has a stack of nda’s next to the condoms ready to go at anytime alsdkfj.
OOC
hey lads. i’m ollie !! for those around for round 1.0 of this rp i played alya ( the sports photog ). i am back and this time going back to what i do best : playing hockey boys 😔😔😔.

assa and maxence's interview on france tv slash's youtube channel
A : Frankly, you've been uninteresting since earlier we're bored, you're super lame!
O : This show is shit!
O : So hi guys. How are you?
J : I'm fine and you Oumar?
O : I'm fine I'm super happy to be with you, for the premiere of the show "On slash". So I'll explain the concept quickly. Basically we're gonna talk for an hour, we're gonna do quizzes, we're gonna do debates, and yeah the idea is really to speak freely in between us, casually, around that table. So today I'm with two members of the Slash team. I'm with Judith, editorial manager of Slash
J : Yeah
O : That's your name?
J : Yeah!
O : Judith. Who's also my boss by the way, on Slash.
J : Here you go.
O : So it feels really weird to do a show with your boss, that's the first time, but i'm not too stressed
Max : It's gonna be fine
J : It's gonna be okay. Be careful
O : And I'm also with Marine
Mar : Who's... I'm not your boss, unfortunately
O : But who is still the stories manager of France tv slash on instagram, and snapchat
Mar : Exactly
O : And our two guests of today : Assa Sylla and Maxence Danet-Fauvel. How are you?
Max : very good, always
A : I'm very good too.
O : Can you explain a bit to me who you are and what you're doing in skam?
A : So, I'm Assa Sylla, I come from [undaudible], I play Imane's character. Sana in the norwegian version
O : So you're the main of Skam's season 4
A : Exactly
O : And you?
Max : And I'm Maxence, and i play Eliott in season 3. Of, well of skam. And uh, and yeah. And it's enough.
O : It's very good, it's very good like this
J : And wait we forgot to tell about you!
O : Oh yeah me! Who am I? Introduce me
Max : That one's for you
A : Why is it for me?
Max : Because you know him!
A : So here's Oumar Diaou
J : No, Diawara
A : Diawara
O : She doesn't know my name!
A : Sorry. We're doing it again
O : We'll cut while editing
J : No
A : Okay, so that's Oumar Diawara, he's the host of the Moonwalk show, that I encourage you all to watch it's so good
O : So today, we're going to talk about Skam france, we're gonna do a debrief from s3, from s4 of the show too, and ask you some questions about this. Are you ready?
O : So the first question is a bit simple but how do you feel after s3 and 4 aired?
A : So good
Max : Yeah
A : I think, and it's such a relief
Max : Proud too
A : Yeah
O : Why proud?
Max : Well proud that... That we had such an impact, and that the message that we tried to send was like, transmitted the right way and, and to so many people.
O : Do you think it changed the life of some people?
A : Totally
Max : Yeah. No but that's true, that's true.
A : We often get messages on social media, where a lot of people are thanking us for this show, are telling us "thank you, Skam changed my life, thank you i finally saw myself represented on tv, thank you cause I finally understand", and that's, that's great, that's so good
O : And your life changed too i think
Max : A bit yeah
A : A bit yeah
Max : A little yeah
A : Yeah
O : In what way did it change?
Max : Well we're invited to shows...
A : Yeah, we're here, we're here!
O : With Oumar Diaou!
Max : No it changes life, [I can't understand shit] is so practical!
O : the little joke! Such a kid
A : Yeah, a real one.
Max : Yeah, for real, it made me discover new subway lines,
A : No, but for real, we get credit for what we do, we're doing talk shows, interviews, and for real for me personally it didn't really change my life cause I'm always the same but it still changed...
Max : It didn't change us as people, but it changed a bit-
A : our daily lives
Max : Exactly, our daily lives.
O : People's judgment too.
A : Yeah
Max : People's judgment yeah... Yeah, yeah it's true. And yeah, all this thing, all this wave that assaulted us a bit, that we didn't expect at all, be it us or you or anyone actually. And that's true that yeah it changes quite a lot of things cause we get stopped in the street, even when we go to screenings, well.
J : And you were a bit worried by the way, in the start, about that. It was really impressive to you
Max : It was my first project, so what was the most impressive to me was to be in front of a camera cause I was just out of school, I was a baby I had never acted, and after that yeah, all of this infatuation that arrived all of a sudden. And when it's a first thing that you do, you've never been used to handle promotion even on a movie with less, you know, less... How can you call that? Of...
J : Buzz/turmoil ?
Max : Buzz/turmoil (that sounds stupid sjdkdkd I'm sorry the word is just not really translatable) ! That's the word I was looking for. Uh, well at this moment all of a sudden you're thrown in the lions' pit and you have to handle promo, you have to handle speeches that are a bit sensible, where you can get a bit destroyed by both sides in some ways, you know. And you find yourself in this and... So yeah that's, that's.... That's scary
J : And you're really careful about the aim of your words. You were really careful. Cause I interviewed him, maxence, and he was very very careful, from the start already you were... First of all very impressed cause it was, I think the second screening. Which was...
Max : Oh yeah! In the small leather seats?
J : Yeah
Max : Yeah
J : And, I noticed that you were really careful about the words you were choosing, you really cared for that
Max : Yeah, well because, because you know sometimes in a bit of a stupid way- and it's also the message we want to pass with skam, in our season for example, about homophobia and everything, sometimes you're just not careful, and you say something stupid, because it's like a thing you say without thinking since middle school or something, and, or sometimes you express yourself badly, and you can be bashed a lot actually. Cause that's also the "two sides' of that thing, of that buzz. Cause on one hand yes we get a lot of love and etc, but if you say one word out of the way, you can be destroyed really really fast, cause we're on, well, unfortunately sensitive topics. It can be sometimes difficult to... Well, I express myself freely cause that's really, well that's how I think and that's the way I am, I would've never done such a project otherwise, but everything can be distorted, very fast, not making the cut and... You can get beaten up real fast
O : no one's gonna ask for that not to make the cut! He's afraid we'll frame him!
A : But in the end it went well
Max : In the end it went really well
A : yeah
O : And especially to live that being that young, because Assa I think you're 23, you 24
Max : 25. 26 next week
O : 25? I saw 1994 on the internet
Max : It's false
O : Oh shit!
Max : 93
O : Everyone got it wrong. Okay, now we have the info that's cool. So yeah to live that being this young, isn't it hard?
A : I don't really know
Max : I'll admit I had a bit of a down at some point. That is to say that the first month, month and a half i loved it, except that in fact, since it went higher and higher we gave a lot, it being me, Axel, David, well all of the cast, and we gave a lot to people, and we didn't really protect ourselves. Which lead to me having around March a period while I was down about all that cause you get a lot of energy in your face, cause people are coming with their stories, either very beautiful or very hard, and they're telling it to you as if you were their best friend almost,
A : Yeah that's super hard
O : You have messages a bit...
A :Yeah, it was really very very hard to read, and i told myself "I don't even know what to answer, cause..." Yeah, there are messages that are really, really hard
Max : And actually you have to learn to put this aside and to tell yourself it's not about you, but your actor, your character. And sometimes the border is a bit complicated cause then during the screenings it's us that have to handle people, except that they relate to the character that your interpreted, and since they're very close to our personality, because that's how skam is they're writing the characters depending on us too, the border is a bit hard to handle for them, and for me personally it was even a bit hard at some point for me, cause I was waking up on mornings and was like "fuck, wait"
O : Who is who
Max : Yeah, who feels what, and...
J : What am I feeling!
O : And on slash's side, how did we live it. I know that us, with clips airing and etc, we were really centered on skam. You Marine, you handle the instagram of slash, you got a lot of texts.
Mar : Yeah, cause every Monday we were airing a story, and we had each time either people telling us that we were a bit sadistic to make us relive the event that happened so they were even more down- either they were crying or we also got a lot of love- or they were really impatient to know more so they would ask when the clip was gonna come out, and it was... It was pretty impressive yeah.
O : And I think there were also people that were a bit like "yeah, you're taking time airing the clips"
Mar :Yeah, totally. Before Fridays we had a bit of pressure
J : Yeah we had pressure! Even on YouTube if we were publishing something else than skam, they were trolling us a little in the comments
O : Moonwalk comments are always like "where is skam?". I was so disappointed!
Mar : People asking us also to translate in Spanish, in English, every story cause they couldn't translate. And last week a very funny message, someone who wrote "I can see a show that looks great, but I don't know what that is", so there are still people not watching
Max : That's great
A : That's crazy
J :That's good!
O : Yeah totally, people are knowing it more and more. And you Judith, do you have a specific memory?
J : My specific memory is more about the fans, who were doing a lot of things, in between drawings..
Max :tattoos
J : tattoos, that's true there are poeple that got tattoos.
A : Oh I didn't know!
Max :Yeah that's crazy
J : And I did, by the way hi Marianne - I did a small video for Marianne who made a song
Max :Oh you were the one to do it? So cool!
J : About season 3 and 4, well no season 3, the lucas and eliott season. And she wrote a very beautiful song and we made her a little acoustic session. And yeah, it's one of my biggest memories around skam cause, the idea was also for France tv slash to give back all of this infatuation with Skam's community, and it was a small gesture to show "that's cool, keep on going!". A very beautiful community. So big kisses to Marianne by the way.
O : The screenings by the way, I came to one of the screenings and it's true that it's quite crazy. Like people react to each clip like crazy... How do you react?
Max : Do you want to start?
Mar :And you're discovering yourselves almost.
Max : Yeah. No but that's it, we're discovering ourselves, we were discovering ourselves live on a theater. And when you're in the main roles, well Assa was a main and i was a pivotal role around Lucas, it's- you're on screen a lot so you see yourself a lot, and... Had you already seen yourself act before?
A :Yeah
Max : Okay. I had never seen myself on screen. Oh yeah Bande de filles (Assa's previous movie) that's true. And yeah during the first screening clearly I finished the screening approximately like that [he's like crumpled in the bottom of his seat] on my cinema seat. Ah yeah, I was not good. I was not good at all. And finally you start playing the game little by little, you get used to it a bit, but you always have the little shot, we were talking about it five minutes ago, always the little adrenaline shot before arriving cause, cause yeah you're... It's still very disturbing. Yeah
Mar : Did you rewatch the clips at home, without an audience?
Max : Uh, not, I'll admit I'm not watching it a lot. Yeah. I watch the episodes when they come out and etc, I watched s4 normally, because I'm almost not in it, so it was perfect, but it's a bit weird to be home alone and to watch yourself on your computer... It's cool to watch it, i was watching it with friends, or, yeah.
A : Yeah I was always watching with friends too. But I was still watching the clips. Because I had to watch it was stressing me out
J : Why is it stressing you out?
A :Well actually, as for the screenings, I already saw myself to the cinema, but it's still always as hard to see yourself actually. And during screenings you see yourself in huge, while we usually watch on our phone or computer, and you see yourself on big screen and i see all of my flaws I tell myself "fuck why did you make that face, why did you do that" and it makes me crazy really. But yeah frankly screenings were really impressive. Especially the way fans were reacting, it was crazy, and it was giving us even more strength, it was giving me a lot of hope.
O : Who'll summarize s3 for me?
A : Ohlala, ohlala
Max :Summarize it?
O : Summarize it yeah. The story, the plot.
Max : wow
O : You were in it!
Max : Yes yes! Is that true? Oh yeah it was such a long time ago!
Mar : You have a pretty important role!
A : Your questions are hard! Summarize it just like that
Max : Summarize, uh... It's... To summarize it, it's the story of a young high-schooler who's called lucas, who's questioning his sexuality, and who's discovering himself and accepting himself as gay little by little, going through steps as friends, the girl he uses as a beard, then people at school, parents, etc. To finally try to live his love story correctly.
O : It's a good summary.
Max :Is it fine?
O : It was really cool
Max : My hands are all clammy!
O : Okay okay chill. So a question a bit simpler, do you have a moment that marked you in that season?
A : For season 3? Oh the party. Infiltration. Oh that was sooo cool to shot.
M : It was very very cool to shot. Infiltration, well I arrived in the end so I was under a blanket in the "combo" room. But yeah it was a great shooting day. All in costumes...
A : We shot it at night and each time it was so cool cause we would put the music full volume, and each time because there were moments where we had to cut the music for sound, and we had to keep on dancing, it's not easy, but it was so good, frankly we were such in a good mood, and we had the costumes, we loved the costumes we had and everything
Max : And there were a lot of extras, who were into it 3000%, as much as we were, and, very very cool to shot and you know as you say we're pretty young, our high school years are not so far, so being in character, to have a party a bit... I don't have the word can you help me?
J : Secret/clandestine
M : Secret/clandestine yes! In a school like that, it brings you back - well i never did this when i was in high school - but it's cool. It feels good.
A : it was so cool
J :So both the party
Max : Not for me. Well yeah clearly the party, but since I was not on set a lot... For me the scene that marked me the most was the paint scene. The mural. Because it was the scene that asked us to let go the most. I'm really talking as an actor, not the scene that I preferred shooting or anything, but it's really... Well, when we finished shooting it, we looked at each other with Axel and were like "fuck, we're actually capable of doing that kind of thing, and we're capable of letting go of everything and to dedicate ourselves 300% to our director, first of all, and to our roles, and also to the audience. And-
Mar : How did you make the paint go after?
Max : we were under the shower for one hour, one hour and a half. And uh, yeah, it was everywhere. Ears, teeth. It was hell. Yeah
J : It's true that, it's not nothing, for a first... It was really the first time that you were acting in front of a camera, so it's not nothing
Max : Yeah. Yeah. And a sex scene too.
J : Yeah, yeah.
Max : So, it was...
J : A nice achievement
Max : A nice... Yeah. A nice... Yeah. No but I was happy, you see. I was happy, I'm telling myself, at least I will have lived a love story with a guy one day in my life, since... yeah, and, no it was very very cool... Uh, then I have thousands of beautiful memories, like, all of the... all of the boat scene, we arrived in this boat that they had decorated beforehand, we saw all of that, really we discovered it during the scene, and that was crazy... No but actually everything was great. No but that's true! Each time I'm telling you about something there's another one coming on my mind, now I'm thinking about the petite ceinture, we have hundreds of stories (tell them all you coward) about each day of filming, so...
O : And when you watch the show, isn't there a scene where you tell yourself "okay that's a strong scene that's gonna impact people"? A specific scene?
Max : For me there was the scene of the first kiss under the rain that killed me, yeah (been there done that). It's the first time where watching skam, well it comes quite fast, but, where I manged to watch without seeing myself. You see?
A : Oh yeah? That's hard!
Max : It's super hard.
A : It's super hard
Max : It's super hard, because you judge yourself quite a lot, as you were saying, you judge yourself a lot, you look, you tell yourself "fuck, why didn't I do this or that" and actually, actually we were so into the filming that at first I didn't notice- because the whole Eliott's film thing came after we filmed this scene, or maybe before I don't know but I had forgotten about it. And actually, when I rewatch the thing... At first, I didn't understand why David would make us hold our hands up like this (MAXENCE SKDKDKFKFSJDJDKD). Really, before kissing, I didn't understand. And all of a sudden, I watch and i realize while watching the episode. So that's the scene that gave me a big slap in the face, because I had completely missed it.
J : Yeah you didn't connected at all...
O : Connected with what? With the fact it matches your project?
Max : The fact that actually, Lucas and Eliott's first kiss-
O : I hadn't realize, I hadn't noticed at all (w o w)
Max : You see?
J : But yes! Actually, the movie project is exactly the same scene
Max : Yeah. It's exactly the same that happens, the tunnel, the hands up, they join, bam they end up-
O : You had all realized that?
Everyone around the table, me, y'all, Obama : Well yeah
O : Okay... That's dope! And you Assa, was there an impactful scene when you were watching season 3?
A : For me the scene that marked me the most is the paint scene! And I remember, when they were filming, with the girls we were in the dressing rooms, and we wanted to watch the scene so bad! But David said no way, no one watches the scene, and after when we discovered the scene we were like "oh yeah, oh yeah that was really hot!"
Max : Clearly. Not but it's beautiful, you see even us when we were looking at ourselves in the end we were all green, brown, black, you know like disgusting mixed painting, and on screen it comes off so well! Every color is here, and i was very afraid of it looking like sort of mud, green/black you know, a bit like when you're a kid and you mix up every paint color in your plate, and finally it comes off really really well yeah.
O : even the fans loved this scene, no? Marine?
Mar : Ah yes, yes, completely. We got lots of hearts.
Max : Yeah? Every color?
Mar : Every color obviously.
O : And I'll ask you too, the scenes that impacted you in s3?
J : My impactful scene from s3... It's when Lucas gets outed by Chloé, because I though that was super important to talk about it. By the way we're gonna take this opportunity to say, don't out people (listen to what the lady's saying kids). Uh, yeah.
O : What is outing people?
J : Outing, outing is- See i wrote it so I won't say stupid things. Outing is basically reveal someone's homosexuality, bisexuality or trans intensity, without asking- without their consent. So yeah you don't do that, it's violating someone's privacy, and there's also a path, it's up to people to decide the moment to come out, if they wanna do it or not by the way. Anyways, you don't out people. So I thought it was important to... For me this scene was super important, cause we often talk about coming out but we don't talk about that thing that is outing, which is something super violent, and so for me that scene was essential, and it realkuy marked me, and especially I found it very well acted by Axel (y e s)
Max : That's what I was going to say yeah, Axel Auriant is outstanding in this scene.
J : This scene killed me, really, I cried. And I saw it, i think it was at the screening
Max : Yeah, it was
J : Cause I saw it on big screen so... With eddy de pretto as the background music, and the punch in the door. By the way, maybe you're gonna confirm this but I think he really punched for real
A : Yeah apparently. Apparently he really hurted himself
Max : Yeah, he really... Well, it was makeup on his fingers but he really smashed his hand yeah. Yeah.
J : But really, well I cried... (been there done that part 2) And really for me this scene is the most impactful and especially it's very important. Here. So to say it again, don't out people please.
Max : Be careful
A : Oh yeah and I just thought about it, there's a scene that impacted me a lot too in s3, it's the moment where he's at church, and then there's the music... This one! And with the music adding up, that music is just perfect
O : I was listening to it on a loop!
J : It's good
A : I downloaded it right away. I really loved the song frankly, and after when he starts running and he's joining Eliott, this scene is crazy, frankly I loved it, so beautiful
O : What about you Marine do you have a scene?
Mar : There's a scene I loved a lot, it's the dialogue in between Lucas and Mika on the couch, I don't know if you see? Where basically Lucas starts saying there's something going on with Eliott, but that at the same time he doesn't want to say he's gay because he's not considering himself a stereotyped gay, and i think it's quite representative of what can happen at this age, what Lucas expresses is what society can think about gay people, and that's a sort of homophobia that he internalized, he wants to get out of it but he doesn't really know who is he is actually. And I found this strong, after that, the message that mika was passing saying it was out people who were helping the cause, and i found that strong. And I thought it was a nice political message but passed really smoothly, it was nice.
O : That's true that, I was wondering, while you're filming, do you tell yourself "there are people watching, maybe it's gonna change things"
Max : No
A : No, frankly not at all
Max : Well I don't know who's working what way, but, I know how Axel works at least, and we have pretty much the same way of working that is to say, we're our characters from 8am to 8pm if we're filming, if we're filming until 5am we're our characters until 5am, and actually we don't think about the message, and it's a bit- when you act a scene you have to think about yourself, and what your character lives at the moment, you should not think about the impact you could have cause it's getting you out of your role, it brings you back to you... To me Maxence, for example, or to Assa or... Except we're not ourselves on set. So you really shouldn't think about the result, basically. That's it.
J : Anyways that's more of David's job. He makes you act something, but because he has an idea in his directing about where he wants things to go.
Max :Yeah but you don't think about a message. Well. The message, you see it when you read your script, first reading, you tell yourself "oh that's cool, bam bam bam"
A : And especially when you discover. When I discover the episodes I tell myself "oh yeah I understand David better now! He wanted to do that" because on set, we act and we don't think about after, we don't think about how the scene is gonna be perceived by the audience, we're really in our characters and...
O : He doesn't brief you at all on this?
Max : No because it's not important
A : Yeah it's not useful. He just briefes us about how we have to act. How we have to feel things and how we have to act, it's really not...
Max : Because if we act bad, the messages won't be passed. If we fail our scenes, if we're not true in what we say during our scenes, the messages won't pass. Actually, the messages are a bit the result of all of the processus we put in place to create our character and-
A : Exactly
Max : Yeah. And that's what's magical in being an actor. It's that, you see, you're alone in your room working on your scripts, working on your stuff, on set you're focused you're not thinking about anything else, and all of a sudden it's out and you see the impact
A : Really, it's exactly that
Max :And it's really the most beautiful gift of our job
A : Yeah
O : We're moving on to the debate
J : Yeah, we're going to do a debate
Max : And we don't talk about season 4?
J : Yes we do!
O : right after
Max : It's my favorite [?]
J : right after. There's a debate about s3 then debate about s4, and they're really important debates.
Max : okay
J : Ie, a debate about Eliott actually, are we for or against- Are Eliott's flirting techniques that good? (bitch....... yes) What do you think about it?
okay I'll stop there for now and i'm continuing the other half right away on another post, sorry this is taking so much time

This isn’t really an intro as much as an UPDATE featuring a biography and some changes I’ve realised as I’ve gotten to know Leah’s character better, but given that I’d still recommend y’all give this a once over. Thanks to everyone for getting involved with her and my other characters, and I’m excited to do so much more with her. <3
BASIC INFO ;
Name: Leontine Artemisia Morgan
Nicknames: Leah (by select friends & family only), Madam Prez (slang)
Gender & Pronouns: cis female, she/her pronouns
Age & DOB: Forty | 14 February, 1980 | Anchorage, Kentucky
Zodiac Sign: Aquarius
Orientations: Bisexual / biromantic (with a lean towards women)
Relationship Status: In a ( secret ; open ) relationship with Princess Ivana of the Netherlands ( @ofivana )
Nationality: American
Religion: Agnostic
Neuroses: Undiagnosed Asperger’s syndrome (note: I, the mun, have diagnosed Asperger’s!)
FAMILIAL ;
Hometown: Anchorage, Kentucky
Father: Kenneth Morgan, CEO of Morgan Financial
Mother: Candace Morgan (d. 2019)
Siblings: Bocephus ( @hxll-0 ) and Elise ( @ofchampagnetears ) Morgan (b. 1992)
OTHER ;
Languages Spoken: English, Latin, French, Italian, German (incl. Swiss, Austrian and Bavarian German), Spanish, Portuguese
Educational Background: Institut Le Rosey, Harvard University, John Hopkins University
Occupational History:
1. Intern / Political Assistant at Capitol Hill (2002-06)
2. Representative for Maryland’s 2nd District (2006 special election — 2010)
3. Junior Senator for Maryland (2010-2016)
4. 45th President of the United States of America (20th January, 2017—)
Achievements: Youngest and first female president of the United States; shortest initiation in Society history. If I listed her political achievements we’d be here a while, folks.
THE SOCIETY ;
Codename: Adrasteia
Meaning: Adrasteia means “the inescapable,” which I chose as her label. It’s another name for Nemesis, the goddess of divine retribution, which i found quite fitting because she’s always managed to rise above people and attain what she wants, even if it is through using her parents’ money and power to her advantage at least in part. And now she’s the defender of the free world, in the most powerful office in the world — don’t make an enemy of the inescapable, for the inescapable will always get you.
Traditionalist or Reformist: Leah struggles to shoe-horn herself into either camp, but she supposes in general due to her own ideas that she’s some kind of reformist, even if that reform doesn’t include party islands and hedonistic displays. She prefers more power for women within the Society; more space for non-established families and for people to get in on their talent alone.
Goals In The Society: Her own advancement. To make her rowdy siblings see their own potential, and perhaps find a bond with them that feels less like she’s that cousin you don’t see often and don’t know very well. Ultimately, to be the Grand Archon, where she can make the most positive change. To use the Society to get rid of the Twenty-Second Amendment so she has more time to create further equally positive change for America.
Opinion On The Society: It’s something she was always meant to be part of, but something that needs to be tweaked to fit the time that it’s in. Some people’s definition of ‘tweak’ is too far, but ultimately the most important thing is that she’s in it. Certainly she values it as an honour.
PERSONALITY ;
MBTI: ENTJ-A
Enneagram: Eight, with a Seven wing
Temperament: Choleric
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Inspirations: Birgitte Nyborg (Borgen) | Kidz & SOS (Take That songs, inverse) | Peggy Carter (Marvel Cinematic Universe) | Official Secrets (film)
Tropes: The Ace, Armour-Piercing Question, America Saves The Day, The Chessmaster, Contemplative Boss, Married To The Job, Workaholic, Badass In Charge, Brainy Brunette, Deadpan Snarker, Iron Lady
YOUR MUSE AS ;
A piece of art: The Kiss by Gustav Klimt
A song: Under The Ladder by Mélovin
A book: How To Use Your Enemies by Baltasar Gracián
A movie: Official Secrets
A TV show: Borgen
A historical era: Ancient Greece if she had to choose one, but she’s more one to look to the future than the past.
A historical figure: Artemisia of Caria
A colour: Royal blue
An animal: Lioness (she’s got the name for a reason.)
YOUR MUSE’S DREAM ;
JOB: She’s sat in the Oval Office, folks, she’s doing it.
VACATION: Leontine doesn’t have time for vacations, especially not if she’s attending Society events, but if she did, she’d like to go to the Acropolis.
DAY: One day where Bo and Elise are calm; getting to go on a real date with Ivy and be proud of it.
AS A CHILD: To be President of the United States.
LAST NIGHT: I can’t tell you, because she didn’t sleep long enough to reach the appropriate stage and dream.
THAT THEY GAVE UP ON: She’s never given up on a dream. Never once, not unless she realises it was wrong in the first place. She’s not someone who gives up.
THAT THEY HAVE RIGHT NOW: Constitutional change; getting her siblings into the Society
BIOGRAPHY ;
TWELVE years — that was how long Leontine Artemisia was the sole daughter of Kenneth and Candace Morgan, but also how long it took them to forget why. Through generations of the Morgan bloodline the same issue had persisted; a work-ethic that was either partly or entirely based upon an unattainable ideal of perfection.
Which, in itself, led to relationships like the parents’ own. Lacking in healthy emotional expression ( particularly on the side of the born Morgan, less so in his softer-hearted wife ) and with at least some business element regarding a ‘practical’ or ‘advantageous’ match. It wasn’t an arranged marriage, not quite, as they had found each other — mostly — alone, but neither could it be said to be a ‘love match’ the likes of which fill the daydreams of any hopeless romantic.
And then, from there, they hadn’t realised how it would impact any child of theirs until it was too-little, too-late to do anything about it. When the nifty Morgan motto had already taken hold, dug itself into the young girl, going deeper with every comment Kenneth made about how she could be ‘better,’ or ‘how do you expect to be like me or your grandfather?’
It became Candace’s — being the far more empathetic parent, the one who was there when Leah fell and who had attached herself to her first-born in a way she would not attach quite the same with inevitable additions — goal to get her as far away from her husband’s influence as possible, so that she might have half a chance at coming fully into her own. Except, prior to achieving that goal, the terrors ( I’m sorry, the twins, but they were, and are, terrors ) came into the trio’s lives, and Leah was both no longer alone, and more alone than ever.
Which suited her fine, or at least she said it did. After all, she was still her mother’s favourite, anyone could see it. Could feel it, where Kenneth had turned his attention to the young babes to see which child would offer him the legacy he craved; because Leah’s goal — politics; the highest seat in the land, even then, regardless if she had to claw her way up there with her nails or not — didn’t particularly interest him at the time ( Morgan Financial needed an heir, and he was consistently frustrated at his eldest daughter’s disinterest ) and would interest him even less after she came back with European ideas from her next destination: the Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland, where she would meet a whole host of future A-Listers and members of the Society, including one Étienne de Polignac.
When she returned from Le Rosey at the age of eighteen, her next destination was already settled: the famed Harvard University, to study political science. Of course, she could be nothing but the hardest worker, something she would not let her university boyfriend — as much as she loved him at the time — get in the way of; it was clear Kenneth’s message had gotten through to her ( too well, as she would never feel good enough, always striving to impress him, when it was impossible ) when she chose career over her love life upon graduation.
Because from a young age she had set her eyes upon the White House desk, organised her life around that ultimate dream; pursued law and civics, and abandoned the healthy social lives of others her age. While other members of her family could have been considered high-society socialites, all she knew was her own ambition. Quickly Leah herself became the pedestal for her siblings to follow — except, not her politics, as Kenneth would indicate by sending the twins to Phillips Exeter rather than Le Rosey — and was a point of pride when her parents decided she ought to go to public events; after all, she had to learn how to relate to people, didn’t she? Her first motto, and a tattoo she has that’s always hidden by her clothing, is: change your stars, if you try, you’ll succeed.
Leontine moved to Maryland after Harvard, where she worked as a political advisor at Capitol Hill for one of the Democratic representatives ( whilst balancing a second degree, in international relations, at Johns Hopkins University due to its proximity to Capitol Hill ) until she was of constitutional age to stand for election in the House. She won Maryland’s second district — rather than standing in her birth / home state of Kentucky — and then, upon turning thirty, became the junior senator for the state; however, these early political years were all overshadowed by one event: the war in Iraq, with which she vehemently disagreed, and which has continued to influence her strong anti-war stance throughout the rest of her political career.
‘The rest’ of her political career including her run for President in the 2016 election, resulting in the thirty-six year old defeating Republican nominee Donald Trump in the most resounding fashion since the Nixon landslide. And even then the opponent managed to win Massachusetts; not so here.
She grew up privileged, of course she did, and she’s found her balance between being at peace with and being very aware of what led her to where she is today: the Oval Office, the young trailblazer wherever she went. Leah Morgan’s ‘brand’ is record-breaking, perhaps ( after all, she very quickly charmed people to her favour to admit her into the society as a 25-year-old initiate, a Societal record that still to this day stands. )
Leah’s mother Candace, however, was killed in a ‘car crash’ last Thanksgiving, a tragedy which she has not processed; she hasn’t any understanding of how to deal with grief — none of the Morgans do — so, at some point, it’s all going to come back to her.
But she was raised on ‘this is good, but you can always do better,’ and that shows more than anything in this woman with a lot of dreams and even more ambition.

Pop That Lock

@soukokuweek day one: “trial and error”

The only thing that kept Chuuya from launching his phone full-force against the nearest wall was the fact that he was a reasonable person who could control his temper when dealing with shithead Dazai and all of his stupid ass shit. Definitely not because he did that exact thing last week and had to make a very embarrassing trip to the service provider with the barely-recognizable smashed remains of an iPhone X that probably deserved better. He refused to go back for at least the next month or they were going to start worrying about him and his tendency to go through thousand dollar phones every couple of months at best.
There was still a pressing matter at hand: Kouyou’s birthday party. He had already requested leave for the rest of the day starting at noon but that didn’t do anything to mitigate the issue of Dazai most definitely showing up just to ruin it, and Kouyou deserved better. In the past year or so he had installed seven more deadbolts on his apartment door and started locking them at random in the vain hopes that it might deter Dazai from just breaking in whenever the hell he felt like it, but Dazai’s lockpicking abilities were second to none in the worst way. He could put up with having his furniture moved two inches to the left but he drew the line at crashing Kouyou’s birthday party.
He tapped his foot quickly on the ground, arms crossed over his chest. There had to be some way to keep Dazai from showing up uninvited and eating all the crab. It was rude to keep excusing himself from the festivities to re-lock the door every couple of minutes, not to mention how fucking annoying that would be. Sometimes it felt like Dazai hadn’t really outgrown all of his 16-year-old mischief.
Regrettably, though, Chuuya was far too mature these days to match all of Dazai’s nonsense blow-for-blow, and he was fresh out of teenagers to ask for tips and tricks. Maybe he could hire one for the night—
He smacked himself in the forehead. The answer was staring him in the face the whole time.
Fishing his phone out of his pocket, he opened his contact list and pressed ‘call’ on Mori’s contact info, not even bothering to hide the mania of the grin cracking across his face as it rang. Gin only raised an eyebrow at him before going back to sharpening her knife with extreme prejudice, because Gin only knew how to do things with extreme prejudice and Chuuya appreciated such an honest and straightforward approach to life.
Finally, Mori answered the phone. “Hello, Chuuya-kun. Did you need something?”
“Apologies for bothering you, Boss,” he replied, bowing slightly even though Mori couldn’t see it. “I have a, uh… peculiar request to make of you pertaining to the festivities tonight.”
“Oh? I’m intrigued.”
Chuuya shifted the phone from one ear to the other so he could grab his wallet out of his pocket and rifle through the bills in the fold. “In the interests of keeping unscrupulous characters from disturbing said festivities, I was wondering if it would be okay for me to borrow a certain asset for the night.”
Mori chuckled, amused. “They’ve been in a bit of a mood lately, you know. Are you sure you can handle that?”
“I’m sure.”
“Alright, then. I leave them in your capable hands.” And with that, Mori hung up, leaving Chuuya with a rising giddiness under his skin that thrummed warmly. Kouyou was going to have a fantastic birthday party because he was finally, finally going to be able to outsmart Dazai after ten years of knowing each other and a lot of mortifying losses taken.
Everything was going perfectly.
***
Q removed one earbud from their ear and looked Chuuya up and down from where they were perched on their bed. “I don’t want to, though.”
So things maybe weren’t going perfectly, but Chuuya wasn’t going to admit defeat to a fucking teenager. He ground his teeth together tightly and counted backwards from ten in Japanese, then French, then Russian, Italian, Spanish, and eventually English before he felt like he could open his mouth without screaming obscenities. “You will notice that it wasn’t a request and I specifically phrased it as such to avoid confusion, Kyuusaku.”
They rolled their eyes and a vein started throbbing in Chuuya’s forehead. After the heavy traumatization they received during the entire Guild bullshit three years prior it had been decided that maybe locking them up like an animal wasn’t exactly welcoming to the development of a healthy mental state, so Chuuya and Kouyou both lobbied for at least humane treatment. They were given their own room and the periodic ability to head out into the dregs of normal society, provided they behaved and were accompanied by several mafiosi.
Unfortunately, this also meant that they had the chance to develop a personality, and mixed in with the dangerous cocktail of hormones running through their pubescent veins, it meant they were kind of a snarky shithead. God, he hated dealing with teenagers.
“What do I even get out of this?” Q asked, reclining back onto their elbows and crossing their legs at their ankles. “It sounds boring with no payoff. No thanks! I’ll just read manga here instead.”
More than he hated dealing with teenagers, he hated dealing with mouthy teenagers with zero work ethic, and—holy fuck, 16-year-old Q was just a repackaged version of Dazai at 15. Chuuya wanted to scream.
“Look,” Chuuya said, trying to level with Q as best as he knew how. “I’ll give you $500 and a PS Vita with three games of your choice if you just sit by the front door and flip locks all night. A monkey could do this.”
“Then hire a monkey to do it.”
“I’m trying.”
Q frowned. “I said it sounds boring and I don’t want to do it. It’s not worth the effort.”
“I’ll give you an extra $100 for every time Dazai gets frustrated and swears.”
They sat up straight, pulling their legs in to sit cross-legged on the bed. “I guess… it doesn’t sound that bad when you put it like that.” Q tapped a finger on their chin thoughtfully, humming a long tone that only got longer the more Chuuya’s foot started involuntarily tapping out of irritation. “Okay, fine. I’ll do it. But I want one of the new Vita models. None of the crappy older ones. And let me use your Amazon Prime account to order figures.”
Chuuya sighed. “Deal.”
***
Dazai whistled a happy little tune to himself as he walked by the doorman and the person manning the front desk of Chuuya’s apartment building, waving at them. They waved back. All was right in the world.
The elevator ride was the longest part of the job every single time he came here, and he was running fashionably late to his already fashionably late lockpicking session. His lockpick set bounced against his leg in his jacket pocket as he shifted from side to side to stretch out his back for the crouching hell he was about to endure. Soon enough, the elevator slowed to a stop, dinged, and the doors opened.
Chuuya’s apartment was more than one apartment. The hat rack decided years ago that one apartment wasn’t enough for him, so he bought half a floor’s worth of apartments and had it remodeled into one massive living space, complete with multiple bedrooms for guests, an entertainment center, a full library, two different kitchens, more bathrooms than any person with one ass could ever need, and several other luxuries he definitely didn’t need. He liked to throw his fancy executive paycheck around as much as he could, and it was kind of cute.
He also refused to give Dazai a spare key to it, not that it ever stopped him. Eating all of his crackers and leaving crumbs on the couch was part of the experience of their relationship, after all.
The party was clearly a rager from what he could hear from behind the closed door. Surveying the eight deadbolts between him and Chuuya’s home cooking and absurdly expensive alcohol collection, he whipped out his lockpicking set and got to work.
The first bolt gave easily, and the next two weren’t locked. The third was, as was the fourth, but the fifth wasn’t set. The sixth and eighth were, the seventh not. It was easy enough to fiddle with the picks to get them open, and all in all it took less than ten minutes to get through all eight. He stood up, brushed himself off, and then grabbed the handle and turned it.
Or, well, he tried turning it. It didn’t budge.
He stared at his hand, still around the doorknob, and said, “What the fuck.”
***
Senbonzakura faded out and Fukagyaku Replace started up, but Q had their other ear trained on the door. Every time they heard a lock click out of place, they would either lock it back up or lock one of the ones that hadn’t been locked. It was mindless work, but at least they were going to get free food out of it once the party was over on top of the other agreed-upon spoils.
They heard Dazai swear again outside the door and added another tally to their list.
***
Three hours of hosting later, Kouyou was pleasantly tipsy and ready to go home. The consensus among the rest of the guests was much the same, and they all thanked Chuuya in turn as he escorted them to the door, undoing all the locks in one swift motion and letting them out. When the last of them had left, he stood in the threshold and looked down.
On the floor outside the apartment, Dazai sat with his knees to his chest and a pout on his face. It was equal parts hilarious and adorable. Chuuya kicked him with the toe of his house slipper. “Get up, asshole. There’s leftovers.”
“I think I’ll just sit out here until I die of starvation instead,” Dazai replied, the pout infecting even his voice. “Since you clearly don’t want me around. This is a pretty cruel method of torture, even for you.”
“In case you’ve forgotten, you were the torture specialist, Demon Prodigy,” Chuuya said back flatly, kicking Dazai again. “Stop pouting and get in here already and fucking eat something. I’ve gotta get Cinderella back before midnight.”
“I don’t want to now. McDonald’s wouldn’t treat me like this.”
Chuuya snorted, leaning back into the apartment to address Q from where they were still sitting on the stool they had been provided at the start of the party, one earbud in as they played Snake on the shitty Nokia flip phone Mori allowed them to have. “Honor system, but how much do I owe you for this one?”
Q pursed their lips and did some quick mental math. “Well, you said $100 every time he swore, so with the $500 you started with… $2000?”
“I’ll make it $3000 because he’s pouting like a goddamn child.” He pulled out his wallet and selected the appropriate amount of cash before handing it to Q. “Go ahead and grab some food before I take you back to headquarters. You’ve earned it.”
Almost immediately after the words came out of Chuuya’s mouth, Q vacated their seat with enviable speed and scurried over to the spread of leftovers on the dining room table, loading a plate up with everything they could see. With that problem out of the way, it was time to get his stupid manchild of an ex-partner to stop throwing a silent fit on the floor outside his apartment.
He put his hand on the top of Dazai’s hair and gave it an affectionate ruffle he would deny until his last breath. “I made crab. Just the way you like it.”
Dazai looked up at Chuuya, the angle accentuating the way his bottom lip was dramatically sticking out. He sniffed. “I guess if you make it up to me with a romantic dinner I can get over the pain you’ve caused my poor heart.”
“Yeah, yeah. Get in here, stupid.”
***
Q stuffed another bread roll into their mouth, glancing back and forth between Chuuya—his mouth so impressively turned down into a frown it was a wonder his lips hadn’t fallen off yet—and Dazai—currently holding his fork so tight it was threatening to bend in his hand—while chewing. They swallowed. “Are you guys gonna eat?”
“You know, Chuuya,” Dazai said, icicles forming on the words, “when I say ‘romantic dinner,’ it usually means just the two of us.”
“I don’t think they could pick up a hint if you dropped it right at their feet and literally fucking pointed at it, Dazai.”
They took another bite of the roll and chewed slower this time, more deliberately. They were pretty sure there was some kind of tension in the room over something, but knowing Dazai and Chuuya it could easily have been over just about anything under the sun. It wasn’t worth worrying about it, not when there was so much food ready to be eaten. And why would they eat in the living room when there was a perfectly good table begging to be dined on?
Chuuya put his face in his hands and sighed deeply. Dazai’s top lip twitched violently.
After about five minutes of that, Q swallowed, drank half a glass of water, and pointed at Dazai’s plate before saying, “Do you want that or not?”
The fork finally gave out.

10 Things Most People Don't Know About fireinsidemusic
Just one these types of millennial who knocked my socks off was this younger Woman named Anushka, a teenager in her early twenties. Her white t-shirt with "MILLENNIAL" in huge, black, bold letters just caught our rapid interest and we couldn't prevent considering her Special Talent Presentation, here at Nirmiti Academy. The Do it yourself (Do It You) Craft was her unique expertise. She represented a young deal with of your millennials. Moreover, it was her presentation that spoke extra of her as a millennial. She was a real go-getter when it came to existing her unique talent in a unique way. We could see her beaming with delight and contentment to showcase her distinctive expertise to others. She was so psyched that she was talking a mile a moment. She experienced a lot of to mention about it and she or he could go on and on and preserve us glued to her presentation. The millennials like Anushka and several Other folks are determined to work on factors which interest them. Concurrently, I could also see her being struggling to smile and present herself Fortunately. Long gone would be the moments to the millennials where they really feel current and luxuriate in their surroundings. These are the era who feel the continuous want for Digital notice which potential customers them to overshare their life and times on social networking or go inward in deep conscience to find on their own. This leaves them unconnected With all the Bodily world all over them.
Millennials can be a hugely praised and self-assured generation. They can be a really optimistic generation. ↘[ jd pardo, cismale, he/him, 247 ] Whenever I hear WASTED BY MKTO it always makes me think of ISAAC REYES. They have been so GRACIOUS & RELIABLE , but occasionally they have gotten a little bit IRRITABLE & POSSESSIVE during their ONE WEEK on The Salvation. Back before everything went to shit, they were an SOLDIER, a strangely fitting job for a WITCH. A SWITCH, they never tried to hide that they were BISEXUAL, and they have always been really into SPANKING & BITING. MUD COVERED BOOTS, BLOOD STAINED FINGERTIPS, UNFINISHED BOOKS & STARS IN HIS EYES are pretty much their calling card, and that fits perfectly with their role as a RESCUE on the ship.

isaac was born to the most powerful coven in california in the 20th century. his mother, one liliana reyes, had fallen in love with the coven leader, which would ultimately turn out to be a horrible mistake many years later. but love trumped all. or so she had disillusioned herself into believing. it was only when isaac was growing up and into his abilities that she realised just how many children he had sired. she was sick to her stomach and, had she not had a child to take care of, she would have left the coven and not looked back. but, she had the light of her life to keep her company and grounded, so how could she ever leave him?
isaac grew well, big and strong and following in his father’s footsteps as he was taught new things each passing day. his abilities grew stronger and developed well as he aged. spell casting was certainly his strong point and, before long, he had many of the other children watching in awe as he cast spell after spell to capture their attention. it would not be for years after the fact that isaac would discover that they were less enthused with his ability to cast the perfect spell than they were about the scandal he had caused just by being born. sure, most of those other children were born from the coven leader, but their mothers had never been so damn vocal about it. isaac was an outcast in his own coven, but he wouldn’t realise until it was too late.
the day his mother died, isaac was just shy of eight. a normal day, it had started out, practising how to perform a glamour and laughing and joking with his friends. he had not realised anything was different until he had headed home and his mother had not been there to take him. the coven leader, his father, would tell a story about how liliana reyes had found herself hunted and lead them away from her family, dying to save the witches she loved and trusted. he had found her not one hour before telling this story and gifted her talisman to isaac, his eyes filling with tears as he held it tightly in a shaky grip. with his mother gone, there was nobody to love isaac the way he truly deserved. nobody to care for him and keep him safe and warm.
his father had had no choice but to take him in after some of the other witches had begun to talk about him in hushed tones, wondering why he had taken so long to allow the small child to take refuge in his home, with his family. isaac, personally, had no desire to be there, but once he was of an age to take care of himself, he could leave and do as he pleased. he just had to wait it out.
oh, and wait he did. he grew stronger and smarter and spent much of his time alone, practising spells and astral projection and glamours in the peaceful silence only he could provide. he was eighteen and ready to leave the nest, making a home for himself outside of his father’s watchful gaze, though he imagined that would never be the case when he was still in the coven. his father made sure that would not last for long, however. the day after his eighteenth birthday, he had overheard his father talking about his mother, whispering the words isaac had never wished to hear from anybody. that he had killed liliana reyes after discovering she was pregnant with his child once more and would not allow him to disown his offspring any longer. to find out that he had lived with the man who had been responsible for his mother’s death all these years.. it filled him with such intense rage. he was strong at such a young age and that meant that he was dangerous. proven in the cold way he murdered his father. all without laying so much as a finger on him. it did not take long for the witches to form against him, steeling themselves in case he tried to argue and fight against them. he was still angry, but he was sad, so broken up over discovering the true reason behind his mother’s death. if anything, being rejected from the coven was exactly what he needed in that moment.
he had never felt like he belonged once his mother had died and he now had a reason to find somewhere else to lay roots and call home. and to lay low whilst he found a way to control his explosive emotions. the army offered a perfect solution and he signed up the same day, the only possessions he owned on his back, so he was eager to get started and away from the godforsaken place he had called home since his birth.
he hid in plain sight, easily blending in with the humans and he had them all fooled. it was exactly what he wanted, to be part of something, to feel like he had a family, that he was somebody to someone. perhaps there were times where he felt lower than most and he had tried to take his own life once. but all that did was show him how quickly he could heal. the lines had almost entirely disappeared, but he supposed he truly wanted them there. he wanted to see and remember that he was a lot stronger than he thought he was. he could handle anything. except, perhaps, the awakening.
when the humans had taken their anger out on the supernatural, isaac had wondered if he should come out of hiding, show his true self and fight against them. or he could fight with them. hell, he did not want to fight with them, but he wasn’t feeling like he was left with much of a choice. leaving would draw a lot of unwanted attention and fighting would make him feel sick to his stomach. one self inflicted injury and a glamour later and isaac was discharged, no longer any help in the war. it was easy, after that, to disappear once again. he had nothing left to live or fight for, but he knew that he would be around for a time to come.
he spent years living off the barren land, using his magic only when absolutely necessary. he had spent so long pretending to be a human and now he lived off what they had done. it was a hard pill to swallow, but something that he could not deny as he saw the world around him. he had gone straight back to california after being discharged and had happily found that his coven was broken, witches here, there and everywhere. he had been lucky to leave when he had, it seemed. the salvation had stopped to port and he had gone aboard, still living each day as they came, now ready for something new. fifty years alone was a long time and he was, perhaps, ready to be around his own kind once more. he needed to see life, however broken it may be.
